Since we were staying close to Salem on the last night of my most recent Oregon trip, my friends took me to Tup Tim Thai Cuisine (TTT) for dinner for my birthday. My friend said that there are a lot of Thai restaurants in Salem, but this smaller shop was one of her favorites. She and her BF had been there several times before, so I trusted that they knew the best go-to spots when it came to Thai. The eatery featured a pretty cozy interior, but since we were there on a regular March Monday around 7:20 p.m., the restaurant wasn't full -- only a few other tables were occupied. My friend's BF had arrived before us and ordered an appetizer. Our orders were taken shortly after, and it didn't take too long for our food to come out, either. I had an enjoyable experience at TTT and would definitely return again. Here's what we got: "Garden Fresh Rolls": My friend's BF ordered these rolls before we even came to the eatery as an appetizer, so they were already on the table when we got there. The dish of four featured soft fresh rolls stuffed with rice noodles, tofu, carrots, fresh greens and Thai basil served with homemade sweet chili sauce with crushed peanuts. I probably would have ordered the less healthy option (the fried egg rolls) if it were up to me, but I liked the fresh-tasting ingredients of these garden rolls. My favorite part had to be the crushed peanuts that were garnished on top and that sweet chili sauce, which I gently drizzled over my roll. Great appetizer and a great choice if you want something healthy and fresh. "House Special Fried Rice": After trying to decide between this dish and the Pad Thai, I opted for the fried rice. It featured a traditional Thai fried rice with egg, garlic, tomatoes, broccoli, onions, green onions, fresh cucumber, cilantro and lime. I customized my fried rice but getting it sans onions (all onions) and tomatoes, and figured I could just push the cucumber pieces to the side. Thankfully, the fried rice did not come with much cucumber (only a few chopped slices), and I really enjoyed the taste of this dish. I loved the generous amounts of broccoli that was included, as well as the garlic and egg flavors. This is a good choice if you want a more traditional, no-fuss, no-frills rice dish. "Drunken Noodles": This is my friend's go-to entrée from TTT, and I enjoyed a taste of her noodles. The entrée consists of pan-fried flat rice noodles with egg, onions, green beans, zucchini, carrots, bell peppers, Thai chili and basil. The flat rice noodles definitely featured lots of flavor. I probably wouldn't order this dish for myself, since I don't like many of the mix-ins--carrots, green beans, onions and bell peppers--but the noodles themselves were super soft and tasty. "Basil Fried Rice": If I had the chance to try another fried rice from this restaurant, this is the one I would go for. It includes garlic, homemade chili, basil, egg, onions and bell peppers. Of course, I would order mine sans the bell peppers and onions, but everything else sounds phenomenal. This fried rice dish is pretty similar to the "House Special" entrée that I ordered, except it features a stronger basil flavor. I love basil, so I'm sure this entrée would be right up my alley. "Pad Thai": Pad Thai tends to be my go-to at Thai restaurants, just because I like trying the different versions--every Thai eatery has its own take on Pad Thai--and because it tends to be a "safe" dish. This version features pan-fried rice noodles made with homemade Pad Thai sauce, egg, sweet radish, green onions, red onions, ground peanuts and bean sprouts. I would order this Pad Thai sans the sweet radish, onions and bean sprouts, but I look forward to trying the delicious noodles coated generously in pad tai sauce and garnished with ground peanuts (my favorite part because it adds some texture and crunch to the dish). "Garlic Chicken Noodles": These pan-fried flat noodles come with chicken, green onions and white onions in garlic sauce served over bed of iceberg lettuce. This was one of the other entrees that caught my eye, simply because I love those flat noodles and I LOVE garlic sauce. I'll just have to save this entrée for another visit, however, and I would get it sans the onions (all onions) if I ever ordered it. I just thought it was interesting that these noodles came served over a bed of iceberg lettuce ... nothing like some salad with your noodles. "Tup Tim Medley": I seriously contemplated ordering this appetizer medley for my actual dinner, but I decided that it contained too many fried items for one person to ingest (more like too many fried items that I shouldn't consume all in one sitting). It features a combo of satay, garden fresh rolls, wontons and chicken pot stickers. The satay included skewers of chicken that were marinated in coconut milk and Thai spices and served with peanut sauce, which sounded super yummy.

