This bookstore/ espresso bar is a must! Wonderful coffee and the best scones ever! Thousands of books to browse and plenty of quiet little nooks to tuck into. Wi-Fi is free and they have a bathroom. The staff are friendly and very helpful. While Away has been in Roseburg for 20 years and is just off I-5 at exit 124. There is even a Grocery Outlet next door if one needs to pick up a few groceries. Don't miss the best stop in all of Roseburg!

I was in Roseburg only for the purposes of having a pit-stop on my way down back to the Bay from Eugene. It was pouring rain, I had a rental car with no snow tires, and was about to pass through the cascades in-between storms, so I needed just a bit of relief before embarking on the more difficult part of my journey. While the only thing that any of my friends told me about the town was regarding the high use of meth, I still managed to find a wonderful, cozy nook in "While Away Books." The small location on the corner of a strip mall was not the best indicator of a comfy bookstore, but this place truly was! Packed shelves, a huge selection (and great fantasy section), a lot of quietly friendly patrons, and a weird, cute hobbit-bathroom! I grabbed a hot tea on my way out (an amazing loose leaf!) and ask for some advice on getting through the mountain passes-- not only did the woman serving me tea give me a ton of information, but every person in the store soon joined in to offer advice and tips for my journey--which was quite long, a little dangerous, and I was taking alone. I was thankful for the advice, the tea, the bathroom, and the assurance of human kindness while along and in need! This place is everything to me (at least as far as Roseburg is concerned!).

For bookworms, this place is a little slice of heaven. You can't really go in looking for something specific; you have to enter with an open mind and explore until you find the book that has been waiting for you. Have a cuppa while you read!

I really enjoy While Away Books. For the area, it's a great alternative to a coffee shop or the library to get some studying, reading, wifi time in. The book selection is great for the area, however out of towners might judge it as weak. Even having moved away, I still enjoy it's atmosphere and selection. While seating is limited, I prefer it that way, it keeps the store quiet & intimiate. The coffee is amazing as are the pastries. The staff is always helpful, eager to chat and very knowledgeable. And you can't hate on being able to trade in your old books for new or new to you books! :)

This is really one of Roseburg's little gems. In addition to an incredible selection of used books, they've got tasty coffee. Visiting While Away Books on the weekend reveals a number of happy regulars, browsing the shelves and sipping on lattes. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can trade in your old used books for credit. Oh, and there's an interesting though not incredibly extensive selection of rare books, first editions, and that sort of thing. Their paperback shelves are very well-stocked, and if you're looking for an old science fiction or mystery, this is the place to go. There is fairly limited seating, including a couple of tables on the sidewalk out front. But the coffee is just a nice little bonus: this place is about great, affordable used books. It's a rare visit to Roseburg that I pass up an opportunity to visit While Away Books.

This place is decent, it serves its purpose but I was disappointed by the not so extensive selection.

Love this bookstore! I wish it were in Vancouver - we don't have a bookstore that measures up to this one. We go to Roseburg to see my family (I grew up there) and we always stop at While Away Books.

Awesome staff. I like their costumer service, Always focused on each person, one at a time. You may have to wait a bit, but you know that they are trying to serve you to the best of their Knowledge. Great place to meet up with friends for coffee and if Josh is there, have him make your latte... El Poole
