One question: Where's the consistency in food quality? I've eaten here several times, but after my last dining experience (just this past Friday) I will not return. It's always hit and miss here. This last time started with the host refusing to allow my part of four to sit at a table meant for 6. His excuse was that they "might need that for a six top". Fine, whatever. My group made jokes about it for a while... until a party of 3 was seated at the same table. Hmmmm.... comment card started. So the meat. I usually order the filet because it's the most tender, least fatty, and most flavorful. This time, however, I was craving some chicken so I ordered (their famous) tri-tip bourbon and 1/2 chicken combo. My man ordered the same meal, and we were both served ridiculously fatty steaks. The fat lines ran throughout the meat and it was so terrible it was inedible. Since I'm no steak idiot I requested a new steak, explaining to the waitress that I've ordered this before and it was NOT like this. She brought me a sirloin 20 minutes later, explaining that the reason it took so long was because it was a thick piece. Really? I looked at it--it was a 1/2 inch thick at best, and it was so dry and tough it really didn't want to eat it. I didn't complain any further, but instead scribbled furiously on the comment card. The chicken was ok. Kind of dry. My broccoli side was overcooked. My mashed potatoes were weird and runny.... This is what I mean by the inconsistency. Sometimes it's really good (for a chain) but most of the time I leave wondering why I wasted my money.

In Salem you have two "Roadhouse" options, Original & Best. There is a reason the Best is called the best. It is the better of the two hands down. We received a gift card for this location so we decided to go. We thought, the food was similar, how could we go wrong. We went on a Wednesday and were at our table for 10 minutes (only 10 tables were full) before anyone acknowledged our presence no silverware, water, bread. A server finally came to the table next to ours and noticed we were ready to order. He informed us that he was not our server but it seemed that our server was off in lala land somewhere and he offered to take our order. Other than this server, all other service people were completely lackluster. It seemed that all of the employees with skill deficiencies were working that night. My husband ordered the Jim Bean Ribeye, which touts it's marinade. He was not sure that it had been marinaded at all as it was completely devoid of flavor save the salt & pepper. He was also happy to see a neon Blue Moon sign hanging next to the bar. When he requested this drink he was informed that they no longer served it but had replaced it with Hefeweizen. Really? I ordered the Whiskey River Salmon. The dish arrived and the glaze was an unappetizing brownish/grey color, meh. It also smelled of fish. The flavor was in line with the look/smell of the dish. All in all, we were happy that we didn't have to pay for this meal and we most certainly will not be returning. If you're ever trying to decide which Roadhouse to choose, go with "The Best Little Roadhouse" you will not be disappointed.

Chronically understaffed and slow. Not the fault of the server; she was working so hard waiting 10+ tables during lunch. If you're not in a hurry, stop in. The Tri-tip is fantastic and of course you have to scarf the rolls with honey butter!

Peanuts at the table. Shells on the floor. Good booze, served in mason jars. I had the Hillbilly Punch...which is just fun to say on top of being delicious and booze-filled (Peach Schapps, rum, Sprite and grenadine?). Wings were good. Carrot cake was the best I've ever had. Also served in small canning jars. Oh and the bread was SO DELICIOUS. They bring it out hot in a basket with honey butter. The buns are soft/hot enough to melt the butter and they're definitely the best rolls I've ever eaten. Not the best bread but the best rolls/buns I've ever had.

Have you ever walked into a restaurant, and known immediately that the manager was not doing his or her job? So it was with this road kill cafe. I can't say that the burgers we all had were inedible. I can say that they were barely edible. My real problem with this restaurant was the level of grime build up on all the surfaces. I can just imagine months of hurried clean-up by the crew, as they rush to get the hell out of there after their shifts. The grime was . . . well, everywhere. The wood partitions between booths were particularly bad, and when we complained to a watress that our fingers were sticking to the table top, she just quipped, " yeah, there's finger prints on all the tables, that's just how it is." It;s not that she was rude. She wasn't. She just reflected the attitude of the place. This was a filthy restaurant in need of upper management attention. I would never walk through those doors again, and it makes me think twice about other locations in this chain.

