Meh... decent. The food looked good coming out. I ordered a drink recommended by the bartender, it was a bloody mary substituting tequila for the vodka... Not recommended.

Located right next to the Food Truck Court, I chose Sandoval's because it just seemed less trendy. I was right. Good solid food, not AWESOME, but fine for airport ethnic food. Prices were reasonable and my burrito was satisfying.

First of all you have to remember this is an airport. The customers are rushing so the wait staff is. The wait staff was attentive and nice. The drinks were quick and the beer was ice cold. Sometimes, who can't use a cold negro models, even in Portland. The food is good, not great, but for the airport it is better than most. Is there options outside the gates that are better yes. Honestly, who eats outside the gates or gets there 3 hours early to eat, not me. The chicken nachos were good but the cheese was melted on like at home. The enchilada was good and the hard taco shell was fried fresh, not just store bought. In the end, for an airport this was a good stop and I would do it again if in the c gates.

The service was slow, and I wouldn't say friendly. There were 2 serves and they zoomed in and out the kitchen delivering food to tables with minimal interaction with customers. Plus, the waitress still brought me cold water when i asked for warm water because i needed to pop in some pills. The food was alright. I liked the salsa that came with the free chips. I ordered taco plate and i thought the chicken was salty. Edwin liked his beef burrito. I guess this place was as good as a place could get being at the airport terminal. Can't expect too much, right?

  • Sandra C.

As far as the food went, I wish I had gone somewhere else. But, it is airport food after all and I by no means was expecting excellence. The wait staff were friendly, but seemed a little rushed. The drinks and the free chips and salsa were okay at best. Really, it is just getting into a quiet corner away from the kids at the fast food locations that drove me into this hideaway. For that I would give it more stars, but as I need to take the food into consideration and I am a Mexican Food snob of sorts I would say unless you need the booze or the escape from rug-rats, skip this one.

Decent drinks. Stick to the drinks. Full bar. Decent margaritas. Absolutely gawd-awful "Mexican" food. Bland, it is. Flavorless. And bland. Did I mention bland? Yeah. It's bland. That iceberg lettuce and anemic winter tomato, suburban shopping mall style of "Mexican" food. You can do better at PDX, much, much better. There's really no reason to get food here. P.S., Dear Port of Portland, with limited restaurant real estate in the airport, can't you politely kick these people out and replace them with something decent? You're doing a great job with your thoughtful mix of local, regional, and national offerings at fair prices by the way.

After chucking our slice of pizza, we decided to get tanked before our flight. This is not a crime unless you attack the airline attendants. Or yell certain things on the plane. Which we didn't . But we did enjoy really cold beers and great margaritas, had some chips and dip, hot wings...can't remember much. I think we finished the wings. Really bright décor, mostly yellow...Great bartender who kept us entertained. I probably tipped him $100...

Have to give this place a shout out. I've only had their breakfast ham quesadilla, but definitely worth the money. Large chunks of ham, tons of potatoes, and plenty of egg. Very affordable given the airport! All for $6. Great customer service too!

Let's start with the Darling Bartender fast sweet ,on her game! Now for the visual your at the bar staring into a small kitchen with 2 grungy lookin' dudes microwaving everything, then you look down and notice a full pack of store bought tortillas on the floor that they are literally stepping over and sometimes on!!! OMG who would order food here EVER! After literally 30 minutes scruffy dude #2 notices he's been stepping on them, finally picks them up and DOES NOT THROW THEM AWAY!! What did he do with them?? Run don't walk to Henry's Tavern just a few steps away!!!

What we ordered: Shredded Beef Nachos "We" is definitely a must. Two people can have a solid meal with this one. We ate everything on the plate and left satisfied. The serving size was more than generous and the actual nachos were nothing to write home about, but if you're at PDX, chances are good you're on you're way home soon enough anyway.

