Amazing night out with my girls! We came into town from Portland and California to celebrate my sis in law getting married and the karaoke and dancing and locals at Ricks were sooooo fun and welcoming! Rick himself was DJing and made our night so special! The bartender was such a sweetheart as well! We will definitely be back next time we pass through!

I normally love this kind of place but this one star is partly for irresponsibility and the rest about rudeness when it wasn't necessary. Similar to the other review where the people were told to get off the floor (no excuse for treating people that way) We were on our way up going north through Oregon for a wedding. Someone had told us the roadhouse was a great place to go so we called ahead and asked how late the kitchen was open. The person on the phone told us they would serve us as along as we could make it by 5 minutes to 10pm they would let us in and it would be worth it. That sounded fair. So we hustled and we actually made it there around 9:30pm and the door was locked.. We called from the parking lot and they answered and told us rudely that they were closed and that the time was "bar time" which apparently means 30 minutes ahead?. The guy even acted as if we were stupid for not knowing this rather then saying something like "sorry we're already closed" or "sorry, we closed early because no one was here" as they clearly did. Since we are not from this town we just didn't know that the place considered itself a bar, what "bar time" was there, or that trusting the person on the phone would mislead us into a position where essentially know one was open and we couldn't get anything to eat after a 10 hour drive. Thanks for being unnecessarily rude

Don't think twice! At first glance, you may get spooked, but they have excellent food and the bartender/waitress was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed some good food here and met some locals. Try it out! You won't be disappointed.

Great service, good food, entertaining karaoke & lot's of tv screens. Just wish they didn't tack on 1.50 when food is ordered for takeout.

Very friendly, very hometown-with real regulars and everything! Hubbs had had the quesadilla, which was very good he said-sides of guacamole, sour cream and salsa. I had had the nachos minus the meat with all the sides...very good! The mariner game was on and had the chance to people watch-always a favorite. Looks to be a very favorite local place with a lot of good talk going around. Would recommend if you want good food, good environment and don't mind town talk.

Fun little bar to run into on the coast. Cheap drinks, and we happen to show up on karaoke night. There were only 4 of us, but we are a fun group that loves to have fun with everyone around us. Karaoke was a blast. Dance music was fun. We were told the 4 of us needed to get off the floor to let's others have fun. Umm excuse me??? There is plenty of room for all of us. We lead the entire bar in a birthday song for a bachelorette party member. Mostly good fun, but let everyone have fun, there's plenty of room for everyone.

Such a small place with Enormous personality!!:)- great service! And Delisious food & specials! Love the flower garden Back deck...also! Highly recommend :)

My husband has decreed this is the best meal he's had since we've been in Oregon. Now granted, he's a meat & potato guy so the food in Portland isn't always his favorite, but it was great to see him enjoy a burger out here. I had the fish & chips and it really hit the spot as did the drinks. We have a soft spot for Rockaway and this will definitely be someplace we come again.

Booze. Karaoke. TVs. Lotto & gaming. Crazy locals. Nice staff. How could you go wrong?? I noticed many bars in the Rockaway area (all 3 of them?) are not fully stocked. No biggie. Watching the drunken locals is a great time. Horrible karaoke is even more hilarity. Didn't try the food but the drinks were just fine. Nice and strong.

Rick is the man, and his Roadhouse is amazing. Come for Karaoke, stay for great affordable drinks, friendly folks, and a killer dance party DJed by the man himself. 10 of us rolled in from Portland on a busy Saturday night and were treated like regulars. Cheers, Rick. We'll see you again soon.

On a mid September Friday night the place was somewhat noisy, busy, and smelled of old beer. We ate at the bar and the burgers were delicious as were the fries. Reasonable prices, friendly wait staff, and for a filling meal, the Ricks Road House was fine.

First night in rockaway looking for something open. Kind of dark, but great food. The bartender was the only staff working that night....but took great care of us. Had clam strips and husband had a burger, both were fantastic. Felt more like a hang out for the locals, but felt very welcomed.

Go to Ricks if you want to share a brew with the locals otherwise there are better places to eat down the road in bay city. I had their halibut & chips based on the reviews here. The fish were little triangles of frozen pre battered filets. The fries were good. Next day I ate at the Fish Peddler in Bay City. That's the real deal.

Wow. The BF & I were pleasantly surprised with this place. The people were very nice even though it was more of a local crowd and the drinks were cheap. The menu is small but man is it good! We ordered the Cheeseburger and the Halibut burger. Both served with fries (shoestring, very crispy outside), nice veggie condiments (no wilted lettuce or soggy tomatoes, onions were not too overpowering) and on a perfect bun (soft but sturdy enough to hold the sandwich/burger together). The burger was so juicy, like unbelievably deliciously melt in your mouth juicy- cooked to perfection. They use GOOD FRESH halibut- if someone would have handed me the fried halibut burger with nothing else, I still would be writing this 5 star review. All in all, very impressed and think EVERYONE should go here. If I come back- it will be my first stop.

Halibut was great, and the fries were cooked the way they should be - crispy and crunchy. Fun local watching (a happy bunch). Great service and food. Nice beer choices. Also we had the cheeseburger - good and cheesy! The chili cheese fries were also perfect!

Rick is great. His help is great. When Rick is there I would give a 5 star. Rick makes this place. Very outgoing and funny. He shows great you tube videos that make you just laugh. Food is very good! It's our place in Rockaway Beach.

