I can't believe this place closed! I came here in January for dinner and it was pretty freaking good. I was worried about all the low reviews but my date wouldn't stop raving about it. It was $10 for a full dinner, bread, salad or soup, pasta, and dessert! Service was great and the place was about 40% full. I came here again for an early birthday dinner and we wondered why there were no cars in the parking lot. Then as we tried to open the door, it was closed! We looked inside and the whole place had been emptied out! WTF! That was the first time that has ever happened to me. I was only just there a few months ago! It must've cost too much to keep the giant restaurant running =/

Went there for dinner tonight because we got them confused with The Spaghetti Warehouse which was having a $5 red sauce special, while this is The Old Spaghetti Warehouse which is not related. Anyway, it was a nice enough dinner. My father and I had the Spaghetti with Browned Butter and Mozzarella Cheese. It was ok, not nearly as good as Spaghetti Factory's Browned Butter with Myzthra cheese though. I actually don't think they browned the butter though. It didn't taste like it. It tasted as if they just melted the butter instead. The bread they brought out was a sourdough bread but it seemed really dry to my father and I. We just had to put a ton of garlic butter on it. When I was a kid we went to their old location quite often and always enjoyed it. But to me there are better places to go now. Probably won't go back unless we have a coupon or some other incentive.

It seems that there is a lack of management going on or something. There were four of us that went last night (Friday evening), and from the moment we checked in everything was chaotic and frantic. The gal that took our name was apparently not the normal hostess but she was clearly out of sorts. So, we headed up to the bar to have a drink while we waited to be seated. The bartender was awesome. She was super friendlly and had a calm demeanor and was obviously very, very busy, but super helpful. I spoke to a woman who was eating at the bar and she and her husband come once and week and she always orders the chicken parmesan. It looked delicious. We finally got seated, and for as not-busy as they were by that time of night (8pm-ish), the food server sure made herself scarce. It took about 20 minutes to get water, and then we decided to order their spinach and artichoke appetizer. Definitely not worth the price. It tasted premade, and it wasn't even hot. Another 20 minutes or so and we finally caught the server's attention so we could order our meals. One of us ordered the pesto pasta, two of us ordered the chicken parm with browned butter and cheese sauce, and the 4th ordered the calzone. The pesto pasta came out cold and was just so-so. The calzone looked and tasted delicious according to the patron. The two of us who ordered the chicken parm were horribly disappointed. There was no browned butter. It was simply olive oil and maybe a little bit of melted butter and cheese on top of pasta. I know how to make browned butter, and that wasn't it. The chicken parm was a very small portion and was cold. We opted not to get salads, but our dinners were supposed to come with garlic bread. None of us got the garlic bread ever. We might have had we been able to get the food server's attention. But she just disappeared till the end of our meal when she came back to give us our bill. When we went to pay up in front at the hostess station (which seems like a bad idea to me), the hostess explained that they had had two people call in sick and that everything was out of sorts. I told her that it was obvious because people were running around without direction and it all just was so chaotic. There is no other word for it. It's the first time in years that I've not left a tip. But there is no excuse for poor service to me. Even if you can pop by our table and tell us that you're aware we're here and that you'll be with us as soon as possible, that's something. But to be ignored is not appropriate. I would be willing to try this place again, but SPAGHETTI WAREHOUSE, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!! Fix what's wrong. Your ratings on Yelp seem to be pretty bad, and it's obvious why. Pay attention to what the customers are saying and turn it around.

Seems like this place is getting a lot of hate here and to be honest, it's not all that terrible. It's incredibly cheap, you get a lot of food and the service isn't the worse out there. It's true most people can cook better pasta at home but for 9-11$ a place for a 3 course meal what do you expect? My kids love it and I don't have to spend 80$ to take my family of 5 out for dinner. Personally I would much rather bring my family here for some inexpensive pasta than sit in the waiting lobby of Olive Garden for 45 minutes to get Italian food that isn't light years better.

My husband and I (and two teenagers) found this restaurant by accident while trying to find parking Knowing the Spaghetti Factory we figured we'd try it. The sign outside said lunch started at 11AM and seeing as it was 11.40 AM we figured we would be in luck. We walked into the restaurant and there were two lonely souls eating, the decor is really pretty and interesting so we waited to be seated (as the sign instructed). We waited and we waited. The other two diners got up and left. We waited, we called out "hello, hello" no response. We noticed an open purse at the hostess area with a wallet in it and hoped this meant the trusting soul who left it there might have just dashed to the bathroom, and would be back soon. We noticed a piano and struck up a tune, hoping this would bring some service... service in return for entertainment? No such luck. Eventually we left and then noticing the telephone number on the outside menu and decided to give this a try (we don't like to give up). We rang the number... lo and behold... what do you know... someone answered the phone and we re-entered the establishment. I began to wonder whether an episode of 'Candid Camera" might be in the process of being filmed. We were seated by what seemed like a few confused individuals who may or may not have been working at the restaurant. Our server was sweet but ditzy. She rushed off to get menus and then returned to get our drinks order telling us we needed more time (not so much but oh well). We got water and straws and she left to give us more time... eventually we gave her our complex order (two pepsi's, one coffee and a lemonade) she left to get our drinks. Returned with a bread and butter (no plates) so we happily hacked off slices of bread cracking up laughing at what was turning out to be a rather eccentric meal. After several offers to give us more time, we finally were able to order our meal, and were brought to new levels of hysteria (laughter) when the server replenished our bread by bring it to the table balanced on the end of the knife. The food I might say was really delicious and worth the other shennanigans. I would recommend that this restaurant focus on giving lunch staff some training and have at least one person present on the floor after 11 AM and that would improve things a lot! Less tolerant and more grumpy clients would have left a long time before we did!!!