I ate here on Tuesday as I was waiting for my flight out of Portland, returning home to SoCal. First time for me. I was considering the Bier Stube, down a ways in that wing, but time was short and it was packed, so I decided to give Sandoval's a try. I am glad I did. First off, I was delighted to see that they serve Negra Modelo beer on tap. Stop the bus, I'm getting off here! One of my favorites! I sallied up to the bar and ordered one. The bartender drew a very cold 16 ouncer and asked if I would like something to eat. Since I had read the posted menu before entering the I ordered then and there. I had the salmon tacos which were fresh and tasty but small, not full sized. Had they been called "Taquitos" it would have been more honest advertising. They came with beans and rice which were both fresh and tasty as well. I successfully resisted the urge for a second beer, knowing that if my plane got stuck on the tarmac I would need to deal with rest room availibilty so I did not. Since the old prostate works just fine, the 16 ouncer stayed inside until I got back home into my own bathroom (too much information?). 32 ounces may not have held quite so comfortably. Price for the food was somewhat high, but hey, its an airport venue, so I dealt with it. The food was fresh, the beer was cold, but since the tacos were so small, one star off. Yeah, I would eat here again, should the opportunity arise, but all things being equal, and not crowded, I will try the Bier Stube.

Super bad Flautas. Worst I ever had. Rice was caked. Service was also a bit slow. Took a long while to get chips and salsa. I should have read the Yelp reviews before sitting down but I'm so used to Portland having wonderful restaurants. I'll never come back.

    (1)
  • Brandon M.

Not much to say here. Worst carne Asada I've ever had. They cut up the meat and over seasoned it. The guacamole was tasteless. Would not recommend at all.

    (2)
  • Dustin W.

Many power outlets and usb chargers which is great. Mixed drinks are watered down and horrible. Ceviche was just bad. If you need a cell charge and a beer, might be ok. The place was busy and service was VERY slow. We had to hunt down a menu and server. Several people left after sitting for awhile and no service.

Joey Harrington thinks this is Portland's best Mexican--- I just realized he only played in Detroit and Atlanta. He needs to get out a little bit

  • Erica M.

I always come here before a flight, the food is good and they ask me if I want a single or a double when I order a Bloody Mary, instead of just automatically serving a double and charging huge prices. Katherine makes awesome cosmos and is a great bartender, she is what bumped this review to 5 stars

I've eaten at Sandoval's at least 30-40 times, so I feel like I can adequately evaluate their food and service. First, the good: the food is generally adequate. A beans, rice and cheese burrito is just that and nothing more and will get you through the day. But, on balance, I've just had too many bad experiences. Here's a list: About 50% of the time, the Arroz con pollo soup is half chicken fat. Disgusting. Last week I ordered a veggie burrito, had a couple of bites, unwrapped it and the thing fell apart because it wasn't wrapped, like, at all. I brought it back and the cashier sneered at me, told me she wouldn't remake it because I'd had a couple of bites. Then, they showed it to Luis and he said they'd remake it but sneered at me. No one apologized or made me feel anything but a criminal. You nickle and dime for everything. Like sour cream. And, my favorite experience was when your credit card machine crashed midway through my transaction. The staff wouldn't let me leave with my food because they weren't certain if I'd paid or not. I offered to give them my number and they could call me to return if it didn't. They said no. I asked if we could cancel the whole thing and they said no that the machine had probably charged me. I asked if they could credit me the amount if I was charged. Again, no. So, I awkwardly stood there for THIRTY minutes and then I was stuck with a cold burrito that I didn't want anymore. Thanks guys, but we're finished. Word on the street is that Pok Pok, Koi Fusion, Grilled Cheese Grill and Salt and Straw are set to open in the food cart area next week. I hope Sandoval's takes this as an opportunity to improve.

Great food and price for a quick sit down meal. The staff was very attentive and we easily got in and out in 45 minutes without feeing rushed. If you are debating whether or not to get the medium or spicy salsa -- I recommend the spicy as the medium is a bit on the bland side.

    (4)
  • Pedro D.

Horrible service. It was empty and Mike the waiter was ignoring us. When Mike finally came he didn't say hello, he just threw the menu and left. He came back 10 minutes later, courtesy and customer service where not on the menu. Food took for ever to come out. The drinks were pretty good, the food was better than expected. When it came to get the check, Mike the poor excuse of a waiter was no where to be found. If you are in the Portland airport avoid this place.

  • A L C.

I've never had better airport food, and would actually eat there often if the restaurant was in my hometown. The salsa was great, & the server was truly fun and nice. The bartender even turned the TV back on when he was closing down and the game went into OT. Margaritas were spot on. Kept our celiac healthy-no cross contamination, not an easy feat.

  • Joe B.

I didn't have anything to eat here but I stopped to have a corona before my flight can't say anything bad about them typical airport prices people were nice like I said all I did was have a beer though get the person sitting next to me did say that the food was good

  • Paul H.

