They have good burgers but a lot of burger places do. What makes THIS restaurant special is the staff. We are vacationing from Texas and were so glad to meet friendly Oregon locals. ( ironically the nicest person was from Tennessee). They were friendly and seemed sincerely happy to work there they were even singing with the radio. Thoroughly enjoyed it. So glad this was the first place we stopped at after the plane trip.

If you want to know about Five Guys all you have to do is look at the worst rated reviews of this place. The lone "one star" was written by a vegetarian who was disappointed that his "burger" was just grilled veggies on a bun. I'm sorry that this vegetarian can't stomach neither meat nor vegetables and my advice on a remedy for this is sorely lacking. Perhaps a breatharian diet is in this person's future? The next lowest rated reviews complain about the grease. I guess this is a legitimate complaint is you like your beef made out of cellulose (yes, that's literally paper). Five Guys owes you an apology for their fatty, flavorful burgers that are never frozen and formed in house. May I suggest Sizzler to you where the burgers are stiff, dry, small and taste like the paper that comes out of Oregon's mills? That may be more your speed. Still another complains that the toppings were falling out of the burger. I, too, have had this problem at Five Guys. Sadly, the abundance of fresh cut vegetables just won't sit on the burger and I lose a good number of them. Luckily, some of the meat falls out as well, which is why I use a fork to eat the remnants after the burger is gone. Oh, who I am kidding...I don't use a fork; I shove those remains in my mouth with my fingers like a wild animal. To those who think the fries are over/undercooked or too limp/stiff, I guess you can't make everyone happy when it comes to hand cut fries. Pour vinegar on those bad boys and let 'em suck up that nectar, then dip 'em in ketchup. Sadly, although Five Guys is a Virginia chain, there is no Old Bay to be found for the fries. *sob* I should totally knock no less than two stars for this egregious sin but I don't think Oregonians would know what to do with Old Bay if I 'splained it to 'em. Last, it ain't cheap. Dine alone and you creep upwards of ten bucks. But, if you dine with others, split the fries between two or three or four friends and the cost is absored to a more reasonable $7 per head. Sadly, capitalism hasn't found a way to create a perfect burger, without any frozen ingrediants, where nearly everything is created on the premises, and delivered with a smile for less than $5 in the wealthiest country in the world. May I suggest to the 2012 Presidential hopefuls that before you fix the economy, remedy healthcare, or propose solutions to the nation's immigrations policy that you find a way to get us Five Guy's burgers in a more frugal fashion?

Burgers are grocery store beef and buns, nothing you couldn't make at home for a lot less. Over $20 for 2 simple meals and its nothing I haven't made at home. The fries were alright, nothing to rave about. I drive 30 mins to fuddruckers and pay the same price for burgers and fries that'll blow your mind. I don't prefer 5 guys in my burgers and fries!

The arrival of Five Guys in Salem is huge in the fast food scene and throws an immediate hat in the ring for a best burger contention for a city with so many lackluster options burger wise. There is still some initial shock for me, but their burgers make it easy to get behind the initiative. The burgers are definitely on par with other Five Guys I've had in other cities, notably NYC, various spots in Cali, and Las Vegas. Each burger was visually unappealing - messy from top to bottom, sloppily assembled, and unapologetically greasy. And yet, every bite was as tasty as the next. It's easy to love eating something this nasty, especially when nursing a hangover. The fries aren't nearly as grand. Also bearing a drippage of greasy uneasiness, these potatoes were a tad too salty for enjoyment. Burgers and fries go hand in hand, but in terms of quality and taste, it wasn't a fast food match in fatty heaven. Five Guys has already been around for the last few years and has amassed a loyal following of burger loving enthusiasts. Though Salem already has more chain and franchised establishments than it can count, Five Guys and other popular chains included prove it's nice to have options.

Yes, it's more expensive than the golden arches. But guess what? It's just that much better. This is what American burger and fries are. Come and get it. So good! The only knock is Coke products, ugh, and yes there is some grease. Large portions of tasty fries though!

