I love this place! Great space and delicious food! Support your local deli.

Excellent food. Excellent service. I had the Cobb salad -- it was just the right size and the ingredients were all clearly fresh. We will be back.

Not a bad start for a new place, but for replacing the fabulous Muddy's the bar has to be raised. This place has a very "clean" and "sterile" feel to it, which is a huge departure from the old is-this-somebody's-living-room vibe of Muddy's. Fair enough. The sandwiches: fantastic bread, good sauces, portions a bit smaller than I was hoping for. Would like to see some sort of build-your-own option, the only menu available was the chalkboard above the counter. The scene: You place your order and sit down, but get ready cause you're about to get up and pick the order up at the counter. I know here in Portland you're supposed to do most of the work busing your table and what not, but this is one of the first places where they don't even bother to bring it to your table. You might think a pickle will join your sandwich, instead you'll get a piece of beef jerky. All the while, Coldplay and Alice in Chains blares from the sound system. As you can tell, I'm still wondering where the "Oregon" part of this deli is. Be warned, no free coffee refills, for those looking to make this a brunch destination. A nice effort but can't say there's enough here for me to be excited to return, especially considering the area is already dense with artisanal sandwich shops. What we sorely need in the local sandwich neighborhood is a place that makes sloppy east coast style sandwiches without any apologies.

Had lunch with my wife and a couple friends today. We heard great things about it and saw some positive reviews so decided to give it a try. All 4 of us had different menu items and all of us were very impressed. The food was great, it's a really cool space made out of an old Victorian house and the staff was cheerful, knowledgeable and attentive. A few tips: 1) they have a few local beers on tap as well as tall cans and do happy hour every day 2) they deliver 3) they have a bunch of outdoor seating for when the sun shines again 4) there are 4 parking spaces behind the deli you access from the alley (how urban is that?) 5) they are open for breakfast and offer amazing breakfast sandwiches made with homemade biscuits I HIGHLY recommend Oregon Deli and you should definitely try it!!!!
(5)Erika W.
The homemade biscuit breakfast sandwich is amazing! The place is really cute and the staff is super friendly. I will definitely be back to try other menu items.

The food is so good. The pastrami reuben is absolutely delicious. The real deal-maker, though, is the staff. Nicest people on Mississippi and they are excited about making sure you have a good meal and a good experience.

Had the grilled ham and cheese yesterday and again, super impressed. I couldn't have made it better at home. Savory with a hint of sweet all melted together on grain-heavy bread, it was delectable. The carrot soup was tasty and a happy hour beer to wash it down made my day.

Currently the best kept secret breakfast sandwich source on N Mississippi. The quality of the food is amazing; ingredients are seasonal and sourced thoughtfully. Earnest ownership, unassuming interior. Looking forward to summer lunches and early suppers on the patio. Not looking forward to the crowds once the word gets out.

quality and creative sandwiches. good beer and non-alcoholic selection of drinks. tasty biscuits for breakfast too! good outdoor seating if u have a pet

Fantastic addition to the area. Really well thought out sandwiches full of flavor. We had a group of four today go there for lunch. We all had different things including the Pastrami Reuben, Tuna fish sandwich...which sounds boring but it wasn't... it had nicoise olives, capers, preserved lemons, pickle onions and was big fresh flaky tuna) , Cobb salad and the special which was bison with truffle au jus. Each dish was delicious. Plus they are this really wonderful deli case where you can get terrific salad, locally made jerky ( the jalapeño beed jerky was AMAZING), fresh cheeses and so much more. They have breakfast too! Try their root beer on draft. I don't like root beer but this was really good! Cool thing is they cater and will deliver!

Stopped in and had a delicious club sandwich for lunch. The beef jerky was great too. Edit: Been back quite a few times now. Each sandwich I've tried has been so solid. As other's have mentioned the ruben and salami sandwiches are fantastic. Also try the potato salad & root beer.

My husband and I are here after a long day of hiking and absolutely loved the food and service. The deli is located in a cute Victorian house with indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the veggie and turkey sandwiches, and both were excellent. Upon ordering we mentioned that we were pretty hungry, and the gentleman who took our order brought us some additional potato salad when we got our food. We will definitely be back again!

