Devils Food Catering has never let me down. I have used them practically since they started. I had known the owner Charles Stilwell when he worked for another caterer and we had successfully worked together on several large events/fundraisers for not for profit organizations. You really get to know someone when you're in the trenches together. Charles makes planning a party so easy and such fun. He's creative with his ideas and menu, but willing to revise when necessary. He gets what I want - the feel or theme of the event - and makes it all work brilliantly. The food is delicious and even the crackers are home made. Large or small event, the ingredients are first rate as is the food, which is beautifully presented. Whether Oregon organic farm look, Asian, French or exquisite finger food; cocktails, small dinners, or receptions -I've used Devils Food and been delighted with the results.

Dan and the Devil's Food team were amazing. From the initial email inquiry for my company holiday party to the very end cleaning up after the event, they were responsive and professional. Dan helped me figure out how much food we'd need and what cocktails to serve. They took care of every last detail even down to the last minute coat rack add. And the food. Ah...the food. It was amazing. The deviled eggs were to die for and I kept sneaking into the kitchen to steal the pork belly on polenta (shh...don't tell...). If you are looking for a professional caterer with amazing food, use Devil's Food Catering!

Devil's food has very good food, and the service is great. We picked them as our wedding caterers. Dan and the others were near perfect on the day of the wedding and everyone enjoyed the food. They were also super responsive to emails early in the process while we were choosing a caterer, and were flexible and helpful in designing our menu and meeting our budget. My only quibble was that we had some trouble getting prompt email responses as we got closer to the wedding date. Nothing that ended up causing any issues, but it would've been better to have seen more timely responses (specifically, there were a couple of instances where it took about a week to get a response). I understand, of course, that summer is a very busy time for events and that they would've been swamped at this time. So, I'm willing to cut them some slack there especially since the execution at the end was awesome.

I had heard good things about Devils Food and there menu looked great, so when we threw a party at our house we hired them to cater and run the bar. Everything was very, very good. Everyone we dealt with was professional but approachable. They literally took care of everything and told us to just enjoy the party. I can't imagine a better experience. There bill was pretty reasonable too. I will be using Devi's Food for any catering I do in the future and recommend them to everyone I know.

I wasn't a very picky bride. I did know that I wanted good food...that much was clear. That's why I am so happy I stumbled upon Devil's Food. During out first meeting I spilled out a few vague ideas "brunch wedding. Maybe a waffle bar?...uhhh I really like BLTs?". With little to nothing to go on James created a beautiful and fun menu. Fried Chicken and waffles with a fun topping bar. Also mini pork belly BLTs to pass as hors d'oeuvre. Drool, yes! We'll take it! Our tasting was magical. I was all ooooo's and awww's on our part. All the t's were crosses and i's were dotted I knew we were in good hands. Day off they were on top of everything. They were there on time, the servers were lovely. They even packed up everything for us to take home. Which, I have to add we were eating for a few days after which is great since I had ZERO energy left post wedding. Our guests loved the food, I got the most comments on the creamed kale. It was even wonderful as leftovers. The waffles on the other hand were mushy and lacked the crispiness that really makes waffles fun. I believe this is due to them not being made on site. During the tasting they were great, they just didn't travel well which was a shame. In retrospect I would've liked to have picked something that could've made the journal with more integrity. We worked with James who was an absolute champ. Very easy going and willing to work with us to find something that fit our budget. His menu was beautiful, and he was helpful and gracious. My husband and I can admittedly be a little clueless and this really shown through during out venue walk through when we were trying to pick the amount of tables and placement. I would've loved some more guidance from someone in the biz and who has worked in the venue before but unfortunately they had little advise and were more hands off in this department. This was just a minor speed bump - and really everything went smoothly table wise but it was a shot in the dark on our part. In addition to turning it out day of they stayed true to the original quote which was a huge relief. There was a small charge for supposedly ruining a table cloth...but these things happen! All and all I was very pleased with the quality and service we received and I would recommend them for all your catering needs.

Amazing amazing food and amazing amazing people. They catered my wedding and the food was a huge hit and everyone who helped was so wonderful. I strongly recommend this caterer to anyone and everyone for any event. Dan was an amazing guy to work with and made everything so comfortable and stress free. 5 stars for sure. I'd give more if I could.

Great company!!! My daughter got married at the Armory in the Pearl and this company was fantastic . From planning to end of night with late night bites, all was superb. James was the best and I will be eternally grateful .

