No. No. No. Never again. I got a delivery of the Wasabi Shrimp Roll and Summer Time Roll. Gross. Both. The shrimp rolls STILL HAD THE TAILS ON THEM. WHY WOULD YOU NOT TAKE THE TAILS OFF!? The wasabi was weak on them, too. The Summer Time roll was weird and an odd temperature and just ugh... not good. The lady I ordered from even suggested the Summer Time roll. Mistake. Miso soup was good. Cucumber salad was salty and meh. So disappointed. I eat sushi and sashimi a lot. I will never order from this place again. Steer clear.

Lunch with my honey is always great here. Good food, good prices and a great atmosphere. This is my wife and i's favorite lunch spot.
(4)Corrine W.
I love this place. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Never had sushi, asked the chef for something basic and he delivered 4 huge and really yummy rolls. Will be back!
(5)William D.
When we first got there we both looked at each other and had mixed feelings. On the outside it looks like a divey trucker stop dinner with a fluorescent sushi. "Good luck" we said to each other. Once inside we saw a sushi bar and a small dining area. The restaurant is pretty small and cramped but it adds to a cool Izakaya divey feel. No complaints from me. There are a ton of sushi options to be had. Pages of rolls and pictures and descriptions of each. A good selection of nigiri as well. We had some salmon and had instant approval from my girlfriend who is usually picky about her fish. All in all the sushi was quite good and it was also happy hour! We decided to try out a crepe to finish off the meal but were unimpressed. We got the "green" crepe which had avocado, green tea, kiwi, and custard. The crepe itself was meh. The filling nothing to be excited about. We also noticed there didn't seem to be any custard. Don't let its looks scare you. This place has some decent sushi. The crepes seemed like an after thought but I'm glad we gave this place a shot.
(3)Caroline S.
Great food, ok service and decent prices. I love that they have a drive thru window; best to phone your order in ahead of time, and delivery service.
(4)Wayne G.
It's borderline hole in the wall and very good. They use sushi rice, fresh seafood and it's rolled well. We had sushi and the eel with rice. The green tea is very good and comes in a heavy pot. The service is quick. The floor could be cleaner.

this place was awesome. me and my boyfriend are both from Texas and we are in Salem visiting for the summer. we found this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! the inside is very small, but the service was amazing and so was the food. they have so many sushi rolls that we had never heard of! I would 100% recommend. we got the spider roll, rainbow roll, double shrimp roll, and Oregon salmon roll!
(4)Nelson S.
First it really small, no really! We're talking 5 booths and 6 chairs at the counter in a building that doesn't give any appeal. Get past that and you'll find some really good sushi with friendly staff. The happy hour is good. In the mood for dessert and you'll find their crepes are out of this world.
(5)Caleb S.
The Salem roll was fantastic! The sushi chef was cool, fish was fresh and delicious. Could be a little more creative in some areas but overall very solid!
(4)C G.
I thought the quality of the sushi was mediocre and overpriced; as compared to other sushi joints in Salem. The chicken in the katsu was paper thin, and the crust was peeling off on it's own. On top of that, no one bothered to tell us thank you when we had finished paying/tipping. I was very disappointed because I had read great reviews on Yelp.
(1)Rob W.
Momiji Sushi & Crepes is a great place to get delicious sushi! They even have a drive-thru if you're in a hurry! I have not tried the crepes yet, but I hear they're delicious!
(5)Monkey T.
Remember that scene from Bridesmaids, when they pull up to the hole-in-the-wall cheaper Brazilian BBQ? Judging books by the cover, Monkey seriously was ready to leave as soon as we pulled up. Are you serious, Yelp? Sushi? Here?! Red flag #1! ...but then Asian women with kids in tow came out alive as we arrived. First glance inside still looked like a dive converted into sushi bar. Red flag #2. ...but everything was so clean and did not smell of fish or mouth. Check out the drive thru window behind the bar. Hmm... So hungry and we've come so far off the interstate already, we gave it a shot. Jeez, if yelp likes it that much, it can't, err it should be safe... We sat down and were served promptly as we perused the menu. Monkey do: CHIRASHI DONBURI - big happy bowl of beautiful sashimi over rice OYSTER TEMPURA - big hunks of fried oysters, better than Henry's Taiwan Plus! VEGETABLE TEMPURA - excellent OREGON SALMON ROLL - delicious Verdict: It's good. We didn't get sick. We really enjoyed the Oyster Tempura. It's a family owned chain in Oregon. When in Salem, Monkey shall return.

