My girlfriend and I visited this place yesterday since I love gyros and wanted to try something new. We got 2 Lamb gyros, $7 each. They were colder than I'm used to but still ok. The meat had little flavor but filled me up, they were larger than normal as well. But there was a problem afterwards. I bought $14 worth of food. I logged into my bank and I noticed I was charged $21. Either I was charged for 3 gyros or something else. I understand people make mistakes, but when it comes to customer money, it should never happen. $7 is much money but its money that was just taken for a service of product I never received. Food isn't bad, if you are craving its a good place, just double check what you pay for.

We'll get to the food in a minute. The service though! Gyro House has locations in Aloha, Sherwood, and this one on 82nd. They pride themselves on great service at each restaurant and they've always delivered it. I visited with my family last night, and we were treated like guests the entire time. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and always very helpful. Need an extra side of tzatziki? It's there. The food is really great, especially when you consider the amount they give you. Gyros are $5.99 and take up most of the plate. I honestly have to use a fork and eat down half the filling before I can pick the thing up and finish the rest by hand. It's ridiculous. The children's menu portion is actually larger than what you'd expect from another gyro restaurant. Their special spicy garlic sauce is really different and kind of a fun departure from normal Mediterranean/Middle Eastern fare. I'd suggest getting even just a side if you're not feeling adventurous. The fries are great too.
(5)Von T.
I love the friendly service and the delicious gyros. They are consistant in both. The spicy sauce is a perfect compliment. Everything is so fresh and perfectly prepared. Gotta try it of you haven't. Your taste buds will be ecstatic!
(5)Ixchel H.
My boyfriend and me visited this place for the first time and we love it, my boyfriend ordered another Gyro to eat it at home, it's not expensive and is delicious!
(5)Sarah F.
Love it! Huge portions of delicious lamb in their gyros. Falafel is moist and delicious.
(5)Michelle S.
Yes, I will return. Again and again. I have been to SE 82nd twice. So far. Service is excellent. Positive, friendly, and helpful staff. Portions on Platters and sandwiches are HUGE! Orders come out swiftly and fresh. Limited eat in area. Take-out appears to be the focus. Sandwiches do not come with fries. Their fries are thick, circular, wrinkle cut potatoes. As a totally personal preference I like long, traditional crinkle cut fries better. Which, I repeat, is no reflection on the restaurant. The meat is tasty with, lots of feta, salad , onions, and sauce. Extras of anything are available. I am not a fan of their tzatziki or garlic sauce. Only because, I would like stronger garlic in both. Again, a personal preference. I observed plenty of customers loving them, and ordering extra.

