I really wanted to have salmon during my trip to Oregon and I picked the right place to get it! Their salmon was grilled and served on top of mashed potatoes and asparagus spears. I ate every last bite. We also really enjoyed sitting out on the patio. (BTW - we didn't have a dog with us, but the patio is dog friendly and they had a water dish out there.)

The Terrebone Deot is a great place to stop after visiting Smith Rock. A decent restaurant with good food and a clean, relaxing atmosphere out in the middle of nowhere. Very nice surprise! I usually get the yummy fish tacos and a green salad. Great salad dressing! Everything else on the menu looks good, too, but I generally stick with the known winner. The location right on the train tracks is cool. Today the train actually went by, which was fun to watch.

Exactly what you need after a day of climbing, and some of the best burgers in the state. I have a little bit of a burger obsession -- medium rare, cheese and preferably a sesame bun -- no fry sauce, no mayo, no nothing. Or maybe some bacon if I'm feeling especially gluttonous. Terrebonne burgers with a cold beer hits the spot. I've probably been here about 5 or 6 times in the past year, we've started making it our regular stop after a trip to Smith. The first few meals were a bit uneven -- it seemed that the grill was running hot on one side and cold on the other -- so our burger was a perfect medium rare on one side, and nearly well on the other. But it seems they have worked their kinks out in subsequent visits. They had some damn good soup and chili, which is exactly what I needed to warm me up after climbing in late October. I've been meaning to try some other menu items, but the burgers and soup are just so good.

We haven't been here for a while and after hiking Smith Rock we were starving! I ordered the pork lettuce wraps. The pork was dry and crunchy...and not in the good way like bacon. My boyfriend got the Greek salad, it would have been good except for the long piece of black plastic wirey looking thing that was in it, ugh! The soup was bland, the fries overly garliced and the fish tacos were not good enough to order again. I guess it'll be a long time before we come back again. Pack your own picnic for Smith Rock rather than coming to the Depot.

Great location for a meal after a hike at Smith Rock. Beautiful historic building, a former train station. The items on the menu sounded delicious. I ordered the chicken caesar wrap while my dining companion ordered the chicken and rice curry soup and fish tacos. The chicken and rice curry came first and was much too spicy for our consumption. We then waited over 30 minutes for our entrees which seemed a bit long for lunch. Both entrees lacked in execution and flavor. The food was not worth the wait. Would recommend for the historic building not necessarily the food, though.
(3)Kathy J.
We have tried this place twice because I really want to like it, but neither experience has been worth raving about. I am a sucker for a historic building, and the service is always great, but the food is mediocre at best.

Ok, so I'll admit it. I've had a string of negative reviews, must be the election cycle or something. So it's incredibly refreshing to be able to slap down a FIVE start review with no remorse and no regrets. "The Depot" is incredible, and if you live in Oregon and haven't eaten here, you should be ashamed of yourself! If you've been to TERREBONNE and haven't been here, TRIPLE SHAME. Put simply, this is pretty upscale (upscale as in high-quality, not as in "baby chipmunk portions") food in a pretty laid back setting. There are always 8 good beers on tap and great photos on the walls (OK, the guy who took them may or may be a photographic hero/inspiration to me so I'm probably biased). Menu highlights? The Ahi is pretty much the best I've ever had in my entire life. I don't know if there's some sort of rare river Ahi that lives in Central Oregon or what, but it's incredibly raw, fresh, and delicious. I often also get the "special". What the special is is highly variable, and it's not written down anywhere so be sure to ask! The ribs are wet and fall off the bone, my favorite kind. The steak here is also excellent, and they are one of 3 places in the state of Oregon that will cook it rare when you tell them to cook it rare! Be sure to sit outside if the weather is nice, you'll be forced to look at one of three things: Smith Rock State Park Central Oregon Cascade A TRAIN! A WORD OF WARNING: be sure you call before you stop in to avoid disappointment, their business hours can be odd and seasonal. They are often not open in the beginning of the week and they don't stay open very late on Sundays! This place is so good that I often lust for a place like it in Portland. (If you know of such a magical place, PLEASE let me know)

