I eat a lot of Thai food and this is by far my favorite place in Portland. I've been coming here for about three years and I have yet to be less than blissfully happy after my meal. The dishes are flavorful with good sized portions, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend to try it!

Went here after our initial pick wasn't open on Sundays. This seems to be family owned operated. They are super friendly and service was quick. As for the food, it was Great. We eat out alot quite often and usually guage the Thai food by how the Papaya salad & larb taste. Easy dishes but many Thai restaurants do it ohhh so wrong. They both were great. We also ordered Drunken noodles and curry which were both good. Although the BBQ chicken was awful! Some parts of the meat was cold, i think they may of reheated this dish.. a total no! no! for restaurants.. This is a place I would keep in mind for my future visits to Portland

Yum! I really like Thai Chili Jam. It's now my favorite Thai restaurant in town thanks to the lunch specials and consistently good food. I like the classic Pad Thai, the old standby that always hits the spot for a satisfying midday meal. Beware: if you ask for extra spicy, your tongue may catch on fire. There are tables outside for eating during warmer weather, but be aware that there is a bus stop on the same corner as the entrance and commuters have a bad habit of sitting at them. The owner has significantly improved the interior, with updates such as a big screen TV and nicer decor. The specials board is right by the counter when you walk in; I always find it funny that they have a special called "Ohh My God"! Never tried it, but cute nonetheless. I'm a little surprised by so many negative reviews. This place used to be Thai Palace, and the quality of the food was all over the map. One day it would be great, and the next week the food would be barely edible. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen, but it was very inconsistent. The new owner changed the name and menu, and things seem to be going well for this little restaurant. I've never had a problem understanding the current heavily-accented staff, they seem to speak English very well. They are also very friendly and nice!

I had a long list of Portland restaurants to visit while in town, but I simply ran out of time and needed to eat something immediately. So happy to stumble upon Thai Chili Jam. Owners are super nice people. Sat us down, gave us ice water and some menus while we ordered take out. Dungeness crab phad thai. Yummy. Gigantic portion, but still very tasty and perfect with a dry reisling.

We had a lovely dining experience here, and enjoyed everything from the colorful decor to the cheerful server to the fresh and tasty food. The dishes that we sampled were standard Thai fare, chicken satay, thom kha soup, and pad thai, but they were well executed and flavorful. I was particularly happy with all the fresh veggies that came with the pad thai. I'm still pouting a bit that I haven't yet found a Thai restaurant that serves huge portions of thom kha soup in a bowl with a heater at the table, as my favorite Thai place in California does. I'm about ready to give up on that, however--it just doesn't seem to be a Washington/Oregon thing.

Good food and great service at low cost. Area was not that nice, saw homeless people and hoodlums in the area.

Oh my god.... exactly, Oh My God, you must order that particular appetizer and you won't be disappointed. I discovered this place by accident when the nearby Ole Ole was closed and have been back a few times. The dining area is cozy and the staff very friendly. The Oh My God appetizer is the bomb and the food is spot on. Well worth many return trips.

When I first saw that Thai Chili Jam had opened, I noticed that the reviews they were getting were incredibly mixed. I figured I would wait a while before deciding whether I wanted to give them a try; let the community decide what they thought so I could get a better idea of whether or not it was worth it. After waiting for awhile I noticed that there was a significant downward trend in their rating and, obviously, decided I should try them. Because what better reason to try a new restaurant than a down-trend, right? I guess that's not great reasoning. Well, I tried them, and I have to say that I was not displeased. In fact, contrary to a trend of worse and worse reviews, I'd have to say that I was quite happy with my experience at Thai Chili Jam. It took a few minutes before we got seated, so we thought we might be off to a rough start. However, when the waitress noticed us, she apologized for us having to wait and was incredibly cheerful and polite. She had us sit down and we had water immediately. Shortly after, our order was taken, and we got ready to wait. We didn't get to wait: we had our salad rolls within minutes. We were in shock. No wait for Thai food? What has happened? This is not the Thai food experience that I had come to know! This was something...more. We ate our salad rolls, and within minutes of the plates disappearing, we had our entrees. More shock. What is happening? Why did we not have to wait ten to twenty minutes? Amazing. And while I'm talking about crazy awesome service, our water never even got half empty. As far as the quality of the food, I was pretty happy with that, too. The salad rolls were very fresh, and the sauce they came with was warm. I've only been to one other place that served the salad roll sauce warm, and I have to say that I certainly prefer it that way. For our entrees, I ordered the Pad Thai, while my girlfriend got Pad Kee Mao. The Pad Thai is where this became a four star review. The dish was good. It was delicious, even. But it just didn't taste like Pad Thai to me. It had a very American-Chinese/Teriyaki flavor to it. Not what I was expected, but good, none-the-less. The Pad Kee Mao, however, is something I would definitely come back for. I only got to try a couple bites, but what I did try was really delicious, very good Pad Kee Mao. My girlfriend's favorite Thai dish is Pad Kee Mao, and she was very happy with it.

