Great local place. Nice owner and staff. Free wifi. Amazing coffee - Sleepy Monk - roasted in Cannon Beach Oregon!
(4)Mariah M.
I love this place! I've been going here for a year and it's never a disappointment. Great customer service, inviting atmosphere and great coffee! Try the Dirty Hippie, it's my favorite!
(5)Mike F.
Always great coffee. That Mayan Mocha is the bomb. Now they used punchd for tracking your drink purchase. Download or at your app store. Friendly always. Coffee is so smooth with a slight kick.
(5)David C.
I was expecting my mocha to be too sweet, but it was perfect instead. Friendly family run establishment. I'll definitely be back.
(5)Ava J.
This is, hands down, the best neighborhood coffee place. Ever. The service is mellow, the atmosphere eclectic, and the coffee is out of this world. Throw away your Starbucks Gold Card and support this amazing local business! One trip in will make you a fan. It did me!
(5)Cheryl Frances C.
This is a great, friendly neighborhood local cafe. The owners are friendly and the coffee is good.
(5)Jessica K.
So refreshing to have an independent, sustainably-sourced coffee and tea shop in the cedar mill area. Fair-trade, organic, and locally-roasted coffee from Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters located in Cannon Beach. I live close by and it's nice to have a responsible café that allows me to get high-quality and slavery-free coffee without having to go all the way to downtown Portland. They've got all of the coffee regulars and not a Starbucks macchiato misnomer in addition to locally-brewed Brew Dr. Kombucha on tap and in 14oz bottles. I'm excited to try the Mayan Mocha the next time I go and need free wifi and a quiet place to read or get some work done or meet up with some friends for a warm atmosphere over warm drinks and pastries. The layout of the shop looks almost like someone's cabin living room and looks like it fits about 30 people. I do wish they served me my latte in a mug and it was a little too milky, but a solid brew. I hope this place lasts forever and serves as motivation for other independents to pop up outside of the Portland city proper.
(4)Jenny T.
my friend took me there the other day because she needed espresso beans, of which she only gets from here. I got the dirty chai? It is chai with 2 shots of espresso (STRONG STUFF) and a scone (YUM!). My friend got the vanilla latte (also very good) and a lemon scone? It is a local place and the man on the logo was working there =). They are very sweet and helpful. I love that their menus are neat and I can actually read what was on the menu. I will go back again soon.
(5)Jessica H.
It took a minute to explain to the cashier what I wanted (cold brew latte with an extra shot), but the end product was delish!! Yummy cold brew and friendly staff. The kombucha was good too, we tried the ginger cayenne lemon grass. We'll be back :)
(5)Terry C.
Very homey, with no pretentiousness. Lattes made artfully and delicious! Tried the dirty hippie chai with hemp milk for the first time. Really enjoyed it, hope to get it again
(5)Ling Tzu W.
I am constantly super amazed at the little neighborhood coffee shops that I find. It is a cute little coffee hangout that serves Sleepy Monk Roaster coffee. The benefit of this place is that it is next to a pretty good pet groomer so you can just drop your pet off to get groomed and come next door for coffee and hangout. As explained to me that their expresso mix is a mixture of light roast and dark roast so that is why my Americano tastes so well balanced. I would definitely come back here and hangout some more.
(4)Justine E.
I work right next door at The Muttley Crew and I go here almost every day. The coffee and other drinks are amazing and the baked goods they sell are some of the best I've had. I can't recommend this place enough. The staff is really friendly and the owner is great. I love this place.
(5)Jenny H.
Wanted to find a place to do some work and stumbled upon here. They have pastries from decadent creations which was nice and I tried some macaroons and a salted chocolate cookie. Neither was good enough that I'd want to buy it again. The worst part was my ice coffee that was very watered down. I saw that it was made from some syrup or concentrated coffee where they put some at the bottom then filled the rest of the cup with water. I've never seen that before and I would have preferred the more traditional brewed coffee that is ice or cold brewed coffee. The table I sat at was also dirty with bits of food over it and was so old that when I lifted up my plastic cup I saw a ring of the paint went missing with it.