There are so much better places for WAY cheaper. The prices are outrageous. The server told us one large fry was enough for three people, he must not like fries very much. The burger I could make better myself, the fries were ok. The service was pretty decent. But I will never go back here because the prices are astronomical. Go some place else and save yourself $20 and have a better meal. (as for some place else, if you're near a Nancy's burgers (which are in Keizer and West Salem, Oregon currently) go there, if not then go to In N Out. If you're near neither than drive to one! [Or find your local best place])

Best burgers in town. Fresh, not frozen beef. Very flavorful. Service is always fast, friendly and inviting. Love their fresh cut fries too. The other restaurant that has come to town to copy their business (Nancy's) doesn't come close to delivering any where near the flavorful burgers that Five Guys puts out.

Really wanted In and Out, but there isnt any in salem.. so we tried Five guys.. Pros: Juicy, fresh burgers Free peanuts Choose as many condiments for your burger for free Cons: Fries are blah Not many options All in all, good quick burger joint. Nothing fancy

Good service, good handmade burgers and fries, clean place and the kids love it. This is s good option in the Lancaster area.

Very much in the way of excellent burgers here. The regular is two patties, apparently because they wanted to have all their burgers well done, but not burnt on the outside, so it was easier to do two little patties instead of one big one. Fun fact. But you get them exactly how you want them...all the toppings are up for grabs, including more esoteric ones. You can design what you want and by god that's exactly what you'll get. They always post up where and from what farm their potatoes come for the fries, but honestly, these are not the type of fries I prefer. I like my thin and crispy, and these are droopy and oily. But hey, it's a style...just not my style. The burgers themselves more than make up for it. And peanuts are everywhere, so if you're allergic, sorry, but stay out. Sad face.

On Black Friday my wife and I had finished shopping for the youngsters and needed a bite to eat. Yelp! pointed me into Five Guys' direction. A huge burger sounded great. When my wife and I got there, I was shocked at how cool this little place was. A spot that specializes in burgers and fries...how awesome! The inside was nice, had a red and white scheme with about 6,000 pounds of bagged spuds neatly stacked. There was just the right amount of seating for the people there, the staff was VERY friendly and courteous. Gentleman at the counter asked if we had been there before, once we said, "no" he explained the difference between what burgers they do and how the toppings worked...all with a smile. Something else I loved....the open kitchen. You can see right into the kitchen and see the food being made. That was really nice. Just gave you a good feel SEEING what was going on when 99% of the time you can't. My burger was great (pictures will be up soon). Absolutely a filling, tasty, satisfying burger. I ate a double bacon cheese burger with all the toppings and some A-1 for a "why the hell not moment." Got a side of Cajun fries which had a bite of spiciness that was really great and complimented the burger well. Great prices and great food. This just became one of my favorite fast food joints...PERIOD.

I don't see what the big deal is. Okay burger, no cheese options, huge fry portions. Lots of calories, no soul. Appreciated the vinegar available and the cherry coke in the fountain, but I don't see myself craving it. Not offensive but not memorable either.

It's a very good burger with very fresh ingredients, but to me, that's about it. I will get some flack from my yelping friends, but I just don't see what all the hype is about. Yes you can get all the toppings you want, and the meat is fresh. However, it tastes like regular old flat top burger. The meat didn't have much flavor, although it was very juicy. The burgers here don't stand up to the bun cause of the juice (grease) and that disappoints me a little, but at least it isn't dry as cardboard. This place is fine if you want a burger that beats all the fast food places, but to me, it's just a run of the mill burger. I would rather get mine at Little Big Burger.

It's classic Five Guys. Good food, greasy fries, quick service despite the long lines.

