My rating is fully relative to dollar sushi. Good selection, pretty presentations. Some of the plates held dishes a little warmer than I liked and it was a tad unappetizing (so don't pick salads, for example). The hostess was very doting and genuinely kind. My boyfriend loved the place, couldn't get enough of it.

Love this place. $1 sushi, friendly staff, clean.... what more can you want?
(4)Naran T.
Ive never eaten here nor have i even herd of this place. But seeing Mr. Miyagi's pic and seeing the potential a** kicking skills this man posses, automatically warrants a five star Yelp rating.
(5)Courtney K.
Pretty good sushi, good variety during lunch time. $1 plates and there menu is great price too, which is really good. Service isn't the best, but it's fine. I like!

This place is fairly close to where we live, so we decided to try it out. They were so nice to us with our little one the first time around, that we keep coming back. There seem to be a lot of regulars which are warmly greeted. It's nice to see them appreciate their patrons. Although it's mostly dollar plate sushi, it's pretty decent. There is more variety during dinner time, but they are always happy to make any special requests. I'm not personally a fan of having a big TV playing with not my favorite things playing on said TV, but everyone else seems to stare at it while shoving their faces full of endless plates of sushi. There is ample parking available and they accept cards. Not the prettiest part of town or high end clientele, but it's cheap sushi. Can't beat the price. I will go back somewhere over and over strictly on customer service.

2.24.2014 I find myself eating here more than I thought I would. They still have $1.00 Off the Belt Sushi and that is what keeps them coming back! The service can be spotty but you need to keep your overhead low if you want to make money selling $1.00 sushi. Momma is always happy to see repeat customers and gets to know you just like your Mother From Another Mother. I think the draw for me is, I eat a lot of fish! I eat like a seal here and don't go broke. Papa is always impressed by how many plates I have. I'm not getting my picture on the wall any time soon but I do fine.
(3)Ramana R.
The hours are wrong, this place is not open until 10pm... So I've never actually been here because they were closed at 8:55pm on Friday night

