Food was scrumptious.....the service was "okay". I had to go search for a sauce tray for my wasabi and soy concoction. Also could not get the waiters attention....otherwise a good experience.

Excellent quality of sushi was served. My husband and I ordered beef rib teriyaki and spicy tofu soup. It was great taste and reasonable price. Staff was friendly. I enjoyed nice and quiet atmosphere. I like to go back and try bento menu and hot pot bibimbob next time.

This is my favorite Japanese place to eat in the Lloyd district. They've got conveyor sushi or you can order whatever else. I mainly go for the Bento which is a great value since so many items come with it. Most recently I got the chicken bento which first came with Miso soup, then the whole Bento which had chicken, rice, one shrimp tempura, fried cucumber, friend carrot, hashbrown?, tofu, a sesame seed ball, even some strawberry slices, but I'm even forgetting a few things still! Gosh, with the sheer variety this place gets a bump up to 4.5 stars which I'll round up to 5!

Try the eel rolls! Ya, I know, if you haven't had it before it doesn't sound appetizing, but it is AMAZING!

The Alaska Roll Sushi was very good and the $5 lunch special made for an inexpensive, pleasant bite to eat but not necessarily a full lunch (I guess I should have ordered the bento). It took an oddly long period of time to get to our table to take our order. When she did, it went so lightning fast, that I didn't have time to add anything like tea or soup. If you go, have your order ready all at once and don't expect to have suggestions offered. I understand that perhaps only one person was available to cover the entire room, but it was still an odd experience where restaurants could sell more, but leave the table too soon. The food quality is good and I would go again, but there are some easy fixes that could make the customer service experience better. It's lunch hour in a neighborhood dominated by offices. Not everyone has more than an hour to kill before going back to work. Lucky me, I got off work early and didn't have to worry, but I would have been in a serious time crunch otherwise.

Oh Umi Sushi - there isn't really a place that I can say that it is AMAZING. It is so utterly wonderful that I came here for a second time. I had this big California roll, this breaded shrimp roll, and spicy ramen. Geez - was that ever filling. The real crime was that it came up to $10. Yes - you heard me right - all that food came out to $10. Perhaps I came in the afternoon hour and that is the reason why it was so well priced. I would HIGHLY come again at EVERY time that I want Japanese food.

I have been here half a dozen times for the bento boxes. A real deal, under $8 for chicken, and under $10 for grilled salmon bento. Too much to eat for the money, and everything seems fresh and delicious to me. I don't eat raw fish, so I can't vouch for the "sushi." Wait staff is very pleasant, and service is fast!

I found this little place by where i work. The outside does not do it justice. Not many tables. I think 60 would pack the place. Small saki selection. Small but full bar. A nice little place for a date night.... other than the t.v. but with 1/2 dozen other restaurants less than 1 block away. I get it. So having just got off work, I ordered 3 salmon rolls TOGO which cost $11.95.... The salmon rolls were delicious and pretty. As this was a new place for me. I didn't mind the cost. although at my regular sushi place. I would have gotten 3 times as much for the same price. Even though it was a bit spendy. I will come back again.

My girlfriend Heather and I went because of a coupon mailed to us in one of those val-pak things. We were surprised to be the only customers there, but it was 9pm on a Monday. The menu was your standard sushi items, with a handful of unique, or at least unusual rolls. One normally does not comment on the Miso soup unless there are extra ingredients or something. The Miso here was rich and more flavorful than I'm used to, seriously above par. Everything was good, if not great, with a few items that prompted us to stop and make happy faces. Prices were reasonable to impressive.

I don't know if I could love this place more. The food is always wonderful, flavorful, and fresh. And the staff are always polite and on the ball. I am never left feeling neglected by wait staff. I have taken everyone I know that likes sushi here and they have all been satisfied with the quality and price (and left overly full). This is my favorite sushi place in Portland. I wish they had a restaurant on the Westside of Portland, and/or that they were open for lunch on the weekends so that I could enjoy them on my free time more. But I'll just have to settle for many more work lunches with friends and coworkers :) THANK YOU UMI!

Great, quick, reasonably priced and I have yet to ever have to wait for a table. I'm not sure why this place isn't busier.