Sometimes the experience doesn't live up to the hype. I'd heard (and read here) that Five Guys was a great burger joint, so I finally went. I ordered a double with grilled onions and bbq sauce. I watched as burgers were being slapped together with reckless carelessness, yet I still had to wait about 15 min. I got my food and sat down to eat, wherein I found that the "grilled" onions were basically warmed, not really cooked, the burger, though juicy, was fairly tasteless, and if there was bbq sauce on it, I couldn't tell. I did find it interesting that the day I visited, the fries were made from potatoes grown about 10 miles from where I grew up; a nice touch that pushed my score up a star.

Nicely done! Approaching the door to this fast food mecca, I was reminded of the food court of the Oregon State Fair. The aroma was intoxicating. My partner and I were meeting another couple here on Friday August 5th before a movie. Our time was limited, and I knew that this place could get busy, so we were lucky that we got in, ordered and were served quickly. To be fair, I have previously written about a Five Guys in McClean Virginia that served food I wouldn't serve to my worst enemy, AND this is the second time I have eaten at this location, (The first time I was not impressed), so I wasn't expecting great things. On my previous visit to this location, the food was passable, served luke warm and the fries were barely cooked. On this visit the food was hot, and the fries were delightful (grease soaked bag and all!) Each of the four of us ordered the double cheeseburger. We only ordered two medium fries because we knew the bag would be filled regardless of the size ordered. My burger was absolutely wonderful! Juicy, hot, and very big! Our little group devoured our burgers quickly and started working on the fries. Malt Vinegar is nice on fries, however, some plain white vinegar would also be welcomed. I have to agree with Chuck B. about the peanuts. While they are nice to have available, they are low grade. However, they are something to snack on while waiting. I am not sure about the need for 8 employees to be sitting around the dining area though. Not sure if it was shift change time, or if they just are paid to be available during peak times. We were there around 7 p.m. there were 4 staff cooking and 2 taking orders, but the 8 sitting in the dining area chatting perplexed me. One nice feature of this location is that they have some outdoor seating available. Oh warm summer days and evenings, this is a welcome addition. Price point is fairly inexpensive. The total cost for the four of us was just under $35! My partner and I don't eat fast food that often, but when we do, this is the top of our list. We will be back.

Their burger is good. It's above fast food taste and quality, however below Red Robin. I like the option of choosing your own toppings and sauce. It did taste fresh but nothing spectacular. Recommendations; Change your hot sauce! Their hot sauce is so watery, that it made my bun soggy. I am not a big fan of their fries. They could learn from little big burger.

Best burger I have had in a long time. The frys are okay but the burgers are where its is. They have a sweet new soda machine, it has almost everthing you could want.

I went to this location when it first opened and the line was out the door. The burgers were delicious wrapped in the tin foil and the fries were thick and fresh. The large fry will easily feed 2 and the cajun seasoning gives it a nice kick. However, on my last several visits I have walked away feeling grossed out. The fries taste and smell like the peanut oil is not being changed frequently enough and have an odd aftertaste as well as oily and limp. The hotdog buns have changed and are now the standard dinky hot dog buns you would buy at the store. (I was told by a cashier that all the buns are made in house....) On my last attempt I watched the staff wipe down a table with a rag, then take out the trash, go directly to cleaning the garbage with the SAME rag and then continue back too cleaning the tables..with the SAME rag. Not once did she wash her hands or change rags. This was the last time I ate at Five Guys.

The second meal here was not as impressive, unfortunately. It wasn't a complete bummer (notice the three stars) but it was obvious that the staff was cutting some corners here. The three adults in our group all ordered the bacon cheeseburger and two of the three ordered A-1 on them. After 10 minutes the food was ready. We excitedly dug in only to find that none of the burgers had bacon on them. One person went up to the counter and told the manager working, and the manager handed him 6 pieces of bacon on a foil sheet. It was fine I guess, except that the bacon was cold :( Then the two burgers that were supposed to have A-1 didn't have A-1. So it wasn't a horrid experience, and I understand they're a new joint, but with 15 employees all working behind the counter you'd expect nothing to go wrong.