Fun. Nice couple owns the place, Dinner time is the best! Warm service. Delicious conveyor sushi. We live way out in LO It's worth the trip.
(4)Keely N.
The owner is super sweet but the food sucks. The pieces are small which makes it cheap.
(2)Thlel Yan D.
Yuck. I went here after the pho restaurant next door turned out to be closed one day. Is there a rule somewhere that sushi boat restaurants must be gross? Everything had no flavor, felt dirty inside, and the waitress was giving another patron a back rub at the sushi bar! Talk about ewwww.....
(1)Bubba Y.
Ummm... a friend had mentioned this place and one night when it was too warm out to cook, we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a waste of time. There was barely any variety and what there was was tasteless. Something possibly resembling a California roll, Krab on rice, egg on rice... those were the big offerings. The egg rolls tasted like they were born frozen, then deep - fried in old oil. There was more but it was to be ignored. You gotta believe that any place that makes Marinopolis seem "high - end" has issues. Honestly, the best thing for us was the water feature in the parking lot outside of this place. 'Nuff said.
(1)Jeff M.
Atmosphere was good quiet very mom and pop. Food was very good. Selection was limited but still fresh. Prices are great $1.00-1.50 a play on the carousel. Will be going back.
(3)Lou Lou B.
This is my favorite restaurant. I love conveyor belt sushi. When super size sushi closed down I was pretty down about it, but then I found this place. The family that owns it is so ridiculously nice. They are nice in that way that almost makes you sad or you want to buy them presents. I'm worried this review sounds like a joke-IT IS NOT! They play movies like Braveheart and The Fast and the Furious and it's awesome because it is all movies you have already seen so you can just watch a little bit while you eat and then leave and be chill about it. I just got yelp so I could give them a review. I'm on my way there now. (I'm not texting and driving though- don't worry) I LOVE YOU SUSHI SUSHI! NEVER CHANGE!
(5)Shellie Z.
Good price. Zero variety and hardly any choices. The place seems unorganized and a little dirty. Cheap....you get what you pay for!
(2)Amy F.
It's a dollar a plate! Yeah, so it's not the best sushi in town, but when I want something quick and cheap this is my swimming whole. The best call is to be patient and wait for the sushi to come right out from the kitchen. I don't really go for spring rolls because it only takes one cold one to ruin it. However, I do go for the calamari that comes out hot, (ask for spicy mayo to dip it in), the salmon is great, and the deep-fried rolls when they are hot. I also like the bowl of cucumbers that you can get. There is a roll with canned tuna in it however, I learned while in Japan that since tuna is loved so much, its not uncommon to even have canned tuna. Sometimes they are busy and you have to wait a minute for a seat or to pay the bill but then the food is also fresher. It's worth a try.
(3)Sophie A.
Because each plate is a dollar, and because the Korean owners are so sweet.. Can get busy during prime restaurant times. But is a stomping ground for the broke sushi lovers crew. Get that orange sauce!! (Aka chipotle mayo) not the greatest quality, I'll admit.. But they're a dollar a plate! Plus they're always playing conversation starting shows on the tv :)
(4)Sean L.
I tried several times to give this place a chance. Each time I get more disappointed. The only good thing is the calamari, but even for a 1.00 it's a small portion. I see mostly canned mandarin oranges on the conveyor belt, sad. The owners wife is nice, but the owner is always walking around looking pissed off and I get the feeling that he resents the customers in that area more than he likes them. Good idea for 1.00 sushi, but not at this place.
(1)Lola O.
All the sushi is $1.00 but you only get 2-3 tiny rolls per plate. The quality isn't very good. It's more of a 'meh' taste and texture. Never very busy and the owner is super nice. The place is very neat and clean. It's more of a place to run in for a quick snack. Don't come in with high expectations. It's more of the "McDonald's" of sushi. Not good but not awful either.
(2)Emma B.
For $1.00 a plate you can get disgusting food. The asparagus roll was nasty; old asparagus, too much cream cheese and soggy. The goyza were cold and soggy too. The mini egg rolls were greasy and cold. They keep their 'hot' food piled up on top of each other under a single hot lamp. Just freaking nasty. I would avoid this dank smelling cramps place and scoot next door for some really good Pho
(1)Alex R.
Must admit I went for the price , a dollar a plate for the basics of the sushi conveyer type, I admit not much variety and Gresham crowd that attends is worth it. When I run errands , it's my place to stop in.
(4)James A.
I have never left disappointed. The owners are vary friendly and care about what they do. I live on the coast but try to make this my lunch spot when in town.
(4)Tracy H.
Like another poster wrote, can't beat a dollar sushi plate. Pretty basic sushi, a-ok size, some plates are great, some are so-so. A little bit concerned b/c some plates with the raw fish were kind of warm. But I ended up eating some of them and am really ok-healthy. The place was decent, clean, the service was good and efficient. Nice, friendly servers. No waiting time like Sushi land, which was amazing. My kid definitely loved it. He enjoyed the dessert and ate 3 plates of them. :) And the chicken katsu plate was one of his fave since the kiddo is still new to the world of sushi, he def. liked the fried stuffs (they did sneak in some crunch rolls on the plates). He loved the server too, she gave him a balloon. We definitely will be going back when we passed by the neighborhood next time.
(3)Rachel G.
Aww, kinda makes me sad to see so many people hatin' on this place. I think the problem is that you have to go during prime time in order to get their best food and selection. I have never eaten lunch here, but I go for dinner, and I will say, get there by 6:30ish or forget about it. They stop doing the track at 8pm, and the closer it gets to 8, the less stuff they put out, eventually stopping all together and letting the same couple of plates go around for the last hour. HOWEVER. If you get there at 6 or so, the track is full of plenty of tasty options, with more being made every few minutes! Be thoughtful in what you select; sure, they put out plenty of 'filler' type stuff such as edamame, spring rolls, california rolls, etc...but they put out plenty of special rolls and good nigiri, too! Just two nights ago, I ate there and the chef was doing tako nigiri and another special roll that was filled with spicy tuna, then topped with eel and fish roe and a sauce. Really good. They also do a creamy baked mussel topped with (I think) yuzu and roe, which they almost always have during prime dinner hours. Don't forget you can make requests, too! Look in their fish case, see what they have, and ask for something. The people that run this joint are super nice. I've always had great service. I've never ordered off the menu, but I've sat next to people that did, and what they got looked AWESOME--appeared much more 'expensive' than you would think given the prices. Overall, for $1.00 a plate, I think this place delivers. Sure, there are better places, but you will also pay a lot more! Sushi & Sushi is very serviceable and the price is unbeatable. The atmosphere is also great and very chill. It doesn't feel very "82nd-y" (I say this as someone who lives on 84th. No judgements, just real talk. Plenty of great food on 82nd, but few places can boast a cool atmosphere around here).
(4)Alisa G.
Yuck. Don't bother. If you're looking for cheap carousel sushi, do yourself a huge favor and go up 82nd a couple of blocks to O Sushi. For what amounts to a few cents more, you'll get great service, fresh fish, and a clean environment. This place, on the other hand, was almost a satire of what carousel sushi places are. There was a large TV screen that only the chef could see, so he sat with his back to the customers, watching tv. Yet he had the volume up high and the sound piped through the speakers in the whole place. The Asian customer sitting near me at the bar was treated like a long-lost relative, but me, the middle aged white lady was treated like, well, nothing actually. I was invisible. The fish was sad and looked like it had taken a few too many spins on the carousel. Aside from the wasabi, it was flavorless. When I finally caught someone's attention to pay, that got passed off not once but twice to someone else. I never got a check. The woman just told me "7.50." I followed her up to the register to pay, and then she asked me how much I owed. Huh? Maybe this is one of those avant garde restaurants where you get to decide and pay what you think the meal was worth. If that's the case, here's a buck.

