Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Very poor sandwich

Best pizza in the Portland area. Real New York style pizza, huge slices, perfect cheese and sauce combo. Can't get enough!
(5)Lisa C.
This is the place to go for pizza at lunch. Big fat floppy slices- lots of garlic and herbs. I'm a cheese pizza person and their cheese slices are just perfect. I can't finish 2 of them. Honestly I have never had anything but the cheese pizza and salad. The salads are also really good and fresh with lots of toppings. Highly recommend Rubens.

I stopped here for a quick lunch on my way out of town with my brothers. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a small shop and not fancy, but I am so glad I went in. I got the Philly and my brothers both tried something else. It was one of the better Philly's I have had in quite a while. The other sandwiches were good too but the Philly was the best and will probably be my go to when I go back. Definitely try it if you are in the area.

We've lived in tualatin for ten years and just finally tried this place. Great sandwiches and very friendly staff.
(4)Coleman R.
Ordered half a cheese steak sandwich and a side salad. The salad was surprisingly delicious! Italian salad dressing had great flavor. Cheese steak sandwich was seasoned well and well rounded ingredients. The Italian bread is toasted to perfection to make simple sandwiches taste marvelous!
(4)Jay M.
This place surprisingly has a good large format, thin crust New York style pizza. The crust is good, just not a wood fired smokey crispness to it. The sauce is descent and the cheese is ok. We've had the plain cheese pie and the pepperoni. We gave only had take out pizza from NY Rubens and I will re-review possibly higher when I try one of their sandwiches or pasta dishes. Oh, if forgot this, it reheats well in the oven the next day for breakfast pizza.

I thought I had updated my review a long time ago. It is true, on my first few visits the pizza looked sad. It was sad I wasn't eating it! I have ordered many slices over the last year and they are almost allays tasty and fresh. One night I went it kind of late and the slices looked a tad bit old. I was hesitant to order, but asked for two peperoni, two cheese, and two of the veggie. After what seemed like a long wait to warm some slices the owner brought out a freshly baked pizza with a few slices of each style I ordered. That is great service. Now I don;t expect that ever. I would never ask for that. but fuck me if I wasn't very appreciative. That had been a shit day and he brightened it right up.
(5)Trisha S.
We sought out this place because of their positive Philly Cheesesteak reviews. If we go back we would skip the sandwich and have pizza only. The Philly was good, not greasy or sloppy, and the spicy sauce was nice. We were expecting it to come with fries, but not a problem. The pizza was great! Perfect fold-in-half NY style - our favorite! Service was good too.

Ruben's is definitely the place to stop by for food if you're in Tualatin. This place has the best grilled chicken sandwich and they know how to make it just right. I got two of my friends hooked on the grilled chicken sandwiches and recommend that you stop by and try it for yourself.
(5)Elizabeth W.
Almost perfect brooklyn style pizza. Just slightly missed perfection. Not sure if it's the sauce alone or the crust too that is slightly off but overall great slice
(4)Laura B.
The ruben special and the cheese steak were very yummy. The bread was fresh and everything tasted great. Because the cook cuts the ribeye before cooking sometimes small bits of bone can be found. It's a small joint with limited seating. Chilly inside, bring a coat of you get cold.
(4)Andrew Y.
This place was awful. But far worse than the tasteless meat, the strange sauce on the sandwich or the inedible cheese pizza (none of us could eat it so we threw it away with the rest of our leftovers) is the amazingly awful aftertaste. I keep burping up nasty smells and everywhere I go I smell like a dirty griddle now. I haven't disliked food this much in a very long time. Nothing about this place reminds me of food from NYC, it's a pretty terrible imitation and it falls farther than flat.
(1)Julie K.
The paper plates that the sandwich was served on was no match for the juice and grease dripping from my sandwich. I like the selection of sandwiches and the atmosphere of the place, but the food was a bit greasy for me. I got a Ruben no holding back on anything so what could I expect right? I would recommend trying it out if you haven't.
(4)Chuck G.
The fries were ok, not great. But the Cheese Steak is excellent for $7.95. A good bun is filled with filled steak (real steak that tastes like steak), onions, mushrooms, and sweet red bell pepper. Each one is individually prepared to-order -- not just assembled from separate vats of pre-cooked ingredients -- so that the flavors mix and you have a single sandwich. This is a really-good cheese steak... and it's big too. The spicy mayo sauce served on the side is serious stuff; approach it with due respect. But a little but does enliven the sandwich nicely. The Ruben Sandwich is chock-a-block full of pickles. If you like pickles, then you'll like this version of a Ruben. I didn't like the Ruben very much, myself.

