I got to take my lovely wife out for breakfast. We just moved to Sandy so I didn't know where to go... there's always a fair amount of people in the parking lot here so we figured we would be fine... We were much better than fine. We had two different omelets that were very flavorful and lovely. My wife had pancakes and said they were very tasty. We will be back.

Review for the bakery - special occasion cake: My mom ordered my baby shower cake from Tollgate Bakery and it was SERIOUSLY AMAZING. The carrot cake was sooo unbelievably good. And she did a fantastic job on the decorations; it was adorable and exactly what we wanted (my mom showed her a picture from pinterest). And the price was really good - much less than what we were quoted by various bakeries in Portland and Gresham. We will be coming here for now on for any special occasion cakes!
(5)Judy H.
Every meal we have had here has been so very good! So if you love eating your mom's food but no longer live at home then come here and enjoy!! Jaime was our server and she was very nice and made sure she was available any time we might need something!!! Perfect!
(5)Melissa M.
Chicken pot pie was huge, and amazing. Prime rib cooked to order!!! Cocktails in this cozy bar are decent, and the antique atmosphere is charming. Staff friendly and welcoming, and prompt service.
(5)Mya L.
Good food, good drinks and great service! I have always enjoyed coming here. No matter the time of day I know it is worth it.

I have been having breakfast here every Saturday with some buddies for several years. Sometimes as many as 10-12. We usually have Debbie as our server and she is prepared for our arrival by having carafes with hot coffee. Debbie does her best with what she has to work with. The coffee is usually fairly weak. Nothing spectacular about the food as it is typical Sysco stuff. What really irks me is the nearsightedness of the management. My typical order is the lite eggs/bacon/hashbrowns/toast and coffee. For some time Debbie has allowed me to exchange the 2 pieces of toast for about a 1/2 cup of gravy. She told me this past weekend, management will no longer allow her to do so and have to charge me $1.99 for the 1/2 cup of gravy. No way you will convince me the gravy is more cost than the 2 slices of bread. And pissing off a long time customer is worth the small change and the cost of this review. Yes, I will still have breakfast there every Saturday with my buddies as there is not really anywhere else in Sandy. But I will now be a happy customer.

If you want to experience better cooking than your country Grandmother fixes, then this is the place, the only place. You know how you hate meatloaf, try theirs!
(5)Lonnie L.
Well, the waitress was pleasant. So, honestly, im going to try to be fair here. First, the beef and vegetables soup- the broth is ok, salty, but the veggies are canned and you can tell. The cobb salad was so-so. My daughter had the shrimp alfredo and the shrimp were salad size shrimp. For $15 you would think they'd throw medium shrimp in there. We were never given water- had to ask for it and they dollop their cosmopolitan drinks with an extreme amount of. . .whip cream? Im new to the sandy area and for $45 i could have had steak and crab in the city. Not to be harsh but, it'll take alot for me to come again.
(2)Shannon B.
This used to be one of my favorite family breakfast places. Today was horrible and we decided not worth the drive out anymore. Service issues: Hostess too busy flirting to seat us No cream brought to the table- made worse because when I got up to get it and she came back the next time she said "Oh, you got your cream" but didn't have any with her. Long wait for acknowledgment and orders to be taken. Food issues: Hollandaise Sauce was bland. French Toast was only dipped in batter, not soaked and had a funny taste to it.

I was told about the great Chicken Fried steak breakfast they serve there.Talk about a let down. The steak was a greasy mess,as one other reviewer put it Slop. There was pools of grease on top of the gravy, too the point my wife, or I could not finish it.We ended up bringing it home after putting out over $20 for breakfast.I think the best thing on the plate was the toast, the bread came from the bakery next door, and the coffee was good.My wife and I eat out regularly,if we find a place we like we easily become regulars.I emailed the restaurant a few days after the incident, and said if they wanted to make things right please contact me,before i put this review online,I have not heard anything from them yet and it has been over a week.I guess they do not care about their customer experiences in their restaurant

Stopped here for lunch en route to the coast. Convenient location. Average meal. The bbq pork ribs were on the sweet side, ie no smokiness. Tasted more like a bbq stew or something. Chicken fried steak was good in an average way. Mashed potatoes were excellent. Overall not bad, but not good enough to be a future destination.

