If I had to limit myself and this is very difficult but if I had to rank my top three genres of food cuisine it would have to go something like this... 1)Greek/Lebanese 2)Italian 3)Thai...maybe Thai or maybe Indian I do not know the third one is really hard to choose. Point is I love Thai and I have been seeing Thai food now for quit a while sometimes three maybe even four times a week. Thai Lahnna is just three blocks from my house so it does not take much effort to make my way over. I usually go with the red curry but the yellow curry is also really good. Their fried rice is actually one of the better items on the menu. I love it but cannot commit to fried rice as my entree. I am a saucy girl and I like my sauce thus my love for the red curry with fried tofu. Moving out of the curry category the Pad Pet Gang Kua and the Pad Ga Prow both with some spice are amazing. The food is not the very best thai food I have ever had but it is always good and the service is wonderful. The price could be a few dollars less but its not so steep and the hours should be a bit longer. They close strictly at 9:30 one time we came in right at 9 and they said we close at 9:30 a.k.a your to late!

Tasty Thai served from a Victorian house in the Sellwood area of Portland. I spend about 2 months of the year in this amazingly green and friendly city but have yet to explore the nearly remote hip village on this Southern rim of Portland. The food was great. Staff was nice but a little slow in attentiveness. I recommend the mango chicken.

I almost feel bad giving this review...and if it was one of these and not the other, I may not have written it. On the positive side they were nice and I've had good meals in the past (and kid friendly). They get one star because there was a penny in my dish AND nothing was very good. The penny was in a noodle dish with brown gravy...bad choice to start with and a penny did not help. We also ordered the fried tofu for our 2.5 year old...it was gross, if they have 'fast food' fried tofu, it was the equivalent of bad fast-food fried tofu. The larb was the worst I have had too, really sweet and we had to ask for cabbage to eat it with. When we let them know about the penny, they were very apologetic and brought us another dish (it was a curry, I can't remember what kind, but i do not remember it being very good either) and did take off a whopping 10% of our bill! Like I said, I do feel a little bad writing this because I used to like the place (especially when it was Thai Basil...not sure if it is the still same owner or not). It seems as if every Thai restaurant in Sellwood/Moreland/Woodstock disappoints :(

I went to Thai Lahnna and had the Pad Thai and it was pretty disappointing. It was mostly noodles. They used chicken that was ground so finely it was almost ridiculous -- the chopped peanuts were bigger. Do yourself a favor and find another Thai restaurant in the area.

My friend and I were walking around Sellwood and started to crave Pad Thai, and this was the closest Thai restaurant nearby. We walked in and it was literally someone's house turned into a restaurant! It was such cute little comfy place and the food was delicious. I tried Thai Tea for the first time and it was so good. I really wish that they would put that they had bubble tea on the menu instead of having a sign on the wall other wise I would have got some, but the tea was still satisfying. It is a little pricey but the food is so great. I will definitely be coming back!

Full disclosure, I'm a vegetarian. Everything tasted like fish sauce. Even the "steamed veggies". Yuck. No thank you. The nice thing about it was that there is lots of outdoor seating with a pretty fountain, flowering bushes, and you can watch all the Sellwoodites walking by. We liked that. But not enough to go back. I guess you'd have to really like fish sauce.

Ended up just walking in without checking Yelp. We had walked by this place so many times. I would give 3.5 stars for this place. The food was OK, nothing fantastic or anything. The service was fine as it was not that crowded. The price is bit on high side. Probably better to sit outside on a summer day. Should have gone to Jade across the street though. Better quality and much better price.

I didn't have a lot of experience with Thai food when I visited Thai Lahnna, but i was glad since that meant I opted for something that sounded relatively tame and ended up with something amazing. I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice that comes served in a pineapple show and omg it was good. I ordered it without the shrimp and it was still hugely filling. I thought the raisins might be odd with the other ingredients but they were my second favorite part, next to the pineapple. If I lived in Portland I would get this as often as I could. I got the fried banana for dessert and it was crispy on the outside and sort of caramelized on the inside and a great finish to the meal. The restaurant itself looked like it was built in someone's house, which was cool with me, and the place seemed very clean. Next time I visit Portland I will definitely be back.

