    Nice quiet corner restaurant situated perfectly in The Pearl. Caught an early dinner before a PCS production. Had the fresh parpedelle with beef ragu. Delicious. Added pancetta with figs for a pre-dinner appetizer. I will be back.

    Wonderful service. Courteous staff from beginning to end of meal. Delicious food, paired with excellent wine selections. Such a nice way to unwind in this relaxing and intimate atmosphere. Highly recommend the Cod Cakes. They will literally melt in your mouth!!

    Literally a hidden gem. This restaurant has wonderful ambiance. The lighting is warm just light enough. There are enough fabrics to make it quiet and cozy--a perfect romantic spot for our anniversary. Each dish--we each had appetizer, salad, entree and dessert--was not only perfect and delicious, but also unlike things we see on more typical menus. We had scallops crudo (oh my!) and a fresh pea salad unlike anything I've ever been served. I'm allergic to nightshades and the chef was happy to make the dish I wanted in the way I needed it, and it was so good. We love this place.

    i feel a disconnect. somehow, this didn't turn out the way i expected. I thought it was going to be ama-zing. especially a $$$ place. it was a very mixed experience. first of all, decor.. nice, dark, "romantic" service.. good/great.. i think slightly shot staffed but no big problems in this area. food.. ranged from 3-5 stars (this confused me) calamari was good. good size. artichoke dish with mozarella was ok.. pesto pasta dish was soso.. *pappardelle dish with boar* was awesome! i would actually get this again. unique and delicious. bread was meh and apparently they charge for it?? waitress also decided to somewhat auto add 20% gratuity for a party of 2. let me attempt to summarize: i expected amazing experience for the price tag. it was ok.. couldve been better and i truly wish that all the dishes wowed. they do rotate their menu frequently so i am pondering trying it again.

    The Arctic Char and Summer Melon Salad we ordered were awesome, but the Wild Boar Ragu was my favorite. Georgio gave us great advice on the menu and the service was impeccable. Seriously good food!

    This restaurant has solid traditional Italian fare: I've never had a bad meal here. The service is very good: The waiters are attentive and very knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. The restaurant is less crowded and quieter than most others in the Pearl, even when full.

    We arrived in town late and wanted to eat well. Giorgio's! We had their wonderful Romaine salad and a wonderful apple, Gorgonzola and butter lettuce salad, very different, very fantastic. One of us had a fantastic chicken dish with a light sauce and vegetables, Great! The other had diver scallops with two delicious sauces and vegetables. Both dishes prepared to perfection. Our cocktails were perfect, the waiter friendly and skilled. Wonderful! We try to eat here once on every trip to Portland (at least),

    Do not buy a Groupon for Giorgio's! A Groupon for two buys you two appetizers and two entrees on a not-so-appealing prix fix menu which has nothing to do with the regular menu. If you wish to apply your Groupon and order off the regular menu, Giorgio's will take $3 off an appetizer and $10 off an entree. That means for a $40 coupon you can get $26 off the regular menu for a NET LOSS of $14! What a deal. Cocktails were superb, though. I'd give it another try - but not with a Groupon. I felt cheated.

    We just came back from eating a Giorgios in the Pearl and it was delicious! We had a groupon so we were very happy with our meal and the price. We had the strawberry, beet salad and english pea soup to start and then 2 of the 3 main dishes you may have with the fixed menu. The waiter was great and always around to get whatever we may need. We would go back!

    I was just in town for my birthday and went to Giorgio's for happy hour. As usual he did not disappoint. We ended up ordering off the dinner menu some appetizers that were delightful. There was a good crowd in the restaurant and Giorgio made us feel like we were the only ones there. The gnocchi was pillow light with that wonderful sauce and we also enjoyed the Ricotta with pear. My favorite was the house made chocolate gelato for dessert! When I used to live in Portland, I always had my birthday at Georgio's as he had the perfect space for my friends and I in the bar area to reserve for such a celebration. He made each year's dinner party something to remember and I always look back with fond memories. I can't wait to come back to town to return to my friends and my favorite restaurant. Thank you again Giorgio!!

    What a gem- stopped in for a drink and the server recommend a couple of appetizers, the calamari and salmon. They were really cooked to perfection, I was blown away. Usually calamari is a pass for me due to grease but this had none at all, the salmon was perfectly prepared too. The best part was meeting the owner Giorgio; what a wonderful guy and a born host. I will be back!

    I bought a Groupon for Giorgio's, then read the reviews after calling in for a reservation... I thought to myself, what did I do? From the reviews,I was anticipating, blaw, over priced food, poor service and a not-so desirable atmosphere. That said, I thought I'd give my opinion & experience. The place is rather big, with a lot of windows. creating an empty feeling even when there are 8-10 tables, but there's still a descent crowd. Music was playing while we dined, and the service was great. The food - while expensive, was super yummy & perfectly prepared!! So, yes- lacking in ambiance & a bit pricey, but the food and service were great. Our bill was $127 (without tip) for 2 of us, both having a Cesar salad, an entree & a glass of wine.

    A nice little spot in the Pearl for an Italian delight. This spot was a quiet little place on a Wednesday night for a bite with friends. Not too far from the street car we opted to leave the car at home (read no one wanted to drive in 5PM traffic). We arrived at our destination around 7PM, Giorgio himself is there to greet you at the door and is your server for the evening. The meal was delightful and they had a variety of wines to try. Also, a full bar if you desire. I had the salmon special and it was done just right with just the right amount of spices. It seemed to have been pan fried and then baked to perfection. The wine I had was a nice Merlot from Italy that paired well with the meal. There was no shortage of good food and drink choices here. A intimate dining room which has a bar that extends just of to the other side of the entrance. While this place is compact they make the most of it and it adds to it's charm. I marveled at the neat and organized kitchen. (See photo). They offer Living Social Deals from time to time. I think there is one out there now. A nice relaxing place. I would definitely check it out again.

    My dashing boyfriend got me this Groupon as a romantic gesture for my birthday a few months ago and we decided to finally use it today. I honestly don't know why a reservation needed to be made as this place was empty. Upon arriving, we were rudely seated with the owner(?) or host(?) on the phone without acknowledgement or welcoming words. The lighting made me feel like I was having dinner with light bulbs that were about to go out at any moment. Candles at the tables would've emitted a more romantic tone. The Groupon was very misleading. There is apparently a separate menu of only three appetizers and three entrées to choose from. Even with that, I didn't know what the dishes were. It would be helpful to have a description of the pasta and sauce types. Luckily the waiter was knowledgeable (reason for first star). My boyfriend with large biceps (he wants to have a funny and memorable presence in this review) and I decided on the Crab Cod with Lemon Aioli appetizer and the fettuccine entrée. The Crab Cod was actually quite delectable. Tender and breaded well with the nice tart complement of the aioli sauce (reason for second star). THAT WAS THE ONLY DELICIOUS THING TO STATE FROM THIS VISIT. When the fettuccine dish came around, my initial thought was, "I bet I could eat this in five bites." It was actually four, but that's how small of a dish it was. Having it on a large dish didn't help either. I was not thrilled about the taste of the "fettuccine" pasta. It's in quotes because in reality, it tasted like Asian egg noodles. Not even joking. That was all for the price of the $40 Groupon voucher. I felt bad for my man candy because it was a waste. The only additional item he ordered was a can of Sprite to drink alongside his meal and when it came time to pay, the total was $45. That's right, folks! That one can of Sprite cost five smackaroos! That blows my mind and not in the awesome way. I hear it's all you can eat pasta at the Olive Garden. Go there and you can still spend less than what we had today.