DEFINITELY gonna show this place some love after my very enjoyable first visit today. Heard about this place from a friend a few times, kept trying to get me to go have "dollar sushi" during a time where I was still very turned-off by the LAST sushi experience....thinking about a year ago....??? So "Dollar Sushi"......"82nd and Foster".....doesn't sound so hot, right? I'll be honest: I expected something scuzzy, with bad lighting, and mainly expecting to play it safe, and get a few cucumber rolls, hot tea, and maybe some some blah miso soup that had been sitting around forever (thinking it's fermented so what the heck, right?). I was shocked to walk in and find the place was actually really warm and quaint! Nice ambiance. Not a huge place with neon office lights and other diners staring straight back at you, and muzak easy-listening playing!!! Yes, there was a TV as one yelper mentioned, but somehow it just added to the homey relaxed, family atmosphere. It wasn't loud. The older gentleman behind the counter seemed stern at first, actually turned out to be very kind and gracious. We both ordered miso, and he brought it a few minutes later from the kitchen. Hot, fresh, and delicious with bright green crispy chives. Not too many; it was perfect! Was it possible this place was just having a good day?? I know for a fact I wasn't starving, so that wasn't it. But honestly, everything was really good!! Usually when I have sushi (Mall 205 area, and Broadway---not mentioning names), I always leave thinking, "I'm not doing THAT again for awhile!" and feeling a bit grossed out. Not today! Actually wanting to go back really soon! All plates on the belt are $1. This means that plates contain either 2 or 3 pieces. To me, this is better than a plate that cost 1.75 and contains 4 pieces. If you ask me, it's a better deal! Plus, you get to try more varieties. It looked and tasted delicious!!! The only thing was that they did not have the low-sodium soy sauce out. I didn't ask for it because I was so caught up in the pleasant surprise of the experience!! I'll check next time. Unlike the other two places I've gone for sushi (w/ the conveyor belts), this place was clean! The counter was not sticky, no dirty finger prints on the soy sauce/ginger/wasabi bottles. The bathroom was not dirty. Not like that one place in particular not mentioning any names (205!). -----Looking forward to my next visit for sure! :-)

I have been to this place many times and gotten a great amount of sushi for very little money. I've always loved the sushi, nothing ever "off." It's not fancy, it's not a chain, food is good, service is pretty good, the owners are always working and they are very nice, especially the wife, she remembers regulars and asks about the family. Best time to go is at lunch or dinner time, for more selection.

when i first discovered this gem of a place a few years ago, i would have given it a 5 star rating- the staff was fun and chatty, the chef was always sharing new creations and we always had great choices of $1 sushi. but now, what once used to be a weekly lunch spot is now every once and awhile- and soon to be a NEVER. even during the lunch rush there are never good options for sushi- its mostly cupcakes, eggrolls and fried chicken pieces. WHERES THE FISH??? the staff seems overworked and crabby most of the time. the atmosphere has totally changed- even the mediocre cleanliness, that i once overlooked due to the satisfaction of food and smiles, is now questionable. do i dare eat here? ill miss you Sushi Sushi.

