I really enjoy Five Guys, it's one of the best places to get a cheeseburger in Oregon. There is a huge amount of toppings to choose from. The small fries are huge, my husband and I split them and can not finish them, try Cajun fries.

Solid food, quick service, good prices, clean, friendly staff and all the free peanuts you can eat. What more could you ask for? Fresh brewed Ice Tea would be one thing - get with the program 5 guys - tea from pre-mix is so last decade. We want real tea, brewed on site. Getting past that, 5 guys has one of the best solutions to order ahead - you can set up text messages that work and you can use their mobile app. When you order, your credit card is charged and your burgers are made. They wait until you actually show up to cook the fries so you always have hot-and-fresh fries.... bravo.

I love the food at 5 guys. First time visit to this West Linn store. Today 07/29/14 1:45 was no exception food was great but the place was filthy! Every surface available to eat on was greasy with food debris on it. The floor had more..... I don't have to tell you how it feels to eat at a dirty place. Yuk! Experience would have been better had the restaurant been cleaner...... Again.... Food is great. I bantered back n forth in my head for two stars or three. Went with two cause dirty restaurants are a pet peeve of mine.

I got yelled at because my babe wanted me to take some peanuts home & I'm Duchess of this location! lol" The guy screamed from the other side of the restaurant that I can not put the peanuts in the bag. This place is just off of I-205 if you are traveling and want to get off, eat and jump back on the freeway. Very good burgers, enormous portions of fries, they fill they size container of fries you ordered and then dump another full scoop of fries in the bag on top of that! They have peanuts in the shell you can eat while you wait (throw the shells on the floor). No alcohol is served here. No drive-thru. FYI the grilled cheese sandwich is served on a hamburger bun, not bread. If you order a "Little Burger" you'll get one patty. If you order a "Burger" you'll get the same size Burger but with 2 patties.

Walked in before the dinner rush. Three people working and all said hi and very welcoming. Ordered bacon burger with fries and both were cooked to perfection. The bacon was crispy, meat was large and fresh and plenty of good toppings. The fries were cooked well and nice a crispy. Quick service and overall - good prices. The trash was full and the floors, counters were dirty. But... Damn gooood!

Five Guys locations can unfortunately be hit-and-miss depending on the owners and the employees. This location prepares their burgers with precision and care. The fries are fresh and crisp, a key ingredient to any Five Guys experience. The employees seem to be hard working team players. Maybe not the warmest folks but who cares, I'm there for the food not to make friends. Rest assured you can count on this location to uphold the Five Guys standard of quality and freshness. Just to follow up, the owner posts a reply on here, but it is empty words. I argued with this Portland owned franchise for months, even went to the Five Guys Franchisors to see if they would help. Nothing. Really offensive, dismissive response from the local owners. Never. Again. And I won't go back to any of their locations as a matter of principle.

"I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!" This place drives me absolutely mental. And the irony is that I've had nothing but good interactions with the staff and management. And while the local human component of this organization makes me want to be a fan, I just can't get past the four or five things that drive me crazy. I'm not going to bore you with all the details, but after my first visit I left raving like a lunatic. Before posting my review, I wrote a (calm) email to the franchise inquiring about whether the things that weren't to my liking were intentional or subject to change since they had just opened. I got an almost immediate response from local management. The net of it was, 'you're not going to like this answer, but this is the way we do things, and it works for us and the majority of our customers.' I'm in a minority. Who knew? Turns out every single thing that really bugged me was corporate policy and not gonna change. Now I'm not going to flog a place just for being corporate, but they are zealots about implementing the "Five Guys" way. So what I've decided is that some will be on board with their way of doing things and other not. I had to throw in the classic SNL quote from Stuart Smalley above, which is my reaction to their marketing strategy of shock and awe once you walk in the door. It turns out that they don't do any external paid advertising so they proudly post their accolades on every available surface of the building. You may think I'm exaggerating but there are pages of ZAGAT ratings... in the bathroom! They also serve every meal in a bag so they can streamline the order and delivery process. But as a consumer it just hit me as a take your food and leave. Not a very welcoming feeling. If the burgers and fries were incredible, these things probably wouldn't bother me as much as they do, but alas I'm not a fan of their food either. I paid a return visit in case I was completely off base the first time and had the same reaction to the food and environment. So while the writing on the wall indicates that they are the best thing ever, it just doesn't fly with me. I realize that this is probably at least a 3-star place or higher for most, but I plan never to return.

