After a dozen or so visits since the re-open, unfortunately, the food and experience is way too inconsistent to warrant my previous 5-star rating. The food quality is hit or miss and the burger night on Wednesday was a huge disappointment. A tiny little McDonald's size patty on a very dry bun that overwhelmed the dinky patty by about 6 to 1. The fries and blue cheese mayo, however, were very good, but it was not a $15 burger, not by a long shot. Honestly, it was the worst burger I've ever had. McDonald's actually does a better job. The duck was very dry and overcooked, Mac and cheese with shrimp and scallops was missing the shrimp entirely, but no mention of it from the waitress. Twice we were served salad with rotting pieces of lettuce. The tiny slices of bread come with about a tablespoon of butter, which comes off as really cheap. At these prices you shouldn't feel l like they're trying to skimp. Finally, the last time we were in, my mom ordered a special that was supposed to be served with angel hair pasta, when it arrived there was brown rice instead. When my mom asked about the pasta the waitress, Linda, said, "Oh, that was last night, my bad" and off she went. Hrmmm, for regular customers and at this price range I would expect more than a "my bad" as she disappeared, especially considering that the pasta was the reason my mom ordered the special. The list goes on, but those are some highlights. It's unlikely that we'll be back with so many disappointments and that's a shame with so few restaurants in this town, but I guess that's why they can get away with such inconsistency. Hopefully, the food and service will eventually measure up to the pricing, and what that kind of pricing usually promises.

Had a steak and it was ok. Would have been better if it was cooked to the proper temperature. The meat and cheese plate was strange as the meat were chunks of smoked turkey. Would be 2 stars if in a major city. Only two tables had people the entire evening.

Great local find, off the beaten track but worth the search. Don't be put off by the exterior and location The food was wonderful. I had rhe chicken and basil pasta. Great flovors and not too much sauce. Plus, the meal included a real greens salad to begin. There were four in our party and all of us were delighted wirh oue meals.

Great little gem in Roseburg! We did the mixology class and it was awesome. Laid back and fun with great drinks and snacks. The guy running the show seemed ready for any group, he seemed to feednoff our sarcasm and add some humor to the night! If only they had bike racks for our bikes it would be perfect!

Very nice motif and menu options for this small town. Gracious host who was also the owner, was courteous and helpful as was his staff. Menu choices were upscale buy not terribly high priced. Service was quick and efficient. Salad and homemade soup were wonderful Main courses of stuffed pork chops and the filet Mignon were wonderful, alto, my steak did have some gristle in it, it still tasted very good. My wifes' filet was fabulous and could be almost cut with a fork. Definitely worth the time to stop in for a linen tablecloth meal. Well worth it.

Several delicious vegetarian choices and great music every Thursday. Chef Jay is excited about the new Autumn menu starting next week. Friendly & comfortable place. Going to start coming every week!

