Good food but a little pricey for lunch.

Unassumingly great based on how it looks from the outside and decor inside. Really good food. Amazing pad Thai and curry, salad rolls however wasn't anything to rave about. Will definitely return!
(4)Matt V.
i had the pad thai noodles and it was delicious! it looked, tasted and smelled good! if you want good thai food this is a great place to go! best pad thai ever....
(5)Marcus W.
This is a very small restaurant, yet it offers great thai food. I've tried about 15 different items from their menu and so far its had been a great experience. Prices are reasonable and they are very consistent with the quality.
(4)Lesley B.
Wonderful food, great staff. The mango curry was great, and the drunken noodles were super tasty. Would be five stars if drunken noodles were spicy.
(4)Rusty S.
o i will be back! Fresh BBQ pork everyday at 11. great food, awesome little find.

tl;dr Eat here, now. I was hesitant to try a restaurant in a run-down strip mall, but I needed a new Thai place (my last two go-tos closed), and this had good reviews and was close by. I wanted to try a variety of my usual faves, and love having leftovers for the week. I got the appetizer combo with calamari, potstickers, and tofu salad roll. They were all good, but pretty average. The skin of the salad roll was thicker than I'm used to, but I found I actually liked that. The calamari rings weren't too tough, but they were breaded rather than battered (my preference). To each their own though. The beef Yakisoba was delicious! Crunchy veggies, not drowning in sauce or grease, and perfectly cooked noodles. If you're craving Saturday Market, street food style Yakisoba this might not be for you, but if you want good, flavorful, basic noodles do try them here. One of the specials the day I went was Mango Curry, which always stokes my fire. The fruit wasn't so cooked down that it was mushy, but permeated the sauce quite nicely. The shrimp were a bit over cooked, but that was the only complaint. The veggies were still crisp, and the heat (which I didn't specify) was a nice mild-medium. 100/10 will order again. Now, the service. I got into my car telling my fiancé that if the food was half as good as the service, this would be my new favorite Thai spot. The gentleman working threw in a free order of spring rolls, which were crisp outside and perfect inside. Not only that, but he carried my bag of food all the way out to my car. Granted, the place is small and I parked right out front so it wasn't that far, but that's still top-notch service that you rarely find. So don't be put off by the outside. Definitely go here.