A five guys burger is a five guys burger. Usually good, greasy and dependable. Unfortunately, the customer service at this location is lacking. Our family placed our standard web order, I inadvertently put it down for 15 minutes later than intended. I immediately called this location to fix it about half an hour in advance). The gal assured me "we make web orders and we will drop your fries when you get here, I will make sure it's done". Of course I get there, no one knows what I am talking about and the gentleman behind the counter then says "we don't have access to web until...." You get the picture. Here's the thing had the gal said, sorry it won't be ready, I'd have said, my mistake, no big deal... Instead I packed my kids in the car and headed out... Thumbs down.

So I have been reading about this place throughout all of Yelpdom and being dizzy with the across the board reviews from good to bad. I knew I had to try it for myself and had been meaning to for a while but today an opportunity opened up to try them and myself and a co-worker did. I was prepared for the sticker shock, I was prepared for the Mohammed Ali levels of self hype plastered throughout the restaurant, I was ready to see if it really was the In N Out of the east (although I know they make no claims about being an In N Out knock-off, I am talking cult following). In we went to a moderate little line that moved very quickly, about 5ive people in front of us. It was welcomed as it gave me time to scan the menu, which you'd think wouldn't take long since they serve about five things, really, but it was nice to plan out my toppings ahead of time and munch on a few peanuts. I'm used to the peanut thing because of a wonderful restaurant in So Cal called Northwoods Inn, so that was actually a nice touch. I ordered a big burger with bacon, cheese, bbq sauce, mayo, lettuce and pickle, large fries (5ive Guys Style) and a large drink. Co-worker, who was doing me a favor at lunch ordered his lunch as well and then I forked over my first born Tax Deduction and mortgaged my house to pay for it. Ok, maybe it wasn't that expensive but I am by nature cheap (i.e. Jewish) so $10 each for lunch takes a little getting used to. We went to get drinks and it was a nice surprise to see a truly vast selection of drink options. One of my pet peeves is that fast food chains really can afford to offer more variety, especially of diet type drinks. Before long they called our number and I was handed a big brown paper bag, I was about to mention that we wanted to eat it here, but I remembered shortly before making a fool of myself that everything comes in a brown paper bag. We ordered a small and a large fry, and that bag was bloody full of potatoes! There was a big styrofoam cup and a small styrofoam cup (way to go green 5ive Guys!) filled with sliced potato goodness and then whole bottom of the bag was covered in them. Nice. The burger was actually quite excellent. Quality ingredients, cooked well and assembled by a real thinking person instead of looking like someone closed my burger box and shook it in a paint mixer like at some chains. The fries are everything they were cracked up to be too. I guess every now and then, as a treat, I would come back here and fork over the greenbacks to eat their food, it was that good. Now it won't stand up against a good bar burger like at Slow Bar, but that's not what this place is all about. I can't give them 5ive stars, but I can say that I am a fan.

The In and Out Burger for the northwest. We dropped in here a couple of times now and here's what I know for sure. They put some tasty stuff on their burgers. The basics are more than basic. I have only ever purchased the smallest burger and when the two of us ordered a side of fries the staff suggested there were enough in one order to share. For that, I was grateful as there were plenty on hand for both of us. They have unlimited refills on drinks. At least that's been my experience. And free peanuts for you while you wait. Love the music. Nice to eat outside when the weather permits.