So we have been going here since they opened. The Burgers are juicy and well prepared. They have a plethera of toppings and you have them build it how you want it. The french fries in my opinion should be twice fried to be a little more crunchy. However, they do give you enough in a small order to feed a battalion of hungry soldiers. I love the free peanuts that you can throw the shells on the floor, although that just seams unnatural. All in all, a good place to get a good burger!

    (4)
  • Sean G.

5 guys. I don't always bring a friend to eat with me so please make a fry size that I don't waste so much. Its great you feel peanuts are such a fun food but we are not in the old west and letting customers throw shells to the floor is disgusting. The only great thing about you is the all toppings, the burger is good but not amazing.

Meh pretty average and It just... it aint got shit on in and out. first time I came here I was like meh, then my dad wanted to try it so we went and I was like meh. but idk it's always full of people so maybe try it for yourself? and its not super expensive about 9 bucks a person but I don't think the food is worth it. meh. Was going to give them 2 stars but there are some things I enjoyed during my experience there. Customer service is great! really friendly the young chap at the counter explained the menu (cus I was like "little burger" is that for kids{in my head}) which was great and I also like that your food is cooked fresh.

An older male cashier greeted me and asked if I had ever been here before. When I shook my head no, he gave a nice, five-second rundown of their offerings. I went with the little hamburger "all the way" -- but no mayonnaise for $3.59. Basically, "all the way" or "everything" would get you mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, and mustard. But again, I told them to 86 the mayo. As an aside, you can also ask for toppings like relish, fresh onions, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A-1 sauce, BBQ sauce, or hot sauce on your burger. All toppings and condiments are free! It was a pretty good burger, and they filled my order properly (yup, no mayo). While all their beef patties are cooked well-done, the beef remained quite juicy. But what really made this burger, in my book, was the grilled onions and mushrooms. They brought a new dimension that not all burgers "with the works" will give you. This is not your run-of-the-mill fast-food burger here. Going here and eating this burger after celebrating our great nation's birthday was a kickass idea. Not too many items are more American these days than a hamburger. I like that you can customize your burger in a ton of different ways. I did have a few concerns. First, I did think that the patty was a bit small -- which is probably why people get the regular-sized burgers that have two of those patties encased inside the bun. Second, at first glance when unwrapping the foil, the bun looked a bit shriveled or slightly crushed due to a little careless handling from the food handlers. Finally, some of the fresher, raw vegetables -- like the lettuce and tomato -- were already losing their freshness due to the numerous warm/hot items surrounding it. The lettuce (just your regular head lettuce) in particular was practically wilted. They could have considered a lettuce like Romaine that has a stronger likelihood of holding up to the heat. I think it's important to keep the cold condiments very cold (I even think ketchup and mustard should be cold, but it won't matter to the vast majority out there) and the hot condiments nice and hot until the very end. For people who do not want a burger, they also offer hot dogs. At the Lancaster location, a Kosher style dog is $2.99, a cheese dog is $3.79, a bacon dog is $3.79, and a bacon cheese dog is $4.19. Maybe you're a vegetarian? Five Guys offers a veggie sandwich ($2.69), a cheese veggie sandwich ($3.09), and a grilled cheese sandwich ($2.69). Let's not forget about the fries, coming in regular ($2.89) or large ($3.59) sizes. You can get it "Five-Guys" style or "Cajun" style. I'm not huge on French fries, so unless I return with a friend, I'll pass on those. Five Guys has won awards for their fries as well, so I'm sure they are quite good. They fry the fries in no-cholesterol peanut oil. My friends told me to check Five Guys out because they thought the burgers were pretty damn good. While I did list my concerns above regarding the burger, I generally agree with my buddies. If I return, I'll probably sample their veggie sandwich next, just to see how they cater to the vegetarian.