Umi is a tasty sushi/korean food joint. While the korean soups are tasty and the sushi fresh stay away from the teriyaki as it tends to be a bit dry. I have the unagi every time and also various rolls. If you are in the area pop in and try unagi, snapper and tuna nigiri. I have had the Bento box but it is not their best dish. I visit Umi at least once per week.

This place is straight up gross. I couldn't even finish my lunch. There are waaay better restaurants to check out in this area. This is not a place you want to go. The bulgogi was doused in too much sauce. The sauce was too sweet and didn't taste fresh. The small sides that it comes with including kimchi tasted like it all came out of a can or something. Not fresh at all! The miso was the best thing I had. Won't be back.

A great little restaurant with some amazing deals, especially the Bento Boxes. I had the Chicken Teriyaki Bento (see attached video for a demonstration of the size) and not only was it huge, but it was full of variety and tasty items. For less than $8 (dinner portion), this was one of the best deals for a sit-down dinner I've had since arriving in Portland. The place itself is small, but I like to think of it as "intimate". It is by no means a hole in a wall, nor is it a dive. This little place does have some charm and manages to pack in a full bar, a sushi bar with sushi platter conveyor belt, and a sit down area with flat screen TVs. The place is clean inside and has a comfy, warm feel. We didn't try the sushi, but the a la carte sushi was also priced very modestly, and it looked like the size of the portions were rather large. I would recommend this place if you are in the area. You'll eat large amounts and spend very little, all with smiling service. I will come again.

Not a bad spot for quick eat. Service is fast and food is fresh. I have only ordered the bento box here and it is delicious!

The total review said 3.5 stars... I suppose that's correct for the area. Poki salad was all avocado and cucumber... Tuna had been frozen and thawed. Pink lady (cucumber wrapped roll) had cucumber about 3/8-1:4" wide in some spots. The fish fell right out. If you're new to sushi and want something simple, this is your spot. I did eat all the cucumbers = healthy and can't go wrong with that. The staff was super friendly too.

I stumbled upon this place while on a work trip and was so glad that I did. The food and service were both excellent! I didn't try the sushi, however I sat where I could see it being made. It looked beautiful and very fresh.

I was on a business trip to Portland and this restaurant was conveniently located next to my hotel. The staff was very friendly and after the first visit the people there knew my name. The food was delicious as the fish very fresh. I've had the beef, and chicken bento boxes and a few of the rolls. Everything was reasonably priced for the amount and quality of their dishes. I would definitely recommend this place.

I was initially suspicious of a restaurant that labels itself both Japanese and Korean. But the food was excellently prepared. I stopped in for lunch and had the unagi (eel) don bento, containing eel, tempura, California roll, salad, and miso soup. The tempura was perfect. The eel was very flavorful. And from the time I walked into the restaurant, I could smell the sushi rice. The food was great! Now, the downsides: the flavor of the tempura sauce and eel sauce did not go well together. And the restaurant, while well furnished, is in a questionable neighborhood in a questionable building. When I was there, two homeless men came in, begging for food and ended up in a shouting match with the restaurant owner. That was uncomfortable. That said, if I'm in the area and want East Asian food, I will return.

Umi is Lloyd districts best kept sushi secret. I'm going to keep this review short and sweet. The sushi is oh so good. Simple, well executed and most importantly FRESH. Miso is tasty too. The service was diligent, kind and out of your way so you can enjoy your meal. I really adore this place. It has never let me down. In comparison to the other sushi places down Broadway Umi really stands out as a winner. It doesn't need to advertise is though, or do anything flashy to let it be known. Simply walk in, get seated and enjoy. I will see you soon Umi!

Since the new owners took over in October 2014, the food has been amazing! Great portion sizes and food, especially for the pricing. The owners are super nice and personable. They recently expanded their menu to include Korean food and it is delicious and again, a good value. I personally enjoy the sushi the most because they have great cuts and flavor. Highly recommend you giving this little place a shot!