Maybe 2.5 stars... Let me start off saying I really miss In N Out. From the outside it kind of looks like a wannabe In N Out (the decor - red & white), so I figured I'd try it. I noticed a few things: 1) Free peanuts while you're waiting. And the fries are cooked in peanut oil. I feel like I was preparing for a PB&J more than a burger and fries. 2) There are way too many people working on making the food for it to take THAT LONG. There were actually SIX guys. Ha! It's an assembly line and with a minimal amount of toppings I would expect it to be a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of situation, but instead I found myself wondering if they just killed the cow. 3) The fries are supposed to be "cajunized" or something. I've lived in Louisiana and had cajun this and cajun that - these fries were not cajun. Just super salty and I couldn't even finish half of the regular. Maybe they should invest in creole ranch and just serve the fries natural and allow you to add your own salt/pepper. 4) Expensive. I do indeed find it to be more costly than I had hoped. 5) The burger itself is pretty great! I ordered the little bacon cheeseburger and it wasn't really little - just perfect. I think they should offer thousand island as a topping and offer different fries/dipping sauce. They were way too much to handle, way too salty and for what I spent I expected more - faster.

Cheeseburgers will likely be the death of me, and Five Guys will be the pall bearers. Not much on ambience, this place, a little crowdy and with small wooden chairs the like of which I've not sat on since the third grade, but MAN the burgers and fries are great! Watch how many fries you order or you'll damage your posture lugging the sack back to your little table. Also my neck aches after eating here because I have to extend it so far to keep the luscious slippery mass from sliding down my shirt. The fries of course are easier to handle, which is good because you will handle many of them. I'm not kidding, they try to kill you with the things. I give Five Guys four stars only because [A], the tables and chairs are not terribly comfy, and [2], I still loves me my yummy Mike's cheeseburgers, good fries, and cushy booths AND Mike's is a local outfit. That being said, Five Guys is now my very favorite national purveyer of these two faves of mine. Gather a few million of your most muscular gut flora and go.

It's a burger joint - review the burger you ding dongs. Though it is dumb that they have the place plastered with Washingtonian articles. Just the right sized patty cooked in front of you with perfectly melted cheese, crunchy lettuce and fresh tomatoes (and a ton of other exciting toppings to choose from). Reminds me of Nation's (umm - and I'm making a dreamy, drooling face like Homer Simpson). This is a non-pretentious, hangover curing, just-the-right-spot-hitting burger! Yippee.

I've been here three times and still don't get it. The place is always packed (which is my measure of a restaurant's quality) but the food is barely 'so-so'. You can order burgers or hamburgers or grilled ground meat patties served on a bun. For even more variety you get to choose one or two patties. And a wide variety of toppings. But watch out for fries - the serving size is huge - more than sufficient for three or more adults! What puzzled me most is that the food tastes like what I can conjure up at home. And I'm not much of a chef! Oh, you get to eat all the shelled peanuts you can while you wait in line to order or at the pickup window.

I first went to Five Guys because of the hype and was less than impressed. Today, I gave it another shot. My feelings haven't changed much. For what it's worth, you do get a pretty good amount of food even if it is a little more expensive than your standard fast food fare (the small fries could easily serve two) but that was probably the biggest selling point of the meal. Other than the onions and the pickles, I felt that everything else in my burger was kind of bland (including the meat, bun, and the sauce). For some reason, everyone compares this to In N' Out Burger of teh fast food world but to me, that's like comparing a Cadillac to a Kia. You can taste the fresh, never-forzen meat at In N' Out...and there's a lot less grease involved too. There are plenty of great local places that serve a better burger for a better price, I'd suggest one of those instead. But if free peanuts, an unlimited soda fountain, and free toppings is what you fancy, then Five Guys will do the job just fine.

My hamburger was HUGE! I had the bacon cheeseburger with everything on it. It was stacked, delicious, yummy. If I didn't eat anything that day, I'd probably finish it (sigh... I wasted food). I also had a large cup of their fries (which I also couldn't finish). Super greasy, super crunchy, super good-only while it's hot. What I like about these fries is that you can see the potato skin. Which means they're using real potatoes. I would definitely come back. I hope they make their fries better though. Tip: Free peanuts!

I like alotta stuff on my burgers. So when I can get pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, bbq sauce, a1 sauce, ketchup, mustard, jalapenos, green peppers, onions, and 5 other things I can't remember (or any combination of said ingredients) on 2 patties with cheese for around $6, that's a crazy good deal. Go here if you like alotta stuff on your burgers. The fries were fresh cut too, though a little bland. I'd go back just for the burgers. Oh, and all you can eat peanuts while you're there.

