Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Nice atmosphere, food was good. Not the best Mexican food I've had, but it was good. Service was just awesome! We never had to wait for anything. Food came so quick, we didn't even make a dent in the chips and salsa.

We were hungry and this was one of the few things that was open that was not a chain. Food was OK. Not the best nor worst I have had but certainly not inspiring. Lots of booths, which is nice if you like to cozy in a booth. The music that was playing was a little loud (maybe we were under a speaker) and all sounded the same. They seemed a little understaffed. It took them a while to take our order and the food was a little slow to come out. Our waitress never checked back to see if everything was OK until it was time to deliver the bill. Salsas were bland. Not sure I would return.

The food was really bad. Rice was super mushy like over cooked or microwaved. Beans were flavor less and the chili verde was really bad. I make better then thst but I grew up in southern california. Maybe thats the difference. I learned how to make chili Verde from mexicans. Not a cookbook. And do me a favor, throw it out. You want a recipe, here you go. 1 pork tender loin cubed up 1 onion 2 cans of green enchilada sauce since a real verde sauce would be too complicated for you 1 bunch of cilantro minced up 1 quart of chicken stock Garlic, salt and pepper to taste High heat saute pork until cooked on all sides after evenly seasoning with spices listed. Add onion saute till translucent. Then add 2 cans of enchilad sauce, cilantro, and chicken stock. Simmer on medium heat while stirring frequently and reduce until pork is cooked and sauce is thicken. Remove from heat. Adjust seasoning to taste.

We have eaten at Si Casa several times normally it is good Mexican food. My wife and I had lunch there today, it was about 1:20 on a Monday afternoon. We had to wait until the server cleared a table for us. My wife ordered her usual mexican fare - bean and cheese enchalada with rice on the side, I ordered Carnes de Pollyo. We both came up with the conclusion that the food was blah - very little taste at all. We will give them another shot, as this is the first time we haven't been satisfied with our meal at any of their locations.

Ok place. Okay food. Good location. Has some good service but I've been in with some bad service before! The rice and beans are kid friendly as my kids enjoy them. The tables are small a group of 6 really should have the single seat tables not the booths...on one visit We were offered more chips but none came. No one asked how the meal and just really slow service. But I'll go back again.

Food is so so, Burrito Vaquero is far better quietly food. The service was short and had zero table checks. And we waited for out ticket for over 20 mins. Very disappointing....

Server was kind of rude and he hurried us through lunch. Also, I asked to change something and I was refused. When the food showed up it was average tasting but small portioned. This will be the last time I go here for sure.

I wish my comments about the food or the service here were positive, but I walked away from this dining experience quite unhappy. I first ordered a margarita, then received something back in 1-2 minutes that tasted exactly like margarita mix minus tequila. The price? $7.95. For a meal, I ordered the avocado tostado. For $10.95, I received five small slices of avocado, a heapful of beans, and a corn tortilla. I would have complained about the palty amount of avocado, or that the food was overpriced, but the server never once came back to check on us. Maybe the food would have been better for a carnivore, but for a vegetarian, this meal was outstandingly overpriced.

Had a business lunch here today and was more than pleased. Had the two Enchilada Lunch with Rice and Beans and the shredded beef was very lean and flavorful. Beans were cooked just right and the Rice was perfect. Service was good and the Chips and Salsa were good also. When there, look at the mural on the south wall........I spotted three flying saucers on it, no kidding!

The food was not even so so. It was the same unauthentic Mexican food the type that makes you feel sorry you ate it.

It's your typical American-Mexican resturaunt. Nothing to write home about.

There is NO Mayo in the guacamole! It is just creamy avocado. Salsa was excellent and beans are outstanding. It is a small gem.

Smaller than the place in Sutherlin, but still the same great food!!!!!

My caldo de pollo (soup) and chicken azada(?) salad were delicious. My friend's arroz con pollo was "pretty good".

The fundido chorizo is to die for. I had something with a real long name name that was based in a chili sauce with mushroom/onions that was very good as well. The chili verdi was meh. Nice size portions.

Family and I stopped in this evening on our way back to northern California. Food was great, service was personalized to our needs, and prices were good..Salsa was great to boot. Will stop in next time we pass by.

Add another good restaurant close to the freeway for a quick stop while driving through. I had chile verde which was really good (big plate, too-- Enough for lunch the next day). I regretted my decision only because the air slowly continued to get filled with the smell of grilling carne asada. Very soon I wish that I had ordered that, though I was not disappointed in the end. The chips and salsa were good, but nothing very out of the ordinary. The restaurant is very colorfully and intricately decorated, and the service was friendly and attentive (even on a very busy Friday night).

Guacamole has too much mayo.

Excellent! Had the tacos al carbon- grilled skirt steak tacos with a big dalop of guacamole, special red salsa, onions, cilantro, big lime wedges. Beans and rice were crazy good. The real deal. Skip Wendy's and sit down for a big Mexican meal! Now off to complete the last leg of the SF to PDX dash.

We always come here when in nearby Winston for fieldwork--our consultant is addicted to their tortilla soup (chicken soup with avocado and just-out-of-the-fryer tortilla strips). The staff members are all very kind--they're attentive and like to joke with the customers. The food is quite good, save the occasional soggy burrito (but the filling was good--you could ask them to wait a little longer before pouring on the sauce). They have several vegan options, including a very good veggie burrito with sauteed mushrooms and bell pepper. The chips are GREAT, always warm and fresh, and the chips and salsa are, naturally, free. And the bathroom is very clean! (++) This place will continue to be a group favorite.

Great food, nice decor - murals painted on the walls, etc. I had the Shrimp Fajita Taco Salad - definitely enough for two. The shrimp so delicious! Cheese Enchilada/Chili relleno dinner combo was enjoyed very much by my husband.
