I got take out from this restaurant tonight. The food was surprisingly good. I have ate here around 5 times. It's always terrible except for tonight. I'm glad I gave it another try. Honestly I only went there because it's pretty close to my house. However it took them 30 minuets for the food. Also, I ordered cashew chicken and the did not put the cashews in it!!!!! That was very upsetting and I think they did it on purpose to save money. I picked the food up at 8:55 and they close at 9 so, I could not go back. Luckily the food was still good. I feel ripped off though because the price was almost $12, and no nuts!!!

Ordered take out from here on Friday night. I called it in and the guy on the phone was nice, said that it would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes. I drove over and got there a little too quickly and had only called him 10 mins ago. I decided to go in the restaurant at least and wait since I'd never been and just to take a look. I was greeted by one of the servers and she let me know that my order was ready. She walked over to a to go back and read off my order. 32 bucks for pad thai, bbq chicken, two orders of egg rolls and a side of peanut sauce. I asked for two small sides and she gave me a HUGE container of it- not sure why, I was grateful for it, but it's not something that lasts, so it was just a huge waste unfortunately. The egg rolls are two big rolls, when I asked on the phone how many egg rolls were in one order and if they were big he said they weren't- at least that's what I understood, could have been a misunderstanding. The pad thai was alright. Not something I would go back for. The bbq chicken was actually really large pieces of the chicken on the bone. The chicken was very dry. Not good. When I asked the man on the phone if it came with rice on the side he said yes, but when I got home, no rice to be found. The thing that worried my boyfriend and I was how quickly the food was ready. Literally 10 minutes after I had called, which is impossible for any of our food to have been cooked fresh. That was the real negative for us. For a near $40 meal- with tip, I did not find it worth it.

The worst drunken noodle ever. I am a big fan of a drunken noodle so I had ordered it whenever I went to any other thai resturants. I went to this resturant w my friends and ordered a drunken noodle with medium spicy but it was too salty so I added water to it but it was still too salty. I asked a server to make it lighter sauce but she frown in front of me and brought it back to the kitchen. When she brought it to back to me again, it got better but I couldnt feel any other taste but little bit soy taste. I won't be back there again

This is mom's favorite place! Mom ordered the Tom Kha Soup, Sour coconut milk soup seasoned with galanga root and served with mushrooms with chicken. I am so disappointed with my order. The owner needs to get $$$ off their mind, and consider better QUALITY and FAIR pricing. It is $5.25 for two (okay tasting) salad rolls. They don't even serve peanut sauce with their salad rolls- which is a standard of most every other Thai restaurant. CHEAP and highly OVERPRICED.

02/09 After see our friend Ron in assisted living off Barbur, Amanda (curry veg) and I (tofu squid veg) went here. We liked it and we had leftovers today! Yes $12 -15 was a little steep for rice veg with dinner. But we'd come again maybe at lunch instead.

This is for the Hillsboro location- so far one of thebetter Thai places I have been too- . The pad thai is delicious and the Gaeng Ga Ree with Yellow curry with potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, onions, and a choice of meat is my families favorite. Still on the look out for the real authentic Thai place

I had a vegetarian lunch, yellow curry plate with vegetable and steam rice. It was delicious! I chose medium spice, but I have to warn you, medium means pretty spicy, so chose mild if you can't take the heat. The servers were alright, the guy who took my order didn't know what was the most popular vegetarian dish for lunch, but he suggested the yellow curry so I went with it. Then, he never showed up again. Another waitress came half an hour later with the bill, and asked if we wanted anything else, of course we needed WATER after all that spiciness. But the food was good, so I will be back for more.

Good and consistent Thai food. I always get the Pud Kee Mao with a side of peanut sauce. Call ahead for take out as they do get busy (45 min ready time for takeout food at most). Plenty of seating available if waiting for food to go as well. If eating there, the servers are always pleasant and attentive.