The boyfriend and I were driving to Seattle and on our way we needed a place to eat late on a Sunday. This place was open and did not disappoint us. We ordered the crab salad roll, spicy baby shrimp roll, volcano roll, and the spicy octopus roll. All were very good and since it was just before 11pm when we ordered we got two of them half price with our drinks so the total for 32 pieces of sushi, a soda, hot tea, and a classic crepe it was $30 (w/o tip)! Definitely will stop in again if I am passing through the Salem area.
(5)Dustin C.
I never give a 5 star. This place earns it! If you love sushi, do yourself a favor and try this place.
(5)Paul B.
Service has not been good lately and sushi rolls sloppily put together last few visits. Disappointing because I like this place.
(3)Nicole Y.
Great happy hour and great service and great food with a huge variety of rolls to satisfy every sushi lover.
(4)Kevin M.
If ever there was a culinary example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover - this is it!!!! Hidden behind a small convenience store in a tiny corner of the building, Momiji Express is truly a hidden treasure! Once inside, the decor welcomes you but it's the staff that seals the deal. It doesn't matter who's working, customers are always greeted with a smile and genuine inquiry about your day. Obviously the make or break of any sushi bar is consistent quality and presentation. It's apparent that all Momiji's chefs take great pride in both of these attributes. Hands down the best overall sushi experience for miles around. My 9 year old son wanted me to mention their Miso soup is the best EVER!!!
(5)Charlene K.
SUSHI DELIVERY! Only if you are lucky enough to be living in the Northeast area. Recommend the Christmas Roll, shotgun roll, Salmon Premium, Miso Sexy roll.
(4)Jazmyne H.
Best Sushi in Salem Place looks kinda dodgy, but Oh Man! The sushi is off the hook. Where most restaurants around here are "good for Salem", this place is simply good. Could easily hold its own in a larger city. Staff is friendly, sushi is fresh, miso is tasty. Can't get better than that. Oh, wait, yes it can - (they have a drive through)
(5)Patrick F.
This place is BOMB.com !!! It is a tiny little hole in the wall place, off of Silverton Rd. that is run by a friendly group of dudes! Can't beat their lunch special...comes with 2 rolls of your choosing, cucumber salad and miso soup for $8.99....dang get some!!! Lunch special runs from 11am-4pm Monday-Friday I believe. I normally don't eat sushi simply cuz I can't afford to spend so much and get so little. I don't get it often cuz it's a little more spendy, but their Salem roll will change your life! Try it at least once! Expect a crowded atmosphere as it's a small venue, but they do good work and make good sushi! :)
(5)Jessie D.
I just don't get it. I feel like anyone giving this place higher than 3 stars has not had great sushi. The fish quality is good, don't get me wrong, but there's so much more that goes into a 5star experience. I rarely have good customer service here, sometimes it is good but not often. The quality of non-fish ingredients is really hit and miss, and the quantity of fillings is lacking compared to most places I've eaten sushi. It's just so mediocre, I don't understand these reviews of "amazing sushi". There are at least 4 other places in Salem with better sushi, and if you want "amazing sushi" you should go to Js Teriyaki. I live very close to Momijis so I have eaten here many times, but every time I go I'm disappointed and now only go for the convenience. They do have a drive thru and they do deliver, so that is nice. It's not bad by any means, but very un-amazing!
(3)Timothy R.
When the craving for sushi strikes, one must act soon. It's like chocolate with me...it's gonna keep bugging me until I satisfy my hunger. I had heard there was a good sushi restaurant on Silverton Road but had never been there. Since I was in the area to see a friend and my craving for Yellowtail was strong, I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Don't let the area of town fool you. Or the mild exterior. Or the small interior. This place has really good sushi. The Yellowfin was decent, the Yellowtail was very good, and the Albacore was exceptional, as was the Tempura Tilapia, something I've never had before. The staff were courteous and the prices reasonable. I had a very nice dining experience and would return there.