I've discovered that the purpose of sushi is to shove as much food into your mouth as possible without dying a slow, humiliating, choking death as some stranger who's on his fortieth plate unsuccessfully gives a gander at the heimlich maneuver. That sentence was about as long as the amount of food you are challenged to stuff betwixt your not-so-chipmunky cheeks. Some people might argue this, but I have a small mouth. Just because my head is full of air doesn't mean I can fit a piece of sushi the size of a four week old kitten into my mouth... I've tried. Both. Every time I've tried stuffing the whole piece into my mouth, my throat clenches shut to avoid small pieces of rice from sailing down my trachea (that'd be the wrong tunnel, for those who are anatomically challenged); i can feel my cheeks strecthing beyond human capability as they poof out like a balloon; my eyes bulge further out of my head with each attempted bite. It's bad when there's too much in there to even chew... You all know... This is one of the risks you have to take while dining in front of a sushi track (train or sushi tram or sled-pulled sushi, whichever you prefer). You see something that looks good, that calls your name, then you look to the right. Bubba, two chairs down, is making little pinching gestures in the air with his chopsticks, eyeing YOUR next sushi victim. And you still have two pieces left on the plate in front of you. What else is there to do? Cram that damned roll right down your throat and go for the gold. This is what I did for lunch today. I'll say right up front that i don't eat meat. No sir, not even fish. Nothing with eyeballs or a brain or a heartbeat for me, thanks. But I do love to watch the sushi go by me on the track while I wait for the few vegan options to sacrifice themselves to me (I know, I know, the tofu has feelings too. Cram it). Sushi is in and of itself an art form. One of the more simplistic and raw (no pun intended) of food masterpieces. If I were ever captured by cannibals and prepared as the main course, I'd hope they display me in a sushi-like fashion. So I gobbled down my cucumber salad while contently eyeing the track. I don't even like cucumber. At all. But that cucumber salad was amaaaaazing. They also had yummy sweet fried bean curd balls with sesame coating, edamame bowls, and raw seaweed salad rolls. If you're not in the mood for sushi, they have an extensive list of various tempura, noodle, and combination meals as well. I read some pretty disappointing reviews of this place by fellow Yeeps. I have to say this: quit your bitching. If you want top quality sushi, go pay $10 for a roll at many of Portland's other establishments. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, these plates are a buck each. A buck. Really, what do you expect? I've never had the fish. But I've gone with several other people who really just wanted some affordable sushi and didn't have more than ten dollars to spend, and you know what? Everyone of them has gone back for more, made all sorts of satisfied sounds while gobbling down sushi, and no one has gotten ill from the food. I'm just sayin'... "It's on 82nd Avenue. What do you expect?" Well I guess what I expect is for people with that attitude to take it back to the suburbs. The woman who owns this restaurant works twelve hour days, almost every day. The chefs make beautiful pieces out of what they have to work with. And when you walk in the door, the whole staff give you a welcoming hello. Plus, there's a candy dish by the cash register. A-OK.
(3)Greg S.
I love this place because it is what it is, and it does what it does well. If you are expecting amazing sushi and perfect service here, you will have your heart broken. If you come here expecting cheap but OK sushi, you are about to have your world rocked. This place is a staple post-workout meal for me-- a dollar a plate is just about equivalent to all you can eat. This is basically Portland's sushi version of Old Country Buffet. Depending on the day, selection can be pretty limited. There are times where I eat 10 plates of salmon or California rolls (which isn't really a downside to me). Bottom line: If you want cheap sushi, come here. If you want great sushi, go somewhere else and save the negative reviews about the quality of your dollar a plate meal.
(4)Krystal S.
So after checking out the reviews today we decided to go in at our own risk. The pros: Everything on the conveyor belt is really only a dollar, no matter what it is. The selection wasn't that great though. You can order specialty rolls but they are around 7 bucks. You can also get yakisoba, which I ordered some of and it was nothing to write home about. And I asked for some sriracha sauce and the cook stood there and watched me put it on my food and wanted it back, so I asked her if she had a little plastic cup, because I like to spice my food as I go. She seemed really annoyed with me lol. Our waters never got refilled, but the hostess was still nice nonetheless. The really bad part came a couple of hours later--in my bathroom. That stuff did a number on my stomach, and it makes me sick just thinking about it now. So, I would recommend not going here.
(1)Ron S.
This place was near my house so I decided to check it out, plus I was getting tired of Sushiland. I'm usually a patient person but this place irks me. First impressions: Keep in mind that the place was nearly empty when I walked in. I wasn't greeted (not that I care but you get the point) so I had to seat myself while feeling awkward. I wasn't asked if I wanted anything to drink, even after making eye contact several times with the rude waitress. I do not like complaining about service because I understand that I am getting what I pay for, plus it is not easy running a restaurant. I consumed about 10 plates of sushi since the servings were tiny. I wasn't even full. I have to admit that the food was decent, though. Pros: Cheap food. Cold water once you ask for it. The waitress became nice as soon as I gave her my money. Decent selection. Cons: Read Above. They have fried chicken patties with sticky rice on the side. I'm sticking to Sushiland.
(2)Tanaz P.
Howdy cheap n easy! On the avenue of roses it's easy to find cheap stuff...and just as likely it will be easy. The rarity is find both & having them be good. Sushi Sushi has ::gasp:: conveyor sushi. It's a $1 a plate. You've gotta be quick to get the stuff without krab. They pump it out in record time. I had one of the salmon rolls and it was pretty good. I also managed to catch some tuna. There are other odd assortments like mini cinnamon rolls. Odd, but for a $1 who cares. It took awhile to pay and get outa there, but again for $8 I won't complain.
(3)Emelie G.
Spent 7 bucks, went away full. Not the greatest sushi ever but they have some pretty good rolls. For a buck a plate, you can't go wrong. Open till 11!
(4)Jenny R.
You really cannot go wrong at 1.00 a plate. I actually feel the salmon here is better than some that I have paid 4 times as much for at other places. I mostly eat the sashimi here and avoid the fried stuff that is often cold. I was coming here on a bi-weekly basis for a while, but had to withdrawal because I realized I had developed an addiction. This place definitely has the family owned vibe in every way. The owners are always there. I don't think they ever get time off other than the Sunday they are closed. They always remember me and know what I like. I am usually handed 3 plates of salmon by the owner the minute I sit down. There are some negatives such as it can take a while for someone to come to the register when you are ready to leave. I also think that things are left on the conveyer longer than they should be(not sure they even have a system in place to monitor this). But hey, for a dollar a plate, I am willing to wait to pay and I also know to select plates that I have seen come out fresh. So I am quite happy with Sushi Sushi and I will continue to frequent.