We decided to try this place after reading the reviews. Large menu and a couple of specials. Service pretty good, although our waitress got confused and put a seafood dish in front of me. Not what I ordered, and being allergic to shellfish, this made me rather nauseous before our food even arrived. Still optimistic, we were very disappointed in the first dish: lettuce wraps. Do not order this, particularly if you're on a first date! We somehow thought that the wraps would come wrapped, but the little plate arrived with the filling and a small wedge of iceberg lettuce (including the core). Maybe in Thailand they use nice big lettuce leaves, but the little pieces of lettuce were impossible to turn into much resembling wraps. Just a mess. Had to wash my hands before the main course arrived, and it's not all that pleasant making your way back to the single grubby little unisex bathroom. Our main food selections arrived afterwards: Tom Ka soup (delicious), Eggplant Basil with chicken (medium hot) and Avocado Chicken in Green Curry (also medium). I would say that on your first visit, play it safe on the hotness... Definitely hotter than your average Thai scale. The tofu in the soup had a great texture. The avocado didn't really pop, but the green curry really was delicious. Overall, we will definitely come back and try again. But not a stellar first experience.

This place continues to be reliably good, with yummy affordable food, and quick service.

The food here is really good., nothing special but good the vegetables work perfectly protein which was chicken. I like this old place

WARNING -- Change of Ownership I've eaten at the Tup Tim Thai for about three years and had always been pleased with the food and service. That has all changed . New ownership has brought major changes to the kitchen and the front of the house. We were slow to be seated as the single person working the dining room was busy taking and handing out 'to-go' orders. The glassware and china was all miss-matched and the room was in disarray -- tables/chairs akimbo, missing hot sauce caddies, trash in waiting area. The food was very different from earlier visits and quite uneven in preparation. All three dishes were ordered 'medium' spicy -- two were bland and the other almost too spicy to eat (for me that's saying a lot). Noodles were overcooked, presentation was haphazard, and the Thai Iced Tea was both over-brewed and over-sweet. Two dishes were delivered together, and the third several minutes later. There was a sharp broken bone in my duck salad. I'm very disappointed in the rapid decline of this place as it was my favorite neighborhood restaurant. I'll have to drive a fair distance farther for my Thai food, but I won't be back here anytime soon. It's become just another strip-mall greasy spoon.

Stopped here after the state fair. Sooo good. I wish we lived closer because this would be our new Thai place. The salad rolls only come in tofu - no prawns - but they were perfect and came with two sauces which was nice. Our kids did the typical pad Thai and teriyaki and loved them both. We had chow mein and evil jungle prince, a yummy (medium is pretty spicy btw) curry dish with a nice amount of veggies. Every bite was so good but it was the little things that really put this place over the top: super friendly service, piping hot dishes brought out as soon as they're ready, quick and frequent refills on tea, very hot and strong jasmine tea, and a generous refill on rice that they didn't charge extra for - this is a must for a great Thai restaurant in my book. I highly recommend this one. Thanks Yelpers! You came through once again!!