(2)Hannah E.
Am I missing something? This is the old dusty diner version of coffee shops with a random compiling of outdated furniture seemingly collected off the "free" section on Craigslist. The service & indie soundtrack was good, but with baked goods they hand you a Dixie plate and point you to a toaster against the wall if you feel like warming it up. A great place to bring your grandma in case she feels like sitting in the same chair she bought 80 years ago and people watch the hundreds of people going through the Taco Bell drive through across the street.
(1)Bradley S.
They have great chia that's made for them , I got it blended it was so good , tea choice was awesome lose leaf so it's able to be way better than a stash or so. Owner is kind and speaks well of competition. Music is wonderful the whole place was awesome. Watched them help the next person who was extremely pickey she left happy and they let her sample coffee without being negative.
(5)Ashok R.
Fantastic! coffee! Looks like family run. Great tasting coffee compared to the over burnt sensation from Starbucks! Organic too!!!"
(5)Mohit J.
Decent coffee but I don't get the point of advertising organic coffee when you can't even use organic milk...disappointed...
(3)Sara W.
Delicious coffee! I am a fan of their iced vanilla latte with hemp milk. I had no idea what it would taste like and the barista was kind enough to let me sample the milk before I ordered it, which I thought was very nice. A gem tucked away in a suburb bombarded with Starbucks.
(4)Melody Y.
I adore this place. It's nice to see a coffee shop that aspires towards solid coffee quality and branches out beyond the usual Starbucks franchise. Plus, they're located in a rather suburban are of Portland, which doesn't always have the hip coffee shops that are littered everywhere in downtown Portland. Poppa's Haven uses Sleepy Monk roasters from Cannon Beach, which is pretty bold and smooth. I've ordered things from their Mayan Mocha (decadent yet sharply spicy) to chai to cardamom lattes. The coffee shop is a little dingy and not exquisite, per say, but the baristas are friendly and it's a quiet atmosphere--perfect for getting work done! And lastly, note that the prices are rather expensive; my cardamom latte, for a twelve ounce, cost 4.20 (plus a 50 cent addition for soy milk).
(4)Jamay T.
Well, I don't often consume caffeinated beverages. My excuse, "I'm on vacation..." Recently went to a place called Longbottom and discovered a hemp milk latte. Well now I'm obsessed with it and am trying them anywhere I can get one; the one here being one of the best I've tried so far. I wish I could come back every single day, till I go back to the land of no coffee. Sleepy Monk coffee is great, woweeee!!!
(5)Ty C.
Best coffee shop in the Cedar Mill/Sunset/Bethany area. Great coffee and even better service
(5)Kerry W.
If I could give them more stars, I would! We wandered in here on vacation with our two daughters (8 and 14) for a little coffee treat for the adults and hopes of an option for the girls. The proprietors were so helpful and friendly, giving the girls all their tasty recommendations for flavored steamers. They sold them on toasted marshmallow and chocolate (s'mores) steamers. They fresh brew your choice of iced teas (we had a green and a black - both were wonderful) and they brew Sleepy Monk coffee (which was great in a latte). We topped it off with some wonderful French macaroons, which was a real treat since we have two of us that are gluten free! GF options are always a plus for us. And just as we were getting ready to leave, we noticed they had Dr. Brew kombucha on tap, which I wanted to try since seeing it at the start of our vacation. The owner walked me through all three flavors they had, letting me try each one. So we ended up buying me the Love flavor, and now I wish I could get it at home! I'm really going to miss this place and would certainly come back often if we lived here.
(5)Angela A.
They are always super nice and friendly to me when I go in every morning for my coffee and bagel. It's a great little environment, it's clean and never crowded with a long line. And if there was, I wouldn't mind waiting. I love them way better than Starbucks.