I really wanted a french dip sandwich, so my husband told me he would meet me for lunch at this spot, which he assured me had french dips. Well guess what, they don't. But that's not there fault. I saw they had solid reviews so we decided to stay. My husband got the Reuben which he gobbled down. He said it was excellent. I got a hot pastrami, which was good but had way too much cheese on it. Other than that it was nice and hot, bread was soft and toasty and meat was savory. The real star was the giant pickle I got on the side. I'm sure after our experience here my husband is intent on a return visit. I look forward to trying a slice of pizza next time, unless of course they wise up and start making French dips...
(4)Kyle H.
This place is amazing!! Come here a lot and everytime it always is a great expirence. The food is great the people are wonderful. Make sure you try the fries with pink sauce and pizza by the slice!
(5)Tony F.
I have tried everything on this menu. In my opinion The "Philly cheese steak" and the Italian style sub are the best sandwiches. His take on the classic "Philly Cheese steak" is very satisfying.Pizza here is as good as your gonna get in this hood. He beats subway, Pizza Hut and Bellagios pizza, what the former 2 places offer are NOT pizza, and subway is pure garbage, compared to the product your getting here. I give him a good review, at least it's locally owned, he uses fresh ingredients, hand made, and served with professionalism. We need more places and people like this to counterbalance the corporate crap being sold to us as "food"! His $7.95 lunch deal is a fantastic bargain, half a sandwich, fries and a beverage. This should take all excuses away from you for going to Subway or any of the other corporate junk food merchants in our area. All in all, you wont go wrong here.

Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today I want to be a part of it - New York, New York... I peered out over a stack of tax files that was blotting out the sun of a early October Indian Summer and saw the outside world was still there, moving along without me. Rumble came from my stomach, without looking at my watch I knew it was close to one o'clock. Routine is what it is all about in a CPA office. I leaned back and thought about the usual places, mentally, like a good quarterback in the NFL I went through my progressions and checked off each place like a well covered receiver. This singular thought entered my tax-addled brain, "I want something different." What have I driven by a thousand times and not stopped at yet? Something new.... new... New? New York? What about that New York Ruben place on Martinazzi? Is there a cooler named street than Martinazzi? Focus! Food. Yeah, something New York will settle your Jewish ancestral needs. Pastrami to be exact. Just because a place is in a strip mall does not mean it is a harbinger of bad things. Don't know why people get hung up on strip malls. In I walked and the smells of pizza and deli meat and maybe a hint of spicy mustard hit my olfactory senses. I looked around. It's pretty basic, a basic menu board, basic tables and chairs, basic layout for a long property. There are a couple of big screen TV's, an ample beer selection with some wine from Barefoot, a full selection of Coke products and several iced tea flavors. The menu is based on sandwiches and pizza. I walked up and ordered the Hot Pastrami, hold the sauerkraut and mild mustard. The counter help girl was very friendly and they started on my order pretty quickly. I watched as pastrami hit the grill mixed with garlic dill pickles, then three hearty slices of swiss cheese were layered on top and it was left to melt while the mile long baguette was toasted. At first I thought the sandwich was a little overpowered by the mustard but it must have been just on one little part because after the third bite or so the pastrami came through. It was a very good sandwich. I saw the pizzas and I have to admit I am intrigued, so I have something to go back and try... although I am interested in the Ruben and the Hot Meatball Wedge. It's up to you... New York... New York......

"Are you trying to kill me?" The thought might have gone through my head more than once while eating here. So I need to declare my bias up front. While some people seek out this type of cuisine, a menu where almost every item comes with grilled onions and peppers is not my thing. Even the salad has onions. This relatively new restaurant in Tualatin is in a strip mall and there is nothing about it that made me excited to return. The service was a bit odd and the person at the counter was unfamiliar with the menu, so it made for an awkward dining experience. There are at least three restaurants within a few blocks where I can get a more satisfying, less expensive and slightly less heartburn inducing meal.