Well, it could have better. It should have been better. I wanted it to be better. But it was just average or slightly worse than average fish tacos...at least corn tortilla, not flour. But brownish guacamole? Ok it tasted ok, but made yesterday (add a little fresh lemon, guys). Salsa was slightly better than average, but bland, flavorless black beans and rice made up for it. Try harder, guys. Fresher, Fresher, Fresher. ...and this was the same day the Wall Street a Journal published a story about great restaurants are jockeying to get into airports around the country to cater to a traveling public willing spend money for good food. This place wasn't included in that story...no accident there.

    (1)
  • S S.

Just ate there and the black bean chili was actually surprisingly good. They forgot to give me chips for the first 20 mins but our server was really friendly but also busy so didn't hold it against him. My biggest gripe is that they most definitely water down tequila shots (and cocktails maybe?) I got a double of tequila before I left (long flight) and did not need a lime etc because the tequila taste was so mild (and I ordered house so it should have been strong/crappy) Lucky for them I was late for my flight so I didn't have time to complain. But don't charge $9 for maybe 1/2 a shot of tequila. Total BS.

  • Melina H.

This is our go to spot for a drink when we are leaving from that side of the airport. We've never eaten there but we have always gotten good service at the bar. Margaritas are good and beer is cold... Yes!

    (3)
  • Siobhan F.

The California burrito was good. The quesadillas had way too much cheese. But what irked me was that I had to pay my bill before I was ready. If I wanted anything more I was told that I could open a new bill. The server forced the bill on me and then told me to pay right away.

    (3)
  • Darcy N.

Two stars for good service. Friendly and prompt. But the food blows. The drinks are overpriced. In many US airports this would be good food, but in PDX, I highly suggest you go someplace else.

    (2)
  • Kent H.

I liked it! The chips were on the thin side which I prefer, and the salsa was fresh. A margarita was 8 bucks for a one ounce shot, or 11 for two ounces of tequila. I'll let you guess which one I had. It was nice and "limey", and not super sweet syrupy. My server recommended the chile rellenos, so I had the combo with one of those and a tamale. Both very good, especially for airport food. I love fresh jalapeños and got one diced up. I poured it on my plate and indulged away. Nice and spicy! If I go through this airport again, I will definitely plan a return trip.

  • Hyun J.

Mildly disappointing for quality/value amidst great choices in PDX!

  • Cooper H.

Located between gates C 15 and C 17, this restaurant/bar has plenty of seating, power (USB and 110 V) for your computer/phone and a nice views of the runway. The staff is friendly, they mix their drinks right, and they serve food prompt, including to go orders. Their prices are average for airports, and food can be a bit bland. I often end up here when passing through pdx.

    (4)
  • Jason B.

This little Mexican shop is in the Portland airport. There are not a lot of food choices so I imagine they get slot of service. I got the Buretto. Turns out you got to ask for salsa/pico to be put in it. So I got beef beans and rice in a wrap. Still though the serving sizes was great.

    (3)
  • Peter L.

Im at a loss for words. ...beer was good service was decent until we got our week old tamales. ...terrible! No offer to fix the issue...paid the tab and left....never again!! I miss gustav's pdx

    (1)
  • Don B.

Stick with the drinks. Just trust me on this one. There are too many other decent food options at PDX to eat this food. It was not good. The "tortilla soup" was tomato soup with a bunch of cheese, raw onions, tortilla strips and sour cream. The nachos were very bad. This is definitely HMSHost food. The service is friendly and prompt, and I saw fresh squeezed limes going in to a marg, which is promising. But the food was really disappointing. This is what I get for not checking Yelp before eating!

lunch before security check...sandoval's mexican...breakfast taco $two.forty-nine...but, a large soda $one.ninety-nine?...lobby table seated...finding the taco filled...cheese and jalapeno galore..thick filling and not bad...raising a soda and farewell portland...

Bland uninspired Mexican food. The beans were terrible. The steak tacos were nothing special. Will not eat there again.

Decent airport fare: really nice waitresses and ok food. Free chips and salsa, good selection of local beers. Not a fan of the carnitas burrito.

  • Lucas M.

I said that i would never give a restaurant a 5 star review that does not serve mt. Dew. Heather changed my mind. Instead of just apologizing she offered me options and made me a special raspberry sprite she made herself at the bar. She was pleasant a super friendly. Not to mention the nachos were bomb!