By far the best gyro I've ever had: we've had the chicken and the lamb and both were stellar. Awesome dolmas and their plates are also excellent. Today I took my friends for their maiden voyage, both of whom love Greek food. They both said the gyro was the best they'd ever had and promised to be back. If I were forced to say one negative thing, it would simply be that it's a bit cold inside but hey, that's what jackets are for. I would unequivocally recommend this to anyone seeking an outstanding meal for a great value.
(5)Ron S.
Just tried the gyro but and dolmas and I like. It's a stop and go place not a restaurant to sit and dine in at but if you're going for taste and good price then I recommend it. You get a lot for the gyro and it satisfies my craving
(5)Stacey B.
This was seriously the biggest, meatiest gyro I've ever had. My fav place used to be Foti's and they had some kickass gyros, but this place is almost better. For $7 you get lamb/beef gyro with feta, and it's so big it was almost hard to hold and bite into it. Don't let the size fool you though. The quality was still very good. The service was fast and friendly. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because the atmosphere is not all that great for dining in as it has a fast food feel to it. The food more than made up for it though. If you don't like garlic, definitely avoid the chicken gyro. It's tasty as hell, but you'll have serious dragon breath afterwards! :D
(4)Kathryn K.
The Greek salad is a must try. I have had something different every time I have gone in. I have not been disappointed with any of the choices. I will keep heading back to keep trying new items.
(4)Megan G.
BEST gyro I have had in Portland. I got the lamb and it was delicious and HUGE; I had at least two more segments left when I got a to-go box. Their lamb and hummus plate is good as well. Don't skip out on the spinach pie (just get one on the side- that is if you like spinach) it's too good to pass up. I finished with their honey balls that were so perfectly sweetened that I left completely satisfied. Really, really nice staff as well!
(5)April T.
The food was delicious!! I went for the chicken Greek salad and chicken was seasoned deliciously. My husband loved the lamb and hummus plate, he said it was the best hummus he'd ever had.
(5)Alan P.
I am a huge gyro fan I seek them out as often as possible. Today was the first time that I have had anything here. I got a lamb gyro and the baba ganouj. The gyro had more meat than any gyro that I have ever had (I love that). I would have liked a little more sauce but the gyro was still great. I had never tried baba ganouj before so I didn't know what to expect and I have to admit I'm not a fan. I'm not saying that theirs is not good I just don't care for it. My wife got the hummus with gyros meat, I did like that. I will be going back.
(4)Nathan Z.
I visited the store a week after they opened their door. I was disapponinted that they still have not organized the order and cooking process. I was thr third person in line and it took 15 minutes to get my gyro. The service is alright, it is a fast food place anyways. The taste was pretty good, lots of meat and fresh veggie. It is a little Too salty. I would give it four stars but the wait is too long.
(3)Zach R.
Absolutely huge gyro. I chose the lamb & it was huge & delicious. Good quality & plenty of lamb. A couple minor complaints...they charge extra for feta on your gyro, which is a new one to me & they wanted $3.50 for 1 piece of baklava. Give me a break on the baklava. Other than that the gyro was very good & plenty filling. Just don't charge for standard toppings & don't charge such a ridiculous amount for 1 small piece of baklava.
(4)Jeremiah F.
Get outta town! This place is super legit. Got the lamb gyro.. i literally had to eat half of the fillings and meat before i could even pick it up and put some work in on it. Had an order or hummus with pita. It was creamy and perfect. I havent had hummus that was so creamy. Also, the pitas were fresh, warm, and soft.
(5)Josh L.
Meh. The veg masa plate was very good. The grilled chicken was alright. No grilled lamb :( we both felt funny after eating here. The plates were a tad pricey for what they were. No grilled lamb :( meh.
(3)Scott N.
If you do not get full when eating a portion of this place's food, something isn't right because the portions are enormous! Great value to be had here and wonderful textures and flavors.
(5)Scott S.
Friendly staff. Good flavors. Food quality could be better (but not for the price). Huge portions. Will go again if out on 82nd and hungry for lunch.
(4)Josh S.
Just like their West side location, this place has the best gyros around. So glad to see them on the eastside, so now everybody in Portland can know what a good gyro tastes like. The portions are huge and the flavor is out of this world good. As of this post, this location has been open for 6 days, and it appears people in the area are already getting to know how awesome this place is. The wife and I came here on a Saturday afternoon, and they were busy the entire time we were there. I can't imagine how busy they are going to be at a lunch time during the week. If you just want to get a quick bite to eat, and are in the mood for a gyro, you can't find a better place to eat. So , if you're on the Eastside stop by this place, you'll love it. If you happen to see Asem ( pronounced Awesome) , the really tall owner, tell him Josh sent you.
(5)Levi L.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how good this place is. I had a little taste of everything - gyro, chicken gyro, hummus and pita, lentil soup. Every one of them was the best that I've had in the Portland metro area. The closest that I've ever tasted for the hummus is Selmas in Gresham - these guys might be a notch below them in the hummus category - but their gyros are the best I've had in Portland.
(5)Sherri P.
The best Gyro I have ever had! Piled high with lamb! Will go back and try other menu items!
(5)Erik L.
Good gyros with flavorful lamb. Interesting round french fries with feta and garlic sauce. Fast service. I'll take it. I'd still say Aybla Grill has the best gyros around, but these are damn tasty!
(4)John S.
Had gyros from all over town and this ranks as the best. Extra $.50 for the garlic sauce and feta are totally worth it. Establishment was clean and staff was friendly. Will definitely be back.
(5)Brandon J.
Awesome food Awesome customer service What more could you ask for The gyros are huge! Definitely worth the trip and price
(5)Justin C.
This place makes a great gyro. Both the lamb and chicken options are bursting out of the pita with ridiculous portions of meat, veggies and tzatziki (I recommend going all out with the spicy garlic sauce and feta for a little extra). The veggie mezza plate is another nice route to take with all the classics...falafel, dolma, hummus, baba ganouj and tabouli. This place would undoubtedly get five stars if they were better with phone orders but unfortunately they fail miserably in that respect. I'm constantly on the run during the day and each of the four times I've made a simple phone order for a lamb gyro the reply was "ten minutes." Twice it was more than half an hour and the other times were not much better. I finally complained the last time and they did make it right with some freebies but I will no longer be making phone orders when I am in a hurry. Not sure why, but it is way quicker just to order it there and wait. Despite a few bad experiences, there is no question I will be returning for more delicious gyros.
(4)Ikeland M.
My family and I just wrapped up eating dinner from here and we all are very happy with how good it was. My three kids, 2, 4 & 8 all tore it up like it was there last meal. Great food at a good price and location doesn't hurt one bit. We grabbed a menu and will definitely be going there many times in the future...
(4)Y M.
Excellent gyros. Loaded with lamb beef. Excellent fresh pita. Fresh veggies. Tasty tzazike sauce. The guys working are super cool.
(5)Steve S.
This was my first visit and I've never been to any of their other locations. I was craving falafel and very happy to hear that they make it from scratch in house. My order came out quickly and the falafel was tasty.. crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside, it came with a little side of tahini.. Picked up a piece of baklava to go... delicious. I will definitely be back again
(3)andy v.
No frills, extremely friendly, good prices. The spicy garlic sauce is excellent. I will be back many times.
(4)Bertram M.
Where I would go to get my gyro fix was downtown in one of the food carts. Now I don't have to go too far to enjoy that same deliciousness. Prices are about the same with a typical gyro, the food is excellent. Been here three times so far, and I'll be coming back for more. If you're in the area, skip all the other food in the area and hit this spot up. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Martina T.
