This place has gone down hill badly over the years badly. I was in a few years ago, i do not live near so visit in irregular intervals, but came back because i remembered the food was decent the last time i was in. I was embarrassed at how bad the food was for bringing my friend here. Stopped by, had salad and pasta. It was a Friday night, the customers in the place were light. The salad was a plain non-organic, ice-berg lettuce, it was gross i could taste the pesticides and that it wasn't fresh. The croutons were curiously good, perhaps a specialty recipe. The only redeeming quality was the fat girl portioned salad dressing to cover things up. The pasta was plain, it was a little bit undercooked, it was topped with unworthy sauces that tasted like they were straight out of a grocery store container. The plate was not decorated at all, it was just one item on the place, no side garnish or accent item on it. My friend's plate was equally not visually appealing and rather plain for a pasta dish. The dishes needed healthy quantities of pepper, red-pepper flakes, and parm. cheese to fix them. The plates were very expensive for uninspired food that we received. The bread-sticks were served with plain butter, nice touch with the bread-sticks, suggest serving them with a more creative dipping item. The place was not worth the amount of money they were charging on the menu. The front entrance has a strange appearance of a mafia family which is a nice theme, it could use some windows out onto the strip mall. This business will probably close if it doesn't fit its fundamentals.

Geppetto's has been one of Salem's oldest Italian restaurants and among the most recognized despite being hidden in the mall complex along Lancaster Drive. The family owned establishment features standard Italian fare including the popular homemade pizzas. While the service can vary at times, there is no denying the food is good, the decor is decent, and the prices are reasonable. Recommended for dinner time only, as lunch time the place is usually slow.

Family run and owned, Geppetto's can be hard to find, hidden in the same complex as Michael's and Hometown Buffet on Lancaster. It has a casual, family ambiance and offers "home-cooked" Italian cusine. They make their own pizzas, which is one of their most popular items, as well as a nice selection of pastas and other standard Italian fare. The food is good, prices are reasonable, but service can be variable.

In house, the food's great, but for some reason their delivery falls short. I've tried it three times and each time the guy answering the phone has been rude, and the food has been luke warm at best, and a little flavorless, when it got here. It's funny because if you go INTO the restaurant, it's an entirely different story. I love the food and the atmosphere, although the service isn't great.

We stopped there once on our way to Canada. My husband and I still have a running joke about how this was the worst restaurant we'd ever been to and it's still #1 on our list. Between the container of stale who knows how long they've been sitting there breadsticks, frozen & nuked lasagna, tortellini soup that consisted of little more than a reconstituted chicken bullion cube and 3 frozen tortellini, and the frozen sara lee dessert, it was a bounty of really bad food. Can't believe this place is still open. I only hope things have greatly improved.

This review is based on an experience couple years ago. i dont know how much it improved. First off all, I had delivery. The food wasnt even lukewarm. It tasted bad. I still remember that. It looked like they went to safeway and bought spaghetti sauce and pour it on the spaghetti. The breadstick..yuck?

If you are looking for outstanding Italian food... And extraordinary pizza, Geppettos is the place. It is one of the favorite parts of coming home to me!!! Excellent atmosphere, friendly service, and great food for over 30 years!

There is a strategic way to order from this menu and I never remember until it's too late. Order the small plates. There will be plenty of food. The food is good and home-made (unlike Olive Garden). If you like independent restaurants this is a good choice.

I got the cannelloni and it was awful. It had this horrible super cheap cheese on top and inside along with the ricotta and sausage. The decor was okay and the waitress was really nice.

Excellent service and food. Nothing canned or frozen here. It is very obvious this restaurant cooks from scratch. The lasagna I ordered was very tasty. I really enjoyed it. The salad was great and they had a nice selection of draft and bottled beers. It's in a shopping center, but has been since 1974. Thanks for a great meal!

I grab a pizza from t his place every few weeks. Easily the best place for pizza in Salem. But that's not really saying much. But I like the style of pizza.

