Out South in the strip mall near Walmart and Applebees, this tiny whole-in-the-wall is overshadowed by dreck and ignored by all the nearby rubes. But don't ignore this local gem. I am fortunate enough to travel regularly in the Seattle metro area where there are hundreds of Thai food restaurants, and I have yet to find one to top the flavor of this diamond in the rough. They use the standard 1-5 spicy meter, but that is the only standard feature. Most ingredients are local, but authentic. How do they manage that? Fortunately you can cultivate almost anything in the Willamette Valley. What ingredients that cannot be sourced locally are grown by the owners or shipped in by family in Thailand. The result is an outstandlingly fresh explosion of flavors. I have yet to find a disappointing menu item, so pick what appeals your pallet and you won't leave dissatisfied. Portions are huge and for the calorie counters, the menu is vast and plates heavy in veggies are available. The atmosphere is loud and bright to say the least, so I tend to opt for take out. The poor lad who services the place is overworked, but polite and efficient. If you're in town or just a local looking for the best, this is a must try!

Awesome find! It's stuck in a sad corner of a strip mall with the Dollar Store, and its interior is an awful shade of neon green, but the food was spectacular. After a bland-but-not-terrible experience with Tong King's Chinese food, it was a relief to know that inexpensive, delicious Asian food exists in Salem. We got: -the appetizer combo plate (creamy crab wontons, amazing chicken satay, crunchy egg rolls, and chilled spring rolls, which were a little heavy on the cilantro but you could tell everything was fresh and high-quality) -pad thai (predictable but good) -pad see eu (my favorite Thai dish, delicious as always) -duck curry (having never tried curry before, this was a very pleasant surprise. We ordered it mild and it still had a nice slow burn to it.) Not the best place to sit and eat, although you will be entertained by Thai music videos. Treat yourself to some awesome take-out and enjoy this amazing food somewhere less retina-searing.

For me, this is the best Thai food in salem area. I've been here many many times, and their food is constantly good. The portion is big. My favorites are combo appetizer, drunken noodles, lanxang beef, indonesian fried fries, and one of their curry: red, green, yellow, or brown. They are all good. My only input for them is probably they need to work on the decoration little bit. The decor is very minimal, and kinda boring. But still they earn my 5 stars.

