Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

The Don Caballero (pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, and onions) was just what the doctor ordered after a long day of traveling to Portland for a show at Moda Center. Not knowing PDX very well, we asked the front desk clerk at our hotel for a recommendation for A) great pizza that B) delivers late on a Monday to our downtown hotel, and C) won't break the bank. All three accomplished. And so delicious! We considered getting another for the road back home. We'll definitely get another Sizzle Pie when we come back.

Solid pizza in the downtown area in Portland. I flew into Portland late Thursday night and we were looking for places to grab food and Sizzle Pie was open (they're open late!). We ordered two pies - one cheese and one with jalapeno/pineapple. Since it would take a bit, we checked into our rental house and a couple of us walked down to pick it up. The waitress/cashier was really sweet and nice. She talked to us for a bit and gave us some recommendations as we told her we were from out of town. She gave us plates and threw in some Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper packets. When we got home, we devoured the pizza, which was pretty good. It's thin, but not thin-crust like, and there wasn't a lot of sauce. However, the cheese and dough didn't overpower the taste of the pizza or make it dry. Everything worked pretty well together and you can't go wrong with that. Overall, a solid find and definitely a great late night option for those who need it. They sell pizza by the slices too.

i am a sizzle pie fan having been to both burnside locations more than a few times. thought i would offer a shout-out based on my most recent experience at the west burnside place. my daughter joined me before we hit a movie at Living Room Theater. we ordered and sat down. the sun was strong and the folks sitting one table away tried to lower the blinds. in doing so they pulled the blinds from their mount, with the whole kit landing on our table, upsetting the moment with spilled beer and a general mess. lucky to find an unused table, we moved and continued. about 15 minutes later the manager came out with a gift card, explaining that the blinds had just been installed that morning. apologized for the trouble, and gave us a $40 card. great customer service. love it even more, now.

They wouldn't let me leave with s burnt pizza. I ordered a gluten free Buffalo 666 pizza to go. It was going to be a twenty minute wait so the cashier asked if that was okay and I said yes. Twenty minutes had came and I was still waiting. It was busy so I figured that was causing the extra wait. An employee came to me and asked if I was waiting for the buffalo pizza and apologized for the wait because they had burned the first one so the next one would be out shortly and she offered me a drink on the house. When the pizza was ready she thanked me for my patience. I'm appreciate that she came looking for me to tell me what was going on and offered me something while I waited. I've been to places where they serve burnt food and especially on carry outs since there is a chance you won't check before you go so I appreciate them doing the right thing!!

I ADORE this place ... It was open late which was great after a day of beer tasting . Pizza is a total go to for me . When I go to a new city I sometimes get overwhelmed trying to find a 'great spot' to eat ... Or the 5 star fancy dining ... Which never taste as good as I think it would ...so my fall back is pizza ... Find pizza and I'll be happy . Well we found pizza ...Great pizza and that pesto is life.. They give a variety of dipping sauces which is just a good time in it self . It's a great "let's just grab a pizza and be happy" spot

Love Sizzle Pie.... I love it when I'm drunk and I love it when I'm sober. One of my favorite pizza joints in Portland (if not my favorite!). None of all this gourmet pizza crap. If you want a tree hugger vegan meal or Gluten free then don't eat pizza. They have a ton of options but I feel they stay true to the pizza enthusiast. Thin crust, tomato sauce, and mozzarella as the main event with topics unlike other places where the topics are the main event.
(5)Jordan B.
I have been to Sizzle Pie many, many times during drunken searches for cheap, quick food. They have high quality pizza for cheap prices and are open until 3am!! This joint is right across the street from famous landmarks such as Powell's bookstore. It's central location makes it an efficient stop anytime of the day

Pizza. It is so yummy no matter what time it is or whether you've already had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner...three days in a row. That didn't happen to me, okay, it did but only when I was in college. Located on a very busy intersection of downtown Portland, it's a great place to people watch. On nice days, there is seating outside. There is a dining area with tables and window seating. The pizza crust is thin. The toppings go from traditional to foodie haven. The employees are colorful. The customers are even more colorful.
(4)Elysia M.
So this pizza place is just that, a pizza place. You walk in and they have some premade pizzas rating there for you that they just pop into the oven and warm up for you. What's cool is that they have both pizza slices of pizza cups. A slice is a lot larger than a cut and a cut is half the size of a slice. For this particular pizza sizzle joint they have a very small seating area and then line area for ordering pizza is kind of squished. So when we were actually waiting for a pizza we just waited outside but it was small enough so that you could still here inside. The whole place was kind of grungy but that's what it is and it's great pizza. But it's also super thin crust thin bread pizza. I'm a cheese pizza person and the cheese was great. The Hawaiian was pretty good too and that's all I tried at this location.
(3)Heather B.
Pretty awesome pizza I got the Diablo and the bad reputation vegan pizza slices and the rabbits salad ....Pizza was a tad thin but I ate 2 slices plus some salad and was pretty full by the end. You go to he register and order and pickup your food and bus your own tables .... So dont expect waiter service ... Plus it's across the street from powells ...which is awesome .... I could spend all day there then when you hungry just stroll on over to pizza yummy .... Check out there website for the menu .

They're rude every time and filled with the stupidest people in Portland. And the pizza is terrible. AND I'M NOT FROM NEW YORK.

There wasn't a line, so I made a bee-line in here for a late lunch in between appointments. I was particularly happy because I'd heard about how crowded Sizzle Pie is at times. Ordering was easy. The counter person was pleasant and showed me where to get everything I needed. I had a slice of Canadian Bacon and Pineapple pizza ("Six Degrees From Kevin Bacon" - clever and punny title) and a soda. I really like their amusing picture on the side of the building of pizza as the food pyramid. I found Sizzle Pie to be very clean. Seating was easy to find right near the front window overlooking Burnside and just across from Powell's Books. The music in the background was Neil Young from his "After The Gold Rush" era and it wasn't played too loud, so this was very pleasant because I have a forever crush on Mr. Young that dates back to high school. The pizza slice was very good and obviously made with quality ingredients and had a thin crust. I enjoyed it. If in the neighborhood and needed a quick lunch, I would definitely return. I think that I would like to order a whole pizza for delivery to see how it tastes fresh and possibly up the amount the amount of stars. While grabbing slices at different venues can make for a good quick lunch/dinner, I'm not always convinced that the slices get heated adequately all the way through and that I'm getting a true representation of any one venue's pizza. But no matter what, this is a good solid three-star AOK place to stop and have a slice and that you should definitely give it a try.
(3)Lydia B.
If it's noon and you need a slice or midnight Sizzle Pie is open. Usually good (loud) music and big windows for great people watching. Don't go here for a quiet conversation but seriously the pizza is everything you ever wanted from a pizza. With so many delicious vegan and vegetarian options and meat as well. I would recommend trying the siracha red sauce on their Hawaiian pizza if you are ordering a whole pie. The Gold Ring is delicious by the slice, so is South of Heaven. Great place for a slice and salad (7 dollars) and beer on tap! Some of greatest crust around, thin and airy like yummy clouds, if clouds were crunchy. So sit back and enjoy the beautiful tattooed crew and abundance of delicious pizzas of your choosing.
(5)Elle J.
Yes, walking in, the pie waiting to be heated and served can sometimes look as appealing as wearing a gentlemen's blouse on your first trip to the snow country. Which doesn't make very much sense, which is how I feel about how good the slices are when they come out all heated and yummy. It is like an ugly ducking getting a quick make over and meeting you at the dance. Anyway I love that they have a half slice option so that I can dig on a lot of different flavors and not commit all my pizza chomping to only a flavor two. Prices are pretty good and if you are a vegetarian you may find some real treats. I just tried a slice with BBQ and fake BBQ meat. It was beyond good. I could have taken a whole pizza home! The salad is what you would expect. They have a loyalty card so get it if you are in the area. Not every slice has been a winner but when they have been good they have been darn good. This is coming from someone who has been here sober.
(4)Tracy D.
This is the first Pizza place I've tried in Portland on my trip back home. I'd give this 3.5/stars solidly. Good NY style pizza, quick service, decent (acceptable) customer service. All in all it handled my need for a quick lunch, and had a solid selection of by the slice pizza.
(4)Ayumi S.
What do tipsy/drunk people do after leaving a bar at around 3am? Look for food of course! We were actually on our way to a Mexican food joint..but I just see pizza...and we all agreed and ran inside. Like, literally ran. Pretty small place, but GIANT slices of pizza. They got that hardcore rock music blasting in there, and pretty nice employees. We got some general cheese pizzas, pepperoni, veggies, and some garlic one. 8 pizza slices in total (2 for me and my bf and everyone else got 1 each..lame-os) & the total came out to about 26 bucks. Not bad at all! Ranch is 50 cents extra btw -_- We get back the hotel & just INHALE. Not sure it was because we were tipsy that it was intensely delicious..or that the pizza is just..generally delicious! I wish I took pics..but I was too hangry.

I ordered a pizza at 9:40pm and was quoted a wait time of 40-45 minutes. At 10:45, I was called and informed that my pizza would be on the way in 10 minutes. It arrived around 11pm and was cold. The driver forgot the drink I ordered in his car and had to go back for it. The pizza was actually amazing once I heated it up, but who wants to pay $30+ for a delivery that takes that long AND comes cold? The least they could have done was offered me a discount or waived delivery fee. I was not impressed.
(2)Evan B.
After living in a pizza wasteland known as L.A. it was refreshing to come up to PDX and get a slice that tasted like the east cost. Legit. greasy on top, fold 'em and eat 'em slices. Gotta love it. There may be better options up here, and no doubt people will let me know but for a fresh-off-the-airplane experience you could do worse in downtown.
(4)Anthony D.
Went there for vegan options, which are ok. Pricey for paper-thin za though. The Blues were too loud, replaced with b-grade doom metal cranked even higher. Minus a star for that, especially early afternoon. Minus two stars for the douchenozzle behind the counter: - Actively ignored me - Channeling Randall from "Clerks", but douchier. Think "backwards baseball cap". - Pretended the obviously-empty bathroom wasn't available - Lied about wifi, they are clearly broadcasting an SSID but wouldn't give me the password. - Damn near had to bludgeon someone to get a $&!? take-out box. Maybe the other location is staffed by grown-ups.
(2)Brian S.
Sizzle Pie has good pizza and always has meat, veggie, and vegan options available. They serve pizza on a thin crust. You can get full and 1/2 slices which is a nice option. I always wish they had a little more substance to them given the price ($3.25 for slice of cheese pizza).
(3)Vanessa S.
I wanted to check out Sizzle after an employee at the Buffalo Exchange in Berkeley recommended it to me and my friend even told me it's a really good pizza place. Since I was venturing out to Downtown and didn't realize there was a Sizzle kiddie corner to Powell's, I had to come in to get a slice. The one I got was the Apocalypse something or other, I don't remember, but I actually wasn't all that impressed. As I picked up my slice, it already started to fall apart. I like thin crust pizza, but I also want it to be able to hold its own. A bit disappointed, but it was able to curb my hunger.
(3)Evan H.
The pizza here is good, but I'm not sure I see all the hype. The pizza is very much like NY Style, and the fact that I live in NYC and can get it all the time, makes it a bit less thrilling to eat a slice of it 3,000 miles away from home. The topping do give the slices a nod in my book, especially since they are a bit inventive and offer vegan, veggie and meat pizza slice options.
(3)Zachary O.
Fun triangle location kitty-corner from Powell's. Delicious pizza that you can easily stuff your face with. Tons of weird flavor combos for carnivores and vegans alike. Best gluten free crust in Portland. The staff always seems a little stressed out, but understandably so because it's always packed (for good reason). The music is a little loud and it can be hard to chat with friends, but worth it. Good place for a quick snack/linner between book binging at Powell's, thrift shopping at Buffalo Exchange, and movie consumption at Living Room Theatres.

After a night of hanging out with many many rugby players in mostly dive bars, it was time to get my butt back home. My stomach chose not to fully agree with me. I needed to shut it up. So on my wander on home I stopped in at Sizzle Pie. Heck at 2:30 in the AM just about any food sounds good. And a slice from SP is about as good as anything at that time, so why not. I've written a review about the east side location and I do like their pizza. It's not NJ/NY pizza but it's decent. You really can't go wrong with a slice of pepperoni, even one that drips so much grease that I could have put in in a pan and fried an egg with it and still have some left over. It wasn't anything special, but does one really care much early in the wee hours of the morning? Nope. This location is tiny in comparison to the other locale and doesn't have the character either with the exception of the woman doling out the slices all brightly dressed with a cool hat on. Also I couldn't find red pepper flake. So I covered my slice with some oregano. Shoot the pizza was what it was and at 2:30am I'd eat it again. Of course at that time in the morning I'd stoop to eating pizza slut too..... Enjoy.

I had spent the day traveling, so I was looking for something quick and easy.bbThe front desk woman at my hotel recommended Sizzle Pie. I ordered two slices and was initially disappointed that I couldn't find a place to sit. Just as I was ready to return to the counter to request a to-go box, a young man offered up space at his table. I gladly accepted. The cheese pizza was delighful,

Always 5 stars. I'd give it more if I could. Try the vegan Buffalo 666. This makes my life complete.

We were visiting Portland for the weekend, and had walked by this place multiple times to and from the hotel. When we wanted something quick and cheap we decided to give this place a try. I'm glad we did. We only ordered slices. I got the one with steak and broccoli, and it was delicious. Packed full of toppings and flavor. Seating is a bit limited in the place, but we were able to find a table at 8 pm on a Saturday night.
(4)Ashley B.
First thing first... If you like different varieties of toppings and thin crust pizza, this is it. One of the best pies I've had so far. Napalm Breath was delicious. Don't be intimidated by the name. Your breath won't smell terrible after eating, despite having onions and garlic on the menu. Normally, I don't do pepperoni due to my sensitive taste and smell of pork, and just about every place that serves pepperoni pizza has been rejected by my senses. Not here though I don't know what makes this place different, but I devoured my half of a large pizza. Overall, it was a good experience. Service was adequate for how busy they were. Pizza was good. Crust was just how I liked it (crunchy). Plus, they had some good and decent choices in beer, so no complaints in that department. Hooray! On a negative note, seating is extremely limited. You will have to be a watchful hawk and swoop in the very second the seated patrons stand up. Be aware of others trying to do the same thing. A deadly glare or a sigh of disappointment from the slower person can make it a little awkward, but oh well. You snooze you lose. Just keep your eyes on the prize (pizza) and enjoy every bit of it when it comes. Another note... Just order a whole damn pie, so they can make it fresh. I know people like getting a slice at a time, but come on. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH PIZZA. Save it for later, and eat it for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. Trust me... Pizza that has been sitting out for hours under a lamp, with fruit flies flying in and out of it (as we witnessed it tonight) is not appetizing at all. At least have the decency to treat yourself to a hot, fresh, crispy pie without the extra protein (bugs) if you're going to eat pizza. Do it right.
(4)Jean Y.
We stopped by at 1am on a Saturday, and Sizzle Pie was very calm, other than the awful punk rock music playing on the speakers. The temperature was below freezing though, which may have kept normal revelers home. We got a couple of cuts (1/12 of an 18" pizza) for $3.75 total. Slices (1/6 of an 18" pizza) and whole pies were available as well. The flavors were more interesting than those of an average late night pizza place, but I found the thin crispy crust to be a bit dry. However, I am positive that the pizza would have been amazing had I been drunk.
(3)Mo G.
Opened Late, Outside seating, dive-bar,dirty & grose but pizza is ok. if you're on a budget and hungry late at night. I think they close at 4am. Don't park across the street in the parking lot unless you pay or you will get a $35 ticket. They also serve beer on tap.
(3)Dyna H.
Fantastic! Could have filmed a rave-review commercial by just pointing a camera at us and recording the yummmmmmm through our stuffed cheeks. The crust is perfectly charred. The cheese respectably oily. The sauce is delicious even for our not-so-fond-of-tomato-sauce dinner partner. The white sauce on the vegetarian just heaven. A miraculous find for us out-of-towners.
(5)Nevenka A.
Great people watching. Nice view of Powell's intersection. Pizza is okay. With interesting toppings. Large salads.
(4)Justin W.
Really amazing vegan pizza. We go here every now and then, and haven't ever been let down. New Maps with roasted garlic, red onion and mushroom is the best!
(5)Autumn G.
After being slightly later than anticipated, my friends and I were slightly worried that we were too late to get pizza at 2:40am in Portland. As my friend sped through the city trying to get to Burnside we called in a pizza hoping that they would take pity on us. And they did! Even after arriving at the wrong location (I wish they had two different numbers for the two locations as opposed to a 'press 1 for this location' sort of thing, considering both locations are on the same street and it can be hard to differentiate) and speeding over to the right one, only arriving at 2:58, they had our pizza ready for us and we were able to go find a nice bench to eat on near by. Price wise, it's not as expensive as it could have been. It averaged out to around $8 a person, with plenty of pizza for leftovers. The pizza itself was good, and I like their various options. They have a lot of veggie options, which is handy when trying to appeal to different people. You can also get pizza half-and-half which is also nice for trying to share with people. Overall I was just happy with their catering to us even though we showed up at (almost) literally the last minute.