(4)Jenn S.
It was decent sushi for a buck. The service wasn't so great but for 12 bucks I left full of decent sushi, miso and a hand roll.
(3)Nate P.
For the price, he'll yeah. Good eats at a dollar a plate can not complain. Fried Calamari is the best.
(4)Irina D.
Uggh I so badly want to like this place, its close to our house, its cheap, its sushi. I was debating between 1 or 2 stars, and went with to simply because the food is really not that bad. During the busy time, they have an ok variety (maybe 5 or 6 different food choices). But the food will rotate all day, I've seen some of the fish have dried edges, dirt on it, I've seen the staff take the plates off, flip the fish around on the rice, so it looked better, and put it back on the conveyor, etc etc...so be careful when you pick your plate. When you walk in, the staff only greets you 1/8 of the time, most of the time, they act like you are a bother. Today we sat for 10 minutes before anyone came up to us and offered us a drink (mind you there were only 5 people in the whole place), the waiter looked like he just woke up when he finally did emerged. We've been there a few times, only because of the convenience, I wouldn't recommend this place though.
(2)Marla H.
You get what you pay for. While most the sushi here I have had is good, to get the basic it could take a while to get it. I prefer the simple california roll. It is a real hit and miss whether it will be on the belt. The service is spotty. While Mr Sushi is ALWAYS very kind and polite the head waitress, I think Mr Sushi wife is slow to serve. I have stood at the register for a few minutes in front of her 1st in line while she has finished what stuff that doesnt appear to be rush rush first. I have never had my water refilled with out asking first. Sushi Sushi was my first ever sushi experience and I thought it was great, now that I have branched out and receieved some well priced sushi with great service, after last night I will not be returning. So while it isnt bad, it isnt great either. Cheap and you get what you pay for...
(2)Jeremiah F.
You really can't beat dollar sushi plates. You pay a dollar and you get a dollars worth of sushi. Pretty basic there. Go during the dinner and lunch hours to ensure that the sushi is fresh...I have noticed that the plates don't have a rfid chip on the bottom of them to signal when the time to pull them from the conveyor. That's a little sketchy.. They have a lot of dessert plates on the conveyor...that's cool for the kids that might tag along with their parents but not for someone looking for protein. It always tastes great..they have the classic spicy tuna mayo based sauce. They even have teriyaki sauce aswell. They are always friendly when you walk in..if I could understand what they yell when you walk in the door, I'd be yellin it back. :) Its cheap..its good...its friendly...its in Lents!
(4)Diana N.
My family and I have always hesitated to try but we finally did today and we'll be coming back for more! We were pleasantly surprised by the decent amount of food as it was all $1. The quality of the raw fish was fresh and the special rolls were delicious. The staff was friendly although I did get annoyed that they weren't paying attention to taking drink orders and refilling cups. The place is clean and had a nice quiet atmosphere. They do charge $1 for hot green tea which I think is reasonable. As long as they keep up the good quality food, we'll definitely come here from now on instead of other sushi train places that take so long to get a seat.
(4)Simon T.
When you want to get some raw fish over rice on the cheap, it's decent place to go. Hey, it's better than the much-overrated Saburo's! This is definitely a neighborhood spot, the staff welcomes everyone in like they are family (and you'll see that it's mainly regulars in here who are called by name). Stick to busy hours like lunch or dinner time for a larger variety, plus you won't need to worry about sushi that's been sitting on the track for a few hours. The food stuff itself is ok, pretty much in line with the pricing. As far as actual fish, the best quality items are the fatty salmon (orange looking one with white stripes) and the tuna (red color). Normally, I love hamachi (yellow fin tuna), but sadly I don't eat any here because it isn't quite up to par. The other basics - california rolls, tempura, etc. are pretty decent. The fried calamari is excellent.
(3)Lily H.
It's conveyer belt sushi for $1/plate. All day, everyday. Hear that, people? $1. You get what you pay for....and guess what, it ain't so bad! The pieces are smaller but you are also paying less so it makes sense. The sushi is freshest if you go smack during dinner time or on a weekend when it's busiest. I probably wouldn't go here after 7:30 or 8pm because they don't seem to make a lot of new stuff after that time. The place is all right and there's always a place to sit. There are two flatscreens that are always showing something random every time I'm there...sports, movies from the 90s on A&E, Dancing with the Stars... The couple who own the place work hard and are super friendly, as are the chefs. If you're in the area and have a mad craving for sushi but are feeling a little cheap, give it a try.
(3)Walter S.
$1.00 a plate, train sushi, incredibly sweet staff. Done. If you go here expecting to be wowed, you're going to be disappointed. But if you want a regular spot to go gorge on ok sushi and have the staff give a shit if you have a good meal, then this is your spot. It is what it is.
(4)Tessa Y.
We went here the other day for the first time and it was fantastic! Being a vegetarian, there were lots of choices to choose from! I always love the asparagus rolls and they had the green onion pancakes. Stuffed 3 of us for a whopping $19! WOO HOO! We will be back!
(4)Jay W.
This was probably the worst meal of my life. I went in for lunch thinking I'd get some miso soup and order a couple veggie rolls while snacking on whatever was on the train. It was a bust to say the least. I really only saw dessert items and cold, soggy fried foods circulating as another reviewer said. They were very unresponsive to me ordering a custom roll so I ate some freezing cold gyoza thing, the soggiest fried tofu I have ever had, and a mystery roll. Then I left.
(1)raevyn C.
I love this place! The sushi is good, if not fantastic. I've never been disappointed. It's quite affordable and the service is awesome. The owner is wonderful and always remembers me and my hatred of cucumber. I love it and will go back again and again!
(4)Matt H.
I'm an optimist. I like to think that Portland (and the whole world) is full of little gem, hole-in-the-wall joints waiting to be discovered. That belief often results in indigestion and unpleasant aftertastes. This sushi place opened recently next to Pho Vietnam and Big 5 at SE 82nd & Foster Road. "Sure, it looked like you could have had your taxes shoddily prepared there no more than 6 months ago, but maybe, just MAYBE, these folks are going to blow you away," I thought. Not the case. I elected to eat smoked eel because it was just being finished up by the chef when I sat at the bar. Knowing it's fresh made it seem safe. I'll consider myself lucky if I can keep the eel down long enough to digest it. Let's see....what else?:The help wasn't helpful. There was a TV loudly telling me about what happened in the stock market today. I enjoyed the miso, but it's hard to mess up miso. I could have got a packet of that at the Asian market a block away for $0.25. Send an enemy or a terminal pet to Sushi Sushi, send yourself to Kappaya.