Coconut juice is amazing- a must order served with fresh young coconut in the glass. Pra Ram sauce was on point- yummy, plentiful. Salads served before the meal were a nice touch. Staff was SO friendly!!!! Hole in the wall but totally totally worth it.
(5)Nini L.
Over all 4.5 (Food 4, Service 5). There hasn't been anything on the menu I haven't liked, but they have a similar flavors so it can get a little boring if you only order from one category. The service is GREAT though. Quick and respectful. Seems family owned and operated. It's become my go to Thai place on this side of town. Support the locals establishments!
(5)M M.
Had the drunken noodles and the house fried rice with basil. The noodles were the perfect texture, just enough nite not mushy at all. I love the basil I the fried rice, nicely presented too, not just a pile of rice . They took the time to sprinkle ingredients on top in an even way...and it was a to go order. That's love of making food. The menu is excellent, I still need to try the angry salmon and the fried fish fillets in tamarind sauce. Definitely will
(5)Kay M.
This is my favorite spot for Thai food. They are always very nice. Great to call in for pick up or a sit in meal. Always have new specials on deck. They have the best crispy chicken with rice and sweet and sour sauce. Pad see ew, pad Thai and pineapple fried rice are my favorites. Make sure you say how spicy you like it, it can be super hot. Always consistent with taste I would recommend to anyone.
(5)Genesis M.
Very delicious POT STICKERS I was around town with a friend and he suggested we come. I didn't eat anything else but the host/waiter was very nice. They served us water and tea which was a nice gesture I thought. And you could tell a lot of people liked this place. During the time we were there people were coming in and out. Either to eat or to pick up takeout. It took a little bit of time to get the appetizer and my friends food but it was definitely worth it :) would come again next time with an appetite to actually try one of the full dishes they offer !
(4)Emily B.
Good price, delicious food and great service :) it was quick and the mango lunch special was delicious!
(5)Amber C.
Friendly staff, delicious food, and super fast delivery! Loved the spicy green beans!
(4)Bob R.
This is a review by a vegetarian No decor or charm. More of a take-out place. Good solid inexpensive stick-to-your-ribs food. A complimentary mug of tea was provided.
(4)C M.
My favorite Thai restaurant in NE Portland! Great food - easy takeout or dine in. Really friendly owners/staff. Can't beat the prices. Oh, and, the food is authentic Thai! I love it!
(5)Lai S.
Best Thai food in town. Food tastes authentic and delicious. Great customer service as well.
(5)Dori H.
Had the Pad Thai and the chicken satay. Delicious. Went because of the great yelp reviews. I will absolutely go back and try some of the curry dinners. Lots of.people.coming in for take out as well.
(4)Adam B.
Had the equivalent of a spicy pad see ew and it was very tasty. Quality chicken and delicious flavor.
(4)Katie D.
I'm not the biggest Thai food fan, but this place is awesome. Their pad see ew is amazing. The service is great. I work in the area and being able to call ahead by 5 minutes and have my food hot and ready to go to when I walk in the door is perfect!
(5)Anya S.
We ordered the Beef pumpkin curry, the mongolian beef, and the egg rolls for take out. The food was delicious! We recommend this establishment!
(5)Olivia H.
This is the only place by my house that delivers homemade food! Everything is very delicious! Love the pad tai and yellow curry.
(4)Bree C.
I have sampled many Thai flavors around town, and this one has yet to disappoint me-much. While not an atmosphere conducive to a nice date (though I have had one here) the food and flavor is well worth suffering through lackluster décor in a tiny spot next to a convenient store. I would stick with to-go food, as many do-the few times I've eaten in the establishment, there were many people picking up orders, which definitely takes away from any atmosphere that was there-as they have to walk through the small restaurant to pick up food from the counter. Siam Grill houses my favorite Pad Thai and Tom Yum to date-my quest will never end of course-but for now this is my go to place-when I do not feel like the disappointment of trying a new place. The egg rolls drunken noodles are also divine. While some items are a bit expensive for a Thai restaurant in this area-the flavors make it well worth it.
(4)Jenny W.
I learned about this gem from yelp and boy am I glad I did. Food was excellent and the service was great. I'll be back for sure!
(5)Jason E.
I prefer to take out and dine in the comfort of my own home. On a busy day (like Saturday, lunchtime) the dining room can become quite cozy... Though for a day when they were short one staff member and take out and dine-in orders kept coming in they did not miss a beat. We waited maybe twice as long as normal (10 minutes, instead of 5) to receive our food. It was still the same fast, friendly service we have come to expect. And the food is still delicious, too. Desserts to try: Coconut ice cream (with real coconut pieces inside) Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango
(5)serra s.
I went here on a whim on my way home from the paint store. It was 3:45 but they let me get a lunch special anyways. I got the pad thai to go, since I had never been there before and that's my dish that I order to see what kind of thai place it is. The noodles were red which I generally see as immediately a bad sign, however they did not taste like ketchup which pleasantly surprised me! They cooked the tofu really well and the dish was overall quite satisfactory. I will definitely try it again.
(4)Katie A.
This is our "go to" Thai restaurant by our house. I love the basil chicken stir fry. Sweet people here and great food. So glad they are here because there really is not a lot to choose from in Gateway/Parkrose/Hazelwood area...
(5)Jennie M.
Service was great. Papaya salad, Pra Ram & Red Curry were very tasty, and the Thai tea was amazing! It's a little hole-in-the-wall place that really tries hard. If we lived nearby, it would surely be on the go-to list for a great, inexpensive meal.
(4)Catherine H.
Thank you to yelp! I was on this side of town and starving before my night shift. I did a quick search of to-go food and this restaurant was a top rated business for the area. I called in my order and it was ready in about 15 minutes or so; I am not sure because when I walked in around that timeframe the good was it was ready! I ordered chicken pad thai. I thought it was really good and came in a pretty big portion. I split in in half for two meals, what a deal. :)
(4)Danny Z.
This place right here tho!! Been coming here for 5+ years. Never fails to please me. Real authentic Thai cuisine. Simply amazing. The Pad See Ew is my favorite, next to the chicken Thai fried rice
(5)Lynn S.
Total meh...I judge every Thai place by the same dish, Pad See Ew. I mean, I ate it...but it was bland. Nothing remotely in the range of "I'll go back there again." Skip it. We only ordered from here because Chai Thai was closed.
(2)Robn d.
I have been driving by this little hole in the wall for a good part of a year, so I was looking for a Thai place close To home. Looked To yelp and found This place its perfect, close To home and food is excellent , tried fried Rice, honey BBQ ribs, egg rolls chicken pad Thai, Everything hit the spot.
(4)Lee S.