AMAZING! My regret in this case is that I live in Beaverton.... I had to come out this way for work today and stumbled into this little gem! I'm glad I did.... Had the steak sandwich w/ mushrooms & peppers & fries. At first I thought "$15.99 for lunch?!" But not only would I gladly pay that I'm thinking I'd make the 1 hour drive here from Beaverton to get it. Nice open seating, clean, friendly service (thanks Debby :))

BIGGEST BREAKFAST IN PACIFIC NW! Not only is the breakfast here awesome but the portions are bigger than a Goodyear Blimp. We ate breakfast here after the Thanksgiving holidays and this place outperformed my expectations. The old rustic ramshackle building looks like a set from a John Wayne movie. The place was crowded when we arrived but the waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast menu is vast and contains everything from eggs and German sausage to Cinnamon French Toast to Mexican 6 egg omelets. The coffee and orange are excellent. We ordered the California Eggs Benedict, a vegetarian option that replaces the Canadian bacon with Acacado and sour cream. The plate was massive and could have fed 4 people. We also ordered the Mexican Taco 6 egg omelette, a monster plate with seasoned taco meat embedded in the eggs, with salsa, sou cream, hash browns, and toast. The plate was bigger than Paul Bunyans beer belly. It was incredible and tasted superb. This isn't the place to eat some high end Bolivian-Japanese fusion brunch. Its down home food served in massive portions and very well prepared. RECOMMENDED FOR BREAKFAST!

You're in Sandy, Oregon and you're hungry. Options are limited.....DQ, Taco Time, weird Chinese, or Sandwiches. If you want a sandwich....you might as well get the best available and that's at the Tollgate. There is a restaurant and a deli that allows you to purchase lunches to go and the bakery goods. Reasons to get your lunch here: -They make their own bread -The soup of the day is excellent -Bakery goodies here are amazing!!!! -The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. The deli also has expresso and teas available. I go here because I have to go here for work regularly. But if you are looking for a great lunch to take up to the mountain or need to nosh on the way down this place is perfect.
(4)Kelly S.
I've eaten here a few times before in the main restaurant which is Americana diner at its finest complete with old time candy available at the hostess desk. No updates to this place in recent history. Great place to stop on the way up or back from the mountain. Food is comfort food and tasty. I am known to get their chicken fried steak with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. Yummy and decadent in this day and age of clean eating! This visit we sat in the bar hoping to watch the Blazer game. It was hopping on a Friday night but we got excellent service in a comfy booth. I got the Lite Chicken Fried Steak (a smaller portion). Good but not as great as I remembered it. Good fresh steamed broccoli and real mashed potatoes and your choice between three gravies. Hubby got the special Prime Rib, the small serving, which was huge enough for leftovers. A little video slots with the locals and our evening was complete!
(3)Ryan B.
Great family restaurant. The patty melt was underwhelming, but my side of t-tots was memorably massive!
(4)See Y.
Great trip back to the Olden Days with a gift shop with candy I remember as a kid. Steak dinner was fantastic and service was fast! This place has been around for decades and will be here for a lot more!
(4)Stephen D.
After the last review the owner sent me gift certificates to cover our meals and come back. This time we had the French dip with tater tots which was fantastic. we also had the rib eye also great. Highly recomend the cheesy garlic bread appetizer again. Definitely visit again when go to Mt Hood.
(4)Reta H.
We had breakfast for four today. The plates of eggs and bacon also come with three large pancakes if you want. The pancakes were very good. It was so much food I couldn't eat the rest of the day. The service was good, consistent. Even though it was further back to ski at Mt. Hood, it was worth it.
(4)Adam L.
Out of 4 of us none of us enjoyed our food very greasy , dry or just not good . The service was excellent . I would not recommend .
(3)Billy A.
We had breakfast here. It was very crowd but the staff got us seated fact. I had the biscuits and gravy. It was the best I ever had. My friend had the ham and eggs. It look great he said it was also very tasty. I'm glad they are in Sandy Or. Or I would be there every day.
(5)Gary L.
Good food , nice place, clean , reasonable prices , good service.... nice placeto stop on the way to mount hood
(4)Alison M.
A great place to eat on your way up to or back down the mountain. Large portions of comfort food are served to all kinds of diners. I had the Eggs Benedict on the way up to a wedding at Timberline, nothing super memorable, but it gets the job done. There is a great general store next store.
(4)Erin J.
Came here with the family, and left wanting to adopt our server Diane to be my own grandma. She is super sweet, so adorable, and knew everything about the menu down to a T. Everything was delicious, the fried chicken special I ordered was good but could use more seasoning! Onion rings, cobb salad, western burger, chili burger & filet mug on were all fantastic. My mom loves this place, now I remember why. If an employee sees this, please show Diane, she's such a doll. Seriously.
(5)Norma B.
Food was great. I had the prime rib and it was so tender you could of cut it with a fork snd oh gosh uou ciuld make a meal out of there homemade rolls. My hubby had chicken pot pie made from scratch and he really enjoyed that. We are both taking leftovers home
(5)John M.
Horrible. We had prime rib. It was incredibly dry and bland. The green beans came out of a can. Waitress was not attentive and never once asked how everything was.
(1)Tom F.
Fun place to eat, food is good, prices reasonable, cowboy atmosphere. American style food, one of the better places to eat in Sandy, stop on yur way through.
(4)David B.
Good food, good service nothing too special very consistent quality. The chicken strips are HUGE. They are our favorite.. Lots of antiques, shadow boxes and old things to look at.
(4)Cobalt Z.
Who the h*ll orders six-egg omelets? Seriously. We had to eat from the seniors' menu to keep from getting a major farm delivered to our table for breakfast. Great service, fast breakfast at this diner-style restaurant got good marks for breakfast (although our orders were slightly mangled). Easy in, easy out.