Everything I've eaten here so far has been good. The pad thai and massaman curry aren't quite as good as I've had elsewhere, but they're still good. My absolute favorites there are their Pad Prik Khing (meat + green beans + spices) and Pad Ka Na Nam Mun Hoi (meat + broccoli + suuuuuuuper good peanut sauce). I'm also a huge fan of their Giew Tod (and the tangy sauce they come with), the chicken satay and the potstickers from the appetizers menu. Not only are the dishes cooked well, but all of the dipping sauces they pair them with are flavorful and delicious in their own right. Also, they give you enormous portions, so there's always plenty left over for a meal the next day! The decor walks kind of dizzy line between "country kitchen," "trendy coffee house" and "generic Thai restaurant in America," but the place is clean and quiet, so it doesn't really matter. The service is good when you are eating there. The drinks get there fast, the appetizers get there fast, and the food gets there fast. Not much more you could need. The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that take-out seems to confuse them; they always forget something and I end up having to wait in there extra time while they get it all straightened out. I'm not sure why it's so much more confusing than a sit-down order, but whatever. I don't work in kitchens, so what do I know?

Our third try for this location and thumbs down. Quality of food was poor. Phad thai tasted like stir fried noodles, did not have any phad thai flavor to it. The Penang curry was off, the service was better than our first two visits (much friendlier than before), but then we ended the night with them automatically adding 18 percent to our party of five (three of which were quite mellow kids). I thought this was incredibly poor business practice. The server said, the computer automatically does this for parties over four. WHAT- so lame. A last visit for us, unfortunately, there was a time when the Thai Orchid on Burnside was our "Go To" spot... I guess all good things must come to an end....

I have been to previous locations and decided to check out this Thai Orchid when I moved to town. The service was relatively fast and the staff were friendly. The food was very good, we ordered vegetarian salad rolls and Pra Ram (veggies/tofu/peanut sauce). It was very tasty and came to the table fast. My only qualm is that it feels a bit like a "chain" restaurant without a lot of personality. This space is quite large and thus, even when moderately full it feels almost empty. A great place to grab food to go!

So I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend last Sunday because it seemed like all the other nearby Thai restaurants were closed. I didn't go in with much expectations because I've never eaten at this specific Thai restaurant before. We only ordered 2 dishes because it was lunch time and we don't eat a lot earlier in the day. After we got seated, it took about 5 minutes to get our water, and another 5 to take our order. I guess that's not too bad, but with only 3 other tables there, the service was pretty much lacking. The Tom yum soup was pretty good actually, although it was spicier than I ask (I asked for not spicy at all, and it came pretty spicy.. Lol). So anyway, it took about 20 minutes after my soup came out, for my other dish to come out.. I ordered a Pad Prak Khing (beef).. That was way too long of a wait, and the rice did not come out until later as well. But once again, this dish was delicious.. The spices and flavoring was great, and the vegetable inside the dish was still crunchy. Yum. If the service was good, it would have gotten another star... Food was good.. Service was lacking.

This is great Thai food. The reviews should be better... I don't get it. Urban spoon seems to have a more accurate rating. I have been going here for 2+ years and it's always quality, great service and great food.

The food was not that good. If you eat there, you can have a basic overview on how Thai food is, but there are many other places with better food, better service, and cheaper prices. However, the price just went up ($9.95 for a chicken pad thai and $11.95 for beef or shrimp, and it is somehow similar to other dishes). And the spiciness is different every time I went there! I usually order the papaya salad, sometime Hot tastes like Mild, and sometimes Medium tastes like Extra Extra Hot... One more tip, if you order to go, make sure you have everything before leaving the place. Sometimes they don't put everything in that plastic bag for you! hmm... Overall, I suggest you eat at a different place :)