    First time to Giorgio's last night, riskily celebrating my wife's birthday at an unknown establishment near home. The rating should give you a sense of how it went. Briefly: Nice ambience, very low-key and dimly-lit. The room is fairly large, but only a few tables were occupied when we arrived at 18:30. The place seems comfortable in a well-worn kind of way, with visible dings and scuffs on the table surface and chairs in a shade of pale green that whispers "grandma." A silver-haired businessman sat alone nearby, carrying on a long, all-to-hear conversation with an associate on his iphone. We ordered a couple glasses on the Friulano (I love Friulano) and explored the menu. We ordered the bay scallops (special that day) and kale caesar salad to start and they were both great. (I uploaded photos, but not sure how to link them here...) After that came the foie gras terrine (wow) and a bottle of Vino Nobile di Montepulchiano (Boscarelli, 2003) which was fantastic. (Recommended by Giorgio, $68, worth every cent and more.) Next we we ordered the wild boar pappardelle, which was supposed to be a half order but came as a full divided into two portions. It was fantastic, though the large portion did sort of put us over the edge appetite-wise. Last we had duck breast, which came with a succulent side of duck confit and seasonal vegetables. It was divine. I have to say the food was really exceptional. Far better than some of these pretentious places nearby in the Pearl (like the Irving St. Kitchen) where you can easily drop a couple hundred bucks for a dinner that should by any reasonable estimation cost half that. The chef at Giorgio's has been there 11 years, Giorgio told me, and I hope he isn't leaving any time soon, because I am ready so back and sample more of his work. Cost performance overall is good (our dinner for two was $185) and the wine prices are quite reasonable. In a word: check it out!

    If it was possible to give a restaurant no stars I would! WORST ITALIAN PLACE EVER!!! First of all the place is only open for 5 hours so you have to be there quick. When I walked in there I had to wait 29 minutes before I was seated even through there was literally no one in the restaurant. Second of all those people have no idea how to prepare the simplest of Italian cuisine. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and every thing about it was terrible the cheese was stale, the noodles were undercooked, the meatballs were raw and had a weird texture, and the sauce tasted like ketchup form a packet mixed with spit. Lastly is was so obvious that place was more well known for wine and beer rather than food since the wine list was longer that menu by 3 pages (the food menu was one page and was one sided). So if you like drinking more than eating then this is the place for you.

    Divinely stumbled upon Giorgio's restaurant tonight and what a happy accident it was! Upon entry we were treated with warm hospitality. Not only was the service impeccable, but every morsel of food we ate was deliciously prepared. For those that are curious, we had the buffalo mozzarella crostini appetizer, the short rib entree, the dinner special, which was made with fluke (fish), leeks, and tossed with farm fresh beans; and for dessert, a scrumptious lemon tart with fresh blackberries. The server also brought us a complimentary sample of the salmon special appetizer to our surprise! Dining at Giorgio's was a delight and impressed me enough to write them a review (which I've only done one other time, years ago). Thank you for a wonderful, unexpected dining experience.

    I bought a Groupon when this place first started to use them and had access to the real and full menu. I remember how delicious their meal was with wonderful attention paid to very subtle flavors and very fine ingredients. So, I bought another Groupon later and when we returned, was disappointed to get a special menu just for Groupon customers. I ordered a pea soup for an appetizer and received a pea consomme, or pea flavored water. I ordered gnocchi which was hand made, but the portion was small. I think I counted 12 or 14 pieces max. Needless to say, we did not feel well fed when we left and felt jipped by the Groupon. My spouse is not interested in returning. This sparse meal was not worth $80 as stated on the Groupon!

    I have to admit that I was kind of wary about coming in with my Living Social deal after reading some of the reviews. However, from the moment we stepped through the door we had nothing but positive experiences. We were greeted immediately. The waiter had our table set with menus already placed at our seats. We ordered a bottle of Soave to share since it was a warm day so a crisp cool white sounded refreshing. He brought over a bread basket, and we weren't charged for it as some people had mentioned. We had a choice of soup or salad, and three entrees. We both chose the romaine and butter lettuce salad with Caesar dressing which was very good. We both also decided on the spaghetti with chicken and ricotta meatballs. Since I don't eat red meat it's not often I get to enjoy meatballs. I have to say they were THE BEST meatballs I have ever had. Seriously. They weren't overly dense and crumbly the way they can be sometimes. I think the ricotta lightened the texture and kept them moist and tender. I think they had fresh basil along with other herbs. Whatever they did, they were seasoned perfectly. Five stars for them for sure! The sauce was also very good. It was a classic marinara with nice slices of fresh garlic. I normally take part of my dinner home, but this time I couldn't stop eating. I was so full that I was ready to burst! I was glad I wore a stretchy dress. Our waiter couldn't have been more pleasant. There was only one other 4 top while we were there. He kept an eye on us the whole time, and checked with us after we had a chance to taste each course to make sure they were to our liking. Our water glasses were never empty. He didn't try to upsell us on anything. We wished that we had room to sample their desserts. Maybe next time. We didn't have a gratuity tacked on either, just the bill for our bottle of wine. We left a great tip of course since everything was wonderful. I agree that some type of music would add to the atmosphere, but oh well. The chicken meatballs are on their happy hour menu for $7. We will definitely be back for them. They were all Oscar and I could talk about the rest of the night!

    We did the Groupon coupon here so had a limited menu to choose from, but all the items we tried were at least very good and two (pasta bolognese and English pea soup) were outstanding. Service was good although it might have been warmer. We came away determined to return soon and sample the full menu.