After a trip to Kah-Nee-Ta Resort, we decided to stop for dinner. The Tollgate Inn looked inviting from the road, so we made the decision to stop. The restaurant was pretty kitschy...lots of knick knacks to gaze upon. I hadn't had chicken potpie in forever, so this was my choice. Boy was it really delicious! Either that, or I was starving! I especially loved the crust...so flaky. And the chicken filling was creamy...mmm...I could really go for that right now! The portion was huge, so I brought home enough for dinner the following evening! I was pretty disappointed with the accompanying salad. Looked like something that came out of a bag. The service was quick and friendly. The food was good. If I lived nearby, I'm sure I would return!

This review is specifically for the Bakery/Gift Shop, Not the restaurant. My parents moved from Seattle, WA to Bend, OR last year. The Bakery at the Tollgate Inn is a stop we HAVE to make on every trip to and from home for a mid-drive pastry and coffee pick-me-up. We have enjoyed the soup and sandwiched offered at the bakery as well, when pastries wouldn't quell our appetites. My cousin raves about the cannoli (and rarely shares!) My mom and husband bonded over their mutual love for the mini German Chocolate Cakes. I order a different muffin every time. If you stop by in summer, enjoy one with seasonal fruit- like raspberries. The connected gift shop is very cute and kitschy. Whoever does the ordering for them is quite creative, their merchandise and displays are always changing with the season/holiday. The Tollgate Inn Bakery is a pleasure to patronize.
(5)Maria C.
Just had lunch there, was great. I had the charbroiled Chk sandwich. It was really flavorful and tastey. The roll it was serverd on was made at the bakery next door Delish! Server was on point and friendly. My Pop had the veggie beef soup and you could tell that was homemade as well lots of big chunks of beef. Mum had the Chk pot pie, and I repeat homemade, and huge. The bakery next door has a quaint gift shop with lots of lovely sweets. Wish I lived closer, I'd come couple times a week! Cheers!
(5)Rick F.
Not the best experience. Long wait for cold eggs and pancakes. Waited nearly an hour.
(1)Mark W.
Nice enough people but at times seems like they don't know what they are doing. Food reminded me of a Denny's and there is a reason I don't eat there either. It's cheap and you get big portions so probably that's why some people like it.
(2)Holly K.
I can safely say for years and years this was a favorite place we'd go when heading back to the mountain after being in town. They used to have the best roasted chicken I have ever eaten. Then then we started seeing changes inside with the decor and on the menu. We inquired about some of the changes and the girl told us the grandfather had died and he had wanted to keep it exactly the same way and now they were free to make changes. For the most part, they should have left it alone. The booths used to be private enough with dividers, so you weren't in on everybody's conversation. There was a time I was asking the waitress about the calamari and the table behind us, got involved in my order. A more recent trip yielded us senior citizens on a road trip, getting drunk at 11 am, hooping it up like they were clubbing on a Saturday night. How do I know they were on a road trip? There are no dividers cushioning the noise levels here, and I knew way more than I ever wanted to about that trip. They drowned out the conversation at my own table. The waitress attitude here is varying. On our last trip the waitress was cold and acted like she'd rather put the pencil through her eye than take another order. She never came back to check for refills either. The prices have gone up and portions shrank. I had ordered a Turkey sandwich and fries with a salad. The salad was basically iceberg and an onion ringlet and the fries were very skimpy. We no longer go in here for dinners or lunches, but have gone over to the bakery for pastries. That is the only place I feel safe to go in and not catch attitude.