Ok, I've tried this place a few times now so I feel I am justified in reviewing it. I try not to rush to (bad) judgment of a restaurant because I've worked in them before, and know places can have off nights. I've realized that is not the case here. First off, the service is rancid. I have never, ever had good service here. I've been ignored, talked to like I was an annoyance (um, sorry for bothering you in your restaurant), and made to wait for extended periods of time. And I have never set foot in there when it was busy, so I am not just bitching because people did not rush to serve me the minute I set foot in the door. Today, for example, I walked in and there were two tables, both of whom had their food and were pretty much done. There were a couple people waiting for togo orders as well. I stood at the counter for a few minutes while some older guy stood behind the counter a few feet away and looked at me. I thought maybe he'd come take my order but no. He just stood there, looking at me. Finally a girl showed up but instead of saying anything at all to me she ran a credit card and left. She walked by and told me she'd be right back. Ok, good enough. Nope, she passed me at least 8 times (that I counted), doing all kinds of things (including chatting with the other server, who also made no attempt to take my order) but not once stopping to take my order. I know sometimes things get overwhelming in restaurants, but with two servers, the manager (or owner?) and some creepy old guy all standing around I would think one of them might actually take my order. Especially since there were more employees than diners in there. Last time I was there I didn't have to wait as long to give my order (though there was definitely a wait) but the man who took my order was just, well, curt would be the best word. Almost like it was a hassle to have to take an order. I'm pretty sure the time before that was about the same. I would have left today, and actually had to fight the urge to do just that, but I work two doors down and it was a choice of this place or a crappy mexican food restaurant, so I stuck it out. The food is nothing special. I'm giving them two stars because, while it's not great and I would never suggest it to anyone or choose it if I had another option, the food doesn't make me cringe and I wouldn't spit it out. It's average, bland thai food. I save my one-star reviews for places that are truly bad in every way. Food that I would not eat, and this is not that horrible, it's just not good. So unless you have no other option, or you like having to wait long periods of time for incredibly mediocre food while being treated like your presence is a bother to them, I'd suggest going somewhere else. Btw I've only ordered food to go, maybe they save their good service for those who dine in.

I would give -0- stars. Red flag 1 - Friday about 6pm and maybe 3 cars Red flag 2 - Thai iced tea - manufactured corn syrup Red flag 3 - neighboring table sent server back for brown rice when they came with white. Server appeared annoyed, not sure why. There was an even server to table ratio. We ordered the massuman curry with beef, spring rolls and a green bean dish with shrimp and the wait began. Tick tock...... They are not busy, appetizer has been eaten, our beverage has been depleted, hmmmm. Tick tock...... 35 minutes and our COLD food arrives. Green Bean dish with shrimp and a peanut chicken something ? Yes I could have sent it back but seriously did not have the time. Ate some and if it had not been cold it may have been ok but seriously. Waitress has completely disappeared. We finally got up and walked over to the server to pay and leave. Will never return, I am not going to slam all of these restaurants, I'm sure they vary by location. Citysearch rated them best thai food in portland at one time. Im sure the food is ok when served properly. Sadly This location needs a staff change.

The Food is okay. Very plain and boring , BUT Very clean and Quiet. The price was okay , not cheap and not expensive . Customer service was nice. I walked in to eat there one evening because it is close by. I went and sat in there and it was Quiet and clean, I felt like I was waiting at the dentist office but instead of dental work, I was waiting for food. Like I said, the food was average and the customer service was Nice, it was Clean and Quiet so I gave it 4 stars, it was lacking emotion.

I have always been a fan of Thai Orchid in Vancouver so I thought this was going to be identical. I was slightly disappointed. The food, Pad Thai that day, was ok, not great, just ok. The staff was adequate but didn't blow me away. What did detract me from having a pleasant experience is the carpet. It was an emerald green when it was new. Now it is black, yes black. But only where people walk, it's disgusting. I'll give them a 2 and probably not go back.

How is this place still in business? More importantly, how do you screw up pad thai so badly that it's almost inedible? I went here with my boyfriend a while back, and lord. I have never had such terrible Thai. It was bland and had almost no taste, it was dryer than a desert, and I'm not sure they even used the right seasoning. What little flavor was in the food tasted more like indian food than something out of Thailand. Gah!

Their thai tea is perfect, which is very important to me. They're very nice, food is quick, and its good! It has just recently gotten fresher and I'd definitely recommend check them out.

After a busy day of moving all my junk into my new apartment, it was time for some grub. A co-worker of mine told me that the Thai Orchard in Gresham was good, and I knew there was a location here, so a trip down Barbur was in order. Let me just say that this meal was way better than the one we had at the previous Thai place we'd gone to. The Mussaman curry was good and the pad see ew was decent. However, service was kind of lacking. I'd go back here if I wanted decent Thai food close by.