    This is a tough one. I think that Giorgio's may have good food; but being I used a Groupon coupon, my review has to be based on that. Basically, Giorgio is ripping off his Groupon customers. He says it is an $80 value for $40. If you have a Groupon coupon, you have a "pre-fixed menu." It has a choice of 3 entrees & 3 starters. I ordered the salad for my starter. It had a small amount of lettuce & cherry tomatoes. Taste was fine- but my own homemade salad would be better, and I am not a chef. The main entree was a penne type pasta, with a cheese type sauce. Wasn't my favorite, but then I grew up with my mom's Italian family. The amount was about what you would expect for some of the high end restaurants, just not the quality. My daughter had the same main entree & a different starter. Her starter was good, I forget the name of it, but it was basically deep fried mozzarella balls. Off the regular menu, you could get entrees from about $15 to $25. However, for some reason you can't use your $80 Groupon credit towards regular menu items...unless you took a deep cut on your groupon. A $14 item would cost you $10, in addition to your coupon. What??? My other daughter already paid $40 for this. I would like to at least get the $40 worth of food (supposedly $80 value). In addition to our "pre-fixed" dinner, I ordered an appetizer off the regular menu, for $13. It was crostini with figs & prosciutto. It was quite good, although only 2 small pieces. I had a lemon drop drink, for $10- also very good. The waiter gave us our bill, and the total was $103, & with the $80 discount from the groupon, I owed $23. I was supposedly to tip on the $103. Now, I almost always tip 20%, but I refuse to tip on a value NOT equal to the food served. I would have done better if instead of buying the groupon, my daughter just gave us the cash for this restaurant. When I asked the waiter if dessert was included, he said, "It should be, for this price." It totally was not personal for the waiter, but if I had tipped on the $103 total- I would have left him $20. When I add that to the amount I already paid- I would have come out cheaper just not using the darn groupon. I left the waiter $13. I based it on a $63 dinner (the amount my daughter paid for the groupon & the total of my other food/drinks). I believe Giorgio is making a profit off the groupons. Totally unethical. For that reason, he will not get my repeat business. Giorgio's might have good food off the regular menu- just don't ever use a Groupon for this restaurant- he is not being honest.

    Excellent food! The menu is definitely limited, but it's okay. Food was terrific, service was great, and the limited wine selection was top notch. I'm giving four stars ONLY because of the limited menu. I'd highly recommend this place!

    Peter Shue is one of the best and most underrated chefs in Portland. I have never been disappointed by any meal I have had and he is a genius in seafood preparation. The owner is helpful and very welcoming. Great food, and small cozy atmosphere. Some of the best food in PDX

    I cannot visit Portland without dining at Giorgio's at least once while I'm there! Every time I dine there, I'm greeted by Giorgo at the door, and immediately seated. His staff is amazing. Friendly, attentive, hospitable, and incredibly knowledgeable. My visit last week was perfection. I took some of my colleagues there for dinner. I started with the melon and prosciutto salad, which was crisp, fresh and very tasty. I had the boar ragu on papparedelle, which was mouth watering. Not only was the boar tender and full of flavor, the papparedelle was fresh. Giorgio makes the pasta fresh daily. My colleagues loved their meals. The quality and care that goes into every dish is incredible, and is hard to beat. If you are exploring the Pearl, and are in need of a quiet, intimate place for dinner, Giorgio's should be at the top of your list.

    I'm writing to echo what Rob H. said a month ago -- mainly because Giorgio's is being deceptive to the point of rip-off with its Groupon "deal." It should be noted too that we've eaten numerous times at Giorgio's over the years and had some great meals there -- but this restaurant is clearly on the descent now. Tonight was the last night I'll ever eat there, as the food was average and the prices were avaricious. The Groupon "deal" is ludicrous, and I think our waiter has grown weary with not being able to tell patrons that they've been had. When he brought us the "special" Groupon menu -- which could easily be replicated for $15-20 per person at ANY middling Italian chain-restaurant (seriously, we're talking salad and spaghetti here) -- he almost seemed apologetic. My wife and I opted to order off the regular menu, paying extra as Rob H. described. When all was over, we had a below-average meal for $130 (paid $90) -- and for that $90 we could have dined happily at dozens of better restaurants throughout Portland. I half-suspect they inflated the price of my wife's halibut simply to profit further. The food was average at best, as was the service, and the place was nearly empty. My wife and I have young children, so I was determined to have a great time eating anywhere tonight -- or even eating average food. Seriously, I was set on enjoying myself: just getting out of the house together was wonderful. But feeling mislead, deceived, and ripped-off -- well, fair play to you, Giorgio's, as the Irish say. Or, even better, as George Bush II immortally put it: "Fool me once, shame on ... shame on you. Fool me... You can't get fooled again!'" Great job, Giorgio's -- you made a 15 year resident of Portland resolve never, ever to eat at your restaurant again. Pathetic.

    I recently ate at Giorgio's while on vacation at the suggestion of a friend who had eaten here several years ago. We were promptly greeted and sat, as it was quiet for a Friday night. Our server was polite, patient, personable and knowledgeable. I love Caprese salads, and I tend to order one as a starter at most Italian restaurants. Keeping in mind I frequent Boston's north end, this was hands down the best I've ever eaten (it was a menu special). My pasta entree was equally delicious. Top it off with a complimentary glass of Moscato and excellent service. I was shocked this restaurant wasn't far busier.

    The reason it gets two stars is because while the food was good, Georgio has decided that he will game the Groupon business model. Groupon is promoted as a way for restaurants to showcase themselves, offering a deep discount to people and possibly attract new customers. Giorgio has decided that it doesn't really want to offer discounts. So Girogio has decided to sell a Groupon for $40. Say it's worth $80. Then give you a $40 meal. And, it's almost worse. They actually think you are stupid. Our daughter bought us a Groupon $40. The certificate says it's for a two course (app and main) dinner. It also says that you can use if as a $40 credit. Groupon customers then are handed a Groupon menu. 4 app. selections. 4 main dish selections. Comparing them t regular menu you can see that they are modest dishes. I ask about ordering off the main menu and am told that you can do that, and get $3 off app. and $10 off main course. Which is a $26 discount on the $40 Groupon. I don't have a PhD in math, but that didn't make a lot of sense. So we ordered off the Groupon menu. It was fine for $40. Food was good. The "bread basket" consisted of one two slices - one slice each- of what appeared to be bread they bought at the local grocery. Of course we ordered drinks as well. Then we get the bill and the waiter explains how it works. He charges $80 for the dinner (Their stated value of the Groupon), then shows an $80 credit. Implying pretty firmly that the tip should be based on their stated $80 value. Yeah. No. The waiter was great, but we tip on the value of the meal. Which was $40 for two. Bottom line. Food is actually good. But Giorgio is using Groupon to make money on the Groupon meal, not to showcase his restaurant. There is no Groupon discount here. You get a $40 meal for $40, and they try to get even more from you by offering a $26 discount for a Groupon you paid $40 for. Dumb dumb business practice. They should just have a $40 cheapskate menu for everyone.