As part of my recent foray into the low priced world of Broadway sushi, I want to report that I really enjoyed Umi Sushi. Inexpensive, good service, cute decor, easy parking, no wait. I had about 1,000 vegetarian rolls for $15, and I loved my attentive friendly waitress, who smiled a lot, and who kept me stocked with ice cold water on one of the hottest days of the year, until I was no longer hot and no longer thirsty.

Lunch in the Lloyd area is competitive. Umi is an everything to everyone alternative. Yes they have conveyor sushi, ramen and bento. I'm on a bibimbap jag now, so I decided to try Umi's. A great option is brown rice. Also unique is their take on the egg ingredient. It's scrambled egg, cooked like a crepe - thin and flat then julienned or run through a food processor to make a curly pile. The shredded carrots were lightly cooked. The dish is served in a flat bottomed lacquerware bowl, about the right portion size, not a gut bomb. My standard is Kim Jong Grillin' and I'm awaiting his new brick and mortar. The ramen lunch special with Korean hot spice uses those crinkly noodles, undistinguished. This is not Kim Jong, but it's a satisfying and somewhat healthy lunch option in the Lloyd district.

Apparently they have new owners. The place was filthy dirty, menu changed, no revolving sushi belt(during peek lunch hour), no more self serve pickled ginger or wasabi. My crab salad was not cold and fresh and my teriyaki chicken tasted like cat food. Hope they catch a glue soon. Umi Sushi was my favorite place for years.

I have to start out by saying I do not venture too far into the eating of the actual sushi. I have had the chicken teriyaki and tempura bentos though and they are great. They are pretty big too and I always need help finishing mine. The atmosphere is laid back and the servers are attentive and nice.

I ordered from Umi via Delivered Dish. Unfortunately, the sushi was mediocre, and the fish in one of our rolls tasted like it was going bad. Spicy sauce doesn't cover all faults!

Quite possibly the worst sushi I've had next to that junk you get at Safeway. Completely flavorless.

The sushi rolls are very tasty. However it is huge so don't order too many. it's why I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars. The miso soup is delicious.

I've lived and eaten quite a bit in Asia, to include Japan. The ramen and chicken teriyaki lunch specials are easily inline with expectations. Definitely a great value here. I wasn't a fan of the California roll that I sampled, but all else was good.

Yum! Perfectly salted edamame, warming bowls of miso, cold Sapporo on draft, and fresh sushi! The ambiance is lacking, but if you're looking for a quick place to grab dinner before a Blazer game, this is a good option.

After 20 miles biking around Portland we were very hungry and didn't want to go into downtown. Sushi very good -- Caterpillar roll and Sumo roll. Great deal on sake -- $1.75 small. And lovely service. Dinner less than 25! Check it out if on Lloyd center area.

I really liked the sushi here. Prices were very reasonable. I was in town for a week, so I thought I'd try a few Pacific NW Sushi joints... My only complaint: The sushi rolls were way too large. I have a BIG Mouth, and I could barely fit one of the roll pieces in. Sushi is supposed to be bite sized! Biting the rolls in half was not a possibility. They fall apart. So overall, good sushi. Good Prices. Rolls too big.

Walked by this place on my way to Safeway, I'm in Portland for a FDA Food Safety Conference this week, and headed in for dinner on Monday night even though Mondays are usually not fish delivery days and the product is most likely leftovers from the weekend. First thing that came to mind was that when ordering sashimi, usually the most expensive menu item at any sushi restaurant, you are not given a choice of fish and relegated to a mix of tuna, yellowtail, white fish and salmon for the Small portion at $10.95; the large portion has another variety of fish included. The pieces of tuna and white fish were relatively small and chunky squares as opposed to fillet cuts; only the yellowtail and salmon were fillet cut. The yellowtail was turning yellowish on one end ( a sure sign of unfresh fish) and had a poor taste. The white fish and tuna were a spongy texture with little to no taste. Only the salmon was good which isn't even a fish I ever order as sashimi. I was surprised the sashimi order did not come with especially since it was obviously older product and the quality was degradated. I also ordered a bowl of chicken udon noodle @ $8.50 which had very little chicken in it, and only mushroom and green onion. The waitress looked perplexed when I asked if it came with an egg... The broth was bland and had little to no taste except for sweetness. Green tea was an extra charge of $1.25 and the water was only warm. This place was a huge disappointment!

