Sara is the best. Check out all her baked goods!!!!!! DELICIOUS! IT'S the only coffee shop I go to. Great place to have a music event.

Cozy atmosphere, usually quiet. Several computers on site for customers to use. Free WiFi and outside seating. I love their Chai tea latte. Sarah used to offer Sattwa Chai, which is the best I have ever had. Now I believe she uses Oregon Chai, which is good too. The shakes are amazing. The White Chocolate Peanut Butter shake was a little slice of heaven. There is always good music playing in the background. They serve Stumptown Coffee, which is my favorite! It beats Starbucks any day.

Just wanted to update to say congratulations to Sarah for keeping a unique, beautiful, quiet spot for still the best mocha in town, the fluffiest waffles (mmm, peach...), killer smoothies, and the nicest cafe owner around. Enjoyed breakfast and a book this morning - YUM. Glad to see the neighborhood embrace this spot for almost 3 years, and prove that all coffeeshops don't have to be hipster hideouts. Yay for Elevated!!

I needed to catch up with a friend and picked this place after reading Yelp reviews. The praise was on point. My Buttermilk Belgian Waffle was da bomb (yes, I'm breaking out my 90's slang). I also ordered a regular cup of coffee. I liked that coffee was readily available and I could go back as many times as I wanted. I didn't have to sit around and wait for a server to remember me. I also enjoyed the customer service. They weren't the standard annoying hipsters crowding up the Alberta, Mississippi, Williams, and MLK neighborhoods. Some of those people are so damn smug and annoying. These hipsters also stare at you like why are YOU in THEIR coffee shop, boutique, or restaurant. Naw homey, this was OUR neighborhood before you were even born. Blah. So, shout out to Elevated Coffee for treating me like a human being, very rare in gentrified NE.

great community coffee shop. They have a great ambiance with beautiful chairs and lounging area with books. And if your really inspired you can jump on the beautiful baby grand white piano and play some tunes for the locals. The pastries are also awesome! You have to try the peanut butter and choc shake.. Trust me it may sound gross but its DELICIOUS!!
(5)Brian W.
The blueberry waffle was SOOO good!
(5)Stefanie S.
I do actually LOVE this place...it was quiet and perfect for reading today!
(5)Lauren G.
I recently moved to this neighborhood and am still searching for a coffeeshop to call home. Elevated has great reviews (and the coffee was delicious) but I tend to like places that are more comfy and less rigid. The only lunch item was a panini of the day, which was also good. But i was hoping for more choices. I was impressed, however, with how well they seemed to their regulars. A handful of regs stopped in and were instantly greeted by name and coffee order. I think this is probably a great place - just not my sort of place.
(3)Lydia G.
I love it here. The baristas are super nice, good vibes, not a snobby neighborhood. It's charming, and there's usually only one barista. It's low key feel is what makes it special, and is worth the occasional quirk (one time the tomato on my bagel had a sticker on it, but it was busy so it's understandable. Everything is usually perfect).
(5)Geayl S.
Desperate for coffee this morning, but new to the area. The adorable little sandwich board with the helpful little coffee cup was my hero. And worried I was going to get some not so great espresso I was blown away by the flavor. The woman behind the counter was very kind to me. I'd recommend this place.
(4)Cassi K.
The baristas are consistently wonderful - - super friendly and accommodating. I usually come in for a day-old pastry and drip coffee and they always offer to warm up my scone :-) Also, the vegan cereal is amazing and super filling! Very affordable as well

This place is really cute and a good place to go on a Sunday morning to relax. If you have gluten or soy intolerance, I don't think they really have many options for food or drink. The peanut butter and honey with Banana waffle was delicious. Actually decadent is a better word! I also got the mangoberry smoothie, which was quite a treat!
(4)Shareshten K.
Great service, delicious and nourishing café!

Quaint coffee shop on NE MLK. They have an assortment of coffee drinks to offer. I had a latte and a Shake once. The latte was pure goodness. The Shake, OMG! Great flavor. It was a White Chocolate Peanut Butter shake. I didn't know all what they offered, just had to look up at the menu. They have computers for people to use. Very cool to offer that. Free WIFI. Numerous periodicals to read. A baby grand piano on-site.

This is not a raging comment! So i love mochas, everywhere i go the taste pretty much the same, since its the same recipe, so i don't have to explain the "flavor" I'm looking for, the lady had to fix it 3 times before i gave up, she made something close to a mocha but it wasn't the same, she was polite as she tried to fix the problem but i guess they do their mochas a little different, their fault or not, i wasn't very happy with the taste of it. so the start I'm giving this place is solely on this fact since i did not tried anything else. But that was enough for me to realize that if I ask for anything else, it would not be as I expect it to be. As far as the flavor goes. So i don't think i will be visiting this place again. I don't really have to explaining the flavor of my mocha to the barista. Again this is not a raging comment, I'm just writing MY own personal experience at ELEVATED Coffee. You are more than free to try it out for yourselves.

