High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Terrible service! Waited twenty minutes didn't even get water. Asked the waitress twice for service and it never came. I could understand if they busy but they weren't. We got up and left.

Walked here from the Comfort Suites last night. It's clean & tidy. Sat at the bar and had a drink. While reading the menu I noticed they had calorie counts on every single item. I wanted an appetizer but just wanted something light, so I ended up with a bowl of French onion soup. It came out very fast and was one of the best French onion soups I've had. Good service, friendly - works for me!

Service was slow even though they were not very busy. The food was as expected from the chain which we like. The problem with the food was we didn't get the wrap we ordered, instead we got someone else's. We just ate it anyway because we were tired and didn't want to wait. We mentioned the problem when we got the ticket. Our server immediately knew what happened, apologized and discounted the wrap. That was cool. We paid with cash, $40 for a $22.85 ticket. Our server brought us back $17 in change. We just smiled and had something to talk about for the car ride.

Very very slow service. I waited near the (so called host stand) for about 5 minutes before someone even acknowledged that I was there. A quite Wednesday night and it takes 5 minutes to get water and 10 minutes to get the check. I wouldn't suggest this location.

My steak was inedible and had a slimy texture. I sent it back and ate the salad and potato. Server evidently resented my sending the steak back.

We visited this Applebee's location on a Monday evening. They were not that busy and our party of 8 (2 adults and 6 children) were seating fairly quickly. Our waitress was pleasant through most of the night and was efficient in filling our drinks and taking our order. The problem began when we waited for 30 minutes to have the beginning of our meal brought to us. My niece received uher meal first. It took another 5+ minutes for 5 more meals to be brought to us. I noticed that they had forgotten my broccoli and the waitress said she would go get the two other meals and check on the broccoli. It took another 5+ minutes for her to bring my two young daughters their dinner (my daughters were very hungry and I let them start eating my meal until their meal showed up) and tell me that my broccoli would be out shortly. Needless to say my broccoli never made it to the table. When the waitress brought our check to the table I reminded her about the broccoli and asked to have it deducted from my check. Her response was that she never charged me for it. The broccoli was a part of my meal and not an "extra" so I asked if I was paying full price for my meal and she told me that I was. After which she accused me of not wanting the broccoli. I stated that I did want my broccoli but did not receive it and felt that I should not have to pay full price for a meal when I did not get all of my meal. She discussed all of this with the manager who very reluctantly gave me $2.50 off my $14 meal! Worst service ever at this Applebee's. We have been to Applebee's restaurants all over the US from Washington to Florida and never had an issue like this. We love Applebee's, but I will not be back to this Applebee's location in Redmond Oregon. I am very disappointed as to how I was treated and the level of service that they provided.

My wife and I went here as we've had good experiences at other locations but unfortunately we didn't even have the chance here. We came in on a Friday night at 9pm and the restaurant was about a little less than half full. Not exactly packed especially for a Friday night. We walked in and there was no one at the hostess station. We waited a few minutes and and then started to realize that nobody even cared we were standing there waiting to be seated. We actually waited for 7 minutes which felt like an eternity when there's nobody else waiting and nobody at the hostess station. After our 7 minute wait we simply left. If they didn't even acknowledge our presence when trying to be seated, I can't imagine what our service would've been like if we actually sat down. After reading all the reviews, it seems that service is an overall challenge for this location.

