The exterior of Pig Feathers doesn't look like much...and it doesn't look like much on the inside either. But who needs anything fancy when they serve BBQ this good! I ordered the full rack of pork ribs. They were absolutely amazing. The meat of young pigs is hickory smoked and then they use their incredible sweet smokey sauce as the final touch to push them to perfection. The tender meat has an almost bacon-like taste to it; a very unique flavor I've never experienced with ribs before. By the time I finished I definitely needed the provided wet nap! I also had several sides: bbq beans, fries and coleslaw. The beans were excellent. The fries were hand-cut and tasted good but they were a bit limp & soggy. The coleslaw wasn't very good and I only had a bite before wondering how fresh it was. Service was small-town-friendly albeit a little slow due to only one waitress being on duty for the entire place. If I was ever in the area again there is no doubt I would stop in again for the ribs or the pulled pork sandwich (the latter I didn't have myself but my nephew raved about his).

Driving around the bay from Newport we arrived in Toledo Oregon, looking for a beverage. Much to our surprise we hit a bonanza of brewing and BBQ delight. Pig Feathers BBQ opened first and connected to this charming restaurant is their very own Twisted Snout Brewery and Public House. The Q---has been described by Fodors as the best bbq this side of Missouri. So bummer we weren't starving so we sampled their wings. Loved the explanation by our server regarding HOT. I was fond of the Slather Sauce, and we sampled the Buffalo as well. She was spot on regarding heat, and and it comes with (very, very crisp) ice-cold celery sticks with ranch or bleu. She also was informative, friendly and a hard worker. The current seasonal was Hoppy Hog, and I sampled a nitro pour Chocolate Stout. The stout was smooth, chocolatey with a balanced taste. I would make a trip to Oregon to try their BBQ. Really!

Pricey but if you are craving BBQ then price is the last thing on your mind.

It tasted good. At first. Had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and cole slaw. The fries were massively greasy. The sandwich itself tasted good. But, about 15 minutes after eating . . . I lost it all. I'll spare you the visual. Once it was out of my stomach, I felt fine. So. I don't know. I'm not certain I'm willing to try it again. Fluke? Try at own risk.

Out of town guests had read reviews praising this place, so we tried it again with them. We were all disappointed...the 1/2 rack of ribs was very small and dry; the chicken breasts (described as hammered w/chipotle rub) were pounded flat and were VERY dry and tasteless. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but not great--and the fries were over-cooked, limp, and tasteless. Other than that, it was a great meal. :) However, the dark porter (porker) ale was very good.

This place is worth the drive from Newport. Their chicken wings and the variety of sauces are so yummy!

Great BBQ! Great service! It's a little off the beaten path but well worth the trip.

This is the kind of food that you want to keep eating even though you are full. One of the best BBQ I've had in my travels over the years. Paired with a Twisted Snout beer - can't go wrong. It is a family owned and run. Pace is slow. Be patient and enjoy. You can't get good ribs without taking the time. Coleslaw is average but add some of the BBQ sauce and you've bumped it up. Great baked beans. Fries are limp but they usually are when they are fresh cut and fried. Just slather them with sauce and there you have it.

The pull pork sandwich and ribs were delicious. Very tender meat. Great little BBQ joint.

took the drive off the beaten path while on vacation visiting Newport & Lincoln City after readying a review in a local travel magazine. place was about what I expected being in small town, no frills or ambiance - but definitely not a big city snob, so for me its always about the food first & foremost then second service. we arrive pretty early so my family was the first customers in for the day, so obviously their was no waiting or other service issues. Prices were very reasonable. and some pretty good home beers beers according to the 3 beer drinkers in our party. I ordered a full rack of ribs - I had left my glasses at our rental house, so had great trouble seeing the menu, so had to just go by instinct and ordered a rack of ribs. Ribs had great smoke on them and a really great sweet & smoky BBQ sauce -that we liked so much we got a bottle to bring back home. my only dislike was not till later when I could fully read the menu and their history - that he chooses to cook ribs coming for young pigs, so glad I didnt jst order a half-rack or i would have gone home still hungry I did take about a 1/3 of my ring home to have for lunch the next day, but when i heated them up and tried to eat them being the last 4 of the small ribs - their literally was just enough meat on them to hold the bones together - so with a rack coming for a young pig the end quarter of the rack is basically gonna be throw-away. I'll take regular full sized pork ribs any day, their more meat and more tender so worth the added expense. Would definitely go back if ever in the area again to try something different.