I am never one to rave about track sushi. unless i get there right at opening, or have enough time to waste to make sure they are properly removing the old stuff, i generally steer clear. With that said, sushi sushi is a little gem in an otherwise really creepy parking lot on the corner of 82nd and foster (not your NW 23rd for sure!). As i said, track sushi isn't really for me, but their greatly priced and super yummy specialty rolls made up for a odd ambiance and an otherwise lacking menu. my absolute favorite was the spicy devil roll, which has spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, and avocado. Now, spicy tuna is my favorite of all favorite things to eat (aside from a good claussen pickle), and i have had many a disappointing experience with a gross yellow mayo that is neiither spicy nor appetizing. Sushi Sushi knows their spicy sauce, and it is actually spicy and really delicious. The eel roll was also really good, with eel and avo and a great bbq eel sweet sauce drizzled all over. I was so impressed by the sushi, and the track bar being completely full of people, that i even tried a *gasp* track plate. It was a simple tuna/avo/lettuce roll, and It was good, and it tasted fresh, and it was only a buck. The place itself is kinda strange, even though i was sitting at a real table, i still had to walk up to the checkout counter to pay my bill. There's lottery machines in there too, which i loathe the presence of in any place other than a sports bar (and only because they are expected there). My server was a cute older lady who seemed to know everyone in the joint. and everyone that came through the door. She even made fun of me for hitting the track after having my other fancy rolls. all in all, a great spot to go if you need to quench a sushi thirst in a no fuss environment. but if it was my birthday i'd want to go someplace else.