I forgot to review this a while back, so here we go. My son and I visited one afternoon when my Vietnamese wife was away on a business trip. There was one young gentleman who seated us, and the place was a little busy, and he appeared a little overwhelmed- in a nice way. I ordered their salad with chicken and it was good enough tasting, although it had like 4 pieces of chicken with it, so a bit on the lean side, me thinks. Against my better judgement and wishes, my Pho loving Vietnamese son ordered the Pho. It was.....different! I am not saying it was bad, but it was a Lao-ish/Thai-ish spin on Pho. I thought it was ok, but my 13 year old is a bit of a purist, and he was not fond of it. It was spendy, too. Me thinks it was ok, but the acid test for me any restaurant is - "Would I go back?". Answer- for the money and what we got, I dont think so.
(2)Alvin M.
Hole in the wall for sure! I ordered the Pho and it was great. They used celery in the broth and it created a different flavor that sets this Pho apart from everywhere else. A Pho purist would crap a cow but who cares!
(4)Mary K.
a friend and i had lunch here yesterday,,each ordered a dish and we shared them. green curry with pork and lemongrass chicken......asked for level 5 spice. they both were delicious, fresh tasting and a lot of food. atmosphere is bright and casual, service very quick. a nice place to have lunch
(4)Tami R.
The food was okay. The wait and service was terrible and I am a very forgiving person!! We waited 1 hour and 25 minutes for our meal. Luckily we were not in a hurry or we would of just left. We will not be back.
(1)Kimberly O.
this resturant is really wonderful. The food was full of flavor and the portion size was large. They do refills on the thai tea without extra charge. I will be a returning customer.
(5)Trygg L.
Great little family restaurant. Superb pho which doesn't have to be beef! We also get chicken and shrimp.. Pretty much all is good-natured noodles, rice, curry! Highly recommended.
(4)T. S.
This place is so~ yummy!! I'm addicted to their Drunken noodles, but everything on their menu is delicious!! If you haven't been here yet, you gotta give them a try.
(5)Cyrus C.
I love eating at Lanxang Lao Thai. I don't know why I like it so much more than other Thai restaurants, perhaps it's because the ingredients always taste fresh? Or maybe it's the reasonable prices? Or heck, it could even be the super odd two-tone paint job in there (probably not though). Or the universal spicy sign given by the waiter kid (hand waving in front of mouth) and the degrees of 1-5, don't ask for 5 unless your ready for an out of body experience. Or is it having to wait for the 10 take out orders in front of me, laughing as they see me salivate over their food? Whatever it is, even through the few annoyances (why is it soo far in south Salem?) my wife and I enjoy our meal every time. The food is bottom line great. p.s. The red and yellow curries are fantastic.
(5)Anne P.
We only order their food to-go because we can't stomach the lime green walls and plastic chairs with wobbly tables. But we live close by, so it's no problem. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their Tom Ka Gai (coconut curry soup). We get it every time. We also always order the salad rolls. Some of their noodle dishes are a little too sweet for me, so we stick to the curries, but this is a great little unassuming place for delicious Thai food, even if the atmosphere is a little obnoxious.
(4)Erika M.
I tried this place on a whim, the parking lot really leaves something to be desired, but the food is absolutely DELICIOUS! Basically anything curry I will eat within minutes. I have not had one item off this menu that I haven't loved...and believe me I am a repeat visitor. Fried rice, chicken satay and curry makes me a happy camper :) !!
(4)Joshua G.
Great little funky authentic tasting Thai food place, complete with Thai pop music videos playing on TVs inside. Captures a little snippet of the funky weirdness that is indigenous to parts of Thailand. Very solid food. Especially for Salem.
(4)Alisha D.
Chicken Phad Thai and Crab Cakes are delicious. Next time, I think I'll get it to go. The bright lime-green walls are a trip.
(4)Kelley R.
We call this place Crack Thai. You crave it like a drug. Nuff said. They used to have a punch card, not sure if they still do. I love this place. Cons: The person who designed the parking lot was insane. I saw this on dirty dining a few years ago. My friend worked at the tanning salon next door and said there are cockroaches. I still like the food!
(4)Krystle C.
Bright green walls, Asian music videos, decent service, and AWESOME FOOD. Yummy pad thai (in fact, I'm eating the leftovers right now), good spring roll appetizers with GREAT sauce. I've had the larb before and that was excellent too. My mom ordered #43: tomato, basil, and thick, chewy noodles. My boyfriend ordered deep fried noodles with mushroom & prawns (don't remember the name or number). I sampled both and both were delicious (especially the sauces). Eat the deep fried noodles quick, though, before they get soggy! I drove down there all the way from Troutdale just for this restaurant. I took my mom there two years ago when I lived in Salem and she was visiting from Texas; she's been craving going back ever since, so I happily obliged :) One drawback - there's only one dessert, the coconut rice with mango (and it's super tasty). But, when I tried to order, they said mango's out of season, so they don't serve it. I was disappointed, but at least they refuse to use mangoes from far-off lands. Yay low ecological footprint. :P
(5)Elaine G.
I've been going here for dinner for several years now. Often I am there after normal dinner times so keep that in mind when I say service is exceptionally fast. Service is also very courteous and helpful. The food is always excellent. The bright green walls made me cringe at first but I have grown fond of them now. It's always my first choice for Thai food even though it's way on the other end of town for me. The only time I was disappointed was when we went all the way out there only to discover they are not open on Mondays.
(4)Suzanne J.
Hands down, the best Thai restaurant in Salem! Delicious! I particularly like the Thai music videos!
(4)Kimmy H.
I'm not sure why Salem happens to have so many fabulous Thai places, but it does. Other cities tend to disappoint. Lanxang is one of my favorites. It's a hole-in-the-wall ma and pa style restaurant with blindingly green walls but delicious food. The Pad Thai and curry dishes are quite good. Oh, and don't forget the Thai iced tea. What's Thai food without that? They use a standard 1-5 heat scale. They also always have Thai music videos playing on the TV, which I think is kind of fun.
(5)Jesse N.
First off, I'm not a particular thai fan, mostly because I don't enjoy curry (I'm a wimp). But, this place makes some great dishes, and for some reason the leftovers taste better the next day. My favorite thing here was one of their crab pop appetizers (you see these things everywhere, but they are all different). The sauce these come with is extremely tasty. Just a touch pricy for the food but overall a great experience. Glad we have places like this nearby.
(4)Amanda Mouang S.
Best thai place in salem. I would drive across town just to eat here. The people here are great along with the price and portions. You get the real stuff here no water down curry like what you will get at thai beer. No offense.
(5)Zoe G.
Sandwiched in a dreary stripmall in beige-ville usa, I stumbled across this joint whilst on the long drive from Portland to the bay area. The Tom Yum Gai was pretty heavenly, and my friend bid me serve him seconds, thirds, and even fourths, as he gobbled that soup down like it was ambrosia or somethin and declared it some of the best he'd ever tasted. The red curry was great. The service was good. The walls were quite green. I think we ordered something else but I can't remember because I was a bit starry-eyed and I tend to let details slip by in such a state.
(5)Wendell H.
The Pho was decent and may be quite good in the books of many, but Kim Huong has set a pretty high bar for me. Still, it was pretty good and I would likely go back since it's half a block away from home.
(3)Janine S.