A hidden treasure for sushi lovers. Off the path for most of us in Portland but worth a stop if you are around. We stopped by here on the way back to the rose city after a road trip. Important: they are open till midnight everyday and have a happy hour from 9-11pm. Where per drink you get one roll 50% off. Nice deal for taking multiple friends along and enjoying some good sushi. We had the following: Dragon roll: number 1: the spicy sauce on top was wonderful and the whole roll tasted wonderful. Shot gun roll: number 3: comes with a lemon on top. I loved it with some ginger on it. Jalapeño roll: number 2: this is the surprise roll for us. It is smaller than the rest of the rolls. But is fried, has jalapeño and some cream cheese. The spicy sauce on top was also wonderful. Miso sexy roll: number 3. Fresh with a warm core. Spicy and we finished our meal with this. It has a crunchy green onion in the centre which gives it a unique twist.
(5)Jon W.
This place is fantastic..great food...delivery and open everyday till midnight!! What more can anyone ask for. And their classic crepes are delicious
(5)Miranda P.
Best sushi in town! These guys know what they are doing, the food is fantastic! My favorites are the uni, sushi tower, seared escolar, Korean poke and seaweed salad. I'm hungry just thinking about it.
(5)Joe R.
This sushi is second only to Sushi Kyo. Amazing selection, talented chef, speedy delivery, and friendly staff. Absolutely, hands down, has the best roll of sushi I've ever tried- the Salem Roll. Don't let the dive appearance fool you, this is a hidden gem.
(4)Anonymous Y.
Total whole in the wall....with great food! A friend took me there the first time, and I was hesitant (if you've seen the place you know why ha!) but it turned out to be great! Kind of small and awkward with only a few tables and hokey decor (also there's something wrong with the floor...I was totally slipping around, but whatever) but worth it for the food. Will be back! Their sampler platters are great for a group, especially if you're new to the sushi thing and not sure what to order.
(4)Armando O.
I've been at this specific location on Silverton road several times now and I've got to say that the food and service are consistently great. Actually, the food is delicious :) Thank You
(5)Billy G.
First time to a sushi bar, every kind of roll you could imagine. The place was very clean, courteous staff. Will definitely be going back!
(5)Molly M.
The food here is really good but it's a hole in the wall place. Also, going for the first time at night was a little scary pulling into the parking lot, just because the building is painted a very dark color and has few windows. It looks like a former bar or drive though. The inside is fine though.
(5)Lawrence S.
Service is friendly and food gets done on time! Hot and so good. We've tried sushi all over globe including Japan and it is nice to have a place like this in Salem! I'll be back. This is the first time we sat in to dine with two younger kids and they were happy to see us! Kudos to the Sushi Chef!
(4)Lavinia W.
Our go-to sushi spot in Salem. The place doesn't look like your typical Sushi Bar, but don't let its outward appearance fool you. They have the best sushi in Salem.
(4)Jane S.
Don't let the name fool you: the Silverton Road Momiji doesn't have much to do with the one on South Commercial. As far as I can tell, the restaurants both license the Momiji name but are otherwise separate entities. The dining and culinary experiences you'll have at each Momiji are completely different. These days I'll occasionally find myself in a South Commercial Momiji kinda mood - a little bit classy, a little bit austere - but I don't crave it like I do the one in the boonies. This Momiji is a sushi BAR. Not much has been done to disguise this place's divey neighborhood pub past. It's a narrow, dark space, kinda loud, with a TV and small booths. The clientele is more varied than at other local sushi bars, with a mix of old-timers from the dive days, Latino and Russian families, and young couples. We usually start out with a beer and a couple of appetizers, usually seaweed salad and calamari salad. The salads are cool and refreshing. Japanese calamari salad is becoming a street food staple on the Oregon Coast, and while Momiji's version doesn't quite match it in freshness, it comes close enough to tide us over between beach trips. The sushi rolls are big and ostentatious, with lots of Western touches (cream cheese, fried stuff, heavy sauce) and over-the-top presentational flourishes. It's fancy bar food. Not terribly authentic, but delicious and, unlike a lot of sushi, filling. The hot n' spicy rolls always hit the spiciness sweet spot - flavorful, neither overwhelming or bland. I am partial to the unagi rolls, but then I'm partial to the unagi rolls anywhere. Save room for dessert! The crepes are delicious works of art, but be forewarned - they're big, and the way they're constructed makes them impossible to share. Not that we don't try every time we go.
(4)Samantha B.
Absolutely delicious! My boyfriend and I tried this location the other night to fix our sushi crave. I have been eyeing this place on yelp since moving to this part of town, and I am so happy we tried it! Like crab? The North Bend Roll is delicious! Like a fried roll! Try the Salem Roll! Of course there are a bunch of other options, the rolls seem infinite! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi! And try the crepes! The banana was my favorite. :) will definitely go again!