(5)Chris K.
I've only been to this cafe a couple of times. However; the espressos are on point and they seem to actually know how to create a creamy Americano! I recommend this place to people around the skyline area its nearby and a decent place to have your cup of joe
(4)Queen B.
Cute, quiet, friendly place. Loved it! :) Mango Smoothie was delicious.
(5)Em B.
We love Poppa Havens!!!! We love the delicious coffee and chatting with the great service and owners every weekend! It really feels like home. We've been searching for a coffee place since we moved here three years ago and FINALLY stumbled into this one! I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Thanks Poppa Havens!
(5)April B.
There is a richness to this coffee shop down the street from my old high school that does not scream BMW as the wealthy at my old digs once drove; but rather something more down to earth apparent in the wood and monastic qualities of the place. The home baked goods from a local baker sold at this shop are nourishing, delicious, and environmentally good. Any drink I have ever ordered have been fantastic as well. The Muttley Crew is right next door so it is a good stomping ground for me and my dog.
(5)Mike C.
Not to be mistaken for Poppa Shaven Coffee House (that's how I read it when I drove by), this place is indeed a haven and makes some darned good drinks. I'd need another visit to bump them to a five (the atmosphere didn't sell me completely [uncomfortable chairs and weird girl next to us that wouldn't stop making noises]), but my wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our chais. Great foam!
(4)Jeanice T.
Being new to the area I ventured into this little coffee shop. The menu was pretty straight forward and I tried the Mayan Mocha. It was amazing I even loved the whip cream which I usually dont. I will definitely be back.
(5)Hunter S.
THANKS for adding Sundays. And expanding. And staying awesome. Much love for your great service, music, food, and coffee.
(5)Lyle R.
By far the best Mayan Mocha around. Nice and spicy (oh I guess I ask for it extra spicy) but not too sweet. I also recommend the special Mayan whip cream. Love the sampler coffees too while I wait for my drink. Only thing I don't like about Poppa's is the parking lot, it sucks trying to turn South on Murray.
(5)Michael C.
One of the best cappuccinos I've had in Portland. They have a nice selection of drinks and seem to take coffee seriously. The staff also seemed more easygoing and less pretentious than at other high quality coffee houses in the area
(5)Rater X.
Awesome! Serves Sleepy Monk coffee (located Cannon Beach) which is fantastic. Has the quintessential coffee shop look and vibe. The Mayan Mocha is a nice little twist on your standard mocha. Great chai as well. Come in and chill or stop on in on your way down Hwy 26. And make sure you get a pound of beans to go.
(5)Tess P.
Great coffee, and friendly service. The atmosphere inside is nice, and has a good feel. Parking can be a little tricky and it can be hard to get in an out of the parking lot depending on what Traffic is doing. The coffee is top notch!
(4)Anna C.
I absolutely love this place! Poppa is always a great host and when the place isn't too busy, he can be seen chatting with his customers. It's great quality coffee, and as someone who loves to give support to non-chained coffee shops, I absolutely love Poppa's Haven! My friend and I used to study there all the time.
(5)Janet M.
I like this little mom and pop coffee shop. It's in my neighborhood. It had changed hands a number of times until the last couple years or so, now it seems to have settled down. Their mochas are pretty decent, and they have some nice seating, including some outside seating. Free wi-fi too. My daughter likes their cookies. I had a yummy bagel last time. It's not a bad place to hang out.
(3)Emily G.
LOVE this place! I'm a regular. Great service, great coffee, great atmosphere. It's the kind of place that for some reason you just feel kind of cool hanging out at...
(5)Dee H.
As a coffee snob I proudly give this place the highest marks. My only complaint is parking can be challenging at times, but well worth it.
(5)Colleen M.
Absolutely the best latte I've ever had. Hands down. The service is just as good. My new favorite spot!
(5)S L.