We were greeted at the door by a guy who said the ladies had "nice pants" prior to seating us. Later, we all figured he was stoned as he also dropped food & flatware several times and ran into the booth behind us. But, the food... Awesome. Elk & beef was prepared well. The wine list had product from local vineyards and paired well with our meals. Definitely worth the visit!
(4)Vero S.
Great place! We took ribs and pork shoulder and the latter was awesome, very soft, served with purple rice and salad.
(5)Jane L.
Really enjoyed lunch here after a hike at Smith Rock. Food was outstanding, service attentive. One of the best meals I've had in the Bend area. I had the pork belly lettuce wraps -delicious and creative.
(5)Kent N.
Like others have said, the food is great, the decor is wonderful, the servers are serviceable, but the wait for your food is unbearable. We've been there when it's busy, we've been there when it's empty, and regardless it's sloooooooooow.
(2)Selena N.
We stopped off here on the way back here from camping at Crater Lake. I went out of my way to come here for this place was highly recommended to me. I have to say the fish tacos were ahi...not fried and some of the best tacos I've ever had. I'd go back for those. However, the waitress was slow...and kind of unsympathetic the great number of flies out on the deck. She could have used humor or said "sorry" at least..even though she couldn't control it. It ruined the experience for my Meetup pal and I. It was unpleasant. I think that she should at least say something to those who want to sit out on the deck. It would have been nice. I felt like the waitress was rude. I tipped her, but she hadn't deserved it. I just know that they work hard. SO, if you sit out on the deck be prepared for a LOT of flies is all. The tacos were outstanding though, and I would go back for those...I just was just really disappointed by the flies and we wish we had known...for we hurried out of there because of them.
(4)Brian C.
My favorite restaurant in all of Bend . All of their food is really fresh. Their fries are exceptionally good and they have Boneyard Beer. What more could you ask for after a fun day of climbing at Smith Rock.
(5)Ron F.
This was my 3rd visit. The other two times were reasonably good. This time, the place was under-staffed during what should have been an obvious busy day (near the halloween festivities). The organization of getting people sat was a shambles. Food was slow coming out, and one of the people in our group didn't get his burger until the rest of us were just about done eating. The burgers were also entirely average. The outdoor space there is nice, and there isn't much else in the area, but I certainly expected better....and to be charged for a meal that came out so late was a missed opportunity for them to make it right.

I imagine this place gets a lot of sweaty hikers just coming down off of Smith Rock. But the waitress paid little attention to our unpleasant appearance, our scruffy hair, dirty shirts, and dusty shoes. And maybe we had some mild body odor. lol. But we were hungry, this place was open and we didn't have a shower. We were treated kindly anyway :-) The service here was great, even if they may have prefered we sit outside in the heat. (Good thing we didn't. Our son was suffering from heat exhaustion and we didn't know it at the time. The water and cool air here is likely what kept him from going into heat stroke). We got the hummus appetizer and it was excellent. Everything about it was excellent! (Side note, I LOVE hummus!) I love what they did with the cucumbers on the side. I have never seen them served like that and it was enjoyable. I also got some of those with my mediterranean burger I ordered. Our food arrived quickly and it was all very good. Our drinks were always refilled when low and the server checked on us plenty enough. We really enjoyed dining here and returned two days later for dinner only to find out it was closed. :-( Major bummer. But at least we know it is here now for the next trip to Smith Rock. We'll be back.

