My husband and I had been to Outback before (in Hawaii), and we really enjoyed their happy hour. My husband called to make sure they had one and we went within that time-frame. We asked our server if there was a happy hour, were told NO. If the case was that only the bar area gets happy hour, he should have said something. So.....confused. The drinks weren't the same as what we remembered elsewhere. The margaritas were really hard to drink, and I never have a hard time drinking margaritas! Really salty! blech. The food was the same as what we remembered (yummy), but happy hour would have made them half off!

Solid service. Nothing spectacular and nothing horrible.

Disappointing. I thought I could count on good food at Outback no natter what city.... Until now. Broccoli was barely cooked with no flavor and salad had more onions than lettuce.

I avoid Bush Beef at all costs. If you want me to eat the cow, you make sure it's not fed on a feedlot with contaminated feed that spreads Mad Cow. In Oregon we have Oregon Country Natural Beef, Knee Deep Cattle Company and various smaller local operations that raise and slaughter their cows properly, giving you a Good Beef product instead of another risk of brain rot. Since Outback doesn't see fit to serve Good Beef, they get a total rejection for their beef offerings from me. If you are tired of megacorp beef, eat elsewhere. On the other hand, their chicken and shrimp are outstanding! The Bloomin' Onion will make your taste buds bloom! Anything other than the beef is a Real Treat To Eat! Service? Outstandingly friendly! Hours of operation? They need to open at 11 AM to accomodate the lunch hour crowd. Hey, do you think you rental/lease payments go down when you're open less? LOL! If Outback would pull their heads ouf of their ass and open up to serve the lunch crowd, which is HUGE in Eugene, they would get more of my money and my friends' money. Location? Freeway easy, right off the Belt Line exit on a new piece of road built to serve a new hospital. Parking is decently adequate as well. Price? HIGH but in this case you get what you pay for other than the beef. Top quality ingredients, plenty of food, excellent service and my idea of a great interior, which is dark and subdued, make it worth paying around $50 for two to eat and have anything they want. Now if they would only open for lunch and upgrade the beef quality. The prices being charged are what one should be paying for the best organic beef well-prepared, so let's get with the program Mr. Outback!

Given that the Eugene/Springfield area is not as rich with steakhouses all over, the corporate Outback franchise will simply have to do. All of the Outback regular items are here, the dark decor, solid menu, and pricey items around. Surely, the Aussie cheese fries are a mainstay and a personal favorite and the steaks have been tender, juicy, and delicious during each visit. For the students on a budget, go for the burgers as they are also fantastic.

Service was okay. The servers and host were polite and almost efficient. I had a steak salad and although it looked pretty good, I was disappointed to find that what looked like perfectly cooked sliced steak were actually cold, tough and pretty tasteless. Looks are deceiving. My daughter had the chicken and it was dry. Husband had a steak, and it was actually pretty tasty, so if you're going here stick with the hot steaks and it won't be bad. My biggest problem with the restaurant was the cleanliness. We ordered a bottle of wine and were served two wine glasses. In the dark low lighting, they looked fine, but I had to go ahead and hold my glass up to the light. It was pretty horrific. We waited for the server to come back and get us some clean glasses, but he wasn't showing for awhile, so I started trying to clean it myself with my napkin. (Not easy since my husband had already poured the wine!) It was not only covered with fingerprints inside and out, it had great gobs of gobular gook on it. I finally drank my water and poured my wine in there. Pretty much ruined my nice wine for me. By the time the waiter showed up, he had our dinners and I really didn't want to complain at that point. We were in the corner or we might have been able to get his attention sooner. Needless to say, we won't be back. There's a great steak house just around the corner from Outback in Springfield. Clean glasses.