I don't understand. I'm looking at all the other reviews and I'm seeing four and five stars. This place was terrible. It was like a McDonalds version of Thai food. Maybe we just had bad timing. It was like 3 in the afternoon. We were the only people there. They waiter definitely seemed to be inconvenienced by our presence. The service was terrible. I asked for the Thai hot sauce and he gave me Sriracha. Had to ask again for more sauce and this seemed to bother him. No chopsticks. Eatn my soggy noodles with a fork. And that brings us to the food. The noodles were soggy and all stuck together but for the price it wasn't all that bad. Like I said before it was kinda like fast food Thai food. So if your into that, this is the place to go.
(1)kekai c.
Best Thai food in NE PDX! Sat down for dinner here a couple times with the bf and they do to go orders as well when you don't have time to dine in. I usually get yellow curry or cashew chicken to see how well a Thai restaurant can get these basics down. They got it down! The Pad Thai shrimp/tofu was also really good. Although there is no "bar", that's really not why one comes to this place. Delicious good food, a friendly staff, and in-neighborhood proximity are three main reasons why I'll be back here again soon!
(5)Olivia T.
We were in the neighborhood and looking for delicious and affordable dinner place. I browsed on Yelp and this place got pretty good reviews. We decided to try it out. We walked in and only one other table was occupied. The place is pretty small, but cozy. We ordered our food. I had the Panang Curry with Beef and I asked for XXXXXXTRAAAA HOT. Yes I love my food spicy. Jesse had the Sweet Sausage Fried Rice. Our food came out fast, but they were hot and fresh. My curry was delicious. It was spicy, but not too overpowering. Jesse loved his fried rice. I stole a few bites out of his plate and I agreed, it was pretty da bomb. One thing that was kinda a bummer, none of the curry dishes has eggplants in it. I love Eggplants in Thai curries and was hoping to had some with my curry. Overall, this place serves delicious Thai food and a great restaurant for the neighborhood.
(4)Heather D.
Love their drunken noodles.
(4)Andrea S.
Best Thai place in Portland we come here on nights we don't feel like cooking and man it's good. Always done in 15 min, never had one bad time here, always clean, always friendly. We always have the pineapple fried rice, chicken pad Thai and the salad rolls with tofo! Yum yum yum Man might call in now for dinner!! :)
(5)Stacey B.
This place was definitely worth the drive from Gresham. It really doesn't look like much from the outside, but it had the best Thai food I've had in the PDX area. The people are super nice, the portions were generous, and when we asked them to make it "extra spicy" they really did! Usually we ask for it extra spicy and it comes out only sort of spicy. This made us sweat! The laab looked very appealing as well as being very flavorful. The pad kee mao had plenty of meat and veggies, and the flavor really came through even though it was very spicy. We'll definitely go back to try other dishes.
(5)Julie F.
Excellent authentic Thai food. Casual, friendly environment and great service. They really mean it when they said spicy, so if you cannot take the heat, be sure to ask for mild or not spicy. I love this place!
(5)Richard S.
Thai Food at it's best. Small little place that we happened to see as we pass by yet took us a long time to finally stop and give a try. We are so happy we did as this is some of the best I've had. I love my food really spicy and they are not afraid to make it how you like it here. Some other places I've eaten just don't want to make it too spicy. I've had a few dishes here now and have not been disappointed at all. This is my new favorite place for Thai food. Made to order fresh. Wonderful friendly service. You will not be sorry if you visit this place.
(5)Dan H.
This is my favorite Thai place in all of Portland. The food is spectacular, the price is great, and I love the service.
(5)Erin A.
Service is fast and courteous. I call in orders regularly and it's 10 minutes to pick it up every time. I've tried the veggie stir-fry, pad thai, green curry, spring rolls, and pad kee mao, all are really good. Last time I was in there to pick up an order to go on a cold rainy night, they brought me out a to-go cup of hot tea without my asking. I like going places that appreciate my business.
(5)Brooke G.
For a weekday lunch date, my mom and sister and I went to Siam Grill. The storefront is unimpressive and any time the food is pictured, I get a little nervous. Luckily, holes in the wall are also some of the best finds! I ordered a special--Prawns in Panang curry--which came with green beans, bell peppers and prawns. The curry had a little spice but was mostly sweet and perfectly complemented the prawns. All of the veggies were cooked to perfection and I nearly ate the entire dish. This will be my new "take out" spot.
(4)Vi B.
Easily, 4 (possibly 4.5) stars. Family owned, this cute little Thai restaurant on Halsey finds a way to reign supreme when its business neighbors fail (including a Subway next door that closed down and a Plaid pantry that seems spooky and lonely). How do they do it? By consistently providing good and fast customer service and delicious, high quality food. I go there regularly and get either the beef salad or the pad thai, and am never let down with either. The noodles are great, and the vegetables are always crunchy and fresh. Best of all, everything is always perfectly seasoned and well-portioned. And If you like spicy (or spiced) food, this place is for you. A while back, I ordered a beef salad with "medium spice," and literally had tears coming out of my eyes. Yet it was so well cooked that I ate the whole thing! It was kind of like watching an episode of Flavor of Love (or Rock of Love, for you Bret Michaels fans): too painful to keep going on, but too delicious to stop. Anyway, since this incident the hostess remembers me and always knows to give me "little" or "no" spice. And I always remember to come back as a regular customer.
(4)Robert V.
They have very good green curry! not to hot but very good! the staff here are friendly and they got my friend and my food out very fast that is what i like in an restaurant! The fresh salad tofu spring rolls are good, but the fried wantons should have more filling in them.. Overall i would come again if i am in that part of town!
(4)Kimmy K.
This place was introduced to Mr. Kupcakes and I by a neighbor when we first moved into the neighborhood. We are so glad they told us about it because we love it. There aren't a lot of good food places to pick from in our 'hood, but even if this place was close-in, we'd still want to go there. Everything is made fresh to order and they have lots of choices from the vegetarian to the meat eater. We love their larb and tom kha soup. We've tried a lot of different dishes from their menu and have liked every single one. To top is all off, if you order a certain amount of food to go, they throw in a free spring rolls. Live within 2 miles? They will even deliver. Can't go wrong with either of those little perks.
(5)Elle W.
I read the reviews and decided to make a Saturday night run to Siam Grill. It was really good. I would not make this a dine in spot. This is definitely and to-go joint. We ordered Kung Pao, Pineapple Rice and Mango sticky rice. They have a tasty veggie option as well, which is less expensive. I will return again.
(4)Meghan W.
Super nice staff. Cute decor. Decent prices. The food was well portioned and tasty.
(4)kelly s.
I have no idea why I was even over here, but there are a few random highlights in the gateway area. Siam Grill is definitely not the worst Thai I've had in Portland, in fact, it was really pretty good. By beer was served freezing cold and cheap, and Pad Kee Mao was delicious in the most lovely way. Not worth a long distance trip as similar Thai finds are closer to town, but definitely a high spot around these blocks!
(4)Kelsey G.