    I don't know where to start! I was a little worried about going to Giorgio's because I'd read about so many issues on Yelp with people and using their Groupon. We walked in and were graciously welcomed in and sat. Our waiter, Dustin, brought over the menu and then brought some fresh bread for our table. I immediately asked if it was the $4 bread I read about on Yelp. He assured me it was complimentary and asked if I was a Groupon user. I admitted I was and that I already knew about the 20% gratuity tacked on for Groupon users. He said that that wasn't true either. A very patient waiter. 5 star service!!! The food was amazing! My friend and I got the beat, apple, and Gorgonzola cheese salad which was very refreshing and beautiful. Reminded me of the changing colors of the leaves outside :) For the main course I got the Pappardelle Pasta, Wild Boar Ragu, Moscato, Pecorino Toscano. It was amazing!!!!! Beautifully prepared and was more then enough!!! We then ordered the freshly made cinnamon doughnuts with a coffee ice cream and the Buttermilk Panna Cotta with raspberry topping. Both were delicious! The inside of the doughnuts were so hot and yummy and the outsides were nice crisp! The Panna Cotta was so good and refreshing too. I really give this whole experience a 5 star review because the waiter was more then helpful, he knew all about the dishes, he was patient, the food the prepared not only beautifully but tasted delicious. The food came in a timely fashion and as we finished one the next came at the perfect time. I will definitely be going back again so I can try the short ribs!!! Yum!

    Upscale Italian restaurants are ubiquitous in the Pearl but Giorgio's has always seemed to be the sleeper: the unobvious spot whipping up Northern Italian cuisine with French and Northwest influences. Upon arrival, my coat was hung by the maître d' who continued to attend to us for the entire dinner with the exception of the chef, Peter Schuh, who delivered the dishes. Service on roids! Justin and I started out with a soup/salad. I ordered the chestnut soup since I've never had it before. It did not disappoint - robust, rich and earthly. Justin ordered the salad, which came perfectly mounded in a balancing act of salty roe, cream and crisp, water bursting lettuce. It was a carefully prepared, with small enough bites to get a little bit of everything all at once, besides the cheese snowflake, of course. I was thrilled to see the bread basket served with Oregon extra virgin olive oil. This is always exciting, since Oregon has recently started to produce olive oil. I suppose they could have gone with an Italian olive oil and probably cut costs, so it's great to see a restaurant splurge for the good local stuff. For our mains, I chose the Cinderella Pumpkin Black Truffle Ravioli which came with the same truffle foam that the soup had. Foam kind of grosses me out, but this was an exception. The house-made raviolis were delicate and everything about the innards was screaming fresh.     My friends and I went back there on the few days ago. The dishes are tasty as usually, but the portion of the food is small for a teenager. :( The service is excellent there. I like the environment of the restaurant; cozy and relaxing. However, the parking could be a headache.

    This is our favorite Italian restaurant in Portland. The food is expertly prepared and never a disappointment. Everything here is exceptional. Start with the kale salad or romaine with Caesar dressing. The tagliatelle with broccoli in an anchovy-tomato- truffle sauce is superb. For dessert we absolutely love the strawberries in balsamic with gelato and the Campari-pink grapefruit shaved ice. The owner is almost always present and very gracious.

    This place is horrible. There are only 3 groups of people in the whole restaurant at 7pm prime time. We use $40 groupon deal, which claimed to be $80 value. I would rather spend eat at Pastini, which probably only cost only $20. Go Piazzza Italian instead.

    Fantastic soup, salad, pasta, desserts, and wine list. Their sauces, noodles, sorbetto (which was perfect) are all as good as it gets and are made on site each day. They're open limited hours - only 5-9 PM Tue-Sat - but, when open, this is the place to go in Portland for delicious, well made, fresh Italian food...delicious!

    My friend and I took our parents to Giorgio's for Mother's Day. For me, the prices are on the high side but thankfully we had a Groupon. The advantage of Groupon was that we could splurge and order menu items we wouldn't normally consider, which is really fun! We shared the wide spectrum of entrées we ordered. My Mom got the Wagyu Beef. My friend and my Dad both got the pork tenderloin. I ordered the lamb ragu with gnocchi (I kept mispronouncing it as if it rhymed with Chachi, as in Joni Loves...). Her Dad got meatballs....you get the idea. The first few bites of the Lamb Gnocchi were heavenly. But it was sooooo rich. I had to get a to-go box. The Wagyu Beef was tender but I really couldn't see what the big deal about it was. The Pork Tenderloin was the standout of the meal--tender, flavorful, and a good portion. Don't try to download the menu off their website; it's a tad outdated. We printed out the menu before we arrived at the restaurant and had our selections picked ahead of time because most of us are notoriously slow at ordering. Unfortunately, the menu items had vastly changed, so we took even longer than usual! Dessert was good, for the most part. The Strawberry/Rhubard Meringue was the best. The custard with the orange slices had an odd metallic taste, though. Kudos to our waitress, Simone, who was running herself ragged the whole time we were there serving us and the other tables. Giorgio even checked in on us a couple of times. So if you're in the Pearl and want a pleasant dining experience, check out Giorgio's.

    We went here Saturday night on a Living Social coupon. Worst meal we have had in Portland since we moved here 3 years ago. My wife had soup. It was luke warm. We brought this up to the owner, who just blew us off. We ordered the duck, as they were out of the advertised pork shank. As we had a coupon a "special menu" appeared. After 45 minutes, our entree's appeared. It tasted like they they had poured a whole salt shaker over it. It was basically inedible. When we got the check, the owner stated that the "value" of our meal was $72. I wouldn't feed our dog this crap. Run, don't walk, from this restaurant. Absolutely horrible ,

    I had a hard time not giving this place 3 stars based on the descriptors. First off, I am a chef so I am particular. Having that said, the execution on the menu was fine. The food in itself is good. However, i felt that the offerings were limited and the ambiance was definitely lacking. The service was ver scattered and slow. In a high scale place, as this is priced, the server had to reference a sheet for the specials, in addition, the wine service was unprofessional. He served men first and reached over people from one point of the table for a large party verses pouring from everyones side. The biggest thing thing that threw me (besides having 3 tables at 7pm on a friday night) was that they had absolutely NO music. It made it so uncomfortable to speak in the restaurant and made all of the imperfections so much more noticeable. Funny, because when you walk out, all you hear is OBA's music, note from the OUTSIDE of the building. Hmmmm. At any rate, food wasn't over the top but executed well, service lacked, ambiance way lacked, price was waaayyy to high for the market rate...overall, nothing would draw me back which is why i was able to "squeeze" in a party of 6 last minute on a friday night in the pearl.

