We recently held our destination Wedding in this beautiful venue. We had the rehearsal dinner in the B & B, and the ceremony and reception on the grounds. The weekend of events was spectacular! Steven was very helpful and supportive of our vision. The food, from Ona was incredible! The event was a huge success for our guests, and priceless memories for us! Highly recommend.

Have seen this place many times and finally got a chance to stay in July of 08. The rooms are very small and quaint, but the location is unbelievable. You feel like you have a special pass to stay where others are not allowed. Walking up under the lighthouse at night with only a flashlight is an experience I will never forget. The history is incredible and the hosts do a good job of answering questions. The breakfast was by far the best I have ever had. 7 courses with palate cleanser!! I think breakfast took close to 2 hours to eat. It was an unforgettable experience. Though there were a lot of courses, the portions were quite small, so you could easily try everything and not feel too full at the end. I am planning a return trip for this summer.

Amazing location! This is where my fiancé and I got engaged! We had such a wonderful experience, from the delectable food to the cozy room we felt so relaxed. If you love lighthouses, the coast or just beautiful scenery then you must visit Heceta Head Lighthouse and Bed & Breakfast!

If you love being surrounded by history and enjoying epic service, you need to stay at the B&B. The decor is amazing...from the four poster bed in the Queen Anne room to the clawfoot bathtub...right down to the tapestries hanging on the walls. The breakfast is worth the entire stay. Not only is the food excellent and very fresh and local, it is also served with a special flair. You get important information about each and every dish, where the ingredients are sourced from, and you are waited on hand and foot. THEN they open the gift shop just for you! :) Bring a bottle of wine, they don't have any, but they do have the glasses and refrigerator for your use. Light a fire, and curl up on the couch to storm watch or just to have a lovely evening with a special person--or a great book! Take a nighttime trip up to the lighthouse with the provided flashlight, and read the journal entries, to see all about those who came before you...and add your own historical note, as well!

Pros: Absolutely stunning location, beautiful house, lovely room. Just what we wanted (something unique). I love that they have a kitchen you can use ... we get so sick of eating out while traveling. They were kind enough to accommodate my vegan husband for breakfast, which was delicious. We were there for one rainy evening, and one warm, sunny one and they both were enjoyable on so many levels. The first night we lit a fire in one of the parlors and read. The second, we sat out on the front porch and enjoyed the view. We stayed in the Mariner II room, which was extremely comfortable and had the most incredible view. (And we didn't have any ghost sightings!) It was romantic and charming without the stuffy/generic hotel room vibe. We enjoyed our walks to the lighthouse both day and night (tips: there are hiking paths nearby that are not obviously paved, but are definite paths worth exploring). Cons: (1) I never received directions to the B&B. My e-mail confirmation was just a receipt of the transaction. Luckily, when I ended up in the public parking area I had common sense enough to turn around and try the private drive we had just passed ... otherwise it would have been a half a mile hike with luggage to discover we were in the wrong place. (2) Our wooden floors were sticky. Seriously sticky. Shoes, socks, and bare feet all stuck to them. (3) The room was mostly clean but ... not totally. There were two glasses in the bathroom, turned upside down for us to use (so you would assume clean). One of them had toothpaste pooled on the sides and the bottom! (4) There were crazy loud (we're talking LOUD) plumbing noises in our bathroom drain that happened throughout the early morning both nights, waking us up around 6am but mornings. When we mentioned it after the first night, the response was "I've never slept in that room before. It'll be interesting to see if it happens again tomorrow" ... but they never asked the next day. And yes, it did happen again. None of this is a deal breaker by any means, but worth noting. We will definitely be back to stay again ... I am not sure anything could break the spell of this place. We stayed for two nights in May 2014.