Fabulous! I've passed this place many times saying to myself that I should check it out. Yesterday was the day. I ordered the Philly and loved every bite of it. The portion was big and the flavor was great. I (like others) also loved the spicy mayo. On leaving, I passed a table which had ordered a pizza. It *looked* better then the other pizza's in town (and I've ordered from them all). It's only 4 stars because of the horrible, mind numbing (and LOUD) music playing. All in all, I will be back.
(4)Mark C.
I was in to get the 20 inch pizza special for $10. Saw the banner hanging outside. But unfortunately was penalized to add any toppings to the cheese pizza being charged double($9.50) instead of $4.50 a topping. The lady at the front counter was rude too. Complaining to me about the special and how she was glad that it was the last day. Hello, then why did you have a special if your going to complain about the business it bring's?? Why would you lose a customer over $4.50 of topping price?? Oh well..... Not very happy this time I came.
(1)Ben N.
Decent crust, though a bit undercooked toward the center. Bland sauce - could have benefited, I think, by some additional oregano, garlic, and possibly salt. The pies are huge - clearly designed more for service by the slice than for takeout. I haven't tried the sandwiches.
(3)M W.
Came here today with my boyfriend for lunch after reading reviews on yelp! The woman at the front was extremely nice and friendly! We ordered a cheesesteak, meatball wedge, and a slice of pizza. She suggested we get the lunch special which included half sandwich, fries and a drink. The sandwiches alone (not in the special) are a foot long! So I was happy she made the suggestion! Both sandwiches were amazing! I got the meatball sub which was just perfect. The marinara alone was just to die for. My boyfriend loved his cheesesteak and the pizza slightly reminded me of the pizza I got in Vegas at New York New York... Sooo you know it's good!! Will definitely be back!!!
(4)Gio A.
I have been back here about 3 more times after my initial visit. I ordered a large pie for pickup. I was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. When I arrived the pizza was in it's box on a heater. The box was so hot I could barely hold it. I got home in about ten minutes. The pizza was already cold. Hmmm, after looking at the pie I could see this was NOT a fresh made pie but one that had been sitting out most of the day and re heated. Are you kidding me? I've been eating real ny pizza most of my life since I had my first slice back in Brooklyn NY in the late 60's. What a damn shame, no wonder the place is never busy. The pizza when made fresh is actually very good but I will not be back. SMH!
(3)Samantha W.
Ruben's is awesome. Excellent NY style pizza -- huge and cheesy and just the right amount of toppings. One piece is enough for a modest appetite and two pieces is enough for just about everyone else (and bonus - you can eat the pizza just like you would in NY - folding a slab in half and going to town!) I've also had several of their sandwiches, and never been disappointed. The Philly cheese steak is fabulous, the Ruben is awesome, the eggplant parm rocks. Eat here if you are in Tualatin. Certainly eat here if you in Tualatin and considering PieOlogy. Ruben's is a local, non-franchise, awesome pizzeria. Great to support a small business that makes such excellent food!
(5)Jeremy H.
Very good humble food. Needs more business this place has real food made by someone who cares. Please support this guy.
(5)Scott N.
An update is in order for New York Ruben's. On a previous visit my feelings got hurt when they couldn't make me a Sicilian Pizza Pie. However, I've since learned that New York Ruben's needs advance notice to make a Sicilian pizza. What I do now is call a day ahead and order my Sicilian. New York Ruben's has been very cordial and accommodating to me over the phone. If you've never had a Sicilian Pizza Pie before then believe me it's worth the wait. A Sicilian is a thick crust casserole pan shaped pizza pie. The crust of a Sicilian pizza is about the most delicious bread you will ever have. However, beware! A Sicilian Pizza Pie is also very filling. What's fun is to order a New York thin crust pizza with your Sicilian. The Big Apple and Palermo. About the most fun and delicious experience you will every have!
(4)Teddy K.
I come in here on weekends sometimes to get myself the best philly on the west coast! They have great pizza as well! The owner is great guy and i wish he had more business! Awesome food!
(5)Lindsay T.
My boyfriend moved here from New York a few years ago and is always on the search for food that reminds him of home. I was in the neighborhood so I thought I would stop by and see how the food fared. We ordered the philly cheesesteak (with mushrooms and sweet peppers), Ruben's special sandwich and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The sandwiches were really good, my favorite was the cheesesteak, he liked the Ruben. I think the peppers are a must on the cheesesteak as they add a little bit of heat and extra flavor. The Ruben had good flavors but it didn't seem to have as much meat on it as the cheesesteak. The "chipotle sauce" on the side is amazing and I'll have to make sure I get extra next time. My bf tried the pizza and said that it's the best he's had in Oregon so far! The thickness of the dough was just right and the toppings were tasty. I thought it could use some more pepperoni as there's 3 large pieces on the entire slice, which is pretty big. He did say that the one thing he would change is to cook the pizza a little longer, all the pizzas they had displayed looked a little light in color and we would prefer a little crisp to the thin crust. Other than that the food was great and we wil definitely be back for more!
(4)Jessica N.
Ugh, why? Why?! Why must you tempt me so with your delicious menu of NY style pizza, hot sandwiches, and fries... And sweet tea?! This place recently opened 2 months ago according to the kind woman behind the counter. She was extremely helpful and pointed out the special they had going on... $7.95 for just the sandwich alone OR the same cost for half the sandwich, fries (get the fries!) or salad, AND a drink... WORTH IT! Ordered the classic Philly cheese steak and my boyfriend ordered the hot roast pork minus the cheese... Both sandwiches were freshly prepared, on delicious mind blowing Italian garlic bread, and it was freaking BOMB DOT COM. Add some of their spicy sauce and you've got this never-ending party in your mouth. The place itself can be a great hang out spot with two large LCD or Plasma TVs on the wall perfect for a game and two corner style bar booths to chill. Definitely might try hitting up this place during the evening, but it's especially great during lunch. Service is prompt, helpful, and friendly. Food is damn right delicious. Cost is perfect especially in this economy. Can't wait for my next visit!
(5)A W.
Well, Yelp states this place is open on Sundays at 10am. We show up a little before 11am only to find NY Reuben's is closed. One sign on the door states they open at 11am and another states they are closed on Sundays. Which is it? Please clarify your hours on the the door front and on Yelp.