    I've been here twice, and the food IS good. So why 3 stars? Yes, the food/quality = 5 stars, what you get for the money = 2 stars. One of my biggest pet peeves is having to PAY for bread, for the prices on this menu, you would think a basket of bread (4 slices) would be included. Honestly if I'm paying $23 for a vegetarian pasta dish (5 tortellini) which was on the small side, why do I need to also pay for bread? In all fairness, the $27 pasta my partner ordered was a boar meet ragu, and it looked much more substantial than what I had - still having to pay for bread is ridiculous. Yes, I'll pay separately for a salad, an antipasti, anything - but include the bread. An upscale restaurant like this really doesn't need the extra $2 do they? The thing is, I have no trouble laying down $50-$100 a person for REALLY great food, service, ambiance, etc. So, if you're getting wine, sharing an appetizer, and two entrees - expect at least $50 a person. There was one server for the entire restaurant, and she was running ragged. For as busy as she was, she was efficient as possible. However, I didn't think she was very knowledgeable about the menu - or maybe she was just in a hurry. When we asked an ingredient on the menu she said, "oh that's probably just cheese". Hmm. The plates are presented beautifully, as you would expect given what you're paying. The food IS good The restaurant is well lit, although I'm not a fan of the black and white flooring, felt a little like a bathroom - and had a similar echo.

    Overall Excellent. Really should have 4.5 stars instead of 5 as the bread in the bread basket was not cut fresh - but that is a minor issue. The meal was excellent - the boar ragu is a must. The fresh Cod was cooked perfectly - crispy and still moist - delicious, and the drinks were great! Service was just perfect - unobtrusive with just the right amount of personal care. If you are looking for a scene with loud music, meat marklet atmosphere, and mediocre food sold cheap so you buy drinks, go to Oba. If you want excellent food served in a romantic and quaint restaurant, go to Giorgios!

    The food is good and well prepared. Move the chef to a different restaurant with more personality that doesn't feel like a big bland fish bowl. I agree with some others the prices are high compared to other good Italian restaurants with better atmospheres. We were there on a Saturday night a little on the early side since we were going to a show later and the place was basically empty. Windows all around you with no window coverings and to add to the fish bowl affect the only things hanging on the walls were giant mirrors. That is really all they had for decor. The chairs were a bland hospital green so really an unpleasant environment not at all reminiscent of Italy like one reviewer mentioned. The only saving grace was we did enjoy the food, so keep the chef, put in booths, pictures, drapes, add table cloths and dim the lights and then people might enjoy it more and feel the prices are more worth it. One more note they didn't charge us for bread but it was on the light side.

Best restaurant in the Pearl. Go for a nice after work HH or a fine dining experience. You will not be disappointed in the menu or service!

    I had the pappardelle and it was fantastic. The pasta was nice and al dente and paired with a fantastic ragout. Hubby and I shared the caesar salad. The server split it for us and it was the perfect amount. Had we each ordered one it would have been too much. For dessert we had doughnuts with the cinnamon sugar and espresso ice cream. They were served warm and delicious. The espresso ice cream was like nothing I ever tasted before. There is coffee ice cream and there was this espresso ice cream. I did not need coffee after the meal as this ice cream was so flavorful. Service was so so. There was one server and the manager who was assisting. I get that it wasn't expected to be a busy night but one more server would have been better. (Manager's fault, not the server so I don't take it out on him.) Thanks Groupon for allowing us to save a few bucks on a tasty meal.

    I came here a couple weeks ago for dinner. It was my first time meeting my to-be father in law (eek). That was stressful enough, so thank goodness dinner was amazing! There were not many tables in the restaurant, and I personally enjoyed that. It made the ambiance more intimate, and sometimes it's nice to eat somewhere more quiet. Service was efficient, friendly, and timely. I believe our server was possibly also the owner? Either way, he was very nice and also helped us with our questions and giving recommendations. To drink I started with a dirty martini and then had a glass of red wine with dinner. Both were excellent. My almost father-in-law and I shared the appetizer special, which was a clam and gnocchi dish. Delicious. I had the kale/caesar/anchovy salad as a starter, and my fiance had a different salad, which he gave me a bite and it was also very good. I was pretty full after the starters so I just had a half squid ink pasta as an entree. Now - I have WORKED at places that serve squid ink pasta, and this was the best I've had. My fiance had the snake river farms beef dish, and the father-in-law had the cod (another special that night). They both loved their meals as well. We were too stuffed for dessert, but that's okay because we were buzzed from good drinks and full of good food. We all felt we had a great experience, and I would love to return here sometime for an intimate date night.

    We went to Giorgios for our 25th anniversary after talking with him a night before, charming man, and we got charmed. The food and service is top notch. His Chef Peter has been with him for 10years and has an impressive resume that stretches a couple continents. And then there was the food! Bellinis, wild boar ragu on papparedelle, Lamb T-bones crusted in cumin. Everything excellent. In addition, Giorgios has a small but very nice wine list. I am a wine snob and really was impressed with his taste in both whites, reds, and sparkling wines. This is a pearl in the Pearl. Go and get treated like family. Awesome restaurant.

    I have been coming here for years but have not been back for 9 months. I bought a living social coupon and came back to one of my favorite places but oh boy, it has gone down hill. We came in at 5:30pm and no one showed up for almost one hour. We ordered an appetizer (cuttle fish), soup, 2 entrees and a 2 kids meal (spaghetti and pizza) with 2 drinks. The living social covered the soup and entrees. Our cuttle fish never came and the server got our entrees wrong too. Although he did bring out soup and salad, neither items were what we ordered. The appetizer (cuttle fish) never came. We paid for the kids pizza, kids spaghetti and 2 drinks at $48; not what I would expect as we ate less than 25% of the food. We provided a $17 tip for the service but the food was horrible and way too expensive. Lastly, they complained our kids were too loud as they said "let's go mommy and daddy." This was not a good experience and I'm very sadden to see such a good restaurant go down hill. We will not be back.

    We have lived in the Pearl two blocks away from Giorgios for seven years and have dined there many years ago. As with many other reviews we had found the food good but overpriced. When they came out with a Groupon we figured that they were in trouble, which is not surprising because unlike so many places in the Pearl they never seem to be very busy. Never the less we thought that a Groupon would be a good way to experience the restaurant again at a more reasonable price. As another reviewer said, the Groupon was billed as a $100 value for two. For that each diner gets a slice of bread, a glass of house red or white, a choice of one salad or one soup, and a pasta dish. The food was excellent though not a $100 value. It was probably worth the $50 we paid for the Groupon. The service was good by the two wait staff in the entire place. What was very noticeable to us was the owner/manager. He would go to the non-Groupon tables and see how people were doing. We did not see him do the same at any of the five tables where Groupon patrons were seated. The meal was over in less than an hour, which was just as well so we could go somewhere else for more drinks and dessert (which would have been extra). With so much good food, especially Italian so nearby, there is no reason to go back in our minds. I imagine that this is a moot point however. While the owner was ignoring us, we had a couple of great conversations with other Groupon patrons, and the same deficiencies were noticed by others. If you have a Groupon I would use it soon before the place closes for good.