The bread: so, so bad. More like Irish soda bread, or drop-biscuits even, or hard tack. The marinara sauce: tasted like enchilada sauce. The house "creamy garlic" dressing was obviously mayonnaise. But: the meat sauce tasted real to me. I usually don't order "meat sauce" anywhere because in my experience that tends to mean hamburger browned and then stirred into tomato paste. This tasted like the meat was cooked all night in the sauce (the traditional way). I could see why their "marinara" was so bad: it was just the meat sauce without the meat. But the meat is the main thing that gives "sunday gravy" its flavor. That's what their meat sauce is: sunday gravy, and it is pretty dang decent. If you take the meat out of sunday gravy however, you have to add a ton of spices to make up for it. I think they just don't know any better. Also the ravioli are homemade and very good. Order something with the meat sauce and you won't be disappointed. Very dated decor, but who cares? Awkward layout - I agree with a previous Yelper that I felt stared-down by the kitchen staff as I came in. But who cares? And the service was adequate, if a little inexperienced. Honestly someone should go through their entire menu and highlight the stuff that is obviously made following the recipe of someone's grandmother (delicious) and also marking the misguided attempts to update the menu for a broader palate (yuck). There are really some gems here but if you happen to order spaghetti with marinara sauce the first time, you are going to come away thinking that this place is nasty nasty.

An old-school establishment with an old-school hesitance when it comes to seasonings. I got the Spaghetti alla Trapanese, while my mom ordered the Ma's Ravioli. Mom didn't mind the Ma's as much as I did. For supposedly-homemade ravioli, the pasta and sauce tasted uncannily like Chef Boyardee. My entree wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't what I expected. The menu had indicated that the vegetables had been tossed in pesto, which coulda fooled me - you could see a few herby specks here and there, but the basil flavor was nearly impossible to detect. I probably wouldn't have gulped down the tortellini soup that came with my order so eagerly if my germy sinuses hadn't needed a little flush. No veggies, no spices, no herbs - just broth, tortellini, and a little too much sodium. Speaking of old-school, Geppetto's probably has the last wine list in town that features Riunite on ice. That's nice.

This place hasn't changed much in the 20 years I have lived in Salem. The pizza is very Chicago. The sauce is powerful and quality. The house signature sausages are perfect. The daily buffet is small and good. Not sure why the scalloped spuds- must be a tradition. The salad bar is also small, but you can make a great salad from the items. The waitress hasn't changed in twenty years either. She remembers who you are, and always efficient. Their food is not mass produced stuff like some of the other Italian restaurants.

So tricky to review. I dislike the service (everyone in the kitchen when you enter stares you down... awkward). I dislike the atmosphere (cheap looking and crowded... looks dated).... breadsticks totally gross (hard and served with a scoop of butter? Umm kay)..... But then again... the food is sooooooooo good. NOTE:DON"T GET A HAMBURGER. very gross here. So is the salad. But if you come to an italian restaurant and order italian then you are in for a delicious treat! The ravioli is fantastic, the chicken mushroom fettuccine sooo good and you are served plenty! Pizza is super good! with great ingredients and tradition. Their rasberry italian soda's are sooo good too. :) I've never seen this restaurant crowded ... its good for large groups and its casual dress,. and decent priced. Dimly lit.

Geppetto's is really almost two different restaurants in one place. First, there is their pizza, available thin crust, thick crust, and (our favorite) Chicago-style stuffed. Toppings/stuffings range from the traditional to gourmet-ish. We have been eating their stuffed pizzas since we lived in Salem in the late 1980s. When we lived in Portland, we would often stop at Geppetto's if we were northbound on I-5 from Eugene and bring a stuffed pizza home. (The closest thing we could find in Portland then was Deniccola's in SE Portland.) Yes, the stuffed pizza is that good (I dunno about the other crust styles--the stuffed is so good and unique in the area that we have never ordered the others). And they deliver. Allow 45-minutes to an hour for a stuffed pizza, as they take longer to bake. One or two pieces will feed most hungry people--three for a hungry teenager or someone with a black hole for a stomach. Second, they also serve some pretty tasty homestyle Italian food in a kinda cheesy 1950s Italian-American red-and-white-checked tablecloth atmosphere. Their pasta dishes are always tasty--not gourmet, but always good. The service has always been good--sometimes really good. If you want to make your server's day, go there for a leisurely meal. Order an appetizer, some house red wine, a salad, maybe some soup, and an entree. The waitstaff (aside from the fact that they get a bigger tip) really seems to appreciate it when their guests really enjoy their meal. And don't forget to save room for some frozen tortoni for dessert! I don't know of any other place in Salem that offers this treat. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, as it is in a strip mall and has no windows--just a sign and a door. Good stuff, though--good for families or couples looking for something better than Olive Garden that won't break the bank or require you to speak Italian.