    (5)
  • Mike F.

It's airport food. Pretty bland airport food at that. However, their salsa is decent and with enough Tapatio, the tostada salad is ok. The servers are all talkers, which can be entertaining.

    (2)
  • Dave B.

Things started out good, but quickly went downhill. Pros: Power outlet and two USB ports at almost every table, excellent location near C17, really good fries, & quick service (for the most part), good price for airport food. Cons: My burger was a well done, grey patty, they forgot to put the sauce on it (it took 10 minutes to get the sauce that was supposed to come with it), the raw onion slab on my burger was 1/3" thick & the waitress forgot to bring me things. re: the onion slab -- I carry calipers. It really measured 1/3" thick!!!

  • Nikki H.

Stopped here during my layover for some quick lunch. Ordered the tortilla soup and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was and for only $8!! Very fresh ingredients and a made from scratch taste make this some of the best mexican I've had at an airport. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick an affordable bite to eat between flights.

  • Maestro L.

not bad food for an airport place. Service was friendly but just a tad slow

    (3)
  • Jimmy W.

I wouldn't normally give a place 5 stars, but for breakfast at an airport, this is probably the best I've seen. The service was awesome and the food was high quality and mostly under $10.

Lame... after the stellar lunch at ORD at Fronteria Grill, I thought that perhaps Sandoval might be of the same ilk. Not.

Really good food, free chips and salsa and good service. What else could you ask for at an airport location.

    (5)
  • Bree C.

Their food is ok, and decently priced for the airport. Where this place really earns their salt... is their long islands. Delicious, and way stronger than you'd expect for an airport place. You can make anything a double for fairly inexpensive I need a double long island when I fly, which isn't very often. I'm a shaky, nervous, turbulence fearing wreck, that giggles obnoxiously when I'm a nervous. You know those slow giggles where you can hear the breaths in between? Strong liquor calms the fears and keeps the giggles without sounding as much like a psycho. I don't care if I fly out at 10 am, I'm having a double long island, maybe 2, with a burrito, enchilada, or chips and salsa. This helps me relax; unfortunately, once the biggest part of the buzz is gone by the time you take off, or shortly thereafter, but then you're stuck. Here's an idea.... Time release liquor, like they have for medications. Perfect for long flights, or trips to the in-laws. Anyway, Sandoval's is the only way I get through my flights, and a pretty good excuse to drink in the morning.

    (4)
  • Christy H.

Meh. This place is okay. The food is alright for the airport. I have had the nachos before. The chicken tasted canned and there was a LOT of cheese! Maybe too much cheese? The service depends entirely on the person. The chick that is always here is super fast and friendly. There is however a guy with dark hair and dark eyes that is a total dits!! He can't remember an order you just told him 1 minute ago. The bonus here is the drink! Great selection of liquor and the margaritas really hit the spot.

Breakfast burrito with bacon is cooked to order. Its a pretty good size. Its definitely not cheap at $9.

  • Amy V.

Traversing PDX even years later, I find Sandoval's - again, not the one in the terminal, but the counter before security - is still my favorite choice for an airport burrito outside of IAH, and I wanted to add that their breakfast tacos and burritos are the kind that every self-respecting lover of Tex-Mex longs for, secretly, quietly, as they go about their lives pretending like they wouldn't kill someone, right now, for a good plate of beans and rice. Still delicious, still reliable, please don't ever change.

    (5)
  • Alfredo M.

Let's get this out of the way first...no, Sandoval's is not the best or most authentic Mexican food you're going to have in Portland...but keep in mind that it's in the freakin' airport (even if it is the lovely, progressive and award-winning Port of Portland aka PDX). You know you're coming here to grub and grab a drink before your flight (likely Southwest based on the gate locations) and Sandoval's does a good job of providing what you need - nothing less, nothing more. The salsa is surprisingly tasty and most of the dishes are a solid C+. Again, not bad for an airport. Prices are as reasonable as you'd expect and I've always found the service to be friendly, funny, and attentive. A stop at Sandoval's has become tradition for my fiance and I before flying off for a weekend of fun somewhere...you'll enjoy it too if you if you keep your expectations modest and never forget that you're in the freakin' airport.

  • Jon G.

So to start, let's keep in mind that this is an airport restaurant. So with that said, you shouldnt expect a lot. However, I have no recollection of what I ate. What I do remember is that the guy serving us started out being funny and helpful, then not so much. I got a margarita with lime juice instead of that froofy syrup. It was big and good, but not worth what I paid. Then we had some beers. I think I'd need to come back to see if it leaves a better impression on me.