(3)A C.
I have eaten take-out from Tollgate Inn twice now. Their salads are pretty lame/tasteless, but their sandwiches and potato salad make up for it. The turkey sandwich is delicious, and the portions are very generous.
(4)Jan A.
halibut fish fillets and baked potato, meh. I got the 'lite' (2 pieces) and had zero desire to finish it. fish was dry, breading looked good but was soggy on the underside. baked potato, ok. small, kinda odd russet on the outside, yukon gold on the inside? idk, not my preference. dinner salad with italian was good, not fancy at all, but decent greens, sysco decent enough dressing and croutons. I actually liked the italian dressing. kids' cheeseburger, bleech! over dried, over toasted bun. tasteless meat. teriyaki chicken entree with mashed potatoes. ok. mashed potatoes a bit thick but edible, better than the baked.....possibly. dry chicken, good for the first few bites, better than the deep fried halibut. turkey supreme sandwich: super crusty bacon. ok but not fresh looking, at all. french fries, very decent : ore-ida-ish crinkle cut. listen, you can eat it but it's not that good. it's edible, it's easy, it's kind of the only game in town. they have their 'schtick' down. if you gotta eat, this will do.
(2)Katie G.
Good ol American breakfast.
(3)Erin L.
One of my favorite things about the Tollgate is that when you walk in you know it is a friendly atmosphere. My favorite things to order here are the french toast and the omelets. Both are good sized portions and are yummy. They also serve a eggs benedict that satisfies the appetite. If you have some spare time, stop into the little giftshop/bakery that is next to the restaurant. They sell old school candy, make delicious pastries and desserts and their sandwiches are good too. If you are ever in the Sandy area, it is worth it to make a stop at the Tollgate. This is definitely one of my favorite breakfast places.
(4)Ange S.
This place is fantastic! I had the meatloaf and it tastes just like mamas! HUGE plate of food for only 10 bucks. Wonderful fast and friendly service. Highly recommend!!
(5)Keorb Z.
Food - I haven't had anything bad from here. Their clam chowder on Fridays is AMAZING!! Their soups are great! Burgers - love, Tots - yum!! Drinks - +++! Atmosphere - I enjoy the antique decor Wait staff - I have always found them extremely attentive and helpful
(4)Scott B.
Catch-all restaurant... Anything special? Not really. For the most part the service has been good, though the coffee shop in their bakery is too slow for those in a hurry. Food is good, not saying the food is great and amazing and OMG YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS! But it "good" food.
(3)Duane K.
Have been here many times the last 5 years but not again. The service was good but the food was bot I had the cuban new addition to the menu description sounded good. But they used sliced pork when menu said pulled.it was not wortg money .also girlfriend s fries were served cold. When we mentioned it the wait staff just walked off and then it took forever to get our bill ........
(1)Ian J.
Went for a burger today, wife had the Reuben. She said hers was good, mine was fine.
(4)Denea Y.
Expected to make a quick pit stop for coffee and ended up enraptured by their beautiful, huge, golden pastries, all priced affordably. They also had lots of cute gifts, unique candies, a to-go fresh snacks fridge area, and a sit-down cafe. Not crazy about Bridgetown coffee (and they make their espresso drinks super sweet, even more than Dutch Bros. if that's possible), but it's worth the trip alone for the baked goods. Ordered a cinnamon twist, red velvet cookie and PB swirl cookie: all phenomenal.