We liked this place. It is hard to find food that is good in Salem but this was good. It was clean and nice looking inside. The food was well seasoned. The pumpkin curry was a little too hot and when I told her she quickly redid it to be more mild. The lady was very sweet about serving us. I would give the food 3.5 but that is not an option on YELP. We would for sure go again if we were in Salem.
(4)Amy B.
Looking for good local Thai and definitely found it here. Husband had Mussamo curry and I had shrimp pad Thai. Both were yummy. Got here about 7:30 on a Friday and got right in. Within 20 minutes, it was completely full.
(4)Savannah Veronica J.
I was nervous because a lot of people complained about the atmosphere but the tables were fine, decor was good, and I didn't think that it was weird at all. I did appreciate people writing about it though so I knew about that. Perhaps its changed since the last time people reviewed. That being said the bathrooms need a lil work and I saw a glimpse of the kitchen and it was a little dirty. However the food was awesome. I had #51 yellow curry with no potatoes, add broccoli, medium with tofu. It was to die for! Another thai place we used to go to changed their formula for yellow curry and Tup Tim Thai does it right!! Absolutely over joyed to find a place that has reasonable prices and excellent food. My husband had #68 Pad Thai and that was scrumptious as well. The homemade egg rolls were awesome (but late) and beware that their peanut sauce is chunky .... if thats your thing your in luck! It was okay. Over all we'll be back. My yellow thai was so good I licked the bowl when nobody was looking!
(5)Elaine C.
This is my favorite their restaurant but today the service was so slow! There was only one person covering the phone and all of the tables. We waited for about 5 minutes to get water. The food is amazing though and I will definitely be coming back.
(4)George H.
The food will make your head explode. I'm disappointed in the time it takes for take out orders, they always say 15 minutes but it's usually around 30. Also they always put chicken in when I order tofu! But it's not a big deal because their food is ridiculous.
(4)Charles A.
As many reviewers have noted, don't go here for the ambiance, go for the food. As they have gone on over several years, the friendly staff has gotten the service and the speed of preparation together. They are on a par with any Thai restaurant in Salem in those categories now. The food is excellent, although some of the dishes may be slightly different than say Thai Orchid or Thai Beer. One thing I like, mild is mild, except for the Pumpkin Curry, which starts at hot and goes to "my teeth are melting." Their soups are uniformly great. I am not much of a fish fan, but my friends who are speak highly of all the finny offerings. Tup Tim Thai is the goto place for my wife and I, when we want Thai carryout. We live about cooking time away, so a phone call and the food is hot and ready when we get there. They have a varied menu, but we have settled on Pad Thai, Pineapple or Mango Fried Rice, and Massaman. When you find what you like, why switch.
(4)Marc Y.
We used to stop downtown Salem at the Thai Orchid, but since we moved to South Salem we have gotten to know the Tup Tim Thai and really enjoy the cozy atmosphere, excellent service, and tasty options for Gluten Free and Vegan. The Salad Rolls with tofu are excellent.
(4)Melody S.
Went here a couple nights ago and was the best Mussaman Curry I have ever had! I order that dish every time at Thia restaurants and this place made it the best, wanted to drink the remaining sauce Most Thia places have 4 curries, red, yellow, green, and Mussaman, this place has a pumpkin and pineapple, must try those asap! Will be returning.
(5)Jake T.
The only slight criticism is that when you call in an order they tend to be a little off on their time estimate. The food however is amazing and more than worth the extra bit of time. My wife and I have been dining here and ordering take-out for a long time and will definately continue. Give them a shot and y ou won't regret it
(4)B And J B.
My husband and I had dinner here recently and we very impressed. In our book, if you can find a place in Salem with great food and that is clean, it is a win; this place has both. We had both the yellow curry with chicken and the mango curry with seafood- both were wonderful, and I can imagine I'll get the same next time. The food had great flavors and spice, and the service was friendly and quick. We look forward to trying more of the menu out!
(5)Alicia S.
As an avid fan of Thai Orchid, I was pleasantly surprised about this place. I ordered the Pad See Ew and it was ready within 10-15 min. Way quicker than Thai Orchid. It is also a couple bucks cheaper than most places if you're looking to save a few dollars. Will be returning again soon!
(4)Tyson A.
This place is suhweet if you like thai food. If you're like me, I think of thai food as a snack between meals. This place impressed me with the thai steak salad, I ordered on a warm day, epic! Thing was huge and just tasted fresh. Awesome quality of foods and priced right.
(5)Kelsey M.
The food here is top notch and their prices are very fair. They went through a period a few months back with a different chef who did NOT understand the recipes so it was rough going for a while. However, in recent months things have improved and are back up to their former standards. My favorite dishes include the Panang Curry mild or medium with chicken or tofu (I could drink this curry sauce...so good), Tom Kha soup, Evil Jungle Prince, and Massuman Curry. If you're looking for good Thai, this is the best Salem has to offer.
(5)Mel D.
Didn't enjoy the food here. Didn't taste like any Thai food I'd ever had before. Very bland. The coconut soup was enjoyable.
(2)Jo L.
This is great Thai! It's not fast food because it's cooked fresh, so expect a wait especially if the dining room is full. It's so worth the wait! Servings are plenty with enough for leftovers, and these never go to waste in my house! My mouth waters just thinking about it! Pad Thai is super good! Curry is great but ask for mild then add your own level of heat. You have been warned! I like the burn but not everyone can handle the heat! Enjoy because I sure do every time!
(5)Jasmine A.
Best food ever but the service was terrible. We ordered to go. They barley spoke English and we had a hard time communicating. They give me attitude and tossed my change at the table. And thanks for the spoon... It was helpful in eating my noodles. Won't be going there again
(1)Sophie B.
Very good food. I admit, I am very unfamiliar with Thai food, but I know what flavors I like so its fun to try different things. Cute, clean, nicely decorated, easy to find to South Salem restaurant. I ordered Pad Thai and it was excellent. Flavorful, lots of chicken and huge portion. My only complaint is that we were there on a Saturday and the special menu had a lunch and dinner size/price and I wasn't hungry enough to eat a dinner size portion. But no go on weekends. (Please chance your sign board). At any rate, it was tasty and I was full! I will come back for lunch sometime.
(5)Chris S.
5 stars for the food alone... The dine in atmosphere is.. well almost awkward feeling at times... I'm not sure if its the close proximity of the tables, the smallness of the space, or the lighting... but with good company it's still fun. For take out however... never disappointed!! Basil fried rice will last for 3 meals, and is outstanding. I love the pad that, and all of their curries. It is a favorite of ours, specially on late nights when cooking is just not happening.