HELLA OVERRATED. I had heard about Five Guys for some time since they have locations in California as well, so when I came home to Salem to visit and saw that there was a Five Guys, I jumped on it. I wanted to like them, I really did, especially since it's surrounded by most generic fast food joints that aren't nearly as fresh. We had ordered around 8 burgers (hamburgers, cheeseburgers, some Little sized and some regular) and fries Five Guys style as well as Cajun. The fries were automatically a no-no for me since they were so soggy and limp. Then, as we unwrapped our burgers, it was a hot mess of ingredients as things were falling out with each bite -- we definitely burned through tons of napkins to stay clean. I give them an A for effort, I do, but I just couldn't bring myself to like them enough.

If you are a lover of In N Out Burger, this is sooo much better. I love that you tell them what toppings you want, instead of trying to find the burger on the menu that most closely resembles what you want. Also, love the atmosphere. They have unshelled peanuts to snack on while you wait. The only downside is I'm not a huge fan of their fries. They seem to always overcook them.

I have seen these places popping up all over Washington and decided to give them a try while I was on the road. All I can say is a place that lets you put as much on your burgers without paying extra is a huge plus in my book. I went for the smaller burger because the regular has two patty's (a little too much for me). The only problem was the bun needed to be a little sturdier to hold all the toppings; if I was I would have given a five. Oh and the fries let's not forget them, they are fresh cut so they just melt in your mouth. They also have peanuts you can eat while you are waiting for your burger. If you are a fan of burgers at a reasonable price than Five Guy's Burgers and Fries is a place you must go to, go ahead get it all because it's FREE!

[AMBIENCE] I like that the kitchen is open and you can view them making the food. I also liked how they have the calories listed on the menu when you're ordering. One thing that I don't like is that they don't give you your food on a tray if you're eating inside, they just give you your whole order in a brown paper bag. [COST] Not cheap. Just about every burger you can purchase here is almost five dollars just for the burger itself. They also don't have any kind of combo meals. [FOOD QUALITY] Five Guys lets you put just about whatever you want on the burger at no additional charge (I'm guessing this is why the cost of a burger is so high). I'm originally from SoCal so I can honestly say that the burger doesn't even compare to an In N' Out burger tastewise, but since there are no In N' Out locations in Oregon, it's better than anything else out here. I do admit that the fries are better than In N' Out fries, though. [SERVICE] Very friendly and courteous employees here.

Awesome evironment! Service is good. Feels like polite boys making a great burger to your liking! Burger taste like I just grilled it on the bbq myself. Great tasting and fresh veggies w/ soft bread! I like the open kitchen area so you can see what exactly is going on back there! And they serve Mellow Yellow ---Holla

I saw a segment of some show on the Food Network about this place, so I had to check it out because the burgers looked so good. I found that there was a place in Salem, so I stopped in here on my way back to Eugene. The menu is pretty basic. One patty or two? Cheese or bacon or both? Pretty simple. they had a hotdog too, but I went with a double bacon cheese burger and fries. I waited about 6 minutes until my food came. Apparently, they don't use trays for people eating there because I got my bag loaded with fries. I couldn't even find my burger in there. Well, after I found my burger in the mountain of fries, I saw the giganticness of this beast of a burger. It's great because you can get tons of added fixings, or you could get none. It's up to you. This was a great burger, a little too much, but I really enjoyed it and I left with a full stomach. I would probably go there again.

As far as Five Guys goes this place is just great. As far as fast food goes though I had to take a star off for the grease and lack of decent vegetarian options. The idea is a great one, but it should mean you can make a healthier burger, just like at Subway or Chipoltle you can make a healthier sub or taco. The peanuts are awesome, love the peanuts. But the fries are usually just potato flavored grease. And they give you so much you almost get sick just looking at it. So if you have a craving for greasy food this is the place for you.

Kinda expensive but very good burgers. Burgers don't include drink or fries but if you order fries they are very generous. They fill up the fry cup put it in the bag and then dump another scoop of fries in on top.