I had this at a good friend's wedding with pulled pork, basil corn on the cob and the best strawberry short cake. Today a friend catered a cocktail party complete with deviled eggs, crab cucumber, pork slaw sandwiches, veggie rice balls. Superb! Its creative and Madmen style, Cute website that allows many affordable options. I'd recommend it for any occasion or sized gathering.

Devil's Food catering catered my daughter's wedding reception 8/10/13. They were fantastic from start to finish. Prepared, professional, extremely helpful and pleasant, and the food was fabulous. My husband and I are from Washington, DC, so my daughter and son-in-law handled the selection process. We were highly impressed. The staff were professional, handled last-minute seating changes and table arrangements with ease and even volunteered to help us when were putting up decorations -- including moving and climbing ladders. Clearly way outside their responsibility or job description! When the bride, her sister, sister-in-law, and mother, were still getting dressed while guests arrived, they brought a pretty sampling of all the appetizers to our dressing room -- the thought of additional appetizers actually helped us finish up quickly and join our guests. The passed appetizers were terrific; unusual, tasty, and plentiful. The seated service was prompt, repeated as needed, and unobtrusive. The food matched anything we've had at some of DC's finest restaurants. The salad was so much more than just a bunch of lettuce and dressing -- really flavorful. The green beans and fried new potatoes each had distinct, but subtle flavoring that made them stand out as so much more than the ordinary "sides". The chicken was moist and flavorful (really want their recipe!) and the steak was tender and done to perfection. The bartending was done with style by friendly and knowledgable staff. The bar was in an adjoining room to the main dining and dancing area and the bartenders really helped make it a nice place to sit and relax by their welcoming and friendly nature -- again, all without being obtrusive. Set up and clean up were done timely, well, and without the need for any instructions or supervision from us. In case I haven't mentioned it already, these are Professionals. When they did have questions for us, the questions were appropriate and actually helped in addressing things we hadn't thought about. I cannot recommend Devil's Food Catering highly enough. Their prices are incredibly reasonable; they offer first-class service and delectable food. Will definitely use them again for other Portland area family events -- will not even look at others.

Devil's Food catered my wedding last month, and absolutely MADE my day. This company stood out from the very beginning. In their first email response to us, Devil's Food actually sounded excited about being there for my wedding, which was a huge difference from our other replies. Their menu leaped out at us too - it was exactly what we were looking for in the fun, casual brunch we had described to them. I have never hired a caterer before, but Devil's Food made it easy. They were prompt in replying to emails, met with us in person to answer all our questions and plan a menu, and met with us again at the venue to plan where everything would be set up. On the day of the wedding, everything moved like clockwork. When our guests arrived upstairs after the ceremony we were able to provide an open bar of brunch cocktails, juices, coffee and tea without worrying about a minimum bar tab - they sent us the totals and tallied by the drink to bill us after the wedding. They also provided delicious pastries, including a gluten-free banana bread that more than one guest commented on. James insisted that we wait to open the buffet until my husband and I could eat first, which was a thoughtful touch that I definitely appreciated. Everything we put on our plates looked and tasted amazing. We had waffles topped with creamed kale and fried chicken, a corn salad, a green salad with grilled peaches, and yogurt and fruit parfaits - the perfect and unique mix of sweet and savory that we had been hoping for. It was all so good that my husband and I made a trek to the prep area in the middle of the reception to thank the staff personally for all their hard work and such a great result. The staff were efficient, courteous, and that perfect mix of there-when-you-need-them and unobtrusive. As the bride, I didn't have to worry about a thing. What more could you ask? When my new husband and I flew to London the next morning, we took with us a delectable little selection of pastries from our wedding to eat on the plane, packed up for us and tucked away in our things as we left the wedding venue. When we got home, leftovers had been packed and brought home by our friends, and awaited us in our freezer. The food at our wedding was incredibly important to us (and the biggest part of our small budget), and from the beginning Devil's Food made us feel as though they were as invested in our wedding feast as we were. Their prices were exactly in line (per guest) with other offers we received, so we consider the outcome to be even better value for money, given our great experience. I would be unlikely to even consider any other company for any future events I might organize. No complaints whatsoever with Devil's Food. Well done, and thank you so much for making my wedding so delicious.

If you are looking for a green caterer that loves good food then definitely check out Devil's Food Catering. While I ended up choosing a different caterer for my wedding, Devil's came in as a very, very close second (I went with a caterer that included a wedding coordinator in their package). You'll probably work with Charles who is very nice, creative and responsive. He was flexible about special needs and wants and the menus were amazing! And, for very high quality, seasonal and local foods, you can't beat their prices.
