Do not let the interior or ambiance deter or fool you. This is phenomenal traditional Thai food. An appetizer, three entrees (huge portions - none of us could finish our plates), two glasses of wine and two beers totaled $46.50. Very reasonable for truly extraordinary food. I will be back!

Something light, yet satisfying. Thai food is normally what I'm thinking when I think that. Never been here before and was quite surprised to see the hostess perform as the only waitress within the establishment. It was dinner time, you'd think you'd get another helping hand with the decent crowd already seated when I got there. I hate to admit it, but whenever I get Thai food, I always go for either Pineapple Fried Rice or Pad Thai. Sometimes I like what I like, but I decided to go for a change this time around. I ordered the Gang Ka-ree (#53) which was just a yellow curry with vegetables and a bowl of rice. With any dish you order, you have your choice of selecting your level of spicy (1-5 stars). I'm still building up that spicy tolerance so I went for the mild (1 star)... When I dug in, it was surprisingly spicy! My poor boyfriend chose 2 stars for his Pineapple Fried Rice and even he thought it was too hot too handle. I wish that the waitress had warned us that 1 star probably equated to 3 stars at any other Thai restaurant. The curry was delicious, but the potatoes in it could've been cooked a bit longer. They were still pretty raw in my opinion. I wouldn't say no to eating here again, but I feel like I could have a better experience elsewhere. I'm very indifferent to this place. Meh is probably the right word.

Tuk Tuk is the closest Thai restaurant to my house. There are many, but this place happens to be walking distance. I really wanted it to be good. We walk in, and the appearance is a huge turnoff. Grossly stained carpeting, stained ceilings (like SPLASHED of stuff on the ceiling... how does that happen?), tons of dust and grime, and it looks as if it hasn't been remodeled in 20+ years. Regardless, I'm hopeful for the food. I even say to wifey "You know, I don't think I've ever had 'bad' Thai." She agrees. Even at its worst, it's pretty good. You know we jinxed ourselves. We order, some tasty Thai iced teas arrive, and we're hopeful. Then our waitress returns saying that both of our dishes come with a side of white rice, but they only have one serving of white rice so we can choose brown or sticky. What? Make more rice. How does a Thai restaurant even run out of rice? The food arrives. We ordered a chicken w/ basil and a green curry. It looks pretty good, but the chicken is overcooked and the rice is very dry. I wouldn't say it is bad necessarily, but with a half dozen Thai options within a 5 minute drive of our house, we won't be going back.

I tried this place at a friend's suggestion. I'm no expert, but I've been to plenty of Thai restaurants to know that this ain't all that. I think it may be sufficient as being the only Thai restaurant in Beaumont Village, but, were I a Villager, I would hop in my wagon and head to the next village to, um, er...ah, forget this village analogy! My point: There are definitely better Thai joints around P-Town. For starters, Tuk Tuk's salad roll is like the smaller third cousin to those served at places like Thanh Thao (on Hawthorne) or Pho Dalat (on SE 39th). And the peanut sauce with which to douse this flavorless creation is so oily it was more like barrel grease. Don't get me wrong; I love me some barrel grease every now and then, but not for dipping salad rolls. Then, I thought their Phad See Ew would save the day. It didn't. It, too, was flavorless, the sauce akin to light gravy that was desperate to find mash potatoes to drizzle itself over. I tried to like this place. In the end, there are definitely better Thai places in P-Town that could benefit from my hard-earned dollars.

Tuk Tuk is a good go-to place for Thai food. Most memorable is the portion sizes, especially for the price - very reasonable here. A good barometer is the cost of a Thai Tea - $2.00 here is definitely cheap. Tom Kha was a very good rendition of the real thing, beef larb nice and spicy, tastes like the real thing. Not a big calamari fan, but their fried calamari appetizer is a success even in my book. The service is also very Thai - unassuming but kind and attentive. Not a life-altering experience, but you cannot go wrong here.

The food here is usually pretty good and the portions are generous. The service often leaves a lot to be desired. The big downside of this Tuk Tuk are the restrooms; the restrooms are dirty and disgusting. Getting grossed out before a meal and trying to wash up here is, well, not appetizing. Then you wonder: "Is this where the cooks wash?" Ugh! Tuk-Tuk has good food and I wish they would improve their marginal service. Bottomline: I have a hard time considering another meal here until they cleanup the restrooms.