  • Drew S.

I actually went to the bar connected to this place (Margeritas?), and ordered a breakfast quesadilla. I was a little nervous when I heard a microwave ding shortly before my food came out. I don't think it was mine though. The egg was fried well, the bacon crispy and thick, and the potatoes in it were decently cooked. The server was very friendly, especially for 6AM. Other than that, there was nothing overly special about this airport locale. It was a place to sit and wait until my flight arrived and have an Irish coffee...

    (3)
  • Eric B.

I tend to agree that it's best to stick with the drinks here at Sandoval's and that there are better food options within PDX. However, once you're past Security and among the Southwest gates, this and Gustav's are really the only options where you can sit down, order food, and enjoy an Adult beverage while waiting for the lineup to begin. It's also pleasant to look out the window and either feel comfortably protected against the Portland drizzle or amazed looking out on clear day.

First off I was very excited for the Portland airport. If their was a zero stars rating I would have picked. I am a foodie but am easily impressed with honest even cheap yummy food. They served us pork that smelled as if it had been kept on a hot make line for about two weeks and then reheated that morning. It smelled like rotting meat. I ate one big bite (which was about half the taco since it was tiny). One or two more days and it would have sent us to the hospital. I was sick for the next 12 hours. Disgusting! I cant believe they couldn't smell it! No flavor in the chicken taco's although the meat was not old! The beans were taken out of a can and served with tons of half melted Cheddar cheese on top. No onion, garlic, paprika, cumin, no nothing! Terrible salsa, terrible tortillas, terrible portions. The servers were nice and I felt horrible that they had to serve that garbage. We ate one out of four taco's and left the entire order of carnitas intact. I payed, tipped and politely told the owner that he literally gave us rotten meat and to go check it out and don't make someone else sick. I wanted him to know I had no other intention just horrible horrible horrible food. I can not express enough how awful this food was and how disappointed I was. I was looking forward to lunch all day. :(

This is a great place to stop before or after a flight. Friendly service and good prices. The food is good and the atmosphere is not dreary. You can view most SWA gates from here.

  • Ehow C.

Two words to describe my burrito: bland, mushy. The hidden bits of avocado were okay, but their California burrito just didn't do anything for me. On the plus side, it was super cheap ($5) and generous in portions, especially for airport food, but lack of flavor can ruin both of these positives pretty quickly.

    (2)
  • Jennifer H.

First off, I work at a Mexican place so I'm a little baise here. The food was good. Kinda small for nearly 8 bucks but its an airport I kind of realize this is going to be the norm. It was good though. My drink was just alright. Thats it. Im almost giving it the 3 stars alone for the fact I couldn't stop eating the chips and salsa. IT WAS WONDERFUL.

  • Denise C.

I ordered a De Garden salad 'to go" prior to boarding my flight yesterday. This salad comes with salad greens, red onions, tomatoes, avacado and your choice of steak, chicken or shrimp. When I opened my to go box, much to my surprise, I found NO avocado, white onions instead of red onions (white onions are less expensive than red), three smal wedges of tomatoes, very little meat and one small container of salad dressing. The box, of course, was full of lettuce, but I was not expecting to eat a box of lettuce for lunch in the plane. It is very unethical for a business to take your money and do a bait and switch when they know you can't come back to do anything about it. Beware of to go orders at this place. I am sure they would not have done this to me if I had eaten at the restaurant instead of taking a "to go" order..

    (1)
  • Marcus J.

I haven't been to prison, but I imagine the food tastes better there. I don't know why the Port of Portland allowed this restaurant to occupy it premises. Surprised that this restaurant is still in business.

This is the third worse place I have been to in Portland. I know I am not buying anything but many times I have eaten or had a drink here and all of a sudden, I am sitting at a bench on the outside of the restaurant, not bothering a soul, and the Bartender not only CALLED AIRPORT POLICE (who by the way laughed at him) and then tried to regulate and kick me out. Boo! I hate this place it is not colored people friendly and it is supposed to be a Mexican Restaurant! Don't go here!

  • Jessica N.

