Coming here the second time after couple of years and this place is still as amazing. The last time I was here I had dinner at karam and was blown away. So decided to revisit this time as I was back in the city. Best lamb ever. It's cooked to perfection and simply melts in your mouth. We tried the Lamb shank and the Mansaf Ghanam and both were amazing. Highly recommended place to eat if you are in the Portland area. Come hungry and leave satisfied !

Really liked the shwarama here, so fresh and tasty! The lamb is so good, and tender. The staff are really nice and the restaurant is very pretty. Go for lunch and hang out.

We weren't sure how this would turn out going in, as the place was empty and it can be a little sketchy around this end of town, but we were very pleasantly surprised to walk out hours later, full and very satisfied, declaring this up there with some of the best Lebanese food any of us have had. Can't single a dish out as every one was amazing. Not sure you can go wrong here, based on our experience. We shared two starters and two meat dishes and it filled up three of us easily, forcing the last few bites despite struggling top pants buttons because we couldn't let a morsel of food this good to go to waste!

After being sick of eating bar food and burgers in Portland, we needed a change lol. One of the people in our group found this restaurant on yelp so we decided to give it a try. I'll just say this, the food was amazing! I ordered the lamb couscous with added vegetables which was delicious. The lamb was moist and tender, vegetables had lots of flavor, and the couscous was delicious. It's been forever since i've had couscous and that hit the spot! You only need to pay a $1 more for the vegetables, I'd say it's worth it. Some of the other things ordered were lamb shank, mixed plate of kebabs, babaganoush, and hummus. The hummus was creamy, but personally i enjoyed the babaganoush more since it was more flavorful. The pita bread that they bring out is nice and fluffy, fresh out of the oven. The kebabs were good and had lots of flavor, along with the lamb shank being very tender. All of our food was good! Along with desert, baklava and a pancake desert with cream filling and pistachio glaze was ordered (sorry forgot the name). The baklava was good, but the pancake was amazing. You can eat the pancake as a meal itself, it's huge lol!! It's really good, between the cream and spongy pancake with the glaze. I would recommend getting this, since you can't find this at most restaurants. The decor of the restaurant is unique and cozy. Service was good, until one point when there was a miscommunication with the waitress. But overall it ended on a good note. Great place to eat, will come again if back in Portland.

The best lamb I have ever had! This is fantastic Lebanese cuisine! I have eaten Lebanese food around the world, and this restaurant is at the top of the list in food taste. We had the chicken, and lamb with delicious rice, hummus, and tabbouleh. It was so fresh and flavorful. The labneh and babbaganoush were perfect. I highly recommend the food here. We will be ordering from here again this week. Can't wait to order again. We got take out.

I get here a few times a year and really look forward to it. Always a great meal with food healthy, fresh and full of flavor. I've been here many times without complaint but last night was an exception. The falafel and bread was over cooked. Falafel was very crispy and bread was cooked to a hardness on the bottom that had the consistency of a tortilla chip. The bread wasn't bad as it was easy to scoop but falafel is something I look forward to. 9 out of 10 times I would give this 5 stars.

Just around from my hotel, decided to check this place out to grab a quick bite to eat. Portions were large. I tried the meat mezza ($14). I thought the more appetizer type dishes were the best part such as the hummus but the meat dishes (shwarma and kofta) lacked some flavor. The pita that came with it was excellent and nice and soft! The lentil soup was also flavorful and i'd have another cup if I went back. Server seemed new or lacked some experience (he forgot to bring my drink and also had some confusion on how many soups were ordered) but the other girl server was better.

Wonderful Lebanese and middle eastern cuisine. You must have the Mouajanat. It's their take on a pizza! We split it 3 ways and were all stuffed! The atmosphere feels very Morracan. Service is pleasant. The pita bread is to die for!! We will be back!

We came downtown so I could go to that really, really nice new Apple store to consult on upgrading my beloved Macbook to Yosemite, so I can get the newest version of Safari (Firefox is not a panacea). Based on what I heard, it is all systems go to do the upgrade, but I haven't done that just yet. Anyway, it was around dinnertime when we left Apple; we saw Karam, and decided to check it out. The service wasn't the fastest, but still competent, and our orders were prepared and presented correctly. Our two favorite items of the evening were the lentil soup and pita bread. Oh boy, when the pita bread is hot and fresh out of the oven, it is amazingly good. The best ever, really. But eat it while it's hot, because like some food, once it begins to cool, it loses some of its savor and appeal. The lentil soup, served with a spot of chili oil, was all around goodness. Try it! For entrees, JP went with the goat casserole and I went with the lamb kebobs. Now, I'm officially on record here at Yelp as being a major fan of goat cheese. But goat meat, perhaps not so much. JP loved his goat casserole (served with carrots and potatoes in a sauce), giving it five stars, but I found its taste pungent. With my kebobs, I was introduced to the concept of sirloin lamb. Yep, it does indeed have a texture akin to sirloin beef. In other words, the lamb was very good. Joining the lamb on the kebob were grilled onion and green bell pepper. The dressing/dipping sauce that came with the kebobs was delicious, lightly sprinkled with paprika. Accompanying the kebobs was a very nice basmati rice. Yes, I'd come back, and for sure would order the lentil soup again.