There's not much to dislike here. I went at 5:30 and there was no line at all to order dinner. The peanuts while you wait are a nice touch. (Though they must take allergies seriously as it says on the box AND the door to not take the peanuts to go.) The beef is never-frozen and the fries are made on site. I really dig the Cajun fries myself. It would be nice they added a chicken burger at some point. I would be ten if not 15 lbs heavier if there was one of these in downtown Ne or Se Portland.

Save your money. Burger, fries, and a drink set me back $11. Buyer beware, "burger" vs "little burger" is poor wording. "Burger" is two patties, "little burger" is one. Good marketing, because they realize less people would order a "burger" if it were called a "double". (Most people don't care for the added height and meat.) Flavor. They get very poor marks here. Sure, there's "all the fixin's", but there's just not a lot going on for the meat. Everything else should add, complement, and enhance the meat. Unfortunately you just end up with a lot of stuff that doesn't have a lot of flavor. There is no unifying element. Presentation and Quality. They do some disservice to themselves by wrapping in aluminum foil. When you take a hot food item and seal it up, it steams itself. With Five Guys, you end up with a soft ball of bun and meat that doesn't really have any good texture. Not soggy, mind you, but my buns have never been toasted and they just become spongey. They should use a more breathable wrapper, wax paper, or at least a paper lined foil. SpongeBall MeatPack ain't so appealing. The fries are good. Really good. Just not quite good enough to draw me back in to eat just fries, though I've been tempted. Probably a good deal to just go get a drink and large fries. By the way, yes, they give you a very healthy portion of fries. But, by all means, you can't "feed 8 adults" on a regular. I can clear a large and a "burger" no problem. Man up! Why you shouldn't go here. For me, there are three dimensions to the food landscape: Price, Quantity, and Quality. There is some give and take as each dimension goes up or down. Who doesn't love cheap, cardboard pizza served by the palette load? Who's willing to pay through the teeth for a few ounces of quality chocolate? Each dimension is relative and we all have our own criteria of what's acceptable and what's not. Sadly, Five Guys don't fit into any of my acceptable "food landscapes". The price is far too high for the quality, and the serving size of the burger isn't making up any ground. If the prices came down, I'd probably have a more favorable review because they would fit somewhere. But at these prices, Carl's Jr. makes a much tastier and larger burger. Hands down. (I didn't say the "best", because it's all relative to the dimensions.) Sorry to say, anyone who raves about this place needs to get out and try some good burgers.

Today was my second visit. You get a COPIOUS serving of fries... so much that it almost seems decadent. Sure, they're GOOD fries, but one, regular order can EASILY serve THREE people, maybe four. As I waited, I watched the cook prepare the burgers on the grill. After frying the patties for a bit, he flipped them and then PRESSED them with this big, flattening tool. As expected, a large amount of juice spewed forth onto the grill. Surprise .... when I got my burger it was DRY as a rock. Who ever thought it was a good idea to squeeze the flavor & moisture out of a burger? This is a common preparation error made by many inexperienced cooks. It sure is going to keep ME from returning. YUK!!! If it weren't for the fries, drink refills & peanuts, meals are a waste here. Maybe I'll give Burgervill another chance.

Not In&Out, but pretty darn close if you ask me. The burgers are more expensive than In&Out, but all the toppings are free (they have a huge selection). Also, unless you're really hungry or an inside linebacker the "Little" cheeseburger is probably enough. Same goes for the fries...kind of spendy but a Regular can be split between two average people (especially since they seem to make a practice out of throwing an extra scoop of fries into the sack, above and beyond the fry container). So when you factor all this in, it really isn't more expensive than anyplace else unless you're eating like a pig...which is really easy to do at Five Guys. One thing I like is that you can see the whole operation (i.e. people putting together the burgers). Another thing which is cool but really odd for a burger joint is the free peanuts-in-the-shell. Oh yeah, and did I mention that the food is DANK??!!

Sorry Five Guys, you are going to get the short end of this review simply because I have eaten at Little Big Burger so much. And you, my friend, are the same restaurant with not as good food, and similar pricing. The burgers are bigger, but the patties are thin and they do their meat well. You could ask for medium (my preference) but seriously, these patties are so thin that I don't believe it would be possible. The fries are good, but nothing special and everything comes out in a paper bag whether you are staying or going. They do get extra points for having both Mello Yello and caffeine free Diet Coke (for my mom). Not that impressed, only a tiny step above fast food.