Had a really great experience last weekend here. First time, since we were camping nearby and needed to do some computing. The manager was very helpful in getting me set up. The Bloody Marys were excellent and the food was nice. Overall, it was a great experience, and we were even offered some peanuts to take back to camp. It's all about the PEOPLE, and the service we got last weekend was GREAT PEOPLE being GREAT. Thanks.

The only good things there were the meat and the peanuts. I sat at the bar, and not 30 seconds later had a tray of dirty dishes and half eaten food placed next to me. I ended up having an expired Id (by a few days) and my party was promptly removed from a the bar because I "could have taken it from an older brother". I understand that they have regulations to follow, so not too bad. Our wait staff took forever to bring me my chili (aka beans and red water), and the potatoes that came with the meal looked like they were from a kids plastic play set. The ceiling was all painted black, except for the the insolationt that was beginning to fall down. Very disappointed. A few years agoe this would have been a 4 star.

We enjoy coming here for dinner when we are in town. There is nothing fancy about this place, peanut shells on the ground, loud music. But the food is what brings us back. It's not fancy but its good. We came here on a friday night and were able to find a seat right away in the bar. We didn't order any drinks but still recieved excellent service (which is unusual). I ordered the tri tip and BBQ chicken combo and it was cooked perfect. But the best part about the food here is the sweet rolls with the honey butter. If you want a good steak at a decent price, this is the place to try

Came here for my mother's birthday. Got a burger but it wasn't anything special. The fries were greasy and cold. Didn't eat very much of them. Would rather go to many other places instead.

The food was what we expected from the chain and was good. But the real reason we are giving this 5 stars was the man who came around the restaurant blowing balloon characters. He was polite, professional and the most amazing balloon artist we have ever seen and we don't normally get too excited about balloons but this guy was fabulous. Our kids absolutely loved it. Also the service at the restaurant was very good especially considering how busy they were. Happy campers :)

I've eaten here twice in the last 12 months. Both times I was alone. And both times I got the distinct feeling that the wait staff really don't want to waste their time on a person dining alone. Maybe they see less opportunity for a good tip... I don't know. I will say the hot rolls they bring you as an appetizer are good. Hot and fresh with whipped honey butter. Trip #1... I had a bison steak. I'd never had bison before, but it was touted on their menu as naturally lean. I thought this was a good opportunity to try it. I ordered it with the baked sweet potato. The baked sweet potato was awesome. But the bison steak was horrible! It was at least 1/3 gristle and fat. Even with a $10 off coupon... I felt a bit ripped off. Trip #2... I was told my server was busy and the bus-person took my order. I ordered the bison chili burger. It came with fries. The fries were not fresh. The burger was unexceptional. Even with a $4 off coupon I felt like I didn't get very good value for my money. As I recall the times I've had chili burgers... they normally serve them open-faced with more chili than burger. In case you are thinking of ordering this... be aware this is not the case here. Although this didn't surprise me much as I had seen the picture on the menu. My advice... if you're going for a burger... drive just a few more blocks down the road and go to Five Guys. They are much better. As far as steaks... I think I can do better at home.

The food was 3 stars a-ok but the drinks! omg I am a fan, awesome 32 oz mason jars filled with delicious rum and peach schnapps something else was in it amaretto? I had the hill billy punch and man it was so delicious but I still got a strong buzz which is the most important part of any meal.

So the wife's been wanting to try this place, and tonight we did. We sat in the bar area because they have open seating without a wait. I don't think the table had been wiped down and was kinda sticky. While the waitres was very friendly the service was slow. A glance upward revealed falling insulation and cob webs. We started by getting the onion ring hay bail. It was not very good. It had ZERO seasoning, and had raw uncooked flower in the middle. They did bring us a new one without a hassle, but it took a big dose salt and bbq sauce to make it worth eating. We both ordered burgers, I had the All American burger with the Bison meat and wife had the cajun burger with bison. Our burgers were cooked well but also lacked seasoning. With the addition of some bbq sause my burger was great. my wife also liked hers.the fries were ok but had no seasoning,(see a common theme here?), and were not overly greasy. The buckets of peanuts were in my mind nasty because who knows whos been digging around in them. the shells on the floor are disgusting. how does this do anything but spread germs and promote vermin? In all it was a marginal experience. Don't know if we would go back.