    Giorgio's is one of the best kept secrets in The Pearl! Giorgio is a gracious, caring host willing and very capable of guiding guests through the wine and food offerings. The food is delicious, pasta fresh made, exquisite combinations of Sensory stimuli. Creative without the hubris of a self-aggrandizing chef. It has that east coast feeling of a Mafia haunt...difficult to find in Portland.

    My partner and I stopped here for dinner tonight on a whim while walking around the Pearl. We were a bit wary because only one other couple was dining. However, we had an amazing dining experience. We were very happy to see the restaurant had a Barolo by the glass. So delicious. I started with the marinated beets which had a wonderful melding of unique flavors. I selected the fish special for my entree which was perfectly cooked and also had a wonderful mixture of flavors. My partner had the gnocchi which he also really enjoyed. The server was attentive, but gave us our space as well. He even graciously offered us a tasty dessert on the house. The restaurant decor is very nice with some intriguing paintings for viewing. This was such a delightful experience for a restaurant we picked haphazardly. I highly recommend it!!

    The Pappardelle pasta was very good. But overall, Giorgio's is very overpriced. I've been to Italian restaurants all across the US. When you are asked if you want bread, typically you are not charged for it. $3 for 2 slices of bread? $14 for a cheese pizza for our daughter? No thanks. I have no problem paying for a great meal, but I just didn't see the value in Giorgio's.

    Like many others, ventured in here due to a Living Social deal. We went on a Friday night and it was only about 1/4 full as we got there. As instructed on the deal, I mentioned this to the person when making the reservations, and again as we sat down, but he gave us the regular menus. After perusing the menus, I started wondering if we could just order off the regular menu, but since the deal was a prix fixe, I suspected not. Well after coming up with some good selections off the regular menu, the waiter suddenly "remembered" the other menus and brought them over. Of course the selection of that menu was quite limited. Our waiter did say we could order off the regular menu for a surcharge, though I never dared to find out how much that would have been. I ended up getting the squash soup and the duck and my wife got the arugula salad along with spaghetti and meatballs. The food was decent, although the duck confit was so salty I couldn't even eat it without eating it along with some of the polenta that it sat on. The soup was good, but as another reviewer said, it was barely warm. As the restaurant got busier, our service got slower and slower as there was only one waiter to cover about 12 tables. So, slow service got slower. Pumpkin cheesecake was good, but overall not impressed with service or food. Considering what we paid for the certificate and the extra we paid, it wasn't worth it (my biggest complaint was that I paid $5 for hot tea, which consisted of a small kettle of hot water along with a selection of Stash tea bags). I also didn't like the fact that when the waiter (finally) brought the bill, he made a point to highlight what it would have cost without the certificate (as if the food they served was worth it). Like my wife commented, it's like an overpriced Pastini's, which is probably where we'll go to next time instead.

    Giorgio's wasn't what I expected, but that's totally a good thing. Constantly on the search for Italian food, I have no qualms heading into the Pearl and dressing it up a little bit. This isn't a super dressy spot, though, and definitely way more laid back despite the low lighting and white tablecloths. I did fall in love with that golden wall color. Professional. That's a good word to describe the ambiance. Professional without treading into the world of sterile. It still had charm and character. I think many of the people dining around us in their small dining room were doing the after work dinner thing as it was. Reservations didn't seem to be necessary, but I made them anyway. There were still several tables available while we ate. The food is legitimate. There are several fresh specials that the server will rattle off for you, but you can definitely take a look at the board at the entrance. In order to save room for cocktails at Teardrop ( yelp.com/biz/teardrop-co… ), we opted for just entrees. They're more than filling, especially with the refillable bread basket. I'd like to say the chicken I had stole the show. It was some of the best chicken I've ever had. Never have I had chicken so tender and tasty. Chicken can be so easily forgettable, but not here. The menu isn't extensive, but they definitely make up up the lack of quantity with quality. Probably not the best Italian spot in Portland, but it certainly ranks up there as a contender.

    The inside decor is decent but not what I would expect for an expensive restaurant. The waitress was very nice however the owner who greeted us at the door was not very friendly or welcoming, and in fact rather cold. The food was alright but I was expecting much more from this place. I would suggest saving your money and going elsewhere.

    Giorgio's is a true staple in the Pearl. Was one of the first, and still turns out excellent meals and a wonderful dining experience. Our most recent visit was last Saturday night, and while not overly busy, it was lively and the service was outstanding. My favorite is always the Pappardelle with Wild Boar Ragu. Just outstanding. Oh, and don't miss the Warm Chocolate Cake!

    Horrible experience by trying to use the cash value of our expired groupon, which Groupon stated on the sheet that the cash value never expires, and can be used for any goods or services provided by the merchant. Not only did we not get any discount, which is absolutely fine, since we're the ones that didn't use it in time, we were charged a surcharge of $10 for using the expired groupon. The owner also said that it's a waste of his time to explain it to us?! He also told me that since I'm Asian, my English is not good enough to comprehend what's stated on the groupon, what a laugh!!! I bought a $192 groupon that's good for anything in the restaurant, the owner told us that it's only good for a pasta dinner for 4, that's one very expensive pasta dinner for 4. Needless to say, we'll never go back again, such terrible service!!! We'd much rather go to Andina, Blue Hour, Wildwood, Ox, they always have great service.

    We are visitors staying in The Pearl, so wanted to patronize restaurants nearby. Our apartment had a book on Portland Happy Hours and Giorgios was given high marks. We arrived at 5 pm when they opened, and told the waitress we were there for Happy Hour. She said we could sit in the dining room and didn't have to be in the bar. There was 1 other couple there for dinner. The waitress brought us a regular dinner menu and wine list and we had to ask for the Happy Hour menu. She brought them to us, and then in a few minutes, whisked them away and said those were not the right ones. (Her 2nd day on the job). There was only one white wine and one red wine offered for $5 a glass. The "old" menu listed a Chardonnay but the "new" menu listed a Soave, so that's what we ordered. She said if we didn't like the Soave we could change to the Chardonnay. took a taste and didn't like the Soave (which was a very small pour and came in a small glass), so I said I would take her offer and exchange for the Chardonnay (which came in a regular size wine glass and was an adequate pour). Hubby ordered a second glass of wine and wanted the Chard also. We ordered the Potato Gnocchi and Pizza of the day. Both were very good which is why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1. Music was jazz, ambiance was cold and owner paid lots of attention to other couple, but not until we were ready to leave, did he even acknowledge we were there, despite passing us many times to visit the other couple having dinner. When the check came, we were charged the regular price of $10 each for the 2 Chardonnays PLUS $5 for the Soave I did not drink. We were there an hour and no other customers came in. Sorry to say that unless something changes, this place won't last long. Just out the door BOA across the street had a full house, many full tables outside and a waiting list! Guess where we will spend our next Happy Hour and dinner!