Alameda - Beaumont neighborhood thai joint. I have been to the Tuk-Tuk up on Lombard a few times, but these days the Fremont location is closer. it is painfully run of the mill and standard in every way you can imagine, from the food to the decor to the service to the clientele. I got a lunch special and iced tea for 10 bucks, the portion was decently large and had all the necessary components. I won't go out of my way for Tuk-Tuk, but if I am up on Fremont and feel like Thai I would be just fine eating here again.

Well, more like 3 1/2 stars. I want to love this place, but I find it difficult to with the slowness of the kitchen and wait staff. It took close to 20 minutes to get any food on the table after we ordered. The pork green curry was delicious overall but I thought some of the eggplant were roughly prepared. The curry had some complex flavors but other than that nothing special. Portions were generous and price good. I would go back if it wasn't so busy next time.

We went to Tuk Tuk on a very wintry Saturday for a late lunch. Food We ordered a number of appetizers and one main course. It was all delicious. Salad Roll with Chicken If you have never had one before, a Thai salad roll is like a Chinese spring roll except that the wrapper is made of rice flour. Instead of being deep fried and served hot, all the ingredients are wrapped together and served cold, with warm peanut satay sauce on the side. This was a nice change from the shrimp/pork and veggie options we usually encounter Tom Yom Gai Soup We ordered a large so we were treated to the big doughnut shaped bowl with the heating element and chimney to keep this soup warm and tasty while at our our table. Lemongrass, kaffir lime leave, chicken, tomato, interesting mushrooms in a tasty chicken broth. This was great on such a cold day. Chicken Salad I only got a bite of this but the cold chopped chicken tasted as if it has been marinated in the tart dressing. Tuk Tuk Barbecue Chicken When you say barbecue, it means different things in different parts of the world. Here, I was presented with a half chicken cut up and dry roasted in a number of aromatic spices and herbs, garnished with pineapple, cucumber, tomato and red & white cabbage. The sauce, served on the side was rather sweet and I preferred not to use it. I was amazed at how tender the chicken was, even the white meat. Environment The restaurant is on the corner so there are glass windows on two sides. It's very open and bright during the day, even in a blizzard. Dress is casual / come as you are. Bar There is a small bar, but we did not order any drinks. Just water and hot tea. Service Our waitress was very friendly. Our orders arrived quickly. Even after a number of other people showed up, she was able to keep on top of things. Overall Recommendation If you like Thai food and find yourself in Northeast, in the Beaumont Wilshire neighborhood and you would like some tasty food, then stop on by.

I have been here a couple times, but only for lunch. The prices are on the high end, and lunch is a buck cheaper. The curry is really good. Spicy means spicy, and the veggies and such are all cooked to perfection. The pad thai has really thin noodles, so I didn't like that, but the flavor and everything was good. The Thai iced tea tasted perfect. I'm pretty sure our waiter was stoned or whatever, but he was quick for being so ripped. This isn't my favorite Thai place, but I'll keep coming back for that yellow curry.

This was one of our favorites for a brief time. Our first few dinner experiences were great. The food was inexpensive, plentiful, and tasty. The service was friendly and attentive. IT IS NO LONGER RECOMMENDED. Then things changed. One evening, I went in before my husband who was parking the car and was met with a sneer and disdainful comment from the waiter just after I came in. We just put this in the "he must be having a bad day" category. Things were okay after that. But each and every time we went back, this same person was still grumpy and rude. The last straw was when we came in and he was supposed to be our waiter. We were all but ignored and had to get the attention of the manager to be served. Then our egg rolls arrived FROZEN, complete with ice crystals inside. We sent them back (through the manager). We barely got our bill to leave because we were so ignored. In the words of my companion, "this place doesn't know anything about running a business." We will not go back.

Tuk Tuk is my go to place when I don't want to cook, don't want to think about cooking and am just uninspired. They use fresh ingredients and everything I have tried there, I like. Portions are always incredibly generous, especially when you get it to go. Love this place!

Now I am the first to admit that I don't love Thai food. But what makes this place worth yelping about for me is the service. I have a little one with tons of food allergies and it is always a struggle to find prepared food he can eat. The folks at Tuk Tuk are so great and so attentive they now know us by name and can probably recite my son's allergies as well as I can. We had them cater his birthday party and they were outstanding. Everyone raved about the food, even after all the recipes were revised to exclude soy, nuts, dairy, and a host of other "major" Thai ingredients. My husband, who does not have allergies, eats there once a week (at least) and loves the spicy dishes. I really enjoy the pumpkin curry and pan fried string beans. But really, it's the people there that make the difference. They are awesome.