Probably one of the cheapest full meals in Salem. Around 10 bucks (up from around seven as of a year or two ago - that's inflation for ya) will get you bread, salad, a big serving of pasta with your choice of sauce, and a dessert. The food is predictable Italian restaurant fare - there are no surprises here - but it's tasty enough. The low prices and classic food combined with the severely outdated decor make for a pleasantly anachronistic dining experience, although it can get loud inside. And do get the Creme Brulee for dessert. It's probably the best thing on the menu.

The waitress saved this place from 1 star. I hadn't been here in like 10 years...and was hoping it had changed. But low and behold, it hadn't. The atmosphere was still dark and campy (not good campy). The place was packed on a Thursday (amazing). Anyway, our waitress was super attentive, efficient and friendly. The food was well below average...basically, meaning I could have made the spaghetti better at home....and it would have tasted a lot better. The started salad was all iceberg crap. The bread was nothing special. The spaghetti tasted like it came out of a can. Gross. So...overall, I have no clue why this place was packed with people. I haven't a clue why this place is still in business. But what I do know is that I won't be back here in another 10 years...and that I'll live the rest of my life without stepping foot into this establishment again. Sure the prices are reasonable...but what you get does not even equal the lower cost.

Disappointed is best word I can think of to sum up my experience. I don't want to give a laundry list of complaints without first saying a few positives. The restaurant is pretty- its a fun ambiance. The sourdough bread was warm and really good. The salad, while not extraordinary was also pretty good. I ordered the spaghetti with brown butter and cheese sauce. Maybe I was expecting it to be the equivalent of the Brown Butter Mizithrah spaghetti at another Portland restaurant with a similar name. But it wasn't. It was just mediocre. Not terrible but not excellent either. Once it cooled enough so that the cheese set up, it was a lot harder to eat without getting a mouthful of partially congealed cheese. My daughter (15) ordered the personal pizza and ate less than 1/4 of it. Her assessment was that it tasted like a frozen grocery store pizza. The biggest letdown though was just the attention of the servers. They were sweet and polite but they just didn't seem to be "on the ball." I was with friends who had small children. My friends had to ask repeatedly for extra plates for the kids, extra napkins, a cup with a lid for the toddler, etc. Even children issues aside, my salad came with the wrong dressing and my friend's ice-tea took an unreasonable amount of time to arrive to the table. It just seemed like inattention. I bear the Old Spaghetti Warehouse no ill-will. I just probably won't be back.

I never write reviews but this was such a horrible experience that I think people need to know to stay clear of this place! Our family went there for my daughter's birthday which was a mistake. After our dinner, I left feeling like we had just been in some strange episode of The Twilight Zone. The whole dinner was just bizarre. The service at this place was bad, bad, BAD!!!! We had to change our order two different times because the waitress kept saying, "Oh I'm sorry we are all out of that." They had no pesto sauce and no chicken!!!!! And the waitress said it with such a cheesy smile and sarcastic voice! She could care less!!! There was only one other couple in the whole place and they got up and left after 15 minutes. I wish we would have! Seriously do not waste your time or money! I doubt if this restaurant will make it much longer.

OK, so my son and daughter-in-law were here from Las Vegas. We decided on a hike at Silver Falls State Park, and then a ride on the Carousel. Afterwards, we decided on some dinner. They pulled up a list of about 20 restaurants in the area, and we decided on this one (Old Spaghetti Warehouse). WHAT A MISTAKE! I knew after being served the salad that it would have been best to just pay for what we had (salad, soup, bread) and leave, but my family wanted to stay because they were SO HUNGRY. The service here is horrible, and if you have any food allergies (gluten, lactose, etc), don't expect to be treated fairly. If you order the dinner, it comes with soup or salad, bread, your entree and a dessert. But they do not have gluten free bread, the only pasta available is spaghetti AND THEY CHARGE EXTRA for it. And there are NO dessert options. Not to mention that they don't even try to make you feel like it matters to them. I mean, obviously it doesn't. If you have a food issue, they treat you like a third-rate citizen...not even an "I'm sorry we don't accommodate that, perhaps we can give you something else." Just a flat "no." Plus the service was horrible. I realize the menu says to expect your meal to take 20 minutes, but we waited almost an hour...and the place was not busy. There were empty tables everywhere. Our waitress was obviously not paying any attention, because when we told her that I was the only one who was gluten-free, and my son said he would take all of the gluten I didn't want, our waitress did not give him any croutons, and said it was because I am gluten free, and then when we asked if there was gluten free bread, she said no, but delivered a bread plate to me anyway (after we chased her down to GET bread plates). My son did say that the bread pudding was to die for. So here is what I suggest...don't eat here, the service is atrocious, and the staff is barely tolerable. If you must have spaghetti, go ANYWHERE else. However, call ahead and order some of the bread pudding to go. Do not put yourself or your family through the rude, horrible service of this place! Oh, and when we spoke to management about the fact that being gluten free meant that I didn't get any bread or dessert, so could I have those things taken off my bill? She said no, those items are complimentary with the meal. I would like to understand "complimentary" when it is charged at a higher rate. JUST DON'T EAT HERE. It is the only good advice I can provide.

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. It is now one of my favorite restaurants in Salem. For only $12 you get a complete meal: bread, soup or salad, entree, and dessert. They bring you the bread on a cutting board and you cut and butter it yourself. The soup is actually in a bowl, not a tiny cup. I ordered the half vegetarian calzone, half spaghetti plate (I chose the white mushroom sauce) and it was amazing. For dessert I chose the creme brulee, which was great but it did need a thicker layer of caramel. The service was great, too! The main part of the restaurant was packed and way too noisy so they happily let us move into the much more quiet side room. Can't wait to go there again!

Previously Allesandro's restaurant, the Old Spaghetti Warehouse is no longer set up as fine dining, but now family dining. (The man next to us kept taking ice out of his water glass and putting it in his red wine!!!) So, that was an adjustment. The food was okay. Both my husband and I had the spaghetti with meat sauce dinner (comes with bread & butter, soup or salad and a dessert). The price was good for what you get. And the servicer was nice. The place seemed a little dirty, though. Had to ask for another salt shaker, since there was some unidentified sticky white stuff all over the top. So, for about the same price, I think I would rather eat at the Olive Garden ...