Generally Applebees is a safe bet for a cold beer and quick appetizer. Good news is that the beer was cold, even though they were not serving any Bud Light, aka America's beer. Bad news is that our server forgot about us after our initial order and my glass was empty for 10 minutes before she acknowledged we might want a second beer. Nachos were the same as always taste wise, but came out like they got dropped or slid all the way over to one side. Looked bad and not very appetizing. We waited for 15 minutes and stood up at our table before our server noticed we were ready to leave. When the check came back, she had forgotten to add our second round. We left enough to cover the bill and a tip and headed out amid other customers who were complaining that they couldn't get anyone to take their money.
(1)Jay J.
Ugh...worst service EVER., when we arrived there was another couple in front of us they seated them promptly ,we stood there for 5 minutes before we got seated. The only good thing about the service was that they kept filling up our limitless glass of iced tea. The only reason the food tasted good was that there was so much seasoning and salt on it you couldn't taste anything else I had the chicken with potatoes and it was somewhat dried out... The appetizer was good which was the artichoke heart dip with chips. If I was going there just for a drink and appetizers that would probably be much better that way I can see myself. The only way I would go back there as if someone else was buying .
(2)Deanna P.
Worst service I have ever had in my whole life. 20 minute's for the wait or to take our drink order. 10 minutes later we got them! I waited a total of 65 minutes and still had no lunch...we left.
(1)Brian L.
This may have been the worst service I've ever received in my life. Being a former server myself none of what a server should do was performed. She didn't introduce herself, and forcefully demanded to know what we were ordering. She also presumed that due to our appearance we would only being ordering appetizers. She was just plain rude, and I will probably never eat there again, due to her disrespectful service.
(1)Candace F.
Terrible everything. First the light at our table was out, there was a crack in my husbands beer glass, ordered fries for the kids they came after our meals came out, food came out and a $13 salad have hardly any lettuce on it, one of our wedge salads never came, fries were cold, Cole slaw didn't come out with meal. Customer service was terrible, management was poor, and waitress was slow at best. Will never come back!
(1)Bailey P.
Absolutely horrible. Got seated and only order apps and water. Took us 20 minutes just to get our waters and it's slow. Horrible service.
(1)Denise H.
Well once again we were let down here. II will not be going back.
(1)Meryl L.
Sat for 20 minutes at the bar without a single person acknowledging us. Needless to say we left.
(1)Mollie K.
Delicious food! Seriously the only place I will eat a steak. I also love the asian type salad. Recently had a waiter that was so kind (they all are) but he was funny and offered after dinner entertainment with cards. Ok this sounds childish but holy crap this guy should be in Vegas. Made our trip here so memorable. Still have no clue how this guy was pulling off these card tricks. The music is always good and of course can't complain about the food.
(5)Mike K.
We eat at this Applebees frequently and usually enjoy it. We went in today and the service was only fair. I ordered a nine ounce steak medium and it was medium well and simply was not good. My baked potato came without any butter and the French onion soup was only warm. This Applebees no longer has gravy with any meal. Will try other restaurants in the Redmond area that have a better quality of food.
(2)Jeff M.
I've been reading through the reviews here and I just have this to say - Virtually every restaurant in central Oregon has slow servers. Seriously, we've been living here for 10 years and it is just amazing to me that so few restaurants actually provide the level of service that we expect everywhere else that we go. However, the food at Applebees is exactly as expected every time and it's not bad. This is a middle- market restaurant chain, people, not fine dining. We don't go to Applebees regularly but when we do, we know what is going to happen. We know it will take 5 minutes to get water. We know that the server is trying to visit the table as few times as they can get away with. We know that the manager will stop by the table after we finish dessert and if we don't order dessert then he won't. It's all pretty predictable and if you go there expecting a different experience, that's your fault. I rate this Applebees 3 stars because they provide exactly what I expect from them whenever we visit. Also, if you sit at the bar for 20 minutes without being served and the manager walks by you multiple times and you don't take some action to get his attention, shame on you.
(3)Liv W.
I like Applebees generally, but after waiting 20 minutes without even getting a water, we walked out. The restaurant was not busy, we watched the four staff members mill around and prioritize bar patrons. Big disappointment. We, like most people, don't have time to kill on lunch break!
(1)Joshua L.
Went for a quick beer and app with the wife. Sat at an empty bar for 20 minutes and watched the manager walk by us a dozen times and never acknowledge us. So we left and went elsewhere.
(1)Dhyana K.
After reading the reviews here at Yelp for Applebees, I just had to log in and offer a more current report - in short: Applebees really knows their stuff! The food is good, the wait staff is over the top, and the place is always consistently clean and welcoming. Generally we tend to prefer to frequent restaurants that are unique and ... well, local - favoring the more quaint trendy type hangouts over those resembling national chains. Even so, we have gone to Applebees in Redmond several times over the years, and usually the fare is good, quick and economical - just not anything to write home about - but reliable. Well, having suffered from the economy, it seems that our usual hangouts are cutting back on all those things that might bring a person back; service, food and selection. This sad situation recently brought us back to Applebees - and the experience was quite refreshing. First I want to tell you about Zoie, our waitress. She rocks. When we arrived the first thing we noticed is how cold it was -- seriously - the air conditioner seemed to be on full blast and it was blowing right down on our booth. Not wanting to suffer through a meal we asked our waitress if there was anything she could do about it ... she told us she would tell the manager. We thought -- sure, that's what they all say .... but you know what? She did tell the manager and they shut the air off! Amazing! So then Zoie suggested we have an appetizer since they were 1/2 off for happy hour. She suggested the chips ... and OMG! were they good! Beer (local brew on tap) was ice cold, house wine was nice, too. Then we started looking for something for the main course and noticed that all of the menu items now have total calorie count listed in the descriptions. Let me tell you, when you start to realize how many calories a cheesy pasta dish has over something like a simple fish or chicken dish -- you're going to think about cutting back. Needless to say we both ordered main courses with calorie counts not exceeding 400 -- both dishes were very good - the Cajun tilapia and steak with shrimp. We opted to skip dessert -- the calorie counts are on that menu, too. But the pictures sure looked good! So, before you dismiss Applebees out of hand for being too commercialized and a national chain -- just pause a second and think again about their great service, nice menu selection -- and high level of professionalism. These days it just can't be beat.