Thai Chili Jam offers your basic Thai food. Nothing about this place is special. The food is OK, but I've had way better Thai food at cheaper restaurants. The service was slow, and the waitress messed up my friend's order, twice. The dishes range from about $8-$12, which is decent. I ordered the Pad See Ew, which was sub par. This restaurant overall is sub par. Sub par food and way sub par service make this restaurant not really worth visiting. Final verdict: don't go here.

Hell no! I would give it negative stars if I could! I literally just got back from trying to have lunch here, and it was freaking horrible. My husband is wondering if we are just so pissed that it made the food taste bad, or if it really sucked. It sucked. Big Grand Opening banner flying, my husband and I zoom in to get some food. He really wanted to go to the Bento place next door, but I was craving Thai. We should have gone next door. The place looks to be doing a good business, and we both order off of the lunch specials, because we are in a bit of a hurry. They immediately bring water and take beverage order...good. 15 mins later, bring beverages and take order...ok, they have a large group that looks to be about done, so it should get better. 20 mins after order is placed, she motions that our order is almost ready. 15 mins after the progress update, we get our appetizer - potstickers. They are good. Nothing special, but good. 37 mins after the appetizer plate (licked clean by the way as we are starving) is taken away, I see my order on the counter. 12 mins later, she brings it to me. No sign of my husbands order, but she tells us its up and she will be right back. 15 mins later, still no hubby food. Owner asks can I get you anything else....we say, well we just got this, but are STILL waiting for the other order. He has filled our beverages 3 times by now. They scream the order to the back, and then we say F-it. Tell the buss girl to cancel the order, we want the check. She give us some crappy salad rolls on the house, which my husband took a bite of but ICK! Forced down a little of the Pad Thai that I ordered medium hot. It came out bland, no heat at all, and was so sickeningly sweet and sticky, with almost no trace of chicken or egg, we left most of it there. Takes another 10 mins to get the check, for which we scrounge exact change, and leave. Now after that rant, isn't a lunch special supposed to be quick by definition? You zoom in, and are out in under 30 mins. The one waitress that seemed to be running the register and all the tables was more concerned about the customers leaving than the ones waiting for food. I was so grossed out about my food sitting on the public counter with people standing over it and passing her money, I'm still fighting the gag reflex. I just can't say find anything good to say about this place. Whoops, I just gagged again.

I've been there twice for the Phad Thai and both times it was terrible. It's like having thai rice noodles covered in too much ketchup. I definitely don't recommend it.

I came here on my lunch break, and the atmosphere put me off a bit...still I decided to sit and dine. The food was awful, probably the worst pad thai I've ever had. The waitress spilled water on my plate of noodles when she refilled my glass. I won't be coming back.

I tried many variations of pad thai and Thai Chili Jam has gotten it just right!!!! Hands down the best pad thai i have EVER had and I have tried over 40 different kinds. Believe me, the restaurant itself may not be all that hot looking but the food is authentic and DELICIOUS! I find myself craving the pad thai daily!

Great little Thai place! I had the Massaman curry, it had a really good smokey flavor to it and the spice was just right. Will definitely be going there again.

My review is highly partial to the fact that the waitress remembers my boyfriend and I, even on our second visit. We have slowly become regulars I appreciate the attentive service. The food always seems to arrive quickly and tastes amazing. I love their curries, especially the mango curry when the mangos are in season, of course. The price is reasonable. We both get entrees and hot tea for around $20. I will definitely keep visiting Thai Chili Jam for dine in and take out. Side Note: I can't recommend this place for lunch. I called ahead and ordered some curry for take out, but I wasn't very impressed. The $7 wasn't worth it, so I'll stick to Thai food carts for good, cheap curry. Still good for dinner though!