(5)Missy W.
Stopped in this evening for a little late night sushi. Love that they are open late. The place, although quite small, was full, but we were able to grab the last booth. Menu's are provided at the table. We saw a sign that said "happy hour" 9-11pm. Great! We ordered two items for that menu, the Sushi Tower which was EXCELLENT and the Boston Roll which was just okay. We also ordered some fresh nigari which tasted fresh and presented nice as well. (Sushi Tower was literally a tower of fresh fish, roe, crab, rice, green onion, avocado, sesame seeds, etc.) The service was a little slow and hurried, but not rude or anything. We saw they offer delivery as well with a $20 min order plus $3 for delivery. Not bad at all. I think we will return fairly soon, especially to order that Sushi Tower again.
(4)Tam L.
Good sushi. Good service. Sometimes the rolls come undone when I pick it up, could be rolled a little tighter. I think the poke tuna is overpriced for the size. I've had poke tuna in other places for the same price, doubled or tripled the portion. And yes, good quality too. They should make a sashimi bowl! The place is Waaay too small for the amount of people that go there. Sometimes there's a group of obnoxious people there and you can't get away from them because they are so close to you.
(4)N P.
Very innovative and amazing quality. Most of the 30 odd rolls looked great and the green crepe is a really cool way to end the meal. Don't judge this book by its cover!
(4)Jael J.
The quintessential hole in the wall that turns out to be AMAZING. Oh my god! I die! The sushi is amazing. They have fun rolls. They use fresh everything - including jalapenos...which is something I am super picky about. Deliciousness. Pure deliciousness. Service could be a little faster...but really it's fine and the food more than makes up for it. YUM!!
(5)Logan H.
Literally, my only complaint is the size of the place, but that is what really makes it amazing. You get to see the effort that goes into creating your meal. Plan a little longer for dinner than you originally planned because it is a tiny place that is always full, but it will not disappoint.
(5)Christina N.
so nice hung is an employee he is super awesome and nice and so if jeff but i think he works at a different location now they're always friendly food is cheap and good don't let the exterior fool you!
(5)Matt H.
This is one of the best if not best places to get sushi in Salem. Great for getting Togo since they have the handy drive up window. The staff is super friendly and always provide casual chill vibe. The Magic roll is my current fave. Their menu is huge plus they'll make anything you can think of. You can tell they love the food they put out. It's craftily made and delicious. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Think I'm gonna have some tomorrow. Enjoy!
(5)Michael G.
Awesome sushi! Unlike any other sushi place I've tried. It's very hip and cool place. The staff treats you right. I'll be back for more.
(5)Julie E.
My husband and I were so hungry and when we arrived they had an open table waiting for us. Our server Taylor was terrific she made some great suggestions on what is the most popular and what she personally enjoys. It is a little small inside but don't let it fool you. All of our rolls were big and tasted incredible. We can't wait to go back and see Taylor and the friendly staff at Momiji again soon.
(5)James H.
So I have to declare my rationale behind my ratings. Food triumphs. You can have the best service and decor in town but if the food isn't good, low rating. Happily this is not the case here, the food is great. While our male server is nice, not rude at all, just not attentive. I won't let this stop me from coming back, however, because again, food reigns. Sushi is very good, and well priced. We had room for dessert and the crepes were very good. Try the Green crepe, has kiwi and all green fruit and surprisingly avocado which was delicious. We will definately come back.
(4)Franceska B.
This place is great. Really glad I didn't let the look of the outside of the building keep me away. The service was great and the food was excellent. They were very accommodating to us, they heated up the food I brought for my daughter, did the all you can eat sushi for 3 instead of 4 and didn't make us call ahead for the all you can eat. Would def come here again.
(5)Robert D.
I've had sushi all over the place, including Vancouver B.C. Momijis is probably the best. Fresh, flavorful, inventive sushi in Salem? Heck yes.
(5)jeffrey I.
Great sushi - great surprise - nice waiter Jeff. A little ways from Hwy 5 but worth it. We were just traveling through and happy to find this no- nonsense spot for good sushi.
(4)Sarah B.
Great sushi and friendly staff. Jeff is the best! The menu is easy to read and there is a good selection of rolls at every price range. They are vegan friendly too and even made some special rolls for a veggie friend of mine. They are also open late, deliver for orders over $40 and have a drive through which is awesome. The fish is always fresh and the service is good, even when it's very busy the staff is 100%. The crepes are good as well, I love the green tea ice cream, kiwi and avocado. The few reasons I don't give 5 stars: this place is small and tight, needs to be bigger to accommodate business. It can be insufferable when you have a bunch of loud teenage girls or obnoxious kids in the booth next to you and can't get away from them. Also, the size is very noticeable when crates and stuff are out in the hall or the bathroom door is blocked. They also need seafood salad and more sashimi options! The poke salad is good but overpriced for the size. Right now the Sashimi Platter ($16 bucks) is the only sashimi option and the slices are thin and not very good value, especially compared to the sashimi at the other Momiji in South Salem. Also, the edamame is overpriced for how much you get. But I still love this place and go in about once a week, I'm dedicated to the cause!