It was just OK. The rice is "cute" but my eggplant dish didn't have enough and seemed overcooked to the point the I couldn't pick it up. Other's in my party like what they had.

Overpriced Nearly $10 for a side salad portion Not bad but doesn't hold up to Portland standards for Thai Yellow curry was bad Poor quality shrimp used I guess there are few Thai options in Sellwood Service was good

  • Darcy N.

Curry lacked all taste, it was just a bland bowl of slop. I ordered the panang, which didn't have that distinct panang taste nor was it spicy (ordered it a 5) - just overly sweet. Couldn't even taste the coconut milk. Portions were average size, but cost is about $2 more expensive per dish than most Thai places in town. Should have known, places around the strip were packed, while this place only had one table and a few take out orders. Will not be back, do not recommend.

I become the snobbiest, pickiest eater when the weather heats up, making for a real fun round of "What Should We Have for Dinner" last night. But that's another story for another day. We ended up at Thai Lahnna; that's what matters here. There is a great outdoor seating area facing 13th which allows you to eat while people watching (ironically it also allows you to watch the misinformed hordes waiting to order at Jade). We shared a glass of wine (because I am on restriction for unspecified reasons) and an order of fresh salad rolls--tofu, not shrimp inside, which surprised me a bit. No complaints, they were great and finished before the wine, which says more than I am comfortable conveying. I ordered Chicken Larb which is the perfect warm weather dinner. It's cool and minty and fresh and doesn't make me feel like I'd better unbutton my pants or suffer the consequences. Thai Lahnna served it up perfectly. I may have had a better Larb once, but it was in Thailand and shouldn't count accordingly. He had Shrimp Drunken Noodles. It looked greasy. And disproportionately noodle-y. I passed on a bite, something that doesn't often happen. He concurred that the flavors were spot on but the balance was off. The service was great when it could have easily been bad because we were the only outdoor diners and it probably would have been easy to forget we're out there. The turnaround time on apps and drinks was solid and the entrees arrived quickly as well. Top notch, y'all. Other relevants: the prices were reasonable, the restaurant was clean, the wine list was acceptable, and the location is great (especially if you're hitting up the antique shops in the hood).

This was a very good Thai place. I got the house special curry chicken, which had an orangey flavor. I got the drunken noodles, which were okay. My favorite was the sweet and sour chicken with assorted veggies- the pineapple and corn being my favorite. This was a very good restaurant and I would definitely come back. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. The noise level was low- you could talk to your tablemates without shouting.

First of all, the woman working here is just as sweet as can be. It's always nice to be greeted with a warm welcome and big friendly smile. Many moons ago this warm and cozy space was someone's home. I love old homes like this that are lovingly repurposed into wonderful restaurants. Our gracious hostess/server quickly arrived at our table with a carafe of water and took our order. The shrimp fresh rolls with peanut sauce arrived quickly and were cut into fours making them easy to share. My seafood Pad Thai was surprisingly good with plenty of seafood. This calamari caught me off guard as it was tender and usually I find that calamari is chewy and rubbery. The Pad Thai while good, was lacking spice and I don't recall being asked how spicy I would like it. So if you are not asked, be sure to inquire and make sure you get the spice level made to your liking. I noticed a nice little patio area out front where it looks like a lovely space for tables in the summer time. If I find myself in the Sellwood area and have a hankerin' for Thai food, I'll be back to this place in a flash. 2015 - Review # 14

I don't get these lower scores, because we've been back twice and both times has the best Thai food we've ever had here. Located inside a traditional Sellwood style home, we both times were seated and helped right away. I ordered the Tom Kha soup which honestly is the BEST I have ever had coast to coast!!!! Hands down!!!!! My hubby ordered Pad Thai and thoroughly enjoyed it and I also on one visit had the drunken noodles which were very good also. Regardless, I could come back daily for this places Tom Kha!!! Meow!!! Polite staff, clean accommodations, great location.