I don't understand the bad reviews for Umi, because the last few times I've eaten there the sushi has been delicious. I don't go to Umi for anything but sushi - and it's the best that I've found at such a reasonable price in Portland. The fish is fresh and unbruised and the nigiri is made with skill. The rolls can be decadent and creamy (not really a fan of that trend), but if you choose wisely, you can get a creative and delicious roll on the cheap. Granted, this isn't some hoity Pear District pay through the nose to sit next to some unbearable hipster sushi - it's simply fresh delicious sushi at a great price. Four stars for that.

I was super excited to try Umi Sushi which opened just down the street from my apartment. Unfortunately the cost was the only thing to write home about. The sushi itself was like any other run of the mill sushi go round, and the service was lack luster. The place seemed run down even though it had just opened. The prices were cheap and I got what I paid for.

All I can say is thank goodness I didn't have to pay for this sub-airport Japanese food. The teriyaki beef was hands down the worst I have ever had. Tough, cold, dried out, stringy pieces of meat that had no grill marks, and had some syrupy canned teriyaki sauce drizzled on it. The miso had a thick layer of oil sitting on in and was salty and over-reduced. The tempura was pale, thickly breaded, soft and greasy. the California roll was completely mushy (!) and the strange "Rose" dish had spicy tuna with little flavor and an odd pasty texture. Seriously, avoid. There are far too many Japanese restaurants in this town...

I travel to Portland for work two weeks a month and my project team eats here at least 3 times per week. You cannot beat the price and the sushi is fresh. It's not the greatest in town, but the value increases my rating to 5 stars. We usually eat at the bar and pull from the conveyor. The staff is friendly and will make anything you request that isn't on the bar menu. My average cost is $10, $15 with a brew.

Very good blue collar sushi with no foo-foo metro cool adds. Rolls were big, tasty, and costs were low. Decor is well worn and looks like any other local family place to eat.
(4)
Mike M.
The sushi was fresh and service was fast. But the execution was very poor. A loosely formed roll far too large to eat in one piece crumbled in the soy sauce. The sashimi was randomly cut and the tuna was tasteless although the other fish was quite tasty. The presentation consisted of just food on a plate. It should have been obvious with only two tables on a Friday night.

Over the years this sushi place remains one of my favorites in town. They have fresh sushi and offer different varieties you won't find everywhere else. Prices are reasonable, and service is attentive. I suggest the love roll. No rice, they wrap it in cucumber instead of seaweed. A carb watchers dream of a roll.

I'll make it quick to save the next person who thinks going here is a good idea. the miso tasted like soap the fish must've been frozen in japan, because I didn't really taste anything until my last bite of nigiri The $9.95 spider roll had old, desiccated, *what I think was crab* in it. It was overpriced, and the quality of the fish was bad, as was the attention to detail. I wish my girlfriend and I had spent the $56 (including beer and sake) anywhere else. The server was nice. The major problem with this place is they completely lack authenticity with their food.

I keep coming back for the lunch special. Food: 3 (average sushi) Atmosphere: 4 (very nice interior, nice bar) Service: 3 (super friendly staff, remembers you at the door, a touch slow at times) Value: 4 (for lunch) Sustainability: 1 (sushi is hardly sustainable, unless you go to Bamboo) I'm here for lunch probably once every other week. The 5$ lunch specials are hard to pass up and are a great value. Is it creative? Not really. Is it stupendous? No. Is it really pretty damned good for 5$? Yes. My workmate got the 5$ lunch special with spicy ramen noodles and it was quite tasty. Were the noodles homemade? No. Was the broth infused with a bit of bonito? I think so. I'm a fan of thier termpura rolls. The teriyaki chicken never fails me. Whenever I'm feeling cheap or snackish for lunch, this is my go-to place. I've never had a bad experience, and I do miss their back deck. But yeah, this is a good place that's solid (and it is better than Sushiland although it does lack some variety).

We tried Umi for the first time last night. We had calamari, chicken curry, rice, gyoza, and a sumo roll. Everything was delicious, especially the calamari. Very reasonable prices. Service was just OK. There was only one girl serving and it got crowded so we had to wait a really long time just to give her our card to pay. But other than that we were pretty happy. Will go again.