I know it is my fault for having high expectations of this place despite the fact that a few friends had a negative experience when they dined here a few months back. I wanted so badly to love this place, to give them the benefit of the doubt, to prove the bad reviews wrong... But I couldn't. I don't think it is the food itself, but the way that it was made that is an issue. - Their crust is great in flavor and texture, but the way it was stretched was so uneven that I got bites of near-raw dough alternating with bites of paper thin crust. It also flopped at the thin zone despite folding. - The cheese was greasy which is a given, but excessive on certain pies. The cheese to sauce ratio was like... Rookie Pizza Hut style. Basically, if I wanted a white pizza I would have asked for one. So sad. - Cleanliness - I observed no hand washing while waiting in line, from anyone including the cashier who handled my slices. I got my cheese slice and the entire bottom of it was covered in burned flour from the ovens. My only guess is that they didn't clean the ovens and if they did they didn't scrape AND brush all the debris out. Instead, it costed the bottom of my slices and gave me an extra dose of carcinogens. Thanks. I ended up throwing my second slice away because after one bite of it I couldn't take any more ash flavored pizza. - Customer Service - what customer service? The only nice guy was the one who gave me the restroom key. No greeting, no suggestions, nothing. The guy was just in such a bad mood that it put me in a bad mood. I came here all the way from San Francisco on a road trip with friends and this is seriously the only place I wanted to visit. I am literally heartbroken. I bet the food would have tasted better if they were a little nicer.

My fav pizza joint in portland. Similar to voodoo but in pizza form with catch names such as 7 heavens of bacon and many strange toppings. Love that you can get by slice or the whole pie! The gooey cheese pizza loaded with toppings is always a great sign and who doesn't love their logo. Value 4/5 Atmosphere 4/5 Service 4/5 Quality 4/5 Solid 16/20

"Death to False Pizza," the slogan you see on your receipt and the patches, stickers and shirts available for sale on the walls, should tell you alone what to expect. Though you wouldn't guess it from looking around the late late night pizza parlor and seeing the clientele, Sizzle Pie's slogan - an ode to the various 'trve klvt' slogans in the punk and metal scenes ("Death to False Metal," "Death to False Grind," etc), an essential part of the Sizzle Pie experience, makes this place basically a punk and metal pizza venue. You'll hear anything on the jukebox from Slayer to Blackflag to the jangly sounds of post-punk and some of the more dissonant and harsh tunes from the best underground extreme metal and hardcore punk has to offer. Even the names of the pizza, such as South of Heaven or D-Beat (a subgenre of punk best defined by UK Hardcore band Discharge), are explicit references to punk and metal music. That makes this place one of my favorite to visit and blow away a lot of money on expensive pizza. The scenery, aesthetics and music are all great but so is the pizza. Far greater in quality than any of the big name chain pizza delivery places, a ton of variety, and open late, Sizzle Pie is a no-brainer when thinking about what to grab to eat at 2 am after you just finished a night of clubbing and drinking, the bars have all closed and you're starving. Now if there were just less misplaced jocks and dudebros looking uncomfortable as Insect Warfare blares into their ears and they buy a pizza with a name they don't know the reference to, this place would be heaven.
(4)Jennifer C.
Just look at this menu ( sizzlepie.com ). I mean, are you kidding me? Those all sound amazing! I had one slice of this odd concoction of tomatoes and caramelized onions and topped with Daiya vegan cheese, and it was very odd, but tasty. It was a nice thin crust texture, and the pizza was unlike anything I had ever had before. I know there's another pizza place that's all the rage in Portland (Old Town), but based solely on flavor, you have to go to Sizzle Pie, it's infinitely better and non-ghoulish!!
(4)Sam M.
Really good vegan pizza with vegan breadsticks and ranch dressing. We got a large and it was nice and big. The piece was good too, cheaper than the popular pizza chain places. This place has a cool laid back atmosphere and the guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. The menu is huge with plenty to choose from for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans.
(4)Brittany G.
Holy delicious, Batman! Sizzle Pie is definitely one of my favorite things about living in Portland. They're open late, service is no-frills (which I really appreciate when I'm hungry!) and the pizza is killer. The inside seating is limited, but it's not the type of place where people linger. Writing this review is already making me hungry...
(4)Julia Z.
You know the drill.... circle for parking, Powell's, Sizzle. The slices are good but expensive. Still, points for having other than standard cheese ready to go. I ordered a gluten free pie. Twenty five minutes? Really? It was good but again, that's a lot of coin for what is ultimately simple food. The service was ok. The only diet choice in the soda fountain is Coke Zero. .. be warned. Also their straws are brittle. What is up with that? So. . Tasty but a little odd. Kinda like Portland in general. Lol
(4)e. w.
I took the half an hour they said it would to get a custom ordered pie. But when we got it, we were in pizza heaven. We got half of the Always Sunny in Portland (hah) and the Bursting Hearts on the other half. Both were great. My only gripe is it took so long, but they had mostly take out business, and ready made slices were available.
(4)Nikki H.
Sizzle pie has a variety of pizza options: vegan. gluten free, vegetarian and meat. Also, they have bomb ass breadsticks and dipping sauce to die for. However, the seating is limited and there is no diet coke available, and sometimes the music is too loud to have a conversation. Even though there are some drawbacks, they are first and foremost a pizza place, and they do pizza incredibly well.
(4)Brenda F.
The wait staff is rude and appear as if they don't like their jobs. The pizza is cold, hard, and almost tasteless - skimping on the toppings. I'm convinced the only reason there able to stay in business is because of their prime location and large flashing sign. These people do not deserve your business. Horrible.
(1)Shila B.
One of the few only places open on a Sunday at 11:00 am. This place has some positive character. It's dark inside, there's a juke box and you get beer. The slices are expensive at $3.50 each, however, really good. The salad wasn't too bad either. The guy at the cash til was super friendly. The guy at the til pulls double duty, therefore, if he isn't giving you the attention right away, be politely vocal. This isn't a quick bite to go sort of place, therefore, expect to wait at least 5 - 10 minutes...therefore, chill and have a drink with a friend. My Pizza experience is limited and not that great due to being from Vancouver, BC Canada, therefore, I will agree that this is the best pie so far in Portland.
(5)Grace B.
Good pizza. Baaaad service. Came here to grab a quick slice. Walked in and said hi to the girl behind the counter. She ignores me and promptly decides to go admire the pizza slices instead. I thought she maybe just didn't hear me so I go order a slice. No hint of a smile or greeting from her still. I wait for the food to warm about ten min then she slides the plate with the slice on it across the counter towards me. Thank goodness the slice didn't fall off the plate? I say thank you and she's already gone without a word.
(2)Kelly B.
They now have a full bar including liquor and taps at this location. More seating and nice patio seating.
(5)Bob R.
I have never in my pizza-loving life waited 14 minutes from the time my order and money were taken to the time I received a single slice of plain pizza; and I never will again. Because I am NOT returning to sizzle pie. Yeah they were doing business but they weren't slammed. No one moved to help the slice person work down her queue , not the cashier, not the phone guy, neither of the bakers. Infuriating indifference
(1)Chelsea S.
got their pizza and salad special and it was great. not a lot of seating so you might be standing and eating.

Vegan pizzas galore and you will NOT be disappointed, my fellow veg heads. I highly recommend the Buffalo 666, the "New maps out of hell" or the apocalyptic. The "bad reputation" is kinda run of the mill daiya pizza, but maybe it's just not my thing. With nutritional yeast at the counter next to the hot sauce, you can't go wrong. I will scarf down their amazing vegan pies as much as possible. Note: They have brunch pizza!

We love this place. They have a great selection of vegan slices, that are unique and delicious. The reason for the poor rating is the poor service received last Sunday by Dustyn. He is the most unfriendly and most unhelpful person behind the counter. Asking him what was the red wine, he just stood there and said it was red. Made no effort to even check to see what it was, even when asked. Sorry guys, but service out weighs food quality.

What I liked about this pizza is how they reheated it. They heated it long enough to give it a crispy dough and crispy crust. Made each bite a little extra enjoyable.

So, I'm not really a food snob, but being from NYC i do know pizza. Sizzle Pie is the closest i have found in Portland that can match a good brooklyn slice. I'm a big fan of just cheese or maybe pepperoni, they've also got a lot of great toppings options. Added bonus, took a gluten free friend here and he loved their GF pizza. Go here. Eat the pizza. Enjoy beastie boys music.

I am a sucker for good pizza. I am vegetarian so that limits me somewhat. Sizzle Pie usually has a cheese pizza and maybe one other that is meatless. Their salads are decent. The prices are decent. The music is usually pretty cool. It's a great place to grab a slice before heading across the street to get lost at Powell's for hours.

Cool place. Diff vibe. Pizza was awesome. Unique names for pizzas and the pizza creations were unique and cool. Salad was awesome. Good beer selection. Seating is limited but we had no prob finding a seat. Check this place out.
(4)Eunice L.
Crispy and cheesy slice of pizza...what a combo!!! And if you don't want a slice (which is huge), they will cut the slixe in half for you! How can you beat that?
(4)Todd W.
Decently creative toppings, if you like super thin crispy crust. Counter guy wouldn't even acknowledge me. I'm just not a fan of the dark, brooding, anti social style. I felt completely unwelcome.

Open late. Acclaimed to be one of the best pie makers in this city. Music from a jukebox played and people sang along out loud. They offer a variety of thin crust NY style pizza. By the slice or the whole pie. Gluten Free and Vegan options available. I've only been here once. We shared a pepperoni pizza and it was good but super oily. While on our table, sitting on the stand, it tipped over and fell onto the floor. They made us a new one and that was fantastic of them..
(3)Sara W.
Disappointed with our food at Sizzle Pie on Burnside St. We should have know better than to order the slices that had clearly been sitting in the display case past their prime. I suspect we would have been better off having ordered a whole, fresh pie. The crust was limp and soggy and the toppings were bland. We ate a slice of Bad Lieutenant (sausage and onion) and a slice of Spiral Tap (caramelized onion spread and nutritional yeast). While it was nice to see vegan options on the menu it would have been even more impressive if it had tasted better. The dining area didn't seem spic and span. I guess that's what happens when you rely on customers to bus their own tables. On the other hand, the staff was welcoming and the music was great.

Thumbs up for a quick fix lunch. Thumbs down if you're a pizza enthusiast who loves pizza sauce. I love that the pizza had a nice crunch but the problem was that it was rather salty (from the cheese & pepperoni) to my liking. I think it was because there wasn't much tomato sauce to balance it out. Yeah, I only got the pepperoni pizza. Boring, but it was a cheap fast food.
(3)theresa d.
Good Pizza for a cheap quick meal. If you only have 20 mins for lunch then this would be a good spot to grab a slice and run.
(3)J.k. S.
We really enjoyed this place! Staff was quick and efficient, pizza was delicious NY style. Tried a couple different slices, but I'm always a sucker for a "plain" slice. Really good. Quick and inexpensive too.
(4)Jacob M.
After living in New York for a while, I am probably not the easiest to impress when it comes to pizza, and Sizzle Pie didn't exactly live up to my expectations. The problem was essentially a lack of pineapple on the Hawaiian pizza, but to Sizzle Pie's credit they did add to the meager toppings when I pointed out how few pineapples were there. This made it a lot better, but I would caution anyone who comes here to look at the toppings before you order, and especially if you take it to go. Make sure that the pizza has enough tasty stuff. Other than that, Sizzle Pie was A-Ok. I would definitely come back.
(3)Daniel K.
Pretty decent slice of pizza, not the greatest, but a pretty cool place. My family of 3 ate for under $20, we all left satisfied. I ordered the Gene Parmesan (I think that's what it was called), it was flavorful and not too greasy. I had the privilege of witnessing a customer who was being a giant D-bag towards one of the workers demand to speak to the manager. I watched all the glorious drama unfold right before me, and I must say the staff all handled this guy with amazing restraint. Well played if you ask me.
(4)Lily S.
I ate a slice of pizza called "Rudimentary Penne". It was fantastic - vodka sauce, garlic, veggies, cheese, you know the drill. And you know what, I would've eaten the entire damn pie, but I had to bike home afterwards and I didn't want to pass out or vomit while on my ride. But damn, if we had driven there, it would've been a whole different story. Go there. It's right next to Rock n Rose - see what I'm getting at here?

I left this establishment this evening quite unsure of why it was you had reacted to me the way you had. I apologize if I came across as rude, but after paying for a product I felt it fair that I should leave with it. I do understand that you were quite busy this evening and I'm sure that put a lot of added stress on you as well. That being said, I knew my number, I checked it nauratically to insure I went up for the right order, and had my receipt in hand. But what really bothered me the most was you filling my two additional ranches halfway and then not bothering to seal them properly before what appeared to being "storming off". I tip well, I'm there regularly and I'm very forgiving. I wasn't trying to pester you, just trying to communicate an error. That being said, I still love this place and the food, and the people. But this was definitely a smear on a normally very clean slate. I'm not going to point fingers, because I also work in customer service and I know how s***** that can be. But just remember in the future if you see this that everyone is fighting a battle that you know nothing about and to try harder to treat people with kindness.

I was visiting Portland for the first time from Los Angeles and only came here once. It was about 6 months ago, so my review may be a bit dated. That said, I still remember this as being one of the lesser quality experiences during my trip. My friend and I chose this place mainly because it was within walking distance from Powell's books. The restaurant itself had this unique sort of punk rock vibe to it. I remember pizzas having clever names that referenced various rock bands and their songs (i.e. "Ace of Spades" as in the song by Motorhead). It was also surprisingly packed for a pizza joint. The trouble started when they messed up my order. I ordered 3 different types of pizza slices and instead got 2 of the 3 that were the same. I sent one back and waited forever to have it replaced. When it finally was, the slice was the wrong kind again, but this time it was the same as the other one I got. I decided not to send it back a second time, but when I began eating it I was dismayed to discover a hair on my slice. Third strike. The food itself wasn't necessarily bad... it just wasn't particularly good either. They used unusual toppings, such as cranberries and spinach, which gave it a sense of novelty. But it wasn't anything spectacular. Personally, I didn't feel like some of the toppings went well together and there wasn't quite enough tomato sauce for my taste. But that's just me. I have a feeling that my negative experience may not be a typical one, but being from out of town I'm unlikely to visit again anytime soon to confirm or deny this theory. So I'll give it 2 stars for the ambience and creativity.
(2)Mary M.
Great pizza with terrific vegan options but the customer service is among the worst I've ever experienced. I used to be a regular but the waits and misinformation just got to be too much to bare. I don't know how many times I was told 45 mins for a pizza and I show up on time and they have not even started my pizza. Their delivery service is a complete joke. If it gets busy they will simply put you on hold and then hang up on you repeatedly. One day I literally burned through 30 mins of cell time trying to fricking order a pizza. I gave up and ordered from hot lips. So unless you want to eat pizza by the slice and listen to absolutely terrible thrash-metal I recommend another option.
(1)Sadie M.
Attention people with Gluten Allergies- Because they make both gluten free and flour crust. There is flour floating in the air in this building.. Not sure if it was the air or the toppings on my gluten free crust but I got very sick ;( The pizza is delicious don't get me wrong!

My wife and me found this place one year ago, in my vacations in Portland, walking Portland with a 8 years old and 2 years old boys. They really keep Portland weird is 90's atmosphere very rock. So little scary for a family, but the Pizza!, the pizza is amazing, we love the thin crust toasty cheese pizza. Conclusion: we moved to Portland and this is our favorite pizza place.
(5)Mahsa K.
It's a divey grab a slice, take a pizza pan attached to a chain for a bathroom key, and bolt type of place. If you're in the area and craving a slice of greasy --and I mean dripping puddles-- type of pizza, and don't want to sit down or anything for a while then you have come to the right place. For me, the flavors were interesting and and I appreciated they had vegan versions, but it wasn't like something I would crave or die for. It was just okay, and two stars is the epitome of "meh." I'll go there if whomever I'm with wanted to go there, but I wouldn't be the one to spearhead the trend. One bonus, I also appreciate that they have slices and also "cuts" which are essentially half the size for half the price... Or in girl language, half the fat with just half the guilt.