    This review is long overdue. I've lived in the Pearl for 2.5 years and I cannot even count the number of times I walked past this restaurant without a second thought. We finally went in for dinner one night, and I came out hating myself for having not gone in earlier. So many delicious meals I missed. The calamari is exquisite. It was light, and the accompanying sauce is so delicious, I almost licked it entirely before they took away the bowl. We had the osso bucco (amazing) and the homemade pappardelle. It was delectable. No leftovers were boxed. Giorgio was unassuming and shockingly nice. He helped us picked an amazing bottle of wine which has become one of our favorites. And when he left, he thanked us for our business, and I could tell he meant it. It makes you want to go back and eat there soon. We can't wait to go back. It truly is a gem. People, go here!!! We don't want this restaurant to suffer the same inauspicious fate as many lately... it would be a travesty to lose this place.

    For my recent birthday, my husband surprised me with a dinner at Giorgio's. When he said that we were going to the Pearl, I immediately assumed it would be the Portland City Grill or some other busy, loud venue. Sooooo glad it wasn't! Upon entering, the ambiance is immediately noticeable. Dim lights, and though most tables were filled, it didn't feel crowded. The patrons consisted mainly of people in their 30s and up; no boisterous groups of young meat looking for a place to be noticed. The food was wonderful. We ordered the calamari, which is the best I've had in a long time. Light and crisp, not greasy. I had the pumpkin ravioli, which came with roasted butternut squash and a slew of other sweet vegetables. My husband had the cod, which was as tender and as flavorful as it was pretty. Excellent service, authentic flavors and great atmosphere for a romantic quiet evening any day of the week. Not cheap by any means, but well worth it.

    We purchased the living social deal ... went last friday and even though the food was good the portions were so tiny we were highly disappointed...we were given a different menu and were excited but when the meal came..well what a disappointment! We are saddened that a restaurant can do this to promote new customers..yet...not be fair...we saw other portions going by that were purchased from the real menu and theirs were much larger..Why? We would go back...but now feel that they are trying to rip off good customers who..(we drove from Salem) are out for a nice dinner...It is a shame...so sad now a days when times are tough for everyone and integrity should be something restaurants should strive for... will not go back...

    Setting: Living Social coupon, Wednesday evening. Giorgio greeted us and waited on us. We each ordered a glass of wine. Our fried calamari appetizer was sublime. The calamari appetizer was fresh, lightly battered and plated with crisp lettuce bits,thin slices of fennel and a ring of lemon-tinged sauce. It was fabulous and my dining partner thoroughly enjoyed it and he's not a calamari fan. Our Chet's salads were crisp and fresh. We ordered the chicken and ricotta meatballs with spaghetti and a homemade lasagna. The meatball sauce was robust and delicious and the lasagna was magnificent with layers of freshly made pasta, besciamella sauce, rabbit and kale. It reminded me of the lasagnas my Italian cooking teacher prepared. Two freshly brewed cups of coffee and their warm chocolate cake with homemade gelato capped a wonderful dining experience. With only Giorgio in the dining room, the service got a little ragged as the tables filled. We would definitely return. After reviewing the yelp write-ups, I suspect that Giorgio takes the comments to heart. There is now music and there was no charge for the 3 slices of bread in the basket. Our appetizer, beverages and dessert were not part of the Living Social coupon. Having the coupon made sampling off the regular menu feel like a treat.

    I called twice to make reservations. Both were at different times today. We were taking a trip to Portland and wanted to make reservations to use the Living Social Voucher for dinner. Early Saturday morning, I looked online to see if I could make dinner reservations for late that evening for dinner but there was no online booking option available. We went ahead and went to Portland and I tried to call while there to make reservations for dinner. There was no answer and no answering machine. We spent the day there and looked in some stores while I tried to decide what to do since I hadn't been able to get through to this place. In the evening, I again tried to call the restaurant to see if I could make reservations but AGAIN no answer and NO answering machine. At this point, we decided to go ahead and drive over there and see if we could get in since it was still over an hour or so until closing. It was well after dinner rush so I thought that they shouldn't have a problem getting us in and I didn't know when we would be going back to Portland again. I purchased the offer to use for this particular trip but I don't like to schedule too early in case something happens and we have to reschedule our trip. I've never had a problem using a LS voucher before. Never had a problem with any other restaurant or anything with any voucher I've used myself or voucher that someone I am with used. Most often, the people are quite pleasant and accommodating due to the point of the voucher being to get new business so they will come back as repeat customers. We arrived at the restaurant and was seated. There was hardly anyone there. I went to the bathroom as soon as we were seated and when I returned I made sure that the waiter knew that we had a LS voucher for dinner for the 4 of us. He said that he wasn't sure if he could accommodate us since it required we had reservations. I thought to myself that what was the difference if they could fit us in for dinner then what difference did it make if we were using a voucher or paying cash? It seemed to me a little sketchy since they don't have online booking, don't answer the phone or have an answering machine and you can't just walk in. What is the options then? After explaining that I would just refund my voucher, he decided to bring us the "limited menu" available to the LS voucher dinners. He then informed us that the only meal of any appeal which was the Pork entree, was out so we had the option of gnocchi and chicken meatballs and spaghetti. I was not pleased since that was really the only entree that most of us would have wanted and so we declined and left very unsatisfied with the service and the manner in which we were treated as customers. Boy, if you want to feel like you are a begger and asking for a free meal, then go in here with a voucher. It's really offensive since we spent good money on this voucher and then they are not willing to accommodate us. They want to either not serve us at all or serve us even more limited menu items of a lessor price option. Sad. I've never encountered anything like this before. We went down the road to Trader Vics and spent about $150 which was spent with more enthusiasm then I would have spent $25 on at Giorgio's. I expect to be treated with the up most respect when I use a voucher or not. I find it hard to believe that right after you sell some hundreds of vouchers that you are not well stocked on the 1st weekend night, especially for the very limited menu items. Not the way to get new business. Hey, this is just how I see it. I requested a voucher refund because I was within the 7 day refund time period and I had no intention of going back to be treated like that again. He was unpleasant and unaccommodating, especially after learning we had a voucher.