(4)Ashley S.
This is a hidden 5 star in Salem. While the sushi is not the best I have had, it is still quality sushi and great cuts. The crepes are amazing, perfect texture and not to thick full of flavors that accent each other perfectly. I'm from North Van BC close to an extreme amount of fabulous and not so fabulous sushi places, yet every time I am in Salem, I find myself craving Momijis. I've now covered all the basics by them and their eat in, drive thru and delivery services. This place shines in friendliness, quality and fun. The place itself is a little off the beat, but worth going to. You walk in and instead of that pretentious feeling you get in far too many sushi places you feel relaxed, at home and very welcomed. It reminded me of visits to the local Sushi-ya in Japan as a child. Over all with my 3 experiences in the last two years with Momiji Japanese Crepes and Sushi I couldn't give them anything less than a 5 star. I've never left feeling unsatisfied in any way shape or form and to me that deserves the highest review.
(5)Dan H.
I have been here a couple of times and each time I order something new and it get better and better. Love the calamari salad, I always have to have it and with the large menu its so easy to try something new each time or even an old favorite. if your looking to save a little money anything after 9pm if you order any kinda drink you any roll half off. An the fact that you can do drive Thur is amazing. its fave and fresh and i have to admit that i have never seen drive Thur sushi anywhere but this is great.
(5)Rosie A.
Great service and friendly staff! We loved the Salem rolls and shot gun roll. Will definitely return!
(5)Brittany S.
I was at another place close to here, and saw the sign, so on a whim thought I would stop in for lunch. They had advertised complimentary hot tea and miso soup with you order, so I thought why not? Immediately upon entering there were hellos from every staff member in there. We sat down and looked at the menu (paper --which is a little weird in my opinion, but whatever), and there were many choices at really cheap prices. I was pretty happy about that. I ordered the eel roll, and my grandma ordered the California roll. She really enjoyed hers, and mine was good. Not great, but good. I didn't care for the black sesame seeds added to it, so next time if I go again (I'm sure I will since my grandma really liked the place), then I'll just ask for no sesame seeds or order something different. The other thing that had caught my eye was the Japanese crepes they had advertised. You can choose one that is pre selected, or build your own. Many of the choices were crossed off, so I'm not sure if they were crossed off because of temporarily out of stock, or just not carrying them anymore. Now I can't say that these were good or bad because I didn't try them. But, I had been excited about them because I really wanted some since I'd been to a great place in San Francisco, but when I asked about cream cheese, I got a strange look. So I might just skip the crepes and only get sushi at this place. I will say that it seemed pretty clean in there, the service was great, and the food was good. Also, I heard a lady who seemed like a regular talking about gluten free sauces and such..so since I am gluten sensitive...that is something I will think about when coming back here since it isn't easy to find gluten free products that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Drive through sushi? Now that's an interesting concept. Their cozy dining room is colored in friendly touches of blue with bar seating at the kitchen and booth seating for a small family. Employees are all really friendly and the owner remembers us on the few, and far between, times we've dropped by for lunch. Now and then they'll let us try some new experimental dish they want to eventually bring out as a special. Their regular dishes? Be prepared for a flavor explosion in your mouth! Each ingredient seems to have a healthy balance of taste, freshness and flavor when matched with all the other ingredients. Add wasabi if you must, but not soy sauce. It squelches the flavors. Oh, and try a crepe. I'm serious. Don't think twice. Order one now!
(4)Christine B.
Don't let the outside of the building or the location fool you, this as is good as it gets in Salem. The menu is great, especially for those unfamiliar with sushi, the staff was very friendly, our tea was refilled as was our water without asking. We had the Salem Roll (great for those who are afraid of fish or a fishy taste) Tuna roll and Rocky Shrimp roll, with green tea and pot stickers. Our food was served quickly, presentation was beautiful and the amount of food was perfect (the two of us left with leftovers for dinner) price was right also. I wish we had room for the crepes! Will be back soon to try those.
(5)Vinh N.