The tale of 2 Sizzle Pies...I've become accustomed to the newly renovated and expanded SP on E Burnside. ..however I found myself on Christmas day with 2 individuals who just could not wait until 7 to grab dinner and drinks so we stopped into the downtown location. Hey this is- agreat place for takeaway but the cramped space, hardly any seating let alone the location isn't conducive to eating in... Hey...no doubt this is not fine dining... But a bit of a refresh ala e burnside is in order for this location A great place to grab lunch if you happen to work or are in that area...but I'd stop on one of the many food cart choices first. Again great for takeaway ... All the requisite pie choices ...
(3)Jason B.
Great place for late-night pizza after a night of drinking. Good punk rock jukebox and craft beer too.
(5)Tamara C.
After a couple of beers and only subsisting on Luna Energy bars all day, I was famished. So I put a couple more beers in my giant purse, opened a new one and my friend and I sashayed the few blocks from my flat to Sizzle Pie. Although I had a bit of a buzz on, I can assure you that I remember quite clearly how fantastic the Karp pizza by the slice was as well as the Rabbits Salad. My friend had the tried and true pepperoni. For $6.00 you will get a giant slice and a huge pile of salad. The gal behind the counter was warm and welcoming from the second we walked in the door. No hipster pretentiousness here - no sir. I am in total amore with this place and am so glad to see that the old Rocco's was replace by the awesomeness that is Sizzle Pie. This is thin crust pizza done right and who knows...I may be slinking back down there tonight.
(5)Cori W.
Damn good pizza, creative combinations (like breakfast pizza on the weekends) and fabulous salads. I'm a big fan of their caesar salad with veg-friendly dressing and can never pass up their pizza with ricotta, green onion, and truffle oil or the vegan pepperoni. I've never ordered a whole pie but have felt satisfied with 2 slices and some salad, around $20 for 2 people. Service has always been friendly, beer always cold. Win-win.
(4)Parker T.
They have ten vegan pizzas. They deliver to an indecently late hour seven days a week. Our favorite combination is half a Vegan Angel of Doom, half a New Maps Out Of Hell (also vegan). There are many vegetable options & the three toppings, along with the creamy basil cashew spread & soy curls on the New Maps Out Of Hell, are up to you (broccoli, pineapple bits, & jalapenos are our favorites).
(5)Kam A.
Big slices, good options for non-meat eaters...and the vegans in your life. We tried three slices: classic pepperoni, the vegan special of the day, and whatever veggie pizza was left when we happened to wander through around 2:00 p.m. The inside is fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. There is a fun mural outside with my ideal food pyramid. It's a nice stop when you're coming out of Powell's.
(4)Pete The Pu P.
This hipster joint took 45 minutes to heat up a blah slice. Some of us have jobs.
(2)Cheryl R.
What can I say? I love Sizzle Pie. For some reason, we typically hit up the east side Sizzle Pie... but recently we started visiting the west side location. I like this spot more for some reasons and less for others. I love that they have 3 pies by the slice to choose from instead of 2 like the east side.. which is really just the Spiral Tap and something random each time for the vegan selection... So, the option of choosing possibly 2 different slices (I'm not a fan of the Spiral Tap) just suits me nicely. Also.. We tend to go here when the east side is just too busy. This location has yet to make me wait 30 minutes for slices. And there is ALWAYS somewhere to sit. I DON'T like that you have to use a key to get in the bathrooms.. call me lazy. I also don't like the atmosphere quite as much as the east side.... BUT this location always seems to have control. They get through their lines quickly and never screw up orders or have an immense wait time for your slices. I love Sizzle Pie no matter what location I end up at. I spend all my dollars on their pizza.
(5)AJ Y.
The Ol' Dirty is absolutely amazing. Salami, ricotta cheese, pepperoncinis on an olive oil base, simple but amazingly flavorful.
(4)Christine S.
The pizza slices are huge! They are about half the Size of a full family sized pizza back in Australia. Has vegan options as well which I like. Good, quick service and an awesome music selection. (was playing metal when we walked in)

So Im originally from norther NJ and a card carrying pizza snob. Im more critical of my pizza than my steak, if you wanna get real honest. Sooo.... Sizzle pie is one of my top tier choices, but at the bottom of the top tier. Backhanded compliment? Maybe.... When S.P. is rocking traditional slices, its firing on all 8 cylinders. Ive always said if a pizza place cant sling a straight up cheese pie that's amazing then theyre in the wrong biz. Well, the cheese slice and the pepperoni are both delish. Police and thieves is a good take on a veggie slice, since spinach and mushrooms are two of the most solid items in the produce section and both belong on pizza. However, if you see all 3 of these straight up traditional pies available by the slice then its a rare treat indeed.... Ok I get it, this is Portland. There is a certain demographic that likes their carbon friendly, gluten free, organic, vegan, fair trade hippie treehugging ingredients. Personally, I think that's all a load of shit. Ok, organic meat is fucking awesome. The rest of it can suck ass. BUT, if you can sell it at a profit then knock yourself out. Im a capitalist dog, YEE HA! Im ok with those pies being on deck, really I am...even though I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. But 6 out of 8 pies?!?!?!?! FUCK!!! Sorry, S.P....cant give you more than a 3 out of 5. Technically, it should be 2 of 5 since that about averages the proportion of 'authentic' toppings to weird stuff. If you need to cater to local flavors, Im ok with that, but seriously need to consider more variety on traditional pies by the slice. Your pie is very good. Rivals some of what NJ and NY pizzerias are slinging. But you need to have at least half...HALF of your by the slice options mirroring what flys on the east coast. At minimum, a cheese pie, pepperoni, sausage/mushroom, and green pepper/olive/shroom should ALWAYS be ready by the slice. Im not the only Portlander that chooses Escape from NY or Straight from NY over Sizzle Pie for just that reason.

I first had Sizzle Pie when I was visiting Portland a couple of months ago and I was super impressed with the customer service. So many people get on Yelp just to complain, but I really wanted to make something that I thought was totally above and beyond average customer service known to Yelpers. I ordered a pizza for takeout that had jalapeno peppers on it, and apparently they were out of them and tried to call me after they took my order to ask if it was okay if they subbed hot red peppers for the jalapenos. My phone had died so I didn't get the voice message, and when I got there to pick up my pizza, they had gone ahead and put the red peppers on it (which was totally fine with me). The thing that really impressed me in this scenario was that not only were they super apologetic about something that I thought was absolutely no big deal throughout the entire transaction, the guy at the register also gave a full punch card for a free slice the next time I come in for being understanding about the pepper switch. I've worked multiple jobs in food service before, so I try to be really easy going when it comes to eating out. This might not sound like a big deal to most, but I thought it was cool and something that I really remembered about Sizzle Pie. Oh, and the pizza's awesome, too -- and I'll forever recommend any establishment with a jukebox in it. Definitely worth checking out!

His mom and I were at Powell's Books so he took the liberty to walk across the street w/ the boy to help me knock off one of my bookmarks: Sizzle Pie. It may be ridiculous of me to make it a habit to only eat at places per my bookmarks (however, I'm not too picky when I have others w/ me) but to me it is fun and enriching. He wasn't too thrilled when we first left the hotel that I checked my bookmarks but hey.. he asked me where I would like to go! He got 2 cuts. Let me explain. A slice will cost you $3.50 but a cut (half of a slice) will cost you $1.75. He ordered the Turner and Hooch which is - ham, egg, and onions and a pepperoni. We literally just left Rogue Ales Public House a little over an hour ago so I was appreciative of the cuts otherwise I would have opted for the slice.. make that slices [plural]. A rather super thin slice like a NY-style pizza should be but this one is crispy at the same time. Toppings weren't packed but that is the norm for this type of of pizza. I liked both of the selections. In the end since it was kind of difficult eating whilst walking, he made a sandwich out of the cuts. It tasted pretty bomb to me. I can't say that taste, quality, quantity, service, and overall ambiance is great w/ every bookmark that I have visited but this particular one, on taste alone since I didn't pay for it (haha) is a solid 4 stars. If there is a next time, I want to try the Drugs Benedict- shallot and white bean cheese sauce, rosemary-tofu scramble, and hash browns on wheat crust. I am all about unique, weird, fusion, or whatever else creations... the typical is great but let's mix it up, shall we? I get bored w/ routine, food-wise that is but I like to keep my daily grind a routine (i.e. work, gym).
(4)Deanna N.
nom nom...definitely the best reheated individual slices in the city. Its a huge NY style slice and a large, fresh side salad for $6. Enjoyed both the vegan Caesar and spicy pimento nuts on the red leaf. Know they have vegan pepperoni options - I just say do the real thing. Wish they had Diet Coke instead of Coke Zero only spoken like an addict. Slink over after the Doug Fir or Bossanova.
(4)Matt D.
Great late night pizza! Strolled over from the Lucia Hotel after room service had ended, they're open until 4:00AM Saturdays! Had the Pig Destroyer and the breadsticks with the onion spread and the basil cashew. Wasn't too heavy of a late night snack that we were hating ourselves the next morning.
(4)Teresa L.
I've always had good service at the downtown location and when I've had pizza delivered. I don't have a lot of choices for local pizza delivery in my part of town so I'm glad SP is here to provide.
(5)Vik M.
I love pizza by the slice! It is nice to be able to have a giant slice of pizza and some salad for $6. The premade pizzas were tasty enough but no more than a mall pizza chain (think Sbarros). They also name their pizzas quirky things like Kevin's Bacon. All in all, this is a decently priced establishment that can hit pizza spot whenever you need it to.
(3)Marc P.
Sizzle Pie is good, but I don't think it's quite worth the hype that it gets. They have quality pizza, a big variety, and fast service, but I definitely don't think it's worth the price. $4 or more per slice is asking kind of a lot, especially for some of the more simple pies. This makes me think that you're buying the quirky reputation here, rather than the actual product. Some of their more original pizza really are quite good though. The toppings are always good quality and fresh, so you know that you're going to get a good slice every time, but you just need to ask yourself if it's really worth that price tag? For me the answer is usually no and I opt for something that is more filling and more reasonably priced. The staff is quick, accurate, and friendly enough but this is a busy store so don't expect any of the usual small talk. They certainly are not rude, they're just busy, which I completely understand as a former service industry worker. At the end of the day I would say it is good enough pizza, but it is has a high price.
(3)Jessica F.
My favorite pizza in town, no question!
(5)Andrew K.
Pizza is good, nice interior and plenty of seating. But the customer service and overall treatment from the staff is awful. The management should seriously consider some training for the staff, considering their prime location to many excellent bars.
(1)Bill G.
I ate here once when I was really jonesing for pizza. It wasn't great but it was pizza. The next time I looked over the slices in the display case and after seeing nothing but warmed over junk on burnt crust with stingy toppings I walked out and bought dinner at a food truck instead.
(1)Ben C.
Great pizza, thin an New York style. But service is cheap and lucky they have such great slice options. Also great for those looking for vegan options. Mmmmm....
(4)Jane S.
Pizza is good, pricing is tough. $3.50 for a slice of cheese? Seemed cheaper to get a whole pizza, but it was quoted at 35 mins, which was a tough wait. All is tasty but $30 for me and 2 kids to have lunch is a little hard to take.
(3)Louvenia E.
No outlets. I wanted to do some work on my laptop - no outlets. Super busy on Friday night - nice people shared seating with me. Pizza is very oily - yummy in the moment, not so yummy after the moment. They kept beers on their chalkboard that they don't have anymore.
(3)Sienna M.
Looks and tastes like it was made from playdough. The vegan pizzas are really awful. It filled me with sadness. The regular pie is not much better. Pizza arrived cold. Phone service was rude.
(1)Brian C.
Today's customer service left an awful taste in my mouth and the horrible attitude of just one employee has completely tarnished this establishment for me. What at one time was a staple of my annual trip has now become merely an afterthought. The food is great; unfortunately I have to give them a 1 star rating
(1)Anna F.
This spot is great for grabbing a slice as you're passing by with sometimes long lines but quick service. I love the plain cheese and my boyfriend is a big fan of the big muff. Have also tried a few varieties and the pizza is always solid. No complaints - this pizza is great!
(5)Charmaine S.
I don't get the hype. Maybe it is for the experience at the restaurant and not delivery. My pizza arrived 2 hours after my order, when I called they did warn me it would take 90 minutes for delivery. It was cold, greasy, limp and had little flavor. I warmed a slice up in my toaster oven (sausage and onion) and it was edible. The rest went in the fridge...my thinking was I love cold pizza for breakfast. Today it was soggy and bland. In to the garbage it goes. Escape, Hotlips, SFNY and even Eat Pizza are better options in my book.
(1)Eisha C.
I have been three times in the last month and every time I come they are out of member cards and tell me I am Out of luck. I have been with 4 friends ordering 2 slices each and I think it's bull that I have over 16 Slices of pizza each time and they won't stamp or find a card. Clearly they want to rip people off.
(1)Brody L.
I have only gotten delivery from here and it was awesome. Probably the best pizza delivery I have had in my area.
(4)Rose H.
An awesome pizza place in a really hip neighborhood, Sizzle Pie has it all! We ordered the Pig Destroyer, and we demolished it! The pizzas aren't super cheap, but they are huge, filling, and yummy. Totally worth it!
(5)Mark B.
Ole Dirty slice with a side of Pizza sauce is where it's at! Add a Caligula salad, and you have an EXTREMELY tasty and cheap meal. This salad must be laced with crack, because I find myself licking the damned plate after it's gone! The portion is HUGE too!
(5)Jessica G.
Best NYC style pizza in Portland hands down! I'm a traditionalist at heart and though they do make a good creative pie (shout out to the New Deal Pizza), their old fashioned cheese and pepperoni pizza is perfection. Thin crust, gooey cheese just lightly broiled, just the right amount of tomato sauce. Pepperoni is crispy on the edges for just a bit of crunch. Making myself want to run back over there right now! The customer service is pretty unbelievable too. We had ordered a pizza for pickup a few weeks ago and took it home only to find out that it was wrong- after quite a bit of confusion with the staff and another order. They give us a free pizza delivery to correct the mix ups, and after the manager heard what happened, she hand delivered a gift card to our home. We're pretty loyal customers to begin with so weren't put off by the mix up with the orders, but the fact that they went so out of their way to make it right was what really made the situation stand out to us. They're almost always busy so keep that in mind when visiting, but they have a good variety of meat and veggies slices ready to order. Sundays are the quietest and are good to pop in and grab a seat and slices to share!
(5)Bradley B.
Very unique slice options has me a fan of this place. I'm also a fan of the service there as they are friendly and can explain the different options to you, like they had just finished trying a piece of each pie themselves. Oh and the hours are great. I work alot into the late nights and should I need food in NW, there aren't many options so that gives Sizzle Pie a bonus. SP wil be on my most frequented list.
(4)Sarah A.
Sizzle PIe is the place to go if you don't like spending a ton of money, on great pizza and want it at any time of the day or night. I came in Thursday night, and the staff was super friendly and helpful even though their credit card machine was malfunctioning. I think it's typical for businesses to focus on logistics and getting people in and out and forget about providing quality service, but not at Sizzle Pie. I didn't catch the guys name that was working the "slice" station :) but he was REALLY friendly and described each pizza layer by layer from crust to core and even sold me on a piece with an unfamiliar ingredient (jackfruit) that I would have never tried. Sizzle PIe managment, thank you for staffing friendly, outgoing, genuine people who can handle their jobs and maintain quality human contact. It's refreshing and appreciated. (Oh, and you're pizza is delicious)
(4)Alexis W.
The crust is thin and the ingredients are fresh, but pizza is pizza...not worth the nearly 40min wait we had for our special "garlic" concoction pie to be baked. It wasn't that busy of an afternoon. If you are stopping by for a quick slice of what they already have made, the pepperoni was pretty good. Their ranch dressing is yummy, they get a star for that! They also gave us a water bowl for the dog we had with us. Staff was certainly friendly.
(4)Emiy B.
A group of three friends and myself are leaving Burning Man, and as we leave the desert which had been our home for a week, we were craving some real food. Our final destination was Seattle, but my boyfriend and I, who are from Miami, really wanted to check out Portland. One of the girls in my group was a vegan, and I myself am a super-picky vegetarian. I did a google search for vegan pizza and found a few locations. I checked out the menu online for Sizzle Pie, and was convinced JUST by the names of the pizzas that I had to go there. The hilarious and song-referencing names were just as great as the pizza itself. The restaurant is cute, with a young-edgy ambiance, and the employees were friendly and helpful. Even the menu itself is nice, being organized into categories of "vegan" and "vegetarian." Its a great place for the hipster vegan or the earth-conscious punk rocker to come in, hang out, and grab a slice. I definitely recommend coming here.
(4)Andrew S.
I really like their $6 slice and a salad deal. Big salad and any slice they offer. Pizza is above average for Portland. Recommended.
(4)teresa m.
we hadn't been in since it switched from rocco's pizza to this. good thin slice of cheese pizza. nice ambiance.
(5)Shaun M.
After reading so many reviews and hearing great things, I was anticipating trying out Sizzle Pie. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my hopes. Got a pizza to go, and it was ready when I showed up, so points for that. While my interactions were limited, the service was good and I didn't have any issues at all. I can understand why people like Sizzle Pie, it definitely has the "Portland" feel so I can see why people enjoy the atmosphere. They also have far more options for pizza by the slice than anywhere I have been, as well as tons of vegan/vegetarian options. Unfortunately, I'm not either. I ordered a Don Caballero and some breadsticks. The breadsticks were good but not great, although bonus points for having a variety of sauces to choose from. Side note, if you like spicy sauces, get the ardvark, but be warned it is hotter than you think. The pizza itself was just ok. I thought the toppings were a bit sparse and none of the ingredients stood out. Nothing bad, nothing great. With all that being said, I wouldn't order another pizza from them, but if I'm in the area and it's late, I could be lured in to grab a slice so I won't rule out a future return.
(3)Chris G.
Good pie. Sometimes it's a little slow, others the line gets out of control and confusing. But those are problems easily solved by a slice and a coke. :-)