Best lamb Gyros I've ever had! I've been here twice, and if I had more money I'd eat here for every damn meal! The portions are giant and awesome and packed with flavor. The fries look like pickle slices which I haven't seen before and are very lightly seasoned and delicious. I ask them stupid questions and they answer with a friendly smile and explain their cooking process and culture to me, (awesome!) The people here are really really friendly, the place is super clean and nicely decorated and over all love this place. I will be a customer for as long as they are open there. They're just going to take all my money lol.
(5)Bradley J.
Would give this place five stars if they cut the price a bit and took half of the meat out of the gyro. It was absurd how much meat was in there. Very difficult to eat, and most bites were just pure schwarma.
(3)Chasey L.
Stopped in for the first time today. My comment is, "Gyros and sexual harassment, not a good combination." Respectful customer service is a big part of the dining experience. I ate my gyros because I was really hungry and didn't have the money to buy something else, but the experience left a bad taste in my soul. Bummer. The neighborhood is lacking in decent take out.
(2)Mary Ann M.
I'm so excited to have a new tasty place in my neighborhood! We really don't have many great restaurants around here so this is a great find. The lamb gyros were delicious and a ton of food for a good price. We went with the feta and spicy sauce recommendations and were pleased. The lamb was super tender and well spiced. This is my new go-to place!
(5)Brian R.
Great food and staff! My wife had a dolma gyro and I had a standard lamb gyro with their signature fries. The garlic and feta on both the gyro and fries is awesome.
(5)Tracy R.
By and far the best Gyro place I have been to. Prices are good...I'd say 8 bucks and you are real safe to enjoy a full meal here including a drink. Friendly and efficient staff, clean well equipped restaurant and hands down the best Gyros in my opinion. This place will definitely be a regular for me and my family.
(5)Doug M.
In my humble opinion, this place makes the best Gyro's in town. HUGE portions...the best-seasoned lamb and chicken ever. And don't pass by the garlic sauce. This has become a favorite!
(5)Pita B.
Today I went in for the first time and had the worst experience. Will never come again. So I ordered the falafel and hummus, I told to the guy at the register "I'll take the falafel wrap" He said "so you want the wrap with vegetables and hummus right" I said "yeah" Than I saw that he charged me extra 2 dollars. I wouldn't mind paying more for the food but the way he tricked ppl without letting ppl know that it's extra -already looked shady. After this an old client came back mad that she didn't get something she paid for from the same guy. Now for the food. Worst falafel I ever ate (and I eat in a lot of mediterranean restaurants) Taste bad not crispy and loaded with oil. Wrapped with a small tiny flat pita that doesn't close all the way. Anyways Shady and taste bad. I don't recommend.
(1)Jess E.
A rare gem amidst all the nastiness on SE 82nd. Good food, good service, good prices, HUGE gyros. My usual order: chicken gyro (with spicy garlic sauce, duh) and tabbouleh salad. I've not once been disappointed by the food or the service here.
(5)Chris C.
It's quite rare that expectation actually matches the reality. In this case it actually does. I've eaten at Wolf & Bears and have also been a regular to both the NE and SE locations on Nicholas'. I have to admit that the falafel sandwich beats both handily. Yes, I would love a bottle of the green spicy sauce offered at W&B to add a hint of kick to the sandwich, but that's my only criticism. The falafel itself is soft and flavorful. Besides that.....the fellas behind the counter were all very friendly which is a pleasant surprise anywhere nowadays. Really nice to finally get a legit eatery on 82nd!!!
(4)Ricardo M.
The food is great!!!! I had the lamb and beef gyro when it came out it was bigger then my head my wife had the chicken gyro same size she could not finish it. Both were 6.50 each well worth the price!!! Indeed the owners should make a half gyro for 3.50 and it would still be a good buy. The service was great very friendly willing to help and give a great explanation on the food is ask for a sample of meat if your not share what it taste like they will be more then happy to help!!! This is going to be the next big thing in the area.
(5)Eric G.
Yummy Chicken and Lamb Gyros. Friendly staff. Huge portions. Very spicy and loaded with Garlic which is what I like.
(5)Savannah Veronica J.
My husband and I got Gyro's from here today and they were fantastic! Enough for two people but Im not complaining. Additionally we got pita and hummus, which was good. The hummus tastes like they put dairy in it (Im not saying they do) but it has a milky after taste which is odd. It still tastes good though, just be forewarned. Im looking forward to trying new things there. My husband picked up the order and he said the service was super friendly and helpful so thats awesome as well-
(5)Sean B.
One of the top 10 things I've ever eaten.....yeah it was that good!
(5)Andy M.
i like them enough to come back again. fatusch and baba ganug are good. i ll write more later. the guy at the counter is politely forward.
(4)Paul H.
This is my new favorite place for gyros. They are fresh (both the pita and veggies) and the meat is abundant. I would recommend their 'spicy' sauce as an interesting change from the classic Tzatziki sauce, and feta is great too (although it's listed as an option for half a buck more). Tried and loved their baba ganouj. It's not over processed like so many others in the metro area, and it has that smoky flavor I love. Between the huge portions and great prices, I cannot stop telling people to go check these guys out...
(5)Beth T.
I've never been a huge fan of Gyros but I gave them a shot. I'm happy I did. They had great flavor and good portions. Yummy
(5)Chris S.
I wish I had taken a picture of the massive Gyro I was given. This was my first experience with Gyro House, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The menu is large but not confusing, samples are encouraged while you wait and the service is fast (if not slightly pushy). I ordered the Lamb Gyro, which was piled high with lamb! and an order of the Dolmas. They have a zesty garlic sauce that is amazing and I suggest you try it on your Gyro. The only complaints I have are with the fact that Feta is .50 cents extra and you get a VERY light dusting of tiny tiny bits of Feta, it's only 50 cents, but I expect a little more if I pay a little more. Also the Dolmas were SO VERY tart, I could only get through two before relenting to the face contorting tartness. I'm no gourmet chef but I feel like less Lemon and smaller portions would do this dish justice. Other than that, I'm happy with Gyro House and I will return... Probably today!
(3)Stephanie F.
I am thrilled that our neighborhood has a great place to get gyros! The lamb gyros are amazing...huge and ingredients are well balanced. Get the feta. Soooooo delicious and a good value! Extensive menu...something for everyone.
(5)Susanna W.
My husband and I waited patiently for this place to open, and we are thrilled now that they are up and running! Portions are large, food is fresh and delicious, and employees are friendly. I am bummed that I can't have their homemade pita (gluten), but I love the gyro platter with rice. Greek fries are amazing with creamy mild feta and spicy garlic sauce. Another reviewer mentioned sexual harassment. That's a big accusation. While I certainly do not know her experience, nor do I wish to belittle it, I do know that mine has been pleasant, and I've been there many times. I had one employee flirt a bit once, but it was nothing but friendly and fun. I never felt uncomfortable. Once they lost my ticket, and I didn't even notice that the wait was any longer, but they bent over backwards apologizing and upgraded my Greek fries for free. Great place. Highly recommended.
(5)Rob P.
This place just opened up near me and it's great. Real tasty and large size gyros. For $6.50 it is a meal by it's self. I will have to try some other items soon.
(4)Jason S.
Don't let the location fool you. This place is great. It's going to be hard to stray from the standard lamb gyro, but I'm determined to mix it up and try some more of the menu on my upcoming visits. Friend I visited with said the lentil soup was awesome and couldn't wait to get back there again. Portions on the lamb gyro are very generous, I assume that's the case with other items as well.
(4)Everett H.
Excellent middle Eastern fast food. Better than some brick and mortar restaurants. The lamb gyro was awesome. Very generous portions. Friendly service.
(5)Jamila N.
Excellent value, which is rare for Portland. Lamb gyro has layers and layers of meat, they don't skimp. Only 50 cents extra for feta. Staff was very personable and fun to be around. Highly recommended!
(5)Reza S.