UPDATED - The server contacted me and apologized for the service and seemed sincere in wanting to make sure that we came back to the restaurant and that he was sorry we had such poor experiences. I added a star and hope that the restaurant is paying attention. Thanks. 5 stars for the food ZERO STARS FOR THE HORRIBLE SERVICE Been here twice for dinner with friends. Got stuck with the same terrible server (name removed) both times. He was flat out one of the worst servers I've encountered - asks for your order and leaves or moves on to the next person before they have even finished ordering; shows up with the wrong things or gives an order to the wrong person again and again; forgets constantly; acts totally disinterested in anyone at the table like we're wasting his time; just dumps the food on the table without saying anything or clearing away the salad or appetizer plates, etc. I don't know if he practices at being terrible or just thinks he's way too cool, is the owner's son, or has never been trained, but I've talked to others that have been served by him and they had the same experience. HELLO MGMT!!?? You need to pay attention to what's going on in front as much as the kitchen because even though the food rocks people will stop coming in if they get such crappy service. As for the food, it is really well-prepared and very tasty, but we'll only be back if they put in a takeout window.
(3)Gabriel S.
This place never fails to satisfy. The food and service is always top notch and it has a great atmosphere. On our last visit, we were waited on quickly and our server Mat was very attentive and helpful. I'm solanine intolerant so I cant have tomatoes or potatoes or peppers and my order included none of these, which is a huge plus because a lot of places will not follow my instructions of none of these products.
(5)Asher J.
Completely shocked at how good it was. The flatbread was unique and delightful, the ahi poke was not amazing (too salty for my taste buds), but good enough, and the elk was really different and incredible. The environment felt like a chill pub, but the meals were fancy creations. Really nice waitress!
(5)BackpackerGirl R.
I went to the depot two nights in a row it was really good. The first time I had the miso maple glazed salmon and the fish tacos the second night both of which were excellent. The menu had something for everyone with lots of great fresh creative ingrediants. I wish they had more local wines by the glass I was surprised to only see one red and one white local wine. Service is good and the location is convenient if you are in Redmond and/or on your way to Smith Rock.
(4)Noelle K.
what a pleasant surprise! We were on our way from portland to bend for a wedding and literally had an AWESOME lunch. Buffalo nachos, pork belly blts, and Greek wraps YUM!
(5)Christopher D.
Great location for a post climb meal. Food was amazing, Buffalo Nachos a must try lap with the flatbread. Me and my girl split the meal and tried six different dishes all of which were amazing. Have to stop and eat here either pre or post climb on your way to smith rock.
(5)Teresa F.
HORRIBLE service! What are they training for ground for under functioning people? Addicts maybe? Geeze. Couldn't get the order right and never checked in us. We had to go to them. Cold fries. Sorry when I pay $11.50 for a burger I expect fresh fries. Not much flavor in the burgers either. I had the Mediterranean burger and my friend had the bacon cheeseburger. So so. Had oh so much better food at other places around Bend area.
(2)RJ F.
My boyfriend and I split the Farm burger and a chicken caesar salad. Both were excellent! Love a place that has quality ingredients. Good fries too. On a busy Saturday night, the service was great. Definitely worth the stop.
(5)Bee K.
The service was fast. The organic greens/gorgonzola/candied pecan salad was insanely good. I asked for, and got, seared ahi on top. Delicious food, great service, and an added plus for an off-menu creation.
(5)Christine D.
We stumbled onto this place after hanging out at Smith Rock State Park. Even though I grew up out this way I rarely dine out because there is always Mom's home cooking which no restaurant can top. So, I have to admit I felt a little guilt because I wasn't eating at Mom's table and was here instead. This is an interesting place, in that, it's an old train depot that has been refurbished into a restaurant. They even have a horse shoe pit outside next to the tracks. We ordered an appetizer as well as two entrees. The sandwiches were huge and came with your choice of chips and salsa or fries. Well, it was most plentiful we could have split the sandwich and had the appetizer there was leftovers to take back with us. Sit on the deck if you get a chance. Lovely view of Smith Rocks and the surrounding countryside. I'll be back again. Shhh! Don't tell Mom!
(5)B B.
Service was slow but otherwise excellent. The food was 4 star, on the expensive side but once it arrived we all enjoyed. Very busy place at times.
(4)Jen g.
I actually give this place 4.5 stars (I had to knock it down from 5 only because the windows are drafty...we moved to another table, but then there was cold air blowing from a vent...it was just a little uncomfortable after being out hiking for the day, I was looking forward to some warmth). We spent the day hiking at nearby Smith Rock State Park. The food and service were amazing. The waitress was such a sweetie and tried to make us more comfortable by finding a different table. She was great. The food selection was great. I want to go back and try everything on the menu. I was surprised to see Elk and Poke on the menu (both had my mouth watering), but I was hankering for a burger, so I opted for the bacon cheese burger and added an egg. It came with Gorgonzola cheese...My mouth is watering again just thinking about it. I asked for it to be as rare as they could make it and it was perfect! Just a little pink on the inside...it definitely satiated my burger craving! This will definitely be a go to place when we are in the area(even if we are just passing through)
(4)Kris B.
Dog friendly! Vegan friendly! Delicious!!!!!! Everyone agreed that we are definitely coming here again on our next Smith Rock trips!!! Wish we had a place like this back home. Pizza, Greek Pita Sandwich, and Stuffed Chicken were great. Even the fries were addictive. Excellent staff!
(5)Eva C.
We love this place!! We celebrated my birthday here while staying at Eagle Crest for a weekend get-away. The server was so sweet and very attentive. We ordered the pork belly lettuce wraps as an appetizer and they were TO DIE FOR!! We all loved them! Everything we ordered was fantastic...from chicken, salmon to buffalo burgers. Oh, can't forget the creme brulee...YUM!!! Just a great evening and delicious food!
(5)Angie K.
Pleasant surprise. After visiting the pumpkin patch with my 2 kids, we were hungry for food ASAP. Thank you yelp, for pointing me to this gem in Terrebonne. Let me just say this place is GREAT. The staff was probably some of the nicest I have had in Bend and they were awesome with my 2 rowdy halloweenies (love the etch-a-sketches). My kids rarely venture from the chicken fingers/fries fare, and that day was no exception, but they devoured it ALL with the magical dipping sauce (super-tasty ranch dressing). I enjoyed the Smoked Turkey and Bacon Sandwich with its yummy dijon mayo and fresh ingredients. The kids were disappointed that NO TRAINS went by while we were eating (situated right next to the tracks with a great outdoor patio), so the restaurant "whipped one up" as we were leaving. The kids thought we were at Disneyland. We will definitely be back and you should go, too!
(4)Anthony W.
We stopped here for lunch on the way to Smith Rock. Despite it's somewhat remote location, they served some amazing food. My South of C O burger was delicious and my wife really enjoyed her fish taco's. It's a must stop if you're in the area!