Service was horrible I was going to order more food and dessert but after waiting for over ten minutes I had to leave to get a drink from my truck. I was out of pop for over 15 min and first refill I had to almost beg for. Food tasted good other then fries were cooked hours before I got there it seems and ribs were to small for me but guess that is babybacks

See my tip, sometimes good, sometimes not good at all...thus the mixed reviews. Service is generally not too great, so if you get them on a good night, Consider yourself lucky! Best decision we made one time was to move next door (same owner) to the "twisted snout" and order some really good beer. Local craftsman excels at every style brew he has put out here. THEN with the good beer, order whatever food you want from next door. There are things to avoid...basically, if its meat, your good (if a little fatty at times) . Haven't loved anything made with a potato from here yet. So, a little hit and miss but with luck and sticking to essentials like Meat and Beer, you'll do fine!

Best BBQ pork sandwich I have had since moving to the west coast. This place gives you a reason to stop by the quaint town of Toledo. But beware the pulled pork sandwich is only served at lunch it is the best, however there ribs are top notch so you will love this place anytime. My biggest critique would be that the hot hot sauce while very delicious has barely a tickle of heat, I expect sauces to make you at least sweat if they claim they'll make you cry but this one fell way short on the heat, but a winner in the taste dept.

Worst BBQ i've ever had! I don't really know where to start here. Let's start with the service. The service left much to be desired. We literally waited for at least 15 minutes before the waitress even came to take our order. There was only 1 other table in there with 3 people at it. It was obvious that these we're friends of hers as she just was chatting away about this and that while we sat there with our menus down obviously ready to order. I wish that we had just left but I was really in the mood for some BBQ. What a dissapointment that was! The wings were sooo tiny they must have been off baby chicks and the overcooked tough ribs had hardly any meat on them at all! My husband got a burger and fries and the fries were inedible! They we're the greasiest fries i have ever seen. The worst part of all was the price! So ridiculously overpriced. Even if the food was good the portions would leave you needing more.

Best BBQ in Oregon! The service can be inconsistent, but the food is always amazing. The BBQ sauces made here are by the best I have ever had and we alway by some to bring home. This is a must visit when you come to the Oregon coast and maybe even worth the drive. If their service improved it would be a definite 5 star.

Best BBQ I have ever had. It is a must to visit it may be a little of the beaten path but you must go check it out. I have met the owner and they seem like a great family. Our large family went in with our young boys and they were helpful and patient with us. It has a rally cool vibe.

Read the reviews and we decided to eat here. A little bit off the beated track nothing great to look at. Food was excellent. People why are you not packing this place out? Go to Toledo OR. and enjoy a Pig Feathers BBQ.

Fantastic baby back ribs, wings, and prime rib! Tucked away in Toledo, this place has some incredible food!

I've been going to Pig Feathers for a few years now and I must say, So far, it's the best BBQ I've found on the coast. I usually do the pulled pork sandwich but today I chose a full rack of ribs, as did my guest. The ribs were tender, very little fat left on and tasty. I had mine dry and my guest had the medium sauce. My only wish though is, for as long as I've been going here I've always asked for a hot sauce, not a sweet sauce. Maybe I haven't asked the right person yet. So I take my own. Don't expect a fancy atmosphere here. It's two large rooms separated by a wall. One side's the restaurant and the other is the tap room where they serve their hand crafted beers. There's seating outside in the sun too!