I came here with my parents during a family vacation when I was about 10 years old, and we all remember having a good time and great food. So when my mom and I were in the area last weekend we were excited to be able to go back. Unfortunately we probably won't be visiting again. The service was good and our waitress was really nice, otherwise I would have given this place a 2 star rating instead. She was cheerful and gave us refills quickly and often. The food however was very disappointing. I had the bay shrimp and linguine and it had virtually no flavor. My mom had the manicotti which was okay. Our meals included a bread basket, but it only had 2 really small pieces of bread and that was it. We could hardly believe our bill came to $50! Maybe we just didn't order the right entrees, but we just didn't feel our food was worth that much.

Rating on taste alone, the pizza was gross. The sauce has this strange taste about it. I think maybe they use too many herbs and not enough salt. Also, the dough is really under baked. Thin crust usually has that...you know, crust? Well not this one. It's more like rubber. Deep dish wasn't impressive either. Once again, dough was under baked, and the toppings just taste off. Not spoiled or anything but something is just different. The calamari was not fresh but the mushrooms and tiramisu were tolerable. Delivery came fairly quickly, but I'm still hungry because this pizza isn't up to my standard.

If you're anything like me, you've spent many a sleepless night deep in pondering thought... I wonder exactly what it would be like to eat a can of lukewarm Chef Boy-ar-dee in a time machine with the dial permanently set to 1971. Look no further; Geppetto's Italian Restaurant is for you! Conveniently located in a ran down strip mall where you can easily buy cat food and office supplies while you wait for a table, Geppetto's has an item for even the most unsophisticated of palates. But first warm up your appetite by digging into the staple of all fine Italian eateries, the bottomless breadsticks. Are they warm, soft, and smothered in savory garlic butter? Or are they crusty, rustic Italian bread with olive oil and a splash balsamic vinegar with fresh ground pepper? Nope! Geppetto's version of "breadsticks" is a small cup filled with hard stick pretzels, like the kind you get in the convenience store snack aisle next to the potato chips. The plastic plates are a perfect match for the depressing atmosphere. Geppetto's must have gotten quite a steal from the Del Griffith-esque hospital cafeteria dinnerware salesman. I go out for dinner to eat food I know I couldn't make myself. The fettuccine alfredo I ordered was pedestrian and uninspired, something even I could put together and I've been known to overcook water. But, but, but.. Don't fret! This experience can be yours, too, for about the same price as a nice meal at Olive Garden. 1 out of 5 baskettis, would not recommended.

Came here for lunch the other day. We had been trying to come here for quite some time but for some reason it was always closed when we stopped by. Anyway it was finally open so we came in for lunch. The place is kind of dark and you walk toward the back of the restaurant past the enclosed bar area and the pizza counter to get to the seating. They had a lunch buffet that was was VERY reasonable at $6 I think it was. The buffet wasn't very large, a small salad bar with maybe a dozen toppings and then a hot bar with 2 pizza types, and about 4-5 other items including chicken breast, scalloped potatoes and other misc items. Overall I thought the food was good but a bit on the bland side but I always find buffet food to be a bit bland. There was enough food there for me to eat and find something I liked. But don't go in expecting Izzy's or Hometown, there is a reason why it's so much cheaper than they are. Our server was extremely nice and was quick on service. I wouldn't be much more than half through my drink and he was refilling it. This guy is what made the meal.

Service was good. The place is pretty dark and a little outdated. I ordered breaded chicken with linguine and marnia sauce....both were very bland...no flavor. My husband had the calazone which he said was just a little better then ok. We tried it once but probably wont be back.