Tuk Tuk is perfectly adequate Thai food. The curries are tasty, the satay is decent. Lemongrass chicken = yum. I had the noodle soup last time and it was bland, but I like super spicy Pho, so I can't really fault them. The Thai girl that works the counter is perfectly nice, if not a bit ovewhelmed, but the PDX slackerdude waiting tables can go get stuffed. First of all, the guy was wearing a shirt with a big old pot leaf on it. Now, I could care less if you smoke, but wearing such a shirt at your workplace is lame. It also told me the whole story of your "service" attitude. Slow and inattentive. Why don't you go work at a head shop and let me enjoy my food and get my check in a timely fashion.

This was the second visit to this place, and it was better on the first visit, but this second visit really sealed the deal - we're not likely to go back too soon. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken. They brought me fried rice, no pineapple. The waitress wasn't good with her English and clearly made a mistake. A waiter saw it and realized it wasn't what I ordered and took it back. They brought out the right meal, unfortunately with a hair on one of the cucumber slices. I noticed that someone at another table was waiting for her food to arrive after others were served at her table....they brought her the fried rice they gave to me by mistake after making it look new. The place just doesn't seem clean and the waitress doesn't have a clue about customer service.

Tuk Tuk has a lot to offer it's customers besides delicious food. Their cozy establishment is inviting and comfortable with brightly painted walls of orange and lime green, contrasted with warm and soft lighting that gives an almost romantic vibe. The paintings on their walls are unfortunate, but what can you do? The staff is courteous and attentive, although we have experienced the occasional lapse in excellent service. Our server this time was not very excited to serve us although the restaurant only had two other tables besides Jebby's and mine. If you're busy, we can understand a little delay, but come on. FREE REFILLS ALERT! Jebby and I love free refills if you haven't noticed, it's just the way it should be. Their prices are extremely reasonable considering how much food you get and the fact that you can order fresh seafood in your meal for under $10 a plate is something we get excited about. Tuk Tuk is a great place to take a date, you'll have stinky breath afterwards, but at least you'll both be in the same boat. Overall Tuk Tuk is a winner no matter how you look at it, unless you're looking at the crappy paintings. You can see our full review of our individual meals on our blog. I dare you to find better Pad Thai elsewhere. This is my favorite Thai place, it isn't close to my house so I don't go that often and when I try others I am always dissapointed. Guy who runs the place is a little corny, but gives me a good laugh.

Thai food ranks up there as my favorite thing on earth, and I was reticent to even try it in the PNW, as us Bay Area folks are pretty picky (and cocky) about our Thai. This place blew me away. Tom Kha Gai was great, pot stickers were fresh, sticky rice was a perfect consistency, yellow curry to die for, excellent peanut noodle, and an extremely reasonable final bill.

Was pretty disappointed that at 45 minutes prior to the listed closing time we were told they were no longer seating. We drove all the way down from North Vancouver and arrived at 8:45pm on a Thursday night when it says they are open until 9:30 on their website AND on their front door. The first words out of the guys mouth when we walked in were "Do you want to place an order to go?" and we said that we were there for dinner and he said "Well we stop seating around this time." I'm thinking maybe they should list their closing time at 9pm then if that's the case. Waste of time AND gas money!

Good solid Thai food, American style. Great service-- it is attentive without being intrusive and it is friendly without being overfamiliar. The prices are congruent with the food style, quality, and portions. A reliable and delicious choice overall. Good for small groups, families, friends, and casual dinner dates.

Portland has a lot of great Thai restaurants and Tuk Tuk is right up there at the top. The food is very consistent and the service is great! We are regulars from the neighborhood and have never been disappointed.

I get take out here a lot, but eat in sometimes. It's waaaay better than the over-rated Thai Noon. The thai beef salad has real green leaf lettuce, not just iceberg. That seems to be a novelty. Ther service is superb whether I am eating in or just picking it up. It's consistent.

Standard Portland Thai. Along with standard Portland good service, and atmosphere. I have only been here once and ended up here by accident. I am sure it will happen again sometime when I am driving down Sandy and have a sudden craving for salad rolls and pad thai. But this is Portland, I can drive down just about any street in the city and find decent American Thai!