I am giving this joint 2 stars, but you gotta understand that there's a shift in standards given the fact that this is a sushi restaurant in SALEM. If this were to compare to sushi places in general, I'd give this place 1 star. The saving grace was the nice service we got. I almost missed this place because it was such an awkward location, but I digress. We were told we could seat ourselves as the place was empty minus a few patrons at the bar area. The place is small and a little dingy and I found it strange that they didn't have real menus. Instead, they had paper ones that would've been used for take-out -- it instantly made the atmosphere cheap. I took a look at the prices, and surprise, it matched the decor. The fact that it was so cheaply priced threw up a red flag in my mind as to how fresh everything was going to be, but I sucked it up. The menu made me think a little longer for what I wanted to eat because everything was abbreviated, which was a complete pain. Our server was nice and patient with us until we finally settled on some rolls. I can't even recall what I ate because it was that unforgettable, but I recall shrimp tempura in there and it was topped with spicy tuna. When the roll came out, the spicy tuna on top appeared completely unappetizing and beyond mushy, but I figured maybe the taste would compensate. The roll was edible, but I felt uncomfortable with how warm the roll was, especially the "fresh" fish on top. I understand the fundamental processes of energy transfer and how the tempura could warm the fish on top, but I've never had a roll taste like that at other sushi restaurants despite the same technique. I was content to stop at just one roll and bounce. I really wanted to like this place, I really did. At least I didn't get food poisoning?
(2)Sean G.
Good sushi and very fast. Taste great. Nice sized menu.
(4)michele f.
I wanted to like this place but it just doesn't strike me as very clean. After watching the crepemaker wipe his wooden utensil with the same rag used a few minutes prior to wipe the countertops down, I had second thoughts about the food being prepped for my sushi order... I'm picky about my sushi and soypaper is my wrap of choice. They use it properly by wrapping the inside ingredients with the paper, then covering the roll with sushi rice. This ensures that the soypaper doesn't fall apart like it would after it gets moist when on the outside of the roll. I'm a vegetarian and have eaten veggie sushi that doesn't taste like fish but Momiji's was fishy-flavored.... Total bummer since they're not far from my school and cheap, cheap, cheap. So if you're looking for a deal and aren't turned off by a low hygiene level, this is your place!
(2)Andy T.
NOM. Momiji makes sushi into comfort food. All of the staff was super-friendly, the food was delicious and served very quickly, and the green tea was also amazingly yummy. The only negative note is that the rolls weren't very tightly wrapped, but they held together fine between plate and mouth. Caveat Android users: Google Maps thinks the restaurant is on the other side of the street; so, when Navigation says "turn left," look on the right-hand side of the street.
(4)Stephanie P.
Best sushi I've had in years and amazing service. Extra thanks to Jeff for taking care of the girls' requests! I'm debating making the trip from Seattle again just to eat here.
(5)Suzannah P.
Fantastic fresh sushi! Summer time roll is delightful. Staff was very friendly. Great atmosphere :)
(5)Rachel P.
I was in the area and sushi sounded great and everything I ordered was delicious!
(4)Angela F.
I forgot to post an update! We went back another time and the sushi was still great. We had the crepes...I won't speak for my DH but my bannana one was so good! I want one right now just writing about it. The owner still came over and spoke to us. This is a great place!
(4)kathy m.
OK, I'm going out on a limb here and giving this place four stars. I'm going to say the sushi is good. For Salem. Good sushi in Salem is average everywhere else. Average sushi in Salem is lousy sushi by any other standard. The sushi was OK, loosely rolled and tended to fall apart. I kinda had to eat it with my fingers to keep everything together. The ingredients were fresh and well seasoned. I really can't complain about the sushi. It wasn't bad. I neglected to ask them if they were in any way affiliated with the regular Momiji on Commercial. On the menu they listed their name as Momiji Express. And it was! They serve starters, sushi, and crepes. That's it. The miso was exactly the same, milky, with silky tofu, seaweed, and thinly sliced green onions. The sunomono was a little unique, vertical slices about an inch and a half long, seasoned with lemon (quite refreshing) and sprinkled with black sesame seeds. What makes this place a stand-out is the Japanese crepes. They are a taste sensation! They aren't like French crepes because they're crispy and wrapped like a hand-roll and served in a paper cone. The guy there said they serve these on every street corner in Japan. The batter had a strong vanilla flavor and was nice and buttery. Like a softish waffle cone. Got the idea? I was unimaginative and ordered mine filled with custard, strawberries, and chocolate sauce. My daughter started out with custard, bananas, and caramel sauce. Then she went a little wild and ordered one extra crispy with Nutella, whipping cream, and mango. The restaurant itself was really small--5 booths and a sushi bar that sat maybe six. The staff was very nice. Service was fast although they were quite busy. And they have a drive-thru! We'll probably be back throughout the summer for Japanese crepes. Mmmmmm!

