I am visiting from CA and decided to give this place a try despite so bad reviews. Service is hometown friendly and so was restaurant. Food is good not bad at all. I would say give it a chance. We got pancake, French toast and cream of wheat.

How on Earth is this place getting four and five star reviews? This is tied with the Still Creek Inn on Mt Hood for Worst Restaurant Ever. I should say that the server and the cook were both incredibly nice. There was no problem with the service, uh, at least not really. The place is roughly 100 years old, and was obviously smoked in for a good 95. It reeks of a century of Pall Malls. The diner itself is cute, and it's easy to feel like it's 1935 while you're in there. It is charming in that way, with murals and old photographs on the walls, and some vintage (read: 50 year old, original) equipment behind the counter (coffee makers, milkshake machines, etc.). While the joint was stinky and old, it did seem clean. The server was a lady who did not seem as though she had even the slightest idea of how to be a server in a restaurant. While she was very sweet, she had one speed (guess which one) and could not remember anything. We had a group of 8, and she wrote our orders down. A few minutes later, our dishes began coming out, TWO AT A TIME. As in, the cook would make two dishes to completion, send them out, then begin the next two dishes. Even though the server had literally just taken our orders, as each plate came out she had to ask us "who has the burger?", "who has the clam strips?", etc. Of course when the first of us to get our food were finished eating, the last of us had still not been served. The food itself was completely devoid of any flavor. Literally one of the worst meals I've ever been served. The burger was dried out and way overcooked, unseasoned and flavorless. The clam strips were frozen, low quality (In Tillamook I want fresh seafood dammit), overfried to rubbery blech. The fries were probably Western Family frozen potatoes, no seasoning, bland and flavorless. Everyone else seemed to feel the same about their meals, although the teenage boys liked their pancakes. Bonus points for the crazy lady who sat right next to me at the counter, even though there were other seats available, and ate a bowl of tobasco sauce with a spoon while staring at me the whole time. Yes, this happened. Very nice people, horrific food.

Cute small town cafe with quick, friendly service and an impressive menu. I recommend the teriyaki burger.

We had breakfast there and the waitress was very friendly. She kept our coffees full and was very personable. The food came out quickly. It was predictable 'greasy spoon' diner food and the coffee was kind of crappy, but it was cheap and a good way to start the day.

Based on the reviews here we ventured to have a later lunch here before heading home. The chicken fried steak caught my eye as it is my favorite diner food, and i pretty much base my like or dislike of the place based on this dish. The place was empty but it was late and we got in just as they were closing. It had that good diner vibe, it was worn, and loved and i had a good feeling. The server was friendly, and the meal was huuuuge. as you can see, i was starving and I couldn't not eat it while it was piping hot and had to take a break to take a picture. so we had chicken fried steak breakfast and the rueben with fries. Excellent diner fries and hash browns. The eggs were perfect over medium and the steak was a top the gravy to show off it's gorgeous crispy fry. (best idea ever by the way, it helps if you don't like the gravy as well, which i did). The country gravy was milky and thick the hashbrowns crispy and well cooked, the steak was awwwwesome. so flavorful, it stood out on it's own with out having to have the gravy. now that's a chicken fried steak. The rueben was meh, ok, good flavor but who ever said it's better than K&Z is maybe taking crazy pills. but all in a all it was excellent. FYI - there are no sweets at this place, i was excited at jasons whole marionberry pie thing, but the server said the closest thing to pie they had was ice cream..not close at all. pie less we drove home.

I read the few other reviews written before mine and second-guessed if I was even reviewing the same place. Food was very much greasy spoon fare - but lacked all that makes eating greasy junk food worth it; flavor. It just didn't taste all that good going in my mouth. All I really tasted was grease, honestly. Everything was a little off. Coffee tasted chalky and like mothballs. Fries tasted like they were once in a freezer for, who knows how long, then baked, put back in the fridge, then reheated. Grilled cheese was quite good in comparison, generous amount of cheese, but still the grease prevailed. (Yeah, I know a grilled cheese sandwich is inherently greasy, but come on, there is a limit to everything.) I did appreciate the local charm. Friendly young waitress with really bad teeth. Behind the front cafe area, there is a back room, (classic "lounge"), where you will find the old men with oxygen tanks (really) enjoying some crappy movie on tv and starting their drinking early. Our cook could have been my grandmother, so I really did want to like it more because it was truly just so darn cute But I STILL have the taste of a greasy pan in my mouth hours later.

Lunch in Tillamook. I checked Yelp to see what people suggested, and this diner came up. Only two reviews, but both 5 stars. Ok, so I'll give it a try... And it did not disappoint. Typical diner fare, sure, but top quality. As in, I would actually seek out eating here if it was closer (not the case for most diners in Portland) We stopped in for lunch on our way into Oceanside, and then again for breakfast on our way back to Portland. Try the hashbrowns!

Like the other reviewer (Joanna Y.) said this is a classic greasy spoon but without the flavor. I read the other reviews and I am simply amazed this place can get a 4 or 5 star. I went there with my family and we ordered a Reuban, Pattymelt and I had the gravy with hashbrowns and it really did taste like mothballs. The two sandwiches were as bland and flavorless as could be with a very high grease content. My wife tasted the gravy and told me, "...you have to stop eating that, there is seriously something wrong with it..." She was thinking it was either bad or had chemicals in it. I stopped eating it. When we went there it was right at noon, and you would expect the place to be crowded or at the very least have a couple customers...we were the only customers for the whole lunch hour. This makes me wonder, did we go there when the "bad" cook was there and only we as out of towners didn't realize it??? Edit, we also had the "grandma" cook...is that the link?

Cute little diner in the middle of town, complete with locals in the back chatting and drinking coffee. Good cheap diner food. Don't go in expecting anything more than wholesome greasy spoon fare and you're good to go. Huge crispy pancake for my son, bigger than his head. A ham and cheese omelet with actually noticeable chunks of ham and cheese. Tasty fresh hash browns. Doesn't get much better as far as diner food goes. Decor leaves something wanting, but really this isn't the kind of place you go on a date, it's where you go for a hearty filling meal.

This place would make the perfect setting for a slasher film. I actually feel kinda lucky I made it out in one piece. Gravy tasted just like paste. Mmmmmmmm, paste.

We were on our way through Tillamook and needed some grub, and picked this place because we liked the sign. no joke. We were the only people in there, except for the lounge in the back, which normally worries me, but in reality, I had nothing to fear. Standard diner fare, but everything was really fantastic. We'll definitely be stopping in again if we pass through!

tillamook cannot be accused of having too many restaurants. when i lived in the area, i frequented this cool old diner whenever possible. i usually don't eat much pie, but it's hard to resist when the marionberries are in season.