We had heard good things about this restaurant and were really looking forward to trying it! The first thing we noticed when we went to look for a seat near the window were the 8-10 giant flies hovering around the tables. We chose a table far from there. When the server brought water, I lifted our two glasses to pour the water. Both glass were smudged with ...??? Maybe dish soap residue ? I hope? The appetizer -- salad roll -- was perfect! Delicious! The Hawaiian fried rice, served in a pineapple, sounded like a great idea. The reality was that it was mushy, and the cashews that were supposed to be in it turned out to be ONE cashew. The Pad Thai was very GUMMY. It tasted okay, but the texture was much gummier than any Pad Thai I've ever had anywhere else. The Lemongrass Chicken was okay, although the peanut sauce seemed watered down and there wasn't much of it. All in all, we won't be going back. We'll head back to Thai Square, where the food is much better, the glasses are clean, and there aren't any flies.

This was a last minute decision and it turned out to be great. We ordered an appetizer of "O My God" and it was awesome! Cream cheese and crab wrapped up and fried can't be bad. For dinner, we went the stir-fry route, both of which were solid. I ordered the "I Love Veggies" and the man ordered the garlic with chicken. Great amount of veggies and protein in a tasty sauce. Next time, I want to try some of the curries and fried rices as they looked great as well.

We had headed for Jade, but the line was out the door, so we went across the street to spacious Thai Lahnna, which was even better (table service, lovely decor and good food, as opposed to standing in line to make a counter order, then worming around for table space and merely OK food.) The #1 Pad Thai is great, as is the #16 Bun with grilled pork and tiny rice noodles. I will definitely return for a more leisurely and tasty dining experience.

I came here with a friend not too long ago and ordered the pad thai with tofu. Honestly, I have had better. I would have liked a smaller more moderate portion (it was HUGE) with more eggs and tofu. It was all noodles. I It wasn't terrible but... I doubt I will go back.

  • Tessabella M.

Eeeeew!!! Pork was old tasting meet. the flavors laden with salt. Noodles were soggy. Veggies weren't very fresh except for brocolli. Curry was bland. Sticky rice was gooey. Thai tea was good. Service was, eh.

Went here on the recommendation of a local. Great flavors in peanut sauce, soups and pot stickers. Service exceptional. We went in just 10 minutes before closing but we were greeted cheerfully and had a great meal.

My girlfriend and I recently found ourselves in Sellwood with hungry stomachs and I persuaded her to give Thai Lahnna a try based on my positive experience a few years back. She ordered the rad nah and I ordered the massaman curry with tofu. Both dishes were so disappointing! Her rad nah was very watery and my massaman curry was so salty that I had to just pluck the veggies and tofu from the serving bowl and forgo pouring any curry sauce over my rice. With all the Thai restaurants in Portland, I don't think I'll be back to Thai Lahnna again.

We went on a very off hour, so there was only one other couple in the restaurant, but oh my gosh. This place was very cute, the waitress was friendly and great. We got our two usual dishes for the first time we go to a thai restaurant, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Not only was this one of the best Pad Thai's I've ever had, but my husband's Pad See Ew was the best I've ever had. It had a great complicated flavor. At first we thought this would be far too expensive to be a place we go often, but the amount of food we received made it well worth it. I was able to make three meals out of my left overs, two if I wanted to be overly full. Oh my, I almost forgot! The Thai Tea! Out-freaking-standing. This place is A++ will go again and we can't wait to try everything on the menu.

Great food. In a nice vintage house and the people here always friendly. The fried tofu is a must! Be sure to ask for peanut sauce! If you love thai food you need to put this place as one of the places to try and if you are like us we've put it up there as one of our regular spots.

My gf group changed our minds & didn't want to wait for busy Jade restaurant so all 14 of us went to Thai Lahnna without reservation! They took good care of us, even though they didn't have enough man power the night we went. So in my book, that's deserve many stars.

One of the best Thai places around the Portland area. Ingredients always fresh and you can taste it in the pad thai and a lot of flavor in the tom Kha soup. Not the best interior but the food definitely gets my vote and I've tried hundreds of pad thai's in the area. If they can get that right here, I'm sure everything else is delish! Service was great as well!

Came here for lumch for the first time. Restaurant is very clean and waitress is very friendly. There was about 7 more people in the restaurant. I ordered soup Tom Kha. The portion was not very big for $10.00 "bowl", but was enough for lunch. Soup was an average for my taste. I've had better Tom Kha soups before. There was 9 pieces of chicken in it (I counted), and about 50 pieces of onions! Just an average score for this place.