Food here is worth five stars, very delicious and portions are great! Service is great too polite staff and food comes out quick. I gave the place three stars for some minor fixable things. First they don't have any type of combo meal, everything is sold individually, so though the portions are good if you want a gyro fries and a drink you're racking up a 12 dollar bill which isn't bad by any means but combos are just nice. Second there are no napkins at the tables which again isn't anything huge it's just nice. Third the last time I was there they had run out of carbonation for the fountain drinks and wouldn't have any for some time, that's simply an amateur thing to do, you should check during closing to make sure you have everything you need for the next day of business. I've been here like four or five times now and I plan to keep going I hope to change my review to five star soon here.
(3)Pam T.
Fast Service. Delicious Food. The best gyros in the city!!!
(5)Erin C.
Always fantastic, the fresh desserts are a lovely bonus. Plus the guys are so friendly, it's a pleasure to stop here!
(5)Benjamin C.
very nice place, love the gyros. owner is a super friendly dude who made me laugh. only critiqueis they could make the place a bit more visually pleasing. definately coming back for the food, very delicious.
(4)Nonoz R.
We came back for their Lamb Gyro Wrap. Which is awesome very fresh, veggies, meat is always cooked perfectly. If your ever hungry for some good Mediterranean food GO HERE!! You wont be disappointed. Besides the food being good they have very great and honest employees working here. For some reason my wedding ring fell off my finger but I didnt realize it till i went home. After, looking every where I decide to back track knowing in the back of my i might be wasting my time. Like if someone found it they wouldve picked it up by now. But i went back looked around the parking lot decide my last hope was to go in and ask. I did and they said they had found it. U dont even know how much i appreciate it. I am forever grateful so is my husband(lol) just saved him $$$$ hehehe. So i am reunited with my ring. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL!
(5)Melinda M.
The best gyro wraps in Portland. "With feta and spicy garlic?" they always ask. Yes! Fresh ingredients with SO much meat I take half off and save if for later. Otherwise, there's no way I could fit the gyro in my face. The people are always friendly. The service is quick. There's plenty of room inside, though I usually get a to-go order. The prices are great. I love this place. If you're constantly as disappointed as I was with Portland's food cart Mediterranean, go here. Be happy.
(5)Nate R.
Holy f!&# the lamb hummus gyro with added feta and spicy garlic ... No joke. My standards were quite low I expected some half decent food. That's not what I received. The guy taking my order forgot to let me know the feta and spicy garlic was extra ($8.50 total) that's the only thing keeping this from a 5 star rating. Amazing food.
(4)Tim F.
I've had their Lamb Gyro with feta cheese twice. And I tried the Baklava. The gyro was pretty good, but not great. I am not a big fan of the meat they use. It doesn't have that much flavor, and frankly, I am not sure what's in it. The sauce that it comes with is good. I do wish they used a more pungent feta, because theirs is a bit bland. The pita and veggies tasted great and fresh. The baklava was not good. I think it sat around there for a while. And it had an off taste. Not sure if it was preservatives. There definitely was something odd in it besides the nuts, sugar, butter and puff pastry. Cedo's beats this place easily. It's cheap, so that's a plus.
(3)Sarah B.
Waited forever for them to open and haven't stopped going since! Their lamb gyro is fantastic! It's inexpensive and filled with meat! The staff is all very friendly and quick service.
(5)Andrew H.
Most everyone has had a gyro at some point in their life. Whether it be a diner in New Jersey or a food truck in Texas or a pod here in PDX. It's the same thing in most places, your meat, veggies, sauce and flatbread, with some slight deviations along the way. You really can't get it wrong. I've had some decent ones here in town from food pods on the east and west side and in some Lebanese restaurants but the closer you are downtown, the more you seem to pay for them and it's not always the same quality. So, why go downtown when if you go a little further out to 82nd you can find what I think is the best gyro I've had so far in this town and for only $6.50, and they do not skimp. Gyro House is in the Lents neighborhood at 82nd and Holgate where I've found great pizza, Russian, dim sum and Hawaiian. It's a nice little melting pot of cultures in a small area. I was heading somewhere else but needed to eat beforehand and I figure I'd get something quick to eat. As I mentioned $6.50 gets you most of the wraps on the menu plus they have plate meals and homemade desserts. An extra fifty cents gets you some feta. You also have the option of tzatziki or spicy garlic sauce. Spicy garlic sauce it is. It took a few minutes to get and I was surprised at how big it was. It was filled with lettuce, tomatoes and red onions (I'd have liked a few pepperonicinis, but anyway) The garlic sauce had a ting to it and was really good and plenty, I mean plenty of lamb/beef through the whole wrap. That never happens. Gyro House is worth the stop when you are in these parts, you don't need to be fiending at 2 in the morning. Enjoy.
(5)Ellen K.
Great place for gyros and falafels. Gyro prices are great but I thought the vegetarian appetizer platter was a little pricey for what you get. The tabouleh and hummus were delicious and the baklava was the best I have had in Portland. If you are craving a delicious gyro, I would highly recommend this place!
(4)Nicole B.
Walk in, and you're greeted with such friendly people, you're thinking where am I? Driving on 82nd, this place is not hard to miss. I was actually intrigued by their signage. Decided to stop by, and grab lunch for 2. Ordered a couple of lamb gyros to go with their circle fries and a soda. Spent just under $20, which was pretty reasonable for 2. When I got home, I didn't realize how incredibly massive, these gyros are. Delicious and on point with flavor. Next time, we could probably just split one and leave out the fries. Worth it, if you're ever on 82nd!
(4)Lori A.
We tried this out after reading the reviews. We went on Monday and the cashier was not real friendly but maybe he was just having an off day. We ordered 3 of the Gyros which are huge with lots of meat. They needed more lettuce, tomatoes and sauce so when I asked for more they had no problem putting some more on which was nice. They Gyros meat is rather salty if your not use to it but I will be back to try the Chicken since I see good reviews on it. Besides it being cold in there it was pretty good.
(4)Sara W.
Do you like delicious gyros packed with meat and perfect flavor every time? Do you like getting giant portions you'll barely be able to finish? Are you okay with a no-nonsense dining room clad with the basics? Yaaaas, go here. It's always good.
(5)Alan S.
We had heard about this place through an online neighborhood forum. We are very familiar with Middle Eastern food not only from restaurants but home cooked as well. We ordered the baba ganoush plate with the lamb and the hummus plate with the chicken. It was a lot of food for $18 but I managed to eat the entire lamb plate. The chicken was excellent well seasoned cooked perfectly. The lamb was also very tasty in traditional, cut from a large chunk on a spit. Service was friendly and helpful. I felt the baba ganoush was just perfect a nice balance of smokiness and tanginess. My date however felt it could have been a little more smoky. The hummus was very creamy, and that was a little unusual, and honestly we both felt it was a little bland. We politely commented about the hummus so creamy and were informed that in fact the owners make this traditionally by soaking garbanzo beans for 3 days rather than what most other restaurants do which is to just purchase canned garbanzo beans and smashing or blending them up. That's the way we do it at home too. This is an excellent small little family run restaurant and we highly recommend it and look forward to returning.
(5)Dan R.
Yummy, cheap & filling. So much meat--which had good savory flavor but was a bit salty--and a wrapping (it's not a stuffed pita) that reminded me more the bread they put on the plate at Ethiopian restaurants (anera?) than pitas I've purchase over the years--puffed on the grill, soft & airy but still substantial. get a fork cause there's more greens and meat than the bread can hold. and i got my food so fast. So what if the 3 folks there were speaking Spanish, I don't worry about authenticity just flavor and value, and this place has those to a high degree.
(4)Kal C.
Just as good as the location on the west side. This location is slightly smaller. You order at the counter, get your own drink from the machine, and there are approximately 8 tables (more if you separate the small ones). Their menu is slightly smaller here, but the staples are still there (including the amazing hummus...with lamb!). So glad they came to the east side. Love it!