This review is specifically for 2 Mike's Saloon, part of the whole Tollgate Inn complex. When I peeked in the restaurant it was all old people and crying babies and just not my scene, but the saloon is really cool. It's dark (not in a shady way), with lots of wood and a handful of booths, clean, and decorated with sweet, old school sports memorabilia. There are some impressive flat screen TVs in there as well. The people all seemed friendly and it was pretty quiet and relaxed even though there were quite a few patrons in there. My favorite part of 2 Mikes (both times I went) was the grub. I LOVE that they use fresh baked bread from Tollgate's bakery with all the burgers and sandwiches. It definitely bumps up the quality of the food in a big way. I got a cheese burger and there was nothing about it I didn't like. The onion rings are BOMB. They have a full bar and some tasty cocktails too! If you're ever on a road trip and passing through Sandy / Gresham skip out on the fast food and hold out for 2 Mike's. It's worth it.
(4)Stephanie J.
The Tollgate is a slop-house. I'm sorry it sounds harsh, but if you have a palate at all, and you give a crap about your health and the quality of your food, I do not recommend this restaurant. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, including the salads is slop. The salads are sodden heaps of flavourless of pre-cut and packaged (and weird funky smelling) iceberg languishing under a heap of whatever you ordered on top of it, either greasy chicken, or slices of cheap flavourless cheese, rubbery boiled eggs, cheap sliced ham or whatever other Sysco products they can throw on there and charge ten bucks for. They have chicken-fried everything, just dripping with grease, heaped with gravies that should come with a side of angioplasty. Their steaks are sub-par, and they don't season anything decently at all. Breakfast is a grease-fest leaving you the rest of the day with heartburn comparable to drinking a quart of battery acid. The sandwiches are often clad in a 'ciabatta' bread which I prefer to call Rubber bread... you can't bite into it without the rest of your sloppy sandwich squelching out of the back of the sandwich. Seeing that this restaurant is attached to a bakery, you'd think they might do better than the awful buns and bread they serve. The interior is dated and kitchy, kind of smelly too, like the rug is dirty or something. It's noisy, there are always people there with kids running amok and screaming at the top of hteir lungs and the parents don't care. The fact that the restaurant has lottery machines in it should be clue enough that they don't care about the quality of the food, and it's pretty telling. Still, they get loads of costumers to fill their booths... mostly the kind who think gravy is a beverage, so you get the idea. So yeah, if you like food, and I mean actual fresh, quality food, this is not the place for you. It's gross.

