Good food, and reasonably priced senior entrees. Service can be very good or fairly slow, depending on who is working and how busy they are. I like the place.

Thus has to be the best place in waldport to refuel after a day out in the bay crabbing!! Portion sizes are great the staff is friendly and prices are just right. Chips for the salsa were hot when they came and its nice to get a "hot" salsa that actually has some bite to it. Had the seafood burrito, delicious! Dad got the 2 chimichanga meal and it was huge. This was our 3rd time hear and they have been very consistent in quality.

We were nearby for a wedding, and wanted to check out Waldport. We jumped on Yelp and found Azul. The place was clean, plenty of parking, and the staff were inviting and friendly. Food came out fresh and fast, and was delicious. I got the chimichanga, the wife got a taco salad, the in-laws got a couple of beef tacos. The chips and salsa were fresh. The food was great. My wife compared it to one her favorite Mexican restaurants back home in Tennessee. We haven't found many in Oregon that come close. If I'm ever back in, or near, Waldport...this is where I'll be when I'm hungry and in the mood for some good Mexican food.

Okay....what the heck did I just eat? I feel bad giving a bad review but the food was horrible. So far from authentic. The salsa, mole, and guac were strangely inedible. The beans tastes like paste and the rice was tasteless. I thought the girls that work here are extremely sweet and as much as I feel bad about making this review maybe it will make them better? I'll probably be back here again but stick to the margaritas.

This is one of our go-to places when we come to the coast; we stay in Seal Rock just a few miles north of Waldport so Azul is a nice place to go if you want good, reasonably priced Mexican food. The fare is pretty standard but they have large portions and everything is fresh and tasty. Their margaritas are really yummy and they have a lot of flavors, food-wise I would recommend the fajitas and their guacamole is really great as well. Also the service is always quick and very friendly. This review is kind of terse but I really do enjoy Azul, considering it's one of the few restaurants in Waldport I'd say they're doing pretty well!

Been there many times, have had the fish tacos, taco salad, seafood chimichanga and other items. Always good food, and servers are very helpful. I have yet to get to the bottom of a glass of water there, the servers are always refilling. We WILL go back!

Old, weathered building at the end of a small road, not very pretty from the outside, slightly better on the inside with booths and tables. Kind and quick service. The waitress was very attentive, between refills and seeing how we liked the food. She transferred leftovers into the takeaway containers. Food: good, maybe the best Mexican sit-down in the immediate area. Great chips and salsa (2 kinds, one sweet that I didn't care for, one hot that I did). Portions are huge. I'd go back.

Love this place! This is the best meal we've had our whole vacation. My husband had chile verde burrito and loved it. I had the fajita burrito and it was really good as well. My 12 year old had the fish tacos and scarfed them up and our two year old got the kids chicken burrito and ate better than I've seen her eat this whole trip. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a bit pricey for lunch but we'd definitely eat here again and I'm sure we would have saved $ had we ordered off the lunch menu.

We stayed at the Cliffhouse on the other side of Waldport so it was a bit of a walk to get to Azul, but boy where I glad we didn't take the car. The Ultimate Margarita was worth the walk! We didn't really know what was good at this place, but we knew we wanted some seafood. Our waiter, Felipe, was gracious enough to tell us his favorites are seafood chimichanga and the prawn-something-something that my girlfriend had. They where both great eats. The portions where pretty large but I did managed to finish mine. After an 8 mile walk on beach earlier that day I needed (some of) the calories.

It's good food. Nothing great, just good. Staff is friendly and attentive. I would come back again to try more

