Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I love this place. We started making a weekly thing to go out after work on Taco Tuesday to hang out and enjoy the food.

Authentic Mexican tacos Delicious! Skip Don Pablo's and check out this little hidden gem. Four tacos and a side of rice-$6 I'll be coming back for sure.

I stopped here but there was a teenage girl with such a horrible attitude; I walked out. If you asked questions about the food she was annoyed. She did not want to be there. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Coming from southern California where good authentic Mexican food is plentiful, it's been hard to find Mexican food that matches the quality in Portland. Mi pueblo is the first place I have found that is as good as any place down in southern ca. Good authentic Mexican food that matches l.a. quality Mexican food. Cheap and delicious, al pastor is amazing here, tortas and wet burrito are my favorite. Highly recommend.

So far always good service with a smile! Carnitas are nice and crispy but juicy, getting chorizo for a change but there huarecahe is really good and burritos and tacos are yummy. Prices are reasonable. Taco Tuesday I need to hit up

This place has been on my short list of Taco places in Portland to check out. Tacos are prepared authenticity. So, if you're expecting a po que no( healthier approach to Latin cooking vibe) that, it's NOT. *Carnitas are very good, great spices, great corn tortillas and just the right amount of fat. *Carne Asada is just OK...I'm a Carne Asada snob. I like larger cuts of Asada and a char flavor. (told you I'm a snob).. *Al Pastor just as great as the Carnitas. Just the right amount of spice and heat to these bad boys. They offer you a grilled onion and jalapeño side order free. GET THAT! Put the grilled onions on your tacos. You can't go wrong with this wonderful home cooked Mexican restaurant. Home made salsas too! One of the best (authentic) places in PDX.

Been here quite a number of times. Food is consistently tasty and service is always good.

My favorite authentic taqueria hands down! The food is always great!! Service with a smile, my orders never been wrong and they are quick. I've grabbed lunch here with co-workers, I've ordered different kind of tacos and had it for meetings and it's always a hit! If your in area at by. The tacos & sopes are my #1 pick, but it's all good! Enjoy!

if you are what you eat, i am probably going to turn into a giant pile of carnitas! i just cant get enough of the carnitas at Mi Pueblo Taqueria. the tacos are a fantastic deal at $1.25 each and stuffed full of crispy, juicy, just-fatty-enough carnita meat. i meant to take a picture for my fellow yelpers but i have no self control and i ate them all. seriously the best carnitas i have had in Portland, hands down. i just want to say carnitas one more time in this paragraph: CARNITAS. yesssss. the prices are incredibly reasonable. the pueblo burrito is a favorite of bigP and he likes it wet with the mild red sauce. when you order they will offer you a side of grilled onions and jalapenos - get that! so delicious, smoky, grilled yumminess. there is a teeny little salsa/condiment bar in the teeny tiny dining area. 4 tables or so? but 4 more outside. it is a very small building! I've had the deep fried tilapia and it was good. a tad overcooked for my taste but seasoned well. the horchata is very good and refreshing. real sugar sodas for sale too. the tacos are a super value and i really like the seasoning they use on the chicken. i think Tuesdays bring $1 tacos and they are a generous size... if I'm really hungry I can stuff four of them in my belly. carne asada burrito was very good as well. even though I've been here 20+ times i haven't tried much else on the menu because, well, you know... darn carnitas! there is a drive through but it is not marked at all. when you pull into the small parking lot in front, look to the right of the building. there is a little window hidden there. do not expect "fast food" though... they cook everything to order and it's usually a one man show in the kitchen. they do a fantastic job of getting your order together as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. the service is very friendly and patient. since i do not speak Spanish sometimes i have to point and they don't make me feel dumb for doing so. but for the most part the communication is just fine and always friendly.

Real nasty fajitas. Barely speaks. Open food. Expensive. Bad area. Lucky i even paid. Salsas were not even great. Only thing good is there horchata and grilled jalapenos.

Love this place! They're tortas are absolutely to die for. Steak tacos are pretty good too. Make sure to ask for grilled onions jalapeño for side!
(5)Shelley S.
Me and my boyfriend love this place! Everything is good on the menu, good prices, good sizes. Everyone is nice and for one cook they get orders out quickly. All of the salsa they have to offer is delicious as well!

So thankful this is in the neighborhood. Food is amazing, fast, and super affordable. Closest to authentic Mexican food you can get. Love it and will keep coming back!

This place has shady business practices. I used to eat here often as I work in the area, not because the food is anything special...it's just average. However, the last two times I ate there, the arrogant lady who works during the weekdays tried to charge me exactly $2 more than the menu price. The last time, since she had already swiped my card before I noticed, I asked her for the $2 back and she gave me cash out of the till. Today though, she came up with an excuse and told me that it cost $2 more for beef or cheese enchiladas and if I wanted chicken the price would be the same as on the menu board. Keep in mind I had asked for two cheese and one beef. Also, I had ordered the enchilada plate approximately 20 times in the past and this 'extra charge' did not apply. After I told her I wanted to change my order to chicken I heard her tell the cook in Spanish something along the lines of her just getting caught and they both erupted into fits of laughter. I should have walked, but I had already paid and didn't want to cause a scene. I will however tell everyone I know about this restaurant's shady business practices (ripping people off), and since I work at several apartment complexes surrounding the restaurant, that's a lot of people. I also wonder if I was targeted because I'm of a different race than her, but can't be sure. All I know is this lady is arrogant, tried to rip me off once, and flat out ripped me off today. Beware!

Small, authentic, friendly, yummy, reasonably priced... All we missed were the cerveza or margaritas - but the horchata is refreshing and tasty. :-)

This is my favorite small, authentic Taqueria. Food is always SO flavorful, the owners/servers are friendly, the place clean--and the prices very reasonable. I love the Pueblo Burrito with a large Horchata. Yum!

Flavors are good, not great...portions are on the small side. Been here a few times while on shift and it's not my choice to ever go back. Each time it has been on the dirty side....

It's a nice, neatly-kept little restaurant in a building that has probably been a dozen drive-ins over the years. it's not a big place but the space is used really well, it's clean, restrooms spotless, atmosphere cheerful. The little $2.50-per-copy sopas are really good, little corn biscuits with refritos, beef, lettuce, tomato and sour cream with queso fresco crumbled on the top ... just the right size, very tasty. Not a bad little place.