While on a roadtrip down the coast, I had a fierce craving for sushi while we were roaming around Portland. I had my dogs in the car, and didn't want go to go anywhere in the city because I wanted to be able to keep an eye on them while eating. I Yelped to find an inexpensive, but tasty sushi spot, and decided to try this spot out. I am glad we did. It was slow, so we sat at the sushi bar. The price was right, the food was on point, and the chefs at the bar were good company. Though a little distance from the freeway, I would definitely venture out there if I was in the area again.

I thought Momiji Crepes and Sushi was great. It is a small sushi bar in Northwest Salem on Silverton Road. The ingredients were all quite fresh and tasty. The chefs and servers were all very friendly and walked the line of friendly yet here to serve very nicely. It is not nearly as stuffy as a lot of sushi places tend to be. I only wish I had read the Yelp! reviews before I went in though... I neglected to try a crepe. Rats. Next time. Oh yeah, they have a drive through, awesome! Especially if it were a drizzly Salem winter day.

I absolutely love this place! The food, service, and prices are great. The place is in a weird location and looks dumpy but what place is Salem looks nice? The place is small, so it's not large group friendly. If you are picky about your sushi then this is probably not your place. It's definitely a step up from getting your sushi off a conveyor belt. All the food is made to order. The Salem Roll and Japanese Crepes are amazing!