Cheap and great tasting Thai food? Love it! Tucked in the middle of a tiny strip mall, Lanxang (I don't know how to pronounce it either) is where I come to for a quick dinner whenever I'm in Salem. I've been here on 2 different occasions and both times have been extremely satisfied. The first time I had some phad thai and a thai coffee, and it tasted great. The Korean music videos and green walls are a bit out of place for the restaurant, but add some interesting aspects to the facility. The service is quick and friendly, both times it seems like a younger gentleman was the only server. The second time around, I had the Indonesian fried rice for take out. Excellent choice! It wasn't greasy or too light, it had just the right amount of flavor, with an added delightful touch of basil. Highly recommended for a quick and casual meal, I was surprised to find such great Thai food in such a small city!
(5)Vin T.
Even the chicken tastes like fish.
(2)Karlene D.
Based on the previous reviews, I ordered fresh spring rolls, chicken satay & pad thai. All were flavorful & well priced. Spring rolls were big & fresh, chicken satay was tender & pad thai was tasty & plentiful. Although we were driving through town, I would go back if in the area again.
(4)Michael M.
I have eaten here twice so far, and my wife probably a half-dozen times, and we haven't been disappointed yet (we try something different each visit). The food is fresh tasting and reasonably priced. The staff has been friendly and provided good service, but I can see how they might be overworked during a busy time. The decor is bit plain, and the walls quite bright, but I seem to be able to ignore that and focus on the good food. It also appears very clean inside.
(4)Yasmien H.
I gave this place a second chance. And it was good. I didn't get the Pad Thai this time, I got the basil/chicken dish. It was good. I would come back here if I was ever in the mood for Thai.
(3)K C.
Very good Thai food, I've yet to get a bad meal here. Love their yellow curry!
(4)Roger S.
this is real deal Thai food, from scratch cooking. you come here for the food not the ambiance. enjoy tea or some other beverage but no alcohol is served here. their food is super fresh and they take care to each item how they put their meals together. so you give up something for some other things that you are really enjoy. enjoy a great meal there.
(4)G D.
I love the pad cashew here. .. the service is always great and portions are large! The resturant is clean and waiters are at your table within two minutes. The menu is healthy and portions are large.
(4)Bob S.
Great service and food. The flavor is great and dont forget your stamp card cause after 12 dishes the 13th is free
(5)Joe H.
Much better this time as we were one of two tables in the establishment. Food is very good and would return. Hopefully they can find a better location with their successful business. Cafeteria style seating isn't my favorite.
(4)Carol N.
Surprisingly good but not amazing. The portion is okay. I was expecting leftover but there was none. I will go back again.
(4)Linda B.
We have stopped here several times on our way thru from southern Oregon to Seattle and never had a meal that we didn't thoroughly enjoy! My favorite is the green curry-I like it on the spicy hot side! You can choose the level of hot you want from 1 to 5. I like it 4!! The waiter was very pleasant and accommodating. Service is fast, but the meal is fresh and hot.
(5)Tracie O.
First Thai restaurant since living in Salem. I must say wow it was really good and jus like back home. Huge size portion and very reasonable price. The tofu padtai is delicious. Always leftovers for the next day. The wait time is fast... it's one of my favorite places to eat
(5)Carlos T.
If I was in a metro city with a greater selection of thai restaurants, Lanxang may have received less stars, but for Salem, this is good food. I've been here countless times and I will come back. Today, I was here with a business associate for lunch. Their lunch plates are generally designed not to be shared (for example, her curry came in a small bowl on a plate with a serving of rice). I ordered the Pad See Ew with pork. We both had the Thai Iced Tea. We asked for an extra plate and shared our meal. My business associate joked in a text exchange with me because she got to Lanxang before I did. She said, "I'm here at the Thai restaurant where the mafia meet." "It's shady for sure." I don't go there for the ambiance. Everything is functional, not pretty, not well lit. There is often thai music playing in the background, but today, the television was on a Spanish language "football" game. Today, our food came out quickly. That's not always the case. The service is always friendly.
(4)Peter H.
Really authentic and not whitewashed. I had green curry with chicken medium spicy and pad kee mao medium spicy. The food was excellent. The service was good. Overall a very good place for Thai/Lao food!
(4)Kathryn J.
I love Lanxang. It serves, by far, the best Thai food in Salem. My two favorite dishes are the Tom Ginger soup (incredibly flavorful with tons of ginger and lemongrass) and the Lanxang salad (delicious with the right combination of ingredients). The decor is simple with some sort of Asian MTV playing in the background. They have finally removed the chopsticks that used to have a permanent residency at the tables (you would never find chopsticks in Thailand, unless you were eating at a Chinese restaurant). The main waiter is a young man who has rotating hair colors and is super friendly and a very hard worker - often managing the dine in patrons and the perpetual to go orders alone. This restaurant can get incredibly busy. I often find myself waiting a long time for my food during the dinner hours. The food is so good it is worth the wait.
(5)Jim J.
I tried this today and was very impressed. I had the drunkin noodles it was ok. My wife had the chicken and vegetables with sweet and sour sauce, that sweet and sour sauce was the best we had ever had.
(4)C C.
This is one of the better place for Thai in South Salem. Really good food. If you order something with shrimp they are big and tasty. Tofu is really good too. Excellent hot & sour soup - I think it's call lanxang ..... Something.
(5)London L.
I came here for the first time and was very happy. Service was great. I got fresh spring rolls, which I LOVED, and mango fried rice which was super yummy. I will definitely come again.
(5)Liana L.
Omg their portions to go are generous. I had the mango fried rice with grilled prawns. The rice was flavorful and prawns cooked to perfection. Lots mango and shrimp in the fully packed container. Mango stick rice is amazing as well!! The decor was bleek, but food so worth the trip. Will be calling ahead in the future.
(5)Ragan M.
We are always happy trying new things at this restaurant because everything has been fresh and delicious!
(5)Nicole D.
We drive up here from Eugene specifically to get food from this place. There isn't any Thai in Eugene that can compete, so it's worth the drive. I like my food to be like a damn volcano (while my male counterpart likes his weaker than water) and this place will serve me volcano food. A lot of other places don't do that, you tell them to make it a 5 or whatever and they come back with something that barely makes you sniffle. So for me it's nice to find a place that not only has good food, but that will actually make it how I ask for it. After all, isn't the customer always right?
(5)Rachael B.
I am sad to have to give one star but no matter how wonderful the food is, it doesn't go down well with an hour wait and no apologies or anything when the reason your food was so late was because they forgot to make it. This left a sour taste in my mouth!
(1)Sarah W.
loved everything! The food was amazing, and i enjoyed listening to Kpop while i ate. I recommend Larb; it's a very unique traditional party dish. i also recommend Thai Ice Tea because that's always the best drink at a Thai restaurant
(4)Jess C.
The absolute best green curry I've ever had, it's so delicious. The mild has just enough spice to give a little burn, so if you're spice-sensitive, definitely go mild. If you like spice though, they will not disappoint. Also, their portions are huge! I frequently get take out, and it's enough for three meals for me if I make a little extra rice at home.
(5)Andy K.
Great food, great prices, very nice and clean restaurant. I think they mainly do take out. The location is convenient but difficult to find parking at rush times. They have the best Thai food in Salem. Give them a try!
(4)Gerald B.