We stopped for gas and asked for a recommendation for breakfast and the young man at the gas station suggested the Tollgate Inn. What an excellent suggestion. They make their own corn beef hash and their own bread. The standard number of eggs is 3 (not 2 like most places) and their omelettes are an outrageous 6 eggs! I love homemade corn beef hash, so I had this and the 3 eggs. Over easy on the eggs and crispy on the hash and it came exactly as ordered. It was one of the best (if not the best) hashes I have had in a restaurant. My wife had the sausage patty and eggs (yes they hand make the sausage patties, not frozen pre-made). I don't know if they put together their own mix for the sausage or if they have a local shop make it, but it's better than anything we've tasted back east. The people here are great, the service excellent. If I have to fault one thing is, they need a better coffee...but I'll live :-) If you're going through Sandy on the way to Mt Hood, you must stop here for breakfast. You will not be disappointed!
(5)Christine O.
Got cozy in front of the fireplace and ate a delicious bowl of vegetable beef soup. The service was great and atmosphere makes me certain I'll return.
(4)Dave D.
Good filling food. The waitress forgot my salad but that ended being a good thing since my burger was huge. The homemade buns were a nice touch to the burger as well. The menu had a large variety and everyone in my group was happy with their order. For being so close to the ski slopes the prices were pretty low. I did have one problem that irked me. The beer on tap was extremely limited. 3 taps with bud, coors light and widmer hef. For a bar in oregon this is unheard of. I'm surprised they are allowed to keep their liqour license with such a crummy tap selection. It boggles my mind that any bar owner wouldn't want at least 5 or 6 taps of local brew. My burger(and review) would have been much better if I was able to get a nice dark pint to wash that burger down. 3 stars.
(3)Cathy R.
After tubbing up at Skibowl, we were looking for a locals place to eat. Found Tollgate, not to far, and I have to say, we were not disappointed! The service was great, Sue our waitress, was such a delight! The food was very good especially the chicken fried steak. I opted for the smaller portion, which is nice to have on the menu, and it was plenty. The homemade mashed potatoes were perfect with the sausage gravy. Nice they offer gravy choices..... We did go into the bakery and the girls were just as nice as Sue from the restaurant. I purchased a raspberry scone, one of the best I have ever eaten. A definite revisit!
(5)Mal C.
Well, I asked a gas station worker where the best restaurants in Sandy were, and we were directed to the Tollgate Inn. The spot is super cute, there was nice outdoor seating, and the service was attentive and friendly. My problems were with the food... firstly, my cut of steak was fatty and not in the good marbled way. I love meat and love to keep the natural char-grilled flavor, but I ended up having to smother this steak with A1 Steak Sauce to finish it. And the rest of the food wasn't fresh - it was all frozen or pre-packaged food. Restaurants in Oregon have no excuse for not using fresh vegetables! The bread rolls were good though. The portions were good - so it fills you up, it's just not very quality food...
(2)Rondi V.
Good comfort food, generous portions & friendly staff. If you have room for dessert, try their Settler's Cake, it's yummy! If not, go next door to their Mercantile & pick up something sweet for later! Our family has enjoyed coming here for ages!
(3)Nicole B.
We just stopped in passing through to Timberline Lodge. We had a wonderful lunch. A great server, Jenny. The chicken fried steak was great! The sausage gravy was delicious. The rolls were homemade as we're the dressings. We left being so happy and wanting to come back. So we decided to drop by the bakery. Pick up a few things possibly.... Wow. The people in the bakery were SO rude. It ruined our experience. Now, if you go do try the restaurant. The restaurant was great. The experience was wonderful but if you don't want to ruin your nice day. Avoid the mean lady in the bakery.
(3)Tonee W.
The CHICKEN FRIED STEAK is the best I've ever had - generous portions and oh so good!! There wasn't anything on the menu that I wouldn't like to try ~ chicken pot pie next I think. The staff was friendly & attentive without being a bother ~ the perfect mix. Food was to us in a reasonable amount of time, they have gifts too ... jams & jellies to take home. This is a memorable place to eat ... I will go back, hopefully sooner than later.
