When you pull into the parking lot of this place, I urge you not to be put off by the partially lit "Open" neon sign, old deck with broken wood floors, and dive-bar feel of the interior. Also, don't be put off by the cranky employees who are friendly one minute, serious the next. I tell you this because you may be tempted to leave without experiencing some of the great, fresh seafood. The sandwiches are great, the fried seafood is great, the prices are very fair. If you overcome your presumptions when you first pull in, you won't be disappointed. Especially if you order the amazing Crab Melt Sandwich. You may be tempted to order a second one after your taste buds are done with their orgasm. Trust me, and you may see me here, because I will definitely be back.

Really good, lightly breaded fish and chips, excellent Tatar sauce... A little overpriced in my opinion. Overall good experience!

This is a run down place but I didn't care I wanted to try the worlds best chowder. My husband ordered the fish and chips and clam chowder, I ordered the crab melt. With two waters this came to $30. First impression a little iffy but they say good seafood isn't cheap. Well the lady taking our order didn't say that, she barely said a thing. Just gave us the impression that we were inconveniencing her. We were so disappointed. The best thing was the chowder but it wasn't worlds best. My husband thought the fish and chips were soggy and bland. The crab melt was terrible. No flavor, no crab. It tasted like a greasy mayo mixture on bread. While we were eating they started closing up around us. Good seafood isn't cheap and neither is bad. We'll go to bay city next time,

It's a pretty divey little joint, right across from the Tillamook Cheese Factory. The cafeteria at the Factory struck me as a bit too cafeteria-ish, so we scampered across the highway to try this place. Glad we did. It's not the cleanest of places. There is just one person doing everything so I'm okay with letting that part slide. On to the food. I thought the Clam Chowder was great. All of the ingredients were in proportion to each other; not overwhelmed by potatoes. I had an Oyster Shooter. I don't actually LIKE them but this one was good, nice and smokey. Be warned; you have 2 choices on how your food gets cooked- 1-deep-fried 2-see #1. I already told you it was a joint, so waddaya expect? WALL-O-HOT SAUCES WALL-O-HOT SAUCES WALL-O-HOT SAUCES!!! They have a great selection of sauces, many of which I have not seen before. They also sell fish that you can cook yourself. From now on, this is a required stop when I'm in the area.

Totally do not get how this roadside dive got categorized as 'barbecue'. There is nothing BBQ in the place. This is a fish market and seafood (I don't know what to call it) place that serves an excellent fish n chips. Stopped by because another reviewer said to not be put off by the appearance of the place or the front man taking your order. True! When we asked for the crab melt, he said they were out, stating: Rather run out than throw anything out. I can respect that motto, so we changed our order and enjoyed the delicious fresh fish perfectly breaded and fried. Glad we turned around and ate our lunch there.

Really? Just two other reviewers? Either this place is getting missed or maybe some people are not all that great about Yelping this place. What a shame. The Great Stuff: - as the sign says: good seafood isn't cheap, and cheap seafood isn't good; boy, is that the truth! However, the prices aren't bad. They really aren't. - Oyster Shooters for $1.50 each? Yes, please. If you're like me, ask for the cocktail sauce on the side so you can do what you please. - the clam chowder is VERY good; for whatever strange reason, the one at Rockaway isn't as good. But at THIS location, it's great. The Not So Great Stuff: - I really can't think of any. Honestly!

We walked in and pretty much walked right out because it was so filthy. The floors and tables were dirty and it's fish so couldn't trust it.

Awesome clam chowder and the best crab cocktail on the coast. The smoked sturgeon and salmon are great too. If its fresh fish you want, they have that too.... All at reasonable prices! The best place to eat in Tillamook.... BY FAR!

Have always loved this place. Some of the best crab I've ever had. Until today. We drove a half hour down the coast from where we are staying to delight in their crab melt. One in our party has a gluten allergy, so we attempted to work with the counter waitress to find a solution that would work for her. We thought we had it, until she went to the manager with it, who sarcastically shouted out that there was no way to do that, and anyway, it's not on the menu. The counter waitress, clearly embarrassed at her manager's behavior, came back and told us it wouldn't work. We then attempted to order a cheeseburger, (remove the bun, and you're golden) despite it seeming beside the point at an awesome seafood place, and we were told they don't have that, DESPITE it being on the menu. Wonderful food. Really awful rude manager. Maybe the owner could make a change?

My mom had been here before and recommended the crab melt. The way she had described it made it my sole mission to eat a crab melt from this place during our trip to the coast. So when we stopped by about noon and the guy working here said that the person bringing the crab was late and they wouldn't have any for another hour/hour and a half, we left...and came back an hour and a half later, starving. The place is pretty divey and if it hadn't been for the hype of the crab melt, I might have just gone elsewhere. It cost probably a buck or two more than I normally would have wanted to pay as well, but I guess it's understandable when you are eating seafood that fresh and man, that melt really was as delicious as I had imagined, maybe even a little more so. The crab was smoked and mixed in a nice creamy sauce with herbs and then smothered with cheese on a piece of toasted bread. It was just a tad greasy with all of the cheese, but I loved it. Boy, it really hit the spot and I can't think of anywhere that I've tried a better melt yet. It almost makes me not want to try a crab melt from any other place because I would compare it to this one and most likely be disappointed. I would probably drive through Tillamook on my next trip to the coast just to stop here for a bite--hopefully the crab would be delivered earlier though.

