Let me start by saying that we didn't try their pizza so maybe that makes this establishment worthy of the good overall review record. My wife and I were very underwhelmed. We both had burgers which were ok, the crinkle cut fries were like the ones you can buy in the grocery store and bake at home. We both tried the strawberry lemonade and it was disgusting - not sure if it was some kind of powder mix. It is a reasonably large establishment with only 2 single bathrooms to serve everyone. We are not from The Dalles so found our way there because of the Yelp reviews. Definitely not worth an average 4-star rating.

This was a solid pizza place. Atmosphere: Very busy, both in terms of lights an glitz and decor, and in terms of people! No doubt it was a holiday weekend and a Sunday, but it was before 5 o'clock, and it seemed like everyone in town came along! Not a bad sign. One thing I couldn't decide on: an employee kept using a sweeper vacuum all over the place. On one hand, I appreciated the concern for cleanliness. On the other hand, I felt like I was already in the way with all the people around, and this was just one more environmental thing to look out for. Service: Friendly. We told the gal at the counter that we were from out of town, and she gave us suggestions of things to see. Also quite speedy; we waited a shorter amount of time than we expected for our pizza. Food: Decent. The pizza toppings were a nice combination (we got the barbecue chicken pizza, I'm forgetting the actual name), and the bread was definitely edible, but it didn't have the flavor that takes it to the next level. The texture was nice and crisp and I liked it. One more weird thing: the bathrooms are laid out kind of strangely. At least with the women's bathroom, the area with the toilet and the sink are kind of around the corner making it seem like a bathroom that would have stalls, but NOPE: it's a single. So don't forget to lock the door when you walk in! (This just in: husband confirms that the men's bathroom is laid out the same way. He actually initially accidentally walked in on someone who forgot to lock up!)

Three words....BEST PIZZA EVER!!!! When there was no Spooky's for awhile I would crave the pizza. I grew up in TD and live in Portland area now but my mom knows that when we come to visit there always has to be a trip to Spooky's planned. I order the same thing every time. A large MOP pizza. Mmmmm....mmmm!!!

Overpriced cheaply made pizza. I was hoping for better from a restaurant with 4 stars. The cheese is practically plastic and boy do they use a lot of it. $30 for a simple tomato basil pizza with breadsticks? Never again.

The food is good. Always come here for family birthdays. It's loud but great for kids.

This place far exceeded my expectations. I'd call it 'not just another pizza parlor'. The menu and service were both great! I had the Alamo salad with Cajun chicken and was very impressed. The thing was HUGE and easily enough for two meals. I was fascinated by the brewery selection, but since I was driving, opted for water instead.....another time, perhaps :).

This is a reliable stand by. Good pizza, good fries, funky decor, and friendly staff.

I grew up eating Spooky's pizza on a regular basis, and have never been disappointed. I love their thin cracker crust and endlessly refillable drinks. The salads are big and tasty, full of delicious ingredients. My one tiny nit-picky comment would be about the dressing on the oriental salad. It overpowers the other flavors in the salad. Maybe less dressing, or put it on the side, not all mixed in? Spooky's is not shy with the cheese, which is important to a good pizza or cheesy breadsticks. Sometimes, I'll just get the cheesy breadsticks with ranch dressing and have a small salad. You get, 8 breadsticks per order. Plenty for 2 or 3 people to share. I can't comment on the marinara sauce that usually comes with the sticks because I don't eat it. My son seems to like it a lot, though. Spooky's is very family friendly, with a game room, a TV room, and several coin operated machines to keep the kids busy while dad watches sports. A nice addition to Spooky's is their coffee bar and drive through window. You can order the typical coffee and espresso drinks and pick them up at the counter, or, you can go through the drive through to get coffee anytime during open hours, or even to pick up your Spooky's pizza order. NICE! I love the convenience of that. Spooky's does not deliver, however, and that is a bit of a frustration when I'm home with aches and pains from my disability and I can't drive over there. I do miss the little mud pies and grasshopper pies that they used to serve (admittedly back in the 70's and 80's). They were so good. The service is always friendly at Spooky's. Everybody smiles and is helpful, right down to bringing you extra napkins, a fork, or bussing your table , even though they have a self service bar where you can get your pizza toppings like parm cheese, red pep;er flakes, etc, , silverware and napkins, and straws. I've been here lots of times for various parties and gatherings, and Spooky's is dependable, clean, and delicious, every time.