This was our first visit to the Blackbird Bar & Grill since they opened in their new location. We went partly because "Party of Five" was performing, and partly because we remembered the great food and relaxed, shabby-chic atmosphere of the old downtown spot. We weren't disappointed. The new location seems almost hidden at first; tucked in behind a convenience store in a small shopping center on the edge of downtown. There's no large signs, only a small logo on the doors that's hard to see from the dark parking lot. But once inside, the place is nicely decorated and well-appointed. There's a nice-sized but cozy dining room up front with the stage and a less formal bar area behind. We arrived at 7pm (reservations are a good idea). I had the ribeye steak with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus as my entree, and started with roasted tomato and garlic soup. Rose had the same soup, and the seafood pasta for her entree. The food was perfect! The wine list was impressive, and our server was quite knowledgable. On her recommendation, we chose a 2011 Claret from Spangler Vineyards (local to Umpqua Valley). Nice tannins to go opposite my steak, but a lighter body to go well enough with Rose's seafood pasta. The band began to play at 8pm, and their silky smooth performance was awesome, perfectly complementing the experience. Dessert was creme brûlée and french press coffee. A Perfect evening. If you're looking for a quick dinner, an inexpensive meal, or a family place, this is NOT what you want. The Blackbird is about an elegant evening's entertainment for people with mature, discerning tastes. It's not cheap, but they definitely deliver for the price. First of all, they should get Yelp to categorize them as a Restaurant, not a bar, tho they have both. Its definitely a fine-dining experience with the bar in the back & out of sight. At new location in Southgate Plaza, next to the Mongolian Grill, no one is likely to find it just by driving around. Their new location has been decorated extensively and is elegant. Not many restaurants in Roseburg even have tablecloths! Yes, its expensive, particularly if you order a bottle of wine, a side salad, entree & desert. But all so good and excellent service. The Vouvray, a wonderful slightly sweet white wine is hard to find in town and was superb. The salads with a house-made blue cheese was unique and wonderful. Ron's steak was finally cooked well-done without sending it back at least once. They lost a star because my duck was tough and undercooked tho still delicious with an orange cranberry sauce. French chocolate cheesecake (enough for two nights) we got to go - oh yum. Definitely a special occasion place you don't want to miss.

My daughter and I have returned for dinner at the new location several times since right after Blackbird reopened following their closure downtown. Although the food is generally quite good, the menu is very limited and the prices are high compared to their small portions. We ate there last night and one of the two specials was steelhead trout served with angel hair pasta, which sounded yummy to me. I enjoy both, especially angel hair pasta. When my plate arrived at our table, there was no pasta in sight; the trout was served on a bed of rice, along with a very small quantity of green beans. I immediately asked our server why the pasta wasn't on the plate, and she told me that she made a mistake -- the pasta had been served with the trout the night before, but was not available last night. No apology was made, and there wasn't even an "oops" or an "uh-oh" from her. Any time my daughter and I have eaten dinner at Blackbird, the very smallest portion of butter has been served with their bread. Last night was the worse. The amount of butter on the bread plate was laughable; it was the teeniest dab ever. We always end up asking for more butter. This restaurant certainly comes across as frugal when it comes to doling out butter, and they look ridiculous for it. A man was present when we entered the restaurant and it was he who seated my daughter and me. He was unfriendly and barely greeted us. If you're reading this, it was you in the shirt with a bright, splotchy print. He placed our menus on the table, but was not our server. My daughter and I have seen him in the past in the restaurant and I'm guessing that he could be the owner. His manner could be a lot more welcoming and friendlier. He did approach our table at two different times while we were dining, and both times referred to us as "you guys." Both my daughter and I are grown women, and I'm a senior. I absolutely cringe when we're addressed as "you guys" when we dine out. This isn't Denny's, after all. This man should know better. I'm beginning to no longer enjoy dining at Blackbird and will think twice about overspending at this restaurant, given the high prices and the quality of service.

Great service. Great food. Table orders included the muscle pasta special, salmon, pumpkin sausage soup, and Mac n ribs special. Thumbs up all around the table. Come, eat, enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

Grrrrr........my friend called me to say that there was a sign up saying the Blackbird was open today until 8PM (#?!?!%). I drove down from Eugene to eat there, and it turns out that they just forgot to take down their sign from a different day. They were closed. Careless, and for me, a costly mistake. Take care if you want to try the blackbird, apparently they are only open unpredictably. BOO...

The Art Deco atmosphere and low light made the atmosphere welcoming and intimate, quite an accomplishment as it appears the space was a warehouse at one time. The food was nicely prepared and presented although I thought the portions were somewhat small for the premium price. A nice place for an upscale dining experience.

It seems like a great place, fancy and with good selection but... The duck breast entrée is bad.. Bad bad bad.. My friends are the beef entrée and told me it was one of the best dish they've had.. The cheese plate was a complete joke, we waited one hour and 22 minutes for our food! I give it three stars just because the way it looks which is really nice and because the workers were nice..