We came here at 430 pm on a Sunday. There wasn't anyone seated so we checked it out with some sceptical curiosity. I ordered the Thai iced tea (sweet and creamy) and pot stickers to start. The sauce for the pot stickers was sweet and gingery (maybe a touch too sweet for me) and the pot stickers were good (nothing special though) For dinner I had their Pad Thai which I enjoyed. It had a barbecue-esque personality with some chili flakes for heat. Large portion that I could have gobbled the whole thing down right there, but I paced myself and it ended up being lunch for me the next day as well. My wife had the Panang curry. She wasn't overly impressed by it (she makes a mean curry herself). I tried it and thought it was pretty standard, but good. A nice portion size, I think our entrees cost around $9 each. It was nice to have the place to ourselves and we were pleased with the service and the overall quality and value of the food. Will be back again.

Funny name, amazing food. Portland is chock full of thai food places with puns for names and so-so food. Thai Chili Jam is the Real Deal. Had the yellow curry and drunken noodles, and both were suberb. Hot was genuinely spicy, and - a rarity in this town, it was done in a way that added flavor to the dish, not just heat. Well done, Thai Chili Jam! I'll definitely be back for more.

I only recently discovered this jewel on Jefferson. The flavors of the Penang curry was truly excellent! We also ordered fresh rolls, rad nar and mango sticky rice. Everything was delicious and the service was delightful! I can't wait to go back and try the Khao Soi Kai and Evil Jungle Noodles!

I believe this place changed hands recently. My last experience was not so great. I decided to try it again as it is so close to my house. My best judge of good Thai, is chicken yellow curry and pad thai. I ordered it to go and it was ready on time. When I got home I was ready to reheat it, but I was pleasantly surprise that it was all still hot. No need reheat is always a plus. I had the medium spice on both dishes and it was perfect. The yellow curry had tons of flavor. The pad thai had fresh bean sprout and lettuce. Lettuce is unusual but I like the contrast. Even the lime they served had tons of juice. I can't wait to try this place again.

We just tried Thai Chili Jam and had a great experience. Solid menu; nothng too exotic but all of the basics. Quick service with a smile. Food was excellent. Very fresh. On-street paid parking. Doesn't look like much from the outside and casual on the inside, but clean and nice. We'd definitely go again.

Food wasn't up to par with the rest of Portland's Thai food. Also, my server didn't understand restaurant.com gift certificates and stormed off. Comped my lunch, but I will not be returning.

Well - I hate to write a 1-star review for a business that's clearly a small, family run operation. I forgot what day we went in - but it was about 8pm or so (late June). It was empty and we took a nice table. The big windows are sadly obscured by signage that advertises the place right at eye level. So they've got a wonderful corner spot with a view (not much to look at outside but I just like looking out windows) - but at my eye level I see the backside of their banners advertising the business. OK - no big deal. Place seemed nice, comfortable, casual. Service was prompt and polite. Even when more people walked in, the single server seemed able to keep up with things and keep things moving. No complaints there. Sadly - the food just wasn't good. In a city with the "average" Thai place serving up delicious and fresh fare, this place was uninspired. I wish I could remember details of what we ordered but my wife and I basically summarized it as lots of stuff inside a thick peanut sauce. The curry dish I had did not exhibit a hint of curry but lots of thick peanut sauce. Perhaps I got the wrong dish? The shrimp satay was OK. Shrimp was not very good. If this were a discount place, I'd say OK - you got what you paid for - but the prices here were pretty healthy (being downtown - that's expected). In any case - I hope all the other reviews were more accurate and I was just there on an off night because I really would like this nice friendly family place to succeed - but we won't be going back.

This is a great place to get a quick Thai fix. Service is friendly, yet odd most times, and they are very attentive. The food is average to above average, as far as curry goes, because most of the meat appears reheated in some dishes (and sometimes entire dishes). However, for the price it is a good value. I will be back again.

My Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) was delicious. I order this dish a lot, and it was some of the best I've had. But the portion was kind of small. I get much more for $5 at a food cart. When my husband finished his plate of Pad See Ew, he said he was still hungry. Usually it's the opposite at Thai restaurants around here ... often you have enough for the next day's lunch, too. That's my only complaint. A little more food, and I'd definitely be back.

Thai Chili Jam is most definitely one of my favorite Thai places in the area. Each one of the staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. My favorite dish is the sukiyaki noodles. If you have not tried them you must get them at Thai Chili Jam! I have yet to find another thai restaurant with Sukiyaki. My family and I love so much to come here whenever we can. It is truly an amazing restaurant run by amazing people. :]

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants, some of the best service I have ever experienced (fast, friendly and very polite). It also happens to have my favorite curry (Thai Chili Jam Curry with rice... yum), I can't wait to try the typical Pad Thai.