There's lots of Thai options in Portland. Indeed this right across the street from another Thai restaurant. I'd been to Jade, the place across the street, and it was fine. The outside seating at Thai Lahnna is nice. The service was great. The prices the same as just about anywhere else, $10 for a stir fried or noodle dish. The exact same price as Jade. The salad rolls were fresh and tasty. The Pad See Ew was nice and had a few sprigs of fresh cilantro, which was a nice touch. The Prad Gra Pow was excellent. The rice is a mix of white and black rice, which is also a nice touch. I saw lots of poor reviews for this place, and perhaps this place is hit or miss, but we really enjoyed it. We'll go back.

I see some mixed reviews for this little Thai spot, but our experience here was great. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered some salad rolls, expecting nothing special, but they were fresh, crisp, and really yummy. The dipping sauce was just ok, but I didn't really need it with all that crispy veggie goodness. My husband's curry was tasty with an adorable star shaped mound of both white and black rice. That star rice was the best part of the meal! I'm a sucker for cute The service was great, the outdoor seating lovely. I wish they had a better beer selection, as it would lure us back more often. A solid four stars - We would lean towards a 4.5 review, but the potatoes in the curry were a bit underdone, and we love potatoes.

I wouldn't even give this place 1 star.. both of our curries were uncooked.. let me tell u raw potatoes in peanut is not good..carrots looked unwashed straight out the ground and were uncooked as well... Worst Thai food I've ever had. My chicken and shrimp might have been undercooked as well and I'm feeling my stomach hurt almost instantly... Is stay away from this sketchy place

We decided to try Lahanna today for lunch. We arrived about 2:30 and had to find someone to seat us. The menu is great.. Prices right in line. My husbands dish of Bar B Q pork on vermicelli was good but lacked presentation. I ordered #13.. spicy, with mushrooms, green peppers, and basil. The dish served was loaded with carrots, no mushrooms, and was not spicy. I took my dish inside and Explained to the waitress while showing her the menu that I had the wrong dish. She apologized and brought out the same non spicy.. Loaded with carrots.. Mushrooms added. I gave up. It was alright but have had much better Thai food in the area. We will not be going back.

We've eaten here several times in the last month; it's our favorite Thai food in Sellwood. The food is as beautiful as it is delicious. I am a sucker for curry and their house curry, a red curry with peanut sauce, is awesome. It comes with white rice with a layer of black rice on top, all in the shape of a star. The servings are what I'd expect for the cost. The service is always great. I've gotten take out from here once; I got the house curry. It tasted a little different than when I had it in-house. I don't know if it was because it was their first dinner order (I was there at 4) or if they had a new chef or if it was just a fluke. It was still good, just not consistent. The take out doesnt come with the black rice either. I've never tried their bubble tea, but just think it should be known they have a handful of flavors!

I want to like it because it's cute and the service is friendly but there's a reason you can always get a seat here. For me it can all be summed up with two words: baby carrots. Really? Gross. I could say more but why bother, just go somewhere else.

As you walk up to the door and step in you may want to do a quick double take. It almost feels like you're about to walk into someone's home. This is probably because it is a house. Well, a house turned restaurant anyways. It's a nice, cozy atmosphere but could also be a bit crowded and noisy when the place is full. Luckily, we were there a bit later and did not face any sort of crowd. The menu offers a variety of options at pretty reasonable prices - we made it out for about $25 with the tip. It'd be easy to spend more, but on average I'd say Thai Lahnna falls at the lower end of Yelp's $$ rating. For dinner, I had the Chicken Pad Thai (seen here: yelp.com/biz_photos/TTCE… ). It was great, some of the best Pad Thai I've had and the side of peanut sauce was the perfect compliment. My better half enjoyed the Tom Yum Noodle Soup (seen here: yelp.com/biz_photos/TTCE… ). She was more than happy with her selection as well. Service was actually pretty fast, friendly, and helpful. However, I do have to nick them for bringing out our dishes separately, about 2-3 minutes apart. If you own a restaurant please listen up - don't do this! If you know there will be a significant delay on one dish, then ask the patrons, but please don't leave one person without a dish while the rest wait awkwardly with their food in front of them. Ok, I'll end that rant now :). When the time came to pay, I opened the bill to find some ginger candies - a nice, appropriate touch that sure beats the stereotypical mint. In the end, I'm a fan. The true measure of success for a restaurant (at least in my opinion, to which you're wholly entitled) is whether or not I will be back and if I recommend it to others. I can safely say that I will do both with Thai Lahnna. Completely random last though: I live nearby and have never really lived anywhere quite like this where I can just take a short walk to go out to dinner. I'm definitely a fan!