Great place for BEEEEEEEF! It's what's for dinner....and Lunch.... One of the best burgers I've ever had outside my backyard...I was surprised...and very happy!

I was forced to dine here last night for a family birthday. I say 'forced' because I'm not much on dining in chain restaurants. And after eating there, it would take a 'force' of nature to get me to return. We tried making reservations for our group of 16 but since they don't take reservations we were 'forced' to suffer a 30 minute wait to get a table. With 6 kids in the group under the age of 10 this seemed an eternity. Fortunately it didn't take them long to find the barrel of peanuts. This quieted them down a bit while they took turns trying to open the nuts by smashing them against their foreheads. I ordered the Bison burger (medium well). I added bacon and blue cheese so I guess was expecting something other than what arrived....a very dried out hockey puck of meat with a smear of thick goeey stuff on top. The bacon was cooked perfectly but between the dried out burger and the funky tasting blue cheese spread, it was not a good burger. It took the waiter another 10 minutes to bring out the ranch dip I had ordered for my fries. My meal was far from good. I had opted for water to drink and never once was asked for a refill. Several people at the table were drinking lemonade and they were refilled many, many times. That made no sense to me at all. Why offer refills on a drink that has a cost over something you can get from the tap for free? It seemed everyone's reviews at the table were mixed. I had a chance to sample the salmon and it was really tasty. The rib-eye tasted tough and dry. The one redeeming thing about the place was the yummy bread and honey butter offered just before the meal came. Oh and there was a little platform in front of the grill so the kids had a good time watching the cooks. Several times they threw something very flammable on the grill and flames shot up about 2 feet. You could hear the kids squeal all the way across the place. But as long as it took to get our meal it was a great way to keep the kids entertained.

It's a middle of the road steak house that includes the "toss the peanut shells on the floor" experience. I've tried 5-6 different restaurants in Salem over the years and it's probably the best of the bunch.

How refreshing to eat at a restaurant & actually get your appetizer BEFORE the soup or salad. 5 stars for that alone! I happened to be with some "meat & potato" eaters & this restaurant was right up their alley. They loved the tri-tip & mashed potatoes covered in cheese & bacon. I ordered the eggroll sampler appetizer with 3 different types of eggrolls, each with its own dipping sauce. A black bean with a creamy chipotle sauce; jalapeno & cream cheese with a sweet chile sauce; smoked salmon with a creamy dill sauce. Deep fried heaven! For my entree I had a grilled salmon salad with artichoke hearts, olives, feta, tomato & cucumber. All in all the service was great, the food was huge & the hillybilly punch packed a punch. We waddled out with 4 to-go boxes.

The food was good. I had a pulled pork sandwich with fries. Very good. My co-workers enjoyed their food. The reason I am rating this restaurant a 1-star is that near the end of our meal, a mouse ran through the restaurant causing people to scream and run out. We never saw it, but many people did and they were pointing and following it as it passed our table. The waiter admitted they had a problem due to the rain and peanut shells all over the floors.

I've been a fan for a longtime. They have good food at reasonable prices. Today however was a different story... The service was pathetic. Our waitress took our order about 20mins after we sat down and the place was not busy by any stretch. She consistently forget small things such as ketchup, mustard, sides of ranch, etc. Probably the worst service I've ever experienced at the Roadhouse. When the food did come it was cooked to order and delicious as usual.

Very similar menu to The Best Little Roadhouse, even down to their bread service ::drool::. The atmosphere, though, is more "country" thanks to the "peanut service" which equals peanut shells EVERYWHERE. Unlike TBLR they don't have that big of a bar scene, and no putt putt golf...sad. I also had a VERY awkward date here once where the guy basically attacked my face with his mouth before the night was over.