I give the bartender a 5, but the place still holds at 3 in my book. Waiting for my departure to Oakland; the stressful and lack of respect from the security line for my mother in a wheelchair left me needing a beer. A margarita bar over yonder, just my luck. Sat at the bar, ordered my Stella and watched the basketball game. The bartender didn't seem fazed I was there after taking my order since I had to ask for my free chips & salsa. She gave a lot of attention to the fellas next to me, com'on tips tips tips... So I was close to finishing my beer and leaving. Great, my father joins me and suckers me into buying him a beer. I'm sitting there longer. But my opinion on the bartender and the other patrons' change after a crazy lady shows a bit of craziness... Conversation with the fella to my left, crazy lady somehow involves herself (at first she wasn't crazy since she was on her phone the whole time). Gives me a story about her car being stolen and I'm about to give her sympathy... But then suddenly: Crazy Lady (CL) to Bartender "Hey, how much was my meal?" Bartender (BT) in response "$13.99" CL "How come I only got $6 back? I ain't no penny pincher, what gives you the right to take my penny?! Where your manager at? You the manager? I have the nerve to get you fired!" BT "Ma'am, I'm sorry. I apologize for that, would you like this nickel?" CL curses, grabs her stuff and leave... And then argues with SW over stuff. The patrons and myself stand there dumbfounded and near close to kicking this woman's arse. However, the bartender was calm, apologized, offered a higher incentive and left it be. As much as the patrons and I wanted to storm off after the crazy lady, the bartender kept her composer giving her a 5. Side note: Crazy lady wasn't on my flight, most likely going to Reno and probably got escorted out since she was cut off at the bar. Didn't have the food, can't expect much since it's in the airport, but the salsa was good enough!

Airport location is glorified Taco Bell with a bar. Menu is misleading. Sopapilla - PILLOW - not here - it was Cinnamon Crispas from Taco Bell. If you order the tostada salad - choice of meat or veggies - and choose veggies, be sure to ASK for grilled veggies or else you get the basic taco salad from Taco Bell. Not worth the stop. Better options, Flying Elephants and some of the others. I gave them a try. We used to like their other locations, but the service became so horrible we stopped. Thought the food would be the same quality - not even close. Don't bother, keep walking.

Sandoval's at PDX Airport was just short of awful. Their food is average at their in-town locations, so I was hoping beyond hope for a decent lunch while waiting for a family member's flight to arrive. My hopes were not answered, though. After surveying the fairly disappointing options in the main concourse (PDX has great food INSIDE the security gates) I settled on Sandoval's by default. After all, how hard is it to screw up a burrito? Pretty easy, evidently. Their grilled steak burrito was bland with no detectable hot sauce (as I had requested) and the tortilla literally disintegrated within 3 bites. I ended up with a yard sale of burrito where I had to pick the meat out by hand and throw the rest away. To make matters worse, the meat was tough and flavorless. You might have better success getting take out from Stanford's or Beaches versus Sandoval's or the other food options in the main concourse.

One of order of chicken nachos minus the onions and I was set for my long day flying home. Plenty of toppings, however, much of the cheese melted down onto the paper lining and couldn't be eaten. Great value, large portion of nachos for $5.99!

Located in the main concourse outside security, this stop is a good choice for healthy airport fare. Staff was very responsive, service was fast. Food was tasty and hot. I had a chicken burrito with no rice and with guacamole - quite good! Definitely will be back!

Due to a US Airways flight cancellation on October 22, 2012, we decided to have lunch here during our long wait. Oh, the joy of having a meal within the Airport! Are we dressed properly for these eating venues? So many bad choices to be made, so we checked Yelp. Sandoval's was nearby, so we figured why not? We were seated right away and ordered two draft beers. For lunch I ordered a Chimichanga with black beans and ground beef. My wife ordered the Taco Plato. Our meal arrived in roughly 15 minutes as we were in no rush. Everything was as it should have been. Our total bill was $27.48 + tip. If time allows, I recommend Sandoval's for lunch or dinner as you'll regret not having done so once you're on the airplane.

Wow...you would figure that an airport restaurant would have a little speed but no...I waited more than 20 minutes fot a to go order! the surly bartender was less than charming and when another bartender adked if I needed something, I explainef I was wsiting for a to go and it was very slow. Her response? Nothing I can do about that!

Great breakfast taco. The salsa and pico were really good. I will have breakfast here again!

For an airport restaurant, this is a terrific place. We saw lots of airline employees eating here, which I bet is a good sign. The breakfast burrito and the breakfast quesadilla were both freshly made and delicious. And the prices were startling low. I think each item was under $4.