This place is totally my secret spot. I've eaten there several times and always walk away wondering why more people don't know about it! Great food, great service and never a wait! And they have a lot of good vegetarian options!

I've been to many a Thai place and all I can say is I have had better. The service was slow even though it was us and another table, we had to go feed the meter more money and at a buck 60 these days, yikes! The prices were a bit high, 'cause they are downtown I guess they think they can charge more even if it's not better. Portions on the smaller side. My hubby's Khao Soi was boring and my Evil Jungle Noodles were just spicy, not a lot of other flavors going on. Oh well. Save your meter money and go somewhere else.

So delicious, such wonderful people! Everyone who works here is just fantastically nice and accommodating, and every time I come in I'm impressed. Don't get medium spice unless you can handle a lot, go mild + if not. They're so fast too!

This place has potential but their food is too spicy. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE spicy foods but the drunken noodles I ordered at a medium level of heat was so hot it started burning my lips the moment the food hit my tongue. This place has potential but it's so hot I can't taste real flavor. Also, the portions are horribly small for how much I paid. I have to say that I won't be returning. My go to place is Pad Thai Kitchen

My manager and I came here for lunch on Friday. We just started working together, so it was a great opportunity to have some time away from the office and get to know one another a bit better. I was last here in June 2014 and liked it, but felt service was a bit distant and could warm up some. Today the food was as good as ever. I can't remember the name of the dish I had, but it was a combo of pork and veggies and rice with lots of ginger and of medium heat. Very tasty and fresh. Service was friendly and gracious, and our glasses were refilled with our choice of beverage. The decor has been updated and seems more unified in theme and more sophisticated. I'm pleased to award five stars for obvious improvement in friendliness and updates in decor. Good job! I will definitely return and will also recommend Thai Chili Jam.

I was a little apprehensive of the quality near a place where PSU students frequent, but if you're in the vicinity, it's a solid place for Thai. The pra ram was delicious and personally the perfect amount of spice at medium. The green papaya salad was wonderfully flavored-- but if i had to nitpick, the peanuts were a bit over roasted. Service is excellent and friendly. The owners are high energy for sure.

I trusted my GPS as this being the closest restaurant to get out of rush hour traffic. This was my lucky day! This is a nice space with Thai pop music playing at a comfortable level. I ordered extra spicy mango curry, and they were not wimpy about the spice. Love it! Sweet, spicy, wonderful. The spice was well integrated in the dish. (Uh oh. The capsaicin euphoria just kicked in) This was a good stop.

This is a seemingly run of the mill Thai restaurant in a sea of the thousands of Thai restaurants spread throughout Portland. The food is quite good though. I frequented their lunch service on a several day per week basis for about a year and a half. I also found myself stoping by to grab take out for dinner from time to time. Bear in mind that I tend to go to the good places near my office quite a lot because they're reliable and quick until I start to get burnt out. The business is family owned and operated and currently has 2 locations that I know of. The staff are always great and know me personally. When I venture back that way we always have great chats and reminisce about the days when I was just a bare lipped Portland transplant trying to make it in the Rose city. My favorite dishes are the Pra Ram with tofu or chicken (Joel loves peanut sauce) and the pineapple fried rice with pork and cashews added. As with most Thai places you can choose your spice level. I tend to go for medium to hot (Joel likes his Kung Pao spicy!) but that can actually vary from tasting no spice at all or it's so hot the skin will peel off the roof of your mouth. It depends on who is cooking that day. If you're in the neighborhood check it out!

I work right next to Thai Chili Jam in Goose Hollow, an area of Portland that for some reason or another seems to have hardly anything going for it food wise. I have probably been to Thai Chili Jam 10 times, mostly because it is a pretty solid Thai place in an area where there is not much to choose from. I've often get the drunken noodles, which are good but can be rather greasy. The Pad Thai is pretty good here as well. One thing to keep in mind about Thai Chili Jam is spice level. When I think medium spice, I don't think I need a sweat rag and several pitchers of water to get through my meal. This is what medium generally is at Thai Chili Jam. If you like spice, I'd go with mildly spicy which should still pack quite a kick. I've never had anything "spicy" here, and I'm sure my colon thanks me. I tried the Pra Ram with chicken the other day, which is vegetables with chicken and peanut sauce. I thought it was just ok, the chicken was fairly dry, and the peanut sauce was a little lukewarm with reminded me of thin peanut butter or something. Not my favorite thing I've had from them. Overall, this is a pretty solid offering in the area. I've had better Thai places, but for the price and given the location, Thai Chili Jam delivers.