Back against the wall and odds With the strength of family and a cause Your Ghanouj are called outstanding You're flavorfully complex A gift of grains for vegetarians Simple in nature your grill entertains And you, have proved, to be Mediterranean And a real Gyro Closer drive on the Portland side Hungry people on the boulevard All safe and all rescued From the slowly sinking strip Shawerma warmer, Tabouli so cool Shish Kabob knew what to do And you, have proved, to be Mediterranean And a real Gyro College & Electric Youth is in the House

Yum!!! So good!!!! Their falafel was good but still similar to the falafel I've had everywhere else. The rice-amazing. The hummus was very smooth. I'm used to slightly more texture but the flavor was very good. They get extra live from me for their pita!!!!!! Wow!!!! I could eat that all day!!! Yum!!!!!!!!!! So inexpensive. I also purchased a cup of their lentil soup and it was very satisfying. A light eater could purchase that and be very satisfied with their value and flavor experience. The one star is missing only because of the atmosphere - but if that is what keeps prices low- I'll take it!!

I saw so many great Yelp reviews for Gyro House that I had to go taste for myself. Since I haven't had many gyros before, I don't have any preset "preferences" about them at all, so they are a somewhat unfamiliar thing for me. I ordered a chicken gyro and chose tzatziki sauce on it. The other option was a spicy garlic sauce. My first impression: it was HUGE! It would have been impractical to pick it up to eat it, so I grabbed a fork and knife and treated it like an open-faced sandwich. The chicken meat was sliced white meat and was seasoned very nicely with a mild spiciness. Pretty good. Overall, though, I didn't like the entire gyro being so thoroughly drenched in tzatziki sauce. . .it was just too soggy. Next time, I would request the sauce to be put on the side, so I could add it myself. . .as much or as little as I want. I was very impressed with the large portion sizes at Gyro House and I'll be back to try other things on their menu. *Historic bit of trivia: Gyro House occupies the same building that used to be a Chinese food to-go place that I went to a lot back in the 70's called Far East Kitchen.