I'm in Salem for the summer before moving back up to Portland (y'know, home of Pok Pok) and found myself really craving some Thai last night. Having formerly lived in SF and then downtown PDX, and being used to just popping into the nearest amazing Thai place (usually a couple blocks from my apartment), didn't want to make the 15-20 minute drive to my Salem standby, Thai Orchid, for what I was really craving, drunken noodles (pad kee mao). 'Orchid' does that dish super well. Well... I shoulda made the trek. Maybe. I ordered drunken noodles at Tup Tim, and some red curry for takeout. It's closer to me (a mere 10-minute drive). Both were good, if a bit mediocre. And the drunken noodles were not at all what I was expecting. Which is good, in that it made me try some new version of a dish I love, but isn't the point of splurging to get a dish you're craving that you know you love it a certain way? OH it was SO disappointing. So I barely touched it, but, instead, moved on to the curry. Which was sufficiently tasty. To me, Thai curry is like pizza. It's all pretty good. They get three stars because their food was actually pretty good, and, well, it wasn't their fault that my expectations for one of their dishes was that it taste like one of their competitors' versions of that dish. That said, I wasn't moved by this place, so... they don't get four stars.
(3)Lucia M.
My favorite Thai restaurant in Salem! Being new to the Salem scene, I kept trying different Thai places, but none seemed that great. Thai Orchid was good, but it hadn't convinced me. So glad we found Tup Tim Thai! I would definitely recommend the Pad Thai, the Yellow Curry and the Pineapple Fried Rice. They were on point!! I will say, the service is alright - our waitress seemed a bit busy handling all the to-go orders that kept coming in.
(5)C C.
Really good Thai food. Spicy fried rice was excellent, Pad Thai is really good, three spice fish dish was excellent. The curry with NO coconut cream is extremely hot, but good. I did have an eggplant dish that was just okay. Nice decor, you can always get a table.
(4)Heath P.
We started with the lettuce wraps (without peanut) which were delicious. They had cilantro in them and we added garlic chili sauce to them. They had a nice a fresh flavor that we both really enjoyed. My wife ordered the Mango red curry with chicken and raved about it. I had a few bites and it was very good lots of contrasting flavors. I ordered the chili basil with mixed seafood. It had some calamari with scallops a nice piece of fish in it too. I ordered medium spice but could have probably gone with hot. However it was nothing a little garlic chili sauce couldn't fix. After eating here we both would have to say that this is our favorite Thai place in Salem and we are definitely going back!
(4)Sara S.
I order the red curry for lunch. It tastes delicious every time. I recommend this place! Always satisfied.
(5)Elijah B.
The only reason I am giving any stars is because the food is pretty good, albeit not the best. The customer service and delivery is awful. I ordered a curry to go and apparently they did not have any to-go bowls because they used tinfoil to sculpt a canoe looking thing and put it in there. When they handed me the bag, I didn't think to check and I put the bag in my car. The first corner I took caused the curry to go everywhere. Just take the time and go to one of the other Thai places in town where the food is just as good, just as cheap, and not nearly the poor quality in service.
(2)Shannon K.
I love the food! We get takeout here once per week usually. The Tom Kha soup and spicy beef salad are TASTY....as are all of their curry dishes. Salem needs more quality restaurants like this one!
(5)Michele M.
Yummy!! Consistent service and food. Love their Tom Kha soup. So greatful for a reasonably priced Thai restaurant in Salem.
(5)Zander L.
This place is so excellent. The food is always amazing! They do excellent take out too!
(5)Kyle R.
tried their curry today. next want to try their noodles (ERIN H thanks a lot!). i got their mango curry, which was very flavorful and easy to eat. added tofu which was not bad but not great. got an order to go. very fast and efficient...and correct!
(4)Deanna R.
The food was good and a good value. During this trip, the server was frustrated because I asked for no onions in my phad thai and she brought it with onions and I sent it back and this caused her to be on the edge of rude from then on. I tried the thai coffee and it was really interesting and something I hadn't seen in any other thai restaurant. As for atmosphere, it is in a strip mall and that's how it feels inside, too, but it was clean.
(3)Kevbo H.
Hands down the best Thai food in Salem. Fresh veggies, delicious sauces, great prices.
(5)Carson K.
The atmosphere is not my favorite since it is in a strip mall. However, the service is good and the food is awesome! We get food from here all the time for take out. I really like their soups and pad thai. This is the best place we have found for Thai food in Salem so far.
(5)Ruth S.
