8 of us for dinner on a Saturday night. We sat at 2 tables and everything was wonderful. 4 of us went thru many baskets of chips and salsa. We all loved our food. The sopapillas at the end hit the spot at the end of the meal. Thanks to José Pepe for the great service.

I have a confession to make I've only ever tried the enchiladas here but I just can't get off of them. The sauce they put on them is from another world. I've tried to get the recipe out of them but they won't budge. The waiters are super friendly. Service is good paced. Friendly atmosphere. Chips and salsa when you sit down. And my favorite, they always keep the waters full:)

This place has been the family go to Mexican food. It has always been good, but this last experience is different. I will start by say that the prices are now way to high. They have truly let greed get in the way of their judgment. Everything that was under $10 is now over $15. No only did they double their prices, but they cut the quality in half. I will post a picture of $12 nachos or should I say a pile of slop. Taco Bell takes more pride in the way the food looks. Very disappointing, as this will be another story of a failed restaurant in Redmond. Listen to your customers before it's to late and make some changes. As for my family and I. We will not be back until there is a sign with lower prices and new management.

Was driving form Portland to Bend and saw this restaurant so stopped to have dinner. Service here was 0 Star. The server asked if we were ready to order and I asked for few more minutes to decide. I ordered #30; I very clearly asked for all chicken on my meal my partner even heard me say that. When my dish arrived the Tamale had beef in it. I asked the server that I don't eat beef and there is beef inside my Tamale. She said Tamale comes with beef only. I reminded her that I clearly requested all items with Chicken she said well it comes with Beef. I asked her to replace my Tamale (not the whole dish) with a chili rellenos and she immediately responded NO. I asked her what can you replace it with she offered a simple Taco. She never once offered an apology and in return gave me wired look. I also asked for hot sauce and was given habanero Paste without warning. Never saw her again until she brought the check. I was so disappointed and during the payment process she shows up and was friendly. I would never go here again when visiting rather would go the the other Mexican restaurant literally next door which I found is cheaper and had outstanding service per local resident!

Just moved to Redmond, have sampled a few of the local restaurants, but this was my first Mexican place. The food was great, salsa, bean dip and guacamole very good, the atmosphere was very pleasant, not noisy even though we sat near the front door. Decor is very pleasing and waitstaff attentive and fast. After five years in the Portland area, I have to say this place has my favorite one there beat by a mile. I should also mention that the menu is very extensive. Many unique choices and the prices are very reasonable compared to other Mexican restaurants I have been to anywhere in Oregon. Mexican is my favorite for dining out, and this place easily gets four stars.

I had the burrito mazatlan and it was outstanding! Food of four other family members was pretty standard mexican grub. The burrito mazatlan pushes my review to 4 star, the fact they didn't have that great a selection of beers on tap brings it back to a 3 star.

This is my go-to place when I have a burrito craving...which is quite often! The prices are good, service is friendly and fast, and the margaritas get the job done. I have had one food issue but it was taken care of in an incredibly expedient and friendly manner. I can't even count how many times I have been here. Weekend lunch menu for like $4.99 with rocking breakfast burritos. The only con I can think of would be the other patrons of the restaurant....sometimes the smell of cig smoke just emanating off them (it's a no smoking place) can ruin a meal. If you're feeling crazy order the Margarita Loco....at least I think that's what it's called....something along those lines...it's fun. Don't get the veggie burrito...it's awful.

We make trips from sisters to redmond just to eat here. Great location close to the airport. Service is very good and fast. Great lunch menu with $5 items. Best margaritas I've had in a long time and huge for the price. We always leave full and never disappointed.

I love Mazatlan. In Central Oregon, its an institution. The service is amazing and you can get seated, eat, and out in under 1/2 an hour usually. I miss the Old Red Barn Mazatlan used to be in, but the two locations in Redmond both have great atmosphere (if not hurting your eyes with bright colors). The prices are great, much more affordable than other fancier Mexican Restaurants.

They have a killer breakfast special menu. We go almost every weekend.

Great looking restaurant and good service but the food is extremely bland like it came right out of the can. (I'm from So.Cal so you gotta take my review with a grain of salt as we have the best Mexican food in the world.) Given the location it's probably the best Mexican joint in the area.

I've been here quite a few times after hiking and the meals have always filled me up. The last time I went in I was with friend who is pretty tall and I'm not very, so the lady who seated us asked if I needed a kids menu... I'm a bearded 23 year old... I started laughing and my friend did as well. After I had finished eating she came over and asked how my cheeseburger and fries were... I had a chicken burrito... The lady was awesome. She made last part of our drive to Eugene from Boise. Overall the food is pretty good and the service has always been great. I love the place as a post hiking spot, so after you hit Smith Rock, check it out.

Worse mexican food ever! Very bland! We ordered the fiesta platter and everything tasted the same. Cheap cheese, bland bean dip and the taquitos and flautas tasted the exact same. The nachos were soggy, with greasy chips and definitely not homemade guacamole dip. Do not waste your money...heck...taco bell taste better than this.

Between Diego's and Mazatlan, I felt like I covered all my Mexican bases this trip. There is nothing exciting about this restaurant, but kudos for quick, efficient service. The restaurant was clean, prices were reasonable and our meal took 1/2 the time as our visit to its upscale competition. They aren't open to substitutions, so as long as you go with the program, things will be just fine. It is a chain Mexican restaurant, so set your expectations accordingly.

I would give this place one star except that I know what other restaurants are in the area so I need to adjust based on location. I know from my visits to this area of Oregon that I will be disappointed in the food - this was no exception. The few times I've been here I've thought the food was pretty bland. It's not as flavorful as I'm used to. The enchiladas are edible and so are the beans and rice. The chips and salsa are the tastiest part of the meal. What really amazed me was that they use store bought shells for tacos, etc. They don't even fry them up. So weird to me.

Surprised at the bad reviews because this place is pretty popular and I love it. We eat there regularly and have taken my family from out of town there. My family especially loves the chicken mole and they ask to go there every time they come over from the valley. (It's also worth mentioning that they lived in New Mexico for 10 years and are very picky about their Mexican food). We love that they serve salsa and bean dip with the chips. Our service has always been good, although sometimes it takes a minute to get seated or to pay because they don't keep someone up front all the time. Prices are reasonable, good selection, have always enjoyed whatever I order. My only complaint would be that their satellite restaurant on 23rd is not the exact same quality. They're still good and we order takeout from them all the time but the food is just not quite as good as the main restaurant, and the interior needs updating. Otherwise, I love Mazatlan!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
