Visiting my brother and his bride who had just relocating to here after retiring from the Navy and with my daughter in tow ( Eugene is just an hour away) came here on good advice, and weren't disappointed. There was seven of us so just review what my wife and I had, however everything I saw on the table looked fabulous. I went for the Enchiladas Jalisco with shredded beef, onions, cilantro and Queso covered with ranchera sauce, served with Mexican rice and beans. ¡ Muy Fabuloso! Mi Senora had ground beef tacos and beans also Buena! As I looked around our table I noticed my Bro's Mom in Law had Chilies Rellenos that looked great and when asked if I could taste them she said "no and that I risked a fork stuck in my hand" if I tried! Being from SoCal I know this restaurant could stand with any of the better non chain joints! I'll be back in November! Duck hunting season!

Definitely nothing special. I think there is better Mexican food in West Salem. The smothered burrito tasted like it was smothered with watered down ketchup. Probably won't go back.

Stopped in for dinner on the way home to Hillsboro from the coast. We were immediately seated by a super friendly hostess. Chips and salsa were on deck quickly. They weren't anything special, but came with a small plate of refrieds and cabbage. Nice touch. The menu was enormous and prices were reasonable. The food portions were generous, served quickly and arrived piping hot. All in all, the food was tasty, but it's the service that we enjoyed. To summarize, I would eat here again, and my overall impression is serviceable Mexican food served up with a great personal touch.

Excellent restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive. The food is authentic and simply delicious. My favorite dish so far is the burrito chipotle. The chipotle sauce is absolutely divine and a must have at least once. My wife always orders the Garibaldi nachos with extra cheese because it is always tasty good. Their extra hot salsa is specially made fresh every day and therefore different every day. Overall excellent restaurant.

Every time I go here it is always the best, Mexican food. Took my wife's family there for a family dinner. Her dad whom is from new Mexico, and has been in Oregon for 20 yrs now. commented it was the best Mexican border food he'd had since moving to Oregon.

A pile of iceberg with 5 slices of avocado serves as the "avocado tostada" for $8.95! As mentioned...overpriced. Service is friendly at best.

This gets a a four star because they aggressively price their lunch specials to the point of ridiculous. That is saying a lot in this economy when everything is being inflated. The food is ok, but not lacking for such a great price...

This is our long standing favorite Mexican style restaurant. It was formerly La Primavera and was run by the brothers in the family. They were very dear. When they moved on to other jobs, the sisters took over and Gladys is now the owner operator. She is a wonderful woman with a big heart. She will always remember each family member's favorite order, including special orders. The portions are large and the food comes out fast and hot. The best thing about Gladys and her girls are their friendly and caring ways. Our son has developmental disabilities and can not speak well. Gladys always takes the time to give him his menu choices and take his order herself. She loves to see her regular customers and families, greets us warmly and serves us well. The food is as good if not better than the local competition, and most importantly it is not another chain. We encourage you to support his local family run business!

The salsa is so good. I think they deal good proportions and I've never been disappointed in the food. Can't beat the prices either!

This is the old La Primavera. Salem-style Mexican food with just a classy little twist. Nothing too radical--except maybe parmesan cheese on the Burrito asado. The first time I came here against my better judgment I trusted the chef and tried the Parmesan cheese. It's not awful, just kinda rubs my fur the wrong way. The asada is very good, tender and flavorful. On my second visit I had pollo a la crema. Now that was perfect just the way it was. My daughter had the burrito chipotle. Spicy and creamy. Delish!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