Just for the ambiance alone, I will go again. Bed booths and old memorabilia make it fun of kids. Dim lighting makes it doable for a romantic evening. Now the food! I got a delicious 3 course meal for $10. Endless supply of bread and a small (plain) salad or soup for the 1st course. For the entrée Spaghetti is the name of the place. They have an array of sauces to adorn your choice of pasta with. You can also choose from a variety of classic Italian dishes. The wait is something to be desired, bring something for the little ones to do!! It is worth it. For the 3rd course you can choose from several deserts. Make sure you check hours. They are only open for dinner. Happy eating!

I've been going to Spaghetti Warehouse in Salem for years and have never had a bad experience. Prices are reasonable, good portions of food, and service is excellent. They have a good variety of sauces if you're going for spaghetti, and the baked dishes are very tasty! I'd recommend the calzone and lasagna. They also provide unlimited 1/2 loaves of sourdough bread w/ garlic butter...yummmm!!

Went here tonight for Valentines dinner with my wife. We had tried Olive Garden (2.5 hour wait) and another place (can't recall the name) until we decided on this from the recommendation from the girls at the second place that we went to. The wait here wasn't too bad, considering we were here on V-day. We waited no more than 45 minutes. The ambiance was ok. Dimly lit. Old furniture. The carpets were a bit, ok way, outdated and dirty. But all in all, it wasn't too bad. The sign when you walk in lets you know that they will be closing down on the 28th day of February to re-open in a new place. Once seated, we ordered our food. I had the pasta with two sauces, clam sauce and white mushroom sauce. My wife ordered pasta with two sauces also, choosing tomato sauce and brown butter/cheese. We also ordered the bruschetta appetizer. All-in-all the food was decent. I could have used a bit more clam in my clam sauce...same with mushrooms in the mushroom sauce. But it was good for the price. My wife enjoyed the tomato sauce, saying the brown butter/cheese sauce needed some more work. Salad and soup were standard fare. Bread was warm and soft. And our dessert of creme brulee was smooth and creamy with a nice crunchy top. Our server Sarah did a great job at taking care of our table. Only mistake was trying to take my salad plate before I was finished. Other than that, she was superb and would welcome her to work at my restaurant anytime. This is a good place to go with both the family and on dates, but only if you're not expecting a fine dining joint. I will DEFINITELY be back for more.

My whole family (6)had dinner with some friends, there was 8 of us in all. We all ordered something different except the kids. About half way through the dinner our youngest got really sick and threw up on the way to the bath room. We cut our outing short for obvious reasons, but by the time we all got home everyone was sick. It was like the food was cooked in dish soap or something. I also found out our friends became ill? I have to say it was such a weird deal we could only isolate it to the dinner. I hate leaving negative feedback and rarely would, but I am convinced it was the food. It was short and intense and happened right after eating and went away after the purge....unlucky for us and this eatery!

I have NO idea how this place is still in business. To be fair, I have only eaten here once and it was years ago. But the fact that I haven't been back ought to say something. It was gross, boring, and took forever to get out of the kitchen. And that's all I have to say.

We've only eaten here once even though this place is within walking distance of our house. Every other neighborhood restaurant that we've been to once, we've gone back to at least a few times. Our visit was probably 8 years ago, all I remember is that the interior was dark and kinda run-down, and the food was utterly unmemorable, but cheap. Since the exterior hasn't changed, I'm guessing what's on the inside probably hasn't either, but I'm not willing to check to make sure!

We haven't been to the Old Spaghetti Warehouse since it moved. Food is still great but the service was very slow and they've cut back on the portions. They've also raised the prices a bit. Waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Ok. I went here not expecting fine dining. But, being a Spaghetti Factory fan from way back and assuming the Spaghetti Warehouse would be cut from a similar cloth, I was interested to see what it had to offer. I found pretty much what I was expecting. We were in Salem just for a night, stopping off between Ashland and Seattle. We had not eaten since breakfast and so went for an early dinner around 4:30. As such, we found the place not particularly busy and we were immediately seated at comfy table with bed frame benches. Drinks were ordered. Menu was perused. There are two sides to the main menu: One lists the various sauces you can have with your spaghetti. The other lists the restaurant's "specialties." We both ordered off the latter, with my ordering the Chicken Parmesan and my husband ordering the the Cannelloni. My Chicken Parmesan was a bit different than what I've had most other places: It was small chunks of chicken instead of a single breast fillet. But, that is just fine. It was mixed with chunks of mushrooms and topped with a yummy red sauce. The chicken is served with a "full order" of spaghetti, topped with any of the sauce offerings. I went for the white sauce, made with wine, swiss cheese and mushrooms, which I thought sounded interesting and a bit different. And, it was both. I ate just a fraction of my spaghetti serving, though. In part, because the serving was HUGE. And, in part because the sauce was much heavier than I was expecting. The red sauce from the chicken cut it nicely, though. If I were to ever order just a plate of spaghetti here, I could see doing half white sauce and half marinara for a nice blend. I ordered the honey-mustard dressing with my salad. The server did specifically mention, twice, that this was a "vinaigrette," so I knew not to expect a standard honey-mustard dressing. But, it was too sweet for my liking -- too much honey and not enough mustard, I guess. My husband was drinking Diet Coke. After his first refill, they went ahead and just brought him a half carafe so he could refill his own. I thought that was pretty cool. My wine was fine; I ordered an Oregon Pinot Noir. At $6/glass (as were all the reds), it was not ridiculously overpriced, but, I think a $4-5/glass quaffable "house" red would be a nice addition that would fit the mood of the place. We liked that the Old Spaghetti Warehouse offered multiple dessert options and both went for the burnt cream. The Old Spaghetti Warehouse offers up VERY generous servings of decent food and very reasonable prices. I'm glad we stopped in (and, if I were to ever be back in Salem, I would do so again).

ok, I have given them several tries to get the food right while my husband who is taste-bud challenged, likes the spaghetti and meatballs. The place smells moldy upon entrance and my food has been iffy each time at best. I am not THAT picky.