I've been Jones'n BAD for a "Superior" Meatball Sandwich lately. Now my one personal problem with this need is that the weather's so dayum good I wanna ride my scooter to my meal and "Bunks" is too far to risk my life on a 49cc "Yamaha Zuma". I REALLY wanna try "Shut up and EAT!", but same thing, I can't rationalize the road risk. SOOOoo, back to "NY Rubens" where I have come away satisfied before. ~Vvvvvrrrriiiitttttt~ Not so now, they have put the "NY" back in "puNY". As usual, the bread was crisped up just fine, and I always like a sandwich thats been hollowed out for the meat! (Thats how we make our Sloppy Joes in THIS family!!). Sat down with my sandwich all ready to go but for ONE problem... "Where's th' BEEF??" Opening my bread, there was just a paltry little evidence that a meatball had been pushed thru the bread to slather some marinara on the bun. Not really, but I've been to New York City enough times to see a REAL meatball samich. I mean, a "MEET-ball" sandwich where you shake hands with it before you have to unhinge your jaw so you can take a bite!! This thing looked like a "Minnie-Me" poor excuse for the REAL "Doctor EVIL" thang!! Their slice of pizza still looked adequate and their marinara was still good, but the meatballs looked storebought and no longer "Handmade" (and certainly NOT adequate). Like I say, this sandwich a puny 98 pound Weeny-boy getting sand kicked in his face on the Beach!! C'MON Dudes!! Man-UP!! Get some cajones, charge 50 cents or a Buck more and have your customers rolling out the door and burpin' as they struggle their way back to nap at their desk!! To coin an old advertising phrase, "Hefty-Hefty-HEFTY, not ~wimpy~wimpy~wimpy~~~~* "You can DO this!!!" So, back to the "Yelp" drawing board and the hopes you ALL can steer me to another great find of a Meat-a-ball-a sandwich within Scooterage range of Tigard and a great story to come back with. Sorry NY Rubens... You've lost it.. Yer no longer the talk of the town!!
(2)Ken B.
Hey what a great surprise, I had read some good things on yelp and we decided to do take out. For 20 bucks I got a massive pie...should have taken a photo. It was perfect for grab and go. My three year old loved it and she is picky. Anyway, great pie, nice people and good price, glad to have it near me.
(4)Alex K.
This place has great food! The guy behind the counter has always been very nice, I have had the pizza by the slice, hot dogs, and a few of their sandwiches and have yet to be disappointed. They serve everything up hot and their house made sauce is awesome. No it is not health food, and thank god for that. there is not a ton of options on the menu and so far there is a good reason for that, they do everything on the menu right. The only reason They do not get 5 stars because of how long it can take to get your food sometimes.
(4)Anita C.
We won't order pizza anywhere else. This place is great! The sandwiches are also tasty and the prices are reasonable.
(5)Jerrad L.
I've been going here for a couple years now and it's yet to disappoint. As mentioned in other reviews, their Philly cheese steak is probably the best in town. Fries are awesome as well. Between the quality food and awesome customer service, this is the perfect little lunch and dinner spot.
(5)Robert S.
Ate there on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30 PM. This was my second visit to this establishment after visiting a year ago or so. I have much better slices and sandwiches, but the food was 'acceptable'. Sandwich had way too much cheese on it for me....was dripping from the sandwich. After eating there, I wished I had went elsewhere to eat. Don't anticipate going back anytime soon, which is unfortunate.