The BEST cup of coffee in Portland metro area! They use coffee from The Sleepy Monk roasters in Cannon Beach. Great coffee, wonderful, personal service. (Parking lot is a cumbersome to get out of unless you are going north on Murray, but the excellent java is worth the minor trafic hassle.)
(5)Erin W.
All I have to say is, Rooibus tea latte with hemp milk (and honey and cinnamon). I dream about it. I want it daily. I've only found one other place that even sells it and theirs is not nearly as good. If this place had longer hours I might go broke since the only thing keeping me away is that they're often closed by the time I get home from work. That being said, I do wish they had longer hours and were open Sundays. But yeah, this place rocks. In every way. (Except the hours thing). Go, you won't regret it.
(5)Emily B.
This cafe is a breath of fresh air for coffee lovers who find themselves looking for a Starbucks alternative in this part of Beaverton. They have tasty treats, serve kombucha on tap, have a great tea selection, and serve coffee roasted in cannon beach. We we're impressed with the calm, homey feel and the barista's warm welcome. My drink was delicious and they have several milk alternatives, including hemp! Thanks for the great service, we'll be back!
(5)Erika B.
I discovered Poppas Haven when I started taking my dog to daycare next door. This is a warm, family business that serves up excellent, organic coffee from Sleepy Monk Roasters. They also carry Townshends Kombucha on tap and in bottles,Bagels, an assortment of cakes and pastries from Decadent Creations ( a great, local bakery), and Straw Propeller Oatmeal which comes in unique flavor combinations. The service here is down to earth and unhurried. I enjoy having them in my neighborhood.
(5)Kerbey H.
Good coffee. Good customer service. Quiet and quaint. Outside seating too close to busy street is really only complaint.
(4)Ryoko K.
I love the warm atmosphere that you cannot expect at places like Starbucks. The homemade strawberry scone was very delicious went well with americano. They use locally grown strawberries, which made me even happier ;)
(5)Melville P.
The place had just closed for the night when we pulled in. The owner saw us outside and opened up for us. He made an Americano for my wife and let us use the restroom. We really appreciated his rainy night hospitality and willingness to give us service, even when he didn't have to do so. This is the type of establishment that deserves your dollar.
(4)Melissa L.
The coffee was good, and the pastries looked nummy, but they close at 5pm on Saturday and aren't open at all on Sunday. What's up with that? Maybe the location means they don't get enough business then to make it worth being open? Only know that it cannot become my cafe with these hours.
(3)Ima T.
Great coffee and wonderful owners and workers! Always warm and friendly:) i have been going there for a few years now and take my friends there now too.
(5)Zack F.
I haven't found a great small coffee shop around this area until now. Very inviting and friendly atmosphere, not to mention the latte was one of the best, if not the best I've had. Will definitely be coming back.
(5)Chris W.
The best coffee place I have found in Beaverton!! Friendly employees and atmosphere.
(5)Christine P.
The most important part of being a good coffee house is having really good coffee, and Poppa's Haven doesn't disappoint. They may not have the "atmosphere" of a Starbucks, but unlike Starbucks' coffee, theirs is REALLY good and organic, to boot! I've always been happy with the drinks I've gotten there and appreciate the friendly, personal service. The only suggestion I have for them is to make the seating a little more comfortable... I'd love to see an armchair or 2 in there. If you're in the neighborhood, I definitely recommend you stop in. Note: they are closed on Sundays.
(4)Robert F.
One would think that having an abundance of the world's best coffee houses over the Vista Ridge in Portland would spill over into Beaverton. Alas, the Midwest has an outpost and Beaverton is thy name! There are Starbucks and there are Starbucksesque establishments around the strip malls of Beaverton, but there is only one place that serves Portland style coffee: Poppa's Haven. I wish they served artisan pastries. I wish the ambience was hipper. I wish it wasn't in the indistinguishable waste land of Cedar Mill, but they get the coffee RIGHT! And that is good enough for me.
(3)Jennifer C.