Dang, I feel kind of bad giving this little restaurant a 2, but you crazy Yelpers let me down with this one! First off, let me say that the ladies working here were really nice. But the service was slow and inconsistent, the food was not good and the layout of the restaurant really weird and not at all welcoming or inviting. When we walked in at 5:15 on a Saturday evening almost every table was taken so we were asked to wait a few minutes; but there was no place inside to wait! Immediately to our right was the ladies restroom and to our left a plexiglass partition to the cashier. My husband, two children and I stood in the tiny, narrow area until another customer tried to come in and pushed us into the dining area. A server rushed by with her arms full of dirty dishes she was bussing and she snakily asked us to move out of the main pathway to the kitchen. Um, where were we supposed to go? We crammed back into the narrow entry and questioned whether or not we should find someplace else to eat. But we had seen on our drive there that we didn't really have any other family-friendly options in Waldport that were open that evening so we decided to ride it out. 10 minutes later we got a table and then we waited. And waited and waited and waited. The elderly women at the table next to us started a conversation with me and when I asked how long they had been waiting for their food they said, "a long time." Strike two. About 15 minutes after we sat down our server showed up and asked what we wanted to order. We ordered (and also gave drink orders since that hadn't happened yet) and we then proceeded to wait. Drinks and chips came about 10 minutes later, right as my kids were getting ready to climb the walls. To my disappointment, the salsa was bad--it tasted like jarred pizza sauce with a little bit of oregano added. By far the weirdest salsa I've ever been offered. By that time, most of the restaurant had emptied and there were only two other tables beside ours waiting for food. I thought that might be a good sign. Nah. Our food took another 50 minutes to arrive and during that time we were able to notice the Christmas decorations still hanging from the ceiling in mid-January, thick layer of dust on every ledge, dying houseplants, and strange musical arrangements performed by a senior citizen with an electronic keyboard (ie "the entertainment"). What?? Our chips and drinks were long gone (no refills or second beer were offered while we waited) and I was practically peeling my hungry, cranky kids off the floor by the time our food arrived. And what do you know? The food was lame! Nothing even close to authentic Mexican food and definitely not worth the prices they were charging. Such a bummer. A drive to Taco Bell in Newport would have yielded better results. So if you are looking for Mexican food in Waldport my suggestion is to keep driving and try another town. I was pretty bummed that this Yelp pick was so far off the mark--especially since it was my birthday! :( We won't go back to Azul the next time we're in Waldport.

My partner and I have eaten here many times and it is one of our favorites. It is basically a small, homey, neighborhood eatery in a very small town. If you want more uptown go pay the prices in Portland or Bend. This establishment is clean, welcoming and the staff works hard to please you. They've added several items to their menu recently and I have fallen for the Azul Enchiladas (I'm a huge fan of green sauce rather than spicier red). We've always been pleased (love it when weather is good enough to eat outside) and will continue to frequent. The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars is that the inside is small and tight. Doesn't bother us two but you might consider something else if your kids wish to run wild.

The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant very clean. The prices were fair and the portions not stingy. First a basket of crisp, warm tortilla chips which were very good, but the 'salsa' was tasteless red water. I ordered the taco salad with chunked up beef. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, but not well drained, causing the 'shell' to disintegrate on the bottom and lower sides. The beef was on the bland side, but there was a lot of it! A very small sprinkle of shredded [and I suspect bagged] cheese on top. The salad needed 'something', so I ordered a side of salad dressing: didn't help. So I asked for a side of pinto beans--the crowning disappointment. A small bowl of grey lumps without any flavor whatsoever--it didn't even smell like beans--I tried adding a bit of salt and some of the salsa water, but nothing helped. This was not my first visit to this restaurant, and I'm sorry to only give it two stars, but unfortunately for me, the negatives outweighed the positives.

Decent Mex food, big menu, right on the water. Great for drinks and outdoor patio seating. My shredded beef burrito was superfine, lots of light taco chips. The waitress is a sweetie, service was fast and professional.

Good Mexican food, best I've had in a long time. I had one of the senior plates and that was plenty of food for me. The waitstaff the whole ambience of the restaurant was great I would return there anytime.

Great Mexican! The service was very friendly and inviting. All of our dinners were very tasty and had a lot of flavor. Their cocktails were excellent we had several during the night. Their drinks are not lacking any alcohol . Try the margaritas! I had the pollo con crema and it was delicious. Others in my party had the chimichangas and the steak carnitas. No one was displeased. We finished off with a fried ice cream that fed our entire table (6 people).

Surprisingly really good! Stayed overnight in the area, and NOTHING else in town was open at 7:15pm (these guys were open until 8). Food was surprisingly fresh and delicious (we had the Shrimp tacos and seafood burrito). Serving size was large as well. Only complaint was that they took much longer to cook the food than the time we were quoted - the server said 5-10 minutes, and it took about 30. 30 minutes isn't unreasonable, but the misquoted time shifted expectations.