I am a super easy going person and have worked in the service industry myself; this being said, I am sorry to have to pick on an establishment so harshly. My wife and I stopped in on my lunch break. We were sat promptly and the place was very clean and nice. Our waitress came over after we had sat for over ten minutes with not a hello or water to our table. When out drink order was taken we ordered lunch as well. 15 minutes later we still had no water, no drink order, and not even a glance towards us or a word toilet us know she was there. The establishment was not very busy and there were four wait staff working. We finally walked out of the restaurant without any water or service. We drove two blocks and went to the Red Dog. Good choice, good service, and excellent food. I will not be back to applebees again.

My family went to this location last weekend on a Family Vacation. I'm not a huge fan of Applebee's to begin with but when I go I'm usually with someone who likes it so I give in. After this experience I seriously doubt I will ever go to another Applebee's again. We had such terrible service. When we got our food, our drinks were empty.. at first we didn't mind because we noticed our waitress had a bit bigger party down the way from us. So we waited and waited until we finally asked another server walking by since ours never came back to check on us. The other server said she would tell our waitress and get us some right away, as she proceeded to go help a couple more tables before she got around to tell our waitress which I'm not even sure she really did. At this point we were able to get a manager who was going to tell our waitress as well. A while later our waitress came over make was making excuses about not having our beverages but she still didn't have then, she was stammering and picking up our empties. A while later she came back with all new refills. Of course the refills didn't have straws in them, which no biggie we just laughed it off and tried to finish up our meal anyways. I decided to ask a few servers going by if they had a few straws they could stare and of course they all said no. The manager was walking by so we asked him figuring every wait staff usually has straws, he said he would go get some and proceeded to go talk to the table behind us which was some friends of his. Just as he was coming back with some straws a few minutes later our waitress came over and actually "threw" some straws on our table and marched off. Anyways.. it was a bad experience and we won't be back!

I've never been a huge fan of Applebees. While driving around town, taking a break from the in-laws and the kids, we found ourselves a little hungry. Not knowing much about restaurants in the close vacinity of my in-laws, we opted for Applebees. We were only after an appetizer and a drink, so how could we go wrong. The only reason, there are 2 stars up above, is because our server was great! She was sweet, friendly and prompt. She checked on us mulitiple times and kept the drinks filled. We were very disappointed in our appetizer. We opted for their "Ultimate Trio" where you get to choose 3 appetizers from a list for $12.99. We chose Mozzarella sticks, Buffalo Wings, and Steak Quesadilla towers. We thought, that for $12.99 there would be plenty of food for the 2 of us. We were very wrong. There were 2 slivers of the quesadilla, 4 small mozzarella sticks, and maybe 6 buffalo wings. For $12.99 I would have expected at least 6 or 8 mozzarella sticks, and at least 4 slices of the quesadilla. The big problem though, was that the food was tasteless. Skip Applebees altogether and try Red Dog just up the hill. I've heard good things about them now and plan to try them next time I'm in the area.