Help!! How I found myself at a Texas BBQ restaurant, a national chain sponsored by Nascar no less, with peanut shells on the floor in SALEM is beyond me. Let's just say, I was desperate, I was hungry, and this place actually had people in it. I was game. Taking a look around at the portions, at the food, at the people, I thought, Uh oh! This place could use a healthy dose of tips and tricks on how to eat right and cut calories when eating out. Given this is the Original Roadhouse Grill, I'll try by best, but this is by no means an all inclusive list: 1. Skip the peanuts. If you want to partake in the festivities that is breaking the shells and throwing them on the floor then do so, but throw the peanuts down as well. 2. Don't touch that bread. Those greasy biscuits will do you no good. 3. Have a dinner salad. NO cheese. NO bacon. Salad dressing ON THE SIDE, and dip your fork in it per bite. Don't just pour it on. 4. If your meal comes with a side, you know your healthy options: steamed broccoli, mixed veggies or a baked potato (hold the sour cream, cheese, etc). 5. Enjoy your meat because you'll have worked up an appetite after all that self-restraint!! 6. No dessert. By integrating this list, I'll have saved you hundreds, if not thousands of calories. Look out for your own health, because restaurants like this don't. Be the wiser of the two.

Food very tasty. Prices little high for portions. Service was little slow but our waitress was swamped. She was very pleasant. BUT they have super good strawberry lemonade.

If you want to feel like being transported into redneck hell -- than yeah, go here! The place is a dump...and the peanuts on the floor don't help. This is a MEAT WHORE HOUSE. Nothing special about it. Just God-awful environment, food selection, and quality. ICK. Seriously, PUKE!

  • Rick L.

This one is difficult, I have eaten there many times and it has been really good sometimes and not so good others. It has been consistently inconsistent. The servies is usually good and fiendly but I just never knew whether the food would be good or not. To be sure when it was good it was very good but other times the steaks and burgers were dryed out and tough.

    (2)
  • Jando S.

Sure Roadhouse Grill is a big fat national chain, but lets not forget that a few of them are capable of cranking out some quality steaks as well. Such is the case as the local one here in Salem and unlike any of the regular Joe-Schmo places, there is nothing like it. Peanuts aplenty, the goal is make the place as filthy (yet as comfortable) as possible while dispensing peanut shells all over the place. Service will join in with you, as they're a festive and fun group. Go for the Southwest Egg Rolls for an appetizer and avoid the cheese fries (especially if you've been to the Outback). Steaks and grilled chicken a plenty and oh-so yummy. Don't wear fancy clothing here or its bound to plague you as bits of food seem to be all over here.

Not as good as Best Little Roadhouse. Not terrible either. The food and staff are just not quite as good as Best Little Roadhouse.

Typical chain restaurant...but quite over priced. I got a burger it was average...too much sauce for my liking so the bun was soggy. French fries were average as well. Will do better elsewhere.

    (2)
  • Jerad G.

You can't go wrong with a joint that has an endless supply peanuts. Yeah there are shells all over the floor, but it really adds to the road house ambiance. I had the bourbon tri tip with steamed broccoli, and fries. The tri tip was juicy and succulent. It almost seemed to melt on my tongue. The house BBQ sauce really added a burst of flavor. If you want a good cut of meat this place has you covered.

for the Salem area this is the best barbecue around. I've eaten all the other places in the Salem area and they don't match this place. so if you're thinking of BBQ give this place a shout first. the prices are reasonable and the service is good. they make nice cocktails here too. I enjoy their ribs, chicken and brisket. my next place to check out BBQ is Famous Dave's.

Really great food. Great service. We went for Valentine's Day and they had a real nice lunch/dinner special that included a n entrée, drink, and dessert. The steak, ribs, wings, Caesar salad, cheese cake and strawberry lemonade were all delicious! Our server, Zach, was very funny. He introduced himself as "mediocrely awesome" which made us laugh. He was attentive, although we could have used a refill on water, but we survived just fine. He did check back with us every so often, but not too often where it was annoying. He may have been mine and my husband's favorite waiter of all time. I've never been a fan of the roadhouse, but this experience will bring me back. Good food and good servers are hard to come by.