After a long day of trimming trees and hauling brush at a friend's home down the way, Terrebonne Depot was very nearly the perfect treat. We weighed slapping some steak on the barbecue, but as the day dragged on it became evident that the less work we made for ourselves in the evening the better. Now, grilling steak is hardly "work" but we were fairly exhausted. Terrebonne Depot fit the bill. A former train station, it's got plenty of charm. It's comfortable inside, but if the weather's cooperating, by all means sit on the deck. While we were there, a train with 6 (!) engines ripped by. You'll see/hear/feel it too, as they're scant feet away. Adds to to the ambiance, if you ask me. Our server was quick to ask if we wanted drinks. As of this writing they had Terminal Gravity's IPA on tap, and I can't not get it if it's available. To my delight, they're pouring true 20 ounce Imperial Pints at the Depot. This is, to understate it severely, a great thing. After the TG IPA, I had a Double Mountain Vaporizer Pale, which was lovely. Food: we ordered the calamari appetizer to start, and we split a Tomato Basil and Mozzarella pizza along with an order of the ***rare*** fish tacos. We asked for only 1 of the 3 tacos rare, and the other 2 cooked through. More on that in a second. Calamari: holy COW, these were good. All rings, no tentacles (creepy) perfectly pan fried with a nice spicy zing from the jalapenos. Both the aioli and pepper dips were a nice compliment, but I have to give the nod to the spicy pepper dip. Sweet, zingy and eye opening. Lovely. Buffalo Nachos: We didn't order these, but somehow mistakenly they were delivered to us. We pointed that out, and they whisked them away. Turns out nobody ordered them, so they returned the order to us free of charge. YAY! They were lovely. Homemade chips and salsa, plenty of cheese, sour cream, jalapeno slices and of course ground buffalo. Superior nacho, to be certain. Pizza: not bad. I was approaching full to really get an appreciation for it, though. Nice texture and a good crust. Definitely individual sized. Fish tacos: probably my least favorite part of the meal, but awesome nonetheless. The previously mentioned ordering scenario didn't work out at all. They were all well done. So well done, in fact, that the flavor of the fish was lost. The sublime jalapeno honey lime sauce and fresh corn tortillas nearly made up for it though. It was a wash for me at this point, though, because everything else was so perfect. Our server was a real treat. I missed her name (as I always do), but she was funny, engaging and very knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back! I hope the trees on my friend's property grow like weeds and I'm forced to go back in the very near future.
(5)David C.
What a great surprise! A restored train depot in tiny Terrebonne, OR offering good wine, excellent food and great service. All in our group agreed that the pizza and sandwiches were exceptional. A wonderful dining destination, even if you're not visiting nearby Smith Rock.
(5)Sarah R.
Perfect dinner, wonderful service and cozy temperature. The fries and mashed potatoes are a bit heavy on the garlic, which I love, but it might not be everyone's favorite.
(5)Tryan H.
Started off strong, but a bad finish. Seated quickly by a friendly waitress. What they've done to the building is wonderful. Took our drink and app orders quickly. Quesadilla came within minutes and was yummy. Main course took a really long time even though the place cleared out as we ordered. Finally came and we ordered another round of drinks. 3 meals were good, 1 OK and 2 poor. We didn't see the waitress again until we were done eating and finally got our drinks when we were waiting for the bill. Fish tacos had a ton of cabbage, but very little else. Chicken Caesar wrap was 95% lettuce and croutons and 5% chicken. Fries had sat a while and had way to much garlic salt. Judging by the other reviews it must have been an off night...I'll try again, but no way this could be a 4 or 5 star the night we went.
(3)Megan B.
I couldn't think of a reason to give less than 5 stars. Our food was wonderful (salmon sandwich, fish tacos, fried, side salad) and our drinks were excellent! They were totally accommodating to my hot little dog, service was friendly, place was clean, and prices super reasonable. Going to mark this one for future stops! I wish my town had something half this good!
(5)Charlie L.
After hearing rave reviews by fellow climbers about this place, Lee, Jerry, Carolyn, Obi and I decided to stop in. Although the food was good to excellent (4 to 5 stars), the stand out quality was the service (or lack there of). First of all, we were one of two parties there (the other table had 2 people), and the service is insanely slow and really spotty. I asked what the soup of the day was, the waitress says she'd go check. Ten minutes later I see her behind the counter doing something else, I try to make eye contact, but nothing. Eventually, I got tired of waiting and went to ask the kitchen myself - she was like, "ohhhh my gosh, I totally forgot." Then she screwed up 2 of the 5 orders, eventhough I repeated it for her twice and she seems to be scribbling madly onto her pad. Then she brings the check and it's wrong!! Seriously, she seems very nice, and totally cute, but UTTERLY incompetent. Some folks from our party had experienced this waitress's "service" before (and apparently as did other yelpers)... they thought she was new the last time, but months and months have passed, that's no longer an excuse. This isn't rocket science, honey... I hope natural selection weed your DNA out of the gene pool, but unfortunately, your cuteness will ensure you will procreate. In this kind of job market, the owner of the establishment should be able to hire the most competent waitress around (and if the owner doesn't want to sacrifice the cuteness, I'm sure there's one who is good looking who can do a better job than the one that's there now). As for the food, the chicken curry soup really is to die for if you happen on a day that serves it... and the fries are very very yummy (and I don't even like stake fries), but the shrimp pasta is just ok. Apprently the fish taco is good, as are the gormet burgers. I really really reaLLY REALLY want to like this place more, may be I was just hungry and tired, but the experience was so frustrating I can't bring myself to give it more stars. Since this is the best food around these here parts (an order of magnitude above other options), I'd still go back if others want to go. However, I would not recommend anyone else going there unless you have infinite patience (or until they get a new waitress).
(2)Dave K.
Seriously, having eaten here 3-4 times the Terrebonne Depot never fails to satisfy. Food is always good. the beer and wine is good and prices are good for one of the nicest places near Redmond. Decor is contemporary chic in this cool train depot. Don't miss this great place for lunch or dinner.
(5)earth s.
My favorite central Oregon restaurant. Always crowded with young, hip, hungry, thirsty climbers fresh off a day at Smith. Food is very good. The Moroccan chicken is flavorful and filling. The salads are well matched with the fantastic dressings they are paired with. Try the simple fries with great ranch and honey mustard dipping sauce, sounds simple, but done so well it is memorable. The service is professional and friendly at the same time. Fun, great room with history. You will not be disappointed
(5)Kyle R.
It's easy to assume that the T-Depot is a little rural burger joint. I expected typical greasy, tourist food. Oh' I was wrong. There is a sophistication and the use of very local beef and produce that makes the T-Depot remarkable. While all of the menu is great, the specials are where the food really excels. Loved it.
(4)Michele R.
Maybe it was the "Hippo on Ice" that I sipped while waiting on lunch. The Absolute kurant - cranberry - (lots of) muddled lime cocktail shaken and poured up in a frosty martini glass. (Yes. I did say lunch. But we were celebrating an almost birthday.) Because I have to say our experience here was the server did a stellar job. I start with a comment about service since other reviewers report they've had not such great experiences. Just sayin'...they may want to try again. There was only one waitress covering the entire restaurant at lunch and she did a great job, with our table of four and, it seemed, all of the tables around us. In what was a pretty brisk business for a mid day lunch including a table of four guys obviously having a business discussion, three tables of couples and a family of six inside and two more tables on the deck outdoors. She was efficient and very friendly, knew the menu well and could make recommendations The desserts and bill were a little slow to arrive, but she had her hands more than full so it was easy to draw the "root cause" line to slower service at that point. All around, service five stars. As for the food, lots of interesting things to try on the lunch menu and more on the dinner menu. (For lunch, appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, baked pasta in vegetarian and non format, burgers and etc. For dinner add in things like steak and salmon.) Many of the items come from local suppliers / producers we are told and that always gets "thumbs up" from us. Beef eaters (we are should find the list of creative burgers very interesting. We opted to split (plenty big for two lighter eaters to do that) a pizza with feta, kalamata olives, red onion and teeny grape tomatoes The crust was nice and "toothy" and the toppings delicious and in just the right amount. For artery clogging combo to follow the pizza, we chose the pumpkin creme brulee - nicely "cookie spiced" custard and perfect brulee sugar topping. (Calories evaporate at birthday meals.) And they pour Sisters coffee, so more thumbs up for their great coffee choice. The setting is great too. The spartan building itself is very cool (as you can see at photos posted on this Yelp site and at the restaurant web page) and the views of Monkey Face (rock) outside are wonderful. Left on our own, we'll return on another day soon and sit outdoors next time if the weather cooperates Overall we are at "4 and change" for stars. Only because we tried such a limited selection from the menu. When we go back again, we'll work on trying more menu options. This is nearly 40 minutes drive so it won't be a frequent stop, but if it was neighborhood place, we'd be there often. And it is good enough to be a "destination".
(4)Jeff S.
This restaurant is an oasis of gastronomy in the middle of the Central Oregon desert. The food is great, whether you have a burger or fancier entree, or you just have some amazing fries and a great Oregon beer. The specials are amazing here. Especially the soup. One thing about the high desert is many months out of the year it is down right cold especially at night! The Depot always has an amazing homemade soup special to warm you up. The Depot is a great place to hang out and have a great meal with your friends or family, whether it is special occasion or just another night! Friendly staff great atmosphere!
(5)Ryn S.
Absolutely fantastic in every way. Service was great. Accommodating of food allergies (there were several to navigate). Overall excellent experience. Highly recommended.