Yep, this place still makes me weak in the knees. Every one of the staff I have met are super nice and the grub is always so, so ahhhmaaazing. They are reasonably priced and fast! I always order to go, the best way to eat Thai, in my opinion! So, if you find yourself hangin' in the Gateway hood, try it out.
(5)Andrea B.
They always let my coworkers put in a huge order and come pick it up with a million credit cards. They are amazing! Good sized portions, friendly, and yummy :)
(5)LeAnn E.
Good food but a little pricey for lunch.
(3)M J.
Excellent Thai in the cultural wasteland that is Gateway. Polite service. Fresh ingredients. Balanced spices. One of our frequented spots.
(3)Shane R.
I love this place! The green curry and pad ke mao are to die for! Friendly fast service - nicely packaged take out and great food! We are lucky to have them in our neighborhood!
(4)Jereme C.
In an area of town where the competition is a few greasy spoon breakfast joints, McDonalds, Carls Jr. and a bunch of mall food, we were quite happy to see a Thai restaurant coming. When we moved into this neighborhood over a year ago, this same space was occupied by a Mexican restaurant who's name wasn't the El Dorado that was listed out on the sign. Case-in-point, this place turned over often and most businesses didn't stand a chance. Siam Grill came through the door and they actually put up a sign! And it lights up a night! Whoa! To seal the deal, we also found that the food was quite good. We've probably had fancier, or even more traditional, however, the price is good, the portions are great and everything tastes quite good. My wife and I really enjoy the panang curry and the pad see ew. The decor is charming enough that you can easily dine in. Please help keep this little business in the neighborhood! It only takes a few great little restaurants like this before other cool businesses come to the area!
(4)Angela S.
We moving into the area a month ago and have eaten at or ordered from Siam Grill at least 4 times. There only other restaurant that we go to it the Mexican one in the mall. It's great that Siam is right down our street! They do curries extremely well and as a vegan you can request things like no egg, shrimp paste, or fish sauce really easily. I am more picky about my Pad Thai and for me this one didn't work for me. Still tasty but just not completely delicious according to me. Go for the pumpkin curry! Their deep fried and fresh spring rolls are both veggie and yummy! Tonight, fried bananas for dessert! Used to be a fav but we've had too many issues with oyster sauce showing up in our dishes and ketchup in the too sweet and saucey pad thai.
(2)Hunter B.
Whats the Five Stars about? Please. They are probably the only Thai restaurant in that area. Ordered the BBQ chicken, seafood fried rice, Chicken curry. Real thai BBQ chicken is marinated whole or half chicken that is cooked until the skin becomes crispy( usually deep fried) with a coat of sauce similar to sweet chili sauce on it. Very disappointed when it came out. It came out wings with a dipping sauce instead. If I wanted wings I would of gone to KFC. The menu should of said "wings." Whatever. The seafood fried rice was bland. Had shrimp, vegetables, scallops and squid in it. The scallops and squid were rotten or had a funky smell to it. Maybe they did not wash it very well. They should of washed this type of seafood with salt and vinegar to get the smell out. Decided not to finish it. Finally the curry was alright, wasnt special either. On the positive side, The thai ice tea was really good! My whole lunch cost me about 48 dollars plus tip. Would I eat here again? Not if this was the last restaurant in Portland.
(1)Alex B.
Thanks to my fellow yelpers reviews, I tried Siam Grill while I was in Portland on a work trip last week. You guys were right, this place was great! There were 3 of us so we ordered a good variety of food from the menu and everyone loved what they tried. I had the Tom Yum soup with seafood and thought it was excellent and my co-workers loved the fried tofu appetizer. In addition the service was good and I will definitely go back next time I am in the area.