So tasty! I had the prime rib with potato salad and a baked potato, and everyone else in my party was happy with their selection (ribs, wings). Heads up that they don't serve hot pulled pork sandwiches or prime rib stand (like a sandwich I think?) after 5 on Fridays and Saturdays to make room for their prime rib. A great little joint!

I feel as though this was very over rated! In not saying it was horrible but it wasn't good and I won't go back. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was lacking sauce and should have came with cole slaw either on it or on the side. My husband had the wings and they where tiny and overpriced.

Good smoky ribs and wings with a decent selection of sauces. The Twisted Snout brews also provide a nice variety and pair well with the BBQ. My only major disappointment here was the prime rib I was served on my last visit. I ordered medium rare and was served a definite medium well going on well done. The server advised me it was because they pour jus over the meat and that darkened it. I tried to send it back, but she came back from the kitchen and told me all the meat was like that and insisted it was med rare. Bottom line, is I was served an overcooked prime rib with a healthy side of BS. Very disappointing. Overall I like this place and will stick to the 'cue in the future. One interesting note: We have ordered takeout from here and always get our food within 15 minutes. When we dine in, it invariably takes 30-45 minutes to see any food, regardless of how many diners are present. So thumbs up for the takeout service and excellent bbq, Pig Feathers, but I recommend you train your staff on proper meat temps.

These guys know BBQ! Excellent wings. Superb Brisket, and pulled pork is excellent! I didn't have room to try their ribs. Will have to do that next trip. They also own the brewery right next door. These guys have great food and drinks. Hope they keep it up!

The food here was awesome and we were able to sit outside. A bonus to get a "porker" from the little brewery next door to complement the meal! The only downside of this place is that service was a little slow even at a moderately busy time.

If this place was in Newport, it would be packed! The BBQ is amazing and the sauces are all homemade and range from sweet to peppery to scorching. Pig Feathers is always a crowd pleaser. The four adults and two kids all loved their meals -- rib plates, wings and pulled pork (which I tried and was very tasty). I had the poblano chile burger with cheese, this time, and it was delish! A very juicy burger. The kids especially loved the new sand box outside, great idea!

Been here before and the food was good but my visit today was meh. Ordered a pulled piggy sandwich and a blueberry sage burger. Neither was impressive enough for the $9/each price tag. The pulled pork was ok not memorable. The blueberry sage is an interesting taste similar to a sweet balsamic vinegar but you receive only a small one ounce container of the sauce. The fries that came with both were really gross--bitter, overly greasy, bland and mushy. Dining Options are limited in this area which may explain why this restaurant has done well for so long but seems the quality has faded.

The beer is fabulous. We had a 6 sample taster and they were all really good. We got an order of the Thai chile wings. Not as hot as I was expecting but full of nice flavor and very juicy. It was so good we wanted to go back for lunch tomorrow.

My wife and I are BBQ fanatics. Pig Feathers is about 35 miles away from us. So, we decided to take a trip down to Toledo to experience what this place had to offer. We went down on a Sunday early afternoon. It wasn't busy, which for us, was nice. The ambience was okay. The owner's wife waited on us and she was friendly. My wife ordered the half baby-back rib meal w/ hand cut fries and I ordered the full pound of pulled pork, a side of hand cut fries ( which was extra ) and a side of their award winning bbq sauce. We also ordered a Pepsi One each. The Pepsi One was in a can, which is disappointing. I really would've liked refills ect. The Food: My wife's baby-back ribs were very, very small. Barely any meat on the bone and was really black. The sauce was the best part of the ribs. My pound of pulled pork was what I can only guess was pot roast cooked in a slow cooker as it had no smoke nor bbq flavor on its own. The very small condiment container full of their award winning bbq sauce was just enough to pour over the top and then I tasted nothing but wet, soggy bland pork. The ' award winning ' sauce was just as bland. Service was 'ok'. Nothing to cheer about. For being the owners wife I would have expected a bit more attention. All in all I was really unsatisfied with the bbq for the price ( and the hype ). Was it terrible? No, was it disappointing, Yes.