Nice Place, fast service. We had several dishes. The best was the drunken noodles. I think that was a 4-5 star dish. The others were all good but not great. The others at the table really liked the soup.

First time we came there my children had the fried rice and the won ton soup. It was mediocre. However, my veggie curry dish with eggplant with medium heat was awesome! My spouses fat noodle (chow fun) dish was amazing too. The next time we came back, we only ate the dishes we liked. If we only ate those dishes the first time we dined there, it would have been a five star!!!! I am positive you will love this place!

I really like their Thai salad and spring rolls; however, they use a lot of fish sauce (which I hear is authentic) in the rest of their dishes. Also the service is nice, and my to go is always as great as eating in their cute location.

This place used to be our goto take-out thai, but... The last take out a few months ago was average at best and tonight we decided to give it another try, but this time dine in. I ordered Pad See Ewwwwwww. The chicken was like a rubber duck. If I dropped it on the floor it probably would have bounced back onto the plate. It seriously tasted like it was microwaved. The noodles were overcooked as well. On the bright side, my wife's' meal was much better and the fried wonton appetizer was good, as was the thai iced tea. There are LOTS of choices for thai in the Portland area, and I think it's time to try someplace else next time we have a hankering.

Boring. I'm totally not a food snob but I just couldn't find anything remarkable about this place. We went on Friday Night at 730pm and it was DEAD (uh oh). I'm from out of town and if the locals don't like something I should have cut and run. I didn't. Our waiter was inattentive and seemed like he would rather be hiding in the kitchen or maybe skipping class at the community college to smoke weed and you know, work on himself.... Sad as there was only ONE other table with ONE person for most of our meal. And I'm not needy but I was frustrated at my food getting cold while waiting for someone to ask me if I needed anything..... So What did I need? I needed spices! Sriracha, chili paste, jalapenos, dear god anything to make me liven up this bland, warmed over, cooked yesterday food. My girlfriend is vegetarian and I was for a long time, so we got one meatless and one with. I really felt sorry for her- boring ass Pad Thai with limp bland tofu. Mine was not much better and I am sorry to say I can't even remember it. Pricing was not great either. Atmosphere was sort of awkward- it COULD be really cool given your meal takes place in a converted Victorian. But spiderwebs and dust everywhere was enough to make me realize- they are just going through the motions here. Sorry- I really wanted to like it. *FYI- so you don't think I am harsh, across the street is JADE and I want to have their baby. Karl

My husband is a man who can eat a lot of food. I love him for this...to a point. He can be an expensive date. I have learned that we can rarely get out of a restaurant, particularly if its a nice local one, for under $45. We did it though - at Thai Lahnna - for $39!!!! The other place we were going to go was super busy and I remembered this place. I had always wanted to try it and finally the time was right. I have the special, Mango stir fry with tofu, and my husband had a beef curry dish "hot" that he really liked. The crab rangoon app was FAB!!!!. Chrysanthemum (sp?) tea was lovely. No dessert this time but I did see coconut ice cream (my fav) listed. Close, affordable, mostly clean (could use a dusting in the corners) and I LOVED all the orange on the table (my tea pot, husband thai tea, my mug, the mango, his carrots, my entree sause - very eye catching!!)

I'd recommend this as the best Thai food place in Sellwood, especially in the summer (they have a wonderful patio area that's wonderful for sitting at). If you're into curry, they have the same stuff that every other Thai place has -- and it's really good. The Massaman, Yellow and Green curry are all delicious, and the soups are good too! If you're in the Sellwood area, be sure to stop by sometime. Oh, and it's in a nice Victorian house. That might add to its charm.