I wish I could do less than one star. After sitting there for ten minutes waiting to be seated we sat at the table and did not get any service after another ten minutes. The table next to us, who was seated at the same time as we were, had their order taken and drinks served along with their appetizer when we decided to leave. On the way out the door the person who I assume was the manager or owner said thanks for coming in and have a good evening. Obviously he has no clue what is going on. I will never return and recommend to nobody.

WHAT! So good. I can honestly say I've never had anything like...the dish I can't even remember the name of. Epic. We will now take every single visitor that comes to Portland here to show off our awesome city's cuisine.

We're huge Lebanese Food fans these days. If it's Lebanese, or a vaguely Middle Eastern restaurant, and it's in the Portland area, we've used our precious date night meal slot to partake of their food. In a crowded field of very good options, Karam is among the best. Our last trip the service was a bit off, it seemed like they were understaffed or something. But that is far from the norm. Usually service is perfect. We always get the Veggie Mazawat and the Meat Mazzawat so that there are ample left overs and the chance to explore as many items on the menu as possible. The Mazzawat platters have so much food on them, that the table is literally overflowing, even when it's a larger four person table that only two of us are eating at. They also serve several items that are hard to find at other Lebanese restaurants; labne, a strained yogurt that becomes a sour cream like cheese product, veggie kibbee nayee which is not typically vegetarian and is hands down the best food on the table, and meat stuffed grape leafs. They also serve staples such as taboule, hummus, and, babba ghannouj along with lamb shawarma, and some of my favorite kafta kabobs. The cocktail menu is pretty standard, nothing special there. But their wine selection, while small, is quite good. At it's price point it's among the best wine in Portland. The only reason we don't go more often is the fact that they're down town and parking is a pain on our date night.

Good ambience .. Good food .. Service was slow that night which was a bit annoying but the food made it up ... Will go back again if I'm in the mood for some Mediterranean... Parking is a sweat during peak dinner hours.. So keep that in mind ..

Very good food, service was initially slow due to a large party but everyone was very attentive and apologetic. We had the chicken kabob salad, the veggie mezza (hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel, grape leaves, tahini sauce, pita) and my husband got a meat dish - forgetting what it is called. My 6-yr old shared with us and ordered some French fries, which were vastly different from American fries but he still liked them.

Small store front but it really stretches deep past the store front. It's pretty easy to find too, a large sign that sticks out into the street will guide you right here. Food: 1) lamb shank: served in a rectangular bowl with one single piece of the lamb shank semi-submerged in soup, is the best way I can describe the dish. Perhaps it is the large dish to lamp shank ratio that makes the presentation of the lamb shank less impressive. The lamb meat was very tender and eager to fall right off the bone with you touched it with your fork. Very flavorful when combined with the soup. I liked the taste of the dish but the presentation would be improved. We ordered this with a side of couscous, which was delicious and very fluffy. 2) Meat Mezza: I liked this dish because it offered a wide variety of the various dishes like a little sample platter. It had two different types of meat, grape leaves, hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, and Tabbouleh (or tabouli, however you spell it). This dish ended up being served on 5 different plates which made it less appealing. I'm not sure if this was supposed to serve as more of an appetizer for the whole table to share or as an entree. I'm pretty sure it was on the entree section of the menu, which lead me to believe that it would be served on one big plate so it would be easier for me to eat and take up less room on the table. I really liked the baba ganoush! The hummus, the tabouli salad and the meats were bad either. I just wasn't impressed with the grape leaves or the falafel. I felt like the grape leaves weren't full stuffed and felt very empty. The falafels were a little too crispy and crunchy for my taste. hard to even break down with my knife so I could eat it in small chunks. Ambiance: I would say the noise level was average to loud. It was a little hard to have a conversation in a larger table at this place. I liked the middle eastern decor at this place, there were a lot of decorative plates and "persian" rugs? hanging on the wall. Very neat. My friend was celebrating his birthday here and they really put up quite the production here for you. First they blast this really interesting "happy birthday song" on the overhead speakers, then they turn off all the lights and come out with a candle lite cake for the birthday person. (we brought the cake and candles, it wasn't from the restaurant). And they even make you wear a middle eastern hat and take pictures of you to post on their website. Very cute! Good place to come to celebrate your birthday and feel special! Service: The waitress was pretty friendly but I feel like she was either a little forgetful or just really backed up because we would ask for things and she would either come back a lot later and reconfirm what we asked for or leave us alone for a while before she would come back and give us what we asked for. But I'm sure she was just super busy, which is understandable on a Saturday night. Price: The meat mezza was around $16 and the lamb shank was around $18, I believe. Overall: I'm glad I tried this place but I don't think it there was anything that stood out to me that would make me want to come back. Maybe it was what I ordered, but I think our dishes were just pretty average. I think if I were to come back though, I'd want to try the stews, some of our friends ordered them and those looked pretty delicious!

I came to this restaurant because I love middle eastern food and being middle eastern, I always gravitate to these types of cuisines. I was so blown away! My meal was so good and the dessert was amazing! I can't believe I almost ate the whole katayef bil ashta. It was delicious. I wish the syrup was on the side because the taste of the home made cream was satisfying enough for me. I am craving it, which prompted me to write this review. The staff was also nice and attentive and I believe the owner/manager asked me how my meal was too. It is such a good restaurant. I hope I get to visit Portland again and get to come to this restaurant!