Ok, well, I almost cringe to have to review this place only because I have been here so many times with my mom's husband Charlie Baumann who is one of the most annoying people I have ever known (Who literaly spent hours on end trying to get me saved when I was already a believer because he is a pompus ass) and he almost always insisted in sitting in the far corner booth in the bar area, where I stared at the wall behind him for hours on end because yes, he is one of those people who doesn't just eat, chat for 30-60 minutes and move on, no, he sits there for hours and eats one fork load every half hour, stares and talks until your whole body hurts and the silverware seem like the only way out of this cage. I'm slicing my wrist or his throat! What does he talk about? The bible of course. People wonder why I don't read the bible anymore? Hmmmm. I have literally watched my mom, head thrown back, eyes shut, snoring away while he carries on about David and Goliath, Paul and Peter till I almost hate them too! Lord forgive me. So anyway, the service is always good, the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and always smile. My favorite, of course, was Kristy Burell who moved away to Virginia (She was also my Arobics instructor for 2 years and we all miss her) and the the Texas eggrolls and bread are to die for, the steaks are awesome. Well worth the visit even if you have to go out of your way.

The only good thing I can say is our server was very nice and good with our kids... When we first arrived I took my daughter to the bathroom to change her diaper and the whole way to the bathroom smelled terrible and the bathroom was almost unbearable. We ordered our food and drinks and they came out at a decent time, but my salad tasted like cleaner and my husband's bison steak was 50% fat and tasted like rotten meat. Overall, I would say the front of house staff is friendly, but this restaurant is filthy.

I have driven past this place about a million tea and this was my first visit. I am not typically a fan of the country western, peanut shells on the ground thing but my partner and I decided to try it out. There were MANY available booths and tables in the dinning room as this was a Thursday evening. Despite this, we were asked to sit in the bar; which we did. We waited for quite some time for someone to take out drink order and then waited a very long time for our server to take our food order. We then waited an extremely long time for our appetizer which never arrived. Instead our food arrived and my shrimp was prepared with garlic butter instead of the barbecue I ordered. I didn't want to wait any longer for another meal to be prepared so I asked for a side of bbq sauce which arrived slightly after my shrimp were cold. My partner's meal (grilled chicken) was pretty good. They gave us a card for a free appetizer on our next visit so I guess we will give them another try.

Sorry 145 dollars and salmon was nasty dry and bison steak nasty dry. manager needs to make some improvements. Just in case it was at 700 pm shift. Not what it used to be. Oh yes server excellent.

While the menu reads salads come on a bed of mixed greens, it means iceberg lettuce. $12 is too much for iceberg; I didn't even know they did this at nice restaurants, especially in 2015.

We had lived in Salem many years before finally trying out this place. We loved it! The food is delicious and the service is great. My kids love the variety of lemonades and the best part...free refills! My favorite thing is they offer "A Little Less Dinner". So tri-tip and a salad for me makes a perfect meal! My family also ordered the grilled catfish and loved it! Oh...and the sweet potato pecan pie....HEAVEN!!!!

Ate there last evening with a group of friends. The service for a Saturday night was very slow. The food didn't come out for over an hour. It was very sad service. It was like they were understaffed. And that happens at times. You just never know when a group would show up. Actually felt kind of bad for our waitress. When the food arrived, it was good and it was hot and very flavorful. Hoping they rethink the Friday / Saturday evening staffing.

The food is good when prepared correctly. The service however is horrible. Incredibly slow and the servers always seem to have an attitude and would rather stand around and talk instead of serving customers. Sad as the atmosphere could be fun if the right people were hired.

The wait was excruciatingly long - especially for a Monday evening when the restaurant was half empty. We waited a full hour from the time we were seated until we got our food. Our server was pleasant enough, but inattentive - it was hard to find her when we needed her. Then when our food finally came, she served my son after the adults, so he had to wait even longer (the kids should ALWAYS be served first). Thankfully, my food was good when it finally arrived, although my husband said that his was only mediocre.

Love love love. Im actually surprised to see so many negative reviews. This is the only place I order steak from. Its sooo delicious, their garlic mashers are the bomb. Texas egg rolls are to die for and lets not foget the strawberry lemonade. I've been here on valentines day and they ran out of food, but what ya going do, not the cook or waitresses fault. Like any resturant, its going to be a decent wait if you go during peak times.