Every plate is a dollar, unless you special order something. Its a good deal, but there wasn't much of a selection. Food was ok, but don't think I would go back unless I somehow happened to be just in the area

It's a $1.00 plate. Really, it is what it is and although I could go anywhere else-- the cost of just having basic sushi is just perfect for my 4 year old son who eats $20.00 by himself at sushiland, sushiville and at O sushi in Seattle that was a $45.00 mistake. Sushi sushi--- perfect $1.00 plates for my hungry boy.

This food here was mediocre. I didn't expect much due to the fact that EVERYTHING off the conveyor belt is only $1. I went at about 1pm so the lunch "rush" was sort of winding down. I felt the need to watch the sushi chefs as they put the freshest food out to take my pick from the newest items. I was a little worried how long they may have been out? The Calamari was VERY GOOD though I have to say. Served hot and crispy. Left paying $7 for my lunch and was full. Therefor it was pretty good. (I don't know how they make any money?) The staff is very friendly and the green tea was hot, fresh, and strong. Just the way it should be...

Best bang for your buck! The owners are very nice, but some of their staff lack the motivation to do their job. Great food though I would suggest going at dinner time for more variety.

I went there for the $1.00 plates of sushi but was severely disappointed at their vegan selection. The only thing that came down the belt that was vegan was inari. It was good, but i wanted more. My girlfriend asked the chef if he could make an avocado roll or something else vegan and he told us if we requested anything we had to pay full price. Since we both really love avocado rolls, we reluctantly ordered a couple. After he made them, i noticed people around us special ordering rolls from other chefs and not being told they had to pay full price. The kicker was right as we were about to leave, we see some avocado rolls come down on the train. While the sushi was good, they definitely didn't cater to vegans very well.

The service was great, but I'd rather do Sushiville than this place. There wasn't a great selection on the sushi and it didn't taste fresh. Salmon sashimi felt warm in my mouth.