Over the last decade or so as I have contemplated the burger, I have often despaired that icky pre-shaped chemical-infused patties are so abundant and simple, fresh, hand-formed beef burgers are impossible to find. Especially in Salem. Normally I like to avoid chains, but this is a welcome addition to the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Salem cuisine. I was kind of disappointed that they don't sell shakes at Five Guys Burgers and Fries, but it's not like the name of the place didn't prepare me for the let-down. I guess I have been conditioned to need a good milkshake with a great burger like this one(especially if it is served in a place with shiny red and white tile). One of the slogans of the franchise is that they don't have freezers, and to sell shakes, I guess they'd have to gear up with some pretty industrial freezers. Oh well. I was warned in advance by my daughter to order the "little" burger (meaning one patty) but I never listen to her so I ordered a "hamburger" and ended up taking the second patty off. They have all kinds of toppings available and they are all free. I always trust the chef so I ordered "all the way" which came with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup and mustard. This was a great burger! The fries are made from fresh potatoes and a large was the right amount for our family of four (who were all eating gigantic burgers). We ordered regular fries and I was glad because the burger was such a cacophony of taste that I still say that the Cajun style fries would have been too much for the excited palate (my family disagrees and wanted Cajun). Five Guys Burgers and Fries will not make me reconsider my dislike of chain restaurants in general, but I gladly admit an exception to my rule. Welcome to Salem, Five Guys!

Some folks like to compare this place to in-n-out burger. . . problem is, they can't possibly. . . Five guys to in-n-out is like comparing apples to oranges, they are different styles of atmosphere and burger style. . . the burgers are tasty although you always feel ultra guilty for ordering a bacon cheese burger because of the calories listed on the menu. Their fries though, are, some of the best i've had in a burger place and their cool Coke machines are a draw for folks.

The first couple of times I visited Five Guys, I was very impressed with the burgers. Good flavor, nice choice of toppings and pretty fast service. The fries are good - both the cajun and the regular - and you get about double your order in "bag fries". The last time I was there I realized the taste is something that you can grow tired of. It's a good burger and a good place to stop by when you are in the area, but not a destination restaurant.

Love this place. For a fast food burger joint this is about as good as it gets. Plenty of toppings and you get it your way. Plenty of fries in a regular. Normally I order a large at other restaurants but not here. I would be afraid to see how much fries are in a large. Keep in mind this is fast food so I try to limit going here only once a month. But I do not always follow that rule. At least I do not eat at any other fast food burger places anymore.

I've eaten there once, maybe my review doesn't mean anything to most. But, as a vegetarian I felt extremely out of place. A few grilled veggies on a "fast food" bun, I ordered extra cheese and they had forgotten it. (The veggie comes with no cheese) Peanut shells on the ground, a cold atmosphere, reminding me of Chipotle. The grease was almost unbearable, maybe I'm a health nut but this was a terrible experience with mediocre to bad food. It's not everyday that I complain, but the extreme positive reviews have forced me to voice my opinion. Sorry to the 5 guys, maybe try 4 guys and a girl?

