For fast food, their natural burger is a hit with me. Wish there were a healthier side though. Natural cheese on the burger and jalapeño pepper make this a treat for me and something that put Carl's head an shoulders above their fresh food competition.

When I was living in Medford I stopped in at this Carls Jr on my many jaunts up and down I-5. This particular CJ's is super friendly, fast, and gets orders right.

Well, for pete's sake, it's a Carl's. I'm assuming that we all know the drill at their restaurants. This one is a newer location with the Green Burrito menu in there. I go back with Carl a real long time. I used to go to the original Green Burritos, when Ruben Rodriguez ran the joint, which this is most certainly not. It is closer to Carl's old Taco de Carlos' nasty little menu in the 1960s. Yeah, he really had a chain called that. The Carl's Star Man wore a sombrero in the T de C logo. I am not making that up. No, go for the burgers or the chicken sands here; they are pretty good and pretty consistent. Their shakes are pretty good too; the real thick kind that are so thick that you think you might suck your eyeballs in trying to suck up that drink. For me, I will take some pico de gallo and the red salsa and doll up my burger with that, which is mighty fine for a fast food burger. It shares the parking lot with the new Walgreen's in case something you eat doesn't sit right, which is convenient.

Carl's Jr, the King of fast food burgers. What was that Burger King? Shut up you sissy. For you East Coast types, you'll know this better as Hardee's, without all the "Big and Thick" euphemisms (get it!?). Those are known as The Six Dollar Burgers in these parts. Originally, that title was an advertising campaign's attempt to showcase the outstanding quality of the burgers at a much lower price than a regular restaurant's six dollar burgers, but Carl's has since been nearing the six dollar mark themselves. Anyway, moving on. I'm a burger guy. It's hard to get tired of them, McDonald's notwithstanding. If I want a good burger, the first place I think is Carl's. Why? Because they are the best in fast food burgers, and Burger King needs to quit trying to spread it's false monarchy. First off, the produce is fresh, as in, they get bags of fresh onions, tomatoes, etc, and cut them up themselves. That includes the salsa. How do I know this? I have my ways. The burgers are outstanding, and the service is mostly good. The milkshakes are fantastawesomerifical, because they're made with real ice cream and mixed up right behind the counter. the Green Burrito menu isn't bad, but I'd go for the chicken options more than anything else. Also, they recently changed their recipe for the crispy chicken sandwiches. Mind you, I'm not talking about the $1 spicy chicken. Anyway, I got to try one when it came out and I must say, I almost cried with happiness. For one, they always cook it fresh, so it's nice and juicy. For two, the chicken patty itself is so excellently flavored, you'd think you just bought a $10 sandwich from a Red Robin that didn't suck (I'm not saying that Red Robin sucks; just that I had a REALLY crappy chicken sandwich there once, and yeah, not all Red Robins are awesome). Have a crispy chicken sandwich and your life will be complete. Anyway, excellent food with fresh produce, decent service, and huge drink cups. You'll leave happy, and probably with at least five of their super cheap cheesecake slices.

Since they remodeled they have been outstanding. They tend to mess up a bit on remembering things you ask for in the drive-thru, but don't let that stop you from coming here to eat. Their food is always warm and seems pretty fresh for fast food. The restaurants atmosphere is nice, and their soft-drink/tea selection is huge. The staff is also friendly and professional.