(5)Rena O.
Look up for a surprise! The place is filled with lots of knick knacks. I had the reuban which was good. Excellent potato salad. My husband had the chicken soup that was tasty. A friend had the burger that was large and tasty. Chili was good also.
(4)Skip C.
Great breakfast. Top notch gravy on the chicken fried steak. Portions were huge. Great place to eat. The kids loved it and the atmosphere was comfortable.
(4)Nichole M.
The breakfast is huge and the burgers are so good! Love it here. Nice and comfy place to eat.
(4)Sean D.
This review is for road-breakfast acquired from the store part. There was a lovely collection of vintage sodas, decent coffee and AMAZING cannoli. Just amazing. I used to live 5 minutes from Boston's North End (25 places to get a cannolo on two streets) and I've never enjoyed one this much. Traditionalists be warned: they use more marscapone, less ricotta.
(4)Calvin N. H.
Forget the restaurant- it's fair. BUT GO TO THE BAKERY!!! Try the red velvet cookies, you won't be sorry.
(4)Mike C.
Great place to stop after spending time at Mt Hood. Big portions of comfort food. The tater tots are awesome! Getting seated was very slow for no reason except the hostesses enjoyed chatting with each other, and the server was a bit mechanical, but overall good meal.
(4)Matt C.
I've been here twice now. I stopped here with a friend last year. We were on our way to Redmond, hungry and didn't know where to stop for a bite to eat before we headed out of civilization to no-restaurant land. We spotted this place and decided to give it a try. We weren't dissapointed. The food was very good homestyle cooking and the prices were very reasonable. Any item on the menu could be two meals (which they will happily split for you). Some could be three meals. They serve you hot, homemade rolls before the meal. Loved those! The waitress and server were very nice and constantly checked up on us. It almost became a joke to us how often we were asked if we needed anything. The food was good. I had a club sandwich which came with a huge order of fries. They had several other options for sides including a dinner salad. I wanted the fries though. Well, my sister's car broke down the other day out near zigzag and I had to go get her along with her three kids. They were really hungry and wanted to stop at a Red Robin. I remembered this place though and had to try it again. We weren't disappointed. Excellent service again, even with three kids that had energy to burn. The service was perfect and everyone enjoyed thier meal. We took quite a bit of food home with us too. Good food, great prices and excellent service with a smile. What more can you ask for? The bakery! ...for another time.
(5)Jackie C.
Had to go out to Sandy this week to drop some stuff off. We were thinking about stopping at the Tollgate, and when I asked a local he recommend it. Great for a burger. Fast service, friendly staff and good food.
(4)Rosy D.
Not a huge beer selection, but cool spot inside and out, clean and freindly people and staff. I'd go back
(3)Charlie Z.
Good food, pretty standard menu nothing out of place. Just what we expected. Friendly service and decent food. We love the fire place and the atmosphere.
(4)Rusti T.
Nothing better than good ole comfort food....
(3)Jodi H.
My family has been eating here for years on a regular basis. The service is always a little slow, but the food has always been wonderful. Last week went for breakfast. Bacon cheese omelet was horrible. So dry. Had to wash it down with water. Tonight ate there again with family. Food was poor along with service. Felt sick afterwards. Done eating here. So sad. Cool place to go.
(1)Jennifer D.
Bakery is worth a stop. The restaurant on the other hand it terrible. It smells like dirty dishwater. The food is bland, over cooked and gross... Save your money for something that resembles food.
(2)Jessica w.
I came here with my boyfriend and his parents for a mothers day breakfast, it is her favorite restaurant and I was excited. I ordered the eggs benedict and it was terrible. Just truly awful. The hollandaise sauce seemed like it was a blend of mayonnaise and butter, absolutely disgusting and not hollandaise sauce at all. While the others enjoyed their french toast and omelets, I was stuck with this hideous mess. It kind of ruined my first meeting with my boyfriends parents.

