Not your traditional sushi... squid nigiri with a mint leaf? A roll covered in so much sauces it doesn't matter what fish is inside it will always taste the same? BUT... I would say it is a creative modern take on sushi that is accessible to all people. The non-sushi entrees are great, service is fast and friendly, i plan on going back, i just wont expect a traditional sushi experience.

Stopped by a second, and a third time. Great sushi for this small town. Ordered the Hurricane roll again (thought it was a fishermen's roll the first time but was mistaken - it's Hurricane) - it continues to be a favorite. We also tried the Crazy roll, and Mount Fuji #72 - best for a group appetizer, saucy - but the bay scallops are so delicate). Oishi is pleasantly busy each visit, good service, delicious sushi, and perfect rice. Vegetable tempura was as great as the first and second visit. Not oily, fresh vegetables including eggplant. California rolls - superb. They do offer traditional sushi rolls as well as sashimi. Limited sashimi offerings. Hopefully the variety of fresh fish will improve over time as they establish a solid customer base. I keep toggling between 4 and 5 stars. It's 5 stars for Central Oregon. We have went back many times and each time has been a great experience. I'm wishing for seared ahi!

Went here last night wait staff barely acknowledged me the food was ok but not the best

I had the fisherman, crazy, and the 007 rolls and the were amazing. I have ate a lot of sushi all up and down the west coast and Oishi might be the best sushi I have ever had. Its hard to go to any new sushi place and get 3 rolls that all knock it out of the park. Who would have thought you could find sushi like this in eastern oregon. BOOM

Ya Ya Ya ...If you like sushi you'll really like this place .Every time I come here its busy.the service is great, food is awesome . I like trying a different sake every time I come here .The pricing is what you expect to pay for quality food such as sushi . The binto box is a good way to go .there's a variety of choices to choose from specially for those who are into sushi you can pick chicken beef or what ever ,best deal for your buck..the soup is very good along with there refreshing salad ....we hit this place once a month...a must to try ...

This is the best sushi I have ever had.. And Portland, OR has many sushi restaurants. Each dish is bursting with flavor and fresh. The service is welcoming, friendly, and punctual. I would make a trip down to Redmond just to eat here. Sushi will never be the same...

This sushi restaurant is not only the best Sushi I have had in Central Oregon, but comparable to the really good sushi restaraunts in big cities, like Chicago!! So great to have such a great Sushi restaraunt in a small town. They have cooked options also, their Bento boxes are very popular also!!

I looked forward with anticipation for Oishi's opening and have not been disappointed. The menu is exciting and the food is good. I have been four times since they opened. I've had the sashimi plate, tempura, rainbow roll, bento box (twice). I'm giving it four stars because one night everthing in the bento box was undercooked. Everything else has been fantastic. Beautiful interior! A few kinks to get worked out as in any new place during their "soft" opening, with their grand opening coming in August. Sushi chefs are great.

Had lunch here today and it was fantastic. Quick service and amazing food. I would highly recommend this resturant to anyone!

Did not expect this! Excellent Japanese food in Redmond OR. Very clean, nice ambiance and service was great too. Love the lunch combo- great value and quality!

I have eaten at Oishi a dozen times, dinner and lunch. First, and of utmost importance, Oishi is clean. If restaurants followed the Hippocratic oath of "first do no harm" then as applied to the food industry it would read "please don't get me sick". Having said that: The food is well prepared and well presented. The service has improved alot since the opening weeks. It was very slow. My only concern and request to the owners is please look at cost. The prices are high for Redmond. Yes, the Dow is at 16,000 but that may not be enough to sustain restaurants in Redmond. A 12.5% reduction may be necessary. Go and enjoy Oishi!

I'm so excited about this one it was the best thing ever. The fact that you are so much fun and addicting. I just want to be able to get the best thing ever.

Some of the worst sushi I have had. Frozen tuna or very low quality tuna, the fish that is showcased by the sushi chefs is wrapped in plastic wrap when customers are there. Doesn't make the fish appetizing when you compare it to the sushi places in Bend. One of their rolls was so bad we didn't even eat it. The server noticed that we didn't eat it, asked what we didn't like, we proceeded to tell him what was wrong with it and he didn't offer to switch it out, take it off our bill or anything. The only thing this place has going for it is that it's in Redmond. We will drive to Bend from now on....

EXPENSIVE and not worth it. Sushi is generally expensive but I literally have no idea how a few rolls and noodles is $80. The sushi was just ok. The avocado rolls were generous. I would avoid this if you can!

Mediocre food since the only sushi place I really like is sushi land. Very heavy culture in the restaurant if that's your taste. My bento with a soda was over $20 very pricy for one person.