What a find! For someone whose last excursion at Smith Rock was years and years a go, I don't venture into Terrebonne much and certainly didn't expect to find a place with such excellent food. Besides, after your hike or rock climb it'll be a guilt free meal. We started off with the pork belly lettuce wraps, hummus plate and calamari. Everything was great but the pork belly was awesome. I'm a big bacon lover and it was huge thick slices of pork belly which was like bacon times ten with a delicious hoison sauce and nuts. I ordered the grilled salmon, and tried a little bit of everyone's meal including the pizza (thin crust, very good), the ribs (fantastic), the special which was a huge New York steak that I didn't get to try but looked heavenly, the salmon was great with a nice smoky wood fired flavor, garlic mashed potatoes were tasty, brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly, my Hippo and Ice was a nice, strong drink served in a martini glass and the brownie we all shared at the end was to die for, served with ice cream and drizzled with chocolate. By far the best meal I've had in months and I've had some pretty darn good meals. I almost forgot the rest as I was getting caught up in re-experiencing my meal. The food is the star but the decor is comfortable, light and airy, minimalist but charming. The service was impeccable as well. I wish I could remember the guy's name but he was fabulous, attentive and great with the kiddos at our table. So come on out to Terrebonne and give it a try on your next hike at Smith Rocks, or just a hike from the car to the entrance, you really don't need an excuse.
(5)Kendra C.
Great place to stop after visiting Smith Rock. Really good burgers, nice atmosphere and plenty of outdoor seating.
(5)Obi W.
Tried a buffalo burger for the first time - it was delicious. Tomato basil soup is good too. Bonus for the kids was the freight train that went by during lunch.
(4)Kenny W.
Love "The Depot!" This place is the best--locally sourced high quality ingredients beautifully prepared at a reasonable price. And most of all, DELICIOUS. Try the fish tacos. So strong.
(5)Viggo B.
I could've easily give this place five stars, but the service was far less than stellar. The server on duty ignored us as we waited for a table. The cook actually came out and seated us after noticing how long we'd been waiting (there were LOTS of tables available). When I asked the server what beers they had on tap, she said she'd bring me a list, which she did......but the drink list said to ask your server which beers they had on tap!! Obviously she didn't actually listen to what I'd asked her and just assumed she knew what I wanted. It also took a very long time for her to come take our orders. The good: very cool old railroad station converted into a stylish restaurant, and killer good food. The fish tacos were superb, the ahi poke was awesome......beer selection was excellent. If you're in the area and want some great food, this is the place to go (just make sure Marta is not on duty.