Spookys is worth the stop on your drive. Fresh, everything homemade, very fast and yummy! The staff is really great, Jason the manager is the best! The price is a bigger, but worth the homemade crust and everything fresh.

FOOD: Pizza is really good, others in the family really enjot the burgers. SERVICE: The service is primarily high scool kids who are nice, there are a few dicey looking folks working there but honestly nothing that I wouldnt expect froma big pizza parlor. AMBIENCE: It's pretty much a standard pizza parlor aimed at the whole family experience. It is a bit old and dingy - the mens bathroom is a bit of a labyrinth.. ALL-IN-ALL: if you have kids or a big group and pizza is sounding good, this seems to be a good option.

Great place to stop for pizza when driving through the gorge. I don't like pizza, but my sister told me that is about the only place to stop and to order the personal pizza and since I was exhausted after 5 days on the road I didn't even look at the menu, I just did what she told me. Despite my hatred for all things pizza, it was very good. Now that I know they have more than pizza, next time I will try something else.

We came in on a Sunday at noon-- awesome pizza and good service. However, the guy with his guitar singing Christian music to the whole restaurant was a huge turn off. Won't come back on a Sunday.

I see most of the reviews are pretty critical of the pizza. I love it. Maybe I'm not as sophisticated as some of the other reviewers. If you want something exotic on your pie, then go find a California Pizza Kitchen, or some place like that. Spookys is much more than pizza. The sandwiches, and salads are great. The Bigfoot is my favorite. Service is always fast, and the restaurant is clean. Easy to get to from the freeway. Little game room for the kids. Plenty of space for the family, and private parties. It may not be the best pizza that I have ever eaten, but worth a visit. A lot of history in The Dalles. Been going to this place since the 70's. The owners are nice people, and do a lot to support charity events, and youth sports.

3 stars on Yelp means a-ok, and Spooky's is a-ok. I mean - I don't think anything is homemade, they might not have some creative flavor combinations, but the food is like...a hometown version of Applebees...and somedays, it just works. If you're in The Dalles with kids, then go. Big space, little arcade, great for groups, TV for sports, easy ordering process and it's clean. If you're looking for a nice dinner, then duh, Spooky's obviously isn't for you. But if you're looking for a family friendly place in The Dalles, this is better than any fast food, and The Dalles has A LOT of fast food.

The pizza was decent - cheesy breadsticks okay - quick service (food arrived quickly) - pricing was good - atmosphere was eclectic and intersting - a lot going on visually. I'd eat here again........

Two stars for service, five stars for pizza, so I tried to average it out (with my stomach getting preferential treatment of course). The pizza here is absolutely outstanding. When we first moved to The Dalles, my husband and I tried all the pizza places in town and this one is definitely the best. Crisp thin crust with lots of cheese. My favorite is The Luau add breakfast bacon and fresh mushrooms. The service could leave something to be desired however. One time our salad and two drinks were cleared while we played arcade games (our service number for our pizza was clearly sitting out!) and when we went to get it resolved they acted very suspicious of us, like we were trying to get free food or something. We were already irritated so it didn't help our mood. Another time I went to pick up a pizza to go and they had my salad ready but had "lost" my pizza ticket. It was a Saturday night and the whole ordeal took over fifty minutes before I was home with dinner. The young girl helping me said she'd ask her manager for some type of coupon to compensate me for my troubles. However when I spoke with her again when she brought out my pizza she said he was too busy to ask. Ugh. On the other hand, I would still recommend the pizza. Because it's delicious.