Not sure why the rating isn't great on this restaurant. First time here with my girlfriend and everything was perfect, great staff, clean place and not loud at all. At first look, the placing doesn't look great. Once you get inside it looks like a pizzeria only. You will be greeted and asked if you are ordering or dining in. I had the canelloni and everything about it was amazing. Grrat sauce, cheese like no other kind you have had & the pasta was soft and almost a butter feel to it when you ate it. Definitely a place I will be coming to more often, next time I'm coming for the pizza and going to see how that it is.

Worst service we have ever had!!!! Saw a waitress fighting with her boss in the restaurant asking to keep her job (right up front) one time. EXTREMELY RUDE telephone manors. Don't try to ever change your order, as they won't change it 2 minutes after you order!!!

Let me start by saying I've been coming to this place since I was a kid with my folks back in '74, back when it still had windows on one side, original owners worked every night, and a guy would come to your table and play the violin on weekends. In a lot of ways it hasn't changed since then; different faces and the live entertainment nixed. Reading many of the bad reviews I can tell people might not get Geppetto's. If you're looking for a brightly lit open floor plan, Oregon laminated thin crust only pizza place, with plenty of benches for the little leagues - this is not the place for you. You might be looking for a beer and pizza place, like Paddington's or Wallery's. This is wine and pizza - kids are more than welcome, but the place isn't set up to entertain the kids while worn out parents take a breather. It's not a fine wine place either. The place is set up to drink wine like the Italians drink wine - in place of water; inexpensive and abundant - with a lot of interesting discussion involved. Think of Geppetto's as three different themes that overlap; pizza, Italian food, and bar in an old school Italian restaurant. This place had Calzone before it was popular elsewhere, great ravioli, good spaghetti, (Italian spaghetti is more of a side dish than the main meal it is in the states). The pizza is unique as far as Salem pizza goes. Thick crust isn't bad, I just prefer the thin. I noticed they changed it a little a few years ago, maybe in response to a reviewer that might have gone there thinking it was Pietro's. Too bad, but it's still good. I hope they never change. It's the closest thing to natural relaxed ambiance without artificial corporate manufacture Salem has. This might be why out of towners like it so much. The closest place, in terms of atmosphere, I've found to this place is Matt's Burger's in St Paul Place, MN. Go here as a couple or a group of friends. Relax, drink some wine, and start the conversation criticizing the decor. Either order the pizza or go Italian ala cart with coffee and dessert to finish up. Everyone leaves having had a good time - even if they aren't sure why.

Really wanted to like it more than I did. I enjoy family restaurants which have been in business many years and Geppetto's has been. The inside of the restaurant has no windows due to it being located in a shopping plaza. The lighting is kind of dark inside but it's fine because it's a casual atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The pizza was just ok. Something about the crust just didn't do it for me. The pasta is not bad too. I'll go back and try more pasta dishes but probably skip pizza next time.

This review is just for the take out deep dish pizza I ordered. It was just a large straight up cheese pizza. How could you go wrong??? Well, it did go wrong. The crust was below par. The cheese quality was not good. And the sauce that took up the entire pie was below average. In the end, I could not finish a couple pieces. And when you pay that higher price for a whole pie, you expect something good about it (say the cheese or crust, etc.)....but I didn't get one single thing that I liked. I didn't give it one star (although I wanted to)...due to me having not dined inside yet. So we'll see...maybe I will...in my next lifetime or something :-p

Defiantly not the worst place I've eaten, but would I go back, NO. We were really excited to try Geppetto's because the ratings weren't THAT bad, and the Spaghetti Warehouse downtown, is not a favorite by any means. We walked in, it was dark and a little confusing. When you walk in, there is a counter that is set up to place orders, we thought maybe it was an order and pay up front then pick your seat kind of deal, but then the hostess popped her head out of the kitchen and asked if we were dinning in. The tables were covered in vinyl table clothes like grandma has, and they were SUPER sticky. There were two dirty forks under our table and several broken crayons... We asked the waiter what she recommended and she said the sausage carbanara, so that's what my husband got, and I ordered the lasagna & spaghetti combo with meat sauce. He ordered the tortellini soup and I the house salad ranch on the side, and two waters. She brought out the soup and salad 10 minutes later (mind you they were not busy at all, guess that should have been our sign!) the soup was chicken broth and tortellini's nothing else, my salad was romaine lettuce, pickled carrots and croutons, smothered in ranch (remember I asked for it on the side?) I didn't say anything because it took 10 minutes just to get the soup and salad. Fifteen minutes later our food came out... read the description of the carbanara, onions, garlic, fennel sausage.... none of that was in there, the sauce was very bland, no onions, no garlic, their idea of fennel sausage was ground pork with a itty bitty pinch of dried fennel.... The lasagna and spaghetti were not at as bad, the meat sauce was bland, but luckily there was s&p on the table along with crushed red pepper flakes. We never got refills on our water, the waitress never came to check on us once she brought out the meal. Would I got back? No. Would I recommend this to anyone? Maybe to someone who enjoys bland food? I know it sounds like a harsh review, but in the end you should enjoy your food experience and we did not, had I read a review like this I wouldn't have even walked it.