Great lunch place. Co-worker and I went for the $6.50 lunch special today. I had tofu pad thai, which is one of those dishes that would be pretty hard to mess up. What I got was hot, fresh, and a big portion for the money. They dress their pad thai up a little more than other places--it had red onion, radish and broccoli in addition to the usual green onion and bean sprouts. Overall, tasty. The service was fast and friendly without being intrusive. We got there right when it opened so the place was mostly empty. As others have noted, it is kind of a large, quiet, stark space. Let's just say I wouldn't go there to have an intimate, private conversation. But for casual lunch with a friend, it was perfect. :)
(4)D B.
This place is a real gem! Nice, clean, relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic food that is fresh, full of flavor, & aesthetically pleasing.
(4)Grover R.
We recently moved back to Salem from an area with a lot of diverse food. I had my doubts about Thai food in Salem...but no more! We've been twice now and everything has been great. The lunch specials are a great value and the service is solid. "Prick Kring", "Evil Jungle Prince", and the pumpkin curry were great.
(5)Sara J.
I'm new to Salem and love Thai food. After checking with friends and getting a few recommendations, I tried Tup Tim, in part because it's so conveniently located in South Salem. What a delight! Simple but pleasant decor, service was fine, and the food was super fresh. I ordered a dish called Evil Jungle Prince in part because the ingredients looked good but (truly) mostly because I was feeling adventurous and loved the name. Now it's my favorite dish and I get it every time. Seriously, if I want something else to eat while I'm there, I order Evil Jungle Prince to take home for later. In fact, just writing about it makes me wish I could go get some right now!
(4)Bill Y.
So on a whim last night we stopped at this place for dinner. What a nice surprise! The restaurant was quiet but they had a lot of customers coming in for take out. I tried the Drunken Noodles with Chicken and it was delicious. My wife ordered the Pad Thai and I almost had entree envy. Overall the food was excellent. Service was a bit weird as the waitress brought out items one at a time with a sizeable pause in between deliveries.
(4)Suzann L.
We went to this restaurant based on reading other Yelp reviews and were VERY pleased with our choice. And, as others have said, the ambiance is quite poor - it's really plain-jane inside almost to the point of stark. And, as others have said... the food is GREAT!! We got the Tom Kha soup and loved it. Also ginger chicken is fabulous. We talked to the folks at the table next to us and they raved about the place too. The prices are sooo reasonable. I definitely recommend this place, go there and have yourself a Thai feast. I concur with some of the previous reviewers, the only thing holding this restaurant back from 5-stars is the atmosphere. But if the decor is really a show-stopper for you, get carry-out and eat it at home, you'll be happy you did.
(4)Tim G.
Well, most of the reviewers have noted that this place is not much to look at from the outside. Strip mall and when you walk in it's sparse. I came in about 12:45 and three of the 8 tables were vacant with dirty dishes still on them. By the time I had left (approximately 30 minutes later) two of the three were still not cleared. I found this a little bothersome. My food was good. I really wanted a simple dish of Chicken Pad Thai and a Thai iced tea. I ordered the Pad Thai with medium heat. I'm glad I didn't go any hotter. I felt the burn for quite awhile. It was not bad though. The flavors and textures were all quite good. The sprouts and veggies were all fresh and crisp without any signs of wilt or "mushiness". I enjoyed my meal despite the spice induced runny nose and sweat on my brow. The Thai iced tea was good. A little sweeter than I would make, but not over the top. I would stop here again if I were craving Pad Thai and happened to be in the area. I do hope that the clean up a little quicker than they did during my visit.
(4)Eva C.
Very delicious food and much more generous portions than most Thai restaurants we've been to. Small, simple restaurant serving really good food. It was mid-week, dinnertime with quite a bit of traffic and to-go orders while we were there. We really enjoyed it and will be going back again!
(4)Dr. J.
Food is good, nothing standout really - somewhat of a unique take on some items but no complaints here... we did take-out and my wife informed me that it was a tad creepy inside.. just fyi. Again, food was good.
(3)Joe G.
I don't give the 5 start review lightly, but it's true. Tup Tim is the best Thai in Salem. Everything we have tried here is tasty, and the price / portion / value relationship is very good. I can't really find anything to complain about. I understand the decor is basic, but compares favorably with other local Thai joints, and what kind of decor can you demand in a place where dinner only costs $10? I will say there are a number of fairly decent Thai places in the Salem and Silverton area, however the others I would give 3.5 or 4 stars. Now if only Salem was blessed with the same luck in Indian food.
