While they didn't have any apple pastries as I was looking for, I did enjoy the Danish Cinnamon roll once I heated it up in my dorm room. I recommend this bakery to anyone who enjoys high quality pastries that are hand crafted and priced within reason.

I'd like this place a lot more if it were ever open... It's bad enough it closes at 2 but when I stop by at 1:30 and there's somebody in there and the door is locked I have to admit I'm super annoyed.

I have too many favorite flavors. They are the best macaroons in pdx by far!

After scouring the city in search of custom baked goods for a baby shower I was hosting, I read about Farina in Portland Monthly. The bakery has been only open in it's Hawthorne space (so darling and welcoming!) for half a year but the owner, Laura Farina, has been baking at Kitchen Cru and local markets for years - especially known for her macarons. I decided to check it out and boy was I glad! Laura was very responsive over email and whipped up some custom macarons and cupcake for us to sample weeks prior. Everything was delicious and the order was easily made over email. They made us custom macarons with vanilla ganache that looked as beautiful as they tasted. The thing I loved about Farina was their willingness to make whatever we asked - we asked for petit fours - and in the design we wanted. No hassle and smooth sailing. Laura was as nice in person as she was through the entire process. Highly recommend Farina bakery (and remember - they can make way more than just macarons!) for a mass order for an elegant event or a weekend pastry.

I first got a taste of Farina macaroons at the Farmer's Market in Wilsonville a couple of years ago. How can so much bold flavor be imbedded into a tiny cookie? After a couple weeks I discovered that the friendly face selling me delicious cookies every week was the owner, Laura Farina. She's a smiling, friendly, humble person who just loves to bake. The good news now, is that you no longer need to search all over town for these decadent treats, because she now has a storefront location on Hawthorne. This is a cool little location with fun mural on the wall and cozy wood finishes. There's also so much more than just the macaroons. Farina also offers cookies, scones, muffins, and other treats. Portlander's love local businesses, and this one has the friendliest owner in town, so be sure to visit and enjoy the amazing baked goods.

Farina Bakery just made 300 French Macaroons for my wedding. We ordered Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Nutella, and Raspberry. We served them with fresh Oregon berries and whipped cream and they were a *huge* hit. They were super fresh, with a wonderful delicate texture and flavor--everything you can ever want from a macaroon. I'm still getting compliments from guests on how good they were. Not only were they delicious, but Laura was super helpful when we swung by the shop and really accommodating with our order, despite our wedding being on a holiday. I highly recommend Farina Bakery for anything from a little sweet in the middle of the day to awesome service and expert craftsmanship for an event.

Love love love! The baked goods are so fresh and scrumptious. Service is a delight. Atmosphere is so fun. A tad pricey, but worth it. Also, the selection doesn't vary quite as much as I'd hope, but the food they do have is wonderful.

To say the least, this place is the best bakery in Portland. Quality coffee, amazing hand-pie and the people their are amazingly genuine! Love, love, love!

The place is really cute, and Laura is extremely friendly. Came in from California and needed an order for macaroons got a baby shower, was super quick and smooth and the macaroons are really good.

Every time someone asks what bakery would I recommend around Portland, I ALWAYS recommend Farina Bakery. Their baked goods are so good, and their macarons are ON POINT! I've been to nine different bakeries around the area that sells macarons and Farina Bakery is by far, THE BEST! I'm also BIG on customer service, and everyone here is the nicest ever! ..and Laura ALWAYS helps me out whenever I'm stuck in a jam and need to order 100-200 macarons at a time for an event! Thank you so much Farina Bakery! You guys are awesome!!

All I can say is WOW! I was so impressed by their ability to recreate the bizarre wedding cake flavors that my husband and I enjoyed on our wedding. She even recreated the lace piping and her buttercream frosting is divine! We ate the entire anniversary cake she made for us in a week (I know, I know). Without a doubt, you want Farina Bakery to make your sweets, for whatever occasion. They are fast, professional, flexible, and high quality. You won't be disappointed!

Farina Bakery is a fabulous addition to the Hawthorne neighborhood! Their macarons are the BEST in town! Nutella, Vanilla, Marionberry, Raspberry, Maple Walnut...all of them! Their other tasty treats are wonderful as well. You have to stop in when strolling along lower Hawthorne!

My Mom always said that the difference between good baked goods and great baked goods is love. Farina baked goods consistently taste like they're made with love. I've been comforted by the blueberry/ginger muffins, blueberry danish, and strawberry/rhubarb turnovers.

I've sampled at least half of the macaron varieties offered, and have yet to be disappointed! The holiday gift boxes I ordered as presents were a huge hit at my family Christmas party, and were packaged beautifully to boot. The gingerbread was particularly good, and i'm not usually much of a gingerbread fan. It also doesn't hurt that the owner Laura is as sweet as the treats she makes, and rushed my order to make sure I received it in time for the holidays! I know the nutella is tempting but don't be afraid to branch out, the fruit flavors are really where it's at!