Late on a sunny October Sunday afternoon, things were too crowded in Newport, so we hit the bayside road to Toledo to a brew pub we'd seen but not eaten at. A lovely 7-mile drive. Pig Feathers BBQ is the sister business to Twisted Snout Brewery. It's very casual and unassuming, bright and open and family friendly. Food: we had the pulled pork sandwich and a prime rib sandwich. Both were generous and tasty. The pulled pork was tender, but had no crispy or 'outside pieces' part to it. BBQ sauce was tasty but bland, if I'd ordered hot, I'm sure they would've accommodated. The prime rib sandwich was excellent though, very tender and juicy. Hand cut fries were OK, not quite as crispy as I like them, but I forgot to ask for that so no problem. The beer: we both had the brewed IPA and it was very good. Would we go back? Yes, for sure. Extra: If weather's nice, there's a VERY nice public marina just across the road, it's on the same estuary as Newport. There's a floating dock, a long walkway to a park area that features an outdoor covered steam engine and other neat stuff!!

The food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness.....all terrible. The only decent part of this restaurant is the beer. My boyfriend and I went for lunch. There was only 2 other customers in the restaurant and the bar was empty. The waitress probably said 20 words to us. The fries were really greasy and inedible. The burger was okay and the pulled pork sandwich was okay, but not something I would expect from a supposed BBQ champion. And the service was very slow. The table was dirty and the floors were disgusting. And they have a TV in the bar but it wasn't on. It was dead quiet and eerie. A couple of customers came into the bar while we were eating and appeared to be regulars because the owners and waitress talked with them And knew their order. They proceeded to talk about septic tanks and plunging toilets and the lady scrapped her callouses on the table. Don't waste your money. Or if you do stop just have beer.

The food may be pretty decent, however the service is atrocious. I attempted to get some food here yesterday in between switching out the huge paper mill. I called in to place an order and was put on hold for about 8 minutes. After that amount of time, I realized my order was not worth their time and hung up. I had my phone on speaker so I could do paperwork at the same time. Obviously the girl forgot about me cause you could hear her BS'ing with people in the background. The other time I have gone in the service was almost non existent. Like others, I thought maybe I had to order at the counter, but was assured it was a sit down joint. I had the ribs/wings combo and the ribs weren't half bad. A little dry, but the barbecue sauce helped. The wings I thought were a literal joke. These are the smallest things I have ever seen and assume they came from a cornish game hen. The size of a teenagers thumb. I would be ashamed to serve something like this. Coworkers have gone in and tried to substitute things like coleslaw for baked beans and they will not do it. I love good barbecue, but I hate bad service even more. I'll give them one last shot next time I have to work over there because the saving grace is their really cheap prices for barbecue. They are less than half of what Bo-macks in Albany charges, but I hear Bo-macks has great service. Also tried calling about a half hour later and the phone was still busy so she must have really forgotten. This place does not care about it's customers.

Having recently relocated to Oregon after being in a job that allowed me to travel in TX, OK, MO and other great meccas of BBQ, I have been on the hunt for anything that would hold a candle to the great brisket, turkey and ribs that I have enjoyed. Naturally, I was intrigued by ad a restaurant guide saying Fodor's rated this restaurant the best BBQ in the PacNW. So we made the short drive over to Toledo to check it out. The menu says the proprietor was an Oregon state champion of BBQ - more good news. My clan and I all ordered the ribs basket. The sauce was decent, but the ribs were a bit dry and chewy. In my book the meat on a properly cooked rib should fall from the bone. The fries left much to be desired. Finally, in a coups de grace there was "no coke - pepsi." Alas, my quest for good BBQ in the PacNW will continue. I'll be smoking my own ribs this weekend.

I grew up in Toledo, but live in Portland now. We never had any real restaurants there when I was growing up. So nice to have microbrews and good BBQ now! My only complaint is that on our visit, we ordered the daily special, Tri-tip sandwich and the sandwiches showed up with no sauce on them and when we asked for BB! sauce, we were each charged $1 extra. We were also charged $1 extra for ranch dressing for our fries.