(5)Amanda F.
Amazing pumpkin curry, the mango stir fry is good too. They're pretty generous & also have lunch specials.
(5)Von G.
The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is due to it's physical location and the interior aesthetic of the restaurant. The authenticity of the food is excellent, the taste is even better. Salem doesn't have a lot of top notch restaurants and this one deserves the patronage since it's one of the best.
(4)Pauline E.
Ate dinner at Tup Tim with my husband tonight. Ordered the avocado shrimp and yellow curry. Proportions were perfect and The food was delicious! Wonderful service!!! Will definitely be going back again!!
(5)D L.
Checked out this place for lunch with a few of my co-workers and I was pleasantly surprised: At first I didn't think much of it, pretty simple decor in a tiny location, not a lot of people but the staff was friendly and humble (you can tell this is a family joint ran by some nice hard working people). The lunch menu was incredibly affordable; Drunken Noodles (they were excellent) dish was $6.50 and the portions were generous. If you're looking for a great Thai place in South Salem then this is an excellent choice. I work in South Salem and we do Thai downtown at Thai Orchid for working lunches routinely but now we will be coming here. Much closer, much cheaper and definitely much tastier. If you enjoy Thai Lotus in Keizer then Tup Tim Thai will feel just like home.
(4)Chanisa N.
Highly recommended this place. Very delicious and good price. We're Thai and the food here tastes like in Thailand :) We tried papaya salad, tom yum, heavenly fish. They were all great!
(5)kj g.
I am vegetarian and this review is only about the vegetarian dishes. I have been to this restaurant twice now and the second time was on the hope that the first experience was a fluke and could not get worse however, it did. The place was empty both times we visited, the first time there were 2 others and today there were 8 other people. The food on our first visit was bland. Today, we ordered vegetable spring rolls which reeked of meat/fish presumably having been fried in the same oil as meat dishes. The green curry was very average. The chow mein was tasteless and had an aftertaste. I will not be going back here again. Note to vegetarians and vegans: Was told that all their sauces contain fish sauce, specifically ask for dishes to be made with sauces made from scratch.
(1)Danielle M.
Good customer service, great atmosphere, that treasure/hole in the wall gem that everyone is hoping for in a city like Salem!
(4)Rachel B.
I got the red curry and I loved it. It had all the right vegetables and the perfect amount of spiciness. I asked for mild heat knowing that red curry is usually pretty spicy even when it's mild, so I got what I was hoping for. My husband ordered the drunken noodles, which he really enjoyed. I tasted them and thought they were so good that I'm planning on ordering them next time we visit! The service was excellent, the restaurant was nice and quiet (although it was a weeknight), and the food was a very good value for the money.
(4)Steven G.
Good food. Service a little slow.
(4)Geoffrey J.
Went here for dinner (first time). Excellent menu choices. Had vegetable egg rolls for appetizer. Ordered Pineapple Red Curry with Chicken & vegetables & jasmine rice. My wife had a green vegetable curry with tofu. Both were very good. Orders came promptly. Talked to friendly owner and told her we'll be back, frequently.
(4)Celine T.
Loved it! So grateful to have this wonderful Thai restaurant right around the corner from us. We have had a difficult time finding good Thai food here in Salem. Thai Lotus in Keizer has done us well, but (whine) it's so far. So far, we've sampled the Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, and Basil Stirfry. Each dish has been plentiful, and perfectly spiced. The spring rolls were really delicious but were kind of cold? Which was disappointing. I feel that the atmosphere here is a bit awkward. The lighting is too bright, and when you walk in, there's no buffer to separate you from the dining patrons, so while you wait on someone to seat you, or to pick up your order, you're just hanging out next to someone's table. It's taken a bit of time to get our food, but the service was nice.
(4)Ali R.
Not a friendly atmosphere. Food nothing special.
(2)Rebecca B.
Stumbled on this place when looking for food in South Salem. It was a pleasant surprise. Aside from the entire interior being decorated from Ikea furniture, this place is a gem. Great lunch specials starting at $6.50 and it comes with soup. The woman there was incredibly nice and very helpful. Will definitely be going back.
(4)Amos H.
Definitely the best Panang curry in Salem at a great price. Their pad thai is also very good. The lunch special is also a great deal. Well worth the trip to south Salem.