I used to really like this place and would have rated it a 3-4 stars. The food was consistent if not incredible. Last week I had my first (and last) really bad meal there. The fun started with it being over 100 degrees out. We didn't want to cook and we wanted a cold beer to start dinner. We were seated and ordered a couple beers and some appetizers. The beer didn't come and after a good 10 minutes we asked what was up. We were told there were no clean glasses. Fair enough, but tell us that when we are seated! Our appetizers came before the beer which was a bummer. The beers came shortly thereafter - they had been poured into freshly washed WARM glasses! So guess what? Warm beer. When dinner (finally) came the yellow-curry was runny and tasteless and the potatoes and carrots were completely raw - we left them on the plate. When our waiter asked how things were, I intimated that things weren't great, and that the vegetables were raw - they were still on the plate as evidence. He simply left the check and walked away. Since the check was only $26 we didn't make a big deal about it. They were very busy, and we didn't want to bum out our fellow diners. I went home and e-mailed Thai Orchid's feedback/customer service but they haven't responded.

With so many Thai restaurants in town there's no excuse for going to a poorly managed one. A short while back I ordered take out from them clearly stating that the pad thai should be VEGETARIAN. When I got home I was horrified to find bits of chicken in the noodles. I called and brought it back and the one they remade ALSO HAD CHICKEN. After 20 mins of calling around and trying to get someone at one of the locations to give me the name of the owner I finally reached him. He was sketchy to say the least. He ultimately appologized and said he'd send a gift certificate for a meal. I gave him my info and he never did. Honestly, even if he had I would have donated the certificate, as I can't see eating there ever again. It's important to note that this is not the first time they messed up a take out order for us. But this was the first they messed it up TWICE in a row. For good Thai food in SW portland got to Thai Derm out in Beaverton. Never had any issues there.

Decent Thai food, nothing amazing but pretty tasty and good service. It sometimes takes a little while to get your food, but you'll be happy when it gets there. Not very spicy from what I or my fiance had, (Red Curry Chicken and something with noodles), but that was just the medium spiciness. The Thai Iced Tea was super good and I enjoyed that lots. Good Restaurant for the price.

The Best Restaurant in 2001 sign needs to be taken down! I ordered pad thai and they gave me my order...with hair- long black hair to be precise. When I told the waiter, he just said ok and walked away. Then, the other waitress came up and I told her. They had an arguement in the kitchen that we could hear at the table, where the owners stated it must be mine (my hair is shorter and brown), They might have been good in the past (i.e. in 2001), but they are past their prime. There are better Thai places out there, and you would better off somewhere else.

Somehow the food at all of the Thai Orchid restaurants seems to have become somehow more bland over the years. Only a few things really stand out any more for me. Excellent Thai Ice Tea, and excellent Tom Yum soup. Otherwise, spend your well earned dollars on better Thai elsewhere.

Mmmmmm.....yum! Found this place by accident when trying to find our apartment. I love Thai food and this place reminds me of the restaurants back home. I usually order chicken satay, spicy chicken and cashew with a cool Thai iced tea to end the meal with on a sweet note. Its not far from home, the prices are fair and great staff. I wish they could have more on the lunch special menu but other than that, totally worth the trip every time.

Thai Orchid...all locations I have tried always have the best service, great atmosphere and best of all...perfectly cooked Thai food!

The food is okay for Thai food. The Price was pretty reasonable. We were the only ones in there on a Sunday night, and service was not very good

Really good food. Had pumpkin curry and pad thai. They gave me alot for each dish. Both were delicious. I will most likely be back.

Always great food, and they have a back room so I can hold a dinner meeting at this location.

Poor service, high price, average or below average food. Stay away.

Pretty solid overall. Never been disapointed. I'm a big fan of curry and theirs is always top shelf. The beef salad is money! This is near my house and i eat here 2x a month and always order extra for my lunch the next day.

(3)Brad J.
The food is average, however, the staff is so friendly and cute, it makes up for the average food. Nothing like a friendly smile to go with you meal.
(4)McLellan M.
3.5 if it was possible... not bad, quick and easy pickup, but nothing too special. Green curry was more gray than green, but still tasted good. Pad Thai pretty good.
(4)avant de mourir ..
A tad below average, maybe because it's a chain. Who knows.