12/12/2012 Tom kah was packed with large shrimp and quality mushrooms, I found the broth to be a bit weak - not well developed. But it was good, about average. Som tum was basic, no frills... papaya, tomatoes and a little finely ground peanut. While it was not freshly shredded, it had enough crunch left to satisfy. Dressing leaned toward the fish sauce side of the balance. It was a little bellow average for my tastes. Waiter was fast, clean and friendly. Food came quickly.
(3)Lee N.
Although I can't pronounce the name, this is definitely the best Thai in Salem! The atmosphere is very basic but I love the crazy Thai music videos they always play. The service is always fast and friendly and the prices are reasonable. I would give this place five stars but I had to dock them one star because they only have white rice and I prefer brown :( If you are looking for a speedy, low key meal with great flavor, this is the place to go!
(4)M R.
Favorite Thai restaurant in town! Always amazing food and great service as well. With so many incredible tasty dishes it's hard to pick favorites but lemongrass chicken, king dong, fresh spring rolls, chicken satay, mango sticky rice are all delicious. Also if you haven't tried their fresh brewed Thai iced tea you're in for a treat.
(5)Michael T.
Had the fresh spring rolls and the duck curry. Took awhile to get the food but that was ok I could tell they were very busy. When the food came out it was amazing.
(4)Phil H.
Always good Thai food. Typically get the Pho, drunken noodles, or curry. All are tasty. Call in for pick up for great service. They have a frequent diner card - make sure to get that as well. Tasty!
(4)Lutrinae A.
Lanxang is awesome! My husband and I go here regularly. We try a new item off the menu every single time and everything is really good. I've had the drunken noodles, pad thai, pad king, pad asparagus, lanxang fried rice, mussaman curry and a few other dishes. Everything is amazing!
(5)Aaron W.
(Meant to post this a while back, but somehow forgot to do so) My previous visit to Lanxang may have immensely disappointed me, but I opted to give them another shot in mid-August, a year removed from my last review here. I had lunch with one of my friends as usual. We arrived right around 11 a.m., among the first ones there that day. I brought my appetite and went for the foodie jugular. We first shared a plate of fresh spring rolls ($6.50). It's really three thick rolls wrapped with rice paper, then cut in half, paired with a lovely (slightly sweet) dipping sauce containing what looked like crushed peanuts. Choice of shrimp or tofu, and we got the shrimp. Excellent tight wrapping, very refreshing on a hot day. And since it was a hot day, I followed true panda logic and got spicy curry. This time, a yellow chicken curry beckoned to me ($8.45): choice of meat, coconut milk, bell peppers, carrots, and potatoes. Not surprisingly, I requested extra spicy. Probably one of the better yellow curries I've had, quickly making me forget about my rather-forgettable 2011 experience. Ideal consistency from the coconut milk, moist chicken, and perfectly cooked sliced vegetables. I guess I should have made it clear I wanted it "Thai extra hot," because this really wasn't spicy for me. Didn't even break a damn sweat. Robbed me of my chance to burn calories while eating! Our server also gave us a complementary bowl of vegetable soup. No problems here, delicious stuff. My friend enjoyed her huge portion of chicken Pad Kee Mao ($8.45) and ended up taking half of it home. Didn't have to worry about food for the next couple days, I suppose! Well played, Lanxang. Well played. Just don't be timid on amping up the heat, and we very well may have a wonderful relationship.
(4)Julie E.
I love thai food. Pad Thai is my most favorite meal. I've had some amazing Thai meals across the country. When I moved to Salem I was nervous to try finding a new Thai place. I read through reviews and were impressed with the reviews left for this place so I decided to give it a try. 1) I've never had pad Thai that was straight noodles with just a couple pieces of tofu. Every meal I've had comes with veggies, it's a little saucy, and full of flavor. This order I got was nothing but a mass of dry noodles. 2) the noodles had no flavor, it actually had a sugary taste that was nasty. 3) the noodles tasted like they had been microwaved, they were like rubber and all stuck together. I couldn't twist my fork in the mass of noodles, instead I'd stick my fork in and the whole large mass of noodles came up. 4) about 20 minutes after eating about 5 or 6 bites I ran to the bathroom to puke it all up. Normally I give a place 2 tries, not this place. I'm scarred for life.
(1)Kate D.
This is by far the best Thai in town. As mentioned by other reviewers, the décor leaves something to be desired, but that is typical in my experience with Thai restaurants. The prices are reasonable- $9 for a large curry. It's an excellent take out place for a busy evening where you need to grab something quick for the family. They have a frequent buyers card as well. My personal favorites are red curry and pad kee mow, a friend swears by the fried rice. The one concern I would mention is that there is a single waiter most days so for busy lunches service can take a bit. The few times that's happened I've just gotten it to go.
(5)John B.
I've traveled a bit in Thailand, and I think the food here is better than most of the food I had there. Totally worth the greenbacks!
(4)Elijah B.
Although a little pricey, this place serves great Thai Food in the Salem area. When Thai Orchid closed, I was in search a good place to go for lunch. The interior is, as pointed out, not the most attractive, but can be overlooked by their good food. They have also been very cordial when I have eaten there. I recommend them, especially when compared to other Thai Food places near S. Salem.
(4)Christina P.
Don't let the tacky, barf green walls fool you, the Thai here is Delicious! Flavorful with fresh ingredients. I got the yellow curry with sticky rice (big fan they had that) which was very good! Good taste and fresh ingredients. My friends got pad Thai and pho. Both were fresh as well and very good. It wasn't overly busy but was still a little slow to come get our order. Great portion size for the price. Definitely will be coming back!
(4)K E.
Always quick and friendly service, never disappointed with the pho and spicy pad prik. Great price and the punch card is a def plus! I always do take out and while waiting for an order to go, you often receive a complimentary cup of soup.
(5)Paul S.
You'd think, since I live in Los Angeles, that I would have had better Thai than this before. But I'm not sure that's possible.
(5)Jake C.
Good service! Their Thai tea is good since they don't serve alcohol. Had the lanxang beef. You rate the spiciness of ur food from 1 to 5. I had 3. Which was perfect. fresh veggies . Lots of flavor. Long grain rice so it reminded me of minute rice.
(3)Lana G.
After we moved from Salem to Tigard twelve years ago, we tried Lanxang a couple of times, during visits with Salem friends. The Thai iced coffee and tea are very good. After our recent move back to Salem, Lana lunched at Lanxang and pronounced the pad Thai excellent. Very recently, a friend of mine and I also tried the pad Thai for lunch and we, too, thought it very good. Couple that with the very good pad kee mao I mention below and it appears that Lanxang's rice pasta dishes typically are very good. When selecting and rating restaurant, what a restaurant does well is critical information. In this case, it entitles Lanxang to a rating upgrade, from three stars to four. Lanxang does have some failings. As remarked by another Yelper, the name is unpronounceable and, as remarked by several, it is rather green. In addition, the decor is spartan. The beer and wine list is beyond spartan: there isn't any. In light of the vinyl atmosphere and lack of alcohol, we tried takeout for dinner. All the portions were huge, twice the size you would expect, with no need to say, "Supersize me!" The pad kee mao was very good. The salad rolls, which Lanxang denominates "fresh spring rolls," were comprised of a flavorless white spaghetti, lots of lettuce, scads of shredded carrots and just a bit of flavorless raw shrimp. Each huge roll was a meal in itself and there were three of them, which was two too many, because they tasted like a Calvinist vegetarian's dream of something that is good for you. The larb lacked heat and, even with a proper quantity of spice, it would not have been the best larb we've ever eaten. The white rice -- well, we avoid white foods and we'd already eaten our fill of white spaghetti.