Just good, old school Italian food. The best deep dish and stuffed pizzas in town. And the only place that does stromboli the right way(sauce on the inside). Good thin cust, nice and crispy. Tasty red and pesto sauces. Good prices. Friendly, family staff. A good place to eat.

Another establishment that has been in Salem forever and ever. We met my boyfriend's friends here because they love this place. Can't say I felt the same. I found it really odd that they put crunchy pretzel-type bread sticks on the table with butter. Not a combo I love. The salad that came with my meal was old school, with lots of iceberg lettuce, topped with shreds of carrots and cabbage. The raspberry vinaigrette was interesting, I think I liked it. For the main meal, I had spaghetti, which was okay, but nothing special. It was basically just meat, sauce and noodles, I've made better at home. The sauce was too intensely flavored, like they got heavy with the tomato paste. The bread served with our meal was very good and tasted like it was baked in-house. Service was fine. I'd be interested in trying their pizza or maybe the ravioli, but so far, mehhhhh....

In town for the night, in a motel: wanted a restaurant delivery. Called Geppetto's, as I was in the mood for Italian but not pizza, and no minimum order was required. I got the steak saltimbocca with garlic roasted potatoes, that came with 'garlic' bread, and I also got a side salad. The steak was really good: tender, well seasoned! The garlic roasted potatoes were wonderful, though the serving size was skimpy. The bread--NO garlic! Just a hunk of bread and a little container of butter. The side salad was traditional and satisfying: crisp iceberg lettuce with ranch dressing: just the right amount. The delivery was very prompt: the steak & potatoes still hot, the salad dressing cold. When I'm in town again, I'll be very happy to order from them again!

What a huge disappointment. Wife ordered fettuccine Alfredo. Had no flavor did not eat. Told waitress who answered we make it very bland here. Then she asked if we wanted a box to take the uneaten meal home in. What for, it is tasteless now it will be as bad at home. She did do the right thing and not charge but did add a premium charge for the sparse dinner salad. Never going back!!!

Pizza was very good. Cracker like thin crust with a good tasting sauce. The service was good, the people are nice. The house wine was a Chianti for $7.50. The wine was terrible and that price was probably the cost of the bottle for which they are charging by the glass. The food prices were average. The restaurant is hard to find since there is no street signage.

Not sure how this place stays open. My bruschetta was served on, what appeared to be, a hot dog bun. And my pasta had to come out of a hamburger helper box. I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out and tell me I had been punked. I now use fluorescent Keno/Oregon lotto signs as a barometer for "don't go there" after this experience.

I absolutely love this place; it is the absolute opposite of the tiresomely pretentious Italian bistros that are thankfully past the peak of their trendiness. It is warm, comforting & intimate to come in here; the staff is so friendly, welcoming & helpful I always feel a warm glow upon arriving. My favourite dish is the three-cheese manicotti; I always try to get things you can't easily get anywhere else or make at home. And they have the old-style water tumblerful of breadsticks I remember with fondness from childhood. I brought a friend who was puzzled when I told her about the breadsticks, and on our third glassful, she said, "They're like crack". My husband always orders either a calzone or the lasagna, and he always winds up with a hearty enough portion he takes home lunch the next day. I've never been in the bar, I've never ordered pizza to go from there, so I can't comment on those aspects; but they aren't why I come in. I love good old-fashioned cozy restaurants with ambience; I want to feel like I'm inside a house, not gawking out a window onto a mall sidewalk watching people amble by and stare back. Geppetto's is wonderful for that kind of cozy, low-stress dining experience.