Great Thai food close to home. They have an easy demeanor and the food is ready relatively quickly. The pad thai is more than comparable to other, fancier locations that cost much more and the curry is quite good. Have not yet dined in.

I like Thai Jam for some quick Thai... Great for a midweek dinner stop I've had the pad se eww and the pa ram (with chicken and tofu)... The Thai iced tea was spot on

I absolutely love this place. I spent time in Thailand and can say that the food here is authentic. They don't make the food too sweet like most Thai restaurants in the U.S. and they don't shy away from using fish oil either, which many Thai restaurants in the U.S do as well! I also know that they import the best mangoes for their mango sticky rice and if they're not in season it's not available which is how it should be. Forget about Pok Pok, this place is Thai owned, women owned, and one of the best spots to take your friends and family in Portland.

This place is my favorite Thai place in Portland. I took my wife here for our first date four years ago and we have never had a bad experience. We just ordered the pad cashew for the first time and it is now on the favorite list. Sweet, salty, spicy and sour in the perfect proportions. Their curry is the best and their tofu is always perfectly crisp. I love this place and recommend it to everyone.

I ordered the Green Curry. Waitress asked how spicy? I said "medium." When the dish came I started eating it. OMG, I know Thai is spicy but this is super spicy: eyes watering, mouth burning, face flushing. I tried to soldier through it as I don't mind spice, but all I could taste was fire. Just pour hot sauce in your mouth. I did something I rarely do: told the waitress it was too spicy for me, so could they please remake it. She said "next time order 'mild'" Ok, whatever, I usually order 'medium' at every other thai, Chinese, etc restaurant, but good to know here. While I waited I gulped the water glass. Didn't touch my martini as that would be like pouring gas on a fire. When the dish came out it was 1/2 - 2/3rds as spicy as the original. It tasted pretty good at first but got progressively hotter. I got through most of it but mouth on fire, eyes watering, flushed, now stomach hurting, I told the waitress I wanted the check. I told her "your cook is screwed up, there is no way that dish was to be considered "mild." She copped attitude "we fixed your dish, we absolutely added no red pepper, it's hot outside." Really? Is that why my mouth is on fire? Proper response is an apology (as I am visibly flushed, sweating, and eyes watering), maybe something comped (as I live in the hood and have eaten here several times before, left a lot uneaten and undrinken), and a word with the cook. The percentage of people who leave a negative review on Yelp v. the number of people who leave unhappy is prob. 100:1. Told her I wasn't coming here again. This is effed up. Left no tip, but accidently left a bottle of vodka. A whole bunch of "firsts" here.

This place is great! It's a little divey but the food is delicious! Pad Thai chicken is my favorite item on the menu! They have different spice levels so everyone can be happy! This is a frequent stop for me!

Everytime I come here, I'm absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. The staff are so nice and if you order seafood it is the freshest seafood I've ever tasted. and if you order in, they'll fold the paper from your straw into a little rose. I thought that was cute. Huge portions, and it's pretty cheap too.

Excellent Thai back up by great service. The setting is unremarkable with basic back padded chairs and tables. The food however is terrific. They are very careful to ask you your preferences of spiciness. They will make your dishes anywhere from mild to super hot. One of our party had lived in Thailand so he did the order. I haven't a clue what I was eating but it was awesome. Prices are more than fair.

It's a mediocre thai spot in a city with tons of great thai food. The service is good, the food is ok. It is busy because of its proximity to PSU. Stick with the thai classics here and you'll be fine.

As other reviewers have noted, this place looks like every other run of the mill Thai place in town. You can't turn the corner in Portland without running into 3 Thai restaurants. But for my money, this is one of the best in the city. The Thai Chili Basil Curry is my wife's favorite dish. I love the Pad Thai here. The noodles are perfect and not sticky. Meat always tastes fresh! We moved away from the downtown area, but still take the trip downtown to eat here!