(2)Laura H.
*Update* After several more visits, this place is still on top. The sandwiches and pizza are the absolute best you will find in Tigard, Tualatin, or Lake Oswego, hands down!! Good stuff! I am so glad Ruben came to my neighborhood. Really good sandwiches. We tried the Philly and the meat was tender and juicy on a authentic chewy delicious bun. The pizza is pretty darn close to authentic New York, at least it is the closest I have ever found in Oregon. The pizzas are HUGE mind you! Nice thin crust, the cheese and toppings taste and appear to be good quality, very flavorful. I should also mention the very friendly and prompt service I received from the nice lady behind the counter. We will return!
(5)Kari C.
What a great spot - 1/2 of a Hot Pastrami Sandwich and one of the largest and best salads I have ever had for 7 bucks. Well Worth the $. They also offer pizza by the slice and when I say slice I mean 1 HUGE slice. This place is a hidden treasure in Tualatin...
(5)JohnPaul N.
Best Philly Cheese steak I have had! Just stopped in for lunch, Never eaten here before. Ordered the Philly Cheese steak $7.95 and it arrived with a bottle of some sort of Pink Sauce. figured what the heck poured some on and gave it a try. Within the first bite I knew this was hands down the best Philly cheese steak I have ever eaten and the Pink sauce which I'm assuming is the spicy mayo was a perfect addition to this perfect sandwich. A+ Guys on the Philly Cheese Steak
(5)Toni M.
This is my second time coming here and as the first time it was amazing. This time we got to enjoy the sicilian pizza and it was awesome. Great place to eat
(4)Sarah B.
This place rocks! Ruben is always so helpful and friendly. The salads are amazing, and the "sauce" is GREAT.
(5)Sue B.
Absolutely the most authentic NJ/NY pizza around! I'm from Jersey, and this is totally the best pizza in Oregon! Fold your pizza people!
(5)Aleasha G.
This food is AWESOME!!! I will definately be back for more!!! Pizza was amazing! The lunch special had a HUGE serving of perfect fries and a reuben that filled me up just looking at it. The atmosphere is actually pretty nice! I was surprised at their color scheme, art decor on the walls, pretty light fixtures, comfortable booths (especially the round ones!!!) and copper topped round tables. It was a lot nicer than I'd expected. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because of the sheer amount of grease on everything. It was a bit much for me, but honestly it was SOOOOOO good. Just bring some tums for the aftermath lol.
(4)Timothy L.
That pizza was ol so large And I called in so damned late I picked it up, though they were closed Finding this. On Yelp! Was fate.
(5)Ryan L.
Have been there about 10 times. I always get a sandwich and salad, so not sure on how good their pizza is. I love this place. Feels, small and local - in a good way. The guy behind the counter is always nice. The sandwiches are good and hot. This is not the place to come when on a diet.
(4)Samantha Z.
Yummy, have had a few sandwiches from here and can't get enough. Their prices are very reasonable.
(5)Alan G.
Average "Italian" and other stuff. Food is solid but there are other places we would go long before going back!
(3)cory h.
I can't believe this place already has five reviews. The portions are enormous (see my pics). I had a pork sandwich with this incredible spicy mayo. They do it up right with tons of meat & cheese, which then run through the toaster oven open faced so that the bun is toasted inside and out. My vegetarian friend had a huge veggie hero, but he looked at my pork sandwich and thought about cheating. I will definitely be going back.