I'd been to their former location, which felt a bit more homey but I still love the new location. This food, in my opinion is better than Nicholas and I find the service to be more efficient/quick as well! The chicken with couscous is a solid dish - and I've tried quite a few other things there also. Last night we got the Meat Mezza which in and of itself would've been enough for two! Their fried cauliflower was very good - not overly breaded, not overly greasy, but a delightful way to start out! The frid cauliflower actually arrived to our table within 5 minutes of ordering Their Kafta kabobs are what I've come to expect and I experience FOMO if for some reason we decide to go without them. They have an extensive menu that has explanations of certain items in the back, and is better organized than Nicholas's in my opinion. They also ran a groupon recently, $17 for $30 to spend, which is a great deal! It gave us the perfect excuse to go and have another great experience at this place! If you're going to go anyways, may as well get the groupon! They really know what they're doing here, the execution on all dishes has always been solid!

Scrumptous!!!!! We had their meat mazawat between my husband & me...not only was it really good, it was loads for us! There was a hummus overload on our table though...but the shawarma, salad & pita bread were really good. Good enough to make me drive 25 mins and go there again. The ambience was great too!

Our 1st time checking this place out, called and made a reservation and came at 6pm on Sunday. The food was very well made and tasted great. The service and chaos of staff/family was strange. Considering they are only open from 2-8pm it was amazing to see how overwhelmed every one who came to tables appeared. It seemed to me they were short-staffed, as every single person working came to the table in our hour and 20 mins here. I ordered the Fattee (chicken, eggplant, garbanzo beans served on baked pita w/ homemade yogurt). It was absolutely delightful - just consumed by the lack of service and loud level of music. It took the table seated next to us over 20 mins to have their order taken and just confusing as to who to ask for a refill from. It felt like no one actually "wanted" to serve any table. May return, and hopefully if I do, they will have proper management with properly assigned and numbered tables. Food was taken to all sorts of tables... I had no idea a salad was served.... It was disorganized chaos; worth the long wait for great portions of well made and delicious food, if service is of unimportance.

I normally prefer not to dispute others reviews, but this place getting almost 5 stars is ridiculous. The wait staff were forgetful - asked multiple times for water, had to ask multiple times for a new pita, never checked in on us nor anyone else in the place...well, except the table who had every order wrong and had to complain. Wait staff change over time or have bad nights, but everything else was mediocre too. The cheap wine was overpriced. The food was average at best. The baba ghannouj was good but a smaller portion. Eggplant stew was pretty good, but the "lamb kafta" we paid extra to add reminded me of old lean overcooked hamburger chunks. The Kibee Labineh should be avoided as its 5 small weird meatball fritters floating in an ocean of bland cream sauce. I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 only because we didn't go with the predictable food perhaps we should have. Portland has plenty of places to go and get much better offerings from this region of the world. 5 star reviews here must be either people with a sentimental loyalty to the restaurant that overrides objectivity, or the place is so inconsistent you're taking a real gamble on the type of experience you will have. No reason to really hate the place per se, but I won't be going back.

o man this place was a better experience at their old location. perhaps it was a fluke when i went but, it was bad enough i don't wish to go back. the mezza plate was on the small side and it was not as good as before and, smaller. what was weird was the complete lack of coordination between all restaurant staff. the waitress and support staff seemed confused and with their lack of coordination and infrequent stops it added another 30 mins of sitting around.

The ridiculousness of yelp, creating a new entry for the VERY SAME restaurant, just because it moved a few blocks over. Well, the move hasn't affected quality. Karam is still excellent, my favorite middle eastern food in Portland. Everything I ate was excellent. The falafels on the veggie meze plate are better than any Lebanese falafel I've had around here. The veggie grape leaves are great. The eggplant stew is a good option. The mujadara is not my favorite mujadara (A far cry from Dearborn, MI), but it is good enough, and the side salad is a bit pedestrian. But you can have a real feast here, and the service is just unrivaled around here. The proprietor really did a great job in coordinating our large group, and was super solicitous. Hope to be back soon!

Extremely fresh ingredients and very well priced dishes. The hubby ordered the veggie plate and I had the shrimp dinner plate. The lentil soup was nice and warm on a cold night, full of flavor. Both of our plates came with salad included. We also had the pancake dessert, with cream and rose water, just wonderful. I would love to go back while visiting the city.

Tasty food, nicely presented, shawarma plate is a bit stingy on the meat. Feta plate stingy on the olives. For the prices, servings should be more generous. Staff is nice, they were quite understaffed for the lunch rush.

My friend and I shared the messy mezza platter. We still had food leftover! But, though I was full, I still wanted more! It was so delicious!! The staff checked on us multiple times and were very quick. I would absolutely come here again and again!!

I came here while at a medical conference in Portland. Being a foodie that I am, I yelped places that would be 1) delicious and 2) have good gluten-free options and 3) be healthy. Karam's really exceeded my expectations. It's real food, made from a real family, in an authentic "this is not a chain restaurant" kind of interior vibe. Me and my dinner companions three split three entrees or appetizers? We were plenty full, and we ate a bunch. It was so soo good. I think we got the lamb awarma (I'll be getting this again some day), some roasted eggplant (#dying), GLUTEN-FREE PITA (yes you didn't read that incorrectly), and some kind of kabobs? Oh and of course hummus (#doubledying). Personally, it was a huge deal for me to get really yummy gluten-free pita, slather it in hummus, then pick up some lamb, and put it in my mouth/belly. When you're gluten-free, you can get good food when you eat, but this was like a whole level. Everything was so delicious and you could taste the freshness of the olive oil. I felt like if the rain went away and it was sunnier outside and maybe if the door was open and I shut my eyes I would be in the Middle East, about to walk out the door to gaze on the Lebanese coast of the Mediterranean Sea. I will be coming back whenever I come back down to Portland. I have such fond memories of the experience that I refer anyone and everyone I know who's going to Portland for the weekend to come here. #foreals