This place rocks! The servers are so friendly, and we love going here. The food is excellent too! Plus, the margaritas are delicious. If you're visiting the Waldport area and are looking for great Mexican food and drinks, visit Azul. You won't be disappointed!

Such a great place! Authentic food, so delicious. Super friendly staff, reasonable rates. My family had tamales, enchiladas, chile relleno, tacos, and not one complaint. Best little find!

Fantastic food! A little on the pricey side but you're at the coast so what does one expect. The staff was super attentive and playful. Ordered my favorite dish of all time (camarones al mojo de ajo) and they did not disappoint. Cadillac margarita was delicious, our table was 50/50 on the house salsas, personal preferences here.

This is amazing place. Food is very good. I had steak loin strips with rice and beans. Very good flavor. Some one on other comments wrote about weathered building. It is not. It is very nice looking building. This place is close to many camping parks. Will be back here next time.

The other day my wife and I went to azul after hearing really great things about the food and service. Sadly dissapointed when the older Mexican waitress was less than friendly, we tried to ask a few questions about the food and either she didn't understand us or didn't care to answer. The other wait staff seemed much more happy and friendly. The food was so so maybe we'll come back and try something else on the menu, she could've had a rough day.

My daughter and I had a wonderful meal here today. I was impressed with their menu and flexibility for kids, including fun kids drinks. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. The other customers were friendly too! It was a very nice lunch and we will return!

Party of four. Friday evening at 6.00 pm. Reservation was made and honored. Attentive service. Fajitas and burritos and flan for dessert were all really good. Full bar. Bad news was the live electric guitarist ! Nice idea but music from the 70s and other old stuff was jarring---why not have an acoustic guitar and a Mexican music theme if we must have any live music?

I stopped here for lunch and was very happy I did. Exceptional Rice and Beans and some of the best flautas i've ever had. The customer service was on point and my check....less than $8.50....if I'm ever back in Waldport, I'll eat here. Muy Bueno Food!

I have been working in and traveling through Waldport for many years, the town was never known for top notch eating out places. Never knew about this place till a few days ago. Azul is good in almost every category; service, atmosphere, food quality and quantity. We came in with a group of ten and the staff was not fazed, very attentive, food came in a short time (but not microwave short) and drinks were good although would not say it was a great margarita. Family atmosphere but the place is not on the hwy 101 commercial strip so you have to make a little effort to find it. All in our group agreed we will return. Would make the rating 4 1/2 stars if I could.

A group of 8 (6 adults/2 kids) had a great meal here while on vacation in Waldport. Very attentive wait staff and comfortable atmosphere. The salsa and chips was terrific and the food equally so. Chili verde came with tons of pork and a perfectly spiced green sauce. The Mole was very chocolaty and spiced well. Very clean dining room and restrooms. We feel fortunate tonhave found this place with such great food, friendly atmosphere and very fair prices.

My husband & I had lunch here today for the first time and were very impressed. Aside from the clean & appealing interior and the pleasant staff, everything from the chips (warm, crisp, not too salty) to the entree elements were great. The meat in both the Chicken Mole and Chicken Enchilada was tender & moist. The tamale (not wrapped in corn husks, but with a delicate green sauce, who cares?) was the best I've ever had. We will certainly be back, and soon!

Visited 7/12/12 for dinner @6:30pm. Party of 3. This was our 1st visit here. Good service with few delays. Great chips(went through 3 baskets) My pollo mole was a bit sweeter than I like. Carne asada very bland - maybe even seasoned. My spouses fajitas were spicier than she liked but by far the best meal of the three. Diet cola weaker than normal. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Portions were average sized but not skimpy ar all. We three were full on exit with all plates consumed - no carrout required. We would return but order more mainstream meals like the Burritos expresso, tacos, enchiladas etc...

Decent. Kind of bland taco salad. Nice interior. Not great service.

Anywhere else, this might be a three star restaurant. In Waldport, it provided my wife and I with good food at a reasonable price from a privately owned business off of the tourist trail. It was exactly what we were looking for after a deluge of chowder and fish and chips.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