People think that New Yorkers are unfriendly...this isn't true...they are very outgoing and outspoken...so, when you walk into a pizza joint you'll always be acknowledged with a greeting...not so at New York Ruben's. The space certainly looks like a NYC pizzeria...but, it doesn't smell like one...and that's your first clue that you are not going to get the real NY experience. Being born and raised in Brooklyn, I'm very familiar with pizza parlors...they are on just about every corner!! The counter server was busy with a large order to go, and since I wanted a slice of cheese pizza, I could cool my heels. No greeting...just "...what you want..." While waiting for my slice (another person pulled the slice from a counter pizza) I noticed a 1/2 sandwich being prepared for an instore patron. Basically, chilled ingredients are heated on the flat top with a squirt of water and a lid to cover. The portion size of the ingredients was very small. The pizza slice is large...and it does fold over for the traditional way of eating a slice in the BIG APPLE...but, oh my...so bland...and did I say cheese? Wow...very, very scimpy...and virtually no flavor...the sauce also was a bust. Cheese pizza is usually enhanced with a drizzle of olive oil before baking...to give additional flavor and mouth feel...not the case with this slice. The crust was evenly baked a pale golden color...not a lot of character in the taste. In NYC, John's Pizza is the standard for a decent piece of pizza. The pies are large and generously topped...and relatively cheap. This suburban place is not such an icon. If you want GREAT PDX style pizza you could try Ken's or Nostrana...to name a few...the pizzas aren't as big, but the flavor and value are outstanding.
(2)Sung L.
Tried their pizza on my last visit. I'd give the slice of pepperoni a 2 and their white pizza a 3. ~ side note: pizza wasn't served hot, it was warm.
(3)Loren B.
Got a large pizza to go yesterday, was a very authentic New York style pizza. Very tasty pizza. The place however was very dead, no other customers at all. Hope they stay in business because they make some killer pizza. I'll be coming back for sure!!
(5)K W.
Don't judge a book by it's cover. Ruben's is a great example of that. Didn't try the pizza, but the hot pastrami was good. Had the lunch special 1/2 sandwich, fries and a drink around $7.50. The pepper mayo is awesome too! Going to have to go back for the pizza.
(4)Brian S.
Had the Philly cheese-steak and it rocked. Good, hot, New York style cheese-steak. Clean place, staff was friendly and helpful. I plan on going back to try the other sandwiches. Also had good looking New York Style Pizza. (I will try that next time as well)
(5)Anna O.
love their Pizza, I live in the Murrayhill area but drive to Tualatin for this pizza, love the thin crust and the simplicity of the pizza. I have never been to NY but this is the epitome of what I envision NY style pizza to be. YUM!
(4)Eric C.
Just moved to town from Buffalo, NY and am on the hunt for a great pizza. Ordered simply pepperoni as that's a good barometer of wether a place can put together a good slice. Pizza was decent to good but then again I love almost all pizza. Large (20") thin NY style is perfect but the cheese and sauce lacked a little in flavor as if if is thought of as a delivery method for toppings rather than a featured player. A little grease is expected (and enjoyed) with this style pizza, but Ruben's was nearing oil slick, but maybe Bounty has lost its touch as this was definitely more than a one-sheeter. Definitely good enough to have again but this will not be my go-to pizza place. The hunt continues. . .
(2)Mike W.
The New York Deli in downtown Tualatin is a strange dinning experience. The dinning room is layed out long and narrow making a less than inviting setting. The food smelled great which certainly was inviting so I placed my order for a half Pastrami, fries, and a drink lunch special. I was pleased that they asked if I wanted hot mustard or standard! Indeed they must know their Pstrams if they have hot mustard. The half sandwich was good. The portion was average, the meat was tasty, the peppers and onions were perfect. Truth be told I'd pay a buck or two more for twice or three times the meat. Then it'd be a GREAT sandwich. The fries are spiced and coated which is a bad choice with a spicy sandwich. I like plane fries so I can clean my palate. I'll keep them in mind but I won't invite any friends I want to impress.