I have been frequenting Spooky's pizza for the past six years for outstanding pizza pies, fresh creative salads & great burgers. I personally love the style of their pizza, cracker crust, and just the right amount of sauce, order yours any way you please, pepperoni - ultra gourmet they can make it right. Hungry? Order their "big foot" sandwich, two burger patties with cheddar on a giant toasty hoagie roll, I order mine with fresh avocado, & fried onions... I'm guilty of finishing one on more than several occasions. Service is attentive, and creates a friendly environment as well as a comfortable atmosphere.

Spooky's is exactly what one should expect from a pizza parlour: tasty thin crust pizza, fast and friendly service, plenty of seating, games, a fire pit, and taxidermy. When you've had enough of wood fire, brick oven, exotic pizza and just want an experience that gets you back to your pizza parlour roots, Spooky's will be there for you.

I love the pizza! Great sandwiches, too. Huge salads. Great sandwiches. Loved the cblt that another reviewer recommended. I've never had a bad experience here. Family atmosphere (yes, KIDS!) so I order my food over the phone and then go and pick it up. Delicious food.

Sorry. For one, I couldn't figure out what they were trying to be...Fast food/restaurant/bar/game stop..? I could get past the haunted theme menu and maybe the old country decor, but I could NOT get past the shitty service. Granted, they were teenagers, but that was no excuse for the piss poor attitudes. Went up to order and the kid didn't acknowledge us. After an awkward moment of silence, we went into our order. When we ordered drinks, she barely nodded her head, and I had to ask her twice if she had gotten it until she finally used her words and said yes... Sat down, and after a while they brought us our appetizers. The breadsticks were ok, but the pizza sauce that was used in place of marinara was watery and tasteless. The giant salad we ordered came with more breadsticks, and that was the only highlight of the meal. The Chicken Caesar salad was pretty iffy, so I didn't bother finishing it. The lettuce was fresh, but the chicken just didn't seem right, and I didn't want to risk it. In the 20 minutes we were there, we had 3 different "waiters" come up and ask if we needed anything, which was kind of strange, considering they did this with no one else. When I asked for napkins, they said they would be back with some and never did...Odd. Anyway, considering it wasn't a cheap meal (40 dollars WITHOUT anything alcoholic) I expected a lot more. Maybe just a friendly greeting when I come up to order...oh wait! won't be doing THAT again. Plenty of other places I can go to spend my money and be treated better. Thanks but no thanks.

The dalles is a small community of 12,000 people in the columbia river gorge of Oregon. It use to be home to an aluminum manufacturing plant for the cheap hydroelectric power (aluminim requires a lot of energy to make). Google is now one of the heavy hitters in town. Anyway, I was driving through the dalles one day and noticed this spooky looking place next to the bimart along the freeway. I was starting to get real hungry since it was around lunch time and decided to check it out. The menu was real basic with average prices. I went for the personal sized pizza with optional toppings. The service was average - I spent approximately 10 minutes in line waiting to order and another 20 minutes or so to get the food. Having spent time in Italy, my standards for rating pizza maybe a little high. I thought the pizza was only edible like one step above something out of the freezer. I would eat here again but only since other options are limited in this small community.

Spooky's was one of the first places I ate when I moved to The Dalles a couple of weeks ago. I'm glad I did. I can't say I completely understand the theme of the restaurant. It seems to be based on a character whose hat is, for some reason, shaped like the roof of the restaurant. But aside from the confusion, it's a darn good place. They've got a pretty fantastic beer selection for a place that's essentially a giant sandwich joint, plus they have a bunch of classic video games. I may be mistaken, but I think I saw Galaga. Or Centipede. Or Ms. Pacman. Or She-Donkey Kong. Or something. I don't remember because I was quarter-free at the time. I have a habit of getting the stupidest thing on the menu, so naturally I ordered the Pizza Burger. Much to my surprise, it was a damn fine sandwich. The pizza sauce was kind of sweet and the burger sauce was tangy. They worked together to make a meal that tasted exactly like a pizza and a burger. Truth in advertising, people, truth in advertising. The claw machine was out of order on my visit, so I can't give it a perfect five stars. I'm sorry, Spooky's, but sometimes a man just needs to win a fluffy toy to fully enjoy a restaurant. And this was one of those times.