Why, oh, why didn't I listen to you, O.T.!? You're right, I didn't need to compare this ramen with biwa's! Dear Reader, Please do not be like me and order the Spicy Ramen when you come here. It looks like a good deal at $5.50, but it is not. Why, you ask? Well, because it is obviously some type of instant noodles. Luckily it wasn't served in brick form - the noodles were broken up and there were toppings, but it was still obviously from a package. Here's the Wikipedia page for instant noodles so you can have a little visual: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In… I'm pretty sure it wasn't the 10-for-a-dollar type like Top Ramen or Maruchan, but I'm also pretty sure it cost less than $2 for the noodles and soup base. To be fair (dollar value-wise, not taste value-wise), they did dress it up with a stick of krab cut diagonally in half, four to five broccoli florets and about the same number of halved button mushrooms. The extra toppings did nothing to make it better - I would have preferred egg or ham (actually SPAM) or bean sprouts or takenoko or green onions on top. They may have dressed up the soup a little, too, but I can't be sure... it was mostly salty with a little bit of heat to it. To be honest, if I hadn't been dining with friends, I probably would have been a lot more upset and this would have been a one-star review with much more ranting. I know some people like instant noodles being served at restaurants, but if a business is going to do that, they should be up front about it and say so on the menu. Seriously, serving instant noodles at a sushi place is like serving SpaghettiO's at a pizza place or bistro. If you are craving instant noodles, please head to Anzen or Uwajimaya or, heck, even Safeway or Albertson's, buy a package or two for under 50 cents, get your favorite toppings and make your own! Thank you for listening. Sincerely, Akemi Now that the horror is taken care of, here's the rest of my review: So, this place used to be Sushi Mania. They now have a big banner proclaiming new management and better service and quality. I never ate here when it was Sushi Mania, so I can't offer up a comparison, but if this is an improvement then, wow. They are offering 30% off select rolls as an opening special of some sort. I liked the interior. The lighting and decor was pleasing. The tea ($1.25) was served in Japanese tea mugs (you know, the heavy ones that many sushi places here use) but it was just hot water with an American-style tea bag. I found that pretty odd. I didn't order tea, so I can't comment on taste, but it just seemed weird to serve tea bags in a sushi restaurant. They have both Coke and Pepsi for soft drinks, so that was pretty impressive. The Sam thought that meant they would be served in cans, but my Coke came in a pint glass and was refillable for $1.75. Their mix was okay, a little light on the syrup and heavy on the carbonation, but it was arguably the best part of my meal (see above letter). We tried an appetizer that was like jalapeno poppers but it had spicy tuna in it along with the cream cheese. It seemed like it was hand-stuffed before it was battered and fried. The jalapeno was very fresh and crisp and not very spicy. The taste was interesting. I probably wouldn't order it again, but it was pretty good. The sushi rolls looked good and the salmon roll I tasted was okay - not great, but not bad. The bigger, fancy rolls were all around the $8-$12 range. The nigiri started at $2.50 or $3 for inari and tamago with most of the fish in the $4-$6 range. I also sampled some sweet potato tempura. It was the orange sweet potato that is preferred in the U.S., not the white one which is my favorite. The batter was okay, but there wasn't a lot of sauce served with the tempura so I didn't bother with it since I was stealing it from the Sam's bento. Tempura sauce really needs to be served in a separate bowl for dipping, but here the sauce was in the little compartment where tsukemono (pickled veggies) or wasbi or something like that is usually placed. The service was good. Our server was timid and soft-spoken, but attentive. She offered hot water refills and she served and cleared dishes in a polite and timely manner. She ran three credit cards for our party after we did the math and noted the split on our check (thanks for making it all good, O.T.!). So, I almost gave Umi Sushi one star for the instant noodles alone, but the sushi I tried was okay and I liked the inventive appetizer. The atmosphere and service were good. There were other appetizers and rolls that sounded fairly interesting. I might back if I'm in the area and craving rice or sushi, but I wouldn't actively recommend this place.