I've been watching this place since moving to Salem a couple of months ago. I finally got the chance to go in the other night... My son had a football game that night against West Salem (they lost). We sat most of the game freezing our butts off but during the last six or seven minutes of the game (football minutes being a lot longer than real minutes) it rained on us. Being new to Oregon, we didn't bring our umbrellas. So we sat it out, watching my son and his team. When the game was over and he was all cleaned off, we decided to take him out to dinner as an after-game celebration. We were driving around looking for something, not wanting the standard fast food fare. He mentioned earlier that he wanted a burger and fries, so finally it dawns on me...FIVE GUYS BURGERS AND FRIES...DUH! We walked in and could tell that they were close to closing for the night, with about 25 minutes to spare. That didn't deter the person behind the register though. He was happy to help us learn the procedure and menu for FGB&F. After placing the order and finding our seats, we notice that they have boxes of peanuts everywhere. So we go over and help ourselves to a bowl of peanuts. Delish...and a great idea. After about only a seven or eight minute wait, and a couple cups of diet soda pop, our food comes out to us. We weren't called out by a number. Not sure if that's the standard, or what they do on a quiet night, but cool anyhow. I ordered the cheeseburger, and my son ordered the hamburger. My wife opted not to eat, having eaten nachos and such at the game. We also ordered a large cajun fries. On mine, I put the standard burger supplies of ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions (raw), tomatoes and lettuce. But when I bit into the burger, there was a flavor explosion in my mouth. I was truly surprised by this burger. Cooked perfectly. Not dry or overdone. Nice and juicy, it was. I inhaled it so quickly, I wanted another one just to keep enjoying the flavor. My wife was busy on the fries, even though she said she was full. They were good. Very flavorful. Almost a bit too much for fries. But I devoured them with a few sides of ketchup. No problem. I will definitely be back many, many times more. I would definitely say that this is one of the better franchise burgers I've ever had. Much better than any fast food, and better than In-n-Out Burger. They said they get a lot of comparisons with them, but I feel that there's no comparison to the other company. Menu is simple. Choose what burger you want. Standard is a double burger with/without cheese. From there, you choose all the toppings you want on your burger. They are all included, no matter how many you choose. So you can have your burger with as many or little toppings as you want. Being a lover of flavor and taste, I opt to stack mine with as much stuff as you can...double up on the onions, pickles, and tomato please!

Great burgers and fries. Not only is the food great, but if you leave hungry it's your own fault.

Unfortunately, my wife won't let me eat here very often. There's no way I can order the single cheese burger. It has to be the double cheese with fries. The grease soaks through the paper bag. I'd never admit to my doctor that I eat here. Among the top 3 burger places in Salem.

I don't really see what all the hype is about. It's a good burger, but not that great. Yes, the beef patty was tender, and they have an array of toppings (all for free!), but I feel like you can find a burger in Salem that's just as good for less money. They don't have meal deals, you have to build it separately, and that adds up. I bought a little burger, with fries and a drink and it cost me over 8 bucks. Kinda spendy for a burger joint.

Best fast food burgers in town aside from the Burger Basket. The only real problem I have with them is their fries. They are always a little on the burnt side. A lot of people seem to enjoy them or praise them as being better than In-N-Out, but in my opinion the fries should match the burger flavor for a combo flavor one can get into. In-N-Out does this perfectly, unfortunately Five Guys falls flat in that department.

Five Guys comes across as a pretty blatant In-N-Out copycat, but that's not exactly an all-together bad thing. Like INO, you walk up to the counter to order from counter workers dressed in whites and wearing little hats. Also like INO the menu is limited, making for easy choices (one patty or two?) and fast ordering and production time. Another similarity to INO is the fresh cut fries, although 5 guys also offer a cajun fry which has a nice, if not pretty salty, bite to them. My double cheeseburger was a hand made patty with fresh lettuce, tomato, grilled onion and cheese. My only beef would be with the bun...reminded me of a straight-from-the-bag Franz white sesame seed bun from Costco...not impressed, and it didn't hold up well to the juicyness of the burger. Other than that, the place was a winner as far as Oregon burger places go. Hard to ignore the INO similarities though; the place was even decked out in red and white tiles! Bottom line, if you need a burger fix and don't want the ecoli squirts from Micky D's or BK, head into 5 Guys and check it out. Total for one double cheese burger, one single cheese burger and 2 small fries(the smalls are huge!) with one drink was $16 and change. I recommend it!

I am a huge fan of In and Out burger, which we of course cant get in Oregon. So 5G is similar, only you have more options. For them.. more options is awesome! The burgers and fries are awesome. I think they are fairly priced, tho fast food. Eating at 5G makes me feel less guilty about eating fast food. As the quality is far superior.