At first we were somewhat skeptical. The place looked empty and run down when we drove up. Practically the entire menu is fried. My mother is gluten intolerant and about the only edible item for her was the clam chowder. However appearances can be decieving. Since they weren't busy, the woman at the counter offered to grill some fish instead of frying it to accomodate our needs. We all ordered halibut and sat outside on the deck. When the food did come, it was good. I would recommend getting your food grilled instead if they're able to. Overall, good place.

Not bad clam chowder. I had the fried crab cake and fries. Very good. First I've had. Friendly counter people.

They have the best clam chowder I've ever had. I already ate one serving, and then the lady comes out to get the oysters from the smoker. She gave me a sample....and the next thing I know, I'm standing at the register ordering another serving of the chowder with smoked oysters mixed in this time. I don't remember how much I paid, the food was just that good. The restaurant is located right across from the Tillamook cheese factory, so you can come here for the chowder and then go across the street for some good ice cream!

My date and I stopped in since it was so contently located across the street from the Tillamook cheese factory. I ordered the special, shrimp melt for $9.00. My date ordered the med sized bowl of clam chowder ($6.00). And we both got one smoked Oyster a piece for $1.25 each. To break it down: Shrimp Melt. Tasted like a shrimp dip on top of a toasted bun, topped with a ton of cheese. Good, delish, but a bit too rich for my personal liking. My Boyfriend thought it was perfect. The Clam Chowder was delightful, flavorful, and not thick or full of filler potatoes. They were in there but not to over power the flavor of the soup. Now for the prize winner here. Smoked Oysters. HOLY Amazingness that is food. They were sweet, tender, and the right amount of smoke flavor to complement any mouth patel. They were so wonderful, we went back in and got two more for dessert! Now lets also mention the WALL that is HOT SAUCE. All for sale. They had rows and rows of hot sauce, all unique and nothing you will find in any local grocery store. If you are at the Factory across the street or just want to check it out. I highly recommend that you do it! Don't Judge the place on the cleanliness of the tables. First of all he is a one man show. It appears that he does everything himself. When we were there there was a line of 3 people, ordering as well as he was cooking. Its a dive, what do we all learn in our late 20's.... Dives are typically they best food ever. They pass food inspection, I say don't judge the place just enjoy the food!!

Roadside dump. Very good fried seafood. To quote the place;"good seafood isn't cheap, cheap seafood isn't good." How true. Stop in you won't be disappointed.

Ohhhhh my gosh Ohhhhh my gosh! So fabulous and fresh and flavorful! And super great value!

Food was decent but nothing over the top. They were out of crab cakes and the crab melts. Service was fine but a bit rude - almost like it was a pain to have people there. We wouldn't go back.

Decent prices on fish and close to where I go camping every year makes this place a frequent favorite. Friendly helpful staff, fresh fish and enough time to get it to the grill before the freshness wears off. I shall return.

This was one of the hardest places I have ever reviewed. Food was 5 star, fresh and cooked to perfection. We had a large group and tried about everything on the menu and everything was fresh and very good! Atmosphere however, a 1- star! Extremely filthy. Tables were all dirty when we walked in and the one working made no attempt to clean. No surprise considering he couldn't even pull up his pants. He was too cool I guess and thought we all wanted to see all of his boxers! Power company came in demanding money or would shut off power. He paid, handled money, cut fresh fish for an order and never washed his hands before preparing our food. We were worried about ecoli but hoped the deep frying process would kill all bacteria. The best of the food was the chowder and crab cocktail! Fish and chips were the best we ever had, but the filth takes away from the overall experience. We called it making memories!

I'm giving this place 5 stars because I rate by food. I don't consider ambiance to be a factor in places like this. Basically a fish market with super fresh fish, good prices and small town feel. Food is 5 stars. I loved the crab cocktail. Wife loved the fish a chips. Even the coleslaw was fresh and crunchy. I would definitely take my friends when we visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory again. I probably wouldn't take my parents because they are a little more pretentious in their old age. They would be freaked at the hole-in-the-wall, shack style of it. They'd probably think it's dirty and judge the bearded fisherman owner. So be aware of the type of person you bring. I'd assume the owner would rather flip you off then listen to your frivolous complaints. But thats really what I liked about it. Its take it or leave it style. I don't know about you, but I'll take it. I'd rather enjoy my great meal and laugh the rest off then take life too seriously and miss out.