So after moving to the area I was looking for a good Thai place and honestly held off on this place for quite some time due to the mixed reviews. I'm really disappointed I did. I am a huge Thai fan and eat lots of Thai wherever I travel. Although this place is not the very best I've ever had, it's very good. The yellow curry (one of my favorites) is rich and creamy and delicious over the bed of white rice is comes with. The Pad Thai is full flavored, rich and the veggies and prawns taste fresh and perfectly cooked. Every time I walk in this place I'm greeted with a smile and I've never had a problem getting a seat. The staff is fun, friendly, and borderline flirty. Overall, you'll get a great meal, at a descent price, served by warm and friendly staff; what more could you ask for?

My boyfriend and I love this Thai restaurant. We get chicken satay and phad Thai frequently because the peanut sauce with the chicken (and the chicken itself) are amazing and the sauce they use on the phad Thai is the best we've found. The people who work there are really friendly too, this place is just all around great and we'll continue to be returning customers! They're Thai tea is also really good if you're a fan of Thai tea!

We recently moved to the area and we always see this place with a good mount of people so we decided to give it a try. This place is your average Thai restaurant with average prices. I ordered the pad ke Mao which had a good taste, but it was too dry and the chicken was a bit over cooked. The portions were fairly big (no picture because my phones camera was broken) and worth the $10. Service was friendly, promptly sat down the waitress brought out water with lemon, very refreshing on a hot day during the summer. The meal only took about 10 minutes to be made and brought out. I would however recommend Ban Thai, another Thai restaurant in the psu district. It's prices are similar but the food was better.

The food was alright. Not very expensive though. If you are looking for some Thai food options, this is worth a try.

The food here is "okay". The peanut sauce is very peanut buttery..... Which I do not prefer, personally. I ordered the Pad Thai. It was mediocre. I ordered it with medium spice. I had to add my own spice and it tasted less then mild. The service was great. They are very attentive. Good prices as well. It's a nice little place to try, but I have certainly had better Thai food. (side note: the pictures of the food on the menu do not match up with the titles.... so pay attention and don't go by the pictures)

I got the pad thai and it was really good,a little spicy but still tasted great and a big portion for the price aye half and had some left over for later. I also got the lobster balls and they weren't good at all,it tasted more like imitation crab and had a rubbery texture and lastly I order the mango sticky rice which was so good, they give you a lot of coconut sauce which other dont, great flavor and the mango was really good,I definitely am going to go back and try some other stuff

If you want fresh tasting food at great prices coupled with amazing hospitality; go to Thai Chili Jam. There are so many Thai places in Portland, and many to choose from downtown; I've been to practically all of them, and the experience at Thai Chili Jam keeps me coming back. Just be careful if you order it hot; it's authentic spicy, not American crybaby-spicy.

My partner and I were regulars at this place when we lived in downtown Portland. We miss it so! The service is friendly, prompt, and makes you feel like family in no time. They were on my speed dial for quick lunch and dinner pickups, and I brought all my friends here whenever I got the chance. Everything on their menu is bound to put a smile on your face, so enjoy!

The won-ton soup was luscious, as were the salad rolls. The service was friendly and efficient. The rest room was clean. My friend was satisfied, too. I'll be coming back again! And for a fraction of the price of the other places around here. This place is a little gem!

I'm a fan of this place because the service is fast (& friendly), and the food is pretty good, especially if you're craving Thai. They're not cheap, but not expensive either. I've become accustomed to Thai Food (which tends to be on the $10+ per plate price range). Also, a plus for the dog-owners: they have outdoor seating, so you can bring your dogs and enjoy the view of passing buses and PSU students. It's a little far from mainstream downtown (if you don't drive), so I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but I'd definitely stop in for another bowl of crab Pad Thai (yes, they have it, and it's delicious).

I've been here a couple of times. The first time was ok. Tried it again for a mid afternoon late lunch early dinner. Absolutely the worst Thai food I've ever had. And the worst meal out in many years. Not one item was even remotely good. The broth from the Tom Ka soup is what they also use for the soupy Panang Curry. All meats were dry, tough, and questionable. Just a sorry excuse for throwing away your money and getting indigestion.

My favorite thai restaurant in Portland :) Bonus points for the fact that the staff is super friendly and welcoming.

I don't really remember much about this place because I was so busy wiping off sweat from my face. I think I used every single napkin on my table to control my excessive sweating from eating their Pad Thai. Damn. F'ing hot. I think each of my taste buds went into super saiyan mode; fire around each one of them shooting off energy shots. If you go, bring a fire extinguisher. If you forget one then just order mild, extra mild.