Expensive but enjoyable. Really like the combination of flavors. Really bright green walls. Kind of awkward parking.
(4)Paige C.
We went here for the second time today. The first time was soon after opening and things took a long time, but the food was good. Service was faster today, though we came on the early end of the lunch hour and things got busier as we ate. There was only one server, who was doing a great job. The only problem we had was when we were done and wanted our bill and some to-go containers. We did wait for at least 5 minutes, but I was watching him the whole time and he was darting all over the place, so I forgave him. We decided to go to the counter (which might be the preferred way anyway) and the bill and to-go containers were handled within 2 minutes. The food: Salad Rolls: I liked that these had more vegetables and fewer rice noodles than most salad rolls. We got the tofu version and the tofu was still warm from the fryer. They came with a clear sweet-and-sour sauce, which was good with a bit of a kick but I do prefer a peanut-hoisin sauce. Pineapple Fried Rice: I only had a bite and enjoyed it. My boyfriend said it was great, though he loves when restaurants put raisins in it. As a spice-phobic kind of guy, he appreciated that "zero stars" really meant no heat. Tom Yum with Tofu: This soup had great flavor, and the texture of the fried tofu really complimented it. It was very rich and salty, and really needed some of the accompanying rice stirred in to temper the flavor. I was hoping for more of a light, brothy version that didn't require rice, but that's just a personal preference thing. In all, I enjoy this place.