Big slices, okay prices. Happy hour was from 4_7 , dollar off beer n cider. Cider is Gluten free and all natural. Yum. I had just a regular cheese slice. They are thin and crispy. But not a whole lot of flavor. Very friendly staff, upbeat and seem to enjoy their jobs. Good amount of seats. Not great for a huge group tho, as you may occupy the entire place. The salad dressing is vegan, not bad tasting at all!
(3)Mary M.
Pros: Good prices Great selection of flavorful vegan/vegetarian food Nice staff Laid back environment Open late Cons: None

I can never resist the temptation to go in here whenever I'm in the neighborhood, which is pretty much always because I find myself in Powell's across the street a lot. The pizza is great, and this particular day I was here it was hotter than hell inside, but I guess that's to be expected when the building is painted black from top to bottom on the outside and it's pretty warm out; add to that that it's a fairly small place on the inside and there's a huge pizza oven right there behind the counter. But that doesn't detract from anything, in my opinion, it was just an observation from that day. There is limited outside seating (I think I saw one table out there), but that's mainly because there isn't really that much space out there for them to really spread out. The service was excellent and the guy behind the counter was super friendly. I already know that I'll be back next time I'm in town.

There is nothing I love more than greasy, thin crust pizza. Sizzle Pie is just that! This place is just another reason why I'm glad I don't live in Portland. I would be insanely over-weight because I'd eat here on the regular. I can only imagine how amazing their pizza would taste when you are incredibly drunk or hungover. The only complaint I have is that it's a little pricey just for a slice, but I guess the price fits since they sell gigantic slices. Also, a pizza place, that is actually really good, that delivers late at night?! C'mon, Long Beach! Take some pointers from Sizzle Pie!
(5)RIbbon M.
Great NY style (kinda) pizza. The crust is thin but still has some body to it. The red sauce is really good. I'm pretty sure they use whole milk ricotta - at least it tastes like it, sweet and creamy. Lots of spinach on my half. The ol' dirty half was too hot for me, but not for my spicy loving friend. One complaint: too loud. Music too loud. I'm 120 years old apparently. What? I said I'm 120 years old...
(4)Lolo F.
This place consistently delivers amazing tasting pizza. I live in the neighborhood and go here far too often. Way better than lonesome's aka "Dante's"
(5)Giles C.
You know what, this pizza isn't that good. I've experienced this in other towns, some local pizza place gets a buzz, everyone calls it the shit and everyone just starts thinking it's the shit. It's not the shit. It's just thin, greasy, salty pizza.
(2)Shar C.
I can't do a very long review of this place because I've only been there once, but I have to say that this place serves pretty good pizza. I love the variety of options you can get here: regular, vegetarian, and even vegan. I ordered the Francesca pizza slice (smoked mozzarella, jalapeños, and pineapple) and the Word salad (red leaf lettuce salad with safflower oil and vegan pink peppercorn white wine vinegarette). Both tasted amazing, but I should have opted to try a vegan pizza. There's an abundance of pies on the menu, but they only have few varieties for their individual slices. My friend ordered the Let Us Play Your Party pizza slice (a great vegan option) and the Rabbit salad. The Rabbit salad had an amazing vegan dressing. You've gotta try it! If I ever come back to Portland I'm definitely stopping by again!
(4)Valerie W.
I have some indifferent feelings about Sizzle Pie. They have good pizza, but is it great? Meh. Me thinks it's alright. I had a slice of whatever it's called that has the smoked mozz, pineapple, and jalapenos. I added some Siracha and garlic seasoning and called it good. It was fairly tasty not gonna lie. I can also appreciate the fact they sell a few select beers. The inside is small and hard to find a seat. Luckily they have outdoor seating as well. I would definitely come back to try a different slice!
(3)Cheryl R.
Decent pizza by the slice. The salads also looked tasty, though I didn't try one on this visit. Order at the counter, they'll call you by number when it's ready. Small dining area inside, and 3 tables outside on the sidewalk which is great for those warm summer days (especially when so few businesses in the PacNW have air conditioning). Less than a block away from Powell's bookstore. A very good place to grab a quick bite while walking about downtown PDX.

My friends and I were hella high on acid that day, and skated the Burnside skatepark too. After booking our room at Ace Hotel, we randomly found this spot around the block. This place has a alternative vibe, the employees and interior. It kind of reminds me of Haight-Ashbury or UC Berkeley. The pizzas were unconventional and unique flavors. The big slices were hella damn delicious. I also came back here for more after drinking at random bars around downtown. During my acid trip, I had a deep perspective on this city, skyline, climate, and it's culture. That perspective all made sense why the locals wanted to "Keep Portland Weird". I'm definitely coming back here again if I ever stop by Portlandia.
(5)Marc E.
Its okay, atmosphere cool tho. If you like thin crust then this place will work for you.
(3)Elizabeth M.
Hands down, best vegan pizza and salads in town! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! Why only 3 stars? Sadly, the staff never seem to know whats going on! I have ordered pies to go over 20 times, and how many times do you think they got it right? Yup, ZERO! That's too bad, because I love this place! (Take the staff out of the review, 5 STARS all the way!!!) I recommend you guys to my friends, family and even my patients... and the #1 complaint I hear back? you guessed it... the staff! I won't give up on you, but hope to see you guys pull it together in the furture!
(3)Zaphod B.
Excellent and imaginative pies. Old school punk music gently blasts. Handful of craft beers, some on tap. Vegan and gluten-free options. Yes, the GF crust is vegan. AND they recently added delivery service to some areas, which is awesome. Hard to beat the Rick Moranis / Dark Helmet / Space Balls "Sizzle Pie - The Movie" covers on their pizza boxes too. Favorite pizza so far is the New Maps Out Of Hell. Where else has Soy Curls as a topping??
(4)Ginger F.
Decided to give Sizzle Pie a shot for a late night delivery. I placed my order and was given an estimated wait time of 1 hour. Seriously? I know pizza takes a while to bake, but the cardboard crust that they use couldn't have taken long. And I get it, they were probably busy (mind you it was a Monday night). I thought maybe they were being generous, hoping to under promise and over deliver. I live less than 5 minutes away. Fast forward an hour and 20 minutes later, and the pizza finally gets delivered. I was really disappointed. Cold pizza, super thin and flimsy crust, and sever lack of cheese. I ordered the cheese steak pizza so I expected some cheese. I was pretty disappointed. Skip it and go somewhere else.
(1)Jesy B.
Welp it seems they musta worked out the kinks because when we dropped by on a late Friday evening, the service was prompt and helpful. The cheerful pizzatender explained what they had pretty simply - the top is vegan, middle is vegetarian and bottom is ANYTHING GOES! They had a lot of slices so I kind of stared blankly at all the options. I went with The Gold Ring and it was so freaking good - and I love their crust. They have a good deal if you want a salad - slice & salad is $6. Plus of course they have the beers. Now, I was kinda bummed their beer was bottled but hopefully that'd change in the near future (or I just happened to order a beer that was bottled and they have taps? I didn't pay attention to the same so...ya know). I will be back. And back..and back...mmmmm, good pizza.
(5)Andrew A.
You might see this suggestion for every pizza place I review: someone please offer deep dish! Yes, yes, thin, wood fired is great, but throw a rock and you're bound to hit a place that offers it. It would be welcomed if some entrepreneur goes old-school Chicago and distinguishes themselves from the pack. Okay, at Sizzle Pie I believe we had a special, something with scrambled egg on it. Obviously, not too memorable, but I do remember saying it was good. Seems like people like concoctions involving vodka sauce, so we'll have to try The Bender or Good Luck in Jail. The staff is a bit edgy: black drab clothes-I just rode my bike to work - don't you walk in here with brand name clothes resembling a 9 to 5er - attitude. No seating on a Saturday, but it's in a very busy part of Downtown. A decent place if you're craving a slice and walking this part of town, service was fast. I'm glad they opened.
(3)Maggie E.
Love it! Probably more impressively, while I'd probably be described as part of Sizzle Pie's average Portland yupster demographic, I went with someone who's (a) an old-world pizza purist, and (b) amused and a little confused by the Portland hipster scene, and he loved it too! Ranked it among his top two favorite slice places in Portland, and also loved the people-watching. I'm usually not a fan of faux-meat, but I would highly highly HIGHLY recommend the buffalo jackfruit sausage pizza, when they have it. Like no other vegetarian meat substitute I've ever tasted. Incredible!
(4)Adam B.
Wow... This pizza sucks. A nice effort to be a "rock" joint, but the style is stale and the pizza is all concept yet tasteless. Seriously, don't support this place.
(1)Marcus O.
i've only been here once so i can't really comment on any other pizza -- but i sure wish there was a way to get back to sizzle pie again. i was standing in powell's trying to decide where to eat. i pulled this joint up on the crappy version of the mobile yelp app (windows phone) and thought maybe it drew four stars by sheer location power alone. i was wrong. young vibe, very hip. seating is tight. if you can get it, you'll enjoy a bank of windows that proudly display an active corner of portland's pearl district. their specialty seems to be ordering by the slice -- evident by the large display of pies, ordering at the bar, etc... their slice and salad special is pretty awesome. about $6. well, we were a hungry party of four so we plopped down for their largest pizza possible, ending up with a perfect ensemble of flavor known only as the universal order of parmageddon. it was epic. :) my only complaint is that since they cater heavily to by-the-slice orders, the time it took to get our pizza was also epic -- as in epic length of time, the iliad and the odyssey, etc... which in modern terms equates to ~28 mins.
(4)Daniel P.
Almost east coast vegan style pizza. They go a little thin on the crust which I like But it hinders the crispiness a touch. Always fun And tasty vegan options. Good jams on the stereo and a killer jukebox. Budget friendly Pearle eats. Nah mean?
(4)Tamara K.
Stopped in here a few nights ago for a quick slice before hitting a few bars for a holiday crawl. I ordered a slice of the veggie pizza. It was a lot of crust and not a lot of topping. Why not spread the love of tomato sauce to at least a couple of inches from the edge? I had a good 3 inches with nothing but crust. And what toppings that were on it were pretty bland. Had to dress it up with hot sauce. What's with the head banger music BLARING from the juke box?! It's not like this place caters to elderly who are hard at hearing so wouldn't hurt to turn the music down. They have one bathroom and it smelled like an outhouse at a beer fest that hadn't been cleaned for days. NO toilet paper, either. I will stick with the one on the east side next time I crave a slice of pizza.
(2)David B.
I recently had the misfortune of having a slice of something (definitely not pizza) at the Sizzle Pie across from Powell's. I chose Sizzle Pie because it was late and it was open. I thought it would better than driving through McDonald's or Taco Bell up the street. There were no customers in the restaurant but, unfortunately for me, two women entered just before I did. The woman behind the counter--you may have seen her, she looks like she's wearing a funny nose and glasses get up, arms covered in tats, black hair, could give a crap about doing her job--knew one of the women who walked into the 'restaurant' before me. Acting as if I were invisible (maybe I was, it had been a long day) the woman behind counter spent a good 10 minutes catching up with her friend and getting to know her friend's friend before even taking their order...a slice each and a salad each. She then proceeded to prepare their salads, all the while chatting about her boyfriend in L.A. and what a wonderful summer romance they had and she was thinking about flying down to see him and aren't these salads the best and on and on and on. All I wanted was a slice and a self-serve soft drink. Had she asked me before moving on to the salad making, she could've easily popped my slice into the warmer and then started creating her leafy masterpieces. A minute later, she could've taken a 15 second break from said masterpieces to throw my warmed up slice of 'pizza' at me sending me on my merry way. Instead, I got to wait there like an idiot while she tossed their salads all the while chatting, chatting, chatting about the boyfriend and whether or not it's going to develop into anything meaningful with him being in L.A. and all and blah, blah, blah. So another 10 minutes passes and when she's finally done with the salads and their slices are toasty warm, she serves 'em up and then, finally, asks what I'd like, as if she hadn't seen me until that very moment. Twenty long, long, long minutes after I walked in. I ordered something that turned out to have a garlic paste spread across it like jam and it was disgusting. AND after warming it up, it wasn't even warm. Plus it tasted like it had been sitting around for hours, maybe days. Perhaps I ordered wrong. Should've gone with the cheese slice. But I figured, after 20 minutes I may as well go for broke and order one of their proprietary concoctions that only they would dare offer (so edgy). At least the soft drink was watery. My advice, don't go to Sizzle Pie on W. Burnside. If you do and you see a woman who looks like she's wearing a funny nose and glasses behind the counter, run. Taco Bell is open 24 hours, they're just up the street.