From the greeter who wouldn't stop with his lame jokes through the waitress who couldn't bother to pay attention to our order nor billing, down to the food which only tasted of lime , our experience at Karam could be described in one word .... SOUR! Seriously the waitress who didn't really care to write down our order & when the food came , some of us were missing dishes. They were brought in later, but everything from the appetizers to the main dish tasted sour, no other flavors were definable, and since most of us had tasted Lebanese cuisine beforehand they definitely had someone in the kitchen heavy handed with the lime/lemon. We had the lamb shank & Goat Bil Riz and both tasted as if cooked in the Exact same broth, bland with only an overpowering sourness. the goat meat was disintegrated in the sea of broth and with the untrimmed fat was pretty gross. Chicken kabab was tolerable so was the couscous, hence the two stars. When we were leaving the waitress brings along our bill with gratuity added without bothering to ask us beforehand, she made some lame excuse saying she had charged for an extra person and what was charged wasn't gratuity, but didn't even offer to correct it & re-charge our credit cards the proper amount and let us choose our own gratuity. to top it all off, I had indigestion since I got home to the heavily acidic food, I just hope it wasn't spoiled food. And of you're trying to get parking validated , Forget it. Thanks to the poor quality service & horrible food won't be back if someone paid us.

Seating is good, interior nice, although the open flaps in the front bring secondhand smoke into the room - very mild but mildly unpleasant nonetheless. For $15, I received two skewered lamb kabobs, with one circular piece of bread, basmati rice, and a small portion of tahini sauce. Now as an individual with roots in the indian subcontinent, I prefer my rice wet, not dry. I like sauce to mix it with. Same goes for bread, plain bread isn't my thing. So there was a lot of rice and bread but not enough sauce so the meal was very simple and pretty easy to prepare compared to the ethnic stuff at most food carts in portland where people actually cook the food in a pan... It tasted good, but wasn't very satisfying. The kids that worked there were friendly though and attended to me regularly. Would I come back? Yea, and it doesn't seem like it gets too crowded.

This is a good middle eastern restaurant. It isn't Nicholas but in reality has higher quality food. Defiantly top three in Pdx which says a lot because lots of Lebanese food in Pdx relative to other markets.

Excellent food and excellent service. We came here for lunch today and ordered the Baba ganoush with the most amazing pita bread fresh and hot from the oven. The smells, seasoning, textures, everything was fantastic. I will definitely be back.

I'm middle eastern and have been eating lebanese Cuisine my whole life, this one is the closest thing I have tasted in Portland that resembled the original middle eastern food! Taboule, Lamb Fatte is the best!!! Would come back for sure and I highly recommend this place if you want to enjoy the original atmosphere of Lebanese restaurants and also enjoy good Arabic music by the great Fairuz!

Wonderul layout and decor. Great staff. Our waitress was new and was super nice and attentive. Owner came out several times to help and day hi to patrons. Super great staff. Food was excellent! I had the lamp shank and you MUST try the ashta!!!

Love this place. I am so sad that they don't make the Kibbeh Aarnabieh anymore, it was my favorite. The wait staff could be a bit faster however they make up for it with sweetness and politeness. The food is as authentic as it can be. Love the place! And did I mention that they are so welcoming to the little ones!

Just had a wonderful lunch. Restaurant is simple to get to, with a Smart Park steps away. My husband ordered the Spinach soup..which was amazing and super flavorful. We shared the Vegetable Mezza and I ordered the Eggplant stew....the depths of flavor in the soup and stew were awesome and we enjoyed everything else. Service was attentive, and we loved the atmosphere! We follow a plant based diet, so ordering here was simple. The menu highlights Vegan and gluten free items. Great location to then take a stroll to Pioneer Circle. We'll be back!

My new favorite restaurant in downtown Portland! Decor is nice, bathrooms are fancy and the food is amazing. Me and my girlfriend always order the Meat Mazawat for 21.95 which is a multi-course feast and plenty of food for the two of us. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water: taboule, hummus, grape leaves, babba ghannouj, falafel, kafta kabab, chicken shawarma, veggie kibbee nayee, labne, baleela and lamb shawarma. All for a very reasonable price. And all the pita bread you need fresh from the oven. This place is so good, I'm probably going to go there again this weekend. :)

This is our favorite Portland Lebanese restaurant! They recently moved and lost all of their past reviews which rated them at 4 1/2 stars. The food at the new location is just as fabulous as the old one. The Pitas are hot off the grill and amazing! Great spots for friends or your incredible wife of 16 years.

Loved it! Went for lunch with my daughter and we both ordered the meat mezza. Of course they nailed the hummus, and we tried the balleela (sp?) a spin on hummus with whole garbanzo beans, garlic and seasonings. It was delish but a bit strong on seasonings and lemon. The kafta was the most flavorful I've ever had, and I order it a lot. Chicken shwarma was also superb. The pita was piping hot. Everything was very fresh and full of flavor. Very friendly, accommodating and quick service. Atmosphere is very tasteful, lots of beautiful decor. This would be good for dinner for two or a group. (call ahead for group seating) Prices are comparable to what's out there. It was hot out and it was nice and cool inside. Lots of leftovers!