We just ate at the Terrebonne Depot for the first time the last weekend in July. We hadn't heard anything about it and didn't know too much of what to expect. We walked in and were right away pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. Very warm and pleasant. Great to sit inside or out. It was a nice evening but I wanted to sit inside. We ended up at the bar and were served by Marta. She is awesome and a great personality. She definitely took care of us and was there asking if we were good or needed anything. Not too pushy and wasn't over us. Very nice to finally have a server that gives the proper amount of attention. I saw on here a review from 'Viggo B' and it mentions Marta and I just want to say what a poor review they gave. Completely wrong and if you get Marta as your server you will will have great service. And you know what...people get busy and things happen. You never know what's going on and be patient. You are being served by people that are working hard and doing what they can. If you are so picky then eat at home! The owner of Terrebonne Depot you should know that Marta is a great asset to your business and we definitely will be coming back to enjoy more lunches and dinners and happily bring friends because of Marta! :) Thank you!

Took my in-laws, kids, wife and miscellaneous riff-raff to gawk at Smith Rock and noted the Depot as we went over the tracks exiting town. After posing, gazing and awing at the crags, I herded the whole crowd of 10 back for a late lunch. We decided the place is a central Oregon gem. All were very happy with their food. The nicely restored historic building was a nice bonus. I had fish tacos. Who would think you could get seared ahi in Terrebonne, OR? Good too! The soft corn tortillas were the bland, weak type you get at any gringo supermarket but I suppose that is the best one should expect in the hinterlands. The tacos were loaded with a bit too much purple cabbage but I simply pushed some out to leave on my plate. The sauce and the fish and the fries were just plain good. The ten ordered pretty much everything available on the menu and we were all happy with the results - all agreed the depot was a fine place to stop and eat. I would say it is worth timing your day around a nice lunch here. 4 stars instead of five for service that was a bit slow. Don't get me wrong, I really like the place and we didn't get there until well after the proper time for lunch. As a kid, central and eastern Oregon was home for me - filled with bleak, empty, uncultured places. I am very pleased that I can now take my flatlander in-laws to a very nice lunch in Terrebonne.

Your notice that this wonderful little surprise is closed is WRONG!! It's Dec 21, 2011 and we had a most wonderful lunch. Service was much better than expected from a really out of the way place and the food was definitely 5 star. Try it! You'll like it!!

Staff was so friendly! Drinks tasted so fresh; as the waiter described "it's like salad in a glass" but sweeter! I forget the name but it's with orange vodka and basil. I love finding places like this off the beaten path!

Food is REALLY good. I would recommend the Morrocan Cous Cous with any of the proteins. You can't go wrong.

Very very cool place in little town with few options. Great ambiance. Out of the way - but a great place to stop Fish tacos awesome - with ahi and avacado. Cesar wrap great -- good deserts too. Tortilla soup special very tasty. Very friendly staff. Even induldged the youngsters with off menu - plain pasta.

This place rocks!! I had no idea this place would be so delicious. After leaving smith rock, we wanted something nice and filling. The food was cooked to perfection. We had poki, mussels, salmon salads and fish tacos. The mussels were juicy and the salmon was some of the best I ever had. Good mojito too!

This seems so perfectly placed in the middle of Oregon. It's a century-old former train station renovated into a charming little restaurant with an inviting patio where the waiting area once was (photo: bit.ly/1EIxuGa ). I was having a "Big Chill"-type of weekend in Bend with old friends with whom I don't get to see enough. I guess that would make me the Jeff Goldblum character except Jamie W. was with me and I don't look much like JoBeth Williams. Anyhow, we just finished a leisurely hike at Smith Rock where the hot weather proved to be more challenging than the terrain. We were on our way out of the park when we stopped by for a bite here. Sitting on the side patio, we had a lovely view of the Three Sisters in the distance (photo: bit.ly/1EIxkyv ). Their lunch menu was the typical mix of soups, salads and sandwiches with some interesting appetizers offered like the $11.50 Pork Belly Lettuce Wrap and the $11 Puget Sound Blue Mussels with Sea Salt (photo: bit.ly/1ygUZAx ). The most popular item on the table was the $8.50 Greek Salad which looked particularly fresh and tasty with the $3.75 addition of Chicken (photo: bit.ly/1JGzGz2 ). Me? I ordered the $10 PBLT, which was a hearty sandwich with house-cured pork belly, butter leaf lettuce and tomato housed in a thick ciabatta roll slathered with a mustard seed aioli that had a nice kick. I didn't even bother replacing the obligatory fries with a salad (photo: bit.ly/1yYLd9Q ). Hey, I just finished a hike. So what if it was flat. Stop judging me. FOOD - 4 stars...the pork belly was cured which lent a mildly salty taste to a hearty sandwich AMBIANCE - 4 stars...it is gorgeous in these parts especially out on a patio on a clear day SERVICE - 3.5 stars...pretty friendly TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely the place to grab a bite near Smith Rock...choo, choo!