Maybe I set my expectations too high but I wasn't impressed with this place. I've had better vegan pizza from the frozen section. I got the angel of doom and it wasn't gross but pretty chewy and just meh. The bread sticks weren't great either. The service was friendly but kinda slow. I doubt I'll be back.
(2)Dresden C.
This is a totally divey, but delicious pizza joint. You get my vote right away when you carry a good brand of cider and have a gluten free crust option. The atmosphere inside is dark with punk rock blasting, but we got quick service and the pizza was on point. I got a gluten free pizza with salami and green olive. My brother got one loaded with meatballs, pepperoni, and bacon. And our friends got one with white sauce, spinach and garlic. It was all very good. I would definitely go here every time i'm in Portland.
(4)Mike R.
I went here because it was late and I was hungry. All of the other reviews are right. It has lots of by-the-slice pizza that you have to wait for, wipe the grease off, and just really be underwhelmed... Actually maybe that is a better way to describe my visit...I was underwhelmed. Nothing about it was fantastic. Nothing about it made it stand out. The food was edible and I have had much worse...but I've had much better. I'll go here again...but likely only on my way home from the bars when I am drunk (and my standards are typically lower).
(2)Aneilia M.
Great pizza by the slice and salads. Many vegetarian and vegan options. Just wanted a quick, good lunch and found it here. Filling after walking around all morning.
(4)Ana R.
I call this place, a classy "hot lips". The pizza is delicious, with plenty meaty and vegetarian/vegan options. The cheese is tasty and not greasy. I was surprised to see that my husband's pepperoni wasn't soaked in oil. The only critique I have is that the music was a tad loud both times I've been there. But that won't keep me away from their succulent pizza (will just avoid the place when having a headache)
(4)Jeff M.
A Haiku Review of Sizzle Pie: Salad and a slice. This combo will fill you up with deliciousness.
(4)Ethan D.
Tasty, unique pizza by the slice (many of which had egg on them, yum!), bomb salads, hard rocker meets vegetarian hipster vibe, convenient locations in between Powell's City of Books and Living Room Theater, what's there not to like? The pizza isn't quite "as good as it gets" and neither is the rocker atmosphere for a guy like me, but overall a pretty damn good quick meal can be had here. Great place to hit before or after Powell's or a movie at Living Room. Not a great place to take a date or the whole family, haha. Well, unless you're a family of vegetarians who love heavy metal...
(4)Carol P.
The establishment benefits enormously by its location, which is directly across the street from Powell's. The service is just this side of hostile and the interior is dark and scuzzy, yet somehow it doesn't feel like a genuine pit. Oh, it IS a pit, no doubt, complete with shabby interior and deafening music, and I saw at least six people wearing identical thin knit caps while I waited for my slices last night, but it still feels strained, like for some reason they've really TRIED for what they've achieved, the surliness and the wholesale unattractiveness, as though a friendly welcome and a clean, well-lit place wouldn't be deeply "real." And the pizza? If the pizza were great then maybe they'd have earned their attitude. The pizza, however, is adequate. No more than that. Adequate. I was REALLY hungry after getting settled into a nearby hotel after 10:00 pm or I wouldn't have gone there at all, they made such an impression on me several years ago, and they haven't changed at ALL. It's in no way tricked out like a tourist trap but I have a hard time imagining anybody making a point of going there who's even vaguely familiar with other options in the neighborhood.
(2)Paige Z.
the best pizza in portland. do not walk, run!!!
(5)Jason G.
Meh, your standard one slice pizza joint. Huge slice; delicious if drunk, nothing special otherwise. I saw the woman I came in with "shotgun" a pizza slice here. For the curious/uninformed like I was, that's where you roll the pizza up into as much of a cylinder as you can and just chomp it. The slice disappears quickly and then she stares at you with a challenging look on her face. It's awkward yet really exciting. I feel like if pizza grew in the wild, that's how people would eat it.. Anyway, go if your drunk and lazy; elsewise go somewhere more delicious. Or simply get more drunk and come back.
(3)Diane C.
I walked by this place on my way to Powell's several times and what can I say the shiny bright lights got me! I went in for lunch and grabbed a slice! I really believe that a hallmark of a good city is pizza by the slice. Sizzle did not disappoint. They have a lot of great vegan, vegetarian, and interesting options. They allow a full slice or a cut (half of a slice)...LOVE THAT! I went with a cheese slice to test out what Sizzle Pie's working with...It's the good stuff. My slice was reminiscent of a NYC pizza slice, so i folded it half and went to town. Cannot wait to go back again.
(4)Paula L.
This is far the best vegan pizza I've ever had! I ate there for lunch and dinner today and will miss eating there when I leave Portland. Very unique combinations.
(5)Jeziell B.
Went here real quick because my husband remembers getting a pizza while he was out late at night last time he was in Portland. I think it's pretty unique that they offer not only slices, but half slices, especially since they have so many options one would like to try. They also seem very vegan friendly, which is cool if that's what you're looking for.
(3)Scott A.
Sizzle Pie has a convient location right in the heart of Portland and every time I ride the street car past it, I tend to jump off and grab a slice (especially if its during happy hour with you can get a slice of pizza and a beer for around $4). They have a unique selection for pizzas that are tasty and fresh and are great for a quick meal after a day of exploring at Powell's City of Books which is right across the street. The pizza itself is average and honestly forgettable, but I've never walked out with spending more then $5 so I'm a frequent guest.
(4)David C.
Pizza is mediocre at best. Soggy crust; somewhat flavorless. Salads are pretty good. But if you just want a salad why are you in a pizza place? I say skip it and try somewhere better.
(2)Lisa K.
I was happy that it was open, had some seating, had some beer, and kind of incentivized salad by having a particularly affordable slice + salad deal. I was not as happy with all the vegan options (not inherently bad of course, but I felt like they were taking up valuable real estate) and the overly loud music. But it was fine!
(3)Ashley L.
Great late night spot. Creative menu with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I tried The Ol' Dirty (salami, ricotta, olive oil, pepperoncini), Police & Thieves (spinach, mushroom) and Cheese (plain). All were good, but not memorably so. I did, however, think their thin crust was fantastic. You can also order a half slice (cut) which is a good option for more variety.
(3)Kristen M.
I love their pizza! I don't care if it's for vegans or vegetarians or just for carni-whores, every flavor is unbelievable!!!!!! Great ("junk/drunk" insert your word of choice) food! I usually head out to their original location on E Burnside since it's not in such a sketchy area. This sophomore location opened up a year after the original venue had a debut. I was with a bunch of buddies so I wasn't too skeptical about this visit. What I love about Sizzle Pie is that you can order a slice or cut. Usually I can't decide and order 2 cut pieces (because it equals out to be a slice and I can try other flavors as well). What did I try on this visit? OL' DIRTY sounds disgusting right? But don't let this title fool you! This pizza is made out of pepperoni, julienned slices of pepperoncini, pieces of ricotta cheese and olive oil. You definitely get some heat from the pepperoncini, but it's quite devilishly delightful!!!! KARP sounds like CR*P right??? Well for one thing, it certainly doesn't taste like it! K (kalamata olives) + A (artichoke hearts) + R (Ricotta) + P (Pesto made out of cilantro pepitas). This vegetarian option is quite tasty. I didn't even care that it was made for vegetarians! It's certainly a crowd pleaser amongst my carni-whore friends! Both flavors were definite yum factors in my book. I'm a definite fan of Sizzle Pie and wouldn't mind grabbing a slice or cut here again!
(5)Quinn W.
Upon reception of the pizza-pie my tastebuds acknowledged that the edibles were at room temperature. To my distaste, after exposing my mouth orifice to the bread sticks my tongue sent signals which my brain interpreted as "stale." The atmosphere was not very atmospheric for the non-drunkard type that one might consider me to be. Overall, It was an unfortunately misguided expenditure and the consumables were warmer (and more consumable) after exposure to the microwaves produced in the eatery known as my kitchen.
(1)Faith C.
Oh god. So I've been to the Eastside location before and the cheese pizza was fine. But last night my friend and I went to the Westside spot. I ordered two slices of this pizza that looked like it had sun-dried tomatoes and garlic and feta. We got the pizza to-go and when we got home and I bit into the first slice it was a nightmare. What I thought were sun-dried tomatoes were dried cranberries!!! And what I thought was garlic was sliced almonds!! What kind of a sick joke is that!?!?! I felt like I was the victim of a bored staff's prank. Honestly though, who puts dried cranberries and almonds on a pizza. Not cool. Anyway, if you wanna go there because it's open late I can understand that. But make sure you closely read the labels of what is in the pizza.
(1)Mickey B.
Pretentious, smart-mouthed kids serving up bad attitude for absolutely free. Yeah, remember when this was Roccos. Well, IT'S NOT ROCCOS ANYMORE. The customer service sucks, the pizza is garbage, and the abidance is trendy and overdone. Very much like their pizza. I wouldn't eat here again if they served it for free.
(1)Kevin K.
I've recently discovered Sizzle Pie and I can't enough! My first encounter was to refuel after a long (drunk) night out with friends. I was pleasantly surprised how light the pizza was. We wolfed down a few slices and trotted the rest of the way home. Maybe the vodka+sodas were messing with me, but I didn't feel lethargic/sluggish/fugly when I woke up for brunch. I rarely eat when I go out at night --- the extra calories and fake-hangover feelings aren't worth it! But something tells me that the slices there are magic and won't make you feel corpulent upon consumption. I figured I should give Sizz-Pie (my nickname for the joint) another try sans cocktails. They are located a hop and skip away from my office, manageable distance away from the crowded food carts. To my delight, they have an all-day special for $6 that includes a big-ass slice and a big-ass salad of my choosing. Lately I've been trying vegetarian options, so I scooped up a veggie slice and chose the "word" salad (they offer 3 different salads). Halle-freakin-lujah! The salad wasn't some janky, wilted bag-salad. It was a vibrant and tasty pile of greens that would satisfy those that detest salads. The slice was also just as good as I remembered from a few nights prior. Don't be surprised if I become the duke of the Westside location. Sizz-Pie is my new jam.
(4)Happ Y.
We came here three of the four nights we were in Portland. My boyfriend is from New York and super picky about pizza and loves this place too. Authentic New York style. Great beer selection too!
(5)Dana P.
Every slice is delicious and perfect for the vegan who wants to eat like everyone else but the staff and ambiance arent fantastic. Do you guys need to blast the people in line?
(3)Tim S.
Sizzle me this; the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Toto and Dorothy, where the F is Lion?! That fury son of a bitch found Sizzle Pie, grew some new lion balls, jumped ship and mowed down on that yummy PIE! Way to go Lion, you found one of the few pizza places in town that puts real hot peppers on their pizza pie! I'll take a large, pepperoni, sausage, hot peppers and red onion... Yum Yum Yummm!
(4)Anonymous M.
Lots of yummy specialty pizza's... very thin slices. Salad was very good as well. Place is right across from Powell's books
(5)David N.
We live on the west side so SP has become our sometimes alternative to driving cross town and waiting an hour at aPizza Scholls. The pies are fresh, thin crust, which suits our NY'er pizza sensibilities. An interesting variety of pies, with entertaining names. We really like the Ol' Dirty. Sometimes, it can be a bit too hipster for me, with really loud grundge blasting, but that's how they roll. I'll be back.
(4)Altaira N.
Yuuuuuuum!! I went here with a vegan gluten-free friend, and through clenched teeth agreed to split a vegan, gluten-free pizza with her. I recalled all of the times she had made us pizza with a frozen gluten-free crust saying that it tasted 'just like' the real thing. I was prepared to be horribly disappointed. SURPRISE!! The pizza we got was absolutely heavenly. The crust was wonderful, and if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have guessed that it was gluten-free. I also appreciate that the solution to vegan pizza for these guys was not simply smothering everything with Daiya (Daiya IS an option and does come on some of their vegan pizzas, but not all of them). They also have a good selection of veggies to top your pizza with. Once your pie arrives at your table, there are a wide variety of condiments to choose from such as Sriracha, Nutritional Yeast, and even vegan Parmesan cheese if it strikes your fancy. I can't wait to go back and try their gluten, non-vegan options!! NOM NOM NOM.

Mmm... Sizzle Pie, how I miss thee. Having grown up in NY, I have high standards for pizza. Or, I have very basic standards (chewy dough, stringy cheese, yummy tomato sauce; really, I don't ask for much) that many find difficult to meet. I was in Portland for a few days, and managed to go here three times. Not once, not twice, but three times. That's a lot, considering I also had to try all the food trucks, Bunk sandwiches, and the breweries. Needless to say, I was in love. The first time at Sizzle, we did a large half and half with Pig Destroyer and Napalm Breath, and a large Word salad. And beers, of course (they have a nice selection of canned craft beers that I think were only $3-4). I had actually ordered a regular salad, but the girl messed up my order and rang up a large one, but it was so good I didn't complain. The second time, we got the "slice and a salad for $6" deal. The slices weren't as yummy as the whole pie we had the first time, but pizzas are always better fresh out of the oven, so won't hold it against them. As much as I love pizza, I love me a good salad. The Word salad is addictive! Simple, yet refreshing. It's made me rethink red leaf lettuce (who knew?). The third time I went, I think it was more for the salad than the pizza. To top it all off, I heard there was a recent Ryan Gosling spotting at one of the locations. Good pizza, beer, AND Ryan Gosling? Can one be so darn lucky? Sigh. I miss Portland. And I miss Sizzle Pie.
(5)Molly H.
I orderd a pizza here and accidentally they sent me a regular instead of a large I mentioned this to the delivery boy and a new pizza was at my door in less than a half hour. They are so kind the chef even wrote am apology note on the box.
(5)Carlos A.
Love this place, I stop in randomly all the time. Some reviewers complain about things I've never seen. Get your food and be happy, seriously.
(5)Chris R.
So far one of the best Pizza's I've had in Portland! I live in the NW area and decided to do the late night delivery, which runs from 6pm to 2:45am Sun-Thurs & 3:45am Fri-Sat. I'm usually not a fan of any of the pre-made pie options at most pizza joints but a lot of the vegetarian options, and I'm not a vegetarian, sounded delicious! The Hawkwind, Spinach, Feta, Dried Cranberries and Shaved Almonds in an Olive Oil base, would make for a good option if you were looking for something different than the standard pizza but I was in the mood for a carnivorous pizza feast so I went with the Pig Destroyer, Pepperoni, Meatballs, Bacon, and added Spinach to throw a little green in there. My one complaint is the price did come to around $20 for the regular 12" pizza which was a little overpriced but I was quite satisfied with only half of the pie. The taste of the pizza though is where most of my stars lie, as they should, and the combination of the melt in your mouth housemade meatballs, crispy bacon in full strips, lightly spicy pepperoni, and the crispy but slightly chewy wood-fired crust was out of this world! Not to mention they had a long waiting time, an hour and a half, but got to my place in only 30 minutes. I will definitely be returning to try some of the more interesting combos but hands down, Sizzle Pie, has my vote for the best late nite pizza delivery in Portland!

Good vegan pizza! I have never had vegan pizza before, but actually I found it very delicious. I came out with a pleasantly delicious feeling.

The pizzas are creative, but I wasn't impressed. They need to bring the staff to a NY pizzeria so they can see how it's done. Bada bing bada bang and you're slice is ready. At Sizzle Pie, I had to wait like 5 minutes for my slices, plus 15+ minutes before that in line. They do have a lot of vegetarian and vegans options though, not that I chose one of those, but it's nice of them.

Sizzle Pie needs help. All subjectivity aside, Sizzle Pie's pizza crust is too thin. This is their primary problem. Even if you like thin crust pizza, Sizzle Pie's pizza crust is too thin. Why? Two reasons: 1. When making pizza dough, the more you handle it, the chewier the crust gets. Sizzle Pie's crust is chewy. Too chewy. Jaw achingly chewy. 2. Thin crust prevents proper sauce levels. Sure, with oven temps so high and dough thrown so thin, thin crust can be exceptionally crisp and crisp crust pizza is nice. But to maintain crisp pizza, on an ultra-thin crust, you can't put adequate sauce levels, or oily toppings on top. But Sizzle Pie doesn't understand this, so they skimp on the sauce and hope that the crust holds up to the oily toppings. But unfortunately, even cheese is too oily for the crust thickness of Sizzle Pie's pizza. So at Sizzle Pie, what you end up with is a pizza slice that is under-sauced, from the tip to the middle, but still soggy from oil. And the crust portion is crisp, on the bottom, but jaw-achingly chewy, on the top. The sad part is, all Sizzle Pie needs to do to improve their pizza, is to make the crust around an 1/8 of an inch thick and add a little more sauce. Those small changes would establish the proper barriers for sauce and oil and keep the crust crispy, not chewy, and juicy, but not doughy. Seems to me, Sizzle Pie is pursuing crust crispness, at the expense of pizza perfection.

