We saw the four star reviews so stopped for breakfast. BAD idea. No bagels (for the lox and bagels) so we ordered corned beef hash - with no option for how the eggs could be cooked. We got our coffees (from two dispensers that were nearly empty) and bought juice. THEN after 10 minutes, we were told our Oder. Old not be filled because they were out of the hash! So, credit back the costs, make the juice and coffee a "take away".... All in all not an experience to repeat!

Great, slightly hidden, spot for lunch downtown (am I the only one who is surprised that there are not more good places in the waterfront area? but I digress...). Yes, it is a bit expensive for what it is- but you are getting much better quality ingredients than say, Subway or Quiznos. This is actually one of the few restaurants I have been to that has IMPROVED their quality since they opened. Soft, chewy white bread, quality steak, fresh turkey. Their soups are also delicious, though they tend to be on the heavier side. Be advised they make all the sandwiches at the counter to order, so if you chose something that needs to be grilled during the lunch rush, you may have to wait a minute. They do have seating (and newspapers) to keep you occupied, but if you can come before noon/after 12:30.

I have been coming to this restaurant for well over a year now and I am completely hooked. What a great spot downtown for both breakfast and lunch in a clean and friendly space with both dine-in and take-out options. I recently found out that they cater as well! They have a nice lineup of sandwiches, salads, and soups for lunch with daily specials that taste like the came out of the kitchen of a 5 star restaurant. The best kept secret in Portland may be their Friday clam chowder. Even if you don't typically care for clam chowder, you will be converted after tasting the clam chowder farm house cafe. The prices are very reasonable for a high-end deli that slow roasts their own meats and makes their own soups and specials from scratch. If you haven't tried farm house yet, you are missing a treat!

Updated review: What is the spice they use in their ranch dressing?! I cannot place it and am not so sure I like it! And although I originally thought the price was ok...I was floored this last visit. PRE MADE sandwich, bread was dry....pre made salad with like 2 slices of cucumber, and 4 little tomato pieces and maybe 12 carrot match sticks..and a soda... $12!!!! I changed my rating as well. Previous review: Despite initially receiving the wrong lunch order, I really liked this place. I got a free sandwich for next time to apologize for the error. Awesome! The turkey is delicious and everything is fresh. I think it is worth the $8 considering a Subway sandwich only costs a couple dollars less, and doesn't even compare to Farm House.

Great quality. Heavy on meat options but some good lacto-ovo veggie options usually.

MY GOD THE BACON. The candied bacon to be specific, on the CBLT, quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever eaten. I guess it's good that it's only an occasional special so that I don't over-do it on the cholesterol. Other things looked great too, but one bite of the CBLT made me a fan for life!

You would think working in downtown Portland resulted in a plethora of great lunch spots to frequent. Sadly, this isn't the case. This place has had paper up in the windows for months and I've been eagerly waiting to try it out. It opened this Monday and having failed to do any grocery shopping this week, I was in need of lunch yesterday. It still seems as though they're trying to work out some of the kinks and it definitely has that "new business" feel to it but overall I think it's pretty good. They have a small menu of sandwiches (they're big thing is that they slow roast their own meats in house) and salads as well as two daily soups. You can also pick up pre-made sandwiches and salads if you don't want to wait for a custom order. You have the choice of rustic bread or a sub, toasted or not. All in all, it was pretty tasty. Although $8 for a whole sandwich with nothing else does seem a bit pricey. That being said, my turkey sandwich on rustic bread with pepperjack hit the spot. My only complaint is they didn't really have a veggie sandwich option (which is always my preference). They've got some basic breakfast items on their menu as well. All in all, a nice, new addition to the downtown dining wasteland scene.

Yum yum yum. Hard to find good lunch downtown that is fast. Breakfast sandwiches are awesome, meat is amazing flavor and quality. Lunch sandwiches are also great - the club made to order or the roast beef premade are my 2 go-tos. So tasty! Service is friendly for the most part. Gets 4 stars because it is a bit pricey.

It's Friday and this morning I had breakfast at the Farmhouse Cafe. Spinach, bacon omelet with toast. I must say I eat here often and am never dissapointed. Good food, quality and owners who really appreciate your business. The soup and sandwiches for lunch are wonderful as well as their wraps. We've needed a great deli in downtown for quite some time, so glad it's arrived. Drop by and try it, I think you will like!

I go to this place at LEAST once a week. Love love love their sandwiches and fresh soup. I know everyone raves about their meats, but I am a vegetarian and I really appreciate the Grab N' Go veggie sandwich, fresh salads, and veggie burger. Really friendly service. People that work in that area know how long the lines can get around noon at places like Subway, Tom's First Avenue Bento, Chipotle, etc. Farm House is never too crazy, it's like a hidden treasure! Nice decor, relaxed, but not dive-y by any means. Yes they do have "pre-made" options. But they are made like an hour before the lunch crowd. It's not like they are made the day before. And in addition to the Grab N' Go, they have a full menu you can order fresh from. I also appreciate their wide selection of bottle bevs. One recommendation to Farm House ... GET A WEBSITE! It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but at least you could post your soups for the day and a current menu.

DONT GO HERE for breakfast. We tried to order lox platter but they were out of bagels. We ordered corned beef hash, paid and sat down awaiting call and then learned they were out of the hash. We had taken the last cups of coffee in the 2 coffee pots so we left with a refund for the breakfasts. Add the absence of ambiance and we give this place a zero for breakfast

Dear Farmhouse: We've only known each other for a short time but my love for you grows deeper every day. In the mornings you whip up some scrambled eggs and rustic toast, grilled to perfection. When I am running late for a meeting, you save my ass every time with your refrigerator case filled with delightful-on-the-go deliciousness. I feel like I have scored a deal every time I buy your hummus pack: crisp veggies, feta cheese, kalamata olives, fresh pita slices and hummus all for just $5!! Your drink case is always filled with diverse options and your owners are extra sweet. When the time is right I will move us on and try some of the other things on your menu like your slow roasted meat sandwiches and maybe even soup. Thank you for coming to town and saving me from the god awful deli in my building that is over priced and thinks that Kraft singles are an exceptional cheese. I look forward to spending more time with you in the future. Your friend, Lori A.

To be fair, it's really more of a 3.5 stars. I recently came here with my girlfriend to grab a sandwich. We got there just after 3pm, which is when they stop doing their made to order sandwiches, but the nice guy who works there said it wouldn't be a problem for us to order something off their main menu. I got the roast beef with horse radish. The meat was really good, but the horseradish had zero zing to it. I ordered the sandwich because I wanted to taste the horseradish! They even gave me some extra, and after I put a bunch more on, I still couldn't taste it. My girlfriend loved her turkey cranberry sandwich. Over all I think its a decent little lunch spot. The service was great and the decor is trying, although they still need to bring it together a little better, they have cool well crafted tables and interesting light fixtures, but then they sort of drop the ball on some other decorating details, the menu on the wall needs a major redesign. I plan on returning, but I won't expect my horseradish to have any bite to it.

I eat here often because I work in the building. Sam, the owner is always there and is very nice. I like that have homemade soups and offer alternatives that many other places don't such as hummus and veggies for lunch.