Amazing lamb qyros! And the are very large and reasonably priced. Definitely the best Gyros I have had. I would recommend the lamb gyro with feta, but no spicy garlic sauce, that way you get the full taste of the heavenly goodness-but they do charge extra for feta

Tons of yummy meat! Best value in town to satisfy my Mediterranean cravings. I have a feeling I'll be coming here often.

Good place to get a Gyro in the SE.

Best gyro I've had on this side of town. Add the feta and spicy garlic sauce! The staff is friendly, the place is clean (including the restroom).

I honestly wanted to take a picture, however my plate looked sad within like 5 minutes as I couldnt tear myself away long enough to grab my phone to take a picture as I was shoveling the food in. DAMN GOOD GREEK FOOD! Like any place, there are always a few things they could improve on. As I am not big into desserts, I am not even going to rag on them for their baklava as I can get that elsewhere if I want. The staff are way nice and helpful and engage you so you dont feel like its fast food even if that is the impression it gives off. Its in an old sandwich shop, so they kind of kept in plain in the inside, but who cares, the food is tasty and reasonably priced. There is plenty of seating as well. We have ordered a few plates and shared and just to see what they look like. The plates, salads, and gyros are where I live. The plates are HUGE and have enough food for two depending on how hungry you are. I would order bread on the side as it doesnt come with it if you like that. The gyros...OH THE GEEEEEROS! YUMMMMM.. I was JUST talking about this place yesterday and wanting to go back like now. We have only ordered food to go and they always pack the plates so you dont feel like they skimped just because you ordered to go. The meat is fresh and plentiful. The tzatziki is good and sauces they add on top range in spicyness, but worth it either way. This place is worth the drive to the SE. Check it out if you are into great greek food.

Now this place has me hooked. I always think that gyros are such a great deal and this place validates that. I mean how else can you get so much food for only $7. The food tastes great and adds such a great option for quick eats. The meat is tasty, the tahini is light, the spicy garlic sauce brings some great heat to the table. Grab some tabouli and you are set! They also have some great plate options as well. The hummus goes great with everything. The only small let down on the food was the baklava but I can go elsewhere to satisfy the sweet tooth. I give this place lots of credit for giving some more options on 82nd. It's nothing fancy inside, but it's clean. There's a huge menu board and you order at the counter. The place isn't huge so makes for great take out. The staff is friendly and quick to remember you if you have been in a few times.

We arrived 10 minutes before they opened, and there were two other cars there. By the time they opened, there were 7 cars and we were all waiting in a polite like outside. The lady in line behind me told me she had been visiting Gyro House in Beaverton and was so glad there was one closer. She also told me I was about to have an awesome lunch. Was she right???... Yes!!! These gyros are super tasty, hella huge, and dripping with delicious sauce - all at the very reasonable price of $6.50!!! I mean, let's talk about a huge gyro. It was packed with meat and veggies, and definitely took both hands to corral it into my mouth. I opted for tzaziki sauce, but you could get yours with "spicy garlic sauce," and I think you should. The large fries is pretty darn large (enough for 3 of us to share), and they aren't regular fries : they are little fry medallions that are fried to perfection. The garlic fries on the menu looked intriguing, but I wasn't ready to commit - which is why I got a side of the spicy garlic sauce to try out. Next time, it's garlic fries for sure.