My family has frequented the warehouse for many, many years. A couple of the waitresses recognize us and continue to offer great service. The new location seems more manageable for them, and the food has always been the same in terms of quality, portion-size, and offerings. It's nice to know exactly what you want and what you're going to get. They could benefit from an updated menu but we've never had any complaints. The best place in Salem to take a family for a generous and yummy Italian dinner with friendly service.

Reviews for this place seem to be all over the board. I can say that we went there on a Sunday night after a movie. We were seated promptly, Drinks were brought with speed, and the bread was fresh and warm. That sort of outlines the problems people have had with this place. The decor was indeed 'kitsch', and the table we sat at was wobbly, but that added to the 'old world' charm of the place. My partner had a half order of lasagna and a half order of the linguine with clam sauce. He reported that both were VERY good. My other dining companion had the cajun chicken pasta. He reported that it was just hte right amount of spice and was well done. I had the classic spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were burned a bit, but otherwise fine. The price point was okay. A great place with a decent menu.

Had to try out the new location since they moved. The new location is very nice but the food is still the same. Sorry, but can't help but think of it as a strange copy of teh Spaghetti Warehouse. I ordered the managers special with mizithra and clam sauce. Not as flavorful as I hoped. The bread was & spumoni ice cream was good. The staff was very friendly.

There are so many kinds of pasta out there that most folks are already confused with picking just one, but none other is more famous than spaghetti, which is glamorized here at the Old Spaghetti Warehouse. Available are many different kinds of sauces in various inexpensive prices coupled with very good and consistent service. This place is great for children, who can enjoy a decent meal in a family oriented atmosphere. But, I didn't say the food was all that great. A step below Olive Garden for franchised food chains, it's still not a place I'd go out of my way to eat often. I wish Salem had more Italian choices, without this being one of them.

Disappointed and overpriced are the 2 words that come to mind..... I took my wife there yesterday for our 31st wedding anniversary and boy, were we disappointed. My wife ordered the 1/2 lasagna and 1/2 spaghetti and I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs and a side of sausage. All the dishes were pre-made and then warmed up. The spaghetti on both plates was not cooked al dente, like we requested and the meatballs were mushy and tasteless. The sausage was not fully cooked and was obviously frozen, not fresh. Also, the price of the 2 dishes was right around $12 each and neither of us got anywhere near a 1/2 pound of pasta, COMBINED. Pasta folks, is not that expensive. We left hungry and very dissatisfied. The ambiance is charming and the staff was friendly and engaging. Too bad the food didn't match the decor. From one fellow "paesano" to another, if it's good old fashion pasta you are after, there are several other Italian joints in town that are way better.......

My four friends and I stumbled upon this restaurant while Googling "fancy" restaurants in downtown Salem. Turned out we were only a block away from this one, and spaghetti sounded good, so we walked over. It took us five minutes to get seated. There was no one up front when we entered, and when one of the girls took a quick walk around to find the hostess, there was no one in sight. Another couple came in a little while later and the hostess finally showed up. There weren't very many people in the dining area. It was a very quiet night. My friends tend to be on the louder side sometimes, so the silence made the whole setting very awkward. The only music that was playing was 90s Rap - and that was in the kitchen. One of the girls in our group is gluten free. She ordered the gluten-free pasta, and was quickly informed that they were out. She ordered soup and Caesar salad instead, specifically asking for the croutons to be left off, to which the waitress said "Of course!" When our food was brought out, there were croutons all over the salad. The bread was the only thing I really enjoyed. I'm a picky eater in that I only like eating good quality food. The Caesar dressing tasted a little rancid. My spaghetti noodles were dry and the clam sauce wasn't mixed properly - there were a lot of clumps in it that weren't clams. I didn't finish any of my meal. I would have complained about the food, but there wasn't anybody to complain to! The waitress only showed up when we were ordering food - the rest of the time we hardly saw her. It was such a slow night, though, what else did she have going on that she couldn't have come back to refill our drinks just once?! I am confident that, if we were those kind of people, we could have dined and dashed and no one would have even noticed. That is how bad the service was. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

We haven't been to the Old Spaghetti Warehouse since it moved. Food is still great but the service was very slow and they've cut back on the portions. They've also raised the prices a bit. Waitress was very friendly and attentive.

On our vacation and stopped here to have dinner. Very nice, clean inside and great music playing. Amber was our server. Very nice and great to talk with. When you come ask to have her serve you. Tell her Bill sent you. Now for the food, I had the Spaghetti & meet balls. Wow, the portion was big. Very testy and hot. If I'm ever back this way I am coming back.

Every once in a while I'll try to give a place the benefit of the doubt and look past all of its negative yelp reviews. Please don't make the same mistake I did, not at this restaurant. We got to the restaurant around 7 pm. normal dinner time. We could see past the cashier that there were plenty of customers, but they weren't *packed*. We could also see about 5 or so waiters, around the place. We stood there for a while without being greeted, and eventually one of the departing customers pointed us out to the woman working up front. Her response was "Yeah, it'll just be a bit, we're clearing tables off." A solid 10 minutes later we walk by at least 5 empty tables as we're led to our own. Hmmm. We were taken care of decently at the beginning of the meal, and until our food was brought. In the meantime, a giant clan of people had gone past our table toward a reserved space for a party. Dessert was apparently included in the meal, so I was already looking forward to it. Fifteen minutes after we finished eating, with our waitress nowhere to be found, we helped ourselves to some empty to-go boxes that were sitting on the counter. I really wanted the dessert I'd already paid for so I held out a little while longer. Nope. Still no waitress. Frustrated and upset, we grabbed our things and went up to the lady at the front. I told her the situation, "Hi I think we're ready to leave. We had to get our own boxes and then were never told about the dessert options we'd ALREADY PAID FOR." "Are you serious?" "-__-" "Oh, I'm sorry. I think your waitress is helping the big group we have. I can bring you dessert right now if you'd like?" "No, it's time for us to leave." And that's the story of the only time in recent memory I didn't leave a tip at least 20%. In fact, I honestly wish I hadn't left a tip. The dinner was good, but I don't know what the hell they have going on behind the scenes that makes things so difficult. If you can't help your standard customers, what makes you think you can help a party? It doesn't add up. Will not be going back. If you do decide to go though, tell them they owe you my dessert.