Good Thai fried rice, but nothing too special. Better than any fast food.

It's nice to have a Thai restaurant in the neighborhood, and a good one at that. The food is delicious, the portions are large, the prices are reasonable and the people are very friendly and helpful. The dine in is simple, comfortable and enjoyable. The Pumpkin Curry is a must have. If you crave delicious Thai food, you can't miss with Siam Grill.

As the previous reviewer noted, the spot that Siam Grill now occupies has had some rocky past incarnations. So when a new Thai restaurant opened up, we were hesitant to try it out. Sandwiched between a Subway and an insurance office, Siam Grill looked too nice to be decently good. We had grabbed a to-go menu that was ingeniously offered on the outside of the door and perused it at home. Finally, we decided it was time to test it out. We've been to a lot of Thai restaurants in Portland. They come and go, with no apparent rhyme or reason. Some terrible ones remain around forever, and some really great places close down. So my expectations for Siam Grill were relatively low. I was very pleasantly surprised. We went in during the early dinner period on a Tuesday evening and were only the second occupied table. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful to us, even though the other party that ordered right before us apparently wanted all sorts of weird substitutes (like a garden salad... not really a traditional Thai menu item). The salad rolls we started with were very fresh and had perfectly balanced amounts of mint and cilantro. They were all veggie, which was not explicit on the menu, but great for us just the same. We continued with the pumpkin curry and "spicy noodles" (the waitress confirmed it was pad kee mao, even though the menu listed it as just spicy noodles). Both were very good, and nicely spiced. The pumpkin curry was served in a clay pot, with plenty of other veggies and tofu bobbing around in a red curry. The spicy noodles were hot and delicious, with perfectly cooked vegetables and chicken. And not as greasy as many other Thai places usually end up making it. A pot of jasmine tea made the meal perfect. Also, the prices are reasonable. Our entire meal was under $25, before tip. They advertise lunch specials for under $7.00 that I unfortunately will probably never be able to try, as they are only on weekdays. The decor is classy and sort of cute without being overwhelming or ostentatious. Very orange. Overall, I'm thrilled such a great new Thai place has opened so close to my home. Since the closure of our previous favorite Thai place, we've been nomadically seeking a replacement. We shall roam no more. So please help keep Siam Grill in business!