Went to Five Guys on my way to drop off family at PDX airport. I'd heard good things about it but didn't know much else. This location was right off 205 and very easy to find. When we walked in the door I was slightly shocked at their prices, 5 bucks for the regular hamburger? The girl at the counter explained that all the regular burgers come with 2 patties and the smalls come with one. We decided it was worth it to try and got a regular cheese burger and a large fry to share between my husband and I. The peanuts were perfect to sate our hunger while we waited for our food. They were all fresh and perfectly salted on the shell. We only had time to eat one tray before they called our number. We ordered our burger with everything on it plus green peppers and when it arrived it was delicious! Cheesy with sauted onions, mushrooms, and green peppers and it was HUGE! Plenty to share and both of us were full when we left. The fries where not as good unfortunately, they weren't bad but for the price they should have been better. We ended up throwing away 1/4 of them just because they got cold and soggy by the end our meal from sitting in the bottom of the cup. Overall I'll be back, but just for the burger I highly recommend putting everything plus more on it! Don't take your kids here if they eat their burgers plain, they won't appreciate it enough, especially when they'll be happy with the horrible McDonald's cheap burger. Oh and don't plan takeout, stay and eat all the peanuts you want, they are awesome!

The burgers are darn good, in an old school way. They'll make one just the way you order it. The reason for the 3 star rating is the way they cook the French fries. Or rather undercook them. I ordered mine extra-crispy today and the whole order was soggy. This is not the first time this has happened. Out of the last four orders, three have been undercooked. Save $$$ and get the fries from McDonalds.

Excellent, giant, delicious burgers at a good price. The only downside for me is that their place is incredibly loud (as it's usually full) and I prefer to eat there as if I take the burger home it's usually soggy by then. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better burger off 10th street exit, though!

I REALLY wish people would stop comparing Five Guys to IN-N-OUT. Other then the color scheme and similar menu options they are nothing alike. Five Guys has some nice things about them. Hot dogs, free peanuts, and lots of fixin's for their burgers, but the problem with the extra fixin's is that they aren't of good quality and sloppify your burger. The pickles were down right inedible. Don't even get me started on the thick tasteless and mushy fries... Five Guys isn't bad, but certainly they aren't great. There is no way I will ever make the trek out to West Linn for Five Guys alone. If I'm there in West Linn and craving a burger and happen to drive by, than fine.

Crowded. Way too much hype. The cheese wasn't melty and tasted like plastic. The regular burger has two patties -- way too much meat for me, so my hubby ended up with a triple after I dismantled my burger and wiped off the gross cheese. The fries were pretty good and the price is OK. Bur for my money, Stanich's in Portland or Burger Basket in Salem are leagues ahead. Oh, and Burger Basket is totally worth the drive!

I don't understand the love people have for this place. My mom and I went based on the hype. There was nothing special about our burger and the cheese wasn't the least bit melted. When I mentioned that even Burger King makes a better burger, the entire table next to us piped up in agreement. I never judge a restaurant entirely on one experience, so I'll give them one more shot.