This little treasure is in the heart of downtown Portland, and we are so glad we tried it out on a Groupon. The food was great, and the service was even more spectacular! Super family friendly, they brought a complimentary hummus for our six month old baby boy - and he thoroughly enjoyed it! We ordered the Baba Ganoush and enjoyed it with way too many pita refills. The salads were unexpected and quite refreshing. We ordered the Chicken Kabab and Lamb Kabab, and the meat was so fabulously cooked that it was as soft as butter! Seriously incredible experience! Try it, and rave to your friends!

From the outside, this place looked like a tiny hole-in-the-wall joint that could be going out of business. But on the inside, it opened up into a high-ceiling and was a warmly appointed establishment. The decorations ranged from family photos to copper utensils and gorgeous plates. The golden paint accents on the walls were beautiful. We showed up at 8:30 without reservations and they seated us promptly. We had a few people bringing us our dishes over the course of the meal and they were all pleasant and helpful. Our meal included the veggie mezza and a wonderful baked pumpkin-based dish called Kibbeh. This was new to us and it was spectacular. Also the hummus is very fresh and creamy. I had a specialty tea drink with rose water, soda water and some type of date/raisin flavoring and it was delicious, subtle and delicate. Would recommend for any occasion, but they seemed like they could get really busy, so reservations are probably a good idea.

Yes, Karam has moved-- but the quality and service has definitely stayed put! Authentic, fresh and gluten free pita! Wild, fresh salmon, tender chicken kababs, babaghanoush with the perfect tahini-lemon ratio, grilled veggies, and a solid house salad... Abir continues to be an AMAZING waitress- both in knowledge, culture and kindness. You must visit, if just to meet her! As for the food- as fresh delicious as always! Lastly, if you happen to catch the owner, Wadie, on a night he's there, say "hello", he's kind and thankful to have you!

I had the Kafta Kebab. It was accompanied by some sort of tzatziki sauce, perhaps more of a tahini based sauce and rice. The kaftas were cooked well and the seasoning was awesome. The family got lamb shawarma which was lighter than some other places in town and came over hummus with pita on the side. By the way, free pita refills! The mum got pumpkin kibbeh which she said was really good, I personally dislike pumpkin and bulgur.

The best Lebanese food in Portland! I've tried them all, multiple times. Karam has the best food, skip the others. The Meat Mezza is a great sampler. The meat is flavorful and plentiful, the hummus is creamy and the baba ganoush is smoky and delicious. It's all fresh, not overcooked like some places in town and they don't charge for additional pita. The family that owns the place are just lovely people. Try the ful mudamas and the kibbeh - Yum!

Great stop in downtown, especially if you are near the mall. The food tastes fresh and is well prepared, and the service is prompt. You can't beat the reasonable prices. The new location is better than the last. High recommended!

My friend and I were looking for a change from the standard American fare. We found Karam on Yelp and gave it a try. I had the spinach soup and chicken kebab. He had the lentil soup and lamb kebab. Everything was fabulous. I won't hesitate to return next time I am in town.

My first experience was great. I was excited to go back again because of my first experience but my second experience was absolutely HORRIBLE! We got seated fairly quickly but the wait was ridiculous. We waited 10 mins for someone to even come and bring us water. They didn't ask what we wanted to drink or if we were ready to order. They completely ignored us when we tried to get their attention to place our order in. And this was after 30 mins of waiting!!!! Of course we walked out. Don't think we will be going back again.

We chose this place because it was close to our hotel and was kid friendly, not really expecting too much...boy, were we surprised!!! Everything was delicious. Like lick your plate clean delicious. Amazing hummus and the best baba ganoush I've ever tasted, and a simple hummus plate is not usually the first thing you'd gush about at any restaurant. We all, including the kid, devoured our food. The place looks kind of generic and wasn't fancy or very date-night-like but they were kid friendly. I would come here for the food again and again without hesitation.

Excellent food! It was packed when we were seated and expected delays for food service. But, everything served in time. Their lentil soup is a killer.... Only problem is, their wifi password is too long :)

The best ladies lunch in the heart of downtown Portland. A beautifully appointed atmosphere with attentive wait staff. We had the more than generous meat Mezza my new favorites are Veggie Kibbe Nayee and baleela! Majdoline you Are lovely and your pancake dessert it top notch! Thank you for a beautiful Syrian Lebanese cultural lesson. I look forward to your class.

LOVE. Gluten free pita!! Yum! Finally I can partake of all the goodness. Hooray! That alone makes it the best in town. However, the food is exquisitely flavored-the staff is friendly, the location great! All around, one of my favorites.

Good food, good service, clean, and hopefully hygienic. No children's menu, but they do accommodate children with a smaller portion size of something from the menu-- my daughter had one chicken skewer with generous helping of rice for $8.50-great deal for healthy and tasty food. We will be back!

Wonderful! and I consider it as one of the best Arabian restaurants here in Portland.

Very nice service and decor. But don't come for that, come for the food. It is very very tasty. And plentiful. The Veggie Mazawat is enough for two. Must try the kabob next visit. One (small) gripe is true of the majority of pdx places, the cocktails are so-so.