My wife went here last fall for the pumpkin curry, and wasn't real impressed. I had wanted to go here for a while since it's very close to home, so we got take out. They have a fantastic location and great patio out front (which is one of my stars). I've always been a fan of beef currys, and sort of use that as a relative thai food gauge. So what better place to start than the House Special Curry with beef. It was OK, not much beef, had a good amount of veggies which isn't bad, but contained tons of those baby carrots you get by the bag in the grocery store. Really? It was more of a meat and veggie stew. Where's the tasty, thick, flavorful sauce I've come to enjoy about beef currys. I forgot what my wife got, but wasn't impressed either. The taste is not bad, and is fresh, but lacks as a real thai food destination. Although the staff is amazingly polite and efficient (my other star), I think I'll have to wait a bit before returning, and perhaps with time there could be some rethinking on the recipes.

Not great or exceptional, but perfectly adequate when Thai food is needed in a pinch (or closeby). What is most notable about this place is the adorable restaurant, which seems to be set in an old house, which is cute, but makes the Thai food served out of place. I went with a gaggle of galls, everyone ordered something different, and nothing seemed to be worth the price, with the exception that the portions were fairly large (unfortunately, I didn't really care for two days of Thai food). Also, plain Jane regular coffee was three dollars.

When we moved to Sellwood we were excited to have found a Thai restaurant so close to us. The food is delicious, affordable, and the staff is always friendly. If you eat meat, I highly suggest it. However, we don't eat meat. About a month ago my husband found chicken in his curry. This had been an isolated event for us and figured everyone has an off night. The two times after that we've both found meat in our food. Big chunks. Three strikes. What a disappointment. Sorry Thai Lahnna, make an effort to be more conscientious to your customers with diet restrictions.

Mussaman Curry!!! with tofu!!! and whole peanuts!!!!! @'medium plus' heat Perfect chunks of potato and pretty little broccoli florets! Did I already say whole peanuts? This is the standard by which I rate all Mussaman curries and few have touched it's comforting savory richness. No one else serves it with or on the star-shape-molded Thai jasmine dark red over white rice. I've also had their vegetarian Tom Kah soup. It was my first time and I must say if I weren't so addicted to the Mussaman, I'd probably be having more of it. Why not 5 stars? The sauce is not consistently thick. Sometimes I've ordered to go and only the white rice is in the box. I'll no doubt update after my next visit.

I am usually a regular Thai Peacock goer, but decided to branch out and try a Thai restaurant that I don't have to drive downtown for. I can't say that Thai Lahnna's stir fries are as good as Thai Peacock's but they came close. We had the vege lover and ginger stir fries and wiped out plates clean, if that says anything. And the rice that they serve you comes on a plate in the shape of a star, with both white and black rice! Not sure what the black rice was about, but it was fun eating star rice nonetheless. The place was very cozy, and very packed. The waiters were very nice, but perhaps a little too eager to keep the customers coming...twice the waitress tried to clear our plates before we were done eating. However, the food came out fast and the prices were reasonable, about $9-11 for entrees, a little more for the specials. Definitely a good non-downtown alternative for Thai Food, you won't be disappointed. They won best Thai Restaurant for City Search (I know because they had signs about it covering the walls of the restaurant...a bit tacky but it is something to be proud of).

No body likes moving, except for the fact that because your dishes, utensils, and all of your cookware are in boxes, and you haven't yet stocked up at the local market, you MUST eat out. So, in some ways it's a foodie's dream. Thai Lahanna was one of the places I hit recently while unpacking in Portland. Their food was good, we ordered the fresh spring rolls which were heavy on the sprouts, light on almost everything else, but soft and definitely fresh. This was followed by their pad thai and pumpkin curry, two staple dishes for most thai restaurants. Accompanying the curry was by far the cutest presentation of rice ( molded to look like a crescent shaped moon and a star) I've ever seen. The food was good, and I'm holding back on the 4th star because I'm spoiled and used to the Bay Area's a bit more authentic version of Thai spices, but I will definitely be back to try their lunch, so watch out!