Good basic Thai food. I haven't tried very much of the menu, but what I have had was good. I like the N11, which is how I remember it, can't remember the actual name. The spiciness is very hot, so please order medium or lower unless you like it really hot! Service is fast and friendly. Wait staff is attentive.

I know this place for its "to go" service because that is how I have enjoyed it. It seems to be a pleasant environment if you are dining out. The top three things about this place: (1) Curry/sauces, (2) Vegetable variety tasting so fresh and cooked just right, (3) Customer service has been incredibly kind. This a family-owned business and it seems that the team takes a lot of pride (charmingly) in their restaurant. As for the juicy part~ These dishes I have come to LOVE: C8 Pumpkin Curry - I especially enjoy having it with scallops. They are small scallops, but they cooked so well to effect of tenderness and creamy delight. The star ingredient (squash) is wonderful. I cherish the combination of spicy and slightly sweet in this dish. P10 Pad Eggplant - (I am not even a lover of regular eggplants, but this eggplant is more of a Japanese eggplant type which has a greater sweetness to it. If you enjoy yams/sweet potatoes, I bet you will enjoy this :) C3 Green Curry - Also especially great with scallops! ***Great vegetable dish - ask for Mango Stir Fry - "no meat/protein" It is wonderful to have their generous serving sizes, too. A nearby Asian cuisine restaurant (Tasting East) sells food at a similar price for about half the food. It is nice to have Jam's creations for leftovers :) MMmm Mmmm yeaah!

This restaurant was recommended from one of the friends in our travelling group of 10. Overall, i do not think i plan to revisit. Starter. I ordered a small wonton soup. The serving for this "small" size was definitely very generous. It was nice, but slightly over-salted for my taste. Food/Entree. I figured to order what this place was named after. So i ordered the Thai Chili Jam Specialty Curry (with chicken). Turned out it was just okay. Honestly, it seemed nothing more extravagant than the red curry i would order at some of my usual DC/VA locations. Service. The lady who served us was very friendly and sorta playful (in a flirty way). i certainly appreciated. If this was based on their service alone, i would individually rate it a 3.75 stars. In summary, i've had the opportunity to try a lot of thai restaurants (sadly, not Thailand just yet), I believe to have refined palette for thai cuisine. I do not see myself visiting this place again for it was just alright.

This place has some of the best curries I have ever had! The red pineapple curry is just bursting with all sorts of flavors! The rice is impressive, and the menu choices are great. The service takes a while during the lunch hour, but it's because $7 isn't a bad lunch special! Dinner time is a little spendy for the same thing but worth it if you're craving some delicious food.

Not the best Thai food I have ever had but they have all of the options you could want, are very friendly and the service has almost always been spot on. No complaints. I have been here many times as I used to frequent this area often. Regarding the earlier notes on the area: The area itself appears a bit dodgy (there is a shelter half a block down and there tends to be a lot of people mulling around) but I have never heard of any criminal activity and they are not aggressive or anything like that.

There are so many Thai places to eat in Portland right? But I like this one because of the very friendly service. The full bar makes me happy as well

I am a fan of this place. It's quick and delicious. The staff is so friendly and will get you anything you need. I often just order to go since I want to eat at home and of course that doesn't diminish the quality of food at all. I call in, make the order and then leave the pearl and by the time I get there, it's ready to go. If you're dining in, the service is just as fast but more interaction of course. I will continue to return here, of course.

Nice full menu, plenty of vegetarian options. My only real complaint was the service was pretty slow. This may have been because we sat around a corner where we were out of sight, making us pretty forgettable overall. I'm guessing if we hadn't sat there, it'd have been speedier--and not to discredit the service itself, which was friendly and well done. I had a squid salad dish which felt like it was colder than it should have been... but it was my first time having something like that, so I don't really know. It's nice seeing a Thai place that isn't a food cart though, I have to say that.