    New Years' eve is a terrible night to go out. Bottom of the barrel kitchen and wait staff who would rather be anywhere other than where they are make ordering even the house staple a real adventure. Then there's those wonderful drunk, noisy patrons who find new, and interesting ways to loudly laugh at stuff that, well, just isn't funny to anyone other than themselves. All things considered I would rather stay home and watch Ball State play Franklin & Marshall on ESPN. Did I mention that I don't care what the sport is? But this year with the weather the way it had been we simply had to get out of the house, New Year's Eve or not. So, what a pleasant surprise to arrive at Giorgio's at about 7:00PM 12/31 to collect our reservation to find that the place was busy but quiet and orderly with a professional staff that was raring to go. They even smiled! My wife did her usual which is to have a total of 3 appetizers and desert for her meal. I had an appetizer, salad, and an entree (and a fair bit of my wife's desert). Simply put, the food was excellent. The menu changes all the time so reviewing the meal in detail probably won't be useful, but I can tell you that each salad, mushroom thingy, seared tuna, and lamb dish that we had was flat excellent. The place was full and the pace was frantic but our server never left us "dangling slowly in the wind". The room was able to accommodate the noise too. My only less than glowing comment is that the wine list is not posted on their otherwise excellent website. I brought my own. I'd rather not do that but I had no idea how to decode the "wine program" described on the web into something that would be great with the diverse tastes that my wife and I have. So, if you are looking for a top notch experience in a place that is professionally run with great food, here's your spot.....and having read the wine list I can tell you that you can leave yours at home. I don't think you can make a mistake here.

    I and 3 family members celebrated my birthday at Giorgios on Dec. 3rd for dinner. I had not been to Giorgios for at least 7 years. The food was better than ever. To start, I asked our waiter to have the bartender make me some kind of cocktail with bourbon. It was perfect. For starters we had some gnocchi , calamari and some lamb meatballs. All 3 dishes were standouts. But my favorite was the gnocchi ; so tender and an amazing light tangy sauce. We all chose the same main dish; the wild boar ragout over the most tender ribbons of pasta. Not a bite was left on anyone's plate. It was so flavorful and satisfying . The service was fine, though it could have been more attentive. I and my 3 dining companions will be back.

    A nice, quaint place in Pearl District serving some homemade-like Italian food with very unique and interesting ingredients. The menu is pretty simple but it seems like the chef has put much thought into it. I liked the food (dungeness crab ravioli with promodoro sauce was quite tasty!) but the service was extremely slowwwww. Like too slow. Maybe I need to try this place again to truly appreciate the food here. It's just a bit hard when you have so many choices to choose from in the area.

    I had lived in the Pearl for two years and never went to Giorgio's because of its quiet presence on the corner as well as in the media. Seems Giorgio just isn't one to go touting his fare on the street corner or selling his soul to our local papers to get diners into his restaurant. What a gem I'd been missing out on! The quality of the ingredients and the superbly executed recipes provide a dining experience that is unparalleled in the Pearl District, and on par with some of the most exquisite cuisine I've had anywhere in the states. I would describe the food as Italian by inspiration, with traditional Italian flavors and preparations, and French by execution, with great care given to simple, seasonal ingredients. The bruschetta with grilled peaches and shaved truffles that I've ordered about the last five times I've been there is truly brilliant, and I will cry in my delicious seasonal soup when it's gone. The menu does change to reflect local availability, but I've found this to be an extraordinary plus given the skills and talent of the chef and kitchen crew. Everything I've ordered has been hands down top-notch. And I'm a very picky former restaurant manager. Four stars since I'm frequently a single diner and prefer to eat in the bar, where I can hide in obscurity as I relish the perfectly grilled Piedmontese steak with creamy Gorgonzola risotto, but the bar never seems to be staffed. However, Giorgio himself has waited on me in the dining room and I've always received excellent service. Definitely a foodie destination. Unpretentious even though it's in the Pearl.

    One of the best restaurants in the pearl and so far the best Italian I've had in the city. Portion sizes are perfect ingredients fresh and flavorful and the service is shape. Owner was on site and is genuinely interested in your experience. I had the sea bass which was phenomenal and the spaghetti and lamb meatballs were as Italian as it gets. I will be back for dinner tomorrow!

    Hidden Italian jem. Having just returned from several weeks in Italy, I can safely say that the food at Giorgio's definitely has authentic Italian flair - with unique but simple dishes that have a tendency to send your taste buds into a pleasure frenzy. Our server was phenomenal (definitely 5 stars). She was professional but laid-back and she set a nice friendly tone and paced the meal perfectly. We stayed well watered and never waited a minute more than we should have for any part of dinner. The lighting is low (but not dark), which creates an intimate but not overly romantic feel. While it would be a great place for a date, there were quite a few tables made up of friends or several couples. The decor is simple and tasteful: large wood-framed mirrors adorn the walls, white-linened tables lend an air of elegance, and the seating is on comfortable leather-covered chairs and benches. On the downside, the food is a little pricey for what you are getting, the cocktails/wine-by-the-glass run at least $9 and bottles are equally expensive. This is a trendy restaurant with elegance and a strong menu which gives it plenty of staying power. To keep costs down, have cocktails elsewhere before dinner and split an appetizer (the server was extremely kind in splitting the divine pumpkin soup into two small cups so we could share). Also, my taste-buds still tingle at the mere thought of the chocolate cake & caramel ice-cream dessert. Don't skip dessert.

    I have wanted to try Georgio's for a long time but with so many new restaurants popping up in PDX I always forget about it. It is also not a place I would frequent because the cost is prohibitive, but for the occasional splurge it is perfect. I really give this place 4.5 stars and would have given 5 but the service was a little off - but not to the detriment of our evening. The waiter was a lovely and charming girl - my guess is she was a little new, once she has the menu and timing down a bit better she will be great. The food was fabulous. I don't eat meat and they only had one vegetarian option but it was extremely delicious - ravioli with wild chantrelles in brown butter. The aps, salads and deserts were excellent. My friends had hanger steak and a wild boar pasta dish and they were very happy. I look forward to returning before the year ends :)

    This is high quality Italian food in a simple but romanic setting. The wild boar ragu paperadelle is excellent. The lamb gnocchi is the best I have had. This place is for people who want good, well thought out food made with love.

    When a business offers a Groupon, I believe the intention is for the guest to return another time and pay full price. The owners of Giorgio's forgot that part. My boyfriend spent $50 on a deal supposedly valued at $100. I'd say the experience was worth $25. With with so many fantastic dining options in Portland, it's sad when a restaurant doesn't step up their game. I would say the food is decent. Here's what got me - the "bread basket" had two slices of bread and to have additional cost $2. Sad. The service was cold and disconnected, I did not feel welcome at all. The ambiance was depressing. Will not return, I'd rather go spend that kind of money at Oba or Andina.

    We stopped in for dinner on our way to a show and tried the fish special, which was fluke. It was delightfully prepared and they did a lovely kitchen split for us. I had the beet salad, which was also delicious. We were nearly the only ones there so the service was great. - I think one other table was filled - but we were there on a Tuesday and at 6pm so maybe it would have been busier on the weekend or even later. The atmosphere was excellent. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit high, which may explain the lack of customers. That is the only reason I can think of.