My boyfriend and I actually got engaged this week on the beach down in rockaway. It was a rainy windy day and we wanted to grab a drink and celebrate. We had gone to ricks the night before and had so much fun that we went back after the proposal. Both times we went we had excellent service and such great company from the locals. I would fully recommend this bar to anyone looking for friendly people and great drinks!!

Found this place on a blustery Saturday afternoon on a weekend trip to Rockaway and we were so glad we dropped in! My parents got the Halibut and Chips and I got the Clams and Chips; delicious!! The owner, Rick is hilarious and made us feel like one of the locals. I don't usually review places but this was worth telling fellow Yelpers to check it out.
(5)Launie D.
Perfect little find, walked in with Tina Turner playing and personality from Rick. Chose the Halibut and Chips, a great choice. The commentary from the locals was great.
(4)Brittney L.
Great place to watch some football! They have 4 or 5 big screens and every seat in the place has a view. Great staff too. We met Rick when we were in there, great guy. During half time, he played funny youtube videos on a couple of the smart TVs to keep everyone entertained. Great atmosphere, prices, and dive bar food! Definitely be coming back!

Be aware this is a bar that has food. The service was awesome... The hubby had burger and fries, I had fish and fries and both were yummy. I had a few beers ( nothing fancy) and the Hubs had a long island...I'll just say they actually limit you to two per visit...they don't skimp on the alcohol. For a roadhouse setting this place was very cool. Only reason we didn't rate it 5 stars was because there were two very drunk girls with lots of drama that talked the entire time we were there.
(4)Big Daddy H.
Never again....seafood was out of a box from the freezer. The location was understaffed...not my idea of a fun atmosphere.

We were desperate for a quick snack on our day of traveling and Rick's fit the bill. We got a prawn platter and some fries and onion rings to share. The prawns and fries were fine, the onion rings were great. Whomever put in the hours the first time for this place posted that it's only open Mondays. I've submitted the changes on the hours. They're open every day. :P
(3)Karly B.
Service was good, place was clean, restroom was fine. I would have given 4 stars because my burger and beer battered onion rings were really good, but my husband went with the special (porterhouse steak) and it want so special... Stick with the normal pub fare and you won't be disappointed!
(3)Calen K.
Been here a couple times now when visiting. The cook is like an artist in the kitchen. For bar type food this place is top notch! They have seafood and steak and I will try then eventually, but the burgers are just so good. Listening to the locals while you wait is priceless!
(5)Jane K.
Excellent service and excellent food for a beachtown tavern. If you are staying somewhere on the beach, I recommend getting your dinner to go and then taking it back to the room to watch the sunset. Or if it's cloudy, stick around Rick's and watch the baseball game while you chat with other patrons.

My husband and I were starved when we got to Rockaway last weekend. We stopped at Rick's for lunch and enjoyed our meal so much that we ended up going back there the next day for lunch. We can recommend the taco salad, patty melt, reuben and halibut fish & chips. The taco salad was the best I have ever eaten. Very fresh and very tasty. My husband loves a good reuben and his sandwich was tasty. The fish & chips were good (good tasting fish and lots of yummy fries). We will definitely be back. Great atmosphere and Rick was very pleasant.

I ate my "lunch" today @3pm on a weekday. Should have been a "down-time" for a restaurant. I had prawns & fries with a green salad & iced tea. All food & drink was great! The salad was crisp & had fresh ingredients. Service was friendly & prompt. I'll gladly come back!
(4)Kevin G.
My Wife and I just had dinner here. The Halibut and fries were great but the Clam strips were to die for. They were made with razor clams and were the BEST I have ever had. The service and the prices were great too. This is the place to eat in Rockaway Beach.

we stopped here on our coastal trip, and were extremely happy with everything -- the fried halibut was outstanding, and the portion was huge. a solid variety of beers on tap for a dive bar as well -- Widmer in addition to old favorites. the best thing was the service and fellow patrons. they were very warm and friendly to out-of-staters like us. really a wonderful way to get acquainted to the Oregon coast. it seems like the best bar in Rockaway Beach to me.
(5)Lindsay D.
A big group of us from Portland were in the area and stumbled onto Ricks looking for karaoke and it was the best part of ur whole weekend. I hit a lot of karaoke in Portland, and the book at Ricks was HUGE. He was incredibly friendly and fun and manned the karaoke while running the place - all effortlessly. Admittedly, I didn't eat, but my friends chowed down and our drinks came quick. I can't wait to go back!
(5)Justin B.
This is a bar with a pretty good sized menu (for a bar). The fries are the battered, crispy kind (yum, but so sinful). The fried halibut was good, breading not so thick. Salad was all iceberg, not my fav but nice crunch. Bartender / server was super nice and helpful.
(4)Courtney p.
The owner Rick is very outgoing. It has a wonderful atmosphere. The food is very delicious. I don't drink, so I can't tell you much on that. If your coming to the Rockaway, or the Tillamook area, I would definitely give it a try.
(5)Michael R.
4 to 5 stars. Sports type bar, kind of appeared to be the happening place for the locals. Rick and wife very friendly, nice energy in the place! Burger (patty melt) was cooked perfect. Reasonably priced!!! Did no go back, wife thought it was too loud said it gave her a headache, I hear that all the time....regretful again : ) Will go back when in that neck of the woods again and the wife's memory fades, it was not that bad. Wish we had come here for a second time rather than trying the other place I rated in town.

Rick is the BEST! We drive down to the coast from Portland specifically for Meatloaf Monday. The food is amazing, and the service is even better. Great down-home cooking. HIGHLY recommended!