Here's what happened. I went to a movie with few friends of mine, we were hungry after the movie. We were at Lloyd Center area and couldn't decide what to eat. Outside temperature was pretty warm, so pasta or Chinese food didn't sound good. I came up with a suggestion to tried out Sushi Mania on NE Broadway. On Yelp, Sushi Mania had 3 stars. We drove there and Sushi Mania is gone, replaced by Umi Sushi. The sign said "New Management, better sushi, better portion." When we saw the sign "30% off selected sushi rolls", we should ran away the other way. Instead, we got in and sat on the nice comfy seats with breezy AC in the dining room. I settled with Chicken Curry and a side dish of salmon rolls. My dearest Yeep friend, Akemi, ordered the Spicy Ramen. It was fail dishes for both of us. My chicken curry was good when it was warm. As it's getting colder, the taste was pretty much yucky. The curry taste was similar than instant curry taste from the box at Uwajimaya. Akemi's spicy ramen looked like instant noodle (pretty close to Top Ramen look alike) and they charged $5.50 for that. The salmon rolls were good. That's the only dish that I could ate here. I think, new management is not necessarily always a good thing. New management, but crappy food is really a bad thing. Sorry, Umi there will be no more rendezvous.

A traditional Japanese sushi bar this place is not. Under new management, they tout larger portions and deliver on that promise. Like a larger-than-life anime hero - the nigri here are the size of a young lady's hand and the rolls are larger than John Holmes. Trying to pop a gigantic piece of nigri in one shot was a serious challenge and I decided to go impromptu sashmi style instead. I washed this down with their green tea that is curiously prepared with a tea bag. The fish is of average quality for a sushi restaurant. The service and atmosphere is fine. However, I left the place feeling like I had consumed enough rice to satiate a small stallion.

It was really, really, REALLY hard but I drove past Yuki to try Umi for a change of pace. You know that saying, "go with your gut?" Yeah, well, go with your gut. I have a standard dish for most types of cuisine that determines how I rate the place. For sushi, it's spicy tuna rolls. Sometimes tempura spicy tuna rolls. At Umi I opted for the latter and edamame. I will say that I was pleased that my dish was one of the "30% off all day" specials. I will also say that the giant "30% off sushi all day!" sign was misleading - I expected all the dishes to be 30% off. But my dish was, so whatevs. The edamame was decent although not as nice looking as I'm used to seeing. (You know, at Yuki.) The tuna roll was spicy enough but it could've been fried a bit longer - the tempura got a little soggy as it sat. I didn't notice that the portions were any larger than I'm used to seeing. (You know, at Yuki.) I did miss the abundance of yummy sauce I'm used to seeing... you know where. At Umi I just got a thin squiggle along the side of my plate. The service was fine. I wish they'd take a hint and laminate their menus instead of using a full sheet of paper per order. I recommend a table instead of the bar. Again, I opted for the latter and it was a bit steamy and the sushi smell was a little strong.

My second favorite sushi place in Portland. I only come here to get sushi and nothing else. They have a full bar, cheap Saki and good plum wine. If you stick with all of the sushi that are on sale then this place is quite cheap. Their sushi isn't as authentic as some places but I still find them very delicious. My favorites are all of the baked sushi, the crispy sushi and the Philadelphia cream cheese sushi (I told you it wasn't authentic).

I am not sure why Umi has gotten such bad reviews because I've had several good experiences there. On my most recent visit, I ordered an eel and avocado roll that was large, fresh and delicious. While the price was a bit more than what one might pay elsewhere (6.75), the portion was larger than most. My husband ordered a bento box with salmon, tempura, and California rolls. The bento came with miso, salad, potstickers, a large piece of salmon, 4-5 pieces of tempura, a side of rice, and a 4 piece California roll. At around $14, the bento was well worth it. In my opinion, the bento is much better deal and is of much higher quality than the other sushi restaurants in the neighborhood (Yuki and the place down on the corner of 15th and Weidler). I've gone to Umi for lunch as well as dinner, and have been just as happy with the selections of rolls. I've not yet had any of the noodle dishes that others have mentioned, but for sushi and bento, Umi is great!