Great sushi! I think best in Central Oregon. We've had sushi in Hawaii, PDX, CA, etc and it rivals them all! Service has always been good. They have great lunch specials as well.

As a family ( with 6 yr old and 3 yr old children) that loves sushi and are new to Redmond, we had to try. Wish they had a child size bento and were a little more family friendly. The food is excellent, potion to amount per roll could be better. For instance, we ordered a philly and another specialty roll each came with 5 pieces. It would be nice if there were more and an even number.

When sushi first came to Redmond, I was skeptical, but it soon became our favorite restaurant. The food is great and the service is too. If this sushi restaurant were in Portland, I'd go there every time I visited.

Great Lunch Specials!! For only $9.99 you get two choices from a large (20) list of different items and it comes with Miso soup, a salad and white rice (brown rice extra). I had the spicy tuna and the gyoza (lightly fried wontons) and it came with all the sides mentioned. Yum. Good sized potions and the "not so small" smaller lunch portion is definitely filling. But if you have a bigger appetite go for the 11.99 lunch special for three choices, plus three sides. You can't beat these prices. I HAVE to recommend that you get the "007, " and the "Tiger Roll" WOW what delicious and unique rolls. Service is warm, friendly, quick, attentive. They are happy to answer all your questions and explain the various rolls. A Fabulous new restaurant in Redmond, Oregon.

We went there on advice of my daughter, one of her favorite sushi spots in town. We ordered a couple nigiris and a roll each. I had the Redmond Roll, love the spice and no mayo or cream cheese like most spicy tuna rolls. My girlfriend had the rainbow roll... Very nice. My daughter had the dragon roll, I think it's called. Great service, good quality for the area. I'll be back when I'm back in town

Oishi Japanese Restaurant just opened this past week and we accidently stumbled upon it on Sunday evening. The restaurant is gorgeous! They have re-done the space and it is spacious, comfortable and has lots of windows to gaze out of. This was our first time there and we sat at the sushi bar during our visit. The food was very good. We had a bento box and one of their speciality rolls and were happy with our selections. We made a small recommendation to our waitress regarding a sauce but otherwise the food was great and the service was nice. We spent some time chatting with our waitress about the establisment and she was super friendly and open to our suggestions. I am giving 3 stars to start out as I think that they have a some room to grow (and they will!) and we will be back soon. My boyfriend and I are very happy that this restaurant has opened! If you are in the area, it's worth checking out.

I feel sorry for the locals - the most disappointing Japanese food I've had in awhile.

The best thing that has happened to Redmond in a long time! We needed this beautiful variety. The service and food is amazing! And the inside remodel is so fresh and gorgeous! Truly a upgrade for downtown

Soooo good. Went there for my birthday dinner. The service was great. The bento box is a great deal for all the food you get. The avocado and cucumber rolls are super fresh. It's my new favorite restaurant. I live in ool radio and I have been to lots of other sushi places but this was the best one by far.

Highly recommend this place. It can compete with any sushi in Portland. Sukemono salad, baked scallop appetizer and tuna carpaccio. All highly recommended. Wait staff friendly and accommodating. Ambience casual yet lovely. Fish and vegetables very fresh.

Walk in at 530 on a Thursday night. Seated us by the front door. Asked for a table farther from the door to avoid being cold. Was told all window seats are for reservations. Uh. Hello. It's 530 pm in Redmond Oregon. After dinner, I counted the number of tables open. Only one of the four tables at the windows had guests. I tipped the bare minimum. Mr. Business owner. You earned a 1 star. Your employees didn't receive a tip for their hard work. Now think about it. Was parking me by the front door really worth all that? Oh. The food? Average at best. Avoid this place.

Worst wait.... Very rude waitress. Didn't even apologize for our 1 hour wait. I gate writing a bad review but I feel I've been treated better going to a McDonald's.. maybe they need to hire more staff that are friendly.

Sushi is something you might not expect to find in Redmond, and it's a welcome addition to the restaurant scene. We've eaten at this restaurant several times and have enjoyed it every time. They hit high notes on almost every aspect including wait staff, food, decor and dine-ability. The first time we were at Oishi we tried a full selection of their sushi offerings, and I can say they are all good, some excellent - well worth having again. The second time we tried their bento boxes; you can choose two items from their menu plus you get salad, rice and their awesome miso soup. These are very filling! And, the salad I could probably do without - or maybe so if it was switched up to something more authentically Japanese - but it was good fresh food nonetheless. The last time we were there we tried a couple of their noodle soup selections, and I can't stop thinking about how good those were! Be warned though, they're hot when they get to the table! We tried the Ramen which included slices of sumptuous pork, an egg, some seaweed, and crisp bean sprouts (much better than any Ramen you might get out of a box!) and NabeYaki Udon - incredible! This one comes with shrimp tempura, fishcake, poached egg, chicken, mushroom, green onion and seaweed. So, I've probably gone over the top to elaborate on the food, so let's take a second to talk about the wait staff. In a nutshell, they're good -- occasionally a little standoffish and there might be a bit of a language barrier sometimes, but that just makes the whole experience more authentic as far as I'm concerned. Overall, fairly attentive and eager to please. The decor is outstanding! Particularly by Redmond's standards, and it's a very cool place to enjoy a night out on the town. I might also mention that the menu can be a little confusing, especially if you really want to know what it is you're ordering - as some of the pictures don't necessarily correlate with the actual menu item and some of the items don't have a description, but not a real issue if you're patient and enjoy trying new things. This one we're intent to visit frequently.