Absolutely delicious, very friendly service, but at least in the evenings it has seemed understaffed with just one waiter/waitress. My parent lived in Thailand and I have enjoyed trying any Thai restaurant I can over the years all over Oregon and other states. Tup Tim gets two thumbs up for prices, flavor and portions. The curries pack a punch if you ask for it. The peanut sauce and vinegar-cucumber sauces are just right. The veggies and meats are well-balanced and the portions are filling and often sufficient for leftovers. The service is always top-notch, friendly, with a smile and often jokes and friendly banter. I just can't do five stars when there has always been one poor person running around for take-out and the customers eating every time I've been in.

Tup Tim Thai serves pretty good Thai food. That means it is by far the best in Salem. Like all the Thai restaurants in the mid valley, TTT dials the heat back. Way, way back -- if you're expecting Bahn Thai or Pok Pok quality, you're going to be disappointed. Unfortunately, service is a challenge: the owner apparently understaffs deliberately (our waitress told us during our last visit that she -- the owner -- focuses most of her energy on her busier location in downtown Albany. On our last three visits, there has been one server and the dishwasher, a really nice guy who helps out, seems like an uncommonly hard worker, and should probably be given a decent uniform -- as the dishwasher, he's a hot mess and a bit of an appetite killer on the floor. Nobody wants to see the t-shirt that the remains of one's dinner are going to land on shortly. But it's the waiting that has killed our love for TTT. Here's hoping they check out their Yelp reviews some day and get the help they need.