Stopped by a few times and every time I finish I'm way stuffed. I haven't learned yet that the gyro wraps are enough for 2 unless you're like me and don't mind feeling like you want a nap. The folks are great and I've yet to eat anything I didn't love. The prices are awesome - I get out of there under $10 and that's with a tip. The plates are a little more but they're certainly worth every penny. Easy location if you're in Lents or have easy access to Powell or Holgate near 82nd... unless you hate Greek food, you'll be glad you came here.

I have been a fan of gyro house for many years, out at their location on Baseline. I now live and work in Portland proper so going for their gyros was a special (and long) trip. In july I saw the sign go up whilst driving in the area and upon arrival to my destination I immediately texted my mom and sister with my sheer excitement! I finally got wind this new location was opened and went that same day, and have been twice this week! I have gotten a few other items but their lamb gyros are where it's at! There is nothing fancy abouy the ambience here as it is reminiscent of a cafeteria, but I could care less about that! A gyro with feta and spicy garlic is all you need for a meal - maybe add the fries with spicy garlic and feta if you're feeling real hungry. Pro tip: bring a Tupperware container of some sort and you can totally purchase their spicy garlic sauce to take home, which is great on chicken, pizza, veggies, anything you could want! The staff is friendly enough but nothing worth writing home about (except for the occasional jokes) but the food is truly what this place is about! 7.00 for the gyro (its 50 cents extra for feta and who wants a gyro without feta!?) And lunch has been handled! 7.00 more and thats dinner. I really enjoy taking folks here as they are usually amaze by not only the size but the incredible flavor of these gyros. Watching rookies try and handle one of these bad boys is a delight in and of itself! Do yourself a favor and get here soon!

We loved this place in Hillsboro. When we moved to the SE we rarely got to go there. Now they are less than 2 miles from our house! YEAH!!! This location is a little more in/out friendly. Plenty of tables chairs. Our first visit to the new location, we ordered the Mezza platter and the gyro plate. The saffron rice was moist and flavorful. The gyro meat is on a spit! The next time we went in there, we ordered they lamb gyro with the works! Best deal there is. My tip is still....get the garlic sauce!
(4)Chris W.
I've been waiting for this place to open for months! They took over the Quiznos that I frequented often for lunch. Brand new, clean space and friendly service. My first meal was a chicken gyro. It was quite tasty and huge. The chicken was moist and not over seasoned. The sauce had just the right amount of garlic and the pita was fresh. I'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

One of the best Gyros Ive ever eaten. One of the Largest Gyros Ive Ever eaten. Friendly Service. Food was prepared quickly. Had the Lamb Gyro and added feta Cheese with Tzatziki sauce, and a Lentil Soup. Wonderful find, solid food. Most recommended.

This place reminds me of Australia. Really good kebabs at a reasonable price. If you are looking for an authentic kebab then look no further.

OMG!!! I've been looking for a good gyro in Portland for a long time. I have now found it. Wish i could give 6 stars. The spicy garlic sauce is a must
(5)Heather D.
This is my second time here. Today I brought my family and every one had a plate. Each bite as delicious as the last. I had the vege maza plate, the kids had the hummus plate with added meat. My picky eater loved the hummus plate but wished he got lamb instead of chicken. My husband got the lamb plate. He liked it but felt like it wasn't enough food for him. Ironically the more expensive plates don't come with the bread. And tgat was a tradjedy because it was THE BEST FLAT BREAD EVER.The ingredients were very fresh, and obviously made with the utmost integrity. The young men who worked there were kind and helpful. Next time we go i think its a better deal to buy my husband 2 gyros. I'll have the lamb gyro with hummus and Their falafel is cooked to a perfect crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked inside. The hummus is so smooth and decadent. They have my highest recommendation. One thing i didn't care for the dolma (grape leaf rolls).

Pretty great place. I had a lamb gyro with spicy garlic sauce and feta with a side of rice and was stuffed! Is it the best in the city, probably not, but for being close and quick it's a great place to try out.

I am in love with the Gyro House. This restaurant has service which rivals the best restaurants i have been to, even though it is a walkup counter. When the gentleman takes you order he makes you feel like you are the only person in the room. Options and prices are explained as is the content of the dishes. Once you food arrives, I have the Gyro with tzatziki and spicy garlic sauce on the side, you will be blown away my the freshness, the preparation and the serving sizes. The meat is super juicy and super fresh. It is not dried out and hard like a lot of gyro meat tends to be from too long on the spit. This meat comes off the spit oozing juices and the test is incredible. As far as preparation the Gyros are put together very well. A healthy dose of tzatziki, fresh tomato, onion lettuce and a massive pile of that meat-fantastic. This definitely makes my list at dollar for dollar one of the best restaurants in Portland.