After reading the magazine, about 2 hours has passed since I found out my flight was delayed. Now what do I do? I walk around Portland International airport holding my magazine, water, and then I head to this place, the one place that is open and is closest to my gate. I plop myself at the bar. The people at the bar were in the same boat as I...waiting for their flight. Hmm...so, I ordered a glass of wine and some guac and chips. I sat there vegetating half of the time and the rest of time talking to a fellow Oregonian heading to Oakland to visit. The servers were friendly and asked what channel I wanted on the TV to help ease my pain. Thanks for the great service.! About an hour and half passes...I didn't feel like eating anymore. I didn't feel like drinking anymore. I just wanted to go home...I couldn't...I still had about 45 minutes to kill. Now what?

Great, made to order tacos. Fresh ingredients. Friendly and quick service. This hits the spot before you board your plane.

Okay had to eat some dinner while having a five hour layover in Portland. Let me tell you--Expensive!!! $11 for a freaking cheese quesadilla; is absolutely ridiculous. We waited more than one hour to get even our appetizer. There wasn't even that many people in the restaurant. You have to weigh ur options nasty fastfood for a way cheaper price or something more " home cooked" and outrageously priced. I know for next time, i will certainly take my business else where. I'm too impatient to wait over an hour for some grub.

We stopped here for margaritas before hopping on our flight. We splurged on the Herradura Reposado ($11 each) and were pretty disappointed. The sour mix they use tastes pretty nasty, likely chock-full of high fructose corn syrup or some other nastiness. What a waste of good tequila! We also snacked a bit. She had some so-so bean and cheese dip and I had the ceviche. The food was better than the drinks but really bland, even for airport food.

On our way thru PDX to MCO for one of our many Disney stints, we decided to stop here. There weren't that many choices, and Mexican is usually ok. The menu was nothing special, neither was the ambiance. Granted, it was dark outside and a jetway was right by the window blocking my view. But Jack was able to see the Southwest 737 with Diana Ross Winglets. The waitress took a while to come over, but after the intial drink order, the bartender took over: YES!!!!! What a sweetie! He sort of advised against my choice of chicken with rice soup, stating that he preferred pho ga at the local Vietnamese joint. Well, he was right. Even after doctoring up what looked quite nice with fresh onions, tomato, cilantro, chicken with a bunch of lime from the bar, it still was too salty. He was actually going to take it off our tab. But I just wasn't that hungry and it wasn't that bad that I wanted to take advantage. Anyway, the place would get 5 stars, maybe 6 for him, 2 for the food.

Not a bad choice as far as PDX is concerned: beats eating at Wendy's and they've got some healthier options available.

I don't really understand all of the negative reviews, but from my experience here, I can't say anything negative about it. First of, you get free chips and salsa. I don't think you will find many establishments in an airport that offers anything for free. The chips were fresh and thin. They advertise that their tortillas are made fresh daily. So I would assume that's what they used to make the chips. The chips was pleasantly good. The salsa was also fresh and tasted better than most mexican restaurants I've been to. They didn't skimp on the chips and salsa either. They came out with a large basket and bowl of salsa. Very surprising for a mexican restaurant and the fact that it's in an airport also. The service was average. Nothing really stood out besides our waiter being attentive and courteous. I had the fajita and it came with beans, rice and their freshly made tortillas. Overall it was good. Not the greatest. The only reason why I am giving this place 4 stars is because it's in an airport and most food at these places are pretty mediocre. This would be the place I spend my money the next time I'm in this airport.

Last call at 9:30 pm :( Should be open later. I ordered at Strawberry Margarita... well it's definitely no where near the best margarita I had. It was very "alcohol-y" and the strawberry flavour was a little fake. Then when the bill for the 1 margarita came... I was thinking somewhere in the range of $6-8. But nope... it was a whopping $9! I couldn't believe it!! I don't even pay that much for a drink here in Vancouver (even though it's very possible that one could for a very good drink). But it was awful. The menu items were not very inspiring for a "Mexican restaurant." I mean they had fettucine at a MEXICAN restaurant... Beer and high balls were a lot more reasonably priced. $5.50-$6ish. The best thing about the place was the server, but service was just average.

This is pretty good in the context of an airport food/fueling station. Pretty fresh and reasonably tasty, above average in the context of an airport. But it was pretty weird that it took a fairly long time to get food when I was the only one ordering. Still, best option within eyeshot as far as I could tell.