Poppa's Haven is small, but they have the best coffee and baristas ever, yummy pastries and a good selection of tea. They have free wi-fi and the staff is always very friendly. They offer many forms of sweeteners for those of us who do not use sugar and they have a good selection of sugar-free flavorings. I am most impressed with their environmental consciousness and conservatism efforts. This is the only coffee shop I know of where you can recycle your coffee sleeve. There is also the option to buy a handmade knitted/crocheted sleeve to span over many uses. This place might as well be called Poppa's Heaven because truly fells like heaven to me.
(5)André M.
Always a solid choice for coffee in the burbs!
(5)Sam R.
Jerry the owner is what makes this coffee shop great. He will greet you on the way in then have a discussion with you. The coffee is good and if it isn't Jerry will offer to make an Americano coffee for you. Jerry even suggested a Coffee Shop in Cannon beach to go when I'm out that way. It is a small comfortable shop that is great for studying, surfing the web, or just shooting the shit (talking). The only draw back is that they close at 6pm during the week and are closed on Sunday. This is a great little unassuming coffee shop that is well worth going to.
(4)Liana A.
You may feel you have wandered into the kitchen of a large family who left the door open. This is a classic, small but all heart coffee shop. You will like it if you dream of having a little neighborhood place to call your own. You may not like it if you are used to chain coffee business practices. Your barista may have to walk over from the table (you thought (s)he was a customer) to make your drink, but it will be made carefully and uniquely just for you. But as you drink it, you may have to listen to the staff chat and chide each other like family. But you could also jump into the conversation with your two cents, just like family. Also there is a small (tiny) collection of books and dinosaurs for the kiddos. But no highchair. You must be *this* tall to visit the cafe.
(4)A W.
Good coffee in a small, unassuming atmosphere. Very friendly, laid-back staff. (Not the corporate, forced friendliness you get at the well-known coffee chain). They are very sweet to my child and fix a steamer perfect for a child to drink, with whip cream and sprinkles. If you don't want to get out of your car, then go elsewhere.
(5)DeBorah B.
Since moving down to the area, I have been searching for a fun, friendly, neighborhood coffee shop where I can hang out, meet friends and clients and just be. I was disappointed that I couldn't find one in Beaverton like the ones I'd stumbled onto in Portland. At least, that was until I found Poppa's. Jerry and Jane made me feel like a regular the first time I walked through the door. They are about the only place I have found that serves hemp milk products and their offerings for pastries and nothing short of amazing. Love Poppa's. It's now my very own neighborhood spot.
(5)Penny F.
My favorite coffee place. Great products, lovely people! My fav drinks are the Mayan Mocha and the Gun Powder iced blended drink
(5)Lyn T.
Poppa's Haven is a great find. This small, unassuming coffee shop jumped out at me one day. They serve Sleepy Monk coffee(not the fabled Stumptown), which is a small quantity coffee roaster out of Cannon Beach, OR- and the coffee/esspresso served doesn't suffer for the choice. They boast a surprising collection of pasteries, savory and sweet, including some made with Spelt(for those with Gluten difficulties)- and Voodoo Donuts. Which is awsome, since thats a 5min trip for the Voodoo, instead of scleping myself into downtown Portland in search of donuts. Good coffee, tastey snacks, but most of all I was impressed by the incedible genuine politeness of the staff. Its been a while since the Barista scuttled out from behind the counter to open the door for me upon exit- which considering I had my hands full of steaming drinks, and was considering acrobatics to get through the door, was welcome.
(4)shannon t.
Don't come here to often but I love this place coffee is great and I just had a really delicious bagel!
(5)Sarah L.
I work in Beaverton, the suburban homestead of Starbucks, chain restaurants and strip malls. I've wasted a lot of money on burnt tasting coffee and couldn't take it any more. In my desperate search for the perfect Americano, I turned the opposite way from work just to stop in Poppa's Haven Coffee House. I am VERY glad I did and I keep going back. Perfect coffee every time. Super friendly staff that aren't friendly in that overly familiar creepy way that some people in the service industry can be. All in all, is keeping me caffeinated five days a week!