EDIT/UPDATE: If you remember back in the news, it was later the very same day I had this experience @ West Side Sizzle, that they announced e-coli discovered in the West Side Water supply. Coincidence? You decide..... ..................................................Â..................................................Â........................................ The heavily-truncated, Reader's Digest version: Yuuuuuuuuuck. The 'slightly more elaborate' review: My first trip here recently turned out to be the very model of the "Stages of Grief"... Nowadays you will frequently see a 5 stage version, or 7 stages. Since this is the 12" dance remix version of the Yelp review, we'll go w/the 7 stage version.... -- With the first few bites, it was "fail to register" -- even w/the pie slices heavily augmented by yeast, hot sauce, ground pepper, garlic, etc--- giving way directly into the "Shock and Denial" stage... the denial lasting all the way from the first slice (pepperoni) through the 2nd slice ("Police and Thieves" they call it, and not only will this pie leave you feeling robbed, it may even leave you feeling mugged!) and well into the third slice, where we were abruptly transported to.... --- Pain and Guilt, baby. Especially Guilt. According to Uncle Screwtape, this is the ultimate compromising position for demons to lead humans into--- making choices to do things we not only know we shouldn't be doing, but that we don't even wind up enjoying. --- Anger and Bargaining. There wasn't much time for anger, there was scarcely time to even begin to fathom what the heck was going on. I hadn't even finished the third slice, and my poor unsuspecting GI tract was already reeling from the first slice. Total sensory overload. Hence we were fast-tracked right into bargaining: "Just don't let me lose it out here in public... at least let me make it to...the....loo........" Having always had the very questionable gift of a cast-iron gullet, this was almost n-e-v-e-r a sensation I have ever had to struggle with: that of imminent projectile vomiting. However, the bargaining seemed to have worked, and got me away from the scene of the crime, so to speak w/no desire to return. There wound up being no vomiting or any other sort of shock and awe in the loo. But make no mistake. This is where the downward spiral continued.... ---Depression, loneliness, self-loathing, regret: check check check check. Why do we do these things to ourselves??? Why oh whyyyy??? de profundis clamavi ad te domine.... --- Upward Turn Stage. Physical, mental, and emotional relief descended as quickly as my previous ease had vanished....voce mea ad Dominum clamavi et exaudivit me de monte sancto suo diapsalma ---RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH STAGE: I re-traced my steps. I and my co-workers had enjoyed late night pies, both from East-Side Sizzle as well as Hammy's many times in past years. So it couldn't be blamed on the brand or the product or the ungodly hour of the night. Sometimes bad things just HAPPEN. Rain falls on the just and unjust alike, and all that.... --- ACCEPTANCE AND HOPE STAGE: I've never been one to be able to nurture grudges. However, I also happen to have a pretty keen long term memory. Hope abounds. This incident, whatever it was, was nothing personal. That's why this Yelp review is two stars and not one, or one with the highly embittered caveat "I only gave it one b/c you can't give ZERO stars, arrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh!"

The slice and salad deal was the perfect combination! There were plenty of vegetarian choices, which hardly ever happens at popular pizza joints. The shop was busy, and decided to get our pizza to go. It was wrapped nicely and they included plates and forks! Will be eating there again!

I live down the street and always order sizzle pies for takeout... They are always ready in 20 minutes and the pizza is incredibly good. The Don Caballero and Raising Arizona are my favorites so far, but I would try them all. I love they're gluten free crust and the peppercorn sauce is so addicting!!!!

What a poor experience. I came in here last week with my mom. We were both excited to get pizza, as it's not something either of us generally can eat (since she doesn't eat tomatoes, and I don't eat dairy/wheat). First, some good things about this place: -my mom liked her pizza -one of the employees was friendly -they have a lot of stuff for people who are dietarily special The bad: -long line + took a long time for us to actually place an order with the dude. The guy who took our order was nice though, so my mom left him a 30% tip (I'm sure that this was also because thought he was cute). We thought that this might mean that good service would continue through our experience here, but we were wrong. -when I ordered my pizza, I was told it might take 15-20 minutes to come out. While I was a little disappointed to hear this, I a) assumed it was probably an overestimation, and b) understood that it was going to take a bit to make me a pizza, rather than just dish me out a slice. -my moms single slice of pizza took TWENTY minutes to come out. Ten orders that were placed after ours were served before she got her food. -My pizza took THIRTY THREE minutes to come out. By the point it came out, my mom was long finished with her food, and I was super hungry, and also really irritated. I said to the guy who brought it out that it had taken 40 minutes to get my pizza, and that that was way too long of a ticket time at lunch, and that I was disappointed. He started to lecture me about how long pizzas take to make and how if I was told only 15-20 minutes, I was told wrong. He then left and came back a minute later with a fresh print out of our receipt, to tell me that I was wrong. It hadn't taken 40 minutes, it was only 33.... At which point I let him know that he was not being helpful, and that I'd like to just go ahead and eat my food. Also, that 33 minutes was still an unacceptable ticket time at lunch. I've worked in restaurants, too. I know how it goes -- as the person delivering the food, you are not necessarily in charge of ticket times. You are, however, in charge of giving good customer service. If someone has been waiting what for them was a super long time for their food, even if that time to you seems like a ridiculously short amount of time to wait for food, it is your responsibility to say something along the lines of 'woah dude, I'm sorry you had to wait! It's because we were putting EXTRA love in it for you. Here's your food now. Doesn't it look great? Can I get you anything else?' And it is never, ever, ever appropriate for you to try to have a petty argument with a customer. Especially not while they're trying to eat. And in the end? The pizza wasn't that great. I would never come back to this restaurant, nor would I recommend it to anyone I liked at all. Oh yeah, also? The gluten free pizzas are way too expensive. We paid about $20 for a small pizza.
(1)Doug T.
If you like salty pizza with bland crust, loud obnoxious music and employees who don't give a sh*t about customers' dislike of it, this place is for you. I won't be returning. Hot Lips has FAR SUPERIOR pizza and music that doesn't make you cringe. Don't GO!
(1)Irene L.
Had the pesto pizza. It was yummy as heck! Would come back.
(4)Courtney D.
Overall this place is Meh to Average. It's one of those overhyped hipster places. I think the cashier could cover her boobs a little more. My wife and I had a small salad, a small vegetable pizza, and some drinks and it came out to over $30 with a standard 20%. That's really expensive for Portland! Also why should I tip before I have received service? The pizza was pretty good but didn't justify the lackluster salad. Lastly don't get the Ranier beer it tastes like they added water to it.
(2)Lauren B.
Didn't particularly like my Ol' Dirty (some sort of salami, pepperoncini, and ricotta) cause 1) I wasn't thinking about the fact that I don't think I like ricotta and 2) it didn't have tomato sauce, which I didn't quite realize. Is this a flaw with Sizzle Pie? Non, it was my bad, which is why I'm giving 4 stars even tho I only enjoyed it 3 stars. Also the pepperoni was quite tasty. Oh and they had an A+ tasty crust.

I miss Rocco's. I'm glad another pizza place opened in their spot though. The non-chain, craft pizza places are getting harder to find these days. So me and a buddy pop into this place for lunch on a crappy rainy day. I order a Caligula salad and a slice of Francesca (the pizza, not the girl). We sit at the bar along the window watching people get soaked as they walk to Powell's. The pizza was premade and in a display case so they had to warm in up in the oven and make my salad. It was ready in about 5 minutes. It came piled on a tin pizza plate. Unusual but I guess they don't have to worry about breakage. The pizza was thin crust and crispy. Just the way I like it. For toppings it had fresh jalapenos, pineapple and smoked mozzarella. Sweet and spicy with a hint of sultry smoke, I see why they named it Francesca. As I was eating, I noticed the music was exceptionally good. Motley Crue when they didn't suck. I glanced over at the juke box and was pleasantly surprised. High on Fire, Orange Goblin, Slayer, Iron Maiden, I haven't seen this cool of music in a juke box in forever. Ah...the music of my youth. It put a smile on my face. All that for $7, good deal. The bottom line: Food: *** Service: *** Price: **** Ambiance: **** 3 and a half, round up to 4.
(4)Orian I.
This is one decent slice. not too spendy and easily able to fold in half. none of this Donald trump nonsense. variety of carnivorous and veggie/vegan options, this pizzeria will also cater to gluten and dairy free..(grumble) open late and next to one of the better bars on east burnside? check lots of seating? check kick ass patio? check crunchy tasty crust? check. check out their brunch options on the weekends as well delicious.
(4)Sara P.
The pizza was pretty good but the guy behind the register was so rude I would tell every one to skip this place! Yes they have a sign up to bus your own tables, but they have no signage for recycling. Getting mocked for throwing away my beer can when they have no other place to put it besides the dish bin is pretty shocking. Nice way to treat the customer who's purchase is paying your wages. Get your pizza some where else!
(2)Michael W.
Sizzle Pie was one of the first pizza places I tried after moving to Portland and ever since I have frequented this place on my way home from the bar or after shows at the Crystal and other westside venues. The atmosphere is alternative and the staff go with it. They have a few beers to choose from (Ninkasi!) and their pizza is a solid New York style. When I lived in the NW I would order delivery from them every once in a while - the Pig Destroyer was my favorite; great meat lovers pizza - and they were usually faster than their estimated delivery time. One thing to note: if you order after 12AM I think they require a card. I guess too many drivers got stiffed by drunken orderers falling asleep or something. If you are grabbing a slice ask for a punch card because they aren't advertised as well as Hot Slice's so you need to be on top of getting that free slice. (I don't think I've ever used slice three times in a sentence before now!)
(4)Kelsey K.
This place was no Roccos... Or anywhere near hot lips. They tried and failed. If you want hipster atmosphere and service, dried out burnt pizza. This is the place.
(2)Maggie O.
Yo! I love me a slice o' the sizz pie, I cannot lie, I won't try to deny but I gotta testify! THE LADIES WHO WORK HERE NEED TO RESTRAIN THEIR LONG ASS WAVES IN SOME BUNS AND HAIRNETS. (and maybe a few dudes, but ladies are the main offenders. I'm a downtown-rat and I'm in here often, tempting fate to lay a stray strand on my otherwise holy piece of pie. The first two times I went were two nights in a row and each night two different employees had their hair flowin' errywhere. Stopped in just this last Friday night and saw another repeat offender. Sizzle Pie; do something about this. Then I'll get you that five star rating we both know you're worth. Or hire me, I need a job and I got my hair on lockdown.
(1)Amanda O.
A nice quick slice - nothing WOW about it but the nice thin crispy crust-good flavor a convenient price. Will come back on lazy kitchen days
(3)Andrew H.
I'm a big fan of Sizzle Pie. I stop by for a slice or two at least once a week. I love that they are open late, have many options(including vegan), and have a great collection of music on the jukebox. The only thing I really don't care for is that a few of the employees are rude and have a i'm too punk for the world type vibe. If you work a customer service job, then be fucking nice to somebody who is nice to you. If you don't like people, then go find a job where you can be in isolation. Nevertheless, several of the dudes who work here are cool as hell and I enjoy seeing and talking to. Great pizza and I will continue visiting frequently.
(4)Greg B.
Steve Cabellero pie rocks! This place is one of my favorite places in Portland to grab a quick bite to eat.
(4)Amy L.
Tried the Vegan Angel of doom and the vodka sauce one. Loved the Angel of doom the most. They use Daiya!! Very tasty pizza. If you love thin crust pizza like me this place is for you, not too greasy. Lots of yummy vegan/vegetarian options. I would go back again. Opens late, especially good after a chill night of drinking around town.

My life has been forever changed now that Sizzle Pie has taken over the old Rocco's spot. It's everything I've come to love from the east side location--great pizza by the slice [vegan or otherwise], loud music, great staff--but within walking distance at work. The New Year is so much better. I think I've resolved to eat her many, many times a week if this week was any indication. For being "new" they handle the lunch game like champs. There is a steady line from pizza case to the door, but it moves quickly. The guys behind the counters know how to handle the crowd. One person takes your pizza order and starts to reheat it [if that is even necessary. The turnover is so ridiculous that your pie is almost always fresh], then you move on to the register to add anything else to your order and pay. I never wait longer than 5-8 minutes total from walking in to having my pizza in hand. Make sure you use the pizza slice punch card. All slices fall in the $3-$4 range but the star of the show is the killer deal of any slice and any of their three salads for $6. If you get it "for here" instead of to go, I swear your salad is 10x bigger. They use a small pizza pan and half of your pan is salad. The slice takes up the other half. Totally balanced meal. It's impressive. They go light on the dressings and use super fresh ingredients, just like on the pizza. I don't know why I never tried their salads before, but they're pretty much the best thing ever [next to the pizza, of course]. I have yet to really have a bad slice from either of their locations. The creativity is top notch both in combinations and in pizza titles. I seriously can't wait to take the office here for a work lunch trip. The O_o look on their faces alone for the punk/metal scene will be worth it. The pizza will be the icing on the cake. Which reminds me...pizza is the only pie better than cake.

I understand the fact that they just opened this new location not too long ago, so it's still in a process of training and etc. That's why I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 2 stars. My experience was really just 2 stars. We walked in, placed an order for one slice with all veggies and one meat slice (Pepperoni, ricotta, and Pepperoncini). We took our seats and the guy yelled out two slices, one veggie and one meat. We walked to the counter and asked him if those were ours. We weren't sure because the meat slice was smaller (we later found out it was a "cut" size) and didn't look like what I've ordered except it had pepperoni on it. He said yes those were ours. We walked back to our table and upon further inspection that Pepperoni slice wasn't the one I've ordered. We went back to the counter and told the guy and he said that those were not our order. Hmmmm...why did he say yes in the first place? He said he's going to replace the slice with the full size slice. While we were waiting, I munched on the cut slice and I didn't like it. Whatever was on that slice besides the Pepperoni didn't make that slice to be a good slice of pizza. I kinda regret that the guy was replacing the slice to be a whole slice. I ate most of it and the rest ended up in the trash. The veggie slice was good. Ingredients were fresh and it was a solid slice. I saw numbers for tables on the counter, I wonder why they don't use those numbers to avoid confusions especially on busy nights. I'm feeling 50/50 about this place. Maybe someday I will be back. At the moment, not sure.