AMAZING SANDWICHES!!! After trying the new restaurant in Tualatin (who claims to have the "best" philly cheesesteaks) I have decided New York Ruben's is outrageously underrated. We have taken our family who is from New York, here when they visit, and they prefer it to the cheesesteaks they get over there. Every sandwich here is great, but it is hard to order anything else but the philly...

This place was one of my husbands and my favorite places to eat at, but the last time we went there, they litterally kicked us out! They asked us to leave their establishment, after paying $30 some odd dollars for dinner there with my sister and our niece! They said that we were there for a long time, like loitering I guess, but we weren't. We showed up like, 10 minutes before my sister did, sat down and had a nice dinner with her, and then she left; my husband and I just had a baby and so it took us an extra minute to get our son situated (changed) and back into his car seat. We took a moment to look over everything to make sure we had everything and the cashier lady went in the back and called the 'manager' up to come talk to us. WE PAID OVER $30 FOR DINNER!!! AND THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT US?!?!?! We came here all the time, and loved the food, and their spicy sauce. But, sadly, we wont be returning due to the rudeness and their service. You guys just lost good paying regular customers!

NY Ruben's has the best lunch deal in Tualatin. The half sandwich with fries or salad and a soda is just $7.95. It's a great deal for many reasons, but above all is the quality of the food. The salad has fresh baby greens, roasted peppers, fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, croutons, and your choice of dressing (the house Italian vinaigrette is delicious). Choose from any of their hot sandwiches on an amazing crusty french roll. The half size is easily six inches, and you can't go wrong with any of them. My personal favorites are the hot pastrami and the eggplant parmesan. It's easy to support a local business when it serves the best sandwich in the suburbs!

I've eaten here at least once a week since I moved to Oregon a couple of months ago. The best pizza in Tualatin (sorry Bellagio's!) , and the most authentic NY-style pizza I've found so far in the entire Portland area. I'm originally from Brooklyn, so I know! I haven't tried any of the other items on the menu because I only care about the pizza, but everyone seems to like them just fine.

Best pizza in the greater portland area BY FAR! Im from Atlantic City, New Jersey, and I KNOW PIZZA. if you are from the east coast (especially anywhere close to new york) then you know what i mean when i say that west coasters dont know jack about pizza. everyone i know in portland thinks a good pizza is all about toppings, but to me, toppings means that your pizza sucks and you need to cover up the awful flavor. N Y Rubens knows pizza, and with all the pizza shops around claming to make a genuine new york pizza this is the only one ive found that actually nailed it- it cant be a good pizza if you cant use a napkin to sop up all the grease. Ive never tried the cheesesteak and i wont. If you know about cheesesteaks then you know that you cant actually make one if you arent close to philly due to water and elevation. (go to philly and get one, you'll see- its a different sandwich altogether, and don't get peppers and onions, thats now how you do it in philly. again- toppings to cover up the awful taste) RUBENS ALSO HAS STELLAR FRENCH FRIES!! im sorry for all my attitude here, i get all bent out of shape about pizza and cheesesteaks. thank you N Y Rubens!!

I lived in Las Vegas before i moved here and they have a sandwich shop there that is AWSOME! and every chance i got since i moved here i go to their web site and let them know that a shop is needed here in the Portland area...that was until i found this place! My fav is the philly cheese i have not tried the pizza YET! but after reading all the revs i don't know what i'm waiting for.