(5)Nicole S.
We go to Poppa's whenever we can! Love that it is in walking distance. Never disappointed with service or coffee, simply the best!
(5)tkincalifornia k.
Sleepy Monk coffee is fabulous, i enjoy stumptown but there is an extra smoothness from sleepy monk that i just love. Cute shop, they get to know you quickly, and i can even wander in pre opening to get some drip as they set up. Great local business, give them a try.
(5)Joe M.
Simply excellent coffee
(5)Meaghan C.
The service is great- friendly without being cloyingly so. I can safely say that their chai is the best I've ever had.
(5)Rosalea P.
It's neat to have a coffee house on the westside where it seems the abundance of Portland Coffee Houses abruptly ends. They serve coffee from Cannon Beach -- so good! They are a bit on the slower side so if you're in a rush in the morning - it may not be the best choice, and unfortunately, they don't have Sunday hours, but it's definitely a place to keep your eye on - and it's always good to support a small, family owned business. Love it!
(5)Carl P.
This place reminds me fo a certain other chain of coffee shops out in Hillsboro. I can't put my finger on it. Oh great, now I am going to be up all night thinking of their name. What is the name of the disorder when you can't sleep?
(3)Aarti K.
Poppa's Haven, run by Jerry & Jane, is my FIND of the decade. It's a warm and friendly little place, where the owners take the time to get to know you and your tastes in coffee. They also carry Voodoo Doughnuts, which is awesome. Their coffee is the all-organic Sleepy Monk Coffee, out of Cannon Beach....local AND Organic!! Rich, smooth and fabulous coffee, good selection of sweet and savory pastries... it's my choice du jour for a coffee date with gal pals.
(5)Tony L.
A cozy Mom and Pop coffee house, literally. Not being a super coffee expert I can't be the best judge but is certainly the best coffee I have had on the west side. The drip coffee is full bodied, not watered down, and was selected specifically by the owners after a searching everywhere for the right match for them without having to start their own Guatemalan import. The pastries are also a treat along w/ fresh bagels, and wheel chair accessibility. Situated just off the Murray Blvd. Exit on Murray Blvd. between Science Park Dr. And Cornel Rd. Gets a bit of a rush between 7am-10am but that isn't that ins't consistent, so great for those looking to avoid crowded cafe's. Lastly prices as of this writing seem fair with a house drip coffee 16 oz. Going for around $2. Oh and yes to free wifi and polite staff.
(4)Mary L.
You need to try their Myan Mocha with its special whip - it's out of this world!!!!
(5)Jessica H.
It took a minute to explain to the cashier what I wanted (cold brew latte with an extra shot), but the end product was delish!! Yummy cold brew and friendly staff. The kombucha was good too, we tried the ginger cayenne lemon grass. We'll be back :)

Love it!

This place reminds me fo a certain other chain of coffee shops out in Hillsboro. I can't put my finger on it. Oh great, now I am going to be up all night thinking of their name. What is the name of the disorder when you can't sleep?

Sleepy Monk coffee is fabulous, i enjoy stumptown but there is an extra smoothness from sleepy monk that i just love. Cute shop, they get to know you quickly, and i can even wander in pre opening to get some drip as they set up. Great local business, give them a try.

Simply excellent coffee
(5)Meaghan C.
The service is great- friendly without being cloyingly so. I can safely say that their chai is the best I've ever had.

You need to try their Myan Mocha with its special whip - it's out of this world!!!!

(5)Razvan M.
Great local place. Nice owner and staff. Free wifi. Amazing coffee - Sleepy Monk - roasted in Cannon Beach Oregon!
(4)Kerbey H.
Good coffee. Good customer service. Quiet and quaint. Outside seating too close to busy street is really only complaint.
(5)Ryoko K.