Wow is all I have to say. Food is excellent, service is phenomenal. They remembered me by the second time I came in. You will not be disappointed with this great lunch spot.
(5)Russell W.
In lieu of a bagel, I decided to try the biscuits and WOW--I've never had more fluffy gourmet biscuits--and I'm from the South. I even inquired about it what the secret was and the baker was happy to explain. It was clear from what he said that a lot of care goes into this food. They have very interesting teas too.

Amazing smoked meats and pasta salads! I had a Carolina pulled pork sandwich a bit on the spicy and sweet side, hands down the best sandwich I've ever tasted. The flavors this place has to offer are one of a kind. Takes old school deli to a popping and unique Portland level. I enjoyed having a delicious beer outside on a sunny day enjoying my fat and mouth watering sandwich. This is a great spot for a great day. My new favorite spot in Portland!
(5)Mindy G.
This is my absolute favorite lunch place on Mississippi. I want to try other items on the menu, but I can't stop eating the smoked chicken salad sandwich every time I go there. It's so good! The last time I was there, the owner was very friendly and let me know that you can now order online so the food is ready when you get there. This is dangerous information since I live very close by. So good!
(5)Tom C.
Biscuits and jam! Good biscuits, not overly sweet. Justin, an ownet, came out to our table and we had a nice conversation. Nice people, good food.
(5)Joe A.
Hands down the best sandwiches in Portland. Their Rueben is the best I've ever had and the grilled cheese is ridiculous. I went there with 3 other people and they all agreed. I'm a sandwich guy and this is my new go to.
(5)Erika S.
We live in the neighborhood and Muddy's used to be one of our go-to places to sit outside with our dog. We were so sad when it closed! Luckily, the Oregon Deli Co. stepped in to fill their shoes, and just in time for patio season! We went in for the first time today and enjoyed a couple of sandwiches, soup and salad. The reuben was pastrami perfection, the bison stew was warming and delicious. Friendly servers were the icing on the cake. We will certainly be going back!
(5)Erin G.
This is my first visit to the Oregon Deli Co. Salumi sandwich was absolutely delicious- best sandwich I've had in years. I strongly recommend the bison stew as well. Will be back soon!
(5)N C.
I didn't find anything all that outstanding about their selection in a town with a multitude of very well crafted sandwiches. Hopefully a little more time in business will help them improve their menu. In the meantime I'll stick with Old Salt Marketplace or Brass Tacks.
(3)Laurie G.
Love this place. The food is great. I had a bison hot dog with bacon relish and a cup of squash soup. Very delicious. My husband had a reuben - just the right amount of meat to sauerkraut ratio. The on tap beer was a nice touch. We also took some of their packaged turkey sage sausage home. I made spaghetti with it last night and am looking forward to the delicious leftovers tonight. The staff is attentive and polite. Not much seating inside - 2 communal tables. More seating outside when the weather gets nice.
(5)Joe P.
Best Caesar in town. I had a Salumi with the salad, which was one of the best Italian sandwiches I have ever eaten. Perfectly portioned to draw out every flavor. Took a quart of Bison chili home for dinner. It was equally delicious. I will plan my trips to North Portland around lunch at the ODC!
(5)Michael P.
Been here twice and will be coming back again and again. The ingredients are high quality and very Portland (organic, locally sourced, etc.). They consistently change their offering with specials but I don't really care, the Salumi is bad ass! Try the bison chili as well, great flavor, and hearty. As for the location, very clean, great (helpful) staff. A slight knock on the indoor seating and signage outside. I think as they get going, this will come around.
(5)Brian M.
This place is a serious gem. Every damn item I have tried on their menu is REALLY REALLY good. The owners are fantastic people who genuinely care about making this place great. The Reuben is one of the best I have ever had. Just that simple. If you are lucky enough to catch the biscuit and gravy special on the weekend (green chile gravy with turkey sausage), then consider yourself blessed. Best. Biscuits. In. Portland. Yes, that's right. My current obsession is with what might otherwise seem like a boring generic sandwich: the cucumber, avocado, iceberg lettuce (ICEBERG!!!) on toasted white sourdough bread. The mint walnut pesto they slather on this beast takes it up to 11. I have been back numerous times for this one. Way more than the sum of its parts. Pro tip: add on lamb prosciutto. There is so much care and thought that goes into each dish here. Please support local awesome people doing amazing things in Portland. This place won't disappoint.