Elevated proves the rule that Stumptown coffee is always better at a non-Stumptown location. This is my favorite Americano in Portland right now. Not my first pick for hanging out, but it's a reliable choice for that crucial first cup before work. Great coffee, great price, friendly staff, and no wait in the morning.
(4)Greg B.
There is a certain fact of coffee shops. The coffee shops are all the same. There are tales. There are old books. Then there is the coffee in which I shove everything off the table and enjoy the Joe. I had this apricot pastry. I did not go for the other advertised but welcomed variety of dishes that the place offers. I simply wanted the coffee and it was at a cheap price. In a coffee place that is all what you need. Parking maybe difficult and the mere fact that it is on MLK does alert the customer that the outside is rather noisy.
(5)Nichelle M.
Very classy!! I love that it's very quite to there Belgium waffles are in point and there Italian vanilla soda is to die for
(5)Breylan D.
Sara is great! Stumptown is great! And Elevated is the perfect place to meet a client. It's usually pretty quiet inside, the decor is really fun, and all of the food is yummy. If you're ever there, have the honey latte. It's delicious!
(5)Chris G.
My wife needed to be caffeinated before waiting through my blood donation appointment, so we were cruising up MLK looking for a good coffee shop. I have to admit that the "Belgian Waffles" song in the window is what caught my attention. We walked in and immediately appreciated the classy decor... table clothes, chandeliers, a few fancy living room chairs, a white grand piano. We were surprised that it was empty. My wife enjoyed her Stumptown mocha while reading some poetry in book she found in their vast collection. (I may or may not have been reading a picture book about the making of Star Wars.) We noticed that they had a couple computers available for use and that they had quite a decadent dessert menu. A few people came in after us and it seemede like they were regulars. I we lived in that part of town, I think we'd be regulars, too.
(4)Tommy T.
Elevated Coffee is in the new Vanport Plaza. I only had coffee there, but it was Stumptown which is a personal favorite. The staff was nice and courteous and the prices were relatively reasonable. They have lots of cool art, all original, on the walls and lots of books to check out. Not only do they have wi-fi but they have computers that you can use. For a quick coffee escape, Elevated Coffee is great!
(4)Cody W.
I'm a local singer-songwriter who has played Elevated Coffee and recommends it as an entry-level gig to other local musicians. If you're an emerging local acoustic or jazz musician, Elevated Coffee is a great place to land a gig. The ambience is cool, the acoustics are live, and the ownership is highly supportive. They offer coffee for hipsters, wine for sipsters, and ice cream for youngsters. They sport a baby grand (in tune, no less) with light, playable action. They have a lively facebook presence, and promote their shows actively. They are good about following up via email re: questions, booking, etc. In addition to their scheduled lineup, they are flexible in accomodating impromptu & amateur performers --just check with the counter staff for opportunities. I've played there a half-dozen times in the past six months, and it's quickly become a favorite for families on my mailing list.

This is primarily a response to Damien's review from a musician's perspective. His experience was the complete opposite of mine. I have played piano at Elevated Coffee on various occasions this year, during the Portland Ragtime Society meetings and also during a solo classical concert. All of these went very smoothly, especially the latter. I have always been treated with complete respect by the staff. In fact, I have scheduled another classical concert for September, and now consider Elevated Coffee to be one of my regular performance venues. From a general perspective, if I lived closer I would DEFINITELY be a regular. Fine drinks and service, free wi-fi (and computers available), plus that wonderful grand piano. My only misgiving is that I have yet to try the Belgian Waffles! :)
(5)Kristi W.
Tired of the same ol' coffeehouse? This place is a diamond amongst all of the nice little opals. Black tablecloths, chandeliers, baby grand in the corner - it's all classy. Even the pastries were pretty. The raspberry scone & chai I had were spot on. I noticed too late that they also had waffles and smoothies and other delectables. I can't wait to go back & try more!
(5)Lisa K.
Great service, excellent coffee, bright atmosphere. Free computers and wifi make this the spot.
(5)Jack R.
Really want to support the local businesses, but this one is a little hard to figure out. Name appears to be a take on the atmosphere - elevated. Except that for the morning, at least, I am looking for something a bit more comfortable. Service was fine but I, too, found the glossy white piano a distraction. The decor just doesn't make for comfortable eating, drinking and socializing, at least in the morning. I like the menu concept but encourage the addition of some protein (maybe a protein powder add for the smoothies) and/or some egg based item. The purple berry smoothie would benefit from a better balance of berries and banana - banana was by far the dominate flavor.
(3)Laura A.
Hands-down best waffle I have ever eaten in my entire life, and I am a food snob. I got the spice waffle, it came with nutmeg sprinkled in the middle, with delicious whipped cream and powdered sugar. Made fresh and perfectly delicious.