Delicious, authentic Syrian/Lebanese food. Beware--the fantastic mezze platter is enough food for a meal for two people. Very reasonably priced for both the quality and quantity of food.

I had just arrived into Portland for the first time and after checking into my hotel I decided to walk around to see if there was anything that looked appealing to eat. As I was walking I used my trusty Yelp app to see what was around me. I came across Karam and I have a few spots back home that serve Lebanese that I go to every week so I was excited to try it out. It was lunch time and they appeared to be quite busy so it took awhile for me to be noticed at the hostess stand. I decided to get the chicken kabobs and added hummus/pita. The service was a bit slow but I will chalk that up to being busy. I enjoyed my meal and everything tasted good. I wish there was a bit more seasoning on the chicken as that is one of the reasons I frequent Lebanese restaurants back at home because they season the meat so well. If i lived in the Portland area I would come back to Karam and recommend it to anyone else traveling to the area.

My husband and I stopped here with our two year old on the way home from Portland and had a great dining experience. We both ordered the lamb plate and I was blown away when I discovered they made gluten free pitas in house. They were fantastic and it was obvious that they were not cooked until ordered. The food and service were both wonderful and it was really easy to eat there with children. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely delicious Lebanese food, very nice owner, and great staff! I'm Lebanese and have eaten a lot of Lebanese food in my life and this is some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Without a doubt, this is my favorite restaurant in Portland! The food is extremely high quality and authentic. My mother in law is part Lebanese and cooks the best authentic middle eastern food. For years we've searched for something comparable (and we even lived in NYC for a while) and this is the first restaurant we've found that comes close. The chicken kabobs, hummus and tabbouleh are to die for and my husband loves the lamb shank. We honestly haven't had a bad meal there and everyone we recommend this place to ends up loving it.

Our family really liked this place. Good service, dream looking bathrooms (for a restaurant of this type), friendly staff and delicious food! We enjoyed every single bite of our dinner. We highly recommend this place.

Four of us had lunch today, to start we were pleasantly surprised by atmosphere. Though not an expert on Lebanese food we were all very happy with our choices and the service was great. I had the Meat Mezza which had a verity of things and all were good, could not finish I was so stuffed.

Great hummus. Great kibbe ball. Super nice staff. If you like middle eastern food, you won't be disappointed. My wife had the artichoke hearts stew, delicious.

This was a wonderful and delicious place to visit! My husband and I went here to celebrate. We ordered an appetizer, two Lebanese sodas, the Meat Mazawat course, and the baklava. It was enough for us to eat that night and for each of us to have a full meal the next night! And everything was mouth-watering, savory, and fresh. We will definitely be coming back and are very excited that they have a second location in Beaverton. Service was wonderful!

Wow. My wife wanted some Lebanese food so I yelped and found this gem! Food was authentic and delicious. We shared a meat combo plate with chicken and lamb schwarma and lamb kafta. I wish I was hungrier when I came or I would have ordered way more. We will be back!

Wow! This is one of the best middle eastern restaurants I've ever eaten in! Loved the Veggie Mezze appetizer and the fresh out of the oven pita! Excellent Hummous and Baba Ghanoush. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Portland!

Had the veggie mezza, which was delicious. Tabouleh with a good lemony tang, fresh pita bread, very good humous, and flavorful falafel that wasn't too oily or heavily fried. Homemade strawberry lemonade wasn't great but I was really there for the food. Nice, attentive servers.

My wife and I happened upon this place while we were walking around on vacation. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and prompt including the guy who seemed like the manager or owner. We split the sample platter with meat. Everything was great and it was a lot of food at a very reasonable price.

Their new location is very attractive ... the tall ceilings and light decor give an impression of much more space. Delicious meals at very reasonable prices include salad and fresh hot pita bread. A choice of many dishes to try. Portions very generous ... we both took home leftovers. Our dinner with two entrees and two drinks was under $40.

Absolutely loved the food, best hummus I've ever had! Amazing service, great waitress, Leslie really knew how to keep us happy, thank you karam for such an amazing experience. Will be sure to be back! Best luck to you and your family!

I had bought a group'on for lunch. Definitely was a great deal. My friend and I love Lebanese food so decided to give it a try. It was definitely good bang for buck. But honestly I don't think I will be going back. The portions were large enough for two people. But unfortunately we smelled cigarette smoke during our meal. The service was 'okay' at best. The waitress didn't bring what we ordered, which was just one item. Although we liked this item too, so because of time's sake just decided to let it go.

Best Chicken Shawarma and Hummus I've had in Portland! Pita bread is always fresh. The food is consistently good. Friendly staff that is family owned and operated. A great casual spot for lunch or dinner. Full bar too!

Great tasting food, ample portions, and good ambience. The location is also not too bad for parking. The service is slightly slow, but well worth the good quality. One of my new favorites.