Pan See Ew. It was the first Thai meal I ever had from a small place in New York City that was heavily recommended by the people I worked with at the time. So it's no surprise that all these years later I still enjoy the broad noodles, egg, light soy sauce, greens and meat. Simple dish, but really great. Whenever I try a new Thai place, wherever I am, I always try the Pan See Ew first. It was no exception here at Tuk Tuk. I had to pick up items at the hardware store across the street and I've passed Tuk Tuk enough times to know that I at least wanted to try them out. I ordered to go and got my meal along with fried wontons. The food was ok, nothing exciting but it was a decent meal. I usually throw some sriracha on my noodles but opted not to this time. I should have. Usually the light soy sauce gives a sweet flavor to the food but for the most part, the Pan See Ew, was a bit on the bland side. They can't all be home runs. I actually enjoyed the fried wontons more. Nice and crispy and I enjoyed the accompanying sauce. So a hit and a miss, and I'd go back again. My next meal will be some Tom Kha, my second favorite Thai item. Enjoy.

As a devout music geek always looking for a quick bite before a show, a place such as Tuk Tuk is a gem. Before checking out Sigur Ros at the Arlene Schnitzer, for instance, we had an hour to get from 11th and Alberta to downtown if we wanted to catch the opening band, Parachutes. In that time, we were able to hit Tuk Tuk on Fremont, eat some spicy curried noodles with chicken, some stir-fried egg plant and bamboo shoots and a garlicky beef dish, pay our tab, get lost on the way (don't ask) and still be at the show with five minutes to spare. The service is always insanely friendly, and they understand when you're in a rush. In other words, the food is fast while sacrificing none of the quality. The only warning I will give is that when they ask you how spicy you want it, you really have to sell it. I like my food "Thai spicy," and I suspect that such establishments sometimes humor me when taking my order, only to tone it down in the kitchen, imagining me to be overestimating my own threshhold for mouth fire. In any event, the prices are reasonable, and it's worth checking out their ever-rotating specials menu behind main counter.

A beautifully flavorful mussaman curry, with whole raisins and nuts, and savory rich spices. The Tom Kha was likewise excellent, as was my tasty Thai Iced Coffee. The restaurant is delightfully catering of vegetarians, as is of course most of this glorious state. Nom!

I live very close to this restaurant and after having eaten here countless times, I'm no longer drawn to return because their ingredients aren't always fresh. The food quality is usually a hit or miss. On the plus side, their noodle portions are generous! (I usually get Pad Kee Mao)

  • Vinnie B.

With so many great Thai restaurants available this one falls short. I had the eggplant chicken, the chicken tasted like it was old and freezer burned and smelled like fish. I just stop eating it and I'm not the kind of person who complains about food and asks for a refund. The steamed rice was clumpy and not fresh. the other dishes seemed a little on the saucy side, I'm not a fan of drowning food with heavy sauces, what are they hiding..freshness.(thinking out loud) The service was really good , but it didn't have the appearance of a clean well kept restaurant. I probably won't be back.

HUGE FAN. Been over 20 times. Rookies may want to go light on the spice as its 2 star often tastes more like a 3. NOW...Order these menu items and you cannot be disappointed. Note: Takeout is never a long wait and just as tasty. -Tom Kha soup. I worship it. Trust me, it's to die for. Tom yum soup is excellent as well. My buddies and I order this pretty much every time we go. Takeout of soup is equally as good. -Gang Dang(red curry w/ coconut milk) is ON POINT. This is my go-to curry. Im a spicy dude so I order 3 spice level. -Flaming Beef(seasoned with major garlic, pepper, and teriyaki) is my favorite stir fry. Yes it comes to your table flaming. -Pineapple Fried Rice w/ cashews is another delicious dish. -Pad Kee Mao(drunken noodles) is righteous. -Mussamun curry and Pa-Nang curry are lip smackin' good. -Other top notch stir fry dishes are; Pad Ped, Pad King Sod, Cashew Nut and Pad Prik Khing. -Crispy Curry Duck is real nice. -For dessert Sweet Sticky Rice w/ Mango is yumskis. --- One thing though, I wont rave about all of the seafood dishes. ...Go now. Bring friends.

I am giving this one star as I honestly cannot say how the food was. My boyfriend and I wanted to try it though. We were seated immediately. There were only 2 other occupied tables. We were sitting right next to the front and the servers had to walk past us every time they went to the kitchen. They were prompt with the other two tables, one of which was seated after us. They refused to make eye contact or come take our order. After 15 minutes we got up and left. Good luck to those of you out there who might actually get to eat here. Hope your experience with the servers is better than ours.