I like this place. Went there Saturday night it was slow no one there but us. That was ok Sonny paid alot of attention to our 7 year old teaching her how to use the chopstick. The spider roll was yummy. First time trying the Vegas roll and that was good too. Lastnight went again for their $1 special. Yes everything on the track was $1 and this time we took our two teenage daughters who love sushi too. I would suggest it to those on a budget.

can you say 'super korean' cause that's all I think when I get there. japchae and Korean sides rolling on the belt? this is obviously Korean owned, but that's cool too because I like just having sides sometimes without having to buy the big tubs of it at the grocery store. but in terms of sushi, its a no go for me.

this is a maki place. its strengths are in the fried foods but not in anything else. it is over salted and the desserts are even poorly made. this place is perfect for those without taste buds. and yes the staff is incredibly nice.

$1 plates all the time. Need I say more?

Cheap and good. You can't beat $1 a plate and they have a wide variety of dishes including desserts, fruit and won ton (though cold won ton isn't very good). My favorites are the salmon and California rolls. Owners and staff are always friendly and attentive and there's a relaxed atmosphere. You can get a bowl of miso, three dishes and get change back from 5 bucks. Though I went after 9pm one night (they're open until 10pm) and the selection was poor.

I WAS WOWED!! No more decisions based on what I can afford that day - just what looks and tastes good. I will be back again and again. Great food, great staff, and great price!

Very cute place...very Asian. Umm, Very Asian. The Sushi? Not so Asian. Well I go there often. I live near Mt.Scott and enjoy coming to a sushi track to just sit there and yank my next Sushi roll instead of ordering it. (you know, those 50 ft long windy automated tracks that circulate dishes of food that you pick up when it gets to you.) Fun, indeed, I like it. The quality of the sushi is poor. I don't know what it is. The chef is extremely nice and works hard but something about the sushi seems cheap. Very cheap. Perhaps it IS cheap. It's better than Mc.Craps nearby and when I want something quick I stop in. The service....Yes,,,not always present and sometimes I actually have to wait until the cashier feels like taking my credit card. .....not to mention finely receiving my drink....etc etc If they had quality sushi...they wouldn't have enough room for a crowd but hey, it's off of 82nd ave. Nuff said, yal Yep

i was skeptical about sushi for $1, but i'm a huge fan of train bar Ichiban Sushi across the river, so i figured i'd give it a shot. when i arrived i was the only one there (it was just post lunch break) and the conveyor belt was full which was suspect to me, because the conveyor belt can fit a LOT on it. how old was some of this stuff? i watched very closely as to what looked edible still, and it was only slightly obvious as to what was bad and what was almost-bad. not very tasty, and used too much cream cheese. PROS: awesome decor and atmosphere, lots of desert options on the conveyor belt, very friendly. Overall, I won't be going back and won't be recommending it to anyone else. I'd rather go to good ol' Ichiban.

$1 sushi all the time. the sushi itself is pretty meh--i mean, it is ONE DOLLAR--but i did not feel like i was putting my life in danger by consuming it. AND the people are amazing! the last time i was there the chef was just belting out johnny cash and i think the simpsons movie was on? the lady waitress is also one of the more spectacular people that i've encountered in portland.

A good alternative to Sushiland. It's a bargain, and the quality was fine. Not a tremendous amount of variety, but some decent rolls on the conveyor. It's a great place for a quick sushi lunch when you don't want to have to wait a long time (like at Sushiland) or spend a fortune. There are definitely fancier sushi places around but for a quick, cheap lunch, this is a good option. The main chef is very friendly and likes to pass us some of his specialties. Go there a few times and he'll treat you like an old friend.

I should have know better than to eat at sushi place on 82nd ave! I thought $1 sushi couldn't be that bad, but I was wrong. This was the worst sushi I have ever had. There wasn't much selection for the $1 conveyor belt plates. The tuna was salty and the krab mix was super fishy. Nothing seemed fresh and I was there at the beginning of the dinner hour. All i could stand was the ebi. I was too afraid to order a roll andhave to pay more for terrible food. The staff was nice and friendly but that didn't make up for anything. Please stay away and give your sushi business to those who can serve fresh fish. I recommend Yuki & Song (for special rolls) or the Hawthorne Fred Meyer (which has great $1.10 plates!)