Meh. Decent service, eccentric environment, bland pizza. Crust is too bread-y, sauce is plain tomato sauce, toppings are bottom-shelf grocery store meats. Everything tastes like everything else, nothing remarkable at all.

Went there for a burger. It was a burger, perhaps a bit too salty. The beer was beer. I mean, this place isn't the greatest in the world, but it's also not the worst.

This place is kinda a joke. The hours suck. We went in there on a Wednesday and my husband orders a pitcher of beer at 8:45 not knowing they close at 9pm in the middle of SUMMER! The lady that rang us up didn't say 1 word that they're closing in 15 min. Kinda pisses you off. ( left a whole pitcher of beer sitting there on the table). Then today, (Sunday) we go there for pizza and they're f-Ing closed! Are you kidding me! I'm not saying their food is bad. But Jesus, when are you open and how can you run a business when you're closing at 9 pm in the summer when the sun is still up and closed on Sunday's when it's one of the busier days for business, especially for families after church.

Edible pizza, nothing more. I went to Spooky's couple times for lunch with colleagues. The service has always been fine and we were served fairly quickly. What I can say about the pizzas is that there are edible. The quality of the ingredients tasted and looked cheap and pizzas have special nothing to dream about. I would say it is similar to pizzas you can eat at chain restaurants, not a fine pizza place. Since I definitely can cook something better at home, it falls in the "edible food" category.

Really cute place and family friendly, but neither my mom or I enjoyed the pizza. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't good. I wish I had tried the thin crust, but I'm not hopeful it would be better. The breadsticks were delicious though.

This is the only pizza place in The Dalles that is worth eating at. Such delicious pizza & sandwiches. Eclectic interior & seemingly endless seating. This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in TD.

Spooky's, man...I'm tellin' ya--the pie here is like the pizza of yore (e.g., the legends of Salem, yelp.com/user_details_re… ). The pizza has a thin cracker crust, very light but flavorful sauce, perfect topping placement, cheese right to the edge. Bam! I'm sold. In addition to the throwback flavors, Spooky's rocks the old-school, pizza parlor feel. A few fun video games, TVs, cozy booths, and warm colors. I think their pie is five stars all on its own, but just when I thought my opinion of them couldn't get any higher, the following story happened. My man and I were driving home from George, WA late night on the Sunday of labor day weekend. As we approached The Dalles, M sez, "I'm gonna call Spooky's and see if they're still open!" At this point, it's almost 11pm--so we're doubtful. But then, someone answers! I'm driving, the man's talking, and the first words I hear out of his mouth are "Oh, bummer, so you closed at 9:00, huh?" My heart sinks. Then M asks: "Well, do you recommend any other places around here to grab a bite?" Apparently Spooky's manager chuckled, said, 'no, not at this hour," and then proceeded to tell us that he would make us a pizza anyway! We were stoked! Turns out, the manager was there while the carpets were being cleaned. He couldn't leave, so he figured, why not help us out and make us a mushroom and tomato medium pie to go?* We sat in the parking lot and were rejuvenated by the veggie pie. In that one act of kindness, Spooky's fueled us to make it back to Eugene that night. We are forever grateful. *A cosmic gift not to be counted on in future visits.

Definitely an awesome little pizza place. I stopped by going through town and ordered their special which was a personal pizza with a side salad and drink for 7 bucks or so. I was very happy at the value of my food. The salad was mostly fresh and the pizza was hot. Definitely better than your average pizza. I dug the decor inside too. They had a room with a big-screen TV and sportscenter was on at the time. Bonus: they serve plenty of different types of beer! If you crave some decent pizza or you want a laid back place to hang out and drink (or both!), Spooky's is definitely worth checking out!
