Coming from Los Angeles, this place was just okay. Nice restaurant, brightly lit, with tables comfortably separated. Service was good. The food was just okay. The lemon-grass chicken was smothered in peanut sauce. Quite tasty, but I'm not used to peanut sauce on lemon-grass chicken. Kinda masked the lemon-grass flavor. Discovered that this is not an unusual practice in Oregon. Saw the same thing in another Thai restaurant in Portland. The chicken sate was quite good. The curry was okay, as was the pad thai.

Really, really great pad thai. Sauce is divinely, spicey. Have not had pad thai this spicey without having to add Sriracha first. Tofu with brocoli = yum. Their tofu is solid enough to put a fork through it without "falling apart". Definitely a notable dish. Their thai iced tea is great and is on the sweeter side. Although, it's usually served sweet. Some places serve it with less cream, which I prefer since it makes it stronger. Give this place a go!

So yummy! The Sukiyaki soup was spicy and very good! Pot stickers were perfect!

This is the best Thai food I've had in Salem. Staff is friendly, food comes quick, and it is kid-friendly. I have worked my way through most of the menu in the two years I've lived here and the various dishes are consistently good. My favorites are evil jungle noodles, pineapple fried rice, and paneng curry. Sweet sticky rice with mango is tasty as well.

I enjoyed the food! Super fast when ordering in or out. Price a lil high but all in happy and full!

This place is way better than the one in Lancaster by shopko. Customer service is way better! Food was better too. I had a lunch special? The soup was weird tasting. Lot cleaner! Bathroom was clean. The plates were clean. water didnt have anything in it. The parking is kind of strange, and location is harder to access. It is on the corner of an intersection. maybe I will come again.

I love Thai Beer, it's my goto Thai food place. The service is good and fast; I've never had anyone forget my order and-- did I mention? The food is pretty darn good. They do to-go orders which is convenient for lunches, because their two restaurant locations can be at a distance from work locations. They know what "hot" is.

Very nice staff, generous portions, and awesome flavors. Try the brown rice with the curry!!

I can't really say more than average. If I had a sudden craving for Thai and this was the closest and quickest place, I'd settle for this.

The building and atmosphere is a total dive, so I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste of the food. The bathrooms smelled bad, the radio was playing country music, and I didn't see a Thai person in the place, but the food... Oh man. I'll be eating here again... Although maybe to-go next time.

My husband had his mouth ready for some hot stuff when we arrived in Salem a little over a week ago. We went straight to our usual place, Gilgamesh, for their five-alarm mac and cheese, only to discover that they've removed it from the menu. Boo! The hub, my mom, and I decided on Thai Beer as our alternative. I'm so glad we did! The service was outstanding - our server was friendly and attentive. I made some silly little comment to the lady about their wontons, which are just fried dough, and amazingly enough, she remembered talking to me on the phone a month back when I placed a to-go order. She talked to us about how spicy we liked our food and talked to my husband about ghost chilies, which he has yet to try. I love the friendly people in Salem! The food was amazing, even better than the takeout we've ordered a couple of times. We got the pot stickers as an appetizer; they are pretty much what you'd expect, and while they're not my favorite appetizer, my mom and the hub both liked them. Mom and I shared the lunch portion of the Pad Cashew Nut with chicken (our usual). The hub got the Red Curry with beef ("as hot as you can make it", was his comment) and he was not disappointed. Everything was hot and flavorful when it arrived at the table shortly after ordering. Portion sizes are good for lunch - mom and I had plenty even though we shared. They had a good selection of beer and wine. The price was very reasonable, likely half what we would have spent at Gilgamesh (we are big drinkers). My only suggestion to the restaurant owners/managers would be to update the place a little. The age of the building is really showing, and the décor looks a little unkempt (some might say a lot unkempt). Something like this would prevent me from giving a five-star rating, if the food wasn't so damn good. We'll be back next time we're in town.

Food was tasty and all ingredients looked and tasted fresh. Service was prompt and friendly.

Dreadful! Food was poorly seasoned. Bland. Vegetables scarce and overcooked. We just got takeout, but interior of restaurant is in sad shape. If you want good tai food you are going to have to drive over the bridge.

I can't believe people think this is good. I tried the place twice just to be sure (I love Thai food). The WORST curry I have ever experienced. Totally watered down and bland.
(1)Alece W.
This is one of my favorite restaurants it is always fresh and the smell of delicious food welcomes you when you enter. I love how friendly the staff is every time also. I have tried many dishes and loved almost all of them. They have fabulous suggestions also. If you order to go it's fast and just as fresh.

I've been in here once for lunch. Service was good, portions were huge. My leftovers were enough for Dinner.

This is the first Thai restaurant I have tried in Salem, and I loved it! It tastes like Thai food should taste, and there is Thai beer, of course! (Plus a full bar!) I will respond to the review of "poor service" in saying that since I moved to Salem three months ago, I have not seen attentive service once. Not once. Nowhere. Even the bars I regularly go it (where I've even been told my meager tips are more than anyone else chips in) I have to wait around because the service industry out here doesn't have a clue. What I"m saying is, if a service industry person ignores you in Salem, SPEAK UP. No one gives a crap about service here.