We heard this was a GREAT place to eat however, we wait 15-20 minutes for our drinks with 3 servers on the floor. Ordered our dinner to wait longer than 30 minutes to get our salads. They have closed and still no salads at this point. It us now 831pm. We probably won't be back as our server has yet to check on us or see if we needed more cocktails. My suggestion is DON'T go here!!!!!!! Bad service had to ask for settings!!!!!! Tip dwindled quick

First time in..smell is simply amazing, so much so I went with a glass of red wine right away!! SO REFRESHING, let me repeat that, SO REFRESHING to see a menue filled with such delightful options, no wonder it smells so awesome in here.. its as comforting as slipping into an all natural hot springs.. The ambiance is open, clean, light color wood, ceiling fans, lots of Windows creating an awareness you are in the High Desert..filters natural light filling the establishment very nicely with out need of artificial light.... Did I mention this place is historic?! Built in 1911.. if you know me, you know I love history, and this place is as pleasing to the eyes as is the smells coming from the kitchen is to the nose.. :p

We waited at the door with the hot sun on us to be seated 10 minutes before they even acknowledged we were standing there. They were not crowded or too busy as there were only 2 tables inside with people and a few outside. Finally after being seated we soon realized it was the same temp inside as outside. Five more minutes passed without even an server coming to offer water so we left.
(2)Allana S.
We arrived and they saw us waiting at the door but didn't seat us for about 10 minutes. Our water took another 10, and then we saw two parties who arrived after us get seated and put in food orders before we walked out (didn't even get a chance to put in our order) went down the street to the next pub and enjoyed being immediately seated, with water, bread and food orders within minutes. Won't be going back to Depot on our next adventure to Smith Rock.

This place is amazing. Great food. Great service. The food is ALL fresh made in house so the wait was worth it. Way better the any of the area restaurants. You get what you pay for and I couldn't be happier. I love the fish tacos and the drinks are too die for. The people who give this place a negative review for length of wait time obviously have never been in the business or do not realize the depth that goes in to making an amazing meal. Great job Depot crew. Bravo!
(5)Mike Y.
My wife and son had a great time at lunch. Unfortunately my wife and I went to dinner mid week and had an 1hr and 15 min wait. With no comp offers. Very very disappointing! They were out of ribs and steak was mediocre.
(2)Rachel M.
The food was very good, the calamari and fish tacos. Although, the calamari was overcooked and the fish tacos lacked flavor. We asked for more salsa, but, of course, she forgot. The service is less than adequate. Our server, Mary, seemed grumpy. She seemed annoyed. She took forever to serve our drinks. Slow and sluggish. She didn't seem happy to be there at all. There was absolutely NO sense of urgency.
(2)Amanda K.
This place is a culinary star in a town that you'd expect simple red meat and potatoes from. A new-American menu is the theme of this place. Even better, this restaurant is situated along the old railroad tracks that run through Terrebonne, so the vibe of this place speaks to a different time and the history of the town. ITEMS WE THROROUGHLY ENJOYED: the baby back ribs (fall off the bone, and crusty goodness around the edges), the calamari, and the house-made margarita with a salt rim. Bottom line: if you're looking for upscale dining in a quiet Central Oregon town, this'll do ya just fine.

We hiked up Smith Rock on a beautiful sunny day in February and we had read this restaurant had great reviews so decided to check it out. We walked in and no one said anything to us. All of us even used the restroom one by one and still we were not greeted??? This is just where the horrible customer service started. Finally one of the servers came up and said the wait is 15 to 20 minutes? We just looked at him and said okay. His response was so you are going to wait? Yes we are going to wait that is why we came in!!!!!! We were seated and it looked like it was busy and they were not doing very well with keeping up with the food so we decided to order the fries as appetizers. After about twenty minutes we got our fries and they were look warm, we were so hungry that we knew If we told them it would take forever to get hot fries. We ordered our lunch and our server told us it was about a 40 minute wait before we get our food. We really did not mind because all four of us were there to have fun and just socialize. One thing that was weird was the whole place smelled of smoke and you could see it as the sun came threw the windows. All three of my friends ordered the Central Oregon Burger which they loved with their tortilla chips and homemade salsa. Except for one burger had no condiment on the bun and the salsa had no flavor what's so ever. I had ordered the Mediterranean Burger with fries. The fries were nice and hot but my burger bun was cold. The feta was so big and chunky it was gross. I did not order the beef patty I ordered the garden patty and it was a potato patty??? I will drive the extra fifteen minutes after my hike to go to a restaurant in Redmond to eat before I go back to this place. They definitely need better customer service, better ventilation system and a better garden burger. I understand many others have reviewed this place with high ratings but it should not matter if it is a busy or slow day the customer service and food should be excellent!
(1)Michael S.
The food was ok, calamari was under cooked. Wait staff was so overwhelmed and the cooks were so backed up we waited 35 minutes between appies and main dish.
(1)Sarah T.
Pretty good food, but a bit spendy for what you get. The pork Belly wraps are really good, but don't come with very much. My biggest complaint about the Depot is the service. There have been multiple occasions where we have had to wait a very long time for food and drink, and the attitudes of the wait staff are less than friendly. Pro: they allow dogs on the patio! :)
(3)Jessica H.
Wow! Delicious. I had the fish tacos which were out of this world! Sushi grade tuna and fresh avocado and some lime and spice with crunchy cabbage and cilantro. My companion had the Mediterranean burger; homemade taziki, with feta cheese. fries were great and had a nice kick. Other companion had a cheese pizza-- coal fired with mozzarella and Parmesan. So yummy. Best place after exploring smith rock or local farms.