By far the worst Italian food I've ever eaten. I felt like we were on the show kitchen nightmare. My husband got the half spaghetti/half lasagna. The lasagna was microwaved and stuck to the bottom of the dish. The noodles were overcooked and the white mushroom sauce tasted like it was out of a can. I got fettuccine alfredo. How can you screw that up? Yup the penne pasta was soggy and once again the sauce tasted like canned sauce. The service was not good and the bright lights made you feel like you were in an asylum. We definetely will never ever be back and we recommend our friends don't go there either!

I can't say I am a real big fan of spaghetti - however, their mushroom white sauce was pretty tasty and enjoyable. It seemed well flavored, just enough mushrooms and the right amount of sauce on the spaghetti. I ordered the 1/2 lasagna and 1/2 spaghetti - dinner style for $12.95. The minestrone soup had a delectable flavor, mellow and not too overwhelming with veggies or tomatoes. The bread was good to start and their garlic butter is nice! The lasagna had good flavor and I enjoyed it. Our server was great and they were great about seating us away from kids, as we requested. It was enjoyable and they had live music which was wonderful piano. Everything was enjoyable - but finding the bathroom was a little maze... The decor is a little strange and maybe offering a daily special would jazz this joint up. They really should reassemble seating in their front window - as passerby's do look in and it appears pretty empty. The experience was good, food 3 stars really and atmosphere a 3ish. The booths looked uncomfortable and furnishings felt like an antique store treasure. It was nice they include a small dessert with the dinner option. I'll likely return, not for a date night but maybe with coworkers kind of thing.

This place is great! Love their spaghetti and meatballs. I also enjoyed the fresh croutons on my salad. My dish came with a dessert, I really enjoyed their creme brûlée - so much that I wanted to lick the dish. We'll definitely be back. Our waitress was really sweet, perhaps she was new, but nothing like what previous reviews have mentioned about the service.

Hadn't been to Spaghetti Warehouse in years! In fact it's probably been at least 10 years. Husband and I were craving some inexpensive spaghetti and meatballs, but didn't want to go to Olive Garden. For some reason I mentioned this place and we agreed to go. Both ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Tasted great! Came with a salad, bread and dessert for $12.95. We opted for the Caesar Salads for $1 more. My husband enjoyed it, I think it was a little overdressed. Still yummy. Nothing fancy and the service was a little spotty, but nice. I would go back in a heartbeat.

This place is great. We have come here twice with our large church group to eat after service and both times the staff have been very friendly and accommodating even for our large group of about 15 people. The food is always delicious and very affordable for the full meal you get with bread and salad or soup. The waitresses have always been attentive and keep the bread coming before the meal. I would highly recommend the Clam sauce for Spaghetti and the Cajun Fettuccine. So good! The Portabello Mushroom soup is great as well. This may be our new favorite Italian restaurant in Salem. Thank you for the great food and service!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This place does NOT care about its customers. I would give this place a half star if I could. Here's the scoop: We went here , given, on a Friday night but they weren't terribly busy when we walked in, but definitely reasonably staffed from the number of servers I could count. So, it took a reasonable amount of time to have our waiter serve us, but he was still initially attentive. 3 dinners, 3 drinks including 1 beer. Once our food came, everything tasted fine...mine was a little salty for my taste but still OK. Our waiter attended to us again, we asked for a couple waters (our drinks had run out by this point) and more bread, and then we waited...and waited...and waited. We repeatedly saw the waiter walk by several times, halfway across the restaurant and never bother to blink an eye our way...meanwhile, we had finished half of our dinners with no bread and nothing to drink at this point. At this point, one of us decided to go to the front and ask for service to get a water, because being ignored is simply unacceptable. The manager explained that they had a large party just come in that they had to pull our waiter over to, but would send someone over to assist our table. Eventually, we did have someone attend to us and she apologized again, explaining the large party situation...however, a person in my party explained that regardless of a large party, its not acceptable to be ignored and our needs being disregarded (i.e. no drinks, etc). We asked to speak with the manager to inform her of such, and were told shortly thereafter that she was "attending to a banquet upstairs but would be down in a few short minutes" to speak with us. Again, we waited, saw the manager come and go, barely acknowledging us once again, but clearly couldn't have cared less. So we gave up, went to the front to pay, and explained that we didn't appreciate being ignored, especially now by the manager who we asked to speak to about the above and give "one more chance", otherwise the bad review was coming. We received a very short, snotty response by the female waitress who deliberately lied and stated that the manager was upstairs, "busy attending to the banquet party right now", even though we had walked RIGHT by her when we went to the front. My companion did call her out on this and telling her that the manager was actually standing right next to the bar and obviously didn't care what we had to say. The person that checked us out proceeded to ring us up, THEN go get the manager of which we were then told "she says she's busy so go ahead and Yelp us then". No. Joke. Well, that's exactly what you'll get then. The food was just OK but definitely nothing to write home about...and the service spoke for itself. They clearly care more about the 20+ person party spending their money then to attend to or care about a small family of 3. All we asked for was attentive service, and clearly they couldn't provide even that. Sad, because they used to be ALOT better than this. Definitely WON'T be back...