We gave Sandoval's a try while waiting for a flight. The prices are typical for airline restuarents. We were quit pleased with the service and the 3-4 good local draft beer on tap (at a good price.) I had the chicken & rice soup & my wife had the rockfish tacos - both were good. An added bonus is that there are a number of tables w/electric outlets so we could charge our phones while we ate.

Edible but not enjoyable. Got the rockfish tacos with black beans & rice. Fish was fishy, and had no seasoning at all. The salsa added some life, but tasted metallic. I' guessing the beans were heated straight out of the can. Rice had flavor, but likely onion or garlic powder, not fresh. So that was the food. Now for the service. I got mine to go. During my brief time in the restaurant, the (male) server called me more terms of endearment than my husband, reeked of alcohol & forgot to give me back my credit card (nearly missed boarding call). Definitely won't be back.

Airport food is what is and you're kinda stuck with it. The food here is nothing fabulous, but my kids love nachos. So we get nachos. The thing that stands out the most is the slow, slow, super slow service!!! You would think since this restaurant is in an airport terminal, the service would be a wee bit more expeditious. But, it's not. At all. We gave this place a second chance this weekend since the kids's flight was delayed, but it still took 30-min for a bowl of tortilla soup, nachos, 2 cokes, and an iced tea to arrive. I had to ask for the check and delivered my debit card to the server to pay. The last time we were there a few months ago, we waited 30-minutes for nachos and finally said we had to go or risk missing my son's flight. He wound-up with a to-go container of nachos on his flight! Unless you've got a long delay or arrived super early, I wouldn't chance it! I will say they have great iced tea and had no problem giving me a to-go cup for the road!

We were stuck at the airport and were hungry. It was just OK(we were hungry). Had the huevos rancheros! Probably wouldn't so again! It wasn't bad, just ok!

Now that they're serving Ninkasi Total Domination IPA on tap I give this place 5 big stars. I mean come on who eats food at the airport anyways. If you're in the C concourse stop by for a beer.

Scale of 1-10 (single visit): 4 Food 8 Service 6 Atmosphere 5 Value Like ew. Okay, it wasn't inedible, it just had nothing about it that made me WANT to eat it. The Southwest Chicken Burrito is what I'm talking about. I thought there'd be something Southwest about it. Maybe a sauce, but more likely some spices on the chicken. Nada. No cheese or spices are sauces. Bland might start to describe it. Maybe it's not fair to have an Arizonan reviewing a menu item dubbed "Southwest" in Oregon...

No I can't complain about airplane food and I can't complain about fast food style Mexican @ PDX but I was really hopeful. I ordered an egg, potato and cheese burrito and was suckered into getting bacon that was too stringy. The whole thing was almost $7.00 with no drink or frills. When you order take heed that when they ask if you want "whatever" in that or a type of whatever you gotta always ask, "Is that extra?" Pepita's in Beaverton does this with their chips. This place fills the void if your hungry and in a junk food mood but if you can wait, then wait.

I'm reviewing the Sandovals on Concourse C of the Portland Airport. I was there on a Monday for their "Cinco de Monday" specials ($5 Margaritas and $5 burritos). The wait staff was super friendly and I ordered the Vegetarian burrito. The burrito was quite large and I put their fresh made salsa on it. Delicious! They do have a bar side and a restaurant side. I sat by the window and watched the airport. It wasn't that busy when I was there, so that might effect the service.

Ian sitting here now staring at what they call nachos. Terrible. Greasy. Poor quality beans and cheese and off flavor ground beef on top. Can't recommend under ant circumstances.

Gross drinks and bad service. Just because this is an airport restaurant and the customers are more than likely to be passing through does not mean that the customer service should go out the window. I stopped in here to buy a couple drinks before my flight and the bartender Christa was just rude, rude, rude! I was sitting at the bar, taking my time drinking my beverage and because I was not consuming my drink fast enough she told me I couldn't sit at the bar because other customers wanted to buy drinks. Hello, I am a paying customer too! Not only that but the over priced drinks she served me were gross and tasted like cough syrup. I didn't want to stick around to order food with this bad service. So I decided to take my business else where in the terminal to the other near by restaurant/bar where I not only ordered drinks but food and they had superior customer serivce. I come to Portland quite often and I will never spend another dime at this place!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