Love the food. Best Thai food around. I have been to most of the Thai restaurants around Salem and this place is my favorite.

Usually pretty decent food and great portions. But... on sunday night my wife and I were in need of hot food. When we arrived we were greeted nicely, and were asked "do you guys want to sit on the cold side or the warmer side?" We did think it was a little cold but were hungry. So obviously we picked the warm side. All the tables on the "warm side" were dirty and there was nobody else in there? We were sat in a booth with a portible heater inches away. Thank god for this heater it made the experience a little more bearable, we still ate with our jackets on though. When the food came it was hot but the plates were ice cold? So needless to say in a matter of about 2-3 minutes all of our food was ice cold like the restaurant. At this point we just started shoveling our food so we could leave to get warm. I asked for the check, which was promptly produced I walked to the counter to settle our bill and to my complete amazement...... these people had a propane heater going behind the counter. I was appalled! ! We had both been breathing carbon monoxide fumes! Not that this was just morally wrong but against marion county health department rules as well as rules with the fire marshal. My wife and I will never go back and would highly caution anyone else eating there.

First time here. Had heard from a relative that it was good, but I believe they go to another location across town. Anyway, walked in and I agree with others who say atmosphere needs work...it smelled like an old house, and just looked old. There were no other patrons-- although it was between lunch and dinner. A woman gave us menus and we ordered two entrees and an order of fresh salad rolls to go. She was friendly but seemed a little off-put when we asked questions. Prices were average. Food came out quickly and we left. This was definitely not the best Thai I've had, unfortunately. Salad rolls were good sized but were full of mostly lettuce..and one tiny piece of tofu. Very little flavor, peanut sauce was just so-so. I had ordered drunken noodles...they were ok...chicken tasted good but the rest...hard to explain..like the oil used to stir fry wasnt fresh or the grill wasnt clean...very few veggies...usually this dish is one of my favorites..it was all right but not great. My friend got a beef/veggie stir fry which was better than mine and she liked it...overall just underwhelmed. Cant say I will return.

As a vegetarian, it's good to see a place in Salem that offers options for me. However, I was kind of underwhelmed at the flavor of the food. There didn't seem to be enough seasoning. I got the Thai Beer noodle special with tofu and the peanut sauce was WAY too sweet for my taste. I prefer a little heat. However, the veggies seemed to be nice and fresh. This place isn't bad...just nothing out of this world.
(3)Sarah B.
Great thai food, always fresh and good value. The portions are pretty big, a real bang for your buck. The thai tea and coffee are pretty tasty as well. The Jungle Noodles are my favorite but the Papaya Salad and Chicken Satay are top of my list also. Would give 5 stars but the atmosphere needs work (decor is too outdated/casual) and the peanut sauce is too thick for my taste. It ends up literally tasting like peanut butter on top of your meal. It overwhelms everything.
(4)Gerald B.
Nice place! Clean, well lit, tastefully decorated... friendly waitress, kept my beverage full... The som tam was good. No shrimp but the portion was good and priced right. Tom yum goong 1/2 portion was very good. Sticky rice was perfect.. Food came fast... for my table and everyone else too. This is a solid restaurant - Good find. I'll be back.

Absolutely disgusted at the service here. Appalled really. Here's the lowdown: I was craving some pad see ew. I pass Thai Beer every day on my way across the bridge so I wanted some good thai food. I walked in after work one day, and literally was standing around for a solid couple of minutes. No one was there. It wasn't that busy either, two tables in the entire restaurant were occupied. I patiently waited (what is it with Thai restaurants being short-staffed?), checked in on yelp, etc. Then finally someone came out of the kitchen. She told me she would be right with me and then proceeded to go in and out of the kitchen a few more times, bringing out dishes for the people seated at tables. No big deal, right? Well soon I was waiting for over 5 minutes. Then a group of 5-6 people came in behind me and started waiting as well. When the one waitress came out of the kitchen again, she saw the group behind me, grabbed a handful of menus and immediately proceeded to seat the group behind me!! She literally walked right past me and asked the group how many was in their party before seating them. I had been waiting for quite a while at this point, and she even acknowledged me earlier so she knew I was waiting! I couldn't believe it, really. My only conclusion is that the larger party was more appealing than one person, so she proceeded to cater to their needs first. I was so insulted I just turned around and left. Tis a shame... I'm still craving pad see ew.

I am so happy that Thai Beer is in West Salem. The staff are helpful and the service fast. This is a handy place to go for lunch and for dinner. The service is so fast that I don't think it's even necessary to call ahead. I stop by for take-out a couple times a month. My favorite dish on the menu is pork and basil with onions and peppers. The pad thai is also good. My daughter likes their rice.
