I had so much fun popping in this little cafe while stranded in Astoria due to a malfunction on my aircraft. The guy behind the counter was so friendly and listened to my whole dramatic story. He helped me pick out what kind of pastry I wanted and he made my hot tea just right. He even have me directions to the beach, which, by the way, is right down the street. I will definitely be back to try what they have for lunch!

Hungry? Really hungry? This is your place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and sweet baked goodness. Probably the largest loaves of fresh baked bread I have ever seen!! Was told about this little spot by a restaurant owner mate of mine and was so glad that we checked it out. Tiny little place, but not cramped feeling at all. Open for breakfast and lunch. Part cafe / part bakery. Steps from a cute little park and the beach if you want to do a picnic. Interesting menu with the usual suspects for breakfast and lunch, but also a couple of Filipino treats like lumpia (egg rolls). Younger lad took our order. Not terribly friendly, just quiet and goes through the motions. Not rude though. We both wanted sandwiches and were beyond impressed. Both came on freshly baked bread that was amazing and HUGE!!! I had the custom sandwich where you pick your meats, toppings, etc. This sandwich for just under 7 bucks was so big that I easily had two meals from it. Next time, we will split one and be more than satisfied for our meal. Too full to try any of the baked awesomeness in the case, but we will be back. Service was slow and relaxed, but given the freshness of the food, the attentiveness placed upon the preparation of it (my custom sandwich was perfect and just as I had asked down to the last detail. The lady that made our food was very sweet. The older gentleman that relieved the younger lad (looked to be the husband of the chef ) was pretty surly, Resembled the older, burned out Marlon Brando. (laughs). Once you see the family dynamic it will all make more sense to you. For Sale sign in the window, so hopefully it will still be around for a while. **CASH ONLY** -- No ATM in near vicinity.

I stopped in for a couple of sandwiches for a picnic on the beach. The young man at the counter is surly and disinterested. After reading the reviews, I will try this joint for breakfast, but will be looking for anyone else at the counter. I opted out of two sandwiches and just bought water for the dog.