Great thai food. Came here for my birthday dinner. Recently came back from japan, so I'm used to small japanese sized proportions. I ordered the green curry, pad thai, tom ka chicken, and fresh spring rolls. SO MUCH FOOD. Had leftovers for both my sister and me. The waiter was overworked being the only one, but he was very friendly and worked as fast as he could. The interior is brightly colored, not fancy but not run down either. There were only two of us so it was a bit of a bummer that all the food came at once. Would have been nice to get bits at a time, in courses. Perhaps that's not american style tho. Also there is only one cook so it was a bit of a wait before we got our food. Still, if your looking for great thai flavor this is the spot!

Easily the best, most authentic thai food in Salem! At first bite you can tell that the owners don't skimp on making sure they use the proper ingredients to prepare their dishes. The food is relatively cheap and prepared quickly. The dining room and decor is very basic, if not a bit strange (because of the color choice on the walls), but I do like that they almost always have thai music videos playing on their television. After having tried just about all of the other thai places in Salem, this one is easily the best.

Awesome food. Very fresh. Lots if clean flavors. You wait may be 20+ minutes for an appetizer but it's worth it! Very casual atmosphere. The green walls were a trip. Kinds "hole in the wall" but extremely good tasting food. Got our punch card and will be back! Would gave given 5 stars if service was faster.
(4)Kimberly G.
Great food, friendly staff and reasonably fast service. I love this place!
(5)Ali R.
Lacks decor, but the food is very fresh tasting. Good service.