Pang Nang curry. Yum! Perfect quick lunch on the run. The rice was fragrant & swam in warm curry, loaded with chicken & spicy peppers. We had the fried Spring rolls & they were crisp to a perfection. Our waitress was attentive & quick. Would definitely go back and try more dishes when I'm not on the run.

Went last Friday evening with a party of 10. The food was definately sub par and not what we expect from Tuk Tuk. There was hardly any meat in any of our dishes. One of the party asked for no bell pepper and instead of just omitting the bell pepper, over 75% of the dish became green beans...the dish originally did not have green beans!? Additionally the service was very poor, she took forever to take our order, and never asked us if we wanted anything to drink. Completely disappointing dinner :(

My office ordered take-out the other day. Not feeling too well, I ordered some Tom Kah soup. At least I think that's what it was. That stuff was like liquid crack!! The broth was so amazing that I was craving it that night at home and couldn't wait to go back to work the next day to eat it again. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. I'm definitely looking forward to ordering again and trying another dish.

I've gone here a couple of times now and I've enjoyed the experience thus far. The server was attentive and took good care of us. Unfortunately, they ran out of papaya so we ordered the Larb salad instead. They must sell a lot of papaya. The Larb salad was good with lots of tofu. Could have been a little spicier though. I ordered the basil fried rice with chicken and it was quite delicious. I chose 4 out of a 5 scale of spiciness. It was a good spice level, just enough to make you sweat a little. My girlfriend ordered the Pad Thai and she said it was a little too greasy. I would say compared to other Thai restaurants, they are on the greasier heavier side. Sometimes you might want it a little greasier, just depends on what you're looking for. All the ingredients were fresh and the portions were large. We will be going back here in the future. No surprises (except the papaya) and a full meal for sure. Not an extremely fancy joint, but a nice place to eat.

Best salad rolls- rockin rolls...love the basil fried rice.. Pad kee mao... Pad see ew.. I'm sure I'm not spelling these correctly.. But yes many other great thai places out there.. But Tuk Tuk always has the same comforting things and flavors I love... Never had a bad experience.. And I've been enjoying it for years..

Oh my goodness, this place just dropped the star count for my regular Thai place. So wish I lived closer. We went over to a friends place for dinner at another place actually, but then a change of plans (thanks kids) and we ended up with take out from here. We had a variety of items. Noodles, great, Phad Thai, awesome, Pinapple fried rice, delicious, Curry really good and I'm not much into curry!! Went with the mild versions, so can't describe how much heat the place may have, but I really like to taste my food and not be distracted by the burning sensations. The only thing I would change is the garnish on the items. Don't need it, it gets in the way of the fabulous food. Run, don't walk to this great place.

Tuk Tuk has some of the best Tom Kah that I have tried in town. The service is great as well as accommodating to different diets. I have tired both locations and this one seems to have better food.

I just moved to the area so wanted to try all my regular things I order when i go our for Thai. The springs rolls were not good (mushy in the inside and not a whole lot of stuff in the inside) but they gave me 5 although the menu said you get 4. The red curry was awesome, at first I thought it wouldn't have enough "sauce" with it as I like to drown the giant bowl of rice with it but it was plenty. The Tom Kha was really good, full of awesome stuff and the small was a really big bowl, if you ordered the large that would be a meal in itself. Service was super nice and they stay open till 10 which in that neighborhood is sweet. Also, it doesn't look that pretty on the inside but was much nicer then I thought and very reasonable prices. They also did not seat me at some bullshit table because I was a "table for one" with a news paper under my arm..that made them a winner to me as well! Curry with chicken was under 10 bucks and a giant bowl of rice came with it, if you added something else would be great for sharing. Everything also reheated very well the next day!

Authentic & delicious! The green curry at #3 spicy was fantastic and only $7.50 for lunch. You won't be disappointed, the food is great! The interior could use an update and its not easy to see from the road.

In my opinion the best Thai restaurant in Portland. Portions for large. The service staff is friendly and absolutely hysterical. The wait time is nothing. They do a good job with take out and eat in. Prices are reasonable. Would come back without question. The service staff is extremely accommodating. We came here with a friend who is allergic to almost all the food, and they were able to make a selection that was to is liking. This is our relative's favorite Thai restaurant. They have lived in grown up in Portland OR hold our lives, and this is the only place to go for Thai food. Parking is slightly tight on the street, but she should not be a problem most days.