This is a really well kept secret. I am an Oregon Native and a fan of the Oregon Coast and all that is spectacular about the Pacific Northwest. So when I got engaged the second time...I spontaneously annouced that I wanted to get married on the Oregon Coast and he agreed - wholeheartedly! Super Duper, huh? Everything came together when I began working with Kim and Michelle at Heceta Head Lighthouse. They were both very delightful and (to be honest) I was e-mailing them often with my detailed concerns about the date, the time of the wedding, the colors of the flowers, the officiant's religious preferences, the weather, the suset times, and so on... From the Welcome Letter to all the brides getting married there to the final good-bye's as I climbed into my "limo" (which was an executive suburban car...the limo died on the way to my wedding!) it was a surreal and exciting experience. In addition, the folks I know who stayed at the Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast called me the next day to outline, in detail, the glorious food and the experience they had in the morning at the Heceta Head Lightouse multiple-course meal. The most amazing experience they had experienced at a Bed and Breakfast... I need to comment on the packages offered by the Lighthouse as well. I am very wary of PACKAGE deals (you pay one price and we'll give you these things...) but I wanted my second wedding to be EASY and CLASSY and complete without being too "first wedding like" and this place fit the bill. (Don't get me wrong, if I had my choice, both my weddings would have been here...) The Package was COMPLETE. They offered a super intimate elopment type package and small package...for smaller budgets and smaller needs...and a medium and a large package...and a "rent the place for the weekend and have a tent and a lawn party type package (for that big wedding experience of a lifetime.) We chose what I thought was a larger of the smaller sized package: --Bridal Bouquet --Grooms Boutonnière (added one for my son at no charge too!) --10" - 2 layer Wedding Cake from Waterfront Bake Shop --Officiate by Weddings by the Sea (Mary Cook who is so nice!) --Bottle of Champagne (we could add more if we wanted to) --Two Heceta Lightstation B & B Champagne Flutes --Photographer - Site Only (Dunes Photography & what a professional - the photos are spectacular!) --Gift Certificate for a dinner -- Limousine Ride from Heceta to Restaurant and Back Can you believe it? I just showed up with my dress, my family and friends (all 25 of them) and the love of my life. Everything fell into place so nicely that I floated on air all day. The Lighthouse had confirmed everything, the flowers were outstanding, the tea service was beautiful, the cake was the BEST wedding cake I have ever tasted (couldn't find Waterfront Bake Shop to review the cake!) and the location itself was historical, charming, and gorgeous - right out of a storybook. The final "take my breath away" moment came when I was reviewing the photos and realized how lovely the day really was - when I saw the smiles on my guest's faces and when I began to realize that I danced right into my new life with the Pacific Ocean right behind us! DREAM COME TRUE!

I've been coming to this lighthouse since I was a little girl, I was in awe of the views and the picture perfect B&B. I always pictured myself getting married here, and I did last August! My original wedding plans were to be in SD, but when I found out how affordable the wedding packages were, we decided to shoot for my childhood fantasy... It was absolutely perfect and the staff was great to work with. We stayed 3 nights, and each day was a wonderful memory. Definitely take advantage of seeing the lighthouse at night, the beams going over the ocean gave me chills of excitement! As for the gray lady, she's harmless, just keep your room clean! We plan to go back soon!

This is one of the most beautiful spots in the world. I stayed in Victoria's room upstairs facing the back of the house with a private bathroom. I believe this room was where the lighthouses keepers slept at one time. The bed was very comfortable and they had nice fluffy towels in the bathroom. It had a nice shower. Breakfast in the morning was 7 courses and I found it to be so filling that I could not eat everything. It was well presented. I have posted pictures of some of what I had. After breakfast they open the gift shop for guests and I was able to get the nice cookbook they put out. I was lucky enough to walk up to the lighthouse which was closed but someone was there who was authorized to give tours invited me in so I got to go to the top. The January rates are a really good deal. I have a few suggestions for future travelers and for myself if I come again. I would suggest bringing a few items to heat up for dinner as they have a dedicated guest kitchen. It was really far to drive up to the town of Yachats for dinner in the dark on that curvy road. It took me about 30 minutes to get there and 30 back. I would of rather eaten at the bed and breakfast and sat out on the porch and enjoyed the view. The last suggestion is make sure that you take the correct road to get to the bed and breakfast parking area behind the house. There was road construction and a lot of confusion in the area when I arrived and I ended up down at the public parking lot and then I walked up 1/2 a mile to the house to check-in. I later found out that you need to take the private road a few feet away from the main parking area. ATT cell phones don't work well here but they do have a wifi connection which helps.