Sizzle Pie is one step above Pizza Schmizza. Same idea, you could see what is available then order slices or whole pizza at the register and they call out your number when its ready. Their pizzas are better than decent but not amazing, so...its good! If you don't want to wait an hour or more to eat at a restaurant that serves artisan pizzas then Sizzle Pie would do the trick at satisfying a craving. I like that they have a cut (half a slice), its enough to make you content when you just want a snack and not feel guilty for eating a whole slice.
(3)Jess F.
Sizzle Pie is my 2nd favorite pizza in Portland. I am true to my favorite place but often eat Sizzle Pie because its my sisters favorite pizza place in Portland. Uh ya, we like pizza. So I was reading all the reviews and people need to adjust their expectations. Sizzle Pie is everything Portland. Eclectic recipes loaded with cheese and grease, nowhere near perfection and they don't give a damn about presentation. Its just good ole pizza. An escape for a hot mess. Booze is available. Patrons floating in from trouble. Just pure awesomeness. If you want a fancy pizza go somewhere else. If you want legit pizza, messy and yummy Sizzle Pie will not disappoint.
(5)james s.
It's a really good thing that they have the 3rd best pizza in town, because otherwise I don't think anyone would ever go there. The music they play is so consistently horrific that it is the only other thing worth mentioning in a review. I have never heard worse music in my life than what is consistently played there (loudly!) every single time I go in. I feel like I have Post-Sizzle Pie Stress Disorder after leaving it's so bad. I've never been anywhere that makes my mouth so happy and my ears so unhappy.
(4)Sara O.
Good pizza place but I usually never get to eat here. I called a few times and they said they should be delivering to north Portland soon. Can't wait!! Updated review after I can order delivery. Not many businesses deliver in the north Portland area and sometimes you just need a good pizza delivered! :)
(3)Christina D.
Every time I have to go into Portland, I stop in here. I can't speak for the reheated individual slices they sell since my fiancé and I always buy a full pizza and eat what we can there then take the rest home for later. Best pizza I've had yet. I love thin crust and when freshly made their slices are crunchy, hot, and heavenly. All of their toppings (that I've tried so far) are great. Even the time we got a pie that looked like had globs of minced garlic on it was fantastic but I'm partial to stronger flavors. Your mileage may vary. I am not sure if this place is overhyped like Voodoo but I didn't start eating here due to the name. They just make a damn good pizza.
(5)Heather F.
I've given it a couple chances, but I'm really not a fan of Sizzle Pie at all. It's a shame because I love pizza, but it really isn't worth stopping here. My first experience was take out - I ordered a cheese pie with peppers and onions. I didn't have any complaints until I found multiple hairs mixed in with the cheese (confirmed it wasn't mine by the fact that it was cooked into the toppings, and I have red hair, not brown). This isn't my first hairy food experience either, so I'm a bit concerned about Portland's health regulations (or lack thereof). But we all make mistakes, so I went back for another try. This time was equally dissatisfying. I stopped in and ordered a slice to go, which took FOREVER (typical). I just finished a very long day staring at a computer screen, so I was also irritated by the blasting metal (does anyone really listen to that by choice)? After a painful wait, I came to the conclusion that the pizza definitely wasn't worth this torture. Plus, it was so incredibly greasy that it leaked through my bag on the way home. A trip in here is only justified after a long night of MANY, MANY drinks IF all of the food carts are closed. So basically, never again.
(1)Nonny N.
I never knew vegan could be so delicious. Can't get enough of their pizza crust. But, OMG, their Rabbits salad with the vegan dressing is to die for. I wish that stuff came in a bottle that I could take home with me.
(4)Laura B.
Great pizzas with a cool atmosphere. Pizzas had punny names (the pig Lebowski, 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon) and were delicious. Saw some vegan friendly fare as well.
(4)David S.
The pizza here saved my life as if two slices were rubbed together and the waiter yelled 'clear' as it brought me back from near death.
(4)Flavia A.
When I'm tight on cash, this is place hits the spot for lunch. My fave is the Ol' Dirty, which is salami with ricotta and a coupla pepperoncinis. Their regular cheese slice is pretty good, too. I love "fine" pizza but one in a while I just crave a huge greasy ole slice of new york style, and this place satisfies. The behind the counter help are a little gruff, but hey - for around $4/meal, I ain't mad atcha.
(4)Angela M.
It's almost a joke to people who know me how much I like Sizzle Pie. When I first started coming here, I was still just a vegetarian and had way more options...which was mostly a bad thing. If you here for slices, there's always 3 vegan, 3 veggie, and 3 meat options to feast on, with 1 of each being a classic (spiral tap, cheese, and pepperoni). As I was saying, one of my first bites was of The Gold Ring, a delicious white pizza with goat cheese and truffle oil. Probably the best thing you could put in your mouth. Seriously. I still recommend this to my veggie/meaty friends and it has never disappointed. If I ever give up veganism, it will be for a slice of this. Then I became vegan. I had a slice of New Maps Out of Hell. Ummm umami? Actually, I'm no foodie, and I just recently learned that word in some trivia thing, but that's the only word I can think of to describe it. Like a savory, melt in your mouth. THEN, the Buffalo 666 slice came along and graced my tastebuds. Tangy and spicy. I'm a sucker for jackfruit. The one slice that always had my weary and standing at a distance was the Spiral Tap. I mean, it looks so plain and sad and gray next to the slices with all the toppings. I was forced...FORCED...to try a slice. WHAT'S THIS?! Sweet carmelized onions! If I could just have a cup of this and a spoon? Thanks! A NOTE ABOUT THE CRUST: Yes, it is thin. And it came SEEM overdone with it's cracker style. But I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be. I don't need bread getting in the way of these delicious toppings. I've asked for it different ways though(not heated, slightly heated)which makes it less cracker and more floppy. Even if they spit on it, it's still delicious. A NOTE ABOUT SERVICE: I go here A LOT. So maybe I'm not the best judge. But, I can see how people would think the counter peeps are rude or whatnot. Be friendly, and they will too! It's a hard gig working a service job downtown! Oh yeah, I'm told this place has salads, and if my memory serves, the bite I stole from a friend was decent. (The vegan ranch is, hands down, better than any other ranch in town) But let's be real...just give me all the slices!!
(5)michael b.
Went to the Sizzle for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. I've been to most PDX area pizza joints but not yet here although heard some good things. Pros Nice variety by the slice Average prices Adequate beer selection Cons EXTREMELY limited seating. We had to stand and eat. Customer service was just ok Seating Probably would not go back because so many other choices I prefer.
(3)Chet P.
updated review- nothing but great service and product since my last [complainish] review. even when they mess up a custom order (more than a few times now, but i accept some blame for having bizarre pizza topping impulses... on one half BUT THEN ON THE OTHER...) they're really apologetic and offer a discount on a future order. delivery estimates are spot on or early. drivers are awesome, and all of them are more attractive than 80s movies would have you believe by the choice of actor/actress. additional kudos for each [portland] location consistently having NINE pizza options on hand for slices- three vegan, three vegetarian, three omnivore. all of the above is worth four stars. the additional star is the sun, because, hey, it's like the king of all planets.
(5)Meredith B.
Pizza was very good, I really enjoyed the crust. There were several different pies to choose from. Prices are reasonable and it was quick!
(4)Robert G.
Yeah, that's right: "Methinks not." I checked them out in Eugene, OR once. I wasn't exactly thrilled. Being that they are across from Powell's Books, I thought, "What the hell ... go in for a slice of pizza with salad before heading over to Powell's." I just planned to be more judicious about the type of pizza I would select and make sure I got a salad with REAL salad dressing, and not some lame tasteless vegan stuff (their Caesar dressing). The counter service was surly. The dude wanted me to come over to the cash register to order. Truth be told, I needed him to come over to the pizzas on display to answer a simple question: "Which ones of these contain meat and are not spicy?" He did come over. Only 2 out of 9 pizzas qualified for that criteria! The pepperoni pizza tasted vapid and the crust was real flimsy, meaning the slice was in a state of sort of falling apart. Like someone else mentioned, their pizzas just taste different. For me, they lack the heartiness and flavor of many other pizzerias, be they chains or stand-alones. The salad actually had real ranch dressing this time, but the salad was also kind of bland. The music was too loud and, man, were there some douchey people in there. The only redeeming factor was that they had Cherry Coke, which I sort of like, as an option on their drink fountain. They get one star for existing and serving up food, and that includes their proximity to Powell's Books.
(1)Justin W.
This was recommended to me by my hotels front desk. Delivered right to my room. The phone staff was friendly and helpful. Had over an hour wait on delivery but addled if that was ok at order time. I had a pepperoni pizza, which was greasier than in used to by a bit, though the taste makes up for it. Was very hot when I got it, and delivery man was friendly as well. Despite being a very picky eater I would order again!
(5)Blaine T.
I'm not sure why sizzle pie is rated so highly. Just looking at the food it looks like the pizzas were made a week ago and have been sitting on the counter all day (which they have). All they do is heat it up (which takes surprisingly long) and it tastes like, you guessed it, day old pizza reheated in a microwave. It is the opposite of fresh. Every town has one of these pizza shops. When you stumble in at one in the morning, completely drunk, you think it's the best pizza you've ever eaten (because you'd think that of everything you put in your mouth at that point) when really it's a lazy restaurant serving incredibly mediocre food. That's okay. Everyone wants a crappy piece of pizza after a long night of drinking, but rating the business so highly is an insult to businesses that work hard to make real, quality pizza.
(2)Olivia O.
All work and no pizza makes Jill a very dull drone. Sometimes you hanker and rightfully deserve a slice of greasy salty pizza with a salad slathered in delicious dressing. Sizzle Pie drives a good deal - $6 lunch combo, slice and a salad. Eat it on the patio or hide from the shitty Portland drizzle indoors and dig the Sizzle Pie "feel." It is very retro, very grunge. The employees look like they might just punch one another if someone fucks one more order up. The pizza however is completely non-violent, some of it even vegan. Bonus points for being open super late. Living downtown, you get hungry at odd hours - the traffic, the weirdness of burnside in the wee hours of the morning - it all meshes perfectly with the Sizzle Pie experience. Concert goers and meth heads will congregate, because, just like you, they need just one more slice before they hit the sack.
(4)Warren J.
Pretty good pizza and I'm really glad they offer many vegan options including slices. My only real complaint is that the music is WAY TOO LOUD and too frenetic. It shouldn't be so loud that you have to raise your voice to talk to the person you are dining with. I asked the person behind the counter to turn it down after a while and she looked at me like I had two heads. She did turn it down a little bit though.
(3)Lila W.
Came here after the Say Anything Concert. It was super late, and they where the closest place that was open. It was pretty fantastic! The shop is pretty small, and they seem to have a ton of buisness, so we were pretty crowded waiting for our pizza. The pizza was delicious, exactly what I needed. Wish we had one in Idaho!

Best pizza by the slice- I think it beats Fat Slice in Berkeley hands down. Had an "Ol Dirty" w/ ricotta and salami and a "Gold Ring" w/ goat cheese and truffle oil. Salad and slice special for seven dollars is a steal and adding slice for $3.50 makes it a great meal for $10.50. People watching on Burnside while sitting at a chained down table and chair adds unbeatable ambience on a Friday night. Good stuff!

The pizza is delicious here. I took my kids and they loved it too. We only got cheese but I can't wait to try more!

The first time I tried Sizzle Pie was when my son talked me into stopping into the east side location. We dined in and ordered whole pies which were very tasty, so I was excited when I took a new job just blocks away from the downtown location. I've visited this Sizzle Pie several times now to order pizza by the slice, and I have to say that I've been terribly disappointed each time. By the time I get my pizza back to my office, it's usually cold and tough. The grease seeps through onto my desk. On top of the disappointing pizza, service is also not very friendly at this location. It really wouldn't hurt to smile at your customers once in awhile. I really did want to like this place and have given them several tries. I finally gave up and have found decent pizza elsewhere.

This pizza is good but service was very standoffish, it was unpleasant. The guy serving was more worried about being on his cell phone than greeting us. Not a good way to start off, specially with this being my first visit to this location. I've had the pizza delivered and almost every time it was a shorter blonde-ish gal with glasses and she was super nice! But coming here personally was apparently a bad choice. If I want pizza from here next time I'll just order in. Not worth the experience of dealing with crabby people. I mean at least be pleasant at the order/register when we are leaving and try and be somewhat nice. All I can say it "word of mouth" people! Make a good first impression. P.S the food is really good !

thin crusted pizza, crispy and chewy, overall acceptable. annoying are the ridiculous names for the individual pie combos that make no sense whatsoever, obviously designed to invoke some type of cool 'in the know'-ness. is a large pepperoni and mushroom by any other name just as tangy, here they believe not and so label it with something like 'wagon wheel denim train toot toot pining up the trufs' or similar. it's silly. give yourself a good hour and one half for a delivery, and even an hour for a pickup. i'll just say that the staff are not accustomed to multitasking, but they are accustomed to making customers feel that they should be so lucky to have them make a pie. you're gonna get the attitude here, sure, but knowing that these kids have obviously been hired straight off the streets helps to offset it. bottom line, a few places might be cool enough to pull off some attitude, but this little pizza joint is certainly not one of them.
(3)Katherine F.
Not one, but three vegan pizza options. Gotta love Portland. The pizza crust is superb tasting. Which, for pizza, is a must. Great beer on tap too.
(4)Kerri M.
Meh. I didn't really like this place and I tried it twice. Just something about it and the pizza wasn't even really that good.
(2)Aubrey P.
I absolutely love the pizza here. For a quick bite, this is the place to go. Seating's hard to come by, and it can get pretty chaotic especially late at night on the weekends, but the wait's not bad and it's worth it for the pizza. My husband and I have come here a couple times. The first time, we ate inside. We couldn't find seating in the main area, but we found a bar to stand at while we ate our large slices and drank our IPAs. We ordered pizza by the slice, and we love the fact that there's a few different types of vegan pizza for my husband to choose from! I chose plain old cheese, and he chose the Thunder and Lightning (vegan pepperoni and cheese). Add a great beer selection to the mix, and we have a great meal! We love this place because of the vegan and vegetarian options. We love coming here for a quick meal or pickup when we don't feel like cooking.
(4)Bryan I.
SOLID PIES - thin crust, good selection of meat, veggie, vegetarian, gluten free (GF) and dairy free (DF) options. The crust is decent when it's soft/warm and paired with a dipping sauce, otherwise it gets hard and less edible pretty fast. Their salad quality is definitely above average for a pizza joint, though I recommend getting the dressing on side if you are concerned about getting too much. The price of their slice and salad combo went up to $7, but it's still my default choice anytime I go Unfortunately the service is as varied as the employees' tats. Some workers are very friendly and pleasant, but others (especially one guy working the late night trash duty with thick glasses and a slight pot belly) was really curt and rude yelling at my friend to put napkins in the trash before putting plates in the bin. I've come to expect poor service/manners from a certain percentage of hipsters so it didn't bother me much, but others in my group were really put off by it. Come prepared for the worst and you won't be disappointed :-P

I have some beefs with Sizzle Pie, but also some loves, so I think that splits my review down the middle. 1/2 #1: I don't expect much at a pick-up-and-go kind of place like this, but it was really difficult to get the attention of the guy behind the counter both times I've been here. The first time, he didn't give me my canned soda--it was the lunch rush, so I get it, but he completely ignored me in spite of my obvious attempts to get his attention. I had somewhere to be, so I ended up just giving up and leaving after a good 10 minutes. The next time, I asked for 2 pieces of foil (this in and of itself was challenging) and he gave me one. I looked blankly at him and had to try for another 3 minutes to get his attention while he was doing assorted things in the back, running around, etc. I swear it was like he was avoiding my eyes. Don't know what the deal is. I swear I'm not a weird or quiet person. Something was up! I enjoy being treated like a human being, not like I am a mere annoyance unworthy of your attention. Also, $4 is a little steep for a slice. Yes, the slices are big, and yes, I will suck it up because I like the vegan pies so much, but still...when $6 buys you enough Thai to feed two it's hard to justify $8 for two slices to get the same full-ness for one. 1/2 #2: The vegan pizzas? Bomb. Get the Vegan Angel of Doom - while it seems like a weird combination (jalapenos, pineapple, Daiya cheese and slivered almonds), it's not. It's glorious. Thin crust, crispy, awesome. Taste factor is a definite win. In the end, I'm still torn about Sizzle Pie. Hopefully they'll win me over the better way rather than bringing things down in the other direction!
(3)Marlaina R.
This is a cool little pizza place! I'm so glad that it is open into the wee hours of the night. Oh and the pizza is damn good. They have a variety of pies with unique topping combinations and even more unique names that are musically inspired. There were four of us hungry night owls and we were all satisfied with our pizza and fancy sodas.
(4)Anya G.
Love sizzle pie! They make one of the best gluten-free crusts in Portland! I get a regular Ace of Spades for myself and have left overs in the morning. Gluten free pizza that's even good cold the next day? A winner.
(5)Ivan Z.
I don't review places often, but I have to say something about my experience here (and hopefully save someone the hassle of coming here in the future). The staff was very friendly FWIW, but I have issues with their quality control... My friend and I ordered a slice of their 'meatball' pizza. My slice was charred on the bottom. Not the nice crispness you'll find on thinner pizzas, but like the 'all I can taste is a lump of coal' flavor you'll get with a burnt slice. To top it off (or not so much in this case), I had a very small piece of meat on my pizza (yes, that's singular), and when you order a meatball pizza, you think you'd expect some meat on it. More like Fizzle Pie... I'm sorry, but my first experience there is also my last.