This is a great place for sushi in Salem. Honestly, it's better than the south Salem Commercial St Momiji's location. The building is small and out-of-the-way, but the food is fresh and delicious. I had the house hot sake and it was better than most I've tried in Portland. Our waiter was kind and low-key. He let us hem and haw over the menu without acting superior or impatient. The wasabi was flavorful and potent, the ginger smooth and cool. Don't let the location keep you from going here - it is so yummy and priced right with a casual atmosphere. Go!

So I have wanted to try this place for a while and finally stopped in. I tried both the sushi and crepes. Both were most excelent. The sushi was very tasty and fresh. The crepe.. now it was my first japanese crepe and let me tell you... it was great. Next time I feel like sushi or a crepe, I know where I am going.

Salem's best kept secret. Great menu and they are open late (w/ a drive thru window!) The place is owned and managed by these funny, down to earth guys who make the experience that much more enjoyable. I go here everytime I'm in Salem and need my sushi fix.

I think this is the best sushi restaurant in Salem. And I think my vote counts because I'm japanese american and I have eaten at way too many restaurants in Salem OR. I really like their bento. The food is prepared with a lot of care and thought.

This place is so random, in a good way. The sushi isn't the best ever but it's pretty good. The best part...$1 nigiri and $2 beers. Also, they carry a variety of nice sake that can be purchased by the glass or by the bottle to go. This place is worth checking out. It's a good time.

We love this place! Sushi is excellent and fresh, the staff certainly knows their fish- very helpful, and always have great recommendations. It looks like a dive bar from the outside, but don't be fooled! It's an awesome place to go for your late night sushi craving. Highlights: Huge menu, super fresh fish, great prices (especially at happy hour), late night hours.

1st time here. Very good service & food. Shared a Sushi beginner & there was too much. Get to take rest to-go. Yummy Cons: Too bad it is such a small place. Bit pricey Outside looks low class. Don't let that bother you. It is good place inside.

How is this place getting good reviews? I've heard wonderful things of this location specifically and being that it looks like a place I wouldn't purchase a pack of cigarettes, I took my time to give it a try. Upon entering the restaurant I was told it would be a 5 minute wait for my party of four. We waited ONE HOUR and there was nowhere to sit while we waited. The bathroom was nasty and the floor was littered with trash and completely wet with "water" or urine . . . I'm really not sure. After complaining about the wait and ZERO communication about how long it would take, we were told that some people were there for some sort of all you can eat event and that they might be there for even longer. One family was given their check and they immediately produced a payment card. It took the server 15 minutes to grab it because he was flirting with another worker. After being seated and the questionably clean table, we order ridiculously overpriced sushi. But that's okay, because it's really good, right? WRONG. The avocado in my roll was brown, the roll itself was flavorless and disgusting, and it was falling apart the minute the plate was set in front of us. I was told that the California roll I ordered was made with crab, but I was not informed that it was soft shell crab. ICK. Nasty, filthy, disgusting food, staff ignored us the whole time we waited. It was only mid-way through choking down our "meal" that the most polite young man clocked on and gave us the best service ever. I would absolutely NEVER return. Sometimes judging a book by its cover (or by its bathroom) is a good idea.

This is mine & my daughters favorite sushi in Salem! She was quick to judge by the outside of the building but I reassured her how yummy it was. We ordered a variety of the menu & she was not disappointed. Her favorite was the Salem roll. She is learning that all restaurants have their specialities and she really enjoys this one (btw she is 11)

Fresh, high-quality sushi and open late? Yes! Since moving to Salem from Portland I haven't been impressed with a lot of restaurants, but I am so happy Momiji exists. The seafood is absolutely fresh and impeccably prepared. The pictures speak for themselves. If you check-in on Facebook then you get a free crepe. Not much has been mentioned about their crepes but they are also quite tasty and very reasonably priced. This restaurant can give any sushi joint in Portland a run for its money.

The sushi IS excellent. I would go more regularly, and would have given it a 5 star if it were more affordable. I spend $15-$20 on myself every time I eat there. They do have a huge order option that would be good if you had a group of 4-5 people who could split it. They also have an all you can eat option if you DO eat a lot. I usually can only eat 1.5 rolls. Also, hand rolls are my favorite, along with towers. I'm really sad that the cost of one hand roll is the same as a 8 piece roll. Id be in heaven if I could afford to eat here daily!