Used to really enjoy going here with wife, service and quality have really gone down hill in the last few years. Service was very slow, steak was lukewarm, without any of the crusty sear that makes steak worth eating and cheese wasn't even melted on the mashers. Waitress was borderline rude after we caught the eye of the another server after we'd sat for 10 minutes with no drink order. Restroom area smelled very strongly of sewer, got a shrug when I reported it. It's a shame, they used to do so well that 3 years ago I hosted my office holiday party there and spent over $300 in a single afternoon. We won't be returning.

Went here for lunch with co-workers. The service was slow. Felt the place was dirty. The food - the reason you dine out - was cold and tasteless. I'm not sure what's happened the last year or so, but the most important things about this restaurant - the food and service - have gone down bad.

So I hadn't visited this establishment in several years as I prefer the "other" Roadhouse across town. But we were hungry and it was open (around 9pm). The place was dead, service was so-so and the food was absolutely horrible. I wasn't sure I wanted to detail my full visit on Yelp as I was pretty bad, so instead I called the manager the next day. I talked with Erica and she was very welcoming to my comments and pleasant. She even mailed me some gift certificates to come back in and on another day for a better experience. This was about two weeks ago... Today I visited for lunch (around 2:30p) with my daughter. While the food was good this timethe service was terrible, or should I say lack of service. Our waitress came yby twice - to take our drink order and to take our actual order. We saw her working other tables and she even made eye contact with me later on and ignored me. The place was not full and I watch several servers working. We were there for a total of an hour and a half with the lag time being waiting for someone to take our order, waiting for our water, waiting for our appetizer, which actually came out with our food, waiting asking and then waiting for rolls, asking and then waiting for some additional rolls, waiting for re-fills, no one ever came to check on us until the check was about to be dropped off and I asked if I could order a salad to go. The server was filling in for our waitress as she went on break. He was very nice. Quickly placed our order, brought it out and brought our check. We will not be back. Ever. I say that sometimes, but this time is for real... This establishment obvisouly doesn't pride itself on service and I think I was fair enough giving them a second try. I am debating if I should call ERcia again and give her my feedback from today. I don't think she will be too pleased.

Peanuts, Diet Coke, and Fries were the best things we had to eat. We went here on Saturday night after the Civil War game the waiter was quite friendly but the food was not very good at all. I ordered Tri-tip and ended up dipping it in A-1 Sauce and BBQ sauce to eat it. I tried a Hamburger that was over cooked and tasted a bit like rubber. Used be one of my favorite places when I lived in Salem very disappointed after visiting this time.

great texas bbq place. I love the free peanuts where you throw the shells on the ground.

  • Seth K.

The "Roadhouse" is what you expect from anywhere named "Roadhouse". Free Peanuts on the table and shells on the floor. Country western style decorations and music. The menu is all standard BBQ foods. I have had trouble with the staff here several times. They lazy, slow and stupid. The last straw was a few years ago. I attended a party hosted here, they refused to serve alcohol to my friend who was 30. This ID was from out of state, they though it was fake. The fact that most everyone at the party was law enforcement, didn't change their minds. The whole party left without ordering any food. The management and staff were rude. I won't be coming back, I stick to the Best Little Road House in South Salem!

walked in to a hostess who tried to steer us to the bar even though the dining floor was less than half full, we declined eating in the bar and said we would wait for them to clean a booth or table. the hostess was not pleased. the restaurant was very humid and warm and frankly the food less than impressive for the price we paid. our waitress was friendly and did a good job.

  • Jill D.

I guess I'm in the minority here after reading the other reviews. I've been to this restaurant many times and although the service can be sporadic, for the most part it's pretty good. We try to sit in the bar and the service there is usually fine. I have to say my husband and I think they have the best burgers in town. Just the regular bacon cheeseburger medium rare--wow, absolutely mouthwatering every time we've ordered it. The rest of the food is as good or better than the other chain restaurants and pretty consistent. They make a great steak and know how to cook it correctly--we are picky about doneness and want all our meat medium rare and they do it right every time.