I would love to eat out at this place more because their food is very good but it is just not worth it because the service is so bad. I went there on 3 separate occasions just in case I caught them on a bad day, and the service was terrible every time. We always had to wait for a very long time for our waitress to come to our table to take our drink orders, bring us our food, boxes and check. On one occasion our waitress only came to our table three times, to take our order, bring us our food (and 35 minuets after we finished our meal) bring us our check. Never checked on us once and we had to ask her for the check and boxes for our leftovers. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. Another time we went up to the register to split our check and the lady behind the counter said she didn't have a calculator to figure out how much it would be so she had me use the one on my phone and asked if she could use it for the people behind us in line as well. They are not very professional and obviously do not care about their customers. Sadly I will not be coming back a fourth time to be ignored.

What a great value. I loved the caesar salad as the dressing is slightly spicy. I asked if they made it and they do. The waitress gave me some to take home. My husband loved the spicy black bean soup and spaghetti too. Our bill was more than reasonable and the dinners come with desert. We were too full for that both times that we visited! They offered to box it to go but we were already on carb overload. The service was great too, Strange atmosphere, but who cares when the food is good and the price is right!

The food was decent at most but absolutely not worth the $12.75. The service was absolutely horrible! At one point I saw 4 servers just standing around talking while we just sat there wondering where are food was. I had the cajan fettuccine and it was alright but was dry and needed the extra sauce that they had available for $2.00. Then to top it off at the end the waitress brought our check and ANOTHER tables check and left it there. We had to flag her down because she also didn't even offer us the desert that came with the meal, and when we asked she seemed shocked and asked if we wanted it... It was one of the worst restaurant experiences that I've ever had that I HAD to post a review!

My experience here was good. I went here for my mother inlaws birthday. We really enjoyed the piano player. The server was nice & helpful. We all enjoyed our food, no complaints. I got the dinner lasagna, my daughter got the mac n cheese and my boyfriend got the personal pizza. I thought it was a bit spendy for something so mediocre, especially the desserts. Eating out: This place is good but I don't think it would be my first choice.

I've read many of those negative reviews and I can tell you these are not the real Spaghetti Warehouse! Maybe they had one bad moment. but I and my friends had a fabulous meal, and excellent service this past weekend. Our server was exceptional, attentive, professional and very friendly. The food was very good, and very affordable. The Creme Brulee was exceptional. I loved the decor because I like old wood and vintage furniture. Great place for families because of layout and the price of the food. There were five of us, all over 60, and we felt very comfortable and loved the place. The bathrooms while clean, could use a coat of paint on the walls, but that's all..I suggest you check this place out and make up your own mind. All five of us in my party agreed we will be back!

They're alright, I suppose. Went by myself one evening. Took almost 20 minutes before I got a server. But I stuck around and was fairly glad I did. Sourdough was excellent. Minestrone decent. Cajun fettucine actually not bad- wouldn't call it the best I've ever had but for the price, it made a good meal and there was enough for leftovers. I've had better creme brulee but considering it was complimentary, I'm not complaining. Got all that for about 13 bucks. I don't know if I would make a special trip back but should I be dragged along, I wouldn't be complaining.

Best place to eat in town hands down! It's very affordable for a family dinner night, or just a date. Service is always great! She was tall, blonde funny, and outgoing. She was on top of everything and got refills right away. The food didn't take long at all. I love the bread and garlic butter they have. It's to die for! Although they do need better sharp knives I will still manage. I get the spaghetti and meatballs every time and so does my daughter. So delicious! Definitely will be back like always.

Cajun chicken fetucini or however you call it... Awesome. Fireworks of flavor with the sautee'd mushrooms and onions smothered in some cajun seasoning. I know is my wife spent more time digging in my plate than hers even though she loved hers as well. Haha. Great style and yeah it says right there in the menu that they prepare to order so be prepared to wait 20 minutes. Well worth it and apparently they have entertainment on tuesdays. Great value and great food.

We were a table of 12 very hungry people. Service was excellent! Decor warm and inviting. Several of us halved our dinner choices with Vegetarian Lasagna and a simple brown buttered sauce for the second pasta choice. Everything was "Okay" except for the browned butter sauce. As Mr. Picky is an excellent chef himself, he and two others (myself included) returned ours to the kitchen trying to rid ourselves of the nasty-greasy-oily taste from the so-called brown butter sauce. There's no butter in this offensive sauce. So, once that was cleared up and removed from our table, we could at least carry on with the second portion (albeit a small portion) we had ordered. Mine was the Vegetarian Lasagna. It was so good, I wish I had have just ordered it alone. Although we who had the Veggie Lasagna, Mr. Picky and I both walked away poorer, still hungry and disappointed. So, shall we give them a second chance at redemption? I doubt it. Our visits to Salem are but once a year and we ate at other restaurants during our 3 days. Should we find ourselves there by some "Unforeseen Circumstance" I would stick with the Veggie Lasagna which is recommended by Picky Picky People.

Food is cheap but forgettable. There was nothing wrong with our food, it tasted fine, but I could make the same pasta dishes at home (and better). This is barely on par with the Olive Garden. Gamberetti's is more expensive but much better. This would be a good place to take kids out to eat since it's very affordable and seemed family friendly.

A lot of the reviews seem to have very high expectations for a restaurant who's name contains the words 'old' and 'warehouse'. Add to that the rightful adjective 'cheap' and you should have your expectations set about right. A full dinner, with sourdough bread, garlic butter, soup or salad, entree, and desert for about $12 is way more than reasonable. The bread is tasty, and the garlic butter an excellent match to the bread. The salad was well chilled and topped with scallions, savory croutons, and tiny tomatoes. The menu is reasonably wide-ranging. We had the spaghetti and meatballs and Cajun chicken fettuccine. Both were tasty, filling and comforting. For dessert we had spumoni and bread pudding -- both nice compliments to the dinner. We dined a little early on a Thursday night. The service was quick and friendly, and the food started arriving almost as soon as our order went in. The decor is well suited to 'old' and 'warehouse' -- in a good way, Lots of wood and exposed brick, high ceiling, antique knick-knacks, and ceiling fans. Don't expect a transcendent dining experience -- do expect a tasty an inexpensive full meal. I enjoyed my dinner and I will return.