Five Guys franchise has gotten a lot of press lately with the introduction of the Beaverton store a few months ago. I've been anxiously awaiting the West Linn store to open ever since. Walking in on opening day I wasn't sure what to expect beyond the fact that this place ONLY serves burgers, fries, hot dogs, and grilled cheese. Kind of ingenious when you think about it. They pride themselves on using only fresh local ingredients and for that they earned an extra star. However, the fact that they offer free peanuts while you wait for your meal is like ordering an appetizer at McDonald's. I don't understand the point. I counted 16 people behind the counter either taking orders, flipping burgers, preparing the buns, or bagging. So obviously the wait for your burger isn't a long one. For simplicity, let's go with the burger and fries for lunch. You step up to the counter and order one of the following: Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Bacon Burger, or Bacon Cheeseburger. These are all two patty burgers with what I assume are the one patty version offer as "Little". Then the fun ensues. All the toppings for that burger are free: the standard mustard, mayo, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, onions...but they also offer things like grilled onions or mushrooms, jalapeno peppers, green peppers and A-1, Barbeque or Hot sauce. They offer two sizes of fries in either Five Guys style or Cajun Style. I ordered the smaller size in Cajun. Grabbing my meal and heading back to the office I was a little sticker shocked ($8.68 for the burger and fries - no drink) and figured this had better be a mighty good burger for the money. I guess I'm just cheap like that. The fries were okay. They are freshly cut potatoes and though the cajun spice was alright, there could have been more of it. Perhaps a bit more salt as well. What's the point of eating fries if you're not liking your fingers afterwards. The small size comes in about a 12-oz styrofoam cup and when I lifted it out of the bag, noticed that there was a large amount of loose fries in the bottom. By the time I shook them free, there was at least another 12-oz cup full of fries on the napkins. I can't imagine how many fries you get with the large! The burger was also okay. The bun was a bit soggy by the time I walked the five minutes back to the office. But the taste was decent. The jalapeno peppers really kicked it up a notch but otherwise it was just decent. I don't know that I will come back here. Maybe once they've been open a while and things have settled down. I wouldn't say it was worth the money. After all I can get the $6 Bacon Guacamole burger with fries and a drink at a competitor's place for less money. And the burgers there are killer.

I was told by a friend that five guys was like subway for burgers. I walked in expecting to see a large selection of toppings to put on the burgers, but was disappointed to find out the toppings are standard. You get the usual ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc. and then they have grilled onions and mushrooms. The sauces are bar-b-q and A-1. The ability to put on any toppings that you want free of charge is a sort of double edged sword. I advise you to pick a few things that would go well together rather than piling every single topping on. When I got the bag with both my girlfriend and my burgers inside, I was surprised at how heavy it was. We order the regular burgers, but I guess their regulars are two patties and the little one's are single patties. I was satisfied with my burger as I picked some toppings I liked. I was also full at the end of the meal. For $5 for a double cheeseburger it wasn't too bad of a price and definitely beats out a place like McDonalds. I really gave the place 3 stars because I've had far better burgers and I'm still a little undecided on the place. After I've gone back a few times I may change my rating. If your in the area and want to try something new then give it a go for sure.

I am a Cali girl and I hear this place was like in and out but it's not!!!!! Fries are way too greasy and burgers are okay.

Okay, I've already revihere too reviewed a different fast five but I checked in here too and it is really good. As good as the first one that I had. They do have peanuts for you to eat while you wait, but don't bother. The very tasty burger and tasty fries are going to need space in your tummy. They are so worth waiting for, because if I'm gonna be full, I want to be full with great burgers and not peanuts.

Second visit: The small single patty burger was an improvement over the regular two patty burger. They are willing to make an order of well done french fries and it makes them a 5 star item. Still need more data points, but my first experience of getting a huge volume of fries with a regular order may have been a fluke. Today I ordered a large order and got about the same quantity as the previous regular order. It was still enough to fill up my wife and me.

I heard about 5 guys almost a year ago but had never seen one. Then, one day, there it was, just blocks from my house. It was as though the Burger Gods looked down and smiled upon me. Not since High School has the term "all the way" taken on such meaning. The Large Bacon Cheese Burger ALL THE WAY (all the toppings) is so big they can hardly wrap it. Did I mention the fries. I'm used to ordering a "large" at most places...go easy here...5 Guys Large Fries is more than I can handle after the burger. OK, so that is just me. I have 12 year old twin boys. Picky eaters doesn't begin to describe it. The were skeptical at first...once they took a bite out of one of those burgers, they were sold. With them, the jury is still out on the fries but I notices they seem to be eating more and more of mine even though the don't order their own. The place is clean, the staff is cheerful and seriously customer oriented.

I am NOT a fan of this over rated, greasy spoon! Man, I was expecting MUCH MUCH more from what so many people say! It makes you almost sick just walking in....All the signs about how good they are and the state of disorganization inside! No thanks.....If any of you have eaten at "Fat Burger" you know that they have REAL hamburgers.....The different toppings here is pretty cool but the meat and bun was gross, soggy and not much flavor at all! Carl's Jr. $7 burger is better! would I go here again? Maybe I would try a different one if I had no where else to go but I would NOT go back to this one!