For those of you afraid to walk up the 16 stairs, you're missing out on some of the best Deli sandwiches in town. We had the Reuben and the Salumi which were lip smacking good! You can tell the owners are passionate about the food they serve and enjoy making their customers happy. All the ingredients are fresh, high quality and made in house. We were given samples of the jerky and pepperoni which was full of flavor and absolutely delicious! The best part of this deli's location is you have a birds eye view of Mississippi when sitting on the front patio. This is perfect for some classic people watching and enjoying your meal. Give this place a shot, promise you won't regret it! Planning to make this a regular lunch spot.
(5)Yunn En Y.
I love their sandwiches! I had the smoked chicken salad sandwich and the Reuben sandwich and they were delicious. The smoked chicken salad sandwich was on a poppy bun with egg mayo, bacon bits, lettuce, and of course smoke chicken. The people there were so nice and they really made me feel happy to be there I'm already planning for my next trip there as I'm writing this!
(5)Michael W.
Simple chicken salad sandwich with deep flavors. The smoked chicken stands out as a star but the fresh ingredients just lift it up nice and high for all to see! Come here for some yum!
(5)Mark F.
Just had a box lunch sourced from Oregon Deli Co. Never heard of them before. Wow!!! Greatest boxed lunch I've ever had. I know nothing about them but am now drawn to try them fresh not packaged. Great job on a simple thing.
(5)Jen T.
Visiting from Denver and found this little gem. Biscuits are incredible!!! Wish I had more time in town to try their lunch menu as well... everything looks amazing and you can tell they take their ingregients very seriously. We will be back when we get to PDX again!

It was a beautiful, sunny January in Portland day so I thought I would head out into the world. I was looking for a place for soup and chose the Oregon Deli Co. on Mississippi Ave. I had a bit of a hard time finding it because it's in an older house up a staircase off the street, at the end of the business district. The soup sounded good but the Salumi Sandwich sounded better, so I ordered that instead. Well, that was a great choice. The sandwich was delicious. I especially like pickled onions on a sandwich and this was included. It had some peppers on it, so there was just a touch of heat, but not overwhelming. The service was great, friendly, fast. The atmosphere was nice and open and airy, and clean. Definitely will go back and try this again!
(5)Smith A.
Best customer service I've had in a while. Great location with even better food. I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious. I'm amazed at how they can take something so simple and make it so decadent. I will definitely be back!
(5)Sylvia T.
Incredible customer service, the pulled pork and smoked chicken salad are my favorites! Very welcoming environment with a home felt vibe. Would come again 100% !!!
(5)Tnvd C.
One of the freshest sandwiches I've ever had! I got the club and substituted some sourdough bread. The ingredients are local and showcased perfectly in each special and rotating selection in the cold case. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to make sure your meal is just how you like it. Nice big tables and great outdoor seating. What more do you need for a perfect lunch?!
(5)AnaMaria B.
Deli Co. always comes through for me when I am walking up Mississippi Avenue and pondering my choices for a salad. Their soup and 1/2 salad is perfect! A lighter meal without sacrificing the gourmet features. The owner Justin is very friendly and always available to answer questions about the delicious meats and salads he so proudly serves. A great addition to the neighborhood!

I was craving a light, veggie lunch and their cucumber sandwich hit the spot. Delicious. I want to go back for another tomorrow. My wife got the reuben on a gluten-free bun. I had a bite and that tasted amazing as well. Our son gave their grilled cheese a 10 out of 10 -- one of the best he's had. The roasted veggie salad was decent. Potato salad looked good, didn't try it. Cool spot with a nice outdoor area.
(5)Tommy T.
Really fantastic spot we stumbled into for breakfast this morning. Decided to go with a biscuit sandwich with sausage and the it was tasty as hell. Biscuit is one of the best I've ever eaten hands down. Not a traditional drop biscuit, you can tell some love goes into it. Nice and crispy on the outside while maintaining a buttery flakiness that melds perfectly with the egg, cheese and meat. Met both of the owners, Justin and Chris, who are super friendly and helped guide us through some fun stuff to do while visiting Portland. Great place with great service and exceptional food. Love it.