What a wonderful dining experience I had. Cozy, retro decor. Excellent service, food,e and value. Homemade garlic bread. Hmmmm.long The best Caesar salad I've had in a long time, and lovely and perfectly cooked chicken parmigian in red sauce. A side of delicious spaghetti with white clam sauce. Oh, and a complimentary bowl of spumoni. All this, for $15.00. Yup, I will be back

Recently visited this place with my family and we all LOVED it. The architectural history alone behind this place is amazing. The very nice hostess informed us it was Built in 1864 and still has the original flooring , wow! The atmosphere and decor is friendly and inviting, as is the staff. We ordered the kids fettuccini Alfredo, I got the Cajun, my wife selected the 1/2calzone 1/2spaghetti. These portions are HUGE and delicious! The Cajun had the perfect blend of spices that danced with the savory chicken and was enough for two people! The 1/2 calzone was the size of a regular calzone anywhere else and still comes with an order of spaghetti! We knew right away to-go boxes were in our near future. 5 stars for the friendly staff, amazing atmosphere and wonderful food. I will definitely be back.

A nice place to go and relax with family and friends and eat more pasta than you should. Husband get's the 1/2 Lasagna and 1/2 spag with meat sauce. Always fills him up. I get the Veggie Lasagna and can't finish it its so filling. Kids get the Chicken Fettucine Alfredo and waddle to the car.

I remember this place from when I was a kid. The menu brought back great memories. The first time we went I ordered two sauces for my spaghetti. I was hungrily anticipating the mushroom sauce and the clam sauce. Unfortunately they only gave me one sauce. It wasn't enough to complain about. The second time we went my husband ordered chicken parmigiana. Talk about disappointment when he received his meal. In his words he looked down and saw a handful of chicken nuggets with red sauce on it, and a spoonful of spaghetti. One note - the Spumoni ice cream is exactly how I remembered it. All in all it is ok. Does not live up to my childhood memories, but it beats chain Italian restaurants.

Had dinner there last night, I had Chicken Parmigiana with spaghetti. It was good and the minestrone soup was excellent. Creme Brule was ok. My issue was the slow service. We had to ask for refills on our pop after 15 minutes of needing them. Slow at removing dirty dishes also. But the bill was quick to come. Will go back but hope for better service.

Yum and Yum! I got the two sauce option - brown butter and cheese with meat sauce. The perfect combo! I love the complete meal with the sourdough bread (with garlic butter), salad (or soup), the entrée and ice cream or crème brule for dessert. Prices can't be beat and I never walk away hungry :)

Both DH and I had the Spaghetti and Meatballs lunch. It came with 2 large meatballs, and the sauce was great, too! DH also had a bowl of black bean soup with sour cream. The lunch came with a hot loaf of sour dough bread and whipped butter infused with chives & garlic (I thought we were supposed to have buttered garlic bread).. I had a salad with oil and balsamic vinegar on the side with croutons The taste of everything was wonderful. DH actually ate every bite - more than he usually does for lunch, but everything was so good he that couldn't stop eating. The service was very good. The ambiance of the restaurant is pretty good, although the restrooms are in need of a remodel, also I didn't like the strong odor of the cleanser they used. Now, DH enjoyed his meal, but unfortunately something didn't agree with him and so he continued to enjoy his meal for many hours, even after taking TUMS. My doggie bag from my spaghetti, tasted better the 2nd day around! The Italian music playing in the background, reminds me of music mom used to sing to me. I had to ask what was the name of the song, and the hostess told me "Dinner in Italy" CD, but it was an oldie for sure! Even our waitress, smiled @ us. We'll definitely come back here again!

Every time we visit the Old Spaghetti Warehouse, we are greeted at the front door with a smile. They are very friendly and we are promptly seated. Shortly thereafter, we receive a large chunk of a loaf of sourdough bread, piping hot on a wooden bread board with a serrated knife for slicing. Alongside is a generous portion of garlic butter. Yum! On this particular visit, I ordered the meatball sandwich with minestrone for lunch. The minestrone was brought out first and it was delicious, as always. A little while later, I received my sandwich. Wow. It was served on ciabatta bread with 4 large meatballs and plenty of sauce and cheese. There is only one meatball sandwich that has ever topped this one, but that one is made by my Italian wife with her Sicilian Grandmother's sauce and meatball recipe. As far as restaurant's go, you won't find a better meatball sandwich than at the Old Spaghetti Warehouse.

For a 2 second review see bottom section. First time walking in the hostess dropped like 50 menu's on the ground and just left them while she seated us, seemed kind of funny, but indicated the tone of the service we would receive throughout our experience. We sat in a booth that was VERY uncomfortable, the back was bowed out and pushing me forward. When we got our sourdough bread it came in the shape of 2 balls and garlic butter. It was pretty good but the knives SUCK. I couldn't even cut that thing with the serrated knife that accompanied it. I ended up just ripping it apart with my hands which was kind of awkward rubbing my hands all over the bread before passing it to the next person, no I didn't wash my hands before dinner ;) I ordered the 2 sauce spaghetti ($10.40) with the "meat" and a "cauliflower and broccoli" which was a white base and filled with cauliflower and a hint of broccoli, it was actually pretty good. The noodles were cooked very well also -- perfectly al dente. Wife ordered the half calzone, half spaghetti ($12.25). She ordered the browned butter sauce with some sort of cheese on it. This was actually very disappointing from the awesome description. It just tasted like some noodles with oil drizzled over them and not much flavor. I sampled her calzone, now this I would HIGHLY recommend. It was filled mushrooms, sausage, cheese, and sauce -- it tasted great. Each meal was accompanied with a salad that I would rank about a B+ with some tasty bagged croutons and a dessert choice of either Italian burnt cream, bread pudding or ice cream. We opted for the Italian burnt cream and bread pudding. The Italian burnt cream is really just Crème Brule and tasted pretty good, had a nice top to it. The bread pudding was more of a MEH dessert. I feel like I could have ordered it at Safeway and popped it into the mike for a few minutes and had roughly the same quality. My friend was disappointed however because he was lactose intolerant and couldn't even try any of the desserts so he had to just get his ale carte without the salad and dessert. The reason I rank this place at a 4 instead of a 5 since I really liked their food was the S****y service. I am a very patient guy but this place was so over the top. I was out of water for so long without a refill and the table next to me actually got out of their booth and went to the bar to order. Watching them break their necks for a server was entertaining though. Asking for a to-go box was almost like pulling teeth. All in all, calzone is awesome, spaghetti was pretty good, booths suck, servers seem to disappear into the back often and no lactose intolerant dessert choices that come with your meal. Would I come back? yes, but expecting slow service.