Mom In Tennis Shoes S.
I love Middle Eastern food and this restaurant did not disappoint. As an American gringo (who happens to be half-Asian), the first thing I look for when I step into a Middle Eastern restaurant is: "Are there other Arab types here?" If there are, I give myself a thumb's up and a symbolic pat on the back because I know the food will be good. Then I test the basics. I really look closely at how ethnic restaurants handle the basics...for me this is usually hummus, lentil soup, and lamb. I have made hummus and it was granular, earthy and muddy flavored. When I tasted their hummus, it was smooth as butter and had a pleasant acidic after-taste. I wish I could be a fly on their kitchen wall so that I can see how they prepare it. The pita bread is home-made. Sometimes restaurants will try to pawn off store-bought pita onto Americans because they don't know any better. But when the Mom in Tennis Shoes steps into a restaurant and rolls up her sleeves, the owner usually shudders because he knows he can't pull a fast one on her! Next I tried the lentil soup. Keep in mind, a good lentil soup is like our chicken noodle soup...it is very classic and it must be good. The soup had green lentils as opposed to red lentils and to my taste buds, not as delicious as the other Lebanese restaurant down the street. But it was still hearty and would be a very nutritious choice if you were fighting a cold or flu. Finally the lamb...I don't think any other culture in the world makes lamb as good as the Arab types. I had the Lamb Shawarma with Hummus. My spouse had the Lamb Kabab. The first thing you notice about the lamb is the fragrance which fills your nostrils with delight...it is the soothing aromas of lemon, garlic, parsley, olive oil and other spices that give Middle Eastern food that distinctive flavor. The basmati rice was also very fragrant. Heaven in my mouth, what can I say? My daughter had their cheese pizza which was surprisingly well-made even though this is not a pizza restaurant. Our service was fine with all hands on deck. The waitress we had appeared Lebanese and perhaps a family member of the restaurant. I like to support family-owned restaurants.

We used to love this place until they moved. Not sure if its a new owner but all the food was way too sour-as if from an old lemon, not a fresh lemon sour. We ordered spinach pie, vege meza, greek salad and everything was too sour

Excellent salad, lamb kofta, and mujadra (maybe a bit too much salt in the mujadra, but still tasty). Nice atmosphere. Not uncomfortable to eat there solo. Service was friendly, though not quick. Would return if staying in the area.

(5)Yekta A.
Really liked the shwarama here, so fresh and tasty! The lamb is so good, and tender. The staff are really nice and the restaurant is very pretty. Go for lunch and hang out.
(4)Cliff B.

(4)Brooke R.
(5)Jerry A.

(3)Jill I.

(4)Tom S.
(1)Levi L.
WHAT! So good. I can honestly say I've never had anything like...the dish I can't even remember the name of. Epic. We will now take every single visitor that comes to Portland here to show off our awesome city's cuisine.

We celebrated my friends bridal shower here and it was perfect !!! The food is fresh and delicious and the staff are so accommodating and friendly ! You really get the family feeling ! We will absolutely be back and I will recommend to anyone !

(5)Rama R.
Good ambience .. Good food .. Service was slow that night which was a bit annoying but the food made it up ... Will go back again if I'm in the mood for some Mediterranean... Parking is a sweat during peak dinner hours.. So keep that in mind ..
(4)Jenna T.
(4)Amiee H.
(3)Monica B.
Stumbled upon this place while looking for a German restaurant. So glad we found it! Fresh and delicious. The goat bil riz was fabulous.
(5)Alicia C.
(5)Keith S.
Great service from everyone. The food was just like it's made at home. If you like Arabic food, more specifically Lebanese food, this place will NOT let you down.
(5)Evan S.
First time ever eating Lebanese food, it was an amazing experience I will definitely be coming back! Great service thank you guys.
(5)Jason H.
The food is amazing and the service is phenomenal as well. It is my sons (14) favorite Lebanese place.
(5)Melissa L.
(5)Proma C.
Scrumptous!!!!! We had their meat mazawat between my husband & me...not only was it really good, it was loads for us! There was a hummus overload on our table though...but the shawarma, salad & pita bread were really good. Good enough to make me drive 25 mins and go there again. The ambience was great too!
(5)Kristine Y.
(3)Jason F.
(2)Roman S.
o man this place was a better experience at their old location. perhaps it was a fluke when i went but, it was bad enough i don't wish to go back. the mezza plate was on the small side and it was not as good as before and, smaller. what was weird was the complete lack of coordination between all restaurant staff. the waitress and support staff seemed confused and with their lack of coordination and infrequent stops it added another 30 mins of sitting around.
(2)Haroun K.
(5)Carolina S.
(5)Mmmm H.
Tasty food, nicely presented, shawarma plate is a bit stingy on the meat. Feta plate stingy on the olives. For the prices, servings should be more generous. Staff is nice, they were quite understaffed for the lunch rush.
(3)Ericka C.
My friend and I shared the messy mezza platter. We still had food leftover! But, though I was full, I still wanted more! It was so delicious!! The staff checked on us multiple times and were very quick. I would absolutely come here again and again!!
(5)Meagan S.
#foreals

Excellent food. Had the Shawarma Plate with Baba Ghannouj...Yum! I definitely recommend

The food is really good! My favorite part is desert, we tried 3 and all of them were REALLY good! .

(5)Heidi S.
Excellent food and excellent service. We came here for lunch today and ordered the Baba ganoush with the most amazing pita bread fresh and hot from the oven. The smells, seasoning, textures, everything was fantastic. I will definitely be back.
(5)Reem O.
(5)Karen K.
Wonderul layout and decor. Great staff. Our waitress was new and was super nice and attentive. Owner came out several times to help and day hi to patrons. Super great staff. Food was excellent! I had the lamp shank and you MUST try the ashta!!!
(5)Rita W.

(5)Angela H.