Went in August on a Thursday about 1:30 pm. Place was not busy, Inside and out they probably had 6 (including us) tables occupied. Servers were pleasant, Food was good. I had a Hamburger / Fries..... Fries were hot and Hamburger was good. My dining partner had the Fish Tacos, and she said they were good. I bet this place can get busy on a Friday evening and on the weekends! Update: On 8.30.14 we went for dinner about 5pm, and ya know there are problems with this place. 1) The amount of FLIES that bother you as you sit there is almost unbearable!!! 2) The wait staff, although they do their job.... sure don't make you feel very comfortable and appreciated.... and I bet a smile is far and few between. 3) I ordered a Burger which was to be Med. Well, what I got was a BURNT burger.... and I mean BURNT.... how in the world could they serve this! I have told many people about this place..... But they really need to do something about the flies, and it would be nice if you felt welcomed. As far as the Burger.... well things happen, but the chef should of not served it if she/he really cared. Changed my rating from a 4-star to a 2-star (sorry.... However, I would give them a try and post your experiences).
(2)Jen K.
A couple more visits under my belt, and I still experience poor service every time. Really disappointing considering there are some really good things happening at the Depot. On my most recent visit, I enjoyed both the Flat Bread appetizer (fig jam, gruyere cheese, bacon and arugula, drizzled with a balsamic reduction) and Bourbonito (mojito with bourbon). Experience these in the shade of the back deck admiring the view of Smith Rock and life is good. The horseshoe pit out back by the train tracks is a fun, nostalgic touch. But, then things are never that simple... All the basic service matters required a request on our part, never something offered or anticipated by the server. We had to ask for utensils, water refills, the check, etc. For condiments, we just got up from the table to get those ourselves. Our table's order was very basic, burgers and the flat bread, so no reason it should have been such a long wait for our food when the restaurant was only half full. And skip the fries which are blah, for the house made chips and salsa. Still convinced this is the best game in town, just wish a good experience took a little less effort on the customer's part.
(3)Jeff T.
The service here is atrocious. Waiting an hour for your food at 2:00 on a Thursday is pretty unacceptable. Things happen, kitchens get busy, but it was not busy, and the waitstaff didn't seem to care at all. The four star rating is a joke.
(1)Craig F.
Stopped in while in the area. Normally goto the Range at Brasada Ranch bit this got better reviews and we wanted to try something new. The pork shoulder was extremely good and the Miso Maple salmon was fantastic. Sitting on the deck with a view of Smith Rock was very impressive. If you are in the area this is a great casual place to have a great dinner with a great view come try this place.
(5)Glenn M.
Lets see, we arrange in advance to bring a group in, and they are clearly not happy to see us arrive, At one point the waitress says to my partner "you guys are in the way and making it hard to make a living". Wha....? Burgers were charred, Cesar salad looked and tasted like it was covered in mayonnaise. Grim. Its not fun to bring a group of 20 in and have the staff scorn and ignore them. On the way out a local elderly couple, male stone drunk tells me that we were disrupting their peaceful little bar. We were on the deck, sedate after a 12 hour athletic event, I don't think anyone ever spoke above a quiet discussion. Weird, poor, never again.

(1)Matt P.
(3)Teresa F.

(If you know of such a magical place, PLEASE let me know)
(5)Cliff S.
(2)Rebecca W.

Loved it.

(2)Ryn S.
Absolutely fantastic in every way. Service was great. Accommodating of food allergies (there were several to navigate). Overall excellent experience. Highly recommended.
(5)Dave K.

(5)Jeff S.
(5)Michele R.
(4)Anthony W.
We stopped here for lunch on the way to Smith Rock. Despite it's somewhat remote location, they served some amazing food. My South of C O burger was delicious and my wife really enjoyed her fish taco's. It's a must stop if you're in the area!

(5)Lisa M.
Staff was so friendly! Drinks tasted so fresh; as the waiter described "it's like salad in a glass" but sweeter! I forget the name but it's with orange vodka and basil. I love finding places like this off the beaten path!
(5)Big M.
Food is REALLY good. I would recommend the Morrocan Cous Cous with any of the proteins. You can't go wrong.
(4)John C.
(4)Jess B.

(4)Janet H.
(2)Kenny O.
(4)April S.
(1)Melisa E.

(5)Steve C.
