It is what it is, a buffet... Good selection of foods, OK salad bar, OK dessert selection. Food was OK. I left full and got my money's worth.

I've been here a few times with family members that think this place is great. I don't, but finally had a decent lunch a few days ago. I won't pay extra for a drink next time; yes, the family will make me go back.

In one word....GROSS. All the food was cold. The "sneeze guard" on the salad bar was filthy, the hot chili was cold, the floor was sticky, the shrimp didn't taste done, there was no cocktail sauce for the shrimp, only BBQ sauce and sweet n sour sauce, the carving station was something left to be desired. Just an all around disappointment.

Hometown has changed dramatically from the last time I was here. Drinks were included back then when I realized that you have to pay separately now for all you can drink it wasn't worth it. I rather have gone to IKEA to get the food cheaper and all you can drink for 1 price. Salad/fruit bar was okay the place was dirty the taste of the dressing didn't taste good either way.

Hometown Buffet is where your Dockers take you when they want to be replaced by a larger cousin with an elastic band. While moderately priced considering the excessive and American amount of food that you can stuff in your trap the food isn't that impressive. Two stars! For the taco bar! Hip, hip, hurray!

Good Dinner Buffet .Lunch was a better deal and better quality! The disappointment was the carving station was terrible. Meat was tough, dry, and poorly served. The staff at lunch much friendly.

The quality of the food is absolutely gross not even worth the price you pay. The wait staff is fantastic I have no issues with them. I just couldn't believe how bad the food tasted

When I entered this home town buffet i was a measly 112 pounds 4 months pregnant I knew I needed to beef it up so I got my grub on at this all you can eat buffet. I was stoked when I noticed I instantly felt heavier each time I stood up to get another plate...unfortunately the food did not stay inside for long and by the end of the night I was back to where I started.

Daily good, not gourmet. It hits the spot if you're in the mood for a wide variety of comfort food.

Very disappointed. Raised the price but didn't raise the quality. Food are tasteless or too salty. Never consider going back there.

I am pretty sure I threw up after I got home. I love stuffing my face with mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese! sucks though you have to pay for a drink now days instead of it being included.

I used to be a fan of the breakfast. But, now, they've separated the drink price AND raised the breakfast buffet price AND reduced the selection. Food is decent, but not 8.25 decent. I can eat better for that amount.

Hometown is a buffet, this isn't the El Dorado in Reno, NV the food here was good, the meatloaf was a little dry nd the steak to well done, but all in all the food was still good. What impressed me was how they have a lot of sugar free desserts for the diabetic's I wish more places did that since there are so many diabetic's out there. I have family that are diabetic. So if you want a quick meal, and don't feel like cooking come here the food is good, the coconut shrimp were addictively good :-)

Pics are much more attractive than the food. Great selections but most of them taste either cold or bad. You get what you pay for, but the buffet in UO is cheaper and much better. Still a good place to feed kids though.

Hometown Buffet, how do I love thee? On the occasions when I've been 1.) on my feet all day 2.) finishing a 4 hour cabrewing trip down the Willamette, high off my ass 3.) nearing the end of a Master Cleanse fast, I dream of the different, authentically American flavor combinations nestled under the solicitous glow of your heat lamps -- Pot roast! Mashed potaters! Fried chicken! -- and ready myself, coupon in hand, for your always-welcome embrace. On top of that, I am endlessly fascinated by HTB's array of drinks. Slurpees (in such exotic flavors as cherry pomegranate!), Orange Juliuses, cappucinos and lattes, and a soft drink machine featuring rare on-tap sodas like Strawberry Fanta and Sprite Zero. In addition, I'm partial to offerings like the orange sherbert, cotton candy, the slightly astringent chicken noodle soup, the sometimes not rancid roasted paprika chicken, and a passable pecan pie. I mentioned BOGO coupons, right? And the fact that HTB will send you *text messages* with weekly deals? Text messages. This is the new millenia. This shit is real. F The Sizzler- we don't pay for our steaks here. To be honest, there are drawbacks to the HTB dining experience: On more than several occasions, I've had to elbow little kids out of the way to get to the cotton candy and eat under the bovine gaze of senior citizens and backwoods Oregonians who wear overalls with no undershirts, hang signs that read "BEER" from the rafters of their front porch, and fail to realize (until they're sitting fork to fork with me) that people of different ethnicities actually exist outside of their televisions. I swear I've had staring contests with these people and they will not be outdone. This is a contest they will win. Still, there is nothing like the unmitigated joy of hanging out with new friends, finding out that they've never been to Hometown Buffet (seriously, what the F), and dragging their asses over to the Gateway Mall, where they are force fed until their eyes glaze over, and their mouths are covered with a film of stearic acid. Bottom Line: What do Asians and senior citizens have in common? Hometown Buffet. $6 (and $4.99 on weekend mornings- with a coupon!) for 10,000 calories in a sitting = the thrifty American dream. My parents didn't cross the Pacific Ocean for nothing.