Sizzle Pie West is finally open! Goodbye Rocco's, you will not be missed. (Of course, plenty of people grew up with Rocco's and do miss it, but...sorry.) It's the same pizza as the OG Eastside location, which by that I mean great. I went on their opening night, which happened to be New Year's Eve. The view still makes for good people-watching; that night it was girls in heels and their bros attempting to walk over to the night club down the street. None of them wiped out on the streetcar tracks though. The same rules apply with the menu: slice and drink specials; meat, veggie, vegan slices available as well as a bunch of different whole pies. I am so glad there's something good and inexpensive near Powell's that's also open late!
(5)Sam S.
I'm born and raised in NY and this was a damn good NY slice.
(4)L. W.
This place is a bit dark inside and somewhat rustic. However the pizza was fast, pretty good and the salad was very good. Their combo was about $6 total for both pizza and salad so after spending big bucks all day on downtown food, this was a welcome respite.
(4)Travis T.
This place is way better than Pizza Scmizza. I got 3 slices: the pepperoni, Hawaiian, and barbecue chicken. All were delicious and the crust was perfectly thin and crunchy. Some of the best pizza by the slice I've ever had.
(4)Elizabeth I.
They may have good pizza but their customer service is sorely lacking. Called in to have a pizza delivered, was told they don't deliver until 6 PM. Asked if I could place the order now and have it delivered later. Told "no, we don't do that" although the voicebot said that you can press 1. Weird. I'm tired of the "we're so hip and don't really want to be bothered doing our job" attitude that seems pervasive in Portland. This was another example.
(1)Erin N.
Sometimes I feel "Ooh pizza pizza in my tummy. Me so hungy me so hungy." Sizzle Pie fixes that, and I am happy.
(5)Katherine M.
We ended up getting the Italians Do It Better (breaded eggplant, basil, garlic), and it was pretty decent. The sauce was okay and I kind of wish it had more garlic. The crust was kind of overdone and tough though. It definitely took a couple of extra chews to break that pizza down. It was pretty cheap though ($3.50 for a huge slice), so I really can't complain that much. It was definitely a much better experience compared to when we first went there and it was still Rocco's (hair on my pizza. BLEGH) I'll definitely be back when I'm nearby and want a cheap slice of pizza.
(3)Tommy T.
My favorite thing about the addition of a west side sizzle pie is the the extra vegan slice, making for a whopping three vegan slices (this is a big thing). The location is a little more convenient, and towards the end Rocco's was just getting shitty and needed to be replaced. The people watching is nice and the prices are still on the cheap. Only complaint is the lack of pinball machines.
(5)Joyce T.
Kudos for cheeseless pizzas, but not my style. The crust is far too floppy, not crispy enough. Although I do enjoy their non-traditional flavors, variety and fun names. I sampled a spiral tap, and wished it had more tomato sauce, and less sweet onion sauce. I forget the other one I tried, but it was too drippy. Warning: should eat these pizzas fast lest you create a mess while it melts. I may try the other flavors one day on a visit to Powell's across the street, but wouldn't if I could avoid it.
(1)Lindsay I.
While I love Sizzle Pie I find this location to be lacking. The slices were dried out and the seating horrible.
(3)Loren B.
For some reason Sizzle pie has been the last stop on the night on several occasions while out at concerts downtown PDX. Last night we were walking back to the car after a concert and once again decided to stop in for a quick slice of pizza. Their pizza isn't the greatest, Its actually pretty darn greasy... I've learned to stay with the basics, they have some really funky pizza flavors, i've found that if you just stick with the basic ones here they arent too bad. Plus its quick and fairly cheap. Atmosphere is grunge....dream of the 90's is alive in Portland. Overall a convenient, cheap slice of pizza while downtown. Also its nice they stay open real late.
(4)X X.
Delicious and decently priced pizza. Awesome place for vegans or vegetarians. I'm not either of those but enjoy their vegan/vegetarian selections. And their meat pizzas are great, especially the ol dirty. Creative pizza and creative names for them here. And always awesome music playing!
(4)Samantha O.
This place was not that great. I was forced to come here on a Saturday with my mom and sister while we were spending some time in Portland before I headed back to Seattle. Not gonna lie, I could be biased simply because I didn't get to eat at my favorite Portland pizza place, Escape From New York Pizza on 23rd, which is, in my humble opinion, the best pizza place in the Northwest. My family and I are constantly in search of pizza that closely resembles actual New York pizza, and well, Sizzle Pie isn't it. Now, I am not a pizza snob by any means. I'll eat a frozen pizza. I'll even eat Domino's pizza, which is saying something since I worked there. However, Sizzle Pie just didn't do it for me. A lot of times pizza is, for me, kind of a lazy/emergency/finals week food that I don't want to go out of my way for. Sizzle Pie is not that place, obviously. Other times, when I'm out and I'm really craving a piece of pizza... I want some great pizza. Sizzle Pie doesn't fit into this category either, although it's the type of place that should. I got a slice of cheese pizza because I'm kind of a pizza purist. My mom got a salad with hers. When we got our food two pieces (one was my sister's and one was mine) were on the same weird metal tray/plate. So basically we had to share a plate, which was odd. Mmkay, whatever, I can deal with that. My mom's salad came on the same metal tray/plate that her pizza slice came on and it just seemed strangely unhygienic to me. Maybe it was the metal plate that didn't look like a plate, or maybe it was the fact that her salad was just all over the place. I'm really not sure why these plates/trays were such an issue for me, but they were! I tried the salad, absolutely hated it simply because the flavor of the dressing was awful. The pizza wasn't bad, but I've had better. I wouldn't go out of my way to downtown Portland to eat there. I would go out of my way to eat at Escape From New York Pizza. Sizzle Pie had a pretty good sauce-cheese-crust ratio going on, but for some reason it was just 'meh' for me. They have weird pizzas, which I can appreciate, I mean, it's Portland. The people working there weren't nice, but they weren't rude. It was extremely busy when we went and they definitely do not have enough seating. We sat at a table and I felt like everyone standing around waiting for a table to open up was watching me eat as if I was on a freaking stage. This might be an issue of manners, but I'm still complaining about it cause it ruined my dining experience further. They should really figure out a better system for that. I also don't really know why the food took so freaking long to come out because the pizza was just sitting right there. Oh, well obviously they were heating up the pizza. NOPE. My pizza could barely be considered warm. To sum it up, I won't be returning yet it wasn't terrible. Maybe if I was within the same block and absolutely could NOT wait one more minute to eat. Maybe. A big maybe.
(2)Brandon B.
Heavy metal and great NY style pizza with a Portland twist.
(4)Ghassan A.
Sizzle Pie Westside! Perfect! I wish I could eat here everyday, but pizza everyday would require me to exercise a lot more than I currently do. I don't remember what it was called, but the slices I had last night had green olives and a vodka sauce. There's something about green olives on pizza that is absolute heaven to me for some reason. This place does the NY-style slice right. It's big, it's thin, it's delicious. Both locations are great, but I'm very happy to have one on my side of the river now.
(5)Gina C.
They have the best thin crust pizza I have ever had! We go here every time we're in Portland. And a whole section of the menu is dedicated to vegan pies!! The vegan pies have faux cheese or no cheese - both varieties that I tried were excellent. The pizza is great as leftovers too. I've been to both locations, the Downtown one is a bit smaller, but there is still plenty of seating. Bottom line: Best pizza I've had in recent memory.
(5)Ray R.
I'm a fan of any place that is open late.
(4)Rain C.
Dry and tasteless. I was curious as to how it got such high reviews ... and concluded ... all the 4 and 5 star reviews must be for people who have never eaten great pizza in other cities. Sorry. I'm not trying to be a hater here but my pizza was $26. I could get 2 giant family size pizzas for that price at Papa Murphy's and it would taste better.
(1)Robert D.
By far my favorite pizza place in town. They're a little slow sometimes....but it's worth the wait.
(5)Jeneique J.
Visited this place last minute on my trip to Oregon! Very retro , cool merch and tasty pizza :) . They offer a vegetarian selection of pizzas. The crew here work their tails off and the cashier was super friendly :)
(5)Ron M.
The Pizza is expensive. I'll start with that. Not really worth it, but understandable for the location. If it was just about the price and quality, it would be enough for me to keep eating here when I'm craving Pizza at 2am. But this place has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Every single time that I've been here the cashier has acted like they don't want to be there, and worse, like they don't want me there. It's been such a bad experience so often, that I decided to never eat here again and then write my first Yelp review about it. I am displeased.
(1)Zaphod B.
Damn good pepperoni and music as well. Crust nice and crisp, except the flaccid tip. In other words, perfect.
(4)Michelle C.
Good pizza - veg and non-veg. Good prices - lunch for 2 was less than $10. And the pizza is just as good as some east coast NY style places. I would go back for a quick, cheap slice of pizza. This place would be awesome after a few drinks around midnight.
(4)Keith H.
Probably one of the best pies I have ever eaten. I just moved here from Philly and it even beats out pies from that area. The homemade sauce is delicious, there's a perfect ratio of cheese to sauce, it's not too greasy, and the dough crust perfect. I'll definitely be back!
(5)Clarkitty C.
Staff were friendly, bustling around the kitchen with urgency. Smiles all around. Its like they took Rocco's Pizza and gave it a nice makeover. Upgraded the furniture, and deep cleaned. Nice fresh coats of black and red paint go round with nicer tables and chairs to sit in. The pizza is nice and crisp with hefty size in its favor. Slices are as tastier and crispier than schmizza with the same size for a few quarters less. I ordered the pepperoni and it was fantastic. So was the meatball pizza. Also great for many Portlander's is the option to have Vegan pizza......yes thats right even vegan pepperoni and cheese pizza. YUM!
(5)Sandra A.
Sizzle Pie makes me proud to live in Portland. Goodbye to the gross take-whatever-non-meat-slices-we've-got-today of other places. This place has 3 vegan pizza by the slice choices at any time and 3 vegetarian slices at any time. It's not only the meat eaters that get a choice in the pizza by the slice world! That would have been enough, regardless of the quality, to draw me in. But - SURPISE - it is great! The crust is perfectly thin. The carmlized onion/tomato sauce/nutritional yeast pizza is the tastiest vegan slice I've ever had. It's not like other vegan slices where they use fake cheese or just leave the cheese off. i It's just delicious. I sometimes go out of my way to go there just to get a slice of it, and I'm not even vegan. There are 2 other things that make this place even more amazing: 1) It is open really late. In Portland, there's not that many places open after midnight. But Sizzle Pie is! It is my opinion that there is no better late night food options in town. 2) They sell half slices, for half the price. So if you can't make up your mind on what kind you want, you can get a half slice of this and a half slice of that.
(5)Julianne R.
Hands down, my favorite pizza. I live in Seattle, but I HAVE TO go to Sizzle Pie every time I am in Portland. The pizza definitely makes up for the terrible service and lack of seating. I'm serious!
(5)Andrea J.
Roccos pizza was terrible; somehow, Sizzle Pie is worse. The people working here are beyond rude. The pie is greasy and absolutely flavorless. This isn't even good "bad" pizza--it is pizza trying to be NY style and utterly missing the mark.
(2)Mary Liz C.
Sizzle Pie West, I sure do like you taking over when Roccos disappeared. While, I prefer the East side location (I'm partial to booths and the outdoor patio), I appreciate your convenient location near Powell's and my place of work. I also like that you offer three vegan options, rather than the two offered over East. I also like that you seem to have New Maps Out of Hell more often than the East side... How do you decide when to have which pies? Also, you should always have that because nothing beats it!
(4)Amanda P.
Get the Gene Parmesan (Especially if you are an arrested development fan, lol). Cheap food, good price, great location.
(5)Kim I.
i have always loved sizzle pie. delicious quality pizza and they don't charge an arm and a leg. always open late on this location too! i just got off the phone with holly and ordered a few pizzas for our developers code a thon tonight and she was a gem. so helpful and she even figured out a way to deliver to us because we are on such a tight time crunch, even though they do not deliver. i think holly should get a raise hahaha and i'll always be going to sizzle pie. thank you guys! you rock and i'm such a fan!
(5)Phil M.
I'm very familiar with the east-side Sizzle Pie. There are no surprises on the west side. That is to say, amazing pizza, great vegan and veggie options, and loud punk and metal tunes blasting throughout the joint. If you like great ingredients and a thin, crispy crust, Sizzle Pie is the place!
(5)Ken J.
Sizzle Pie is good. Really good. About the only thing I miss from back when this place held Rocco's is the arcade games. My girlfriend and I went here and decided to split a Pig Destroyer. It came up pretty quick, and arrived generously piled with a variety of delicious pork products. The cheese was a little greasy, but hey, it's cheap pizza. I just soaked it up with a paper towel and commenced with the devouring. It's not like the thick cuts of sausage, pepperoni, and other meaty deliciousness weren't gonna clog my arteries anyway. Was kinda sad that they don't have any draft beers (yet?), but there's a decent selection of bottled and canned offerings. Prices were reasonable enough. I'm looking forward to the return of the bar and I hope Sizzle Pie is going to serve inside.
(5)Paul G.
Nice selection of various slices. They have all kinds of toppings on their large, thin sliced pieces. Prices are 3 to 4 dollars a slice. This location is right across from Powells, which is convenient if you happen to get a pang for some pizza while you are perusing various novels, travel books, anime, or magazines. Just hop across the street and you'll find Sizzle pie.
(4)Ellie J.
They have pizza by the slice here, but please.. order a fresh pie. It took awhile for it to come out but it was absolutely delicious. The crust is thin, crispy and chewy. The toppings were flavorful although it was a little greasy, but what pizza isn't greasy? I forgive you pizza.. grease just is a part of your goodness. The use fresh produce from local farms and the homemade sauce is yummy. I will be back for another pie when I'm in town.
(4)Dion A.
Love, love, love this place. Ordered the gold chain (truffle oil, goat cheese, green onions, pancetta) and it did not disappoint. I also love that you can get a pizza and salad combo. Also, they have a wide selection of pizzas in their display that you can get a slice of or a cut which is half a slice. I love the cut option because it allows you to try more varieties. Definitely one of the best places I've eaten at in Portland. Will come back if ever I visit this lovely town again.
(4)Patrick O.
Stopped in for late night pizza.. Tried several different slices , but my fav was "New Maps Outta Hell" !
(4)Liliana G.
the pizza is just as good as the eastside location, but the service is way better over there. see my review of the east location here: yelp.com/biz/sizzle-pie-… also, it is dark as hell in there at night, so bring a flashlight if you wanna see what you're eating.
(3)Andru R.
This is my go to pizza place in PDX. Vegan and vegitarian options galore. I do love the hip vibe in the stores. Only once was I disappointed and it wasn't the food. An older guy was working and vetoed all the songs we paid for on the jukebox. Why have jukebox then. Everything fresh and made in house cant go wrong.
(5)Miles S.
How this doesn't have five stars across the board I to not know. This is the best fucking pizza outside of Italy. Hands down
(5)Jason B.
Delicious thin crust pizza! A bit of a long wait for 12am, but it was a damn good pie and they gave us some free bread sticks and $$ off coupons for our next visit. I'll be back!
(4)Amy S.
My first experience: There were at least 3 different vegan by the slice options, I got the "Vegan Angel of Doom" (pineapple, jalapenos, sliced almonds and daiya cheese). It was awesome to sit there and eat that while listening to The Misfits and read The Mercury. Could not have been a better dining experience for me! The girl at the counter just seemed to love her job and was really nice. There were plenty of meat and dairy options slice options as well. Not sure what their menu is like but I saw one guy leave with a pizza that had spinach and tempeh on it! What what?!? I was sad to see Rocco's go but this place is so much better!
(5)Kount T.
Ate here for my first time, had a single slice of Gold Ring. Very tasty. Only down side is the price - pretty expensive. It was in the mid 80s this afternoon, and the restaurant didn't have the ac on - i hate that when establishments opt for letting their customers suffer just to save a few bucks. For the prices they charge, they ought to TURN ON THE AC WHEN IT'S HOT OUT!!!
(2)Jessica N.
I stopped by at Sizzle Pie for the first time today at the Downtown location. I had two slices, the vegan angel of doom and some other kind that I can't remember the name of. They were both absolutely delicious. Some of the best pizza I have ever had. There were a few people ahead of me in line, but it went pretty quickly. It wasn't a long wait at all. I paid about three dollars or so a slice, and the slices are big so it is well worth the money. I will definately be back again very soon. 5 stars*
(5)Tiffany R.
Thin crust pizza with interesting toppings. They are very friendly and fast.
(4)Daniel J.
I must say, I have consumed a many great slices of pizza pie in my life, but nearly all have dropped the meatball (try the meatball slice), in comparison to "Sizzle Pie," pie! Friendly staff, cool atmosphere, great location (across from Powell's) and above all, killer, good pizza! Quit reading and start eating, here!
(5)Rebecca R.
Overall good pizza, enough variety on the menu to satisfy just about any pizza craving. Tasty, thin crust pizza hits the spot. Limited seating as it is in a oddly shaped building. I didn't care for the death metal music blaring. I'm pretty sure it was the same 3 songs on repeat since they sounded the same. I get that you are trying to be hip but there are plenty of other types of music that would suit the ambience of the place.
(4)Tina L.
get the pie and salad... soooo worth it!
(4)Aleck L.
A little divey but loved my NY-style pizza by the slice. Had the lexicon devil (spicy) and the truffle slice. This would be amazing drunk food.
(4)Kristina S.
so happy there is a pizza place in this location again, and WEEEE, they have vegan options! fun inventive flavors (although too heavy on the daiya for me...) every time I have visited, there have been plenty of choices available. YUM!
(5)Matt P.
Maybe concentrate less on trying to appear anti-corporate/uber-Portland and more on actually cooking your pizza all the way. Gross.
(2)Kristine N.
This is my go-to pizza joint in Downtown PDX. Not only are they open late, but they have GREAT customer service day and night.
(5)Ryan S.
The worst part about Sizzle Pie is that it's not closer to where I live. I can't get enough of this place!
(5)Danton S.
I have an agenda. AND when I finally figured out that SIZZLE PIE was a place to eat, I was astounded. I saw JIVE and Sizzle Pie outside the window of the hotel I was in.Don't want to elaborate much more, other than maybe because I am a mediocre mormon who put a resume' into this house of pizza, that there won't be too much more to say. I do like pizza. I do. Since I had a wild dream of Good Charlotte being on stage with frontman Scooter Ward while listening to the Superfiction album I purchased yesterday....I am sickened and spooked. Why is that relevant? Because girls work here...so that song 9 and that Birthday song by Good Charlotte seem wildly interwoven..UNLIKE me and some girls in Portland.
(3)Robert E.
I am definitely Blown away by this place. I am usually pretty skeptical of any place that is Vegan friendly but I gave it a chance. There are so many options for those people who are meat friendly ^_^. The Pizza was great and the service was awesome. I am definitely coming back