Their food is fantastic! Beware, they have spicy food so go easy on how much spice you tell them. The only downer is how slow it takes for them to make the food. Its a small price to pay for quality food. My Favorites - Calamari is by far the best in town. The batter is light, not greasy and full of flavor.

Not impressed with food or environment. Service was friendly and ok. The place is run down and we sat next to a window where there were nails sticking out of the frame. There was a cigarette butt wedged in the window sill. Then there was the food. We ordered very basic Thai dishes so you would think they could make the basics. Pad Thai noodles were slimy and thin and didn't taste good. The vegetable fried rice was ok flavor, but really greasy and dark. All in all the place was a disappointment and I wouldn't recommend it.

Love this place!!! I came here after hitting up Chaba Thai earlier in the week and being sorely disappointed after receiving only 3 pieces of small shrimp in my tempura. I new I could find better Thai food and sure enough Tuk Tuk definitely has them beat on taste and bang for your buck!

I am not the best at cooking rice on the stove and I will admit that but give me a rice cooker and I am pretty much a pro. Apparently not so for these guys cause my rice was like one big soggy ball. Also I can't be sure but I ordered the Pad Prik Khing and I think they used canned green beans. They had the taste of a canned vegetable anyway. Portion was large but tasted mediocre. Also while I waited I could look in the kitchen and the cook using a microwave. I don't think restaurants should even have a microwave. I took mine to go so I can't say much about the service or interior.

Took my sister here for her first excursion into Thai food. The food is good, wine selection is decent and the staff is friendly. There is room for improvement with the food though. I have still yet to experience great Thai here in Portland, which is surprising because there are like three Thai restaurants on every block here. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that Portlanders don't have very high standards when it comes to Thai food. Going back to Tuk Tuk, the food wasn't BAD... I just may be spoiled because I have been to Thai restaurants that are more authentic and the food is outstanding.

This is my new Thai restaurant, for the following reasons: 1) It's open EVERYDAY! ****I wanted Thai food on a Sunday and after calling several places I found Tuk Tuk and they were open! Woo Hoo! 2) We had the Yellow curry w/pumpkin. YUMMY! Amazing might be a better word 3) Tom Khaa soup: Terrific w/very fresh ingredients. 4) Pas Kee Mao: Yum. Full of flavor and fresh vegetables. 5) Customer service was nice and very attentive! 6) Portions are Large. I had it for lunch and there's more than plenty left for dinner! 6) There are a lot of cute shops around, so you can shop before or after your meal. You'll have money to shop, because the prices are more than reasonable. See you at Tuk Tuk!

This place is just okay for me- I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but might go again if I was in the neighborhood. Overall the food was decent. The salad rolls are loose, sloppy and SUPER rubbery. The service and interior was meh with a side of unremarkable. The best thing this place has going for it is the plastic TO GO containers. I love having lunch without getting covered in a sauce that has inevitably oozed from my to go container!

A friend of mine took us here for our last meal in Portland before our flight home :( I thought their food was delicious and rather spicy (we asked them to cook it medium spicy). We had drunken noodles, Tom Yum soup, and basil shrimp fried rice. All of which were abundant and flavorful. Just wished we had a bit more time to savor the flavors. I am looking forward to my next visit to Portland where we'll have more time to eat...

My coworker introduced me to this place couple months back, it's become my favorite place for lunch since. Come and enjoy the pad kee mao, the hot basil fried rice, and of course a glass of thai ice-tea. I'm not a vegetarian but I've found this place is at its best if you go with vegetables and tofu. They are just fresh and very tasty. Very busy between 12-1:30 everyday. Not sure why they don't hire more people. Only 1 gal who wears many different hats (server, cashier, taking phone orders, etc.) The food is just so good that you'll have no left over to take home. (smile)