As spooky or not as my review may sound I would highly recommend this place. I stumbled across this place by accident on a coastal trip from California to Washington so at the last minute I booked a room. Although it was off season(btw, this review is months over due) I was able to get the room for half off of what it is during high season. Therefore, cheaper rate, less amenities which meant no large sit down breakfast like all the other reviews state. Which for me was okay. Later I found that they do however still have coffee and freshly baked muffins in the morning, free of charge. Had I known that this B&B has years of ghost stories and is part of America's top 10 haunted houses in America. I might have never made the reservation or might have waived it off as a "whatever" and it's all crazy talk about a non-existant ghost. I did not at that time believe in "ghosts". Plus this was just a quick overnight stay. So who cares. After I checked in and explored the grounds of the B&B. I found in one of their sitting rooms, a log. A ghost sighting log! I was spooked by stories from other guests about a ghost at the Heceta Lighthouse Inn, especially when one previous guest wrote in the sightings log downstairs that the ghost comes out of the drop down attic stairs that is now located in the closet of MY room. She's said to be a nice ghost that wants her guests to be comfortable and likes to be neat and things in their place. Now very spooked but intrigued, I turn down the bed. Locked the door. Even blocked the closet door. It was cold that night and I pulled all the covers up to my shoulders so I wouldn't be cold. But during the night I got real hot and was going to pull down the top heavy coverlet but was afraid of getting out of bed. But luckily the hot did not continue on. I woke up the next morning. OMG! The heavy coverlet was pulled down. Not just that but folded nicely and a double fold. Someone had pulled it down and folded it neatly. Who? I'm a light sleeper and I know with the door chained no one came in. I knew I didn't do it. Then who did? It had to be the ghost. I know it's hard to believe but there it was edvidence staring right at me. If you do not believe me, just look at the photo of the bedspread that I downloaded for you all. Now, I am a firm believer that I was lucky enough to encounter a friendly ghost. Although scared of ghosts, will I go back. YES. I WILL! Although haunted it's still one of the most beautiful & magical places. And a friendly ghost just puts the icing on the cake.

We stayed here two nights during our Annual Ghost hunting trip. The B & B is incredible but like everyone else, we were bummed that the lighthouse is being renovated. The first night we stayed in the Light keeper's Room and the second night in the Cape Cove Room. The most haunted room (Victoria's) was already taken. We did not have any ghostly experiences but we were able to whale watch from the front porch and the other guests were a lot of fun. The seven course breakfast was different each day. Everything was amazing and worth every dime. Try to make sure to get there before sundown. The drive way is on The Devil's Elbow, which is aptly named. The hairpin turns demand your complete attention and in the dark the driveway is easy to miss.

We only stayed there on a Sunday night and had to get up and leave before their 7-course breakfast the next day, so keep that in mind. This B&B was ok. We booked about two weeks in advance and got the Lightkeeper's Room, which was the only one available. I had trouble making the reservation online & couldn't get anyone to answer on the phone. They did call me back a few days later, after I had called twice. The Lightkeeper's Room had a beautiful view of the Heceta Head Lighthouse. The bed was very cozy & comfy. We had a private bathroom, but you had to go across the hall and use your key to get in. I didn't like having to leave the room to go to the bathroom. Also, it had a tiny porcelain tub, no shower, which wasn't so great. They did have stuff like bathrobes, plenty of towels and washcloths, and an extra blanket. There was a quaint little kitchen which provided snacks, cookies, candy, tea, etc., but we didn't take any because there was a "donation jar" right beside all the snacks. I was a little put off by that because I felt like that ought to be included in the price of the stay, not that I mind giving a donation, but it is implied that if you take anything from the kitchen, you pay for it. The main reason I gave this 2 stars only, is because I was looking forward to seeing the lighthouse and touring it, and once I booked, I received an email saying the lighthouse was under renovation until next summer (2013)! That was a huge bummer, and I wish I would have know that before I booked. That was one of the factors that drew me to this place, so that was a disappointment. Also, when we arrived on Sunday afternoon, the lady that greeted us wasn't the most friendly of creatures. It was obvious that she'd done that little welcome tour many times before, and we didn't feel too special. It would have been nice to know a little bit of history about the house, things you can't "experience" from the website. She didn't seem too thrilled to be working that day. Anyway, we came all the way from NC to come stay there and see the Oregon coast, which was AWESOME in itself and made the trip worth it, but I wished we had just left our accommodations open for the night and stayed in one of the many motels with vacancies along the coast. Although the B&B is pretty, with nice views (and they have wi-fi), I probably won't recommend this place.