Great food. Real Lebanese. An education! Side Salads could be a bit more creative....
(4)Andrew H.
Great service, tasty food -- and gluten free options for me, a celiac to make the experience even better. Highly recommended.
(5)Ashley L.
(5)Brighid W.
(5)Pixie J.
(5)Sunil R.
Great stop in downtown, especially if you are near the mall. The food tastes fresh and is well prepared, and the service is prompt. You can't beat the reasonable prices. The new location is better than the last. High recommended!
(5)Michael Y.
My friend and I were looking for a change from the standard American fare. We found Karam on Yelp and gave it a try. I had the spinach soup and chicken kebab. He had the lentil soup and lamb kebab. Everything was fabulous. I won't hesitate to return next time I am in town.
(5)Koy S.
(1)M L.
(5)Ibrahim C.
Excellent food! It was packed when we were seated and expected delays for food service. But, everything served in time. Their lentil soup is a killer.... Only problem is, their wifi password is too long :)
(5)Kathy C.
(5)Kirsten R.
LOVE. Gluten free pita!! Yum! Finally I can partake of all the goodness. Hooray! That alone makes it the best in town. However, the food is exquisitely flavored-the staff is friendly, the location great! All around, one of my favorites.
(5)K. S.
Good food, good service, clean, and hopefully hygienic. No children's menu, but they do accommodate children with a smaller portion size of something from the menu-- my daughter had one chicken skewer with generous helping of rice for $8.50-great deal for healthy and tasty food. We will be back!
(5)Abdulghani O.
Wonderful! and I consider it as one of the best Arabian restaurants here in Portland.
(5)Richard C.
Very nice service and decor. But don't come for that, come for the food. It is very very tasty. And plentiful. The Veggie Mazawat is enough for two. Must try the kabob next visit. One (small) gripe is true of the majority of pdx places, the cocktails are so-so.
(5)J s.

(4)Jennifer F.
(5)Deanna C.
Absolutely delicious Lebanese food, very nice owner, and great staff! I'm Lebanese and have eaten a lot of Lebanese food in my life and this is some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!
(5)Chelsea L.
(5)Willyum A.
Our family really liked this place. Good service, dream looking bathrooms (for a restaurant of this type), friendly staff and delicious food! We enjoyed every single bite of our dinner. We highly recommend this place.
(4)Jay T.
Four of us had lunch today, to start we were pleasantly surprised by atmosphere. Though not an expert on Lebanese food we were all very happy with our choices and the service was great. I had the Meat Mezza which had a verity of things and all were good, could not finish I was so stuffed.
(4)Ran M.
Great hummus. Great kibbe ball. Super nice staff. If you like middle eastern food, you won't be disappointed. My wife had the artichoke hearts stew, delicious.
(5)Maayan S.
Great authentic Mediterranean food and atmosphere. The service was great and the staff is very kind and welcoming. And the most important thing - great hummus! Highly recommended.
(5)Mansour A.
The man he work there was perfect man, he is honest . They had good previews, but they moved to this new address.
(5)Alice D.
(5)Justin B.
Wow. My wife wanted some Lebanese food so I yelped and found this gem! Food was authentic and delicious. We shared a meat combo plate with chicken and lamb schwarma and lamb kafta. I wish I was hungrier when I came or I would have ordered way more. We will be back!
(5)Jayne S.
Wow! This is one of the best middle eastern restaurants I've ever eaten in! Loved the Veggie Mezze appetizer and the fresh out of the oven pita! Excellent Hummous and Baba Ghanoush. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Portland!
(5)Kathleen P.
(5)Anthony R.
My wife and I happened upon this place while we were walking around on vacation. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and prompt including the guy who seemed like the manager or owner. We split the sample platter with meat. Everything was great and it was a lot of food at a very reasonable price.
(5)Linda R.
(5)Cassie P.
Absolutely loved the food, best hummus I've ever had! Amazing service, great waitress, Leslie really knew how to keep us happy, thank you karam for such an amazing experience. Will be sure to be back! Best luck to you and your family!
(5)Angie C.
(3)Tara C.
Best Chicken Shawarma and Hummus I've had in Portland! Pita bread is always fresh. The food is consistently good. Friendly staff that is family owned and operated. A great casual spot for lunch or dinner. Full bar too!
(5)P V.
Went here for a quick dinner with a friend. Both of us had Greek salad and a hummus appetizer. Great family run business with good food at affordable prices.
(5)Bert N.
Great tasting food, ample portions, and good ambience. The location is also not too bad for parking. The service is slightly slow, but well worth the good quality. One of my new favorites.
(5)Mom In Tennis Shoes S.
(5)Melanie T.
We've been here twice (giving them a 2nd chance to impress us with some hospitality.) But were disappointed. The food was okay. Yes, I know it's a beautiful place but it's not the whole package.
(2)Jenny F.
Delicious!!! I strongly recommend the Karam -- great dinner menu! appetizers, main dishes, drinks, desserts - all good!
(5)Basil P.
We used to love this place until they moved. Not sure if its a new owner but all the food was way too sour-as if from an old lemon, not a fresh lemon sour. We ordered spinach pie, vege meza, greek salad and everything was too sour
(2)Deb O.
Excellent salad, lamb kofta, and mujadra (maybe a bit too much salt in the mujadra, but still tasty). Nice atmosphere. Not uncomfortable to eat there solo. Service was friendly, though not quick. Would return if staying in the area.
(4)Ali N.
Had the combo meat platter here last week. Was good. If I come back to the area, I will pay another visit.