The food is decent. But the service absolutely sucks. And I dunno why but I end up going there with friends occasionally and every time I get pissed off at the awful service. I would much rather go to the Best Little Roadhouse any day even though I live RIGHT next to this one! Pretty sad, wish they would focus on customer service more so we could start going here more often.

It's a chain. But it's a pretty decent chain. I particularly enjoy their Texas Egg Rolls. These are a bar food, basically a crust wrapped around a mixture of cream cheese and jalapenos and deep fried. Jalapeno poppers, really, but stretched out and elongated. The jelly that comes along side them is really the make or break piece, though, and I love it. The beers come in talls and the service has always been really good for me here. I sometimes have issues with getting my steak done the way i like it, so the last few times I've been here, I've opted for the boneless wings. The barbecue sauce is quite good and no one else I've ever been with seems to have problems with their orders. So perhaps it's just me. A decent standard and a good place to go with a group, but it can be loud, and occasionally the line is out the door. Parking is also oddly always a pain in the ass...even if the restaurant seems empty, it feels like their lot is always full. Maybe they have a lot of employees in the back....who knows?

I love their sweet honey rolls!! They have pretty good food at decent prices and you can throw your peanut shells on the floor. My biggest complaint is that the alcoholic drinks I've ordered seemed watered down and weren't as strong as other places.

We have tried multiple times thinking it can't always be this bad, but every time we are proven wrong. TERRIBLE Service. On a Sunday night at 6:00 we had to wait 25 minutes for a table for 3. I could understand if the place was packed but they had 16 tables in the dinning room empty! That is not including the open tables in the bar. As we were waiting in the lobby with about 15 other people we notice the cook behind the grill using the same tongs to take cook meat off the grill that he had just put raw chicken on the grill with. The servers seem to be too busy making salads and bussing table to actually take care of their own tables. The food was half way decent, but the poor service defiantly out weighs the food. We will not be returning to the Original Roadhouse Grill.

We've been to this place twice. The last time we went our server was Thomas, who was great. I ordered the tri-tip and chicken breast combo, the steak was not good and my chicken was over cooked. However the rolls, baked sweet potato and green beans were very good. They have several flavors of ice tea and lemonade and the kids menu has more options than the typical mac n cheese.

The happy hour menu is dangerous!! My husband and I went in to get a couple things...$40 later we brought home like 8 boxes to snack on for days to come... I think someone's eyes were bigger than his stomach. The waiter in the bar though was AMAZING!! He played around with the customers and there was banter going back and forth it was a fun environment to be in!! We will most likely be back, but we have to eat in the bar because that guy cracked us up!!

Great food and service. Went during my lunch with a friend, gets a little packed, but the servers are good with bringing your drinks and food in a decent amount of time. I'd go back and get the broccoli soup again. Delicious.

I love only one thing about the Roadhouse grill. The rolls. I could eat nothing but basket after basket of hot, steaming, fresh sweet rolls with a little of the honey butter. Beyond that, honestly the food is mediocre. I think I've had the whiskey river salmon twice, and I was unimpressed both times. After the sad salmon incidents, I switched to a buffalo burger, and was also just "meh" in quality and flavor. Service is hit or miss, you can get refills on soda some nights, others you can go the whole meal without having one. The peanuts all over the ground are slightly annoying in my opinion, but others seem to like it. It can get loud, and large groups of people come on the weekends. Haven't been back in a little while, but for me, I will just order a couple dozen rolls to take home and skip the meal next time.

Beer was great but how can you mess that up. I think this place could do with about 20 more servers to help out the three that were there. The tables were a complete mess with piles of dishes that have yet been cleared. I will say that they food was pretty good and the prices were acceptable. Will I go back? I will give it another try it just might have been a bad day.