Staying here was an amazing experience! We were greeted by a very friendly lady who showed us around. Later we had a glass of wine on the porch with a few of the other guests and we walked up to the lighthouse and watched the sunset. It was a perfect end to a perfect day. The Lighthouse Keepers Suite is small and there was barely enough room for our suitcases, but that can't be helped. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because there's not a single place to hang a towel in the bathroom. You're only given one towel per person so if you want to clean up in the evening and again in the morning you don't get a clean towel. My wife and I had to drape our wet towels over the bathtub to dry. Everything else was fine and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't stay for the 7 course breakfast because we didn't want to spend two hours sitting at a table when we could be outside enjoying the coast. It's a little off-putting and seemingly unnecessary that they do this. We probably won't stay here again but is something you HAVE to do at least once.

Whenever we drove up the Oregon coast we would pull over near the Sea Lion Caves and take a picture of the beautiful Heceta Head lighthouse and light keeper's house on a rocky cliff jutting out to sea surrounded by a beautiful beach located in the most scenic location imaginable. We read that this is the most photographed lighthouse in the United States. "Buy me that house", my girlfriend would say. Whenever she discussed it, she referred to it as "my house". More recently we learned that the fully restored Queen Anne Light Keeper's house, which is run by the Oregon State Parks, is now a bed and breakfast We stayed in the "cozy" Cape Cove room. Cozy as in tiny, the smallest bedroom in the house. It shares a bathroom across the hall. After careful deliberation of all our room options we choose this room because it was the only one available. This room has a nice view of the historic Cape Creek Bridge and the beautiful cove below. There are a total of six bedrooms, four have a private bath. A seven course breakfast is included in the price and is a truly enjoyable experience. Americans typically don't like to share a table with strangers. I think we are afraid of intruding ourselves into someone else's lives. When we first sat down, everyone was very quiet with only an occasional whisper between couples. Soon the hosts came in, had everyone introduce themselves, tell everyone where they were from and a little about themselves. After that, the conversation turned lively. By the time the hosts came back to the table to introduce the first course, the dining room was so loudly engaged in conversation that the hosts had to ring a bell to get our attention. After the gates close in the evening you pretty much have the entire place to yourself. You can have the cove to yourself at sunset. Have you ever wanted to touch and examine all the items in a museum? You can touch and examine everything since there is no one here to stop you! One of the highlights of our stay was walking up to the lighthouse at night. This is a fully operational working lighthouse, the brightest light on the Oregon coast. Their web site says many couples propose marriage here and I can believe it. It was an amazing magical romantic experience. . We enjoyed every minute of our stay here. It was an experience I'm sure we will remember very fondly for the rest of our lives. I can't afford to buy this place for my girlfriend even if it was for sale, but at least we were able to stay there. That's probably better anyway since Oregon can worry about maintenance and the hosts can prepare the elaborate breakfasts and clean up afterwards.

Booking a room was an ordeal. I called no one answered. They called a couple days later and I missed the call. After playing phone tag for a while, I finally got a reservation. You cannot cancel or change reservations without big penalties. So be sureI stayed here with my son. The allure of staying in a lighthouse keepers cabin was great. I loved exploring the grounds. The lighthouse itself was under renovation so we did not get to see it. The care takers were not warm and friendly. They were very business like, did not make small talk, handed you your keys and left. The cost for one night is $100-150 off season and $200-250 in season. You only get the 7 course breakfast at full price. For $100 extra, you would presume the breakfast would be outstanding. Not really. Most the courses were cold and prepared the night before. For that price I can whip up a hot 7 course breakfast for a group of 20 in less than an hour. We had a good time regardless but next time I will stay at a regular B&B in Yachats.