We found this little gem by accident. The unbelievably tender and flavorful chicken satay coupled with the sauce samplers is truly the best we've ever tasted and gave us a glimpse of what was yet to come. My daughter - the official Pad Thai critic - gave it her stamp of approval with two thumbs up. My husband and I savored the pork green curry with delight. The spice level was perfect and the portion sizes were large. The prices are very much in line with other Thai restaurants in the area. The lime green interior is a little surprising at first but if we're being honest here, they could paint a rainbow theme and I'd come back! If you enjoy Thai food you owe it to yourself to give Lanxang Lao Thai a try.

Food was mediocre at best. Service was horrendous. Not worth the wait IMO

We LOVE this restaurant! Ever since I found out about it, we are always finding some excuse to get take out...Our favorite dish is the Pad Cashew, their brown sauce is delicious!
(5)M. G.
I love Thai food and small mom and pop places tend to have the best flavors. I really enjoyed the food here and would recommend this restaurant highly. The spring rolls were huge! The larb was perfect. The flavor of the panang curry was well rounded but I felt that it was missing some of the kafir lime zest that I expect. Beware the intense green walls as they may blind you at first.

(4)Amanda Mouang S.
Best thai place in salem. I would drive across town just to eat here. The people here are great along with the price and portions. You get the real stuff here no water down curry like what you will get at thai beer. No offense.

(5)Laura D.

(4)Jason D.

(4)Alisha D.
Chicken Phad Thai and Crab Cakes are delicious. Next time, I think I'll get it to go. The bright lime-green walls are a trip.
(4)Roger S.
this is real deal Thai food, from scratch cooking. you come here for the food not the ambiance. enjoy tea or some other beverage but no alcohol is served here. their food is super fresh and they take care to each item how they put their meals together. so you give up something for some other things that you are really enjoy. enjoy a great meal there.
(4)Jake C.
Good service! Their Thai tea is good since they don't serve alcohol. Had the lanxang beef. You rate the spiciness of ur food from 1 to 5. I had 3. Which was perfect. fresh veggies . Lots of flavor. Long grain rice so it reminded me of minute rice.
(3)Julie E.
(5)Erwin P.
(5)Bob V.
(4)Lana G.
(4)Katy L.
Expensive but enjoyable. Really like the combination of flavors. Really bright green walls. Kind of awkward parking.
(4)Mary K.
a friend and i had lunch here yesterday,,each ordered a dish and we shared them. green curry with pork and lemongrass chicken......asked for level 5 spice. they both were delicious, fresh tasting and a lot of food. atmosphere is bright and casual, service very quick. a nice place to have lunch

Great little funky authentic tasting Thai food place, complete with Thai pop music videos playing on TVs inside. Captures a little snippet of the funky weirdness that is indigenous to parts of Thailand. Very solid food. Especially for Salem.