Damn. I have to downgrade a star. We stopped in today to get take-out, and they had the same obnoxious radio station playing (although not Xmas music anymore, thank god), and the same sort of surly waitresses. We got an order of red curry and an order of "rock n' rolls". We got the curry 1 star, because while I like the hot stuff, the wife does NOT, and we're sharing...so I got my spicy stuff on the side. We get home, and I immediately tear into a "rock n' roll"...and...bleahhh. Not BAD, per se, but who the hell wants iceberg lettuce, rice, and a few slivers of chicken wrapped up in rice paper? Bland, boring, and...mostly iceberg lettuce. Not even close to being worth $5.50. On to the curry - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't one star, either! I usually get 3 stars, and this tasted more like a 2-3 star curry to me than a one star. As soon as I took a bite I turned to the wife and said "Crap. You're not going to be able to eat this". And sure enough, she wasn't, and was forced to depart to Hot Lips for a slice o' Pepperoni. Sorry, Tuk Tuk, but ya blew it. No third chance for you. I would give 3.5 stars if I could - but I will go with 4 instead of 3 because the food was super tasty and PLENTIFUL. I wasn't very hungry, so I just got a small shrimp Tom Kah soup, which was delicious, one of the better examples I've ever had. The wife got the usual, Pad Sie Iew (I never quite know how to spell it), and was greeted with a MOUNTAIN of food. Easily enough for two! Having said that, the service was on the weak side of mediocre, and they had an obnoxious radio blaring right behind us playing horrible Christmas music and commercials. Bleh. However, I'm sure we'll be back when we're in the mood for good Thai and only have $20 in the bank account!

Where did these positive reviews come from? I have tried a range of offerings from their menu, and the only superlative I can offer is that this may be the world's mediocrest thai restaurant. I haven't had a single dish that was decent. I've tried the curries, the pad thai, the fried rice, the salad rolls, the tom yum, and they all shared a mediocrity that had to be experienced to be believed, meh indeed.

We've eaten here numerous times and it's the best thai food we've ever had. Our favorites are the pad thai, pad kai, and golden fried rice. The only negatives would be that the atmosphere isn't great and I got a thai tea once that wasn't good, but the one I had tonight was amazing, so it probably depends on who makes it.

This happened a long time ago, but I'm still nursing a grudge: Tuk Tuk forgot our take-away order! It was a really busy night, and there were lots of other people waiting on orders, so we didn't get too suspicious, but after 30 minutes, we checked with the counter, and they had completely lost our order. It took another 30 minutes to get the food. When we got home after our long ordeal, we found that nothing was particularly great, and one of the items (an eggplant curry) was borderline horrible. So, no, I don't think we'll be going back to Tuk Tuk.

Safe good Thai food. The Pad Kee Mao was good and spicy. Might be too many onions for my taste. The Panang curry was smooth and spicy. Try the Rock and Roll over the standard salad rolls.

Been here a couple times, the food's alright. However tonight I ordered Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken. This is a dish which, according to their menu, consists of "Fried rice with egg, chunks of pineapples, cashew nuts and mixed vegetables." Get home, dig in, not really paying attention. Something seemed kind of off, not quite sure what it was. When I went in to put the rest in the fridge, I realized what the problem was. There was no egg, cashews, vegetables (beyond the cucumber slices it was garnished with ) and NO pineapple. Really? You wouldn't think to check that the namesake ingredient was at least included? The restaurant was empty when I went there, so it's not like it was forgotten in the dinnertime rush. From the recent reviews, it seems like the quality here has been going down. Shape up, or you'll wind up with no customers. It's going to be awhile until I bother coming back.

Went in for an afternoon lunch with 2 friends. The owner was running the front of the house and being slightly comedic while doing so which at least shows that he likes interaction and taking care of diners. I had the Garlic Pepper Pork Stir Fry which was just ok. No real flavor id have to say and on top of that I am a Spice Lover, so when asked on a scale of 1-5 I said 5; It wasn't spicy at all...so i asked for the hot sauce trio and he gladly brought it to the table which made me enjoy the rest of the meal. I want to go back when its busy and really see what they can produce but being a Seasoned Thai Diner, I personally would choose somewhere else if I had the time.

oh, the green curry! excellent with tofu. the king salmon curry is awesome: pan fried salmon under veggies and red curry. the salmon stays crunchy! fresh rolls with a divine peanut sauce is a fave app. the pumpkin curry was amazing! and the evil jungle noodles soooo creamy and yummy. the stir frys are all very good, haven't had one yet we didn't enjoy.

Enjoy.

Tuk Tuk is my go to place when I don't want to cook, don't want to think about cooking and am just uninspired. They use fresh ingredients and everything I have tried there, I like. Portions are always incredibly generous, especially when you get it to go. Love this place!

(smile)

  • Jesse S.

Enjoy.