We stayed at the bed and breakfast on July 26, 2012, and I must say, despite the lighthouse being closed for renovations (walk up there anyway for spectacular views) we enjoyed our stay immensely. We were in the Mariner II room fronting the ocean with one of the most stunning views on the coast. We found the staff extremely helpful, the hospitality amazing (beverages, cookies, to help ourselves to) and the ambiance excellent. While we never saw Rue, the resident ghost, I did thank her for her hospitality before we went to bed just in case she was listening. It is my understanding Rue likes things neat and tidy. Evidently I left my brush on the shelf in the bathroom and that is NOT where she thought it should be as the next morning my brush was gone. We looked everywhere for it, even on the floor, but never found it! The seven course breakfast was amazing. The server explained details about each course as it was served. The Oregon marionberry coffee cake was a special delight. The view from the house is spectacular and the mist that often shrouds the scenery in the early morning hours makes some spectacular photos so bring your camera. Don't miss the view immediately to the left of the gift shop. It's often overlooked but offers a spectacular ocean view with wildflowers in the foreground.

So, we recently completed out second trip to this little bed and breakfast and we still love it. This is a quaint, yet comfortable, place that is full of information about the lighthouse and it's most famous resident: Rue (aka the Lady in Gray). The staff are all very friendly and are always willing to spend some time talking about the lighthouse, the surrounding area, or even their experiences with Rue. There is plenty to do, from the yummy 7 course breakfast, to hiking all of the many trails around, to going to the beach. It's so relaxing. At night you can hike up to the lighthouse or go looking around for ghosts. The one disappointment that we had on this trip was that the lighthouse was covered up and not available for pictures or tours, as it was undergoing restoration. We wish that we had known. It would not have affected our desire to stay there, but we do think that there should have been some note on the website stating that the lighthouse would be closed until 2013. Other than that, we would highly recommend this as a fantastic place to stay on the Oregon coast. It is well worth the drive!

Situated along the beautiful and scenic Oregon Coast just below it's iconic lighthouse to the north, the Heceta Lighthouse B&B is very much a trip back in time - for the most part. The place a lot going for it and, in almost all cases, takes perfect advantage of the abundant historic and majestic scenery and culture within. On the other hand, I could not help but feel a nagging sense of malcontent when stricken with a recurring lack of authenticity and attention to the fine-details. If you are able to turn your cheek to the nitty-gritty, and sometimes outright obvious, over-sites in decor mismatches, you will likely find no better a quaint weekend getaway than here at Heceta. If, however, you are a critical Victorian history buff with an eye for details.. you may leave with a raised eyebrow to the not-so-perfect depiction of times long passed. With a price tag of approximately $150-$250 for a single-night stay, depending on the season (which could bring it up), one would expect such a small, low-overhead operation to dedicate more time replicating the zeitgeist of it's early beginnings more consistently. Bathrooms with modern chrome or plastic toilet paper holders, lamps completely out of place with the remaining rooms color scheme, and a guest kitchen seriously lacking in any pre-1960's furnishings are but a few examples of where things fall somewhat short in this comfy old lightkeepers' house. You may also notice a lack of attention to cleanliness on the surfaces: in the case of my girlfriend and I, the mirrors were quite smudged and many spiders and webs occupied the corners of the walls. Such a small nuisance could easily be fixed with a vacuum, and though it may not disturb your stay, you feel a bit cheated when you spend so much for so little concern for the bits and pieces. The stay comes with a 7-"course" breakfast which, to be fair, is quite tasty and enjoyable if the other company is pleasant and engaging. On the other hand, each course is more like an item: a small bowl of fruit, a crab cake, a 4-oz fruit smoothie, a small piece of cake, a bisquit, etc. Do not come to breakfast with the impression you will leave with enough in the doggy-bag to last through lunch and to dinner - you won't be THAT full. You will, on the other hand, enjoy a varied menu of items which, in most cases, are well-made and delicious although at times somewhat basic in there presentation. Some other fine points of needed-improvements include the house keeper who in all honesty had no place in something from the Victorian era, and a lack of general courtesy in some cases from the caretakers/servers in general. As I said before, with such a high relative price, you think finding a nice, old, friendly maid would not be such a trial and cleaning more meticulously would be expected. I recommend staying here at least once: visit Florence, the Sea Lion Caves, get a tour of the lighthouse, etc, but keep in mind that it's not going to be a 5-star experience altogether. I do feel that it could be an amazing attraction with some small improvements - let's see if they heed the advice!