The best best best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. I lived in Gladstone for 21 years and had never been to this place on the way to the mountain. It was a cute little restaurant with a cute little gift shop. Service was a tad slow but the people working were very kind and upbeat!

good "comfort" food, large portions, reasonable prices. Salads are fresh (we split a fresh dungeness crab salad 2 days ago)

Maybe stick with a burger? Had a $12 salad that was mostly iceberg lettuce. Service was slow and it took forever to be acknowledged for seating. Prices were a little high for average food. Not a place I would come back to.

Not fine dining, but generally good homestyle food. Portions are huge. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was tasty. Vegetables were not overcooked, but they were watery.

Good food and drink. This is a comfortable place to take clients. The food will not disappoint you. Mostly comfort food and the bakery is exceptional. This is a great place to pick up baked goods for special events or housewarming gifts during the holidays. Sandy is lucky to have this place.

So, YES, the bakery at the Tollgate Inn has won me over! The pastries are fresh and tasty....love the cinnamon rolls! My teen was amused at the unique retro toys in the gift shop....and it takes a lot to amuse a teen! The only negative we've found so far (we've been twice for the bakery and twice for lunch in the restarant) was the sliced beef on the sandwiches wasn't very tender and was too salty. This was on two seperate occasions, so I guess it's just the way they make 'em :( I would still go back to try other menu items and I've heard from neighbors that breakfast time smells yummy - like maple and sausage throughout :)

Went there last night and the food was delish and the service was quick!

Fabulous place! Last time at the restaurant had the Pot Roast, this time had the Chicken Pot Pie. All I can say is YUMMY! Tater-tots still cooked to perfection! Also stopped off at the bakery and still happy with the pastries and the wide selection.

They make the best breakfast in Sandy, hands down.

Looks like a fun place to eat and ends about there. Had the cheeseburger and fries and was not impressed (beef quality). Shirley temples were delicious, service was sub par. Pass on this place

This is more about the bakery than the restaraunt: I love Tollgate's Bakery, I have been going there for years, and I highly reccomend getting bakery items there, what I would tell you is to NOT get there is a special order decorated cake. Over the years we have ordered ton's of stuff special order: well the decorater either quit or got fired: YOU WILL NOT GET A PROFESSIONALLY DECORATED CAKE THERE!!! I ordered a cake for my son's 18th Bday, Luau themed, I asked for Hawaiian flowers, I wish I could upload a pictture of the cake that I paid 61.00 for, my 4 year old neigbor could have done a better job. When I went in to express my dissapointment (had to go twice to catch a manager) I was told it's really hard to pull a vision from someones head, REALLY, hawaiian flowers, ever heard of google? Half the cake had blue frosting slapped on it, (very messy) with a plastic crab in the middle of the blue, it had white flowers around the edge that were 4 mini marshmallows with a drop of green in the center, some sugar surf boards and some sugar tiki guys, the happy birthday looked like a 1st grader wrote it. I wasn't expecting a refund the cake was delish, maybe a gift certificate towards a cake in the future, so I would come back (I won't) I was offered a cake right then off the shelf, UH NO! The manager finally asked what I did want and I said, I want you to admit this doesn't look professionally decorated, and he did finally admit it. The reason I decided to write the review was because my best friend ordered a cake there a week after I did ( I didn't know she did that btw) she wanted an OSU cake for her nephew, it was a white frosted cake with peach writing on it and mardi gras beads around the edge, oh and 2 tiny sugar footballs.. REALLY???? I would order a cake there (they are delicious) and decorate myself or just go to Freddy's or Safeway if you want it to look good.

Love this place! Home style cooking. My whole family likes to come here. Something for everyone. Not a place for the dieter. If you want pot roast, turkey and mashed potatoes then this is the place. Burgers are great! My kids love their fish and chips. You can't eat here without visiting the bakery they have. So many yummy treats in there with a gift shop. You can eat soup and sandwiches in the bakery. Homemade breads. Yum!

I generally sit in the bar ("saloon") rather than the restaurant, unless it's wintertime and I want to be close to that big stone fireplace. The decor is a little tacky, but homey. The Tollgate has by far the best breakfasts in Sandy. Their portions are generous (6-egg omelets), and everything's always cooked to order and done right. It's a great place to watch football on Sunday morning, and have breakfast and a bloody mary. The coffee's only okay at best. Dinners are mostly safe, but unspectacular. There's a big selection of salads, fried foods, burgers, sandwiches, and entrees. There's always a special too. Unfortunately, the burgers come on dense, chewy ciabatta rolls. Desserts should be better considering they have their own bakery next door. Cheesecake is consistently grainy and overly sweet. Everything's good, nothing's great (except for breakfast). Overall: good portions, decent food, friendly service!

Although it IS the nicest place in town aesthetically, the prices are ridiculous here. Their specials were a piece of chicken for $13.99 or a BURGER for $7. The place looks great on the outside (like an old ghost town facade), has a very nice atmosphere inside and the staff is super friendly. If I were going to build a nice family restaurant with attached bar and cafe, this is how I'd make it look. If you're looking for a mediocre dinner for two at 40 to 50 bucks in Sandy, this may be just the place you need.