This place is awesome! Best Thai I've ever had and I'm difficult to please when it comes to Thai food. Went there for lunch today and had the Yellow Curry with chicken that includes baby carrots, potatoes, onions, bell peppers, and a yellow curry coconut paste which is really like a thick broth. The flavors were a perfect combo of sweet and spicey with the veggies cooked just right and only $7 bucks! The restaurant is in an old converted house and the staff is as charming as the house. I'll be going back again soon.

Not my absolute favorite thai restaurant in the world, but definitely really good. In college we used to come here fairly regularly for consistently good thai food at reasonable prices. The pad thai is some of the better pad thai Iv'e found in Portland, the yellow curry and seafood curries consistently rock, and I don't remember what my roommate used to get but she was pretty religious about always going to thai lahnna when she was craving that particular dish.the indoor and outdoor seating are both cozy, but when its nice out my favorite thing is to get my thai to go and eat it in the sellwood park overlooking the river.

We did not like our meal from Thai Lahnna at all. I was actually debating between one and two stars but decided to go with two because where we got take out, it is possible that the meal lost something in the trip back to our place. When Paul got home with the take out, the box w/his meal in it had started leaking onto everything else. This burns me up more than any other issue with getting take out. Why would you put it in a box that can leak so easily? They put my curry in a sealed plastic container, why not his? So stupid, seriously. It was such a mess. Thankfully, my curry didn't get contaminated! But the papaya salad did, it had a layer of beef Pad Ga Prow on it and so did the big box of rice that they gave us. I fixed myself some brown rice that I had at home and tried out my pumpkin curry. I had asked for it to be less sugary, which they did do. That was good. I prefer the taste of pumpkin over the sugary taste that I find some Thai dishes have. The thing was, it was so oily! There was a layer of oil on my plate and you could taste it with every spoon full. I barely ended up eating any and tossed it away. It just tasted so odd. Obviously where the papaya salad was now a beef Pad Ga Prow/papaya salad fusion I skipped that. Paul mentioned that it tasted pretty strange, apparently it had a lot of dressing on it. The whole thing was just a big thumbs down from what he said. We threw that away too. So, now on to Paul's beef Pad Ga Prow. He wasn't too impressed, in fact he pretty much disliked it. It was super oily from what he said. It was funny, he actually said several times to me last night "why did they have to make it so oily?" He didn't eat all that much of it and tossed the rest out. Overall, I would say one star but for now I am giving it two because it is really possible that maybe take out just isn't a good way to go with Thai Lahnna. And it is possible some people may just like their Thai food with a lot of oil, isn't it? Oh, and they were nice enough to fix me a special lower sugar pumpkin curry so that I could taste more pumpkin than anything else so, that deserves a star, right?

The pleasure of food, without the obnoxiousness of leaving the house. That is my friday night with takeout from Thai Lahnna. I'm a Thai Peacock fan, but in a pinch and lazily not wanting to venture far from home, I can dig some Lahnna. Pra Ram with tofu - Large slices of tofu, peanutty a plenty, hit the spot. Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp - 2 shrimp, milder than expected. Yellow curry with beef- Baby carrots? Whatevs, appropriately spicy, lots of slices of meat. According to my live-in courier the take out was super easy, ready to go. $25

If i could give 3.5 i would......Iced coffee, check. Salad rolls, check. Crab rangoon (no go), pineapple fried rice, check. Its in a really neat old house, very low key, great lunch early dinner spot and you will likely be alone.

This is our 'go-to' place for out of town guests. Exquisite and authentic food. MAKE RESERVATIONS - the restaurant is in a Historical Building and its not real big. Have to say the Pumpkin Curry is over the top and I've eaten a LOT of Thai food over the years.

Yummmm....so good. I've taken a single friend and a large group here and everyone has loved it. The prices are wonderful as is the service. The House Curry and the Fresh Spring rolls are so wonderful. I love the way the serve the rice and it tastes wonderful.

This place is great. Most important thing to note: if you ask for hot, it WILL be hot! I hate it when I go somewhere and ask for hot food and it comes out totally mild. So only order Hot if you mean it. The food tastes great and the ingredients are so fresh- I'd recommend trying their soups, Papaya salad, or the curries. It's also priced very reasonably, and there are rarely any waits to get a table. The only downfall of this place is that sometimes they are a little understaffed and it takes a bit long to get your plate or a drink refill, but not too bad. It's one of my favorite restaurants.