As you might be able to tell from my previous reviews, I love thai food, and most Thai places have to be pretty decent to stay in business amongst the sea of local competition, so I had high hopes going into it. That being said, despite the service (which was friendly, generally speedy, & without complaint), I was wholly disappointed with the quality of the food! Dishes tried: * The appetizer sampler (can't go wrong with trying 5 different appetizers, right?? WRONG: The fried tofu was WET when bitten, the fried egg rolls were somewhat bland & tasted like they came out of a bag from costco, the salad rolls were big but again lacking flavor and mostly full of sub-par grated iceburg lettuce * The BBQ chicken (a "house special" dish) had TWO drumsticks and TWO thighs....I was expecting like...half a chicken or at least a breast or two for $11! It did taste fresh, but over-marinated with a teriyaki/soy saltiness that crossed the line (it was ok, but would have been a lot better with 25%) * The pad thai had a glassy air-dried top indicative of waiting on the plate for several minutes; too thick and sweet overall * The beef salad was actually decent: tasty slices of zesty beef with citrus flavored sauce, (too) large cucumber slices, tomatoes, & onions Maybe I caught the cook on a bad night, maybe he was sick & there was a backup...but there were only a couple other people there, so it's not like they were too busy to produce quality. The cordial & attentive older gentleman waiter & thai waitress are really the only things keeping this from a 1 star. Perhaps I'll try this place once more time if in a pinch, due to the other positive reviews I've seen, but probably not anytime soon?

Right next to my house, this is our go-to take out place when we're feeling lazy and wanting some good thai food! We've tried quite a bit on the menu and it's always solid! Thumbs up!

This awesome little thai place is in my neighborhood, which I love! Yay for walking to Thai. Plus, their portions are much larger than say, Thai Peacock, another thai restaurant I like. Their green curry is delish. Lots of coconut flavor and fresh veggies. Egg rolls are perfectly fried and hot and moist. Drunken noodles, I could eat those all day. Yummmmmy food and the service is very friendly. The owner, i think, is the main waitress and she is polite and a wonderful host.

Tripped over 7 panhandlers, dodged 3 syringes and took my spot outside for the parade of fools that pass by the best restaurant to rise above it's poor location. There should be an award for that. Or a Gordon Ramsey show..something. Ok, so if you have had the wings at Pok Pok, order menu item number H2 at Thai Chili Jam and report back. Is it just me, or do we have a throw down in the works? Go once, they'll remember your name the next time. And there will be a next time, believe me. Great portions, average price, superb service and some damn good Thai. Enjoy the Parade while you wait for your carry out.

I LOVE THAI CHILI JAM!! I see this place is getting some mixed reviews but I need to say, Thai Chili Jam is my favorite Thai restaurant in Portland, hands down. And I eat Thai food, let me tell you. As for Thai food, here is how I choose my favorite places: I like a nice curry that isn't runny, but not a gravy by any means. I like my portions to be sizable. I expect a healthy-sized bowl or boat of curry. And I expect a heaping mound of any rice, veggie, or noodle dish. I want leftovers people. I want my Thai food prices to be cheap. I don't like those gourmet Thai places with the $14 curry and the dainty salad roll cut in half as an app. Give me a hole-in-the-wall, family-owned Thai place any day. I like quick, friendly service. And I like to substitute out veggies I don't like. Thai Chili Jam is all that and more. The staff is so nice. I have never noticed them to be slow. I get take out here all the time and it's like a 5 minute wait when I call in. Portions are big, prices are right. And I know this is random, but I like that our server asked if egg was OK in our noodle dish. (Like she wanted to make sure we weren't allergic or vegan.) That is nice! Give Thai Chili Jam a try! They are in the Entertainment book I think and they do Groupon/Living Social too.

I was pleasantly surprised with the food! I ordered the pad kee mao with chicken and the pad woon sen with shrimp. Both were excellent dishes and had a good amount of meat and veggies. I ordered it with very light oil, the medium spice is more like mild however the dishes were still tasty. Plus, the portion size was huge and well priced.

I wanted to score it higher. I desperately wanted to give it four stars, but alas, I cannot. And it saddens me. I used to eat here practically every day for lunch. Actually, several of us from my office did. Since we moved, it hasn't been as frequent, so I was excited to grab some grub while I was in the area. First, I went in on a Friday night and the place was jam packed. Meaning packed to the point of one of the diners (who may work there or be used to the chaos) grabbed a pitcher of water and pad and took orders of waiting customers. The staff was super apologetic about the long wait I endured and offered to give me a beverage for free. I declined. It was part my bad for not calling Got the pineapple fried rice which which was delicious and satisfying. Now, for the bad, I went back for lunch and ordered take out again. The Pad See Ew, medium spice (which I love). Chatted with staff, got my food promptly. Extra love. Got back home and began to eat. Disappointment! There was no medium. Heck, there was no mild. It was like the food was cooked, but flavor was left out. Truly sad face. Big time. And they've started to put in some sort of salad like concoction to take up space in the box. Harumph!
