Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I have a favorite here and I always order the chile rellano. I've never had it anywhere or even in my own home, I don't think anything could compare. My hubs usually goes for the carne asada tacos.. Enchiladas are not that great here.

I had a bowl of menudo there. Cows may have four stomachs but the best menudo is made from honeycomb tripe. Don't know what kind of meat was in this but it wasn't that and it was fatty and tough. The broth was alright to start with, but it grew harder to enjoy toward the bottom. The price was about two dollars more than most non-fancy restaurants, and most menu items were overpriced for the quality of restaurant. My dining companion found her dish not quite up to par, too. Service was fine from the waitress, and she brought us extra chips and beans. But when we went to pay, the person at the counter asked us if we wanted our change of 95 cents (we'd already left a tip on the table.,) I said yes, but he went away and started bringing food to another party. All in all, this place is now on the bottom of my list of places to eat in The Dalles.

Always great people. I love the atmosphere. The food is good. It's not always constant. The drinks are great. I love there salsa. There tamales are really great.

ATTENTION VEGETARIANS! We had the vegetarian spinach burrito and it was excellent. Sauted mushrooms, red and green peppers, onions, black beans, rice, spinach, yummy green sauce, with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo on top. Very tasty. Not like the common veggie burrito where they just leave off the meat. Also, they not only give you complimentary chips and salsa, but a bean dip too. They were busy, but service was great despite. Very attentive waiters. Nice authentic atmosphere as well. We'll be coming back on our way through next time. Have to update this because unfortunately since we were here a year and a half ago the food has gone downhill to say the least. Tortilla soup was like big c;hunks of chicken in slightly flavored water. Vegi burrito was not that good either. Only good part was the warm chips, tasty salsa and bean dip. Don't know what happened since last time, maybe new cook.

The enchiladas red sauce has no flavor... It's dumpy, there were carrots and large chunks of uncooked onion in my enchiladas. I was SO hungry I ate some of it but it was terrible.

There was only one review but it was a 5 star. We just had lunch there and agree! It was a wonderful meal. All 4 of us agree ... 5 star!

The old man saw us waiting at the front to be seated and ignored us. Finally the young woman took us to a table. His table. Yes, the old man's table. The young woman brought chips and salsa, which was a good thing because it took Old Man a lonnnng time to wait on us. Finally a drink order. A hispanic family was seated behind us. He waited on them immediately. We are Caucasian. Finally drinks arrived. Still we wait to order. The young woman asks if we want more chips and salsa. Yes. And I mentioned we wanted to order. I saw her tell the Old Man. He ignores us, walks past, gives food to the table behind us and never lets us order. Finally he comes to get our order. I just want to know... WTH? Old man, what is your problem? I definitely felt like he was discriminating against Caucasians. I used to like Tijuanas in The Dalles. Now, not so much.