Waited 15 minutes before I got up to tell the hostess we needed a waitress. Then about 5 minutes later one came to out table. I let her know we had been waiting and she gave an off handed, "oh sorry". The table next to us hadn't been bused during the time we have been waiting and the restaurant is near empty. Drinks just arrived and I'm hoping the food is better than the service.

Caught this place mid-week in the summer. The hostess must have been out because the young (he looked 12) man who showed us to our table must have been the dishwasher filling in and neglected to tell the waitstaff we were seated. Once that all got straightened out things were great. It's spaghetti, o.k.? Great sourdough bread that spoke fluent garlic, pasta with meat sauce for one of us and upon the yelper recs I tried the white sauce with mushrooms.. Wasn't the best, but it was good enough that I stuffed all of it in my spaghetti hole and finished off with just the right tiny size of a great creme brule. Added to that was a live piano man, singing Billy Joel-esque songs right up our alley but we couldn't sing with our mouths full and just had to listen (a little loud for out liking but still worth his weight in live music) Dropped him a five on the way out. Didn't expect this out of Salem, OR.

This place has wonderful food, a welcoming atmosphere and horrible service. If you are feeling patient its worth dealing with getting your entree before your drinks and not getting your salad at all. The chicken parmesan with the browned butter and cheese is phenomenal. They have a decent wine list but don't expect your server to be knowledgeable about the wine.

My husband and I have driven by The Old Spaghetti Warehouse more than a dozen times but we never had eaten there until a few days ago. Oh man we have been missing out on some great hearty Italian food. We were seated promptly by a nice hostess and our server Leann come out right away and took our drink order. She brought us our drinks and helped us pick off of their delicious menu. My husband got to try all the special sauces for the spaghetti and they were all delicious. His favorite was the cheese and brown butter, mine is the white mushroom sauce. I had the half lasagna, half spaghetti with meat sauce, which was mesmerizing. We had their Caesar salad also with our meal and found out they make the dressing there. YUM!! So if you want great Italian food go visit The Old Spaghetti Warehouse.

Absolutely wonderful hospitality here at The Old Spaghetti Warehouse!! Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with our many questions because we had never visited before. We got the spaghetti, lasagna (which I highly recommend) and fettechini alfredo. The fettechini alfredo was a lil disappointing because it lacked the proper amount of cheese, garlic and pepper but I was able to save the dish by asking for sides of the items. The courtesy bread they give you is SUPER tough so be sure to ask for a sharp knife and the dinner salad was good. I especially recommend the dessert creme brulee, it was something to be remembered! We'll be back again but I'll be sure to let the cook know that the fettechini alfredo needs a lil work-

Love the food here....have eaten here many times...however, last month we went in with a group of 7 and the hostess was down right rude. We got seated and waited 20 minutes...no water, no waitress...as we walked out I heard one waitress say "Who's table was that?" Bummer...I was looking forward to the food :(

Unfortunately I have to say things have gone down hill..... The wait staff needs more professionalism and what use to be considered a high end, romantic Italian has turned into a tacky spaghetti bar, sad but I kinda miss the old location at this point

The lasagna a spaghetti meal was delicious and the service was great. We almost didn't come in for lunch due to the negative reviews. We were glad we did, thanks Katie

We didn't have a positive experience. I definitely will not be back to this place. If you're from other parts and have ever been to the "Old Spaghetti Factory" - this is essentially the same menu only poorly executed. I ordered the brown butter and cheese spaghetti. It was an oily, greasey, gross mess. Yuck! My fiance ordered the chicken Parmesan. The spaghetti with red sauce was decent but the chicken was the size of chicken nuggets. Just kind of grouped together on the plate. I've never seen anything like it... We waited at the front for several minutes before someone came over to seat us. They didn't seem particularly busy and the staff were talking amongst themselves or checking their phone even after seeing us walk in. The young waiter was very nice and accommodating. He was the only decent part about this place. Overall, not a positive experience. I think there is a market for a family friendly place like this, but I don't see why anyone would pay money for this food... If you do find yourself here, order the spaghetti with red sauce.

I thought this place would be similar to the Old Spaghetti Factory...... but make no mistake, its not even close. The food was very bland. Its not very easy to screw up spaghetti, bit these guys found a way to do it....

From one fellow "paesano" to another, if it's good old fashion pasta you are after, there are several other Italian joints in town that are way better.......

ok, I have given them several tries to get the food right while my husband who is taste-bud challenged, likes the spaghetti and meatballs. The place smells moldy upon entrance and my food has been iffy each time at best. I am not THAT picky.

We haven't been to the Old Spaghetti Warehouse since it moved. Food is still great but the service was very slow and they've cut back on the portions. They've also raised the prices a bit. Waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Yum and Yum! I got the two sauce option - brown butter and cheese with meat sauce. The perfect combo!

From one fellow "paesano" to another, if it's good old fashion pasta you are after, there are several other Italian joints in town that are way better.......

ok, I have given them several tries to get the food right while my husband who is taste-bud challenged, likes the spaghetti and meatballs. The place smells moldy upon entrance and my food has been iffy each time at best. I am not THAT picky.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