Sushi Mania, no more! It is now UMI SUSHI, and it's even better. YUM. Favorites like the no-rice Pink Lady roll still grace the menu, as does the awesome miso! Ask what's fresh, and order it. Huge nigiri, too. Plus, they currently have some items at 30% off, as a opening special.

gosh i liked sushi mania! sushi umi? not so much. the prices are higher, the wait is longer, the sushi isnt very good, and the rolls are the size of my palm and fall apart once you dip them in soy sauce! then your soy sauce becomes 70% sushi roll and 30% soy sauce! is that right? not one bit!!! never comin back... oh ya and sushi mania was a 4 star resturant on yelp! now just check out Umi's rating! my mom is fro the south and she could make better. like Olivia sai, "new manegment isnt always a good thing."

(5)Dan H.

(5)Jim M.

(5)Megan Z.
Great, quick, reasonably priced and I have yet to ever have to wait for a table. I'm not sure why this place isn't busier.
(4)Chris L.
(4)Christy H.
(2)Vasilie C.
(4)Thuy N.
Not a bad spot for quick eat. Service is fast and food is fresh. I have only ordered the bento box here and it is delicious!
(4)Christina G.
(2)Amber B.
I stumbled upon this place while on a work trip and was so glad that I did. The food and service were both excellent! I didn't try the sushi, however I sat where I could see it being made. It looked beautiful and very fresh.
(4)Chester V.
(4)Matt H.

(5)Bree H.
(5)Dana G.
(4)Robert H.
(3)James B.
(1)Theresa C.
I have to start out by saying I do not venture too far into the eating of the actual sushi. I have had the chicken teriyaki and tempura bentos though and they are great. They are pretty big too and I always need help finishing mine. The atmosphere is laid back and the servers are attentive and nice.
(4)Elisabeth F.
I ordered from Umi via Delivered Dish. Unfortunately, the sushi was mediocre, and the fish in one of our rolls tasted like it was going bad. Spicy sauce doesn't cover all faults!
(2)Aimee L.
Quite possibly the worst sushi I've had next to that junk you get at Safeway. Completely flavorless.
(1)Sabrina R.
The sushi rolls are very tasty. However it is huge so don't order too many. it's why I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars. The miso soup is delicious.
(4)Michael C.
I've lived and eaten quite a bit in Asia, to include Japan. The ramen and chicken teriyaki lunch specials are easily inline with expectations. Definitely a great value here. I wasn't a fan of the California roll that I sampled, but all else was good.
(4)Sarah W.
Yum! Perfectly salted edamame, warming bowls of miso, cold Sapporo on draft, and fresh sushi! The ambiance is lacking, but if you're looking for a quick place to grab dinner before a Blazer game, this is a good option.
(3)Courtney S.
After 20 miles biking around Portland we were very hungry and didn't want to go into downtown. Sushi very good -- Caterpillar roll and Sumo roll. Great deal on sake -- $1.75 small. And lovely service. Dinner less than 25! Check it out if on Lloyd center area.
(4)Michael D.

(4)Kathryn L.
(2)Tore L.
Booooooo bad fish - bad bad fish -- if you like going to the ER to hang out with the residents feel free to eat here -- !
(1)A B.
(1)Chip P.
(5)Rob T.
Very good blue collar sushi with no foo-foo metro cool adds. Rolls were big, tasty, and costs were low. Decor is well worn and looks like any other local family place to eat.
(4)Mike M.
(2)A.M. K.
(4)Nick B.
(2)Cedric J.
(3)Kate P.

(2)Greg W.

(2)Patrick D.
(5)Jennifer M.
They have the best Las Vegas roll ever!
(5)Beth L.
(4)Tiffany R.
(4)rudy L.
gosh i liked sushi mania! sushi umi? not so much. the prices are higher, the wait is longer, the sushi isnt very good, and the rolls are the size of my palm and fall apart once you dip them in soy sauce! then your soy sauce becomes 70% sushi roll and 30% soy sauce! is that right? not one bit!!! never comin back... oh ya and sushi mania was a 4 star resturant on yelp! now just check out Umi's rating! my mom is fro the south and she could make better. like Olivia sai, "new manegment isnt always a good thing."