Sweet mother of god, that's one tasty gyro. I'm a fan of the dish, but the guys here have managed to find the perfect ratio of tons of meat (lamb at this visit--perfectly seasoned and tender), enough sauce to add flavor but not get sloppy, and fresh veggies that act as flavor rather than filler. The pita was soft and held together, which is a pleasant change from the harder, tougher texture and consistency that seems to be the norm at a lot of carts. It's worth coughing up the extra coin to add feta. Prompt, polite service and a small but clean eating area. I'll definitely be back.

I was disappointed when the Quiznos shut down at this location, however, I am not mad about Gyro House Mediterranean Grill taking its place. I drove by this place for awhile and never stopped to try it. During a shorter lunch break, I wanted to stay in the area and a lamb gyro just sounded good. I ordered a lamb gyro with feta and a side of small circle fries. The service at the counter was very friendly and my food was hand delivered to my table. This gyro is massive! I didn't know how to go about tackling it--I ate some of the meat with a fork until the sandwich was more manageable. The spicy garlic sauce is delicious with the flavors of the meat and tang of the feta. The fries were standard, I would opt not to get it next time...I didn't even finish the sandwich. It was enough for two meals and for only $7--that's a steal. Looking forward to trying their lentil soup next time.

Great tasting food, good prices and awesome customer service. Ordered the falafel plate, chicken gyro plate and lamb gyro wrap. Everything deserved 5 stars, especially the guy working the register/phone. It's a small place so I overheard some conversations, he was so friendly, witty, with a sense of humor that I appreciated. He even checked in on us to see how everything was, something I didn't expect from a restaurant set up like that. Thanks..highly recommend if you like Mediterranean

Its nice to see, smell, and taste a new business in the neighborhood that brings wonderful eats from the middle east. Must try!

This place speaks for it's self. They do not short you on the meat. Love the friendly and hilarious staff. The Lamb is very premium and if you like spicy add there special sauce. Don't forget the fries fully loaded! This is our gyro go to spot.

First time here and I was impressed for 82nd. I had a lamb gyro platter which was tasty and the portions were huge. The place is modern, clean, well lit, and even has its own parking which is a plus. I can't wait to try the gyro which looked great. I would rate this a 4-1/2 stars if I could. Portland has so many good restaurants it's hard to give 5 stars unless it completely blows my mind. Yelp should go to a 10 star system so we can rate these good places properly.

Portland is making it very difficult to give anything but five-star reviews, and Gyro House certainly isn't helping. I crave this place. CRAVE IT. I'd heard about their Beaverton location for a while, but not being one to find myself in the Beav' very often, I figured I'd stick with my Portland usuals for my Mediterranean fix. And then, like a life raft on an empty ocean, Gyro House appeared on 82nd street, all bright and shiny and red. So I figured, what the hell. It can't be totally shitty, even though it looks like a chain restaurant, right? Why not give it a try. You guys, my mind was BLOWN. Their lamb is that texture that can only be acquired by slow cooking meat on a spit: soft and tender in the middle, with crunchy, salty bits on the side. It's the best meat in Portland, and Portland has a lot of meat. *wink wink* Their pita is warm and home-baked, and is the perfect accompaniment to the aforementioned lamb. Their fries are little discs of hand-cut potato, and topped with a generous amount of feta. Their salads are full of ultra-fresh veggies and piled high. Oh, and don't even THINK about leaving without a couple extra sides of their glorious (glorious!) garlic sauce! Did I mention the portions sizes? They're huge. One shawarma is easily enough for two (if not three) meals, and it holds nicely in the refrigerator. And the service? Every time I go there I wonder if they hire only family members who have a vested interest in the company, because everyone is SO FLIPPING NICE. They offer a taste of the lamb when you walk through the door, talk encouragingly to you as you order (your own cheerleaders!), and make sure to thank you for your patronage. For kids no older than 25, they're some of the nicest gentlemen I've encountered in the service industry. Do I even need to go on? I mean, I feel like if you're not convinced yet, then you're probably never going to be. Which is fine by me, as I'm dreading the day there's a line out the door, anyway.

Lamb gyros with spicy garlic sauce is a great value and delicious, packed with meat and crunchy vegetables. Iskender plate was an overpriced disappointment - a hearty heaping of gyro scraps and tomato sauce with chopped pita garnished by four sad tomatoes. Gyros get a 5 star, 1 for the unjustifiably expensive iskender.
(3)Alex R.
Food was decent but was asked to leave half way through my meal because they closed before I could finish. First restaurant this has ever occurred to me at. Normal establishments will not allow new customers in but won't kick out others in the middle of a meal because they just closed! Do not go here terrible ethics!
(1)Vy D.
They stack on lots of meat and cheese in your gyro, very little veggies. The meat is really flavorful. If you are a meat lover then it's a good thing I guess. But, i love balance. I wish they'd put in more veggies. It's cool they have a rotating meat rack cut in front of you. but the bad thing is, during summer, people come in and out of the front door, flies come in. It looks really unsanitary. The place looks clean when there's no fly coming in from the front door in the summer. It looks really disturbing with the flies hovering in your face while waiting for food. It would be better without the flies. I know they come in from outside because I personally see the flies flying in from the outside when I open the door. There's really no avoiding that. But, they should really do something about it.