Dined here on June 23rd. It was a Thursday night. The place was busy, Tables in the bar area were open (but NOT Bussed). My dining companions and I went to the Original Roadhouse for dinner. what started as a large group dwindled to the three of us. It was a good thing there was only three of us because if there were any more, we would have gone hungry MUCH Longer. Upon arrival we opted to sit in the bar area because that was where an open booth was. However, the booth was not bussed and we had to wait for the waitress to buss it...There was NO Buss staff in the place which seemed very odd. Anyway, the waitress cleaned the booth after a 15 minute wait and she stated that she was all alone working the bar seating area (10 tables). After seating, we ordered our drinks which took forever to arrive. We waited nearly 30 minutes before the waitress was able to take our food order. During our wait to give our order, we had a chat with the manager about the lack of staffing. We made it VERY clear that the waitress was doing the absolute best she could based on the staffing. We told the manager that based on the amount of people in the bar area, there should be at LEAST three wait staff working the area. He tried to make excuses for the lack of staffing telling us that it is based at 'corporate level' trends from the previous year. What a crock of malarky! Each restaurant has their own ability to make staffing decision. (To be honest, I have received better service at a McMenamins, and we ALL know their reputation for speed!) The ambiance, if you could call it that, is Country/Surf/Hick. They try hard to give a mix and don't really succeed. Pick one theme and stay with that. If you have kids with you, standing in front of the cooking station will cause the 'chefs' to char everyone's steaks and burgers by making the grill flame up about 8 feet. While this makes for a great show for the kiddies....I really don't appreciate my meat being charred. Tip to the 'chefs'...use a part of the grill that doesn't have customers orders cooking. On to the food. We received our sweet rolls at the same time as our meals and salads. All came out together which wasn't that bad, but really not the way a meal should be served. We had waited nearly an hour for our meals from the time we arrived, so we had eaten a lot of peanuts. The rolls were warm and tasty as was the Bison Burger I ordered. I say warm because the burger was served at room temperature. The menu stated I get a choice of buns for my burger, but I didn't...maybe I read the menu wrong? Maybe the choice of buns was the 'chefs'? I don't know. One of my dining companions ordered the Bison Burger as well, the other ordered the London Broil. Both stated their meal was fine, not special, not great, just fine. Two of us ordered the Hillbilly Punch. While this was served in a very large mason jar, it was first filled with ice which amounted to about 1 ounce of booze and two ounces of flavoring filled up the jar. Our other dining partner ordered a gin and tonic which was served in a smaller jar with significantly less ice. Don't worry about getting intoxicated on the Hillbilly Punch, because you would have to order about a dozen in order to even feel the alcohol. The price for the meals and drinks were too high for the quality and service. This is a great place to go if you want to kill a few hours waiting to be served and drinking overpriced weak drinks. My advice is that if you are going to eat here during the dinner hours (5 to 8 p.m.) eat before you come here so you won't go hungry waiting! A quick note to the 'corporate' bigwigs if they are reading this....your restaurant could use a makeover. Staff it better, lower your prices, and pay attention to your customers. Don't dictate what the local managers can do, let them make the decisions based on their experience. The next time someone suggests we eat at the Original Roadhouse Grill, I will probably opt to go somewhere else alone.

The first time I ate here was last year. Dinner before I graduated from Valley Medical college. I enjoyed the rolls and butter that you get. I could just eat a whole basket of that myself. I also enjoyed the strawberry lemonade. I didn't like the onion rings, don't order those. They were just limp onions covers in a light layer or breading. I also don't like their dinner salads. I do love their tri-tip. The tri-tip and the rolls is what gives them the ratings I have given. What's horrible? How much time you have to wait for everything from ordering till when you are trying to pay to get out of there. I hate how peanut shells go on the floor. Not cool man. I also hate how they are not in a hurry to bust the tables. I swear the tables in the four corners of the room are used as dumping grounds for plates when they have to hurry and bust a table to allow someone to have a seat. I honestly think they need to get Robert Irvine from the foodnet's tv show, Restaurant Impossible to fix things up.

I always enjoy coming here. I my experience the food has been consistently good. My wife considers it to be on the level of Red Robin, and for me it's a step up from that. The atmosphere is casual and almost pub-like (and yes, there will be peanut shells on the floor). The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and fast. If you're looking for fine dining, that's not what this is (nor how they charge); if you're looking for good, solid comfort food, you should give this place a shot. The only thing that would make it a little better for me is if they kept their temperature less chilly during the winter.