Had sandwiches and a slice of pizza today! Delicious! The hot sausage sandwich is great...so was the Italian. The pizza was tasty....we are coming back! Go to their website for coupons. The service was nice too.....what a nice find!

I ordered the phillie cheese steak sandwich. The food was good, but the quantity was lacking. The cost of 7.99 seemed a little high for this sandwich. I also tried a sausage sandwich which I thought was a little better. The service was good - I got my food in about 5 to 10 minutes. A good place to eat for this area if your looking for new york style food.

The pizza sucks, its big and expensive 1-10 i would give it a 2. I would rather eat pizza hut. I have not tried there sandwichs. The customer service is terrible

I have been using Yelp for about a year looking for good places to eat, especially here in the suburbs. When I saw all of these fantastic reviews, we just had to check it out. Well, it was OK, but in no way is it in the same league with Ken's, Apizza Scholls, or the Firehouse. The pizza was huge, we took half of it home. It had OK taste, but was a bit soggy in the center. Probably could have used another couple of minutes in the oven. One other side note, we arrived about 7pm..and we were the only ones in the place. In the 40 minutes we were at our table not another soul came in until we were getting up to leave. And finally, there are two flat screen TV's, both had Fox News on, with the sound off. The radio was on though and was blaring rap music. So if Fox news with a rap soundtrack doesn't sound like a good way to enjoy pizza, I would suggest getting your pie to go.

This place is addictive! Went there for lunch last week with a co-worker and ordered the Philly Cheese Steak and the Roasted Pork sandwiches with these great battered fries. Both were delicious. They were good sized and loaded with flavor. We saw another table eating a pizza that litterally covered most of the table and looked delicious. I brought my family back for dinner and we ordered a 20" Meat Combo Pizza for $23.00. The pizza was one of the best I've ever had and was so big we took half of it home. An amazing value. My wife and I were running errands the next afternoon and she asked to go back for lunch. We did the lunch special with half a sandwich, a delicious salad, and soda for $7.25. The Meatball and Chicken Cutlett sandwiches were perfect. Service has been super friendly on all three of our visits. You won't be disappointed with this place if you're in the mood for excellent food in a casual and inexpensive restaurant.

Philly Cheesesteak was great! Had to come back - went a little crazy and tried the New York Dog and a slice of Pepperoni. Exceptional!

This place is delish! My boyfriend got me started on this place when he discovered it for lunch one day. He brought home half of this cheesesteak sub, and it was really good!! Since then we have tried the pizza, chicken sandwich and a few other things on the menu and have enjoyed it all... I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!!

Oh my goodness, this place has good pizza! We found out about it from friends who had been to their related restaurant (New York Richie). It just opened a few days ago apparently, and so unfortunately they still didn't have things available like beer and wine (hopefully this will be fixed soon!). However, the pizza was delish. It's true New York style, really thin crust, and unimaginably soft doughy (but not too doughy) crust on the edges. And the pizzas are HUGE-- 20 inches across. Ours took up most of the space on our table, and we had a big table. I'm not sure what you'd do if you had a small table.... But that's besides the point. I've had pizza at Flying Pie, which l like, and take and bake from Papa Murphy's, but this pizza is above and beyond yummier.

Wow! This pizza is wonderful! I agree the price does seem high at first, then you see the pizza! It is bigger than there tables and feeds four more than well. I love the sauce and their crust it amazing! Finally Tualatin has a good pizza place.

* My review comes with an asterisk because I did really enjoy my philly sandwich, however it took way too long. I'm sure this was probably a mistake that doesn't happen often based on other reviews that I have read. I ordered my sandwich at 12:08 and it would have arrived 22 minutes later at 12:30 IF THEY HADN'T GIVEN MY SANDWICH TO THE GROUP THAT ORDERED AFTER ME! But they did, so I ended up not getting mine until about 12:35 which is way too long to wait for a sandwich when you are hungry and other people are eating before you even though they ordered after you. However like I said I did really enjoy my sandwich and the chilled spicy mayo was a nice touch. Also I work in the restaurant business so I completely understand that these things happen once in a while which is why I will be back to give them another shot and I would probably recommend them to a friend. But based on my first time experience this is the review I have to give. I will be sure to update after I go back.