Little spendy and a bit slow, but it was pretty good. Did take out and the wait was supposed to be 20 minutes, but it ended up being about 25-30. The Pad Thai my wife ordered was good, I'm not much of a fan of Pad Thai, so I can't really say how good. I had Green Curry and Panang Curry, both were great. Really flavorful, and really fresh veggies. The Panang was tofu and it was nice big chunks of fried tofu. We'll definitely order from here again. Looks like a great place to eat in, kind of reminds me of Lemongrass.

Very slow service, and oyster sauce in our supposedly-vegetarian food after we were offered assurance that the chef would make it 'special' for us. The food was not particularly noteworthy, probably some of the weakest Thai food in terms of flavor I've had yet in Portland.

Whoa! Soooooo, I've been in here before for lunch. Not too shabby on things like food and price. Plus they have fried bananas, something I utterly adore! But a friend of mine and I headed in there for dinner one night and they changed my opinion for good. We arrived for dinner around 8:15p...I think it was a tuesday or wednesday. We were greeted, sat and ordered shortly thereafter. My friend and I are both big thai fans so we ordered like 5 different things so we could have plenty of leftovers for us both. The waitress even commented that we'd ordered a lot of food. All were amused (: Our food even came out in a timely manner.....there were only 2 other tables when we sat and another couple came in after we'd ordered. I was a little bummed by the seafood dish I ordered (forgive me but I can't quite remember what it was. It definitely had shellfish in it because the crab legs that were in there were tiny.....not nearly enough for more than a nibble of meat....and I think they were supposed to be the feature of the dish) but wasn't too upset since we had other yummy food on the table. Then, most of the way through our meal I ask for the fried bananas. The waitress tells me the kitchen is mostly closed down but she would ask. She returns with a definite no. Bummer but also understandable....it was maybe 8:50p. I work in a kitchen so I get that you close down pretty fast if you wanna go home at a reasonable hour and its not so easy to always just whip something up once you've shut down. So now we're at two small disappointments but we are still enjoying ourselves.......here it comes........moments later she returns to the table and informs us quite rudely that the restaurant closes at nine and we need to leave. Pardon me? I get that you want to go home but we ordered a good deal of food, have been kind customers and not making a ruckus in your establishment. You're kidding me. I have worked in the industry for many years and I have never, EVER told a customer to leave like that. I've never even heard of such a thing. I won't be going back. If you do decide to go, do not go anywhere near closing. RUDE!

OK I really like this place. They have a great lunch special that hubby raves about ... so we went there ... several times. Nice menu - lots of options - most available with tofu, chicken, beef or shrimp. Many curry choices (YAY) and noodle ... and stir fry. Just lots of choices for any palette. BUT the best part ... is their crab rangoon ... they put basil in it and it comes with this yummy homemade spicy sauce ... I can't ... speak ... need ... them ... mmmmm ... If they would just put chopsticks on my table without me asking ... life would be perfect. They closed for two weeks recently (I mean who needs a vacation - seriously) ... but they're open again!! Happy days are here again! ** I'm revising this review ... because my favorite part - the spicy sauce that accompanies the crag rangoon has changed. It is NOT nearly as good and I am secretly hoping they read this review and fix it BOO!! **

It was just OK. The rice is "cute" but my eggplant dish didn't have enough and seemed overcooked to the point the I couldn't pick it up. Other's in my party like what they had.

Eeeeew!!! Pork was old tasting meet. the flavors laden with salt. Noodles were soggy. Veggies weren't very fresh except for brocolli. Curry was bland. Sticky rice was gooey. Thai tea was good. Service was, eh.

Overpriced Nearly $10 for a side salad portion Not bad but doesn't hold up to Portland standards for Thai Yellow curry was bad Poor quality shrimp used I guess there are few Thai options in Sellwood Service was good

Best Americanized Thai Restaurant near Sellwood. Standard curries, noodle dishes and rices abound at this go-to neighborhood joint. They won't blow your mind, but they won't disappoint either.