This place was horrible... The guy who helped us was sweaty and just didn't look very clean. The food we had hoped would be better. I had lasagna and my husband had pizza both were not that great. The pizza especially did not have an Italian taste....it tasted more Mexican. Overall it was not a great experience...

I was surprised to read that most of the reviews for Gepetto's were for their pizza. I've eaten here for several (more than 10) years now, and I have to say that I've never ordered their pizza. Sorry, but when the ravioli is handmade by grandma it's hard for me to be tempted by pizza. Oh, and she makes the desserts, too! I love that the decor is the same that I remember from my childhood, that the waitstaff seem to all be related to the cooks, and that the menu remains unchanged. When it comes to Italian, I tend to care only about the noodles and the sauce and I can vouch for the quality and taste of both of those in this restaurant. Dinners are served with your choice of house salad or tortellini soup--and I love them both. The focaccia bread is tasty also, though you have to specially request vinegar and oil rather than butter. In short, it's a solid Italian restaurant. I've no idea why the OG on Lancaster and Market always has a line out the door, when you can walk right in to Gepetto's...

I read the other reviews and it's interesting how diverse everyone's experience was. We were just down the street at one of my Son's high school baseball games and we were in the mood for Italian. When we first drove up it looked like a bar and when we first walked in all we saw was the walk up pizza order. We didn't think we were going to stay but we both had to go to the bathroom so we walked to the back and saw there was a very cute and cozy restaurant. We had a great waitress that was super nice and we love our food. I had the manicotti and my wife had the ravioli (I'm positive it was hand made.) We will go back.

After incessant hounding from my brother, the need for a new lunch, and Chuck B.'s reveiw, I finally gave this place a try today. From work I scoured the online menu and decided on two large deep dish cheese pizzas, one small deep dish cheese, and a stuffed combo pizza (hey--we were feeding a small army!) The guy who answered the phone (we did take out) was super friendly and let me pick three cheeses for my cheese pizzas. We chose bleu, feta, and mozzarella. Yum! The only downside to this was that he charged me extra, which was ok I guess but since I was allowed three toppings with my large anyway I thought it was odd. The nice man let me pay over the phone with my card (someone else was picking up) and even called me back at work to let me know what the total would be. It was $93.50. Wow. An hour later and the pies appear. The first thought was Whoah--HEAVY pizza boxes. If only I had known how huge these would be I wouldn't have gotten three larges! The deep dish pies weren't as deep as I thought they'd be, but that was just fine with me 'cuz I'm a thin crust girl. Geppettos lays down the cheese and then the sauce on their pies, and I felt that this was a numm-nummy way to serve (and eat) the pizza. The crust is dense and it's definately not a meal in itself (unless you're that kind of person). I was in desperate need of a salad after two slices! The flavor was delightful but a little overpowering--hence the need for a salad to accompany the meal. The stuffed is a pizza I am definately not a fan of, but I tried a slice anyway. With this version all the toppings are stuffed on the inside and the sauce is spread over the top crust. It was ok, but I got it for my brother and he loved it so I would chalk it up to preference. I will eat here again but will NOT order so many pizzas. When they say that a large will feed 4-6, they don't mean it the same way that Dominos does.

It doesn't look like a whole lot in a strip mall along Lancaster. Even once you walk in, it looks like the kind of pizza place you would take the kids after a baseball game. Based on this alone, I expected the food to be good, not great. We got two pizzas- the di Napoli and the asparagus ranch. They were fantastic. We were a little concerned with a pizza containing asparagus and blue cheese, but every piece was gone by the time we were finished. Nice wine selection too, and a full bar. Best pizza I've had in a long time.

**Update** Once again the customer service was awesome but this time I ordered off the menu. I had the fettuccine Alfredo this time and let me tell you. It tasted like warm milk over noodles. I added so much salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese that it probably brought it up to a "Ragu" level... but my goodness! Worst Alfredo sauce ever- SVJ

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