The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had. My grandpa's hamachi sashimi and my mixed sunomono were delicious, and the genmai tea paired perfectly. Didn't expect to find such amazing sushi this far inland, but was pleasantly surprised :)

Oishii indeed! We came in for an early dinner on a weeknight, and had a great time. The server put up with our antics and brought us food quickly. The food was great, fresh sushi, fun appetizers, good fried rice. Sushi in Redmond is Oishi!

Great service, excellent variety on the menu. The Power Roll (#118) is exceptional. Hoping they have mint leaves next time we go in because I really want to try the 'Mint Chip' appetizer.

Will defiantly be back and I always recommend this place to anymore looki

I have eaten here many times since Oishi has opened. I have never disappointed in their food. It's AMAZING! The fish is fresh and of good quality. Their rolls are creative and tasty. The chefs are very pleasant and accomodating. The atmosphere is wonderful. It's so great that there is no longer a need to drive to Bend for fabulous sushi!!

Good sushi but everything else was sub par. The pork ribs tasted like something out of a microwave dinner. Calamari lacked seasoning. We will be sticking to the sushi place in bend.

I stumbled upon Oishi tonite while in Redmond on business. I must say it was a pleasant find. The atmosphere was very fun, clean, fresh and updated - especially for a sushi restaurant. I received friendly and good service. However, I am not sure the 2 sushi rolls I had were anything to write home about, but overall the experience was enjoyable. If I come back, I will give something else on the menu a try - like their bento boxes.

Our favorite new Sushi joint! We always had to drive to Bend for Sushi- we are SO happy that our favorite new place is where we live! The decor is beautiful, the fish is fresh, the sake is great, and we always get good service! The yellowtail carpaccio is our favorite way to start the meal! We really love Oishi, and for the quality the price is very fair. Go give 'em a try!

OK; so maybe one shouldn't rate a place on their first week of business. My husband and I went to Oishi's last night and had a wonderful meal. So glad we tried it again! We had tempura, which was light and not greasy in the slightest. A rainbow roll and a #104 roll (shrimp??) were both excellent. Will definitely be back again!

My husband and I were passing through Redmond, Oregon from a camping trip in the Wallowas headed toward Eugene. It was about 6:30 pm, we were hungry, cold, and it was raining. When we stepped inside Oishi we knew right away we had found an oasis. We had spicy edemame, crispy tofu, tempura udon, and veggie udon. It was delicious. This restaurant is elegant, clean, and lovely. I certainly hope this Japanese family make a go of it in this smaller central Oregon town.

My favorite food in Redmond. Every time I've been there the food was excellent, fresh and soooo tasty! My mouth is watering as I write about it. Eat there if you crave fish as I often do.

We have eaten here a few times and enjoyed each time. Good variety served the desires of all our guests. Atmosphere is pleasant but not exceptional. Service was good each time we have eaten here. We have walked in each time with no reservation and found a table, even though they were pretty full most times. We have our favorites in Bend and Portland and are very pleased that there is such a high quality sushi restaurant in Redmond. We'll be back again and again.

Just ate at Oishi Japanese Restaurant in Redmond. The food and the service were both excellent. I had the shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer, while my wife had the calamari. We shared the sashimi combination platter and the chef's special suhi roll which was covered with sashimi, and we each had the Miso soup. The Miso soup and the shrimp and vegetable tempura were as good as I have ever had. The sashimi was fresh and excellent as well. The service was terrific and we will definitely return to this establishment and take our friends as well.

Great service, sat alone at the sushi bar. Food was good, nothing crazy original but a very nice find for Redmond, OR. Well done Oishi. Also, thank you so much for reprinting my receipt and emailing it my way a month after I ate there. AWESOME SERVICE!

Welcome Oishi! What a great addition to downtown Redmond. They did a fantastic job remodeling the ground floor corner of the historic Redmond Hotel. Gracious, attentive staff coupled with a fresh Japanese menu...a home run for Redmond!