Delicious little gem in the heart of Parkrose, and they deliver within 2 miles! yummy curry and pad thai
(5)Ben P.
Meh. Not bad. Not great. Very cool atmosphere. Kinda ware-housey but the food seemed flat. When I go thai I want another dimension. Not just coconut milk poured over rice in different shades of pink. I'd give it another try but gonna need to branch out off the curries and pad thai. One perk is that they have a large vegetarian menu and can do all of there veggy dishes vegan also.

Great little hidden treasure. Everything is fresh. Servings are big. Great Menu & daily specials. Staff is very friendly. Salmon special cooked perfectly & spicy! Kids had teriyaki chicken. Plenty for leftovers. Thanks yelp for sending us here.

I love loveeeeee this place. I always pass by it every morning and one day I decided I wanted to try out the thai food they served there because I did not want to go all the way to the one I know in clackamas. It is a pleasantly small space so big groups (5+) would be hard to accommodate.. I think its more nice for an intimate lunch or dinner with a friend or someone special. Ever since I move to Portland this is by far my favorite Thai place. I love everything on their menu. I can get it super spicy to my taste or not spicy at all for the hubby.. Sometimes when I go there its seems like they have no business but sure enough a bundle of people start rolling in for to go orders. Whenever I go there, the portions are exceptionally large or loving.. hmm. The calamaries are so dang delicious even after it gets cold, its stays nice and crunchy and lightly chewy. The crab cream puff are also one of my favorites. I always crave their pad thai w/ beef (spicy!!) its soo good. and of course thai tea is deliciously sweet.. I try not to get it cause I get full of that and never finish my food.. but I always can take my food home! The prices are just right and portions are amazing.. They have dessert too but I always get too full to try it.

I ordered take out a few weeks ago. The food was fresh, service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. I ordered something called pad ginger and it was delicious. My husband had pad thai. It was good but the only small criticism is that it seemed to have the chili mixed throughout. So the pad thai was a bit spicy hot. Next time I would ask that they leave the chili off to the side so I can adjust the heat. Anyhow, I would definately recommend.

tl;dr Eat here, now.
(5)Kate B.
(5)Shane R.

(1)serra s.
(5)Lee S.
(5)Kimmy K.
(4)Olivia T.
(4)Julie F.
(5)kelly s.
(4)Jason E.
(5)Amanda R.

Excellent Thai in the cultural wasteland that is Gateway. Polite service. Fresh ingredients. Balanced spices. One of our frequented spots.

Used to be a fav but we've had too many issues with oyster sauce showing up in our dishes and ketchup in the too sweet and saucey pad thai.

o i will be back! Fresh BBQ pork everyday at 11. great food, awesome little find.
(4)Olivia H.
(4)Jennie M.

Coconut juice is amazing- a must order served with fresh young coconut in the glass. Pra Ram sauce was on point- yummy, plentiful. Salads served before the meal were a nice touch. Staff was SO friendly!!!! Hole in the wall but totally totally worth it.

They have very good green curry! not to hot but very good! the staff here are friendly and they got my friend and my food out very fast that is what i like in an restaurant! The fresh salad tofu spring rolls are good, but the fried wantons should have more filling in them.. Overall i would come again if i am in that part of town!

(4)Olivia T.

Love their drunken noodles.

(5)Amanda R.

(3)Violet B.

I learned about this gem from yelp and boy am I glad I did. Food was excellent and the service was great. I'll be back for sure!