Excellent! My husband is a picky burger eater and he loved this place! Burgers were beefy, cooked just right and fries were great - skins still on and cooked perfectly also! Service was quick and friendly for the most part. I think the cashier was tired and not too peppy. I'm kind of tough on customer service though. Great place to go on a date or take your whole family!

Throughout my fast food eating career, I have learned a thing or two about how to figure out if I really like a place, or if it is all hype. The main tool that I use is a little something called hankerings. Over a given period of time, I can tell how much I like a place by how often I crave the food. Simply put... I'm craving Five Guys right now, and it's rare that I'm NOT craving it. Only complaint here is that it IS a little spendy. You could get 4 or more times as much food at McDonald's across the street, but with Five Guys, it's all about quality. Now don't get me wrong, you will be full when you walk out! Even if you order the regular fry, you will have a tough time finishing the brown bag filled with fries that you'll get. I like the unique atmosphere and feel of this place too. No awkwardness. No ambiguity. Just happy employees, happy customers, good music and a super-clean restaurant. Oh, not to mention that their fountain drink selection is only rivaled by 7-11! If you haven't been to Five Guys, you owe it to yourself to try it out. And NO, it's not the same as In-N-Out., which I also love, but it is very different.

Good (fried) double hand formed 1/4 lb patty burgers made to order with a large selection of toppings on tasty homemade buns, some great home-fries, small-cup fountain drinks with free refills, and also free in the shell roasted peanuts to munch on while you wait for your order, which was a rather long time of about 20 minutes (definitely not fast food speed). A clean but poorly decorated red-white tiled casual environment, the furniture seems rather small and fragile for a larger burger eater like myself and not arranged comfortably, everything seemed crowded. Even though I had elected to eat in during my confusing order process, my foil wrapped burgers were dumped into a small paper bag, then scruffily covered with a jumble of loose fries which had spilled out of the undersized paper fries cups that they use, it's rather messy and hard to un-pack, especially when no plates, utensils or extra napkin (paper towel) holders that could be found at the small tables of the dining area.

For me, few burgers can top In-in-Out, but Five Guys came pretty close! Their flavors are very similar to In-n-Out - the burgers are a bit thicker and they don't use the same sponge-dough buns that In-n-Out does, but they still make a pretty tasty burger. Fries are so-so, but I love the free peanuts they offer while you are waiting for your burger.

The burgers were yummy, and quick too! I was worried I would be disappointed after reading the other reviews but no. My family really liked the peanuts that you eat while waiting. Yes the burgers come in a boring brown bag, but that too is convenient for when you have leftovers cause the burgers are very big.

Way too much hype. Yes, the burger is good. really good, and plenty of good fixin's. If they just served burgers, I'd probably give them a 4-star. so why am I whining? The fries. I just didn't think they were that great. the cajun spice was nice, but the fries themselves were just not my type, I guess. But my pet peeve is really with the size of the fries portion. the 'regular' (small) is ridiculously huge. this means two things: 1) They can charge a ton for them because you get the appearance that you are getting a lot for your money (but seriously, it's just a potato.) 2) There will be wasted food, which is stupid. sure, I could take them home to snack on them later, but I'm pretty sure they won't be any better. but ~$3.50 for a small fry sucks. The peanuts while you wait thing is interesting, but doesn't really earn points with me. My wait wasn't more than 5 minutes, and good food takes time. I'd go back if right there and starving, but there are too many other good burger joints here to make a trip.

I had a lot of burgers in over 60 years around the world and really don't find 5 Guys Burgers remarkable. They are similar to any average mom and pop restaurant burger and overpriced. It seems to be more about the mass quantity of potatoes you get when you order the small fries. If I had my choices of burger chains, number 1 would DEFINITELY be In and Out, followed by Carl's Jr., then Burger King. In and Out has a good balance of sauce, lettuce, tomato, meat and toasted bun and consistently good no matter where the location. There are really good different kinds of burgers, Ruby Tuesday has a burger that is about the MEAT! The TRIPLE PRIME BURGER. Really good beef in a class by itself, it doesn't need relishes or fancy sauces, simple but delicious.