French Macaron QUEEN is here!!! Look no further. Have ordered from her few times and each time my guests and I were satisfied. Yes, it's better then Nuvrei. Macarons are chewy yet crisp and crunchy on the outside and her macarons are FRESH! Will suggest her Bakery to friends and family.

I got a Salted Caramel macaron this morning and it was exquisite. Will be back there often.

What a sweet place! A really great selection of baked goods and especially loved the macarons!! She began by baking them out of her apt. She's been open for five months and I'm so glad I found Farina! In the throes of hatching eggs, tomorrow you can get frosted egg and carrot shaped cookies!! Go for a savory galette or scone then try one of the many delicious macarons. I had the Orange Cardamom and it was perfect!! Took home a bag of goodies, so Thx for that!! Hubby will love it. Check out the apron paintings on the walls and the aprons and things for sale as well. I will send anyone wanting a macaron or any baked treat for that matter to Farina!!

BEST. MACARONS. IN. TOWN. Forget Pix and Nuvrei -- I know both are Portland institutions, but I've been to both many times and left disappointed frequently. Pix often has macarons that are frozen in the middle, with some even being hollow in the middle O_O Nuvrei's are equally as inconsistent; I've spent far too much money on stale macarons with boring flavors there. But enter Farina Bakery. Farina's bread and butter are their macarons. They nail it on the head in terms of quality (I've never, ever had a disappointing macaron there; all have been texturally and aesthetically perfect), with a wide range of flavors. You'll find inventive, seasonal flavors here that you'll be hard-pressed to find at Pix and Nuvrei. Think: Bananas Foster, and a honey pecan macaron made from pecan meal as opposed to almond meal. The bakery itself is intimate and gorgeous, with hand-painted murals and vintage furniture and lots of natural light. They also have coffee (but no espresso machine, unfortunately) and a great selection of Smith tea, as well as other pastries that are made in-house. Although the macarons are definitely the star of the show, their other pastries are pretty good too. But seriously; come for the macarons.

Macarons are my favorite sin. I have tried many places in Portland, but they just don't compare to the ones I got in Paris or so I thought. This place has it done right. The macrons are reasonably priced and they are BOMB!! The crisp shells, soft slightly chewing interior, and flavorful filling makes this maracon really one of the best in pdx.

You are looking for the special Old or new, but true Yelp offers up Farina with a mouth Full of five star reviews They're true. Sit and have a Sterling coffee Smell the sweetness in the air Savory Galette or Macaron Éclair beyond compare Laura's beauty fills each bite Until your choice is gone. Stay a while, watch them work Laura and her happy crew Then you will wish to join the ranks The Farina Five Star Review. There are no edges here Just soft and open and true.

When is the last time you found the owner working on a Saturday? That's what I found when I entered Farina Bakery this weekend. I like seeing an owner/operator willing to take a unfavorable shift. Just my two cents. I will also mention in the dog eat dog world of cafes and bakeries here in town customer service rates just slightly less important than flavor and quality. Laura was very friendly and was very accommodating by listening to me ramble on while I paid for my goodies. Now to the food. I bought a box of macaroons to share with my wife. We've tried Pix, Papa Haydn's, St. Honore Boulangerie and Petite Provence. They don't come close, in fact the people making them at Pix need to ask Laura to offer some macaroon making classes because honestly the quality gap is embarrassing. Every flavor we tried, tiramisu, raspberry, chocolate marionberry and lemon were spot on. This is a guaranteed return visit!

If you love macarons. Try this place. If you love cute things in general, try this place. No kidding around, there is nothing about Farina Bakery that's not lovable. The macarons are to die for. The coffee is good. The staff is always cheerful. The pastries are delicious. The wall paper is supreme. I'm in love, you probably will be too

The macarons here were so good! The flavors were not overpowering and didn't taste cheap and artificial. My favorites included pistachio, Meyer lemon (would be better with a hint of berry to counter the tart lemon), Nutella and butter pecan (I think that was the name of the flavor but it tasted like warm butter and sugar with a nutty undertone. Wow!) The woman that helped me was so sweet! The decor was eclectic - cute, shabby and chic! I would definitely return to try other treats.

This review is mostly for the owner, Laura, though her product is also delightful. She's amazing and as good as it gets. Total gem of a place. Great macarons. I'm sure she's been voted best in PDX for them already.

Wow. How often do you see the owner work the cash register? This was my first time here and I will say I'll be back. The macarons were perfectly made! The flavors were just right, they were not overly sweet, and they were all the same size, made with care. Now back to the owner, she is sweet and easy to talk with. She even took the time to write the flavors of the macarons I purchased. I can't wait to return.