I am new to Salem and decided to try out this place. I ordered the Tom Yum Noodle Soup. Let me first say I had great service and the order took time. I can understand why the order took a little time because when I received my hot steaming bowl of soup it looked and smelled amazing. I only have one complaint, the chicken in the soup was overdone, but it was white meat chicken, so that's not easy to cook perfectly in soup. Next time I will have tofu. I enjoyed my soup at the nicely decorated restaurant, and had enough left over to take home. I will definitely eat here again. I want to try more things on the menu. I heard the house fried rice was delicious.

I love this place. The food always tastes great and the ladies are super nice. I have eaten here 15 times at least and have enjoyed every one. Yesterday had green curry with tofu and it was awesome. Me like. ......just made another of many trips here, and tried something new to me, which was the clear broth soup with vegetables and tofu. Healthy and tasty. That's good eating!

Nice staff. Took a while to order, but we weren't in a hurry. However, I seem to be running into a lot of Thai restaurants lately that can't get the basic yellow curry right. This one was not "yellow"...mostly watery coconut milk...and without the depth of flavor that a good curry should have. Also, the chicken was dry and chewy. The crispy spring rolls were good. Not much here that is unusual enough to bring me back.

Great and affordable pad thai!!
(5)Paola A.
Wonderful food, my Husband had the Teriyaki chicken and I had the Seafood soup, hands down the best Thai food we have had, plus the service is great and fast!
(5)Sarah A.
I didn't really like it. The pad thai tasted like they used a sweet and sour sauce. No like.
(2)Maddie I.
So much better than Thai Orchid. Little place in a strip- easy access to yummy thai food. Panang curry is my favorite!
(4)Erin H.
Wow! I should have ordered mild, not medium, my first time in. I got the lunch special panang curry and it was good. Not as good as Thai Beer's panang, but still good. It was packed in a styrofoam container lined with foil. I thought this was an odd way to pack the food until I realized that they might be aware of the dangers associated with placing hot food in styrofoam containers. As for the lunch size--it was decent for $6.50. Certainly not huge. Best part of the visit was finding an Oregon Coast magazine from 1998 in their waiting area!
(4)Amos H.
Definitely the best Panang curry in Salem at a great price. Their pad thai is also very good. The lunch special is also a great deal. Well worth the trip to south Salem.

(4)Sarah A.

(5)Amy B.
(4)Jasmine A.
(5)Megan S.

Very delicious food and much more generous portions than most Thai restaurants we've been to. Small, simple restaurant serving really good food. It was mid-week, dinnertime with quite a bit of traffic and to-go orders while we were there. We really enjoyed it and will be going back again!

Food is good, nothing standout really - somewhat of a unique take on some items but no complaints here... we did take-out and my wife informed me that it was a tad creepy inside.. just fyi. Again, food was good.

Amazing pumpkin curry, the mango stir fry is good too. They're pretty generous & also have lunch specials.

The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is due to it's physical location and the interior aesthetic of the restaurant. The authenticity of the food is excellent, the taste is even better. Salem doesn't have a lot of top notch restaurants and this one deserves the patronage since it's one of the best.

Highly recommended this place. Very delicious and good price. We're Thai and the food here tastes like in Thailand :) We tried papaya salad, tom yum, heavenly fish. They were all great!

Good customer service, great atmosphere, that treasure/hole in the wall gem that everyone is hoping for in a city like Salem!

Good food. Service a little slow.

Not a friendly atmosphere. Food nothing special.