I always enjoy going to HTB, I always make a "mashed potatoe bowl" . The stuffing is my favorite However last time I was there ( we go about 3 times a month ) we had to bus our own dishes even though the waitress continuously walked past. It's not always like that, so I can accept one bad service night ;)

This is a tough place to review. Plenty of food and lots of choices, you can surely eat your 12$ worth of food. Is it good? Well, its a pretty low quality buffet. Alot of their hot food options are warmish and over salted to make up for the low quality and taste. They have a pretty decent dessert bar and salad bar and usually the carved meat of the night is decent enough. You can also save a bundle by signing up for their club emails (kids eat free, dollars off, etc...) The fact that you have to buy an extremely overpriced drink ($2.50) on top of the entrance fee to the buffet is ridiculous, though I tend to only drink water, so I like that they don't charge it in the entrance price. This town doesn't have any great all you can eat options, so with that in mind, this place does lead the pack of mediocrity. The place is generally clean and, while crowded at times, I never feel rushed to leave. If they lowered their prices a tad or upped the quality a tad this review would be 4 stars.

For a buffet, its pretty good. Some things they always do right, some things we've learned to steer clear of, but we don't hesitate to come back. And Thursday is super kids night! 99 cents for children to eat and there's cotton candy and balloons!

All the food you want for $9. No place for Vegans or snobs. Lots of fresh foods to choose from, especially the extensive variety of salads and fruits. Great for kids because the pizza, taco's, spaghetti is always on one of the many food islands. Carving stations offer ham, prime rib, roast beef, etc served by employees. It's a buffet - don't expect something that doesn't go with that venue. You'll get a full tummy and have some apple crisp with ice cream and walk down the mall a short ways to the movie, too! It's not the Harrah's swanky offerings with mood lighting and split shrimp appetizer bowls. It's just good American food like you find in most homes. That is the point. Addendum; my daughter wanted me to come back and mention the self-serve beverage bar has Icee's and the desert bar has sherbet and icecream.

WARNING:THIS REVIEW WILL BE SCATHING: I affectionately refer to this dumpster dive as "Hometown YUCK" Hands down, this was the WORST buffet I have encountered in my existence on this planet. Where shall I start.... 1.Simply seeing some of the obese patrons, greasy hair, and ass-crack showing helped to reduce my appetite before serving myself. 2.The guy who was carving the meat was dirty, filthy, and had dirty clothes on. 3.How can a restaurant fuck up mashed potatoes!?!?!? Thats easy...because they arent REAL MASHED POTATOES!!! 4.The fish was drier than my mouth during a bad hangover. 5.Seeing people re-use their glasses to refill their drinks is enough to make any food-borne illness conscious individual want to hurl. 6.I would have thought since it was a busy night, food would be fresh and replenished often. Many times, steam tables were empty. 7.Loud,dirty, and even worse because there were mothers, shoveling this crap into their screaming kids mouths. All in all, this place is horrifying.Stay away...stay far away.....the price/quality ratio is waaaaaaayyyyyy off base. The next time im in the mood for a buffet, ill head to the dumpster behind Albertson's...at least it will be free, and I know the food will be fresh. Porcelain Queen Please............

My second "First" review from my first day of traveling in Oregon! Oregon folk don't seem to like to Yelp a lot (or at all). Anywho. This place is fab! Unlimited Hi-C Fruit Punch! I love eating at Hometowns, and I love love eating at Hometowns with Hi-C Fruit Punch!!!! Whoo! I think Hometown headquarters should seriously start looking into Hi-C Orange! MMMM Yummy!

One reason I give this place a better then average review is the variety of foods available. My kids are picky and what appeals to them one day, is not what they will eat the next. Pizza, jello, fries, chicken nuggets, ice cream, chocolate cake.....we do find something they will like. The fish I had was good, the chicken was like I like it, great salads and a host of other foods, plus the kids eating nicely makes going out almost relaxing! The staff was very nice and would quickly pick up the empty plates. The thing is, or the price and variety, it really is hard to beat.
